Fantasy I Was Fine Until You

Silas found himself tensing up at the mention of Ronan. Swallowing hard and looking away. choosing not to answer, But they both probable knew the answer was yes. Had it been allowed Silas might have married him. Had loved him, Still loved him. But it was a difficult topic. Silas then tilted his head to the side and pointed out. "I... Don't think it would be fair for any girl I marry. I... Wouldn't do that to someone. " Silas planned to resist becoming King. Didn't want that future. Nor did he feel he was fit for the role. Though it was difficult to escape. He didn't want to drag someone else into those troubles. Perhaps his father would eventually force him to marry. But he'd do his best to resist such.

Silas though was frowning, Be there for you all the time. Once more the topic felt like it was being steered closer to Ronan. Pausing for a moment to reach and grab another glass of wine from a passing servant. Yeah, He was so gonna get drunk by the end of this. He waited until the servant was gone before murmuring. "She seems to like you, So... I suppose I'm happy to see that. I just wish she and well... You had been given more choice in the matter. " Who would Caroline been with if she had any say?

Silas then teasingly ask. "I must ask, If you had been given the option to court Anyone. Gender not mattering. Who would you have tried things with? " Would he still have gone for nobility to aid his kingdom? Or would he have sought someone more for love? Silas then grinned and joked. "Any of the knights having caught your eye? " Or maybe a servant? What? Silas was curious!

Arthur was hardly surprised that Silas would’ve liked to marry Ronan but he wasn’t particularly pleased about it. The man had not been very good for Silas and whilst Arthur wasn't exactly happy that he was dead, he was glad he was out of Silas’ life. He knew better than to say so though, maybe once he was nice and drunk he’d mention it though. Arthur didn’t grab a drink from the servant though, he didn’t want to get too drunk whilst still here, it might end badly if he did and besides, Silas had a higher tolerance than him anyway so he had to get a head start.

Arthur was pleased, sort of preened a little as Silas said Caroline liked him. They were certainly getting along better than they had at the start and Arthur felt more comfortable around her than he thought he might’ve. But Arthur was not who she wished she’d been married too. Although, if their marriage had never been arranged, she likely never would’ve met Lance. Arthur remembered her saying there was a servant or someone here that she used to have a crush on since she was little, maybe she would’ve pursued them if she’d really had a choice, if it hadn’t mattered at all.

Arthur almost felt guilty as he was asked about who he would’ve pursued. He did glance around, this wasn’t the sort of thing he talked about with many people, and let alone in public, so he wanted to check no one wasn’t too near or listening in. He probably should’ve grabbed that drink when he had the chance. “I used to have a big crush on Lance” he admitted, keeping his voice low. Lance really did seem to strike it lucky with royalty fancying him although had led to quite a dangerous situation for him. “And I’ve always thought Percival is pretty” he admitted. At least if he had gone after Percival, he was also a prince so there was that benefit and its not like Lance’s family was low ranking. “But I’ve not really courted anyone” he admitted. “The closest I’ve come to that was with Ethan” he sighed and that had hardly ended well. “I probably would’ve ended up alone” he decided. “its not like I’m that good at flirting or have much experience to really know what I like” He’d said a few flirtatious things but he didn’t know what he was doing, just trying his best and yeah, he’d only ever been with a few people, only one of which had actually been a romantic pursuit. There were plenty of fish in the sea but Arthur had retired his fishing rod after he’d been handed one by his father.

Silas couldn't help the amusement on his face at the mention of Lance. Yeah, He could imagine that. Lance just had a certain charm about him. Percival? Silas could not recall if he had met the man before. But he'd heard stories and was sure he'd come across him sooner or later. Silas might need to go and visit him! could be interesting. Silas then grinned. "Oh, As pretty as you are. I think eventually someone would come to you. " He teased. Before turning and searching threw the crowd. Musing. "To me, It seems like you have a certain way of finding the pretty boys. That Vere kid was certainly handsome. " Messing with Arthur was fun. It was hard to resist such behaviors.

