Fantasy I Was Fine Until You

Silas grunted a bit when Arthur fell on him, What! he was heavy! But then he found himself freezing at the closeness. The warmth coming from Arthur was nice. He... He liked this. But then Arthur was rolling away and he couldn't help but find his own chuckles as he listened to Arthur laugh. Arthur's hand soon reached for his, And Silas found his cheeks darkening as he laced his fingers with Arthur. This was a nice spot to watch the stars. Maybe not the safest and people would surely give them odd looks if they noticed. But Silas didn't find him caring that much. Scooting closer to his companion. He went silent.

Then Arthur was talking and Silas turned his gaze to him. Had he seen a sight so beautiful? No, He didn't think so. Arthur was beautiful. And he soon breathed. "No... I... " Stars! They were talking about stars! Not men. But Silas thought Arthur was a far more interesting view. They were so near, This closeness... It was something Silas craved. He was lonely, A lot. But right now? He wasn't. He barely realized he had leaned closer. Him and Arthur was friends, But perhaps tonight he wished for something more then that? Except that was unknown territory. Silas was normally confident. But would things change if he acknowledged these feelings? Not in a teasing way, In a real way. Probable.

Maybe it was that fear of change that made him stop, To not do what he wished and kiss Arthur. Or maybe it was that lingering hope of being with Lance? Maybe it was the public location. It could have been a lot of things. Silas had plenty of excuses he'd be able to think up. Reasons not too. So he didn't. He dragged his eyes away from Arthur and sat up. Admiring the stars for a moment. A certain regret hanging in his chest. But he pushed it down. He was too drunk to think about this. So instead he mused. "Mm... Its cold... Lets go find a inn. " Sure, Adventuring sounded fun. But Silas suddenly felt rather tired. Then again. Maybe curling up in the snow wouldn't be so bad. They probable wouldn't freeze to death!

Arthur squeezed Silas’ hand as the other man gripped him back. Arthur couldn’t tell it Silas had moved closer or not, were they not always this close? If not then they should be, it was nice and Silas was warm and comforting. And okay, maybe Arthur was subconsciously leaning in too, he could feel the warmth of Silas’ breath and was almost brushing noses with him. Arthur had felt lonely himself recently, even with the company of the knights and Kay and Caroline, most of the knights hadn't been that friendly after all that had happened, Kay was duty bound to act like a friend but things could still be a bit tense between them and Caroline? They were friends but they weren’t always that comfortable around each other. Things had been getting better but coming to a strange new kingdom had made him feel a bit isolated.

Arthur was already beginning to forget why they were on the ground, he was just thinking about how Silas looked really sweet with red cheeks and eyes sparkling in the night. Maybe Arthur would’ve liked to be kissed but he was quite drunk, he might not remember it in the morning. Maybe that would be good though, meant nothing had to change between them. Surely though, if Silas wanted to kiss him, he might want something to change, obviously if things weren’t well received then it might mess up their friendship. Plus, lots of people were scared of change. Probably for the best they didn’t kiss though, they likely would’ve heard Galehaut laughing at them from across the street, that really would’ve ruined the mood.

Arthur was busy staring into the forest that was Silas’ eyes when he was jolted out of the moment by Silas moving and insisting they should go to an inn. “i thought the cold only bothered me” Arthur slurred as he pushed himself up and managed to somehow get to his feet after a few tries. He reached an arm out to put around Silas, they should go back to supporting each other! Assuming they didn’t fall over again, it would make their progress a bit easier. They didn’t manage to get into much trouble in the end but Arthur had enjoyed himself, it was just nice to spend time with Silas. “I don’t want to sleep alone” he admitted. He wasn’t sure what the plan had been, two separate rooms or what, but he didn’t want Silas to leave him. He’d not been married long but he had found that he quite liked having someone else around, it had really made him realise how lonely some aspects of his life had been before. Also, he had found that he’d not been sleeping that well recently and waking up in the middle of the night, it was reassuring to see Caroline laying next to him, calmed him down. “Nightmares are worse alone” Arthur might be too drunk to dream of much of anything though, still a warm body next to him would help send him to sleep. This was all assuming they could even find an inn, Arthur didn’t know this place, Silas didn’t seem that familiar with it, though an inn should be nicely labelled, they might get some funny looks but If this was a dodgy part of town, they might be used to unusual pairs renting rooms.

Silas couldn't help the soft amused smile on his face. No, Silas got cold too. Though perhaps not as badly as poor Arthur. Rising to his feet. He didn't get much time to steady himself before he felt Arthur leaning against him. Nearly sending Silas tumbling again. But he managed to keep his footing. Silas gaze flickered towards Arthur as the other kept speaking. Sleeping in the same room with Arthur was not that odd for Silas. But, Perhaps with his current line of thinking it felt oddly intimate. But he didn't argue. Simply nodded. Oh... Nightmares. That was something that was familiar to Silas. So he gently nuzzled the other man. murmuring. "Okay... Yeah, I'll stay. " He promised. Looking up at Arthur. He frowned though for a moment. Nose wrinkled in thought before he lifted his hand. Gently attempting to brush some of the snow out of Arthur's hair.

Silas then pulled his attention away. Time to lead the way! It shouldn't be too difficult to find a inn. They weren't in the best part of town. Perhaps they should search for a more fancier place. But Silas figured in the end where they ended up didn't matter. As long as it was warm and had a bed. So, Carefully he guided Arthur along. Stumbling along. Arthur was warm, And that only added to Silas's desire to curl up somewhere and sleep. Thus, The first inn he saw was where he decided they'd stay. Walking inside, A few people lingered around, Sitting at tables and drinking. Some even eyed the two men. Though Silas barely cared to pay much attention to them. No, He just wanted to get them a room. So, Soon, he was in front of a barman. Shifting a bit, As to better help support Arthur's weight. "Do you have any beds? " He mumbled.

It wasn't too difficult to get a room. Just a few coins really. Then, Silas dragging himself and Arthur too a old room. The door squeaking as it opened. And well, Inside was Silas's wish. A bed. Nothing fancy, Somewhat small too. So either they'd need to be laying half ontop of eachother. Or one would need to sleep on the floor. Silas didn't much care. It was a place to sleep. He did pause for a moment. Frowning in thought before turning and locking the door. It wasn't the best protection. The door was flimsy and could probable be easily opened if someone really wanted in. But it was something. Silas then carefully moved the two towards the bed. He didn't wait long. Not even paying attention to if Arthur was still using him for support before he was flopping down onto the bed. Which... Wasn't exactly comfy. The floor was actually probable softer. But drunk Silas couldn't find himself caring that much.

