Fantasy I Was Fine Until You

Agravain really didn’t appreciate the tone that Christopher took with him. Now was a very inopportune time to grow a backbone. Agravain hadn’t planned to let anyone see him with the knights. He wanted to catch those coming back on quests before they reached the castle and the older ones? He was sure he could get them away somehow. And he didn’t need to sneak, they wouldn’t expect to be attacked by another knight so he had the element of surprise snd the gift of incredible power behind him. They would already be too injured to fight back once they realised what was going on.

”I don’t need you looking out for me” Agravain insisted, he wasn’t a child and he was perfectly capable of making his own decisions. The king was busy, had other things to worry about, he didn't need to know. But…Chris had given him an idea, maybe he should speak to Gavin. She’d clearly gotten away with her murders for a long time, she might have some tips to give him and he couldn’t imagine she’d disapprove of his plan. They weren’t really on the best of the terms at the moment though. Still, this was important and they could maybe bond over it.

Something told him Chris was going to continue to bite back for the moment and he didn’t want to spend his morning getting no where. “We still need to talk to James. We can decide what to do with the information then” He said, maybe it’d fool Chris into thinking Agravain would consider his words. “or are you going to throw a fit about me talking to an old man now?” Agravain muttered. “We need to know who we can and can’t trust. I’m hoping you yourself are in the trust category Chris. I’d hate to have to change my mind about that” he really didn’t want a rat on his ship. Caleb would not be happy with him if he killed Chris, but….it might be necessary to stop further pain coming to his family.

Chris couldn't help but tense a bit. Yeah, Agravain didn't need him looking after him. But this wasn't just about him. Agravain was planning to murder people! And sure, Even if Chris agreed and wanted to help rid the world of those men. Could Agravain really be trusted to make the right judgements when it came to such? Or would he just kill whoever he thought might be connected with Loth? Chris didn't know. But he was willing to drop the subject for now. Looking away from Agravain.

Chris crossed his arms. Clearly uncomfortable. But he then huffed. "Fine. " He'd follow along. But he didn't like this. Perhaps he could convince Agravain to bring someone else along? Because if Agravain attacked someone, Chris wasn't sure he could fight him off. Christopher then shook his head. "If either of us can't be trusted. Its you. " He muttered quietly. Tone low, So Agravain might have to strain to catch those words. But Chris then looked up at him.

Christopher then told Agravain. "I... Do care about you. If I wasn't someone you could trust, I'd have ratted you out to the king long ago. " Probable still should. But... He couldn't bring himself to do that. Sure, He had told Lance. Hoped the man could smooth things over. But Christopher didn't want Agravain hurt in this. Neither did he want Caleb harmed. He could only imagine what she'd be like if her husband got arrested. So sighing, He finally gathered his food and marched away into the dining room.

It didn’t seem like they’d ever agree on this topic and that was a shame, Agravain wouldn’t mind some help but if he had to kill all those people without Chris knowing then so be it, just fingers crossed that he didn’t have to add Chris to the list. In all reality though, Chris was a good friend, trying to protect Caleb and Agravain, but maybe he should tell Caleb. She seemed to be one of the only people with any sway over Agravain and she was around him most of the time, she could try and stop him, maybe without revealing she knew to him. This baby would hopefully provide a good distraction for Agravain as well.

Agravain took a seat at the dining table and propped his feet up, that helped some of the pain in his knee, wondering how long it’d take Chris to eat his breakfast. “Funny how much trust I put in you but how little you give back to me or even Caleb” he mused. “You won’t even tell her about your stupid little crush” he muttered, he couldn’t help but feel like Caleb would’ve talked to him about it if he had. Again, Agravain didn’t particularly care himself, it was just the double standards which intrigued him. “she’ll get it out of you eventually though, I’m sure” Agravain stated. “She’s incredibly determined. I don’t get why you’re bothering to hide it, just save all this drama and tell her. It’ll please her to know and she might even help you get laid. Win win”

Of course things weren’t that simple though, they never were. If Caleb found out about Chris’ crush, would she still tell Agravain? He’d definitely find it odd if she dropped the subject and he got no update about it, but then again, he might not be bothered enough to ask why. He was more interested in Chris’ training, but only because Caleb had let him spar for the first time in ages. Chris and Gaheris would probably be a good pair to spar, although he’d expect Chris to win. And maybe Chris could Be useful, if he got Chris to hang out with Gaheris maybe he could make the boy less sour. Gaheris sorely needed a friend. Except Chris probably didn’t want to do that and Gaheris wouldn’t like that Chris was Caleb’s friend.

(can I just say that I’m very much looking forward to Lance and Gavin getting together. I can see their next meeting being sort of awkward, like they don’t know where they stand with each other quite. Gavin still hates him but Lance has seen her vulnerable and was kind to her in that moment. And the lingering thought of if they should address it. And if they’re around other people they might just pass the tension off as them hating each other but it’s a bit more complex than that already.

Also I love Arthur and Silas, they’re so cute but I can totally see things getting messy between them once Arthur gets a bit more wild. There’s only so much teasing and lingering looks they can take before things reach some sort of breaking point. I love how tender they are with each other though. And Arthur is not going to react well once they get back to Rayner, after what Silas said about him staying, he’s going to stand up for Silas more and I can see him being very confrontational with Rayner. And do you think Rayner would ever lay hands on Arthur? because Arthur wont Have too much problem getting physical with the guards trying to hurt Silas, and it might take a few to restrain him, and even then he’ll still be fighting, it seems sort of natural that a Guard might punch or backhand him or something to try and get him to stop, but obviously that Comes with diplomatic problems, yet Arthur might force someone’s hand and I can imagine Rayner would enjoy seeing Arthur hurt at least a little. Plus, if they claimed Arthur had attacked the guards first, which would probably be true, then it could be counted more as self defence, or at least a facade of it. Still I can see the knights not reacting well to any harm coming to Arthur so it’d certainly be a delicate situation)

Chris couldn't help but frown at Agravain's initial words. Before his face took on a red tint. Averting his gaze. He then muttered. "I... I... Its not a relationship I can pursue. So, I don't want to think about it. " No, There was no way he'd ever intentionally tell anyone! He then shifted in his seat. Oh, This was awkward. Agravain no doubt didn't feel any of it. But Chris did and then suddenly he said. "Besides, I think it would be very bad for my health if I... Pursued that interest. They're a freaking *ss. " Chris said, And maybe he was a bit pleased of himself. Because Agravain didn't know he was talking about! So he could insult the man as much as he wanted!

He then complained. "They don't listen to anyone! And like, Sure, Its hot. But the idiot needs to slow down. I swear. " He might need to be more careful with his words. But why would Agravain pick up on anything? So Chris huffed. "Its not like it would work. They're married." Chris then frustrated. Focused on his food. His head was killing him and he had this intense feeling like he was forgetting something. But hey! Atleast he could complain!

(lmao, Gavin and Lance are going to be so fun. Like, They don't want anyone to know. They don't understand there feelings so that probable makes them both even more frustrated at times. I think it would be really funny if they were making out or something and Lance's dad just walks into the room. I dunno why, I just love that idea!