Silas then took another drink of his wine. Taking note that a few of the nobles had begun taking to dancing in the ball room. Perhaps he might have tried to join them. But he didn't much feel like dealing with uptight noble ladies. Still, his gaze flickered towards Arthur and he told him. "I want to dance. C'mon. " Reaching to grasp Arthur's hand in the hope of pulling him away.

Silas knew better then to dance in front of all the nobles though. That would be a complete scandal! But, there were other rooms in the palace. Most of the guests were confined to the ball room or courtyard. The throne room though? Later others might enter. But for now, Silas figured it would be empty. A perfect place to dance and take a breather. Technically they weren't leaving the party either! Just, Celebrating in a different room for a bit!

Silas seemed to have faith that Arthur would not have ended up alone and it came with the added addition of Silas calling him pretty. Arthur flushed at his words, and his cheeks only darkened further as he continued talking. He, of course, knew that Silas was teasing him a bit but they were nice words to hear really. Arthur didn't get too long to bask in his words though before he was being dragged off by Silas. If he’d resisted then Silas probably wouldn’t have gotten very far because as he’d said before, Silas was a bit scrawny whereas Arthur was a bit more muscular. Arthur was feeling a bit woozy from his earlier drink though and had little incentive to fight against Silas so let himself be dragged off.

He was frowning though. Dance? Him and Silas? Who would lead! It’s not even like they’d be able to hear the music that well. But, Silas wasn't one to do things sensibly or logically, just whatever whim took him it seemed to Arthur. “You want to dance with me?” Arthur still couldn’t help but ask a little confused, the alcohol was definitely catching up with him a little, even if he wasn’t drunk, it was making his thoughts a bit slower and foggier. “Is this because you want to be one of my pretty boys?” Arthur teased with a grin.

”I wanted to ask what you thought about Vere actually” he murmured, he hadn’t gotten the chance to really ask earlier. He knew they hadn’t met long but he wanted to know if Silas really did want to help him, what his thoughts on Vere in general were and if he thought Vere like Arthur at all, had he managed to get a read on him? He figured maybe Vere had been a bit too quiet for Silas to really gauge much though. Arthur looked around the throne room once they were actually alone in it, it felt strange to be in someone else’s throne room rather than his father’s. “You know, my father knew I liked men, didn’t bother to talk to me about it though” he murmured. “Only let it drop when I got caught“ he sighed. ”didn’t talk to me about a lot of stuff actually, only once things got big, not the little problems. I always used to think that my mother being overprotective is what made him take a back seat but I’m starting to think he just didn’t have a lot of time for me” he murmured. Of course he knew Alexander was a busy man, he was a king, but he was also still Arthur’s father. “I’m being unfair, he has a lot of important duties, a whole kingdom to look after, I’m lucky he gave me the time he did” Alexander had trained him, he saw his father at mealtimes and he could often find him in the throne room, it just would’ve been nice for Alexander to carve out some time for him to do other things, like play games with him when he was little or take him out horse riding or something, it was always Arthur going to his father, never Alexander seeking him out, not unless he was in serious trouble and well, that was rare. It made him feel bad to complain about his father though, he understood Alexander had a lot to do, and look who he was complaining to! Silas hardly wanted to hear about how Arthur had some slight quibble with his father, not when Silas had Rayner as a father.

Silas was certainly pleased when Arthur followed him, Entering the throne room and turning to face Arthur when the other began speaking. Musing playfully. "Maybe... Though I'm not sure you would be able to handle me. " He teased. Silas could be a bit... Wild at times after all. Pausing briefly at the question of Vere. Ah, The boy had seemed alright enough to Silas. Though clearly a bit in his shell. Silas wasn't given much of a chance to go over such though. Because Arthur was bringing up Alexander. And well, Silas briefly if the king had received Silas's gift. He'd need to send him a letter eventually. But he was soon focused back on Arthur's words.

Silas's expression softened, He'd known? Perhaps he had thought it better not to mention it. Avoid the subject. Though Silas hardly approved of such. Alexander was guilty of more then just being guilty. Silas had heard about what he'd forced Arthur to do to Kay. And while he may not care that much for Kay, He cared about Arthur. Knew that it had probable hurt him. Shaking his head. Silas then said. "He might be king, But he's also your dad. He can't not be there. " If he was around Arthur enough to tell his interests. He was around enough to talk to him.