It didn’t take long for Silas to agree not to leave him, and the accompanying nuzzle was nice. Silas was even getting rid of the snow for him! It really was nice to be looked after. Arthur may could’ve done a slightly better job of supporting himself, poor Silas was being A real trooper though as he pulled Arthur along. Luckily they found an inn pretty quickly and managed to get a room. Arthur followed Silas to the room and did actually disentangle himself before Silas collapsed on the bed, leaning against a bed post himself to make sure he stayed upright.

Arthur was not separated from Silas for long though and went to scoot Silas to the side slightly so there was room for him before going to climb onto the bed. It wasn’t the easiest task when he was this drunk and the bed was that small, he almost fell a few times whilst he tried to get himself settled but eventually he ended up on his side, one leg draped over Silas to keep himself on the bed. It really wasn’t a comfortable bed, and Arthur had been on the road for a long time but he was still a prince so he was used to come luxury and well, this wasn’t it. He didn’t say anything though, just leaned his head into the pillow tiredly, eyes already half closed.

To seal the deal of their closeness, Arthur reached out to put and arm around Silas again and keep him close, not that they had much choice on the bed, but if Silas did want to sleep on the floor then he might find it difficult to escape from Arthur’s octopus clutch. Hopefully Silas enjoyed cuddling as much as Arthur did. ”Night” Arthur murmured as he went to rest his head in the crook of Silas’ neck where it was nice and warm. Arthur was probably going to have a terrible hangover tomorrow, Rayner’s shouting wouldn’t help, maybe they could explore the town more though tomorrow before they went back. They were already in so much trouble, what was a little more?

Silas couldn't help but let out a small squeak as Arthur got in the bed next to him. Wiggling slightly to try and get in a bit of a better position. Not that such lasted long as Arthur was soon wrapped around him. Giving him little room to move. Huffing slightly, Silas soon was accepting his fate. Mumbling a gentle. "Night Arthur. " Atleast he'd be kept warm! Though if Arthur started snoring he was so kicking him out of bed. Settling down and cuddling close to Arthur. Silas closed his eyes. This... As strange as it was, was nice. He liked this. Tomorrow would be hell probable. But Silas intended to sleep in as long as he could, As well as delay going to the castle whatever chance he got. He knew what to expect when they returned. He'd receive a new set of fresh bruises. That was certain. But the young man did his best to rid such thoughts from his mind. Simply focus on how warm Arthur was next to him. He was atleast safe here.

-The next morning, Elsewhere-

Arthur and Silas would probable wake up late. But, Caleb tended to be a early riser and was already in the dining room. Though much of the house was still quiet, Christopher hadn't awaken yet. Something Caleb had been keeping a eye out for. Eager to talk to him properly once he sobered up. Ruth was also still in bed. Probable enjoying actually having a bed to sleep in. But Caleb wasn't alone. Melodias was awake. He was sitting at the table. Idly chatting with Caleb. Though she herself was standing, Pacing back and forth in the room. Simply wishing to move. "Sweetheart, Come sit down, You're making me dizzy. " Melodias eventually mentioned in amusement. Watching as Caleb slowed down. Her expression turning a bit sheepish. "Sorry. " Slowly approaching the table and sitting. Though her foot continued to tap as she sat there. She wanted to go and move! To go fight. But Caleb was confined. Perhaps she'd be able to convince Lance to go riding with her? That was fun.

The more she focused on not being allowed to fight. The more she longed for it. So instead, Caleb shook her head. Smiling at her father. She then asked gently. "So, what do you make of Lance? " She found herself asking. Lance was her friend, She wanted her father to approve of him. But... Melodias had certainly heard plenty of foul things about him. Probable from Agravain. So his first impressions likely weren't the best. Sitting back. Melodias seemed to go into thought for a moment. Before telling Caleb. "He's a good fighter, Quick, Got decent power in his strikes. But he's cocky. One day some ones going to take advantage of that. " Seemed Melodias took the question to refer more to his fighting ability then anything else. Melodias grinned. "Perhaps, If everyones not too damaged from last time. We could have another spar. I'd like to join in this time I think. " Christopher had been the most wounded and might need to sit out. But Lance and Agravain could probable still spar! Though Agravain certainly had gotten a pretty tough blow to his leg. Almost on cue, Melodias heard a excited voice. "You guys are going to spar again?! " Ah, Seemed Ruth had awoken and come downstairs.

Ruth had truly seemed to enjoy watching the sparring. And looking at her. Ruth could see the young girl was grinning brightly. Practically bouncing where she stood. And well, Caleb couldn't find any reason to deny another spar. Not when Ruth seemed all excited! So she said. "Later, If the others are all feeling up to it. " If not, Perhaps they could make a little trip to the castle? Depending on the time of day it was not uncommon to see knights sparring there. Ruth might enjoy watching there! Maybe she'd get to see a knight fully clad in armor as well?

Caleb wasn’t the only one that wanted a word with Christopher, Agravain would quite like one too. Lance on the other hand planned to keep his mouth shut, he’d Have to get Caleb to back off somehow but well…he knew that might be a bit difficult because he wouldn’t have done. Lance was the talk of the table though it seemed, which might please him because yeah, he was cocky. Melodias might be able to put him in his place a bit but Lance was an exceptionally good fighter and Melodias was not the youngest of men. Lance would enjoy the chance to spar with him though.

And Lance was the first person that decided to join them, maybe for the best, Gaheris was not pleasant company and Agravain was not in the best of moods after having to drag Gaheris back home last night. Agravain had got after his brother to stop him from getting into too much trouble but they had ended up in a bit of an argument and that hadn’t helped Gaheris’ mood. Still, at least Agravain had managed to bring him home and hopefully they could resolve things once they all calmed down. Lance was in a better mood, although slightly apprehensive about the Christopher situation, hopefully it didn't crop up though.