Silas and Arthur are really cute together! And like, They clearly care for eachother a lot! I don't think if they had a relationship it would be able to last tho. Because unless Silas is able to get out of being king. Once they become kings themselves. I doubt they'd be able to really be together. They'd have duties to their kingdoms. Which would be really sad. I don't think Rayner would ever directly give the order, Not unless he saw Arthur strike first. Then he'd have no problem with having his men go a bit too far. And of course would excuse it by claiming they were just defending themselves.

I think it would be really interesting if someone killed Rayner. Forcing Silas to step up as king. But I don't really know who'd do it. I don't really picture Silas being able to do it. )

Chris should perhaps be careful with his words. Agravain was getting very used to finding out some men and crushes and relationships with other men, it wouldn’t be what his mind first jumped to necessarily but he knew it wasn’t out of the realms of possibility. It was also interesting that Chris consistently used ‘they’ which was vague and perhaps slightly telling within itself. Agravain arched an eyebrow at the description, Chris seemed almost annoyed by his attraction which he suppose made sense if the other person was married but extra marital affairs happened all the time! Not that Agravain was necessarily encouraging it.

”Maybe you should let Caleb or” he paused and scrunched up his face in displeasure ”Lance set you up then” he suggested. ”maybe it’ll give him something to do other than hang around my home” he muttered. Yes that sounded like a nice idea, Lance could find Chris some girl and spend some time giving him tips and Agravain would get to spend more time with His wife without that traitor and Chris might become better to hang out with if he had a lady friend, might loosen him up a bit.

(oh someone definitely needs to walk in on them. It’s going to be so awkward for Antonio. I’m sure he’s walked in on Lance kissing lots of different girls before but none of them have exactly kidnapped him and been arrested for murder and cannibalism. I think eventually he’s going to start giving Lance the silent treatment, maybe not over Gavin though, or maybe just for a little while, but maybe when he gets another child out of wedlock. its not even like Lance can explain why he’s with Gavin too much, because they’re confused by it. Also I’ve got this image of Gavin being invited over for dinner one day and them being all touchy feely under the table. This could be either when no one knows and they’re trying to hide it but maybe Caleb catches them or something, or they do know and were sort of invited as a couple and Lance just had Agravain glaring at him the whole time.

Yeah, I don’t think Silas and Arthur would be able to work in the long run, plus I imagine it’d be a bit awkward for Caroline. But I suppose it’d help form a stronger alliance with their kingdom. If Silas did get out of being king though, it’d be interesting to know if he’d follow Arthur back home or not. And if Silas was king, I can imagine that when Lance has to run away because his affair got exposed, that he might go to Silas for refuge. Although maybe Silas wouldn’t want to help him, but he did want Caroline to have a relationship with someone she loved, just might be awkward to explain.

Funnily enough I was thinking about something like that. I was thinking either Rayner needs to be killed or a coup needs to be staged in order to protect Silas, but I can’t really see Arthur killing him, at least not intentionally. Although maybe if he threatened Silas’ life. Still, if someone murders the king it’s going to cause havoc and that person surely shouldn’t get off lightly, unless they managed to pass it off as something natural. Maybe one of the knights is tasked to do it? Like Alexander had instructed them to do it because he wants Silas in charge, knows that Arthur will have a strong bond with him and that they have Caroline in their kingdom and he thinks Silas will be an easier king to manipulate maybe. I’m not too sure, there’s just quite a lot of knights currently in their castle, almost a small invasion force but I’m not sure Alexander would want the whole kingdom itself. Or alternatively another bandit sort of situation?)

Chris groaned at Agravain's words. Perhaps that would be the best, Have Lance or Caleb set him up with someone else. Probable Lance would be the better option. Caleb didn't exactly know many ladies. Which, While Chris couldn't find much interest in that. He knew he'd eventually probable end up in such a relationship. He then muttered. "I really don't want to encourage Lance. I think he gets way to invested in other peoples love lives. " But he also had a feeling that if Lance wanted to set him up. He could really stop him. Chris though glanced away. Seeming thoughtful.

Chris though did take notice of Agravain's annoyance with Lance hanging around. That was no surprise. But Caleb saw Lance as a brother, So he very much doubted Lance would be going away anytime soon. Chris thus pointed out to Agravain. "Agravain, I don't think theres anything you can do to get Caleb and Lance to stop hanging around eachother. " Caleb saw Lance as a brother. He was one of the few people she truly trusted. Lance was just going to be a part of there lives. Chris then confessed to Agravain. "I... Know you don't like him. " Agravain had plenty of reasons to dislike him after all. Though Chris didn't mention those. Instead saying. "But... I think it does Caleb some good having more friends around. I know she must feel outcasted. " Chris then leaned back. Crossing his arms. Before confessing. "I've been trying to help with that. Coming around so much. " Chris and Caleb had known eachother before her gender had been revealed. But they weren't close. Not as close as they were now. But Chris still saw her as his brother in arms. He'd stand by her. And right now she needed him. He was honestly ashamed of the knights who did not do the same. Chris then murmured. "I know you don't like me. But I do want her to be okay. " He then smiled a bit fondly. Telling Agravain. "I'm glad you both seem happy together. "

(Poor Antonio! I imagine he probable will be the first to realize the baby is Lance. Like she looks just like he did, And then he looks up at Lance and he's looking all awkward. And then maybe he notices Lance slip away to go see Caroline and the baby alot. Like, Of course Lance would try to hide it. But I doubt he could resist going to see the baby. I could totally picture Arthur kinda guarding the door while him and Caroline were together. And like, Lance just knows its his daughter.
Yes! I think it should be after everyone knows. And like, Agravain hasn't actually seen the two together yet. So Caleb kinda decides maybe they should have dinner. Because they probable should deal with this situation. And its just all kinds of awkward.

I kinda always picture Silas being king, He doesn't want the job. But in the end he's put in a position where he has to step up. But he'd totally help protect Lance. He cares about him a lot. And even though they might not have seen each other much over the years. He still considers Lance his friend. Knows Caroline would be broken to lose him. But like, I also feel like Silas won't lose his cockiness with age. And like, He's long since realized they are nothing more but friends. And then after things come out, Realize Lance was referring to Caroline all those years ago. And would tease him mercilessly over that situation. Though Lance might not be amused!