Silas then finished his drink and well. Maybe he was also feeling the effects of the alcohol. Hopefully he wouldn't get too drunk by the end of the night! Setting the empty glass down. Silas then confessed. "I'm pretty sure my dad knew about my relationship with Ronan. I hardly tried to hide it much. " Not that his father mentioned knowing. Maybe hoped it would go away if he didn't acknowledge it? Or maybe he simply didn't care?

“Well, we won’t know until we try” Arthur shot back playfully but if he had to guess then Silas would eat him for breakfast in those sort of matters; Silas was far more of a wild child than Arthur and had plenty more experience. Besides, Silas seemed to prefer older men which Arthur figured must stem from his daddy issues but he wasn’t going to say so to Silas’ face, not unless he got a bit more drunk. And speaking of fathers, Silas seemed to think that Alexander should’ve given him more time. Arthur liked to think of his father as a fair man, one he could respect and hope to be like, but he had been rather to cruel to Arthur before he left. He’d made him whip Kay which was bad enough as it was, but Alexander had also known that Arthur had slept with Kay so that only added onto the damage it had done to Arthur.

Arthur couldn’t say he would be too surprised to hear Rayner say he knew about Silas and Ronan, they hadn’t exactly been subtle when they’d come to his kingdom. And Arthur wondered if Silas hadn’t hidden it much because he wanted his father to know. He didn’t know when Silas and Rayner had first fallen out, but maybe once things had been repairable and Silas had been doing it partially for the attention of his father except Ronan only seemed to have succeeded in isolating Silas. “Yeah tell me about it. I think I’m still traumatised from walking in on the two of you” Arthur said before making his way closer to Silas.

”So, are we going to dance?” Arthur asked. “You may have to be patient with me, I’m not used to dancing with another man” he admitted, only ladies. He went to assume some sort of dancing position although he was more than happy for Silas to adjust where he gripped. “Can I ask you a question?” Arthur started. “You don’t have to answer, or….you can ask me one, but….did you ever notice that your relationship with Ronan was unhealthy?” He asked. “I know you loved him but I’m not convinced he ever had your best interests at heart” and he knew this was dangerous territory, Silas didn't like people talking bad about Ronan but Arthur could remember Silas bruised and scared enough to move to a different room to escape Ronan. Maybe Silas hadn’t put up much of a fight to stay close to his family, maybe he’d already hated Rayner at that point but had he not noticed how Ronan made Silas dependent on him?

Silas couldn't help but snicker at Arthur's words. Poor Arthur had very much looked shocked by the entire event! "oh? I'd figured you'd enjoyed the view. " Silas was hardly modest and couldn't resist teasing Arthur. Then he was stepping closer a the conversation moved to dancing. Lightly taking Arthur's hand and musing. "Don't worry, We can take things slow. " He promised. Though he was sure they'd look like a mess. But that hardly mattered. It was just them here after all. But, Things soon became tenser and Silas was being questioned.

It was... A uncomfortable question and Silas paused. Looking away for a moment. It took him a bit of time to find his voice. But eventually he did. "Of course I knew. " Silas then shook his head. Not looking directly at Arthur. "He wasn't always.. Sometimes- I..." He stumbled a bit on his words. Seeming uncertain in them for a moment. A long sigh came from him before he told Arthur. "Sometimes things were great. Other times... " Trailing off. Silas then decided to lean into Arthur.