Galahad on his hip, as he tended to be, Lance entered the dining room shortly after Ruth. “And what are we feeling up to?” He questioned, setting Galahad down on a seat and raising an eyebrow at them all. Ruth looked excited and Caleb didn’t look too miserable either. ” Wait, let Me guess. Are we going on a trip? Because I do feel like I’ve done enough travelling for twenty men” Lance mused. “But, if two of my favourite ladies are up for it then I might change my mind” Maybe they should travel to the castle, they could spar there and the other knights might enjoy the show plus Ruth could see if anyone had heard of her brother.

Lance reached over and picked up some fruit, popping it into his mouth as he lounged in a chair next to his son. “I don’t know if Chris will want to join our activities. I imagine his shoulder is in a world of pain and maybe some of his pride too after all that drinking. On the bright side, I have more than enough pride to go around” he promised them and it really was clear how much more relaxed Lance was when he wasn’t in control of a horde of knights on a gruelling journey. He could afford to be fun now. But yes, someone should probably show Lance that his pride could Be a downfall although goodness knows his father had tried and so had several of his opponents in the past.

Ruth jumped a bit as she heard Lance's voice behind her. Turning her head around quickly and grinning brightly, Her gaze briefly moving to Galahad who... Well, The poor kid seemed like he was still half asleep. Still bleary eyed and looking as if he might doze off again any second. Ruth though soon brought her gaze back to Lance. Though Caleb spoke up first, Saying teasingly. "The king just sent word, He wants you to go and fetch Arthur and bring him back. " Yeah, No. Caleb had a feeling that Lance would never want to go back to that frozen wasteland again! They'd need to drag him if they wanted him to go. Thus Caleb shook her head and mused. "Ruth was hoping to see you spar again. " She explained.

poor Chris really was a bit of a lightweight. He'd certainly get a decent bit of teasing when he woke up. Caleb couldn't help but find herself chuckling lightly at Lance's behavior. Yeah, Her father probable was a bit right about him. He was cocky. Her gaze then moved to Ruth as the girl took a seat next to Lance. Still seeming excitable. Had Ruth ever seen much of Lance when he wasn't stressed? doubtful. But if Ruth noticed the calm. She didn't mention. Probable too excited over the idea of men fighting.

Ruth then confessed to Lance. "I want to see you and the big guy fight! " Agravain looked tough. Lance was a brilliant knight, But Agravain was huge! But... That might not be a good match. Agravain might take things too far. He didn't exactly like Lance after all! Still, It would be a interesting duel. Melodias's eyes were on Ruth as she spoke. Seemingly appraising her. A slight glint in his eyes but whatever was on his mind. He did not say. Simply leaned back in his seat in thought. While Caleb said. "If you enjoy watching fighting so much. Lance ought to take you to the castle. You can see men fighting, And perhaps Lance could introduce you to some of the more famous knights. " She suggested. Which caused a big grin to grow on Ruth's face, And she was soon looking at Lance expectantly. Oh, He was so going to have trouble refusing her!

Lance sent Caleb an unimpressed glare as she dared suggest he have to make that journey again. Well sorry but Arthur could freeze his arse off for all he cared. His gaze switched to Ruth, a bit more amused at the mention of sparring. She had seemed to enjoy it yesterday and it did think make him think that Ruth herself might enjoy learning how to fight properly. They’d see, she was still getting settled in and they could bring that up another time.

Was Ruth referring to Agravain or Melodias? He would've guessed Agravain which was a fight that was unlikely to happen in A friendly capacity. Agravain would not be playing around and Lance wasn’t necessarily doubting his own ability, he would just rather avoid a death match. “Tough luck, sorry, I don’t think that fight is a good idea” he told Ruth. She could watch him spar with other people though, surely that'd be entertaining enough. He turned to appraised Caleb. “Surely you don’t intend for me to take her on my own?” Lance said. “I can tell you’re itching to get out of this place for a bit” but she had mentioned that she didn’t like going back to the castle at the moment as she was self conscious.

“why don’t we all go and then if anyone looks at you funny, that’ll be the first person I duel.” He suggested, although he knew Caleb didn’t want others to fight her battles but she couldn't do too much fighting herself at the moment. “Once you get that baby out of you, you can pay me back by fighting anyone who says I’m starting to look like my father” Caleb might not be the only one teasing Lance about looking old after all that stress. And oh, if they were going to the castle, were they going to come across Gavin? Because that might be awkward, and confusing. Gavin probably wouldn’t like the idea of a slave either, but Ruth belonged to Gaheris so that was….a paradox. “I would like to catch up on the castle gossip actually” he admitted, what? He’d missed it, and usually Lance was often part of the gossip himself, about what new lady he was with or what had gone wrong with the last one. “Did Daniel ever ask that lady out? Oh, I should’ve given him more tips before I left. And Owen, where was his sword in the end? So many unanswered questions Caleb and you’ve not filled me in at all! Shame on you.”

Caleb paused a bit in thought at Lance's suggestion, She wasn't exactly eager for the other knights to see her in her current state. Sure, She could dress in a loose shirt and it might help hide things. But they'd still surely notice. But eyes were on her and she eventually relented. "I'll... Consider it. " Was the most she could offer at the moment. Her nose then wrinkled as Lance further talked. Yeah, No. She really didn't want him fighting her battles! That would only make things worse. But he did manage to draw a laugh out of her. "Lance, I hate to break it too you. But you do look like your father! " She teased. Poor Lance! He had certainly gained a decent amount of grey hairs during the trip.

Caleb then rolled her eyes. Teasing Lance. "My god man, You sometimes act like such a old lady. " Caleb had a feeling that Lance was going to be inserting himself in everyones business as soon as he had the chance. Melodias seemed interested in gossip though. And soon piped up. "I assume you've already heard about Morgan? " Because well, Her pregnancy was some rather startling information. Caleb took the moment to elbow her father. It felt... Odd to discusss that. Almost wrong, But it was surely something that was one everyones mind. Plus, Lance was Arthur's friend. His opinion on the matter would be interesting to know.