Ooh, I like all those ideas. What if Rayner is just, Going to far with Silas. Pulls out his blade and seems ready to kill Silas. Probable has already different people he thinks should rule. So, Arthur doesn't have much choice. He has to save Silas. And thats what makes Silas take the crown. Because, If he doesn't. Anyone else would probable cause a war. Would want a war. And though it would be difficult. Silas realizes he's the only one that would be able to stop that from happening. So he gets up from the ground. Wobbles over, Limping and bleeding. And takes Rayners crown. Before looking at Arthur, And tearfully tells him he loves him. But that he needs to flee with Caroline and his knights. Silas would take care of things. But there was no way Arthur would be able to stay in the castle. )

(I can already see Antonio realising the baby is Lance’s and confronting him. He loves his son but this is really dangerous and essentially treason so he doesn’t really want anything to do with it, even if he’d like to know his granddaughter. And I think that might make Lance more desperate to cling on to the rest of his family because his father is giving him the cold shoulder and ostracising him. But he can’t spend too much time around his daughter so Galahad is probably going to be toted around a lot by him.
And at the dinner, I can see Lance being purposefully antagonI stick towards Agravain. Like he’s had to put up with him threatening his family and telling Caleb to stop being his friend and all this so he going to enjoy getting his own back slightly. I can picture him whispering to Gavin at the table and laughing with her and making sure to display his affection quite openly. Meanwhile Agravain will be fuming and Caleb will probably have to hold him back from launching over the table at Lance. But also it might conflict him because the last time he got involved in one of his sister’s relationships, she ended up dead.

Lance will probably try and tease him back a bit but Silas doesn’t seem that easily embarrassed. Arthur will also be pleased to know Lance is somewhere safe with someone they trust. It might be a bit awkward for Lance really but i Think he’d be grateful for Silas taking him in and they’d sort of be like family really with Lance the father of one of Silas’ nieces. And since Silas will be king reluctantly, do you think he’ll get married as well? Or you don’t know, because it would be expected for him to get married, or at least have some heirs but he doesn’t seem to want that.

So you think Arthur should kill him then? Although obviously pushed to it. Arthur’s really not having a great time in fighting people, he’s Trying to deal with his issues with killing loth and then he’ll go and kill Rayner? Not going to do his mental health much good. And how will Caroline take it? She seems fond of her father. I would have thought they’d need to try and hide the fact that Arthur was the one that killed the king because obviously people wouldn’t be happy but them leaving straight away would totally give it away. Silas could say they have to leave pretty soon after the incident so as not to get in the way of the coronation and the funeral and all that, Caroline might be sad she misses it all though, and maybe Silas takes the blame himself and says it was self defence? Either way it’s going to be tricky to explain. It’s totally going to mess with Arthur, killing the king and then having Silas confess he loves him then having to leave, he’ll probably be crying the whole way back. I can imagine that up until that point, Silas and Arthur have sort of been together but obviously Arthur’s gone a bit wild so he doesn’t necessarily think it’s genuine, even if there is a lot of sincerity and feelings mixed in, his mind obviously isn’t in the right Place so thinks it just boils down to fun so for Silas to say about loving him, its really going to throw him. Maybe if he starts getting on the mend before they leave though it’s a more serious relationship. And what about Vere in all this! Oh poor Arthur, his love life, and regular life, is going to be a mess. And I would’ve thought that by then Caroline would know about Arthur and Maybe about him being with Silas. Unless she finds out as they’re leaving. Like, “oh we have to go Caroline. Oh why am I crying? because your brother said he loves me and I don’t want to leave him but I have to because I just killed you dad. Now pack your things!”)

”I doubt he’ll need the encouragement to get involved” Agravain muttered. Lance did tend to get involved but to be fair, if Lance hadn't encouraged Caleb to try things out or been there for her to confide in then she might never had gotten with Agravain. Lance had already suggested they find Chris a nice lady to take him mind off Agravain, surely there had to be someone for him right? Who cares if he was attracted to them or not! He couldn’t be with a man, plain and simple, and certainly not Agravain.

Chris really knew how to pick his topics of conversation. Agravain fixed him with a glare but heard him out anyway which was honestly very nice of him. His eyes narrowed slightly, was Chris accusing him of not wanting Caleb to be okay either? He wanted the best for his wife and the best wasn’t Lance. “We’d be happier together if Lance wasn’t staying with us” he insisted. “I know she needs friends. But there’s tons of knights for her to choose from, it didn’t have to be Lance” he sighed. “But I also know I’m not getting rid of him that easily. She’s stubborn, and it’s not like she’s going to bend to my will over this.” and it’s not like he could say that he’d prefer not to be there or know when they’re hanging out because again, he didn’t trust Lance that much and he liked to know where his wife was. “She needs more friends really, maybe then she won’t rely so heavily on Lance. You should bring around more visitors” he suggested. He certainly preferred Chris over Lance, but was Chris really that popular himself?

(Antonio is going to have so many grey hairs! Lmao, This dinner has to happen. I feel like Gavin isn't really used to that sort of openness. Her and her husband certainly hadn't behaved like that. And the men that flirted with her didn't tend to interest her. So when Lance does it, She's just a blushing mess. Especially in public. But she doesn't nearly dislike it. I could imagine Lance calling her some sort of pet name at the table and Agravain breaking a glass he was holding.
I like the image of Silas offering Lance a position as his personal bodyguard. Like, He trusts Lance. Lance is a very skilled knight. And he'd like the company of a friend around. Though Lance may or may not accept it. Which Silas would be fine with. I don't think he'd put pressure on it. Just tell Lance the position is open should he ever want it. As far as marriage. I'm not sure, Like, Silas would be under a lot of pressure to marry. But I could also imagine him just telling everyone to f*ck off when they try to get him to do such.

Maybe Silas could claim a assassin killed Rayner? We could also have things be the other way around. Silas wouldn't kill Rayner to protect himself. But he would to protect Arthur. I could picture Rayner just going way to far with either of them. Like, Getting so frustrated and furious with him that he's not thinking. Though it might be more difficult for Rayner to get Arthur in that kind of position.
Arthur staying at the castle after for a while makes sense. I think it would be sad as well, Because Silas would have confessed. But they both are having that realization that now, There just isn't any way they can be together. And in Arthur's last days there he can't really be with him much. Because he's having to deal with cleaning up the mess after Rayner's death.
I feel like with Caroline, Arthur might have confessed his attraction to men. But not really given details over who he was seeing. But I think she'd be able to guess. As for her fathers death. Like she loves him, But she also knows how he was with Silas. She'd grieve. Wouldn't argue with the story about the assassin. But she'd probable always know what actually happened. Even if she wasn't told.

As for Vere, I always picture him as someone that it takes awhile for him and Arthur to actually get together. Vere very uncertain about his feelings. So maybe on the journey back is when they get closer? Arthur just needing some sort of comfort. And Vere being there. Then we'll just see from there. )

Agravain was right, Lance would do what he wanted. Chris wouldn't be surprised if Lance was already making a list of girls to introduce him to! Really, The man must have far to much time on his hands! Chris could tell Agravain wasn't pleased with him. He then pointed out to Agravain. "I'm fairly certain you like her stubbornness. " Caleb didn't just roll over to whatever her husband wanted. Agravain probable knew he couldnt demand her to do anything. Sometimes he might find that attractive. This probable wasn't one of those times.