Silas then murmured. "I loved him, Things were easier with him. Sometimes he was horrible. But other times... He was sweet, Comforting, I respected and looked up to him. I knew he'd always be there for me. " Sometimes he had felt like the only person Silas had. Sure, He had Caroline. But other then that? Silas didn't want to think about such things. Wasn't sure Arthur would really understand his feelings for Ronan. Lance seemed to have thought him weak for feeling such. For grieving. Did Arthur feel the same? Perhaps they were right. Silas felt weak often. But he still murmured to Arthur. "But I also understand what I am. I'm a prince. I can't let myself be controlled. So I dealt with that problem and Ronan is no longer a threat. I might not want to rule this kingdom. But I will protect it. "

Even if he could appreciate that Silas was handsome, he didn’t think that voyeurism was really his thing; it felt far too awkward. At least he didn’t have to worry about that too much now since Silas was pining over Lance. Arthur found it sweet the way he promised to take things slow but things were soon turning….sadder. It was sort of heartbreaking that Silas knew Ronan had been bad for him. He wasn’t sure Silas realised how fully Ronan had groomed him but he at least recognised that Ronan hadn’t been a shining beacon of humanity. Didn’t mean that Silas didn’t miss him though and his heart really went out to the other prince. “I’m not sure I could've done the same” he admitted. Ronan had been controlling, but Silas had loved him and Arthur found it difficult to contemplate killing someone he loved, although luckily those he loved didn’t seem to pose too much threat to his kingdom.

”nor do I understand your rejection of the throne” he confessed. “It’s a lot of responsibility, I get that, and I’m not exactly hungry for it, but when the time comes, I won’t abandon my people. It’s our duty to look after them. You claim you want to protect your kingdom but you’re so eager to abandon the throne, you’ll be able to help them much more if you’re king.“ he reasoned. “and from what I’ve heard, your father is keen to replace you. Surely it’s best for someone not like your father to be the next king?” He implored, looking at Silas with soft eyes and slight confusion. Silas being king meant helping the people and annoying his father, what more could he want?

“What exactly do you plan to do with your life if you’re not to be king?” Would Silas travel, or stay here? Whoever took the throne instead may put a bounty on him, in case he changed his mind and decided to claim to the throne, it might be dangerous for Silas to stay here. “I wouldn’t know where to begin. My whole life I’ve known that eventually one day I’d take over from my father, never really contemplated a normal life. I guess if I weren't a prince, I’d be happy to be a knight going on quests but that’s really no surprise is it” maybe if he’d been a questing knight then he’d have visited his mother’s family more often, or even his father’s side, reach out rather than remain a lonely only child.

Silas frowned a bit at Arthur's words. Maybe Arthur wouldn't be able too. But... Silas figured it was a idea that Arthur might need to become familiar with. Would he be able to put his kingdom first? He had to. Though such was a grim thought process and Arthur was further questioning Silas. Causing him to tense up. "There are others more capable then me to rule. Wiser men. I'd rather see them take the throne then me. " Finally he looked up at Arthur. Shaking his head. "My dad is a horrible man to me. But as much as I hate it, He has been a good ruler. Ruled for a longtime. " This was a kingdom with much discourse in the land. But Rayner had kept things together. Kept himself on the throne and done well for the kingdom. Even if he was a awful human in every other aspect of his life.

Silas then told Arthur. "I... I want to be selfish. I don't know what I'd do. But it doesn't matter, Because I... It would be what I'd choose. " Perhaps he'd travel. Get out of the kingdom. Sure, He loved his home. Had returned to it seeking some form of comfort. But maybe it would be easier to leave. Besides, Whoever became the next king might not approve of him staying. Thus he might be forced to leave.

Though Arthur did bring up a interesting subject. His father wanted to replace him? Silas couldn't say he was surprised. Maybe his father had finally taken heed of his insistence of not wanting to be king? No, Silas doubted Rayner would ever do anything to benefit Silas. But it was a thought he didn't linger on. Instead questioning. "You really haven't thought about another future for yourself? " His desire to want to quest was hardly surprising though. Silas then murmured gently. "You know, Your dad isn't here. The throne is far away and I imagine it'll be a long while before you inherit it. " The king had seemed fairly healthy afterall. So Silas tilted his head and mused. "You don't... You don't need to be so strict on yourself."