Still, Caleb decided to say. "Don't you start. Thats... Something we should leave to the royal family to discuss. " It was there business. But frankly, Caleb was surprised that Alexander hadn't made Morgan disappear after everything. She just seemed like so much trouble. And her pregnancy spelled bad fortune ahead. Yet it would be difficult to be rid of her. Melodias shook his head and said. "Maybe, But Its on everyones mind. Morgan's fairly far along now. Do you... What do you suppose Alexander plans to do? " Melodias then tilted his head to the side. Murmuring. "This is Agravain's half sibling. Has your husband... Mentioned anything about such? "

Lance was pleased to have Caleb give in at least a little but his joy was soon dashed as Caleb insisted he already looked like his father. He liked to think that he had a bit more of his mother in him personally but obviously no one here had ever met her so couldn’t compare. He wasn’t too upset to be compared to Antonio though, he loved his father, just hoped to stave off the wrinkles for a bit longer although all the sun didn’t help. Still, he didn’t have the same stern or serious look at his father, not usually, and he had more swagger in his step.

Lance gaped in mock offence as she called him an old lady. Well sorry for wanting to keep up with current events in his friends’ lives! He soon shut his mouth and slid a grim look at Melodias as he mentioned Morgan. Oh yes he’d heard and whilst he knew the truth behind the situation, it was not a pleasing pregnancy. Melodias seemed far more eager to gossip than Caleb and he made a good point, had Agravain said anything about this child? “I can’t imagine Agravain is going to leave this child be. He raised his siblings with Gawain, he will want some involvement with the baby although I don’t want to figure out how thays going to work with it being an heir and Arthur’s child” Lance muttered. A lot of people would want an input into this child and he was frankly glad to be staying out of it.

Lance leaned forward, lowering his voice a bit to be more hush hush. “Morgan is not going to have as much control as she thought” he promised them. ”Arthur is not her lapdog any more. Gaheris made him realise he’d been drugged. He won’t be eager to defend her and he surely realises the danger she poses to this child.” He hadn’t actually mentioned that to Alexander whilst Morgan had been in the room, wasn’t sure they wanted her to know but he had let Alexander know separately although he was sure Morgan would hear about it sooner rather than later. “If I had to guess, I would say Alexander will separate Morgan from that child as soon as he possibly can. Arthur is it’s father, he can look after it and Caroline will no doubt be expected to step in as mother. Hopefully Morgan doesn’t get a look in but I’ve heard she’s slippery” Morgan might be able to work her way into the child’s head.

”I don’t like the words about to come out of my mouth, but it’s probably best for the kingdom if Morgan and this child don’t make it through the pregnancy“ his expression was grim. He didn’t wish that sort of fate on anyone but Morgan was a threat to the kingdom and unfortunately so was her child, things would be much simpler and easier if they didn’t have to deal with either of them. Morgan was a terrible person and well….Lance’s mouth moved subjects slightly. “I cannot imagine having her as a mother. I guess we should thank our lucky stars that most of her children didn’t turn out too much like her” yeah, most of, because Gavin did seem to share some disturbing similarities. “Although…Christopher did mention to me that Agravain and Morgan have been talking, I’m not sure how much, but I didn’t think any of them were on speaking terms with her” Maybe something for Caleb to watch out for, had she seen Agravain conferring with his mother more Perhaps? She might not like talking about her husband behind his back though. Surely she had some concerns though, he’d not really share much with her about his childhood, save what he’d revealed to the king, albeit reluctantly.

It seemed Lance was aware already, Something that Caleb was glad for. She didn't want to have to be the one to explain things. But then Lance was further talking, And maybe Caleb didn't want to be involved to much in such discussions. But she couldn't help herself. Leaning in to hear better. Which well, Was what practically everyone at the table had done. All besides Galahad of course. Who had by now already fallen back asleep in his chair. Drugged, Caleb couldn't say she was surprised. Swallowing hard. The siblings had all gone threw hell. Still struggled with there mother. Caleb was aware of it, But she didn't know the details. Didn't ask. Figured Agravain would tell her if he ever found himself ready. She did bristle a bit when Lance brought up her husband. But bit her tongue.

Her father spoke next. A long sigh coming from him. "I suppose from the rumors about her, That isn't too surprising to hear." Shaking his head. He then continued. "I... Don't think the chances of her losing the pregnancy is very likely. She's far along and from my knowledge is in great health. " Sure, Her last pregnancies hadn't ended well. Gareth being her last child to survive. So perhaps she'd lose the child. But Melodias didn't have the highest of hopes.

Caleb then decided to speak up. Huffing. "I think it would be best, If both of you drop the subject. " She warned. It didn't not feel like a good thing to discuss. Besides, Caleb didn't exactly want to talk about her husbands family behind his back. Lance bringing up Agravain had also not endeared her to the topic. What had Agravain and Morgan been talking about? No doubt Morgan simply seeking to bother her children. But how had Christopher known? And why hadn't he brought it up with her? Shaking her head, Caleb then stood up. Hand on her stomach as she glanced between the group. Telling them. "I... Lets just trust King Alexander has a plan. He's a smart man. He won't let Morgan have control over that child. " She expressed. Before informing them. "Now, I need to go upstairs for a moment. I trust you all to change the subject by the time I return. " She warned. Before finally turning and beginning to walk away.

Her father watched as she left the room. Before murmuring. "Mm... If Alexander has any control over the situation. Morgan would have never even managed to get pregnant. " Alexander should have never let her anywhere near the castle. But it seemed he was willing to move topics. Instead his gaze went to Ruth, Who had been leaned in listening. Eyes filled with curiosity. Well, Atleast he had a idea of what to change the subject too. Thus he then grinned. "So, You seem rather taken with the whole matter of sparring? "

Caleb did not seem willing to discuss this matter which was disappointing but maybe they should’ve expected it seeing as Morgan was now her mother-in-law. Agravain would want a say in this child so it was possible that Caleb would end up babysitting this new heir so yeah, she was hardly removed from the situation. Alexander and Gavin did have a plan to prove tang Morgan was an unfit mother so they could take the child away from her, with help and evidence from Agravain and mainly Gawain. Agravain didn’t think that Gawain would like all that stuff revealed though, but maybe it’d be alright since it was to save a sibling.