He paused a bit at Agravain's suggestion. Caleb had had a lot of friends around the castle before the reveal. Few had stood beside her during the initial shock. And if they couldn't be there for her then, When she needed them. Chris didn't think they deserved to be with her now. But he did have his own friends that he could try and introduce. Chris was still a fairly recent knight. So a few were still squires. So likely hadn't been in Calebs old friend group. But there was a little problem with that. Chris sheepishly looked at Agravain. "I've considered that. But, I'm not sure I could convince them. I... A lot of them are kinda scared of you. " Most wouldn't go near Agravain with a ten foot pole. He was known to have a temper. But also, He was a famous knight. Which only made him more intimidating. He had a feeling if he even mentioned them going to Agravain's home they'd scatter. But... Chris then said. "I know a guy I might be able to get to come. He's rather rash but he's a good kid. Still a squire tho. And... I feel like we'd need to come up with some reason for him to visit. I can't exactly ask him to have a playdate with Caleb. "

(Haha yes I love the idea of Agravain just shattering a glass in his bare hand, probably bleeding and everything and not really noticing because he’s glaring at Lance so much and someone has to just point it out to him. I think Lance would really enjoy making her blush snd showing everyone how much they liked each other, with the added bonus of annoying Agravain. I think they’ll be really cute together even if no one approves of their relationship and I think they’ll be good for each other really, they’ll both be quite lonely beforehand and theyll be a sweet little family unit.

Thats an interesting idea actually. I don’t know if Lance would agree to be an official member of a security detail but he would want to protect Silas, but maybe not submit that much too his rule. He’ll still think Silas is a bit of a brat after all and him being king is enough power already, he doesn’t need to work for him as well but he’d definitely still look out for him anyway. I can just sort of see him being there in an unofficial capacity offering him advice or being a nuisance back to him as payback for looking after him before.

yeah saying it was an assassin makes sense, maybe even claim that Arthur protected Silas from being killed as well. we’ve got a bit of time to think about it because I would’ve thought Rayner would die towards the end of their planned trip anyway but Silas could kill him. I can see Arthur maybe getting beat up by the guards for protecting Silas but he’s not going to give up even after that and will be mouthing off to Rayner so that might cause him to go into a bit of a frenzy. But we can think about it some more.
Also, yeah, I agree that Arthur would’ve told her about liking men but at the time he’s probably seeing quite a few people what with his drinking snd drug taking, he’d probably be playing the field a bit but I feel like it’d definitely be obvious to her that Arthur and Silas were in some sort of relationship. They’re going to have a sad few days before they leave. Maybe they’d write letters to each other once separated snd I can see them having to meet up again for talks about the alliance, like along the border, that’d be interesting, maybe sad or maybe they wouldn’t be able to keep their hands off each other.

Yeah, I don’t think Vere will really want to be with Arthur whilst he’s in his wild stage, it’s probably way too much for him but being there for him whilst he’s healing? I can definitely see them growing closer. And maybe Arthur will feel less guilty about it since Caroline will know.)

Agravain did like his wife’s fire but that wasn’t to say it couldn’t get in the way. Not to sound high and mighty but he was older and more experienced, he’d literally raised a brother the same age as her, plus been on plenty of quests, so she really should submit to him sometimes, or at least take his advice. He wasn’t asking for the world, just for her to consider his way. Like with this baby, she really should trust his knowledge and that wasn’t to say she didn’t, but she should follow his lead first then maybe they’d try things Her way once she knew better what she was doing. Such as not letting Lance near it!

It was hardly surprising that a lot of people were scared and/or intimated by Agravain, he wasn’t very friendly or very approachable but for Caleb’s sake he might try. It’s not like the friends were for him anyway! Although he could probably do with some. “Say you’re training” he pointed out. Not that Caleb could spar but: “she can give you two some pointers, or say I will if that helps” he muttered, sure people might be intimidated by him but a lot would jump at the chance to get some fighting advice from him. Or they could use Lance if not. “It doesn’t have to be extravagant, you could probably just saying you’re coming round for lunch and they might come, I can find you another bottle of wine if that’d help” he didn’t really care how he got the squire here, as long as Caleb got to hang out with someone. Maybe Gaheris would know this squire? Probably not his friend though because yeah, Gaheris didn’t really have any. Agravain was more popular than him.

( I feel like Gaheris will be in the same boat. Like, They probable won't even be able to get him to come to the dinner. I can imagine both Gaheris and Agravain eventually confronting Lance, And probable Gavin too over this relationship. Which, I'm not sure if Gavin would know what to do in that situation. Like, She knows she should hate Lance. She understands why her brothers are furious. Would probable be the same if she was in there position. So she doesn't really know how to explain why she feels the way she does.

Lmao, I love the idea of Lance and Silas just teasing each other constantly. Lance probable will be pretty distraught when he arrives and I could see him not really knowing what to think. And he knows Silas has probable gotten word about what happened. So while Silas is his friend, He could very easily give him up. And just standing in front of Silas awaiting his verdict, And Silas is just like. "Finally, Its about time you visit! " And then just pulling him into a hug.

I just love the idea of Silas and Arthur getting together but not confessing there feelings until the end. Who do you think will start there relationship. I feel like Silas would be pretty hesitant. Like for some reason he feels like that first step is difficult. So it might need to be Arthur. Maybe when him and Arthur are drunk? Or maybe Arthur protects him against his father when Rayner gets particularly cruel and next thing they know their kissing?
I could see Arthur and Silas like, Once a year visiting each other at the border. And it being really bittersweet for them each time. )

-I'm going to go ahead and switch to Arthur and Silas's morning! -

The first thing Silas noticed when he stirred awake was the pounding of his head. Then something heavy half ontop of him. Though it still take him a moment to fully awake. But when he did? Well, Realization quickly came over and his eyes snapped open. What? Oh yes, The adventure of the night suddenly washed over him. There was a lot to think about, The uncomfortable mattress under him. The kink in his neck from laying on it. The fact that his father was so going to kill him. But the most pressing thing was Arthur next to him, He could feel him cuddling up to him. The bed was small, Pretty much forcing them to be close together and it seemed Arthur enjoyed cuddling. Because he was sleeping half ontop of Silas. To the point that Silas was very much aware there wasn't much way he could get up without waking Arthur.

Silas couldn't help the red in his cheeks. He wasn't sure why. Silas wasn't exactly a shy person. But this was leaving him very much flustered. So, After a moment he carefully nudged Arthur. Mumbling softly. "Arthur... Your heavy. " What? He was! It was a good thing they had found a room because Silas was rather confident he would be able to drag Arthur back home. Silas then let his gaze trace around the room. Ah, Seemed he had not found the classiest of rooms. But atleast it was something.

His mind then was recalling that annoying knight that had been following them. Was he still around? Or had he gone off to bed somewhere. Silas didn't know, But hoped dearly they'd be able to avoid him on the trek back to the castle. Speaking off. Silas couldn't help but mutter. "We... Probable should get up. " It wasn't something he was eager about. Because getting up ment they'd need to return home. They couldn't avoid it forever.

(I imagine that it’ll be difficult for both of them to explain why they’re together, there’s just some sort of undeniable chemistry between them. Plus when they’re not hating each other, they get on quite well.

Its a long journey to make without being sure of your reception but Lance won’t really know where else to go and probably be very relieved when Silas welcomes him, but maybe a bit annoyed that he was toying with him for a bit.