There was always likely to be someone better, faster, smarter, but but how much better were they? Enough for the chaos Silas’ abdication would cause for it to be worth it? And how would he even know a better man would take the throne, those that fought for a throne so desperately, often didn’t deserve it. Lots of cruel men could abuse that power. And frankly he was a little surprised to hear that Rayner hadn’t, must be because he hated Silas only. ”you giving up the throne will cause a lot of discord” Arthur murmured. “Your kingdom might not fare well from it” From what he knew, this kingdom could do without more fractures and conflict.

Silas wanted to be in charge of his own life and choices though, something he’d tried to get for Caroline when he’d come to break up the wedding. He hadn’t be successful then though, would he be successful when it came to himself? He sighed as Silas questioned him though. “Not really no” Thinking about a different life where he wouldn’t become king just….”there’s only sorrow to be found in dreaming of a life I can’t and won’t have” he insisted. He would be king, because he wouldn’t abandon his kingdom, there was no point fantasising about running off and making pottery or something.

”I don’t think I can help it” Arthur said with a wry smile. It wasn’t surprising He was strict with himself; it required a lot of discipline to be a knight, his mother always expected him on his best behaviour, the kingdom was always watching his moves and his father wanted Arthur to be as successful a king as him and his father. There were a lot of expectations on him at all times, he never had much time to relax, he didn’t rebel like Silas so wasn’t used to letting himself breathe and just….be silly, and recent events had only made him more tense. “I’m not exactly used to being loose” he admitted. “Maybe you can teach me” Silas was his fun friend after all, actually most of his friends were probably more fun than him, like Vere and Lance.

“I know I don’t have much of a reputation left, but I want to save what I do have” he murmured. “A king needs for have some respectability. That being said, you’re right, I would like to relax a little. It’s not like I’ll have much chance to be irresponsible once I'm a father“ he pointed out, “so…I know you’re quite wild, but I would very much appreciate it if you could maybe help me try new things whilst I’m here” And to just have a good time he guessed. This was meant to be a punishment but Arthur would rather try and enjoy himself, broaden his horizons a little. “You said we’re going to town at midnight. Where to? A bar?” Or somewhere more scandalous and seedy? ”I’m sure your kingdom probably has some different alcohol than back home, maybe we should start there?” He suggested. Maybe they should go gambling or something, try their hand at a card game, Arthur had actually be quite good at a few when playing against his mother but they’d probably have different games here. “Or maybe we should go adventuring“ he suggested, that would certainly be up his alley. “But we have to invite Vere if we do” he insisted, that was his thing although he figured Silas was more into lazy sort of luxury, lounging about somewhere getting drunk or with a woman, rather than climbing and investigating ruins and things.

”I’m not sure I really know who I am without the future of the throne” he admitted. “i‘ve always been a prince, and a knight, but I guess not much else” His whole life had been about being king one day, learning how to look after the kingdom, how to act, what expectations he had to fill. “I think I’d like to find out” he added. “i just don’t know where to start” Silas was freer than him, thought more about himself and who he was. Silas was fun, and teasing, and wasn’t afraid to think of himself, he had dreams and wishes outside of what he’d been born to be, Arthur really could use with some of his help to discover himself.

Hey, Sorry, I'll do my best to reply tomorrow. My family got a new dog, Plus the holidays coming up have had me be pretty busy lately.

(She's cute! She's a dutch shepherd and well... I don't think she was treated well in her last home. But she's starting to open up with us! I'll send a picture of her to you on discord!)

Arthur clearly hadn't had many chances to enjoy himself and well.. Explore. But he didn't seem opposed to the idea. Perhaps a few months ago Arthur's response might be different. Silas couldn't help but snicker slightly as he listened to Arthur. "You, Not used to cutting loose? noo. I would never have guessed. " He teased playfully. Nudging Arthur gently before thoughtfully tilting his head to the side. "Mm... A bar would be a good choice. Though I am a bit worried, You are a lightweight after all. " He mused. Hopefully Arthur wouldn't get too drunk. Because if he did? Well, Silas doubted he'd be able to carry Arthur back home. They might have to sleep in town. But Silas didn't think that would be too bad. Ment they'd be able to enjoy being away from the castle for longer.