Lance watched her go before he let his gaze turn to Ruth as well. She had seemed very excited about the sparring. “Was our whole journey not exciting enough for you already?” Lance questioned, although hectic Was a better description. It had mostly been boring travelling then a rush of chaos all at once and obviously she’d had to deal with Gaheris the whole way so he wasn’t really asking her seriously. “I don’t suppose you’d want to join in? Or are you just happy to watch” He wanted to feel the waters, see if maybe she wanted to learn how to fight, maybe even be a knight, or if she just enjoyed the show, plenty of ladies like watching the men show off and flex their muscles.

Lance was a bit curious about what business Caleb had upstairs but maybe he was overthinking it, she may just want to change shirts or go to the bathroom. Agravain was upstairs though, sat by the window trying to figure out what he was going to do with his little brother. He couldn’t have Gaheris thinking they hated him, but he also couldn’t have him misbehaving wildly. He was again wishing for Gawain to be back already. Agravain was also lying in wait for Christopher as well and maybe that’s why Caleb had come up? Anyway, Agravain was keeping an ear out for the man, they’d probably hear him complaining about his hangover to be honest.

Ruth couldn't help but wrinkle her nose at Lance's question. She didn't think anyone that had been on the journey had enjoyed it. It was simply a cold and miserable time! But her eyes did light up a bit when Lance further questioned her. Lance had shown her a bit of self defense during the journey, Ruth had also been in plenty of scraps before she met Lance, So fighting wasn't that unusual for her. Though she did not know how to use most weapons such as a sword. She just had her dagger really. So Ruth squeaked. "Would I get to punch someone? " There were a few people Ruth would very much like to hit. Not that she was going to name any names. A soft chuckle came from Melodias at that.

He then tilted his head to the side. Seemingly in thought before he told playfully. "Of course, Punching people is a must! " He though soon shook his head, Looking towards Lance and informing. "You ought to show her a few things. There are some old practice swords in the armory. " He encouraged. Seemed him and Lance were having the same thoughts. Ruth was looking rather excited at the suggestion and her gaze flashed to Lance. Questioning. "Your going to teach me how to hit someone with a sword?! " She asked. Seeming startled by the idea. But she was grinning and clearly liking the idea.

---
Upstairs, Caleb slowed down as she entered her room. Half expecting to see Agravain still asleep. It was early afterall. But that wasn't the case. No, He was awake though Caleb thought he looked tired. Probable worried, Things had been hectic lately. Perhaps when Gawain returned things would be easier. Agravain would have another shoulder to lean on. But atleast he wasn't completely alone. Caleb intended to stay by his side.

Walking forward, Caleb didn't wait long before she was suddenly hopping into Agravain's lap. Perhaps intending to draw him out of whatever thoughts he had been having. Her lips pressing against his before leaning her forehead against his. She then murmured gently. "Your going to start looking old if you keep frowning like that. " She lightheartedly teased. Before she then shook her head. Murmuring. "I take it things with Gaheris did not go well? " She knew he'd gone after his brother. But well, Both men had not been pleased when they returned home. So Caleb had decided it was a topic best brought up when things had cooled down.

Ruth was more than eager and Lance could probably guess at least one name of who she wanted to punch, he just hoped he wasnt on it. She had been a good enough student when he’d taught her a but of self defence, she was scrappy which was good but she might not a light weapon like Caleb, definitely no broadsword for her. “Apparently so” Lance mused. Lance wasn’t sure he could recall when he’d seen her this excited before and it was a refreshing change from the scared but trying not to show it, slightly downtrodden attitude throughout the journey. She had pulled him through some days with her company though.

He raised an eyebrow at Melodias though. “You not coming old timer?” He teased. ”surely you’ve got a trick or two to teach her” Melodias was probably a fountain of knowledge and they both knew that but Lance decided on being playful instead. Teasing could be a good way to get people to act. “Besides, you don’t want me to teach her all my cockiness…” he murmured as he stood up, and he’d not been part of that situation but: “yeah, I can tell what you think of me. You have that in common with my father, he’s always telling me to be more humble or to stop showing off but confidence goes a long way” overconfidence could be dangerous though. “Besides, if you have it, flaunt it” he grinned cheekily, like with him often taking his shirt off. Ruth would probably tease him about that though.

Agravain noticed Caleb enter but didn’t turn to her, he did look at her though as she sat on his lap and kissed him, putting an arm around her. “As long as ive got myself a pretty young thing what does it matter” he replied easily before his expression grew a bit darker and his tone less playful. “What gave it away? Was it the slamming door last night, the fact that he’s locked his room and not come out since or i don’t know, the entire history of Gaheris’ personality?” He sighed and leaned his head back against the wall with a small thud. “I don’t know what I’m going to do with him. He won’t listen to reason snd he’s being fouler than usual. I was worried about him before he was taken but now after all that time without us, his problems have consolidated and I’m not sure I can fix him”

He just wanted his brother back and he knew that Gaheris had been through a lot, what with Gareth and Gwen and the slavers, the travel back, the shock of adjusting again, maybe he just needed time, but Gaheris seemed so eager to be angry at the world and try to distance himself from his family, it was really worrying. “Maybe I’m going to be a terrible father” he muttered. “I can’t seem to parent anyone without Gawain around” Gawain really was the lynchpin of the family, they all missed him and seemed reliant on him to fix anything they couldn’t.

Seemed they were going to go train. Ruth was still startled by the idea. They were leaving now? Yeah, It seemed like they were going to start now! So, She thus was scrambling to her feet. She'd never tried anything with a sword before. A knife yeah, Her fists. Yeah, That was pretty common for her actually. But a sword? Nope. And she was excited. But Lance seemed to want Melodias to join them, And the man raised his eyebrow at Lance. Oh, One day someone was going to so knock Lance down a few pegs. Of course, Melodias bit his tongue on such. Instead looking between the two and finally relenting. "I suppose it would be best for me to keep a eye on things. " Melodias had plenty of experience. He could provide help. Melodias though mused. "I fear what will happen if she listens to you too much. " He teased, Before moving around the table to join them. Sizing Ruth up. Perhaps he should see if he could convince Caleb to help out? She might enjoy showing Ruth a few things. But Melodias brushed such thoughts away for the moment. Right now, He just wanted to assess Ruth.