I can see Arthur making the first move. He doesn’t think as much when he’s drunk whilst Silas seems far more aware of the consequences. They definitely need to make sure Rayner doesn’t find out though because he’s going to enjoy hurting Silas even more than usual. Or maybe that’s what makes Rayner go over the top in the end, finding out about Arthur and Silas? and yeah it’s going to be really bittersweet, like they’ll enjoy their time together but hate having to leave eventually.)

Arthur was sleeping heavily, as in both deeply asleep and being heavy on top of Silas. All that alcohol had really sent him off, so Much so that Silas barely managed to wake him. Arthur mumbled intelligibly as he was disturbed before the words properly permeated his brain and he started to wake up. And well, what was natural to do when you woke up? Why roll over and stretch of course! Except the bed was tiny and Arthur Well, wasn’t. Thud. Arthur‘s morning started off with him crashing to the floor. He groaned and went to push himself up to sitting, head pounding, a mixture of hitting it and the alcohol.

He looked up at Silas and squinted at him slightly “I’m up” he grumbled sleepily. “Well….down” he said before trying to get to his feet. It didn’t go well for him though, the sudden movement made his head rush and pound faster and a wave of nausea overtook him. He was so not used to drinking and he rushed to the bin as fast as he could in order to throw up, groaning in distress. “I feel horrible” he complained once he thought he was done, leaning against the wall wearily and looking towards Silas. “Tell me you feel horrible too, that might cheer me up” On the bright side, the vomiting had actually helped a little, even as bad as it had felt.

”drinking Is horrible whilst you’re doing it and afterwards. There is only a very brief period in which any of it feels good, they really should try snd fix that about alcohol” he mused. “Also, why does my side feel like stone?” He muttered, probably the bed they had slept on. Maybe he had some slight aching from falling over in the snow but Silas had mainly cushioned his fall so probably not. Didn’t seem Arthur was bothered about the fact they’d been cuddling though, he’d enjoyed it frankly, he felt he could trust Silas and be comfortable around him, and friends cuddled didn’t they? Yeah, after a night of staring longingly into each other’s eyes, totally normal friend behaviour.

(I like that idea! Rayner walking in on them being all sweet with eachother and thats the breaking point for him! Poor Arthur and Silas are going to be a mess after everything! )

Silas couldn't help but feel a certain bit of relief when Arthur started to move. Perhaps it would help him rid himself of these flushed cheeks. Except suddenly there was the loud sound of Arthur falling and Silas shot up. Looking over the bed to stare at the man sprawled out on the ground. And well... Silas couldn't help but find laughter bubbling in his chest. Eventually settling down to a small snicker. "Well, Good morning. " He said playfully. Listening to Arthur complain, And yeah. Arthur seemed far more effected then he himself. But Silas was more used to drinking then the other prince.

Silas then slowly stood up. Grunting a bit, Ow, His back was sore, As was his neck and he attempted to stretch out a bit. But he had a feeling such things would linger for a while. So he then told Arthur. "Mm.. I'm not to bad. Except for that horrible mattress. Can we please set that thing on fire before we go? " Next time, If they couldn't find a fancier place to sleep Silas was just going to stick to the floor! He then snickered a bit the more poor Arthur talked.

He then playfully informed. "Arthur, I'm pretty sure you're just feeling that way because your a lightweight. " What? It was true! Sure Silas didn't feel that great. But he was doing far better then Arthur. Shaking his head. He then found his gaze glancing towards the window. His expression turning a touch grimmer. He knew what was waiting for him and maybe he could feel a bit of anxiety twisting in his stomach. But he tried not to let it show. Instead looking at Arthur and smiling. "Anyway, Get yourself sorted. We probable ought to head back to the castle before they send a search party out for us. " He joked. Sort of... Rayner might not look for Silas. But Alexander would not be pleased if Rayner somehow lost Arthur!

Silas’ laughter really made Arthur feel better, not. Funnily enough it didn’t irritate his pounding head though. Arthur pouted as Silas said he wasn’t too bad, he guessed he should be happy for the other prince he would’ve much preferred if Silas had felt like him. No worries though because Silas was bound to feel worse soon enough once they returned to the castle. And Arthur would’ve thought he’d try to put it off a bit longer but maybe he just wanted to get it over with so he could go curl up somewhere afterwards.

Arthur considered protesting, saying they should do something in the city but he was honestly feeling like death so he didn’t, instead standing up, if a bit shakily, to get himself ready to leave. And they wouldn’t be left in peace because Galehaut had hung around, he couldn’t just abandon the princes! So no, he’d be there once they left the room to escort them back. At least if he annoyed them, Arthur might be able to throw up on his shoes!

Was Caroline fretting over him being gone? Or maybe she wasn’t aware that they’d slipped off. No, she probably knew and he wondered if he’d get an earful, this was the second night in a row that he’d left her to go drinking with Silas. Yesterday had been one thing but that party had been important and Arthur had some anxiety in his stomach about how badly Rayner was going to react. “I’m ready” he said softly to Silas once he was. “We seem to be making a habit of slipping away and getting drunk” Arthur commented. “Which really isn’t hoe I thought this trip would go. I thought you’d give me the silent treatment for at least a week” what with their unresolved spat and the deal with Morgan but Silas was far more perceptive than that and he was glad they’d jumped right back into being friends, or well, jumped to being maybe better friends than they had been to start with.

Silas watched Arthur stand up, The man was wobbly and it was amusing to watch. Hopefully Arthur wouldn't be too sick on the way back! To be fair, They both probable looked a mess! He then grinned. Yeah, Silas seemed good at getting Arthur into trouble. Though his smile dimmed a bit at Arthur's words. Glancing away. "I... Know I shouldn't have behaved like I did. But, You are my friend. And I don't want that to be messed up. " Arthur was one of the few people Silas considered a friend. He trusted him, Sure. They had argued. But Silas didn't want to linger on that. He'd missed Arthur. Though he'd admit, He'd expected their reunion to be far more awkward. He then was turning around. Moving towards the door. Time to return to Silas's own little personal hell.

Silas though found himself going still, He was shaking. He didn't like to show such fear. To feel vulnerable. But he was scared. No one wanted to be hurt and Silas knew what to expect. He was used to it by now. Still, It took him a moment before he regained his composure enough to open the door. And wow, Seeing it while sober. Silas really hadn't picked a great inn. It was dark and grim and filthy, And was that a hole in the floor in the corner? Probable. But they wouldn't linger here for long.

The people also made Silas hesitate. None looked like the type they should keep the company of. Best to hurry and leave. Luckily most seemed eager to ignore Silas and Arthur. But Silas felt a few eyes on them. Probable sizing them up. Arthur though wasn't someone most people wanted to mess with. Sure, He didn't look that intimidating. But he also didn't look weak and would probable be more effort then he was worth. So Silas figured they'd be safe enough, Still, Best not to push there luck. So Silas then looked to Arthur. Saying quietly. "C'mon, Lets get out of here. "

It was actually really touching to hear Silas say that. It did brighten him up and he ended up grinning a little. His smile did dim when he noticed Silas was shaking though, lips closing at the grim reminder of what was to await them. He was tempted to reach out and try to reassure Silas but before he could, the other man had steeled himself and was leaving the room. He followed after Silas, apprehensive about the journey back and what would await them but eager to stay by Silas’ side.