Adventuring was nice. But Silas shook his head. Warning Arthur. "Adventuring is best done in the daytime around here. " If Arthur still wanted to explore. They could do so tomorrow when the sun was high. His expression became gentler the more Arthur talked. Listening to him and Silas leaned closer. Murmuring. "Well, I suppose the first place to start. Is who do you want to be? " To Silas, Who Arthur was was well... Rather clear. He was a sweet man that tried his best to please. But Arthur might not see himself as that, But he probable had a idea of what kind of person he wanted to be. That was something to strive too.

Silas then shook his head and told Arthur. "Now, I hope you don't stress to much about all this. Else you might end up getting grey hairs! " Arthur was far too young for all this stress. But... Silas supposed it could not be helped. He had a lot on his shoulders. Silas carried a lot too. But... It did feel easier with Arthur here. Silas hoped his own presence helped Arthur atleast a bit. At the very least Silas was able to actually get Arthur to go off and have fun! So that was a good thing.

(We reckon the same with our boy Bengal. He used to be really skittish and would only let me touch him but he’s got a lot bolder and is happy now, although he’s still picky about who he likes and only really sits on my lap. At least she’s looked after now!)

Arthur rolled his eyes as he was teased but it was hardly unsurprising and at least Silas managed to drain some of the tension. “How can I ever stop being a light weight if no one takes me drinking” Arthur countered. He might still be able to make it back even if really drunk, he should have good control of his body and balance after all, but obviously the drink would mess up some of that. Maybe it would be good for them to spend a night at an inn or something though, get a nice lay in and then go explore the city for the day. Although that felt a bit mean to Caroline, he shouldn’t just abandon her like that, even if she was probably happy to do things without him hovering over her, and it would certainly work to annoy Rayner so….pros and cons.

Silas asked a thought provoking question and Arthur supposed he’d have to ponder on it for a bit. “I would say a fair and good king but again, that just rotates around what I’m expected to become, not about me as a person” he murmured. ”I don’t know yet” he admitted. He wanted to be nice, and kind, and fair and he wanted to have strong bonds with his friends and feel a little freer in himself but he wasn’t sure that was really what he should be aiming for. Lance for example might wish to become the greatest knight and even better father, maybe Arthur too shouod think about his progeny. He didn’t know. At least he had some time to figure it out.

”we can’t have that” he agreed. “Otherwise I might lose my title as most attractive prince at this castle” he joked. Not even would, just might. Arthur was only playing of course, Silas was a fine looking man, although he supposed the ladies of the court and town were likely used to his looks be now, whereas they might see Arthur as more exotic and unusual. “Although you seem to like silver foxes so I might be alright” he added with a grin. ”if you see anyone you fancy, I could always be your wingman” Arthur offered but he seemed more intrigued by the idea than anything else. “Although I don’t think I’ll be very good. I don’t have tons of practice flirting, I’ve never tried to pick up any girls, for obvious reasons, and never really needed to. Girls are quite happy to flirt with me“ like when Aiden had been trying to get their attention. “I imagine it’s the same with you?” He ventured, even for status and money alone, girls must come up to him all the time. “And dressed up like you are? They’ll be all over you” Arthur insisted with a fond smile. Silas really did look sensational tonight and he was certain the moonlight would do something special for his skin. Silas did seem to abstaining though, whether that would change or not was another matter. ”I’m going to have to beat them off with a stick just to get some of your attention”

(Sorry if this post isn't that great! Trying to get back into the swing of things! )

A soft laugh came from Silas at that. Perhaps Arthur was a bit too eager to start practicing drinking. But it would be entertaining at the least. Gently shaking his head. Before his expression turned to one more thoughtful as Arthur continued talking. He wanted to be a good king. It was all he knew to focus on. But Silas hoped Arthur would ponder the topic of what he wanted to be more. Maybe he'd do more thinking on the topic as well. What exactly did he want if he did forgo being king? He wasn't sure. But it was a exciting topic.