---

Caleb tilted her head as she listened to Agravain, Yeah. Those probable were the things that had gave it away. Though to be fair, Caleb sometimes didn't know if Gaheris was angry, Or if such behavior was just his default personality. Her eyes gentle as she leaned against Agravain. Resting her head on his shoulder. She then pointed out to him. "He's been threw a lot. It... Might take a while before anything improves. " If they ever did. Agravain was doubting his abilities to be a good father though, And Caleb gently nuzzled him. Telling him softly. "Dear, Gaheris was a d*ck even when Gawain was around. " She pointed out. Though he was far from this bad. Now... Caleb didn't know what all he had gone threw. Didn't feel right asking. But it had left lasting effects.

Caleb then told him. "I think your going to be a wonderful father Agravain. You already are. " He already seemed to love the baby dearly. He'd do his best. That Caleb was sure of. Speaking of the baby, She figured some happier news might brighten Agravain's day a bit. Thus she informed him. "I've been feeling the baby kick a lot lately. I'm convinced they somehow already want to be a knight. " She teased. Agravain had not been able to mentor Gareth as he had wished. Perhaps he'd get to mentor there kid?

That made Caleb pause for a moment in thought. Maybe it would do Agravain some good to mentor someone. To focus away from all the troubles at home. There was a lot going on, And Agravain might not want too. Not for a while atleast. But, It could perhaps help take his mind off things. Caleb would need to ponder that at a later moment.

The thing with Lance was that he bounced back quickly, even from the times when his pride had proved his downfall. Still, it might be a bit grounding for him to get knocked off his feet by Melodias. Lance’s smiled only grew as the man agreed to join them. He did think that Melodias would be good to help instruct Ruth, he’d taught Caleb and she was a fine knight, he certainly seemed to have the most experience training women. “If she listens to me then she’ll be beating Caleb any day now” Lance ribbed back before going to take them all to get some training in. This could be fun! Unfortunately that meant Galahad was getting dragged around again but Lance did his best not to wake his son.

Agravain knew Caleb was right, Gaheris needed time but it was frustrating and he’d never been the most patient of men. She even managed to get a small smile out of him. “I’m glad you said it, I fear he’d accuse me of not being a real brother if I admitted” but yeah, Gaheris had always been an obstinate, sour brat. And she was reassuring him about his parenting skills which was nice. Caleb obviously hadn’t raised a child before so this would be much more a learning curve for her than him but they had each other for help.

He grinned and moved his hand to her stomach at the mention of kicking, as if the words might summon their child to act. “They can probably feel your frustration at not being able to fight” he joked. “They’re gonna grow up around knights, I can definitely see us mentoring them” A joint page between them, a family affair, like with Gaheris and Gareth but….his child. He was sure they’d be an excellent fighter. “We’re probably starting a dynasty of fantastic knights” already sort of were part of one with Loth and Alexander’s family, her and Melodias. Fighting was in their blood.

”did you really come upstairs to check on little old me?” Agravain asked, leaning forward to kiss her again, it was hard to keep Himself from touching her all the time. “I was planning to go out today actually. Drag Chris to town” he revealed. “He could do with a mace of his own and we might be able to spot something. Maybe I’ll pick something up for you too” he grinned and okay, that actually wasn’t the reason. He hadn’t had much chance to investigate what Morgan had told him about Loth’s friend and he wanted to see if he could go and track them down. Chris had been there so might as well come along for company and to watch his back. Frankly, he figured the deeper he got Chris involved, the more it’d be harder for him to speak without incriminating himself. They could still look for a mace for him though, he’d recognised that Chris had been using one from the castle, and maybe there’d be a nice dagger or sword for Caleb, or maybe something else, like something leather and more intimate. Still, wasn’t the main purpose of the trip. He figured she’d want to spend time with Lance still, as much as it irritated him, the man would be good for a distraction.

Caleb couldn't help but grin. Yeah, Gaheris would not have been happy if he had overheard them. But He didn't exactly like Caleb, So it wasn't as if she could hurt her reputation with him. Agravain seemed happy at the idea of their children being knights. It was no surprise. The two of them lived and breathed for battle. It was hard for them not to want their child to follow in their footsteps. Of course, It was possible the child would want a different future. Gareth hadn't seemed to actually want to be a knight. If such was the case, They'd surely still try to support their child. But it might be difficult for them both not to be a bit disappointed. Caleb then smiled at Agravain. "How young is too young to teach them how to fight? " She said teasingly.

Caleb then grinned. "More or less." Check on him, Make sure he hadn't strangled Christopher. Escape Lance and her fathers gossiping. She had plenty of reasons to come upstairs. Her eyebrow though raised as he kept talking. Smile dropping a bit and seeming rather skeptical. For some reason, Caleb didn't really think Chris and Agravain were exactly friends. Christopher was more her friend that Agravain tolorated. So Agravain wanting to go shopping with him? That was strange. "You promise to bring him back in one piece? " Because she really didn't want Agravain to traumatize poor Chris or something.

Caleb though figured she could hardly stop Christopher and Agravain. So she nodded. Warning him. "You better behave yourself. " She informed. Probing him in the chest. Before seeming to consider things. She then told Agravain. "Maybe you ought to show Chris a thing or two, The way you two fight is relatively similar. " They both could do devastating hits. Christopher might not be as strong as Agravain. Few men held that title- But he was nothing to scoff at. Agravain could perhaps really help him out. Speaking of, Caleb then glanced down and couldn't help but chuckle. "I still can't believe he actually got your leg! Its not too sore? Is it? " She asked.

The pair were getting ahead of themselves a bit, they should wait for Caleb to actually give birth before they talked About training this child. He chuckled gently “the earlier the better they’ll be” Agravain insisted but they couldn’t give a sharp weapon to a child. Agravain was fairly confident that they’d want to be a knight though, how couldn’t they when they had Agravain and Caleb as parents! Agravain might not be too happy if the child decided otherwise.

”I can’t promise but I’ll try” Agravain conceded snd no, him and Chris weren’t best friends but Chris was tolerable sometimes and he should know not to step out of like with Agravain by now. “I’m always on my best behaviour” he insisted, although maybe his best behaviour just wasn’t very good. Agravain and Chris really could be friends though if they tried, they both liked Caleb, had similar fighting styles, what more did you need? Agravain could do with some more friends. He waved Caleb off. “I’m fine, better than when Gareth’s horse kicked me whilst I was teaching him how to ride” That had hurt, but he’d been fine then and he was fine now. He might be limping a bit though .