Most of the patrons didn’t seem too bothered by them, one in particular had been lying in wait though. Galehaut stood out a little from the regular grime in the inn and he wasted no time in approaching them, smug grin on his face. “Ah, here come the lovebirds” he teased once he got near enough, keeping his voice relatively low though, he didn’t want to be having a conversation with the whole inn. “Sleep well? I had myself a lot of fun playing cards. But perhaps you two were having your own sort of fun” he said with a suggestive eyebrow and look. Arthur was….not feeling well enough for this conversation. Galehaut’s words made his stomach drop and fill with even more dread. He did not need this teasing, him and Silas were just friends and he didn’t need someone, who didn’t like him, making it weird.

”anyway, it’s well past time you two Got back. Probably stupid of you to stay out to be honest. im sure your father would like a word with both of you” he said breezily. “But you seemed a bit too wrapped in your own world, I couldn’t bear to end your fun” but his eyes were insincere, no he was probably happy for them to get into trouble. Hey, maybe he’d get a reward for bringing him back! That was probably expecting too much but would be nice all the same. Arthur simply sighed and went to tug Silas’ arm gently and after them. “Well the funs Over now so let’s go” he muttered, at least Galehaut would make sure they made it back safe, Arthur might not really notice many threats with how his head was pounding and how he was worrying about what Rayner would do.

Silas couldn't help but frown when he caught sight of Galehaut. Just great. Then the man was approaching and he found himself sighing. Nose wrinkling at Galehaut's words. Silas then huffed. "Indeed, Sleeping is very fun. " He informed. Silas normally would have been pleased to tease. But his feelings towards Arthur left him less... Eager. Besides, Galehaut wasn't being playful. Silas could easily tell. Then Galehaut just had to keep talking, To bring up his father and Silas was prepared to say some rather not nice things. But then he felt Arthur's hand on his arm. Drawing his attention away from the frustrating knight. Nodding, He began trailing after the two men.

Silas was very much in his own head as he walked. Arms crossed, His mood clearly having dimmed in anticipation. Arthur would be with him this time. Would see everything. Something that was a touch embarrassing. But also made Silas feel better. He didn't want to be alone anymore. For everyone to just walk away. Arthur would stay at his side and things would be okay in the end. He just had to keep thinking that.

Silas was good at pretending to be composed. But right now, It was hard to keep it up. He only realized that he'd lost that facade when he realized he was trembling again. He was slowing down, Finally falling to a stop. Forcing his eyes on the ground because he was sure they'd be glassy. He was scared. Was it hard to breath? It felt hard to breath. He needed to calm down. If he seemed frightened when he faced his father. It would be far worse. Silas knew that very well. "F*ck. " He cursed. Quietly mumbling to himself. He wasn't sure if Arthur and Galehaut had noticed him falling behind. Silas didn't dare look up to check, He didn't want them to see him shaken up. Luckily, The alleyway the group had begun walking threw was fairly quiet.

The walk back was relatively quiet, none of them seemed eager to strike up a conversation which Arthur was glad for because his head hurt too much and he was just trying to focus on not throwing up again. The cold air thankfully helped and he just concentrated on walking, one step at a time, following Galehaut. So, hed made it a fair way down the alley when he realised that Silas had stopped trailing after him. Arthur stopped and turned to look back, noticing Silas had stopped and wasn’t looking great. Galehaut got even further, only stopping when he reached the end of the alleyway and frowning back at them.

Now, Galehaut might not be the kindest to Arthur and by extension Silas, but he wasn’t a monster. There was clearly something troubling Silas. “What’s wrong with him?” Galehaut asked, voice surprisingly concerned. Arthur didn’t look at him, kept his gaze focused on Silas but he did reply “nothing good awaits him at home” he breathed into the quiet air. He wasn’t going to delve into it, wasn’t sure Silas would want him too but he figured that answer was good enough.

Arthur paused for only a moment more before he trekked back over to Silas, reaching out a hand to touch his arm again before his other went to Silas’ cheek, trying to lift his face up slightly so he’d be looking at him. ”Silas” he spoke. “Hey, Silas” He could see Silas trembling and it made his heart ache. “Just focus on me” he urged, hopefully he could ground Silas a bit. Arthur and Silas really did seem to need each other, Silas had been there to help Arthur through his panic attack, hopefully Arthur could return the favour somewhat. “I’m not going to leave you” he promised, keeping his voice soft but in the quiet alleyway, Galehaut probably wouldn’t struggle to hear his words, still that was hardly the most pressing matter in Arthur’s mind. “If you want me to stay then that’s what I’ll do” he wanted to give Silas what comfort he could. ”I know it’s horrible and I know you’re scared, but you’re so strong and I’ll be with you until and after you come out the other side” fear was a natural reaction but he still thought Silas was so brave, so strong to still be the man he was despite his father’s best efforts. “Just focus on me” he repeated, brushing his thumb gently against Silas’ cheek.

Silas was very much stuck in his own thoughts, He was going to be hurt again. As soon as he returned home. He should be used to it, Shouldn't let it effect him like this. Silas couldn't help but find himself startled when he felt Arthur's touch. But before he could do much. He found he was forced to look up. Oh, Silas hated what he must look like now. Trembling and crying. He hated it and very much wanted to hide his face in embarrassment. He tried to avert his eyes. Not look directly at Arthur. But Arthur kept talking and eventually Silas was looking at him.

Arthur's expression was kind, Worried and sympathetic. He'd be there. Threw it all. Eventually he would have to return to his own home, Then Silas would once more be left in his own personal hell. But for now? He was here. Before Silas knew it he was wrapping his arms around Arthur in a tight hug. Clutching him desperately as he burrowed his face into his shirt. A small attempt to hide his tears and to seek some sort of comfort. He was safe right now. It wouldn't last long. But for now he was safe.

Silas was still shaking. Whimpering. "I can't keep doing this... I don't... It never stops. " Even when he wasn't being hurt. He was terrified. But it didn't matter if he was good. Because Rayner would always find something he'd done wrong. He'd find some sort of excuse. So why try to behave at all? He needed to stop crying. He couldn't let this keep effecting him. He then found himself quietly murmuring. "Why does he hate me? " And it was a honest question. Because Rayner had to hate him. If he cared for him at all, He would never do this.

Silas was really tugging on Arthur’s heart strings and he wasted no time in hugging Silas back. He’d like to tell him that everything was going to be okay and that he’d be safe but Arthur wasn’t sure he could promise that, as much as he wanted to. Here in this alley, with every tremble Silas made, the more Arthur hated Rayner and Arthur was not the sort to really hate anyone. What sort of monster did this to his own son? Struck such fear into his heart and caused him so much pain. Alexander would never do anything of the sort to him because despite their recent differences, at least he knew his father loved him.