”don’t worry about us. Enjoy your day” he insisted. “I’ll go wake up Chris. I hope he has a hangover“ That would probably not make the day go any better for Chris, he might be irritable but well, Agravain was still a bit annoyed about him lying to him about Caleb and not fully supporting him on his mission to kill the bad knights. “Serves him right for drinking our wine“ he murmured but it didn’t seem too mean. “I’ll see if I can get him to come round for some more training sessions” he promised, he would help Chris Out if that’s what Caleb wanted. She was a good influence on him.

Caleb narrowed her eyes a bit at Agravain. Chris better come back uninjured or Caleb might have Agravain's hide! But she decided to trust Agravain for the moment. Leaning forward. She gave her husband one last kiss before climbing off him. Caleb then warned him. "Don't be to harsh with him. " Would Christopher remember all that he had told them last night? Caleb wasn't sure, She herself wanted to talk to him. But, She also thought it best to do such when Agravain was away and wasn't sure how to send him off without raising suspicion. So, She'd need to shelf such for now. Shaking her head. Caleb then informed Agravain. "Me and Lance might be heading to the castle today. I think Ruth is wanting to see all the knights sparring. When you and Christopher finish shopping you should join us. " Though he might not want to hang around Lance. Still, It only felt right to make the suggestion.

With that, Caleb paused as she noticed movement out the corner of her eye. Out the window, She could just see Lance, Her father, And Ruth. Well, She should probable go see what kind of trouble they were getting into. Caleb then said. "I should go catch up to them. I'll see you later. " She promised. Finally stepping away and turning around. Beginning to walk away. Maybe she should have stuck around a bit longer to make sure Agravain didn't wake Christopher up to harshly? Nah, She was sure he'd be fine. Agravain wouldn't strangle him this early!

Meanwhile, Poor Christopher was only just beginning to stir. Half asleep and head pounding. How much had he drank? He wasn't sure, But it was enough to make him consider never drinking again. The pain in his shoulder also did not increase his desire to get up. Curled up with the blanket pulled over him. Ugh, He felt gross. And he had this strange feeling as if something was wrong. Like he had done something in his alcoholic state he shouldn't have. But whatever that had been. Christopher couldn't grasp in his mind. So he chose not to worry about it. Simply tried to doze off for a few more minutes.

The news that Caleb might go to the castle was surprising, she hadn’t seemed eager to show her face there but he didn’t say anything, didn’t want to discourage her. It’d be good for her to see the other knights, she couldn’t hide from them forever. He didn’t know how long him and Chris would be but they could probably swing by. He could check on Gavin too, they were at odds recently but she was still his sister. Maybe he’d mention the ordeal with Gaheris to her, she might be able to get through to him. “See you later” he agreed and watched her go.

Agravain got up to go see Christopher. He pushed open the door, only knocking loudly once it was already open. “wake up sunshine” Agravain ordered. “We’ve got work to do” Oh, that was sure to put Chris in a good mood. He moved further into the room, closing the door behind him just in case someone decided to come upstairs for something. “I’ve managed to track down James and I figure we should go see him for a little chat” he explained. See, chris should be happy, they were only investigating that knight Morgan had told them about, Agravain wasn't getting him to kill anyone yet. No, Agravain wanted to know more about his recently deceased father and this James fellow was the place to start.

It was honestly quite dangerous that Christopher didn’t remember what he’d said yesterday. Might come as some surprise then if Lance talked to him about it. Hopefully Caleb didn’t pretend to know and trick it out of him, that would be a bit underhanded, but so had been Lance’s method of getting him drunk in the first place. “and Obviously, not a word of this to anyone else” it’s not like they were doing anything illegal or bad, he just didn’t really want people to know he was following his mother’s advice and he’d rather collect the information before he decided what to share. Certain things would be better kept private, like Loth’s origin.

Christopher heard the sound of the door opening. Which made him tense, Probable Caleb come to wake him up. But then he heard the knock and he knew it was Agravain before he even spoke. Groaning and burying his face into his pillow. A brief moment to prepare himself before he finally sat up. Just in time to see Agravain close the door and uh oh. That couldn't be good. Well, Wasn't this a wonderful start to his morning! Not. Christopher really found himself frowning at Agravain. "I take it I'm not getting a say in this? " He grumbled. He had a feeling if he refused Agravain would just drag him with him!

Chris thus sighed. Standing up. Going to stretch, Only to find himself wincing from the pain in his shoulder. It wasn't too bad, But it still hurt. Christopher though found another thing coming to mind. He had told Lance about Agravain's plan to clean house. How many people knew? For some reason, Chris had a feeling that Agravain wasn't likely to share such information. So, If Lance or anyone confronted Agravain about such... Well... Agravain would probable quickly realize he'd told. That... Wouldn't end well. And maybe Christopher's voice was a bit strangled as he squeaked. "I'd never tell anyone. " Yeah, That was a total lie.

Chris tried to rid such thoughts from his mind. Caleb would probable keep Agravain from killing him! That was a source of comfort. Christopher then looked away in thought. Meeting James, This... Might not go well. Chris wasn't exactly eager to seek the other man out. Or really going anywhere alone with Agravain. So, He decided to delay things. Suggesting. "Can we atleast get breakfast first? " Tone hopeful. Such wouldn't hold things off for long. But it would atleast give him time to think up a way to wiggle out of this!

Of course Chris didn’t get a say. Even if Agravain had been his friend and liked him, it’s not like Chris was on his level, no he was a lower down knight and therefore should listen to his superiors. They were going to talk to James, find out about Loth, see who else were bad seeds in King Alexander’s court and come up with a plan. If Chris wanted to suggest something better than killing them all then he was welcome to but Agravain didn’t think he’d be able to. Maybe they’d give the younger knights a chance to change their ways but the older ones? They would be set in their ways, pests that needed exterminating.

Agravain crossed his arms over his chest and leaned against the wall as he waited for Chris. His voice strange but Agravain just gave him a stern look. “Good, because you don’t want to find out what I’d do to you if you told anyone” he warned. It might not just be bad seeds he was getting rid of. He seemed irritated at the mention of breakfast but he didn’t seem like he’d begrudge him that. “Make it quick, I don’t want to be out too long” he muttered. “I’ve told Caleb we’re going shopping so if she asks that is what you’re going to say, I might even make it true if our meeting With James goes quick enough“ He pushed away from the wall and went to lead Christopher towards the dining room for breakfast.

What would Chris’ plan be to stop this? Agravain could be stubborn and he’d been waiting long enough for this to come about, he wouldn’t be put off easily. Maybe Chris would just settle for Agravain going without him, but it’d be wise for someone to know what Agravain was up to so they could warn someone else. “How’s the shoulder? and the head? I heard you drank quite a lot yesterday“ because he had obviously gone out about Gaheris so not been around for it all. “dont know your limit huh? seems You’ve got a lot of gaps in your knowledge: fighting, women” Lance seemed to want to give him tips after all and he didn’t seem very experienced in women and crushes but Agravain was not a gossip like Lance.

Oh, Agravain was so going to murder him. Maybe he should go ahead and get his will written? Who else would have ratted him out? Christopher tried not to think about his impending doom. Chris though soon was feeling a bit of relief. Good, Breakfast. He could come up with a plan in that time. Some way to keep himself and Agravain out of trouble. Thus he nodded, Trailing after Agravain. Christopher soon found himself frowning at Agravain's question. "They both hurt like hell. " His shoulder more so. But his head was not a nice feeling either. He was so not drinking again any time soon! Except, Agravain kept talking and getting drunk to simply avoid the subject was suddenly rather tempting.

To be fair, Chris hadn't drank that much. He was a lightweight! His cheeks turned a shade of red. But he did manage to muster a bit of bite. Musing. "I know enough to get a hit on you. Hows the leg? " Reaching the kitchen. He huffed. "Why do all of you guys act like I'm some little squire. " Chris hadn't been a full fledged knight for long. Sure, But he had still finished his training. Yet Agravain, Lance, And Caleb even acted as if he was some kid! They even were invested in his love life, Which he totally had under control! By which he ment he was attempting to bury all those feelings and pray they never came to life. But no... Lance and Caleb just had to be nosy and insist he needed help.

Chris though did need help in some ways. Dealing with Agravain for example. The man was going to go too far one day. The talk of cleaning house had him so on edge. But he tried not to let it show on his face. Walking past Agravain to go and attempt to raid the kitchen. Maybe he could convince someone to go with them? Yeah! Agravain wouldn't do anything if Caleb or Melodias was around. Lance could also keep Agravain in line. But it might be more difficult to get him to join them. Chris then glanced back towards Agravain. No one else was around. So... Maybe he could talk some sense into Agravain? He didn't think he could be convinced out of talking to James. But cleaning house? That might be easier, Thus he said. "You... You know if you get caught, Its not going to just effect you? " Agravain was a family person. So Chris was going to try that route! He then pointed out. "You'll be arrested. Your kid will probable grow up without you. And... People could think Caleb's involved. "

Agravain actually seemed pleased that Christopher said he was in pain. Hopefully that pain would drive him to be better next time. And Chris wasn’t just going to roll over and take Agravain’s comments, he was biting back although it might be wise to be careful about how much he fought back. “Just peachy” Agravain rumbled back. His leg hurt, probably enough that most people would take a day to rest it but Agravain wasn’t a wimp, and he had things to do. He was more than capable of pushing through and going about his day.

”because you let us” Agravain replied in slight amusement. Chris needed to fight more against being babied by them but he’d gone quite willingly with Lance yesterday, maybe he hadn’t been happy about it, but he’d listened to Lance’s orders and he didn’t fight too much against all their help. Chris just needed to show a bit more confidence and have a back bone then maybe they’d treat him more like a fully fledged knight.

Chris made a good point, Agravain was not the only one who would feel the repercussions of this. Gawain, Gavin, Gaheris, Gareth, they’d all be affected, and Caleb and this child. But….Gavin had done terrible, terrible things. She’d killed people, probably more than Agravain intended to, and she’d seemed to have tortured people, and eaten them, yet she was hardly in any trouble. Why should Agravain be in more trouble? He was the king’s nephew and doing him a favour. Except a lot of knights were from noble families or even royalty, it could really end badly. “Why would I get caught?” Agravain muttered. “It’s not like the knights are going to say anything” no, because they’d be dead. “You’re starting to sound like a liability, and a coward” he mused. “How about you don’t worry your pretty little head about it, you clearly don’t have the stomach for it, and leave those details up to me” he sneered. “it’s not like you have the skill either, you’d be the one that ended up dead” These were no doubt experienced knights, a lot of them were probably quite old now but that hadn’t stopped Loth from being formidable. Seemed Agravain didn’t trust Chris with the physicality side of it at least but that didn’t mean he could wiggle out of today.

Chris couldn't help but huff a bit. He didn't intend to just let them! It just sort of happened... But perhaps he should be more forceful. It couldn't hurt! But... He didn't want to hurt anyones feelings. Or have someone break his arm or something. He paused in his hunt for food. Yeah, He was going to be more forceful. Starting now! So he turned to Agravain. Crossing his arms. "Agravain, You are a absolute idiot. How are you planning to kill these knights? Sneak up on them? I don't think you are built for sneaking! " Agravain was hard to miss. Morgan might have some tips to help her son out. Poisons and such. But Chris still didn't really think Agravain could pull that off.

Chris then pointed out. "You can't just lure them away or anything, And people will notice that you were the last one with them when they went missing. " He really didn't like the way Agravain spoke to him. Tensed up. He then snapped. "I'm not a coward, Nor a liability. I'm being realistic. And I'm actually trying to look out for you. Going behind the kings back is going to get you killed. " Agravain was a pain. But he didn't want him hurt. He didn't understand why he cared about the jerk. But he did. Though Chris was beginning to realize his back talk was likely to lead him to harm. But... He couldn't bring himself to apologize or stop. A long breath coming from him.

He then grumbled. "Do yourself a favor, Go to the king. Tell him what you think should be done. " The king would probable shoot the plan down. But killing knights. Some high up in Alexanders court? That was not a good plan. What was Agravain going to do when he got caught? His family would completely fall apart Chris thought. They couldn't handle another tragedy. A long sigh came from him as he had finally gathered himself up a small meal and began moving to the dining room.