Silas’ resolve was crumbling and Arthur didn’t know what to do. It’s not like he wanted to encourage Silas to live in hell every day of his life, but he couldn't just give up because what would that mean? Arthur rubbed Silas’ back, trying to soothe him. “I don’t know” he admitted softly. He would honestly like to know why Rayner hated Silas so much but he wasn’t sure he’d ever get an answer to that, Caroline didn’t really seem to know why And Rayner didn’t seem to like answering his questions. ”but no father should hate their son” he murmured.

”I’m sorry you have to go through this Silas” he said gently. “we’ll try to think up something to stop it” He couldn’t guarantee anything but maybe they’d be able to find some blackmail on Rayner or something? There had to be something to get him to stop! Maybe Caroline could help? Because it’s not like Rayner hurt her, but again that was something Arthur didn’t understand, why only Silas? “Or if I can’t stop it, I’ll help you run away again” maybe more permanently. He understood this was Silas home but if he was in danger here then he shouldn’t stay. Arthur didn’t want to prompt Silas to get moving, to go back to the castle, it felt mean, but they couldn’t delay this all day. Galehaut was watching the scene with a frown, trying to figure out what was going on and it was he who prompted them. “Cmon, we can’t stay here forever, whatever’s waiting for you will only get worse the longer we take” he said but his voice was soft and gentle, kind even, quite a change from his earlier mocking.

Silas couldn't help but feel some relief clinging to Arthur. He was safe and while he might not be able to help. He'd try his best. That was far more then Silas had ever received. Few would even dare think of stopping a king. Even Ronan had never mentioned a solution. But he had atleast provided comfort. Running away... Silas ran away a lot. He didn't want to keep doing it. But perhaps that was his best way out. To escape the castle and never look back. Thus he nodded slightly. Sadly the two couldn't stay here forever. No matter how much Silas wanted. He nearly jumped as he heard Galehaut's voice. Briefly glancing towards him. Embarrassment soon showing on his face and he slowly untangled himself from Arthur. While he attempted to wipe his eyes. He didn't like people seeing him in tears. Sadly it seemed to be occurring more and more lately. "Yeah, C'mon. " He murmured. Trying to muster more confidence in his voice. But it just wasn't there.

Eventually he was able to muster the courage to continue on the path back home. Sticking close to Arthur. Leaning a bit against him for some bit of comfort. But, when the castle finally came into view. Silas pulled away and put a bit of distance between him and his companion. He wouldn't let himself look weak, Look scared in front of his father. Though he was sure his eyes were still a bit red from crying. He did his best to muster a more neutral expression as they walked.

Eventually they reached the gate to the courtyard. The men standing guard giving them curious glances. But none said anything. Simply opened it for them. They probable were aware of what waited for Silas. Knew better then to ask questions. Still, Stepping inside. Things had been silent during the walk and finally. Silas broke the quiet. Glancing towards Galehaut. "You can go now, I'd prefer you not to stick around. " He didn't want Galehaut there. It would probable be best if it was just him and Arthur. Looking towards the doors of the palace. Silas then mumbled. "He's probable waiting for us in the throne room. " Likely expected them to come to him. If they waited too long he'd have them dragged in.

Arthur wasn’t a fan of cowardice and previously that’s what he’d seen Silas’ running as but now he knew a bit better. There was no shame trying to escape from the horrible situation his father had put him in. Arthur wished he had a handkerchief to offer Silas to help dry his eyes but Silas did the best he could anyway. They walked back, again falling quiet and Arthur definitely noticed when Silas pulled away and distanced himself. He glanced at the other prince in worry but didn’t say anything.

Before they knew it, their doom was impending and Silas was attempting To send Galehaut away. The knight seemed like he might argue, frowning at Silas in what seemed to be concern. Arthur shook his head at Galehaut though. “It’s best if you go” he agreed. Galehaut had seen Silas crying though, was clearly troubled by what lay ahead and maybe it made him feel a bit guilty but there was nothing he could do so he just nodded.

Arthur stood next to Silas and looked at the doors as well. They were expected to walk into the mouth of the lion; it was truly cruel. Silas didn’t seem to want to appear reliant or too close with Arthur but he couldn’t help but reach a hand out to squeeze Silas’ shoulder. “I’m with you” he reminded him before he took the steps forward to push open the doors and make it to the throne room. Would it just be Rayner? Or would Caroline be about? She’d probably been worried about them but he didn’t think Rayner would necessarily want her around for his torture of Silas, and he couldn’t imagine either of the siblings would want that either. His face was grim as He went to meet Rayner with Silas.

Silas was glad when Galehaut relented. Leaving the two's side, It was just Arthur and him now. Staring at the door. He nearly jumped at Arthur's touch. Looking to Arthur and well, There was a certain relief that went threw him. He wouldn't be alone. Arthur would be there. So, He walked at Arthur's side, Carefully entering the room and quietly making his way to the throne room. Unsurprised at the sight soon in front of him. Rayner was sitting on his throne. Head in the palm of his hand lazily. Though he became more alert when the two entered. Eyes snapping to the boys. A soft hum coming from him. "I see the runaways have returned then? " He asked. Eyebrow raising as he inspected the two. Silas did his best to match his eyes. He wouldn't cower. Not to him. So he then huffed. "Our apologies. Your party was just such a bore. " Silas knew he'd be punished in some way. He felt no reason to behave now.

His father then suddenly lifted his hand. Doing a small wave. And thus on cue, A door opened, And a guard approached. Dragging a bloody figure behind him. It took Silas a moment to recognize what exactly it was. But when he did catch on? His eyes raised. "Is this the guard thats been letting you escape? Threw the servants passage correct? " Rayner asked, Amusement on his face. He then explained gently. "We couldn't let such treason continue. Let it be a lesson to others. " Treason? It wasn't Treason! He'd just been letting them out to go have fun! Silas couldn't tell if the bloody man was alive or not. He was on the other side of the room and Silas couldn't help his desire to run to the guard. To check on him. So he took a step forward.

Rayner must have planned for that as well. Because Silas felt something hard hit the back of his head. A pommel of some sort of weapon. Yelping, He was knocked onto his knees. Clutching the back of his head. Seemed two guards had approached from behind. The one who'd hit Silas. And another, Who was a bit more gentle. Attempting to grab Arthur's arm and pull him away. Didn't want him getting in the way afterall. Rayner then was finally standing up. Staring down at his son for a moment. "You can't stop yourself can you? Disobeying orders? Your doing this to yourself! Forcing my hand. Now look what you've done? " Gesturing towards the bloody guard. His tone mocking. He was enjoying this. That was clear. But Silas still had some bite. Snapping angrily. "F*ck you. " He cursed. Still on his knees. Rayner seemed a bit amused by Silas. Telling him. "Bow. " He told. Which of course, Silas did not do. So, The guard behind him was soon forcing him too. Kicking his back and then placing his foot on his back to keep him down. Rayner then was looking towards Arthur. Studying him. "Tsk, Seems Alexanders son is just as misbehaving as mine. Running off, Did you truly think that would go well for you? " He asked, Tone almost curious.

Arthur did not enjoy the theatrics, the way Rayner posed as if he hadn't been waiting ominously for them, or the back and forth between father and son. It seemed Silas wasn’t the only one punished for them slipping off and Arthur couldn‘t disguise his expression as much as the others so he gasped when he saw the bloody guard. His stomach twisted in knots, he’d warned them, they should have listened now he was hurt, possibly dead. Arthur would like to hope he was alive but if he was then more pain might only await him.

The bloody guard didn’t hold Arthur’s attention for too long as Silas was then being hit, and blamed. And maybe Arthur did feel guilty but it was ultimately Rayner who had caused that guard harm. And how would they escape now? Out a window or something he guessed, but that was a problem for another time. He didn’t yet fight the guard who took his arm but rather watched the whole scene in horrid curiosity. Was his father aware that Rayner was like this? And if he wasn’t, would he have sent him if he knew? Arthur would like to think his father was not as sadistic as Rayner seems but if hadn’t been sent then no one would be here for Silas right now.

He dragged his eyes away from Silas as Rayner addressed him. He went to tug his arm out of the grip of the guard holding him but aside from that, not make a move, not yet. “Of course not” he replied to Rayner, tilting his chin up a bit, “but I have no intention of listening to tyrants” he told Rayner pointedly. “And something tells me you have no intention of ever being kind to your son” And he wondered hoe long had this gone on, how young had Silas been when it had first started and had it fractured the image that he’d previously had of his father, or did it line up with how Rayner had always been. “If I may, I’d like to know if you hated your wife” Arthur inquired. He knew a lot of marriages weren’t for love but they might’ve been friends. He was pretty sure his own father was smitten with his mother, he cared deeply for Caroline himself and Rayner had not remarried, perhaps because he had loved his wife? “Because I’d imagine she’d hate you for the way you treat her son” he commented, what mother would approve? Certainly not his own. “Hurting him just so you can feel big? It’s pathetic.“ and Arthur wasn’t trying to get Silas hurt but he hoped to hurt Rayner himself, even if he knew it would likely just amuse him.

The guard put up no resistance when Arthur pulled away, Perhaps a little nervous to be too rough with the foreign prince. Luckily Rayner allowed it for now. Rayner then gave Arthur a smile. "Oh dear Arthur, While your here, You are my ward. I intend to get you to listen. As for my son... Perhaps if he behaved I would not treat him so? " Rayner spoke as if all of this was the two's fault. No, He was simply sick. His eyes narrowed though when Arthur brought up his wife. Seemed that was a soft spot.He seemed to choose not to answer in regard to his own feelings towards the woman. But he soon growled. "Of course she would hate me. After that boy came, He was all she thought about. " Was that jealousy in his tone? It was the one thing he seemed unable to mask. But he then decided he was done with Arthur. Waving his hand and telling the guard. "Keep him restrained. " With that, The guard was moving. Attempting to grab Arthur's arm. Far rougher this time. Perhaps using only one guard was not the best ideas. The man might struggle if Arthur really wanted to escape.

Silas was still trapped in his bowing position. He could see his father though as he stopped to stand in front of him. Kneeling down and studying his son. He then asked Silas. "I'm a good dad, You know? I don't leave you with scars. Just bruises. But you still don't learn. Even with how kind I am with you. " He spoke, Tone snarky. Silas then growled back. "Aiming for the father of the year trophy? " Though Rayner ignored him and just continued speaking. "Now you're leading poor Arthur down such a bad path, And I can hardly send the king back a rebellious child. So perhaps we should give you some marks to remember? Something to think about next time you run off? " He then was rising to his feet.

Rayner then looked to the guard that had dragged the bloody man into the room. Saying. "If he's alive, He's not going anywhere. Go, Fetch a whip. " He ordered. So it seemed no one had checked if the man on the floor was alive or not. Silas supposed that was comforting. That he might still be alive. But the mention of the whip had him tensing up. Struggle to free himself away from the guard. Though did it even matter? If he somehow escaped from his position. No doubt he'd be caught quickly. No, He was at Rayners mercy.

Silas would never behave for his father and his father would never be kind, Arthur didn’t want to think about the endless loop the were stuck in, the futility of Rayner saying, probably lying, that he wouldn’t punish Silas if he just did as he was told. No, Rayner would always hurt Silas, he was starting to see that clearer and clearer. Arthur frowned as something did get through to Rayner though, the mention of the late queen. Seemed he hadn’t been fond of his wife’s focus on her child, but as king surely he should want an heir, should also be just an enraptured. Although from the stories of his own childhood he knew that his own father hadn’t been around that much, still surely Alexander didn’t resent the attention that Malia had given Arthur, right? Arthur was beginning to suspect that Rayner was an egotistical narcissist and that being a king had only amplified that situation.

Arthur gritted his teeth in displeasure as he was grabbed again but he didn’t fight it just watched the scene play out. He almost laughed as Rayner said he was a good dad, might’ve done if he wasn’t feel so grim and tense. He almost said that he wasn’t so rebellious for his own father but he wasn’t sure that was true anymore. Things were quickly taking a darker turn though and Arthur felt alarm course through his veins. A whip? Bruised were one thing, as horrible as they were, but he was going to make Silas bleed, try to break him even more. Arthur was not feeling very well, he wasn’t sure he could deal with this, not that he had much choice. It was giving him flashbacks of Kay, of hurting him, of him bleeding and collapsed and in so much pain, and that poor guard on the floor, that was reminding him of it too, of people getting hurt for his actions and he didn’t know if the man was alive or dead but he hurt to look at and Arthur wasn’t sure he could help him either way. It felt a little hard to breathe, Arthur could feel the whip in his hand, the weight of it and the force he’d had to put into it, he could hear the noises Kay had made and he knew sounds of pain like that were going to come from Silas too. He was feeling faint, a little bit weak but now wasn’t a good time for a panic attack and Arthur decided to focus on his anger instead, it centred him a little. Anger at Rayner for doing this to Silas and the guard and anger at his own father from making him do it to Kay. And he did think his father was better than Rayner, kinder perhaps but…was it really true with what he’d made Arthur do? He’d hated his father in that moment, but he’d hated himself more.

Arthur went to step forward, although it didn't really work what with the guard holding onto him but at least with the guard holding him it meant he might not fall over if he felt any weaker. How to stop this? Rayner wouldn’t stop just because he asked, no he’d like to see Arthur protest, maybe make him do it all the same, yet Arthur couldn’t not try. Perhaps an appeal to his ego would help them? Maybe he’d like to see Arthur beg? “There’s no need to do that“ He insisted, trying to keep his voice steady and not let the desperation bleed through, although he wasn’t sure how well he did. “Don’t let my presence change your parenting style,“ he murmured. “I mean, just once you get the whip out, it might actually scare Silas straight, I mean you never know right?” Although they could all probably take a good guess. “And the. Is Silas actually starts behaving, where does that leave you? no more father son beat down bondings“ Arthur said, he was sure Rayner enjoyed hurting his son so surely wouldn’t want to risk Silas behaving and not being able to hurt him properly, or at least it might not be as satisfying. “You’ve got a good thing going, why change it,” although it so wasn’t good and Arthur felt a bit sick in his mouth, and not from the alcohol.