"Ha!" Silas scoffed as Arthur kept talking. Well, Wasn't Arthur being cocky! But, both of the men were perhaps equally as handsome. Simply in different ways. Silas then mused. "Its not my fault! Experience can be enticing. " He teased playfully. But Arthur was right. Silas preferred older women and men. But there was exceptions to that rule. Such as with Lance. He could not lie that at times he did find Arthur attractive. But Silas figured that most people thought such of Arthur. Teasing the man was also becoming one of Silas's favorite hobbies!

Silas moved one of his hands to place on his chest and said. "Oh? Does that mean you'll be my valiant knight to chase off any rival suitors? " He teased before seeming to consider the question. Silas then told Arthur. "Indeed, But flirting can be fun. Especially with someone that blushes easily. " He said. gesturing towards Arthur. Yeah, It was easy to get Arthur red in the face. Silas then shook his head and told Arthur. "But, I don't think I've truly ever pursued many people. Outside of just a night of fun. " It was easy to find someone to sleep with. But Silas didn't tend to go any further. He'd only romantically been with Ronan. And he certainly saw Lance in a romantic light. But other then that? There weren't really many connections there.

(No worries, glad to have you back and I’m probably rusty too to be honest)

Arthur hadn’t really thought about Silas’ attraction towards older partners in that way but he supposed it made sense, maybe it was more enjoyable to sleep with someone who knew well what they were doing, Arthur couldn’t really say, sure he’d slept with Morgan and Kay who both seemed relatively experienced but he had been drugged at the time so it was hard to accurately judge although he would admit that at the times he had enjoyed joining them in bed, but again, that was probably largely to do with the drug, in Morgan’s case particularly. Instead, Arthur seemed to have partners with little to no experience such as Caroline, Ethan and also with his interactions with Vere. He’d honestly found it a relief that Ethan and Caroline had been as inexperienced as him, put him at ease but maybe it would be nice to be taken care of in the bedroom by someone experienced. Then again, he imagines by now Silas was probably more experienced than the people he was picking up!

He smiled in amusement as Silas asked if he’d be his shining knight. “I don’t think I can fend off that many people” Arthur replied. You’d think plenty of people would be fawning over Silas, although the intimidation of him being a prince might stop a few and if he had to guess, many had already had a shot, he didn’t really know how selective Silas was. As if on cue, Arthur blushed as he was referred to. He knew he got a bit flustered at all Silas’ bold comments but he thought he was getting better, he did tease back every so often and he was more used to Silas’ lack of shame. His blush would probably not be helped if Silas mentioned that he genuinely found Arthur attractive, sure he had come onto Arthur a bit when visiting his home but that had seemed more out of either loneliness or pushing his buttons, and Arthur of course could see that Silas was gorgeous but he was still his wife’s brother! “Probably more than me“ Arthur pointed out but that was hardly difficult. He’d been arranged to marry Caroline, Morgan had most definitely pursued him, Ethan had also approached him. The only people he’d really tried to come onto first was Vere and Lance which was to varying degrees of success but neither would he say was to an outstanding reception. He had thought about other men, knights in particular but he had never been bold enough, stupid enough or drunk enough to bring it up to them. “Then again, I’ve never really tried to pursue someone for a one night stand either,” he mused. He found It hard to separate his emotions from such a thing, like with Kay.

”We don’t have to look for a partner for you” Arthur promised, it was probably quite good for Silas to be on his own for a while, not depending on someone what with how long he’d been in a Ronan’s clutches. “I just think it’s for the best if you try to get over Lance” he admitted, although that was easier said than done, Arthur himself still had a lingering for him and wasn’t exactly over his other partners either. He didn’t want to upset Silas but there was no way Lance actually fancied him, right? “I could probably do with getting over Ethan myself” he added, a bit quieter. He had kissed Vere, did like the man but Ethan had been his first proper relationship and it had ended so chaotically, even if they’d cleared things up a bit, it was still upsetting to think about and the hurt was still there. He missed him to be honest.

Silas chuckled at Arthur's comment. "I dunno. I think you could stand your ground. " He played. Arthur was a fine knight after all! But he could be a bit innocent at times. Silas liked that. It was cute. Though Silas feared it would lead Arthur to a good few broken hearts. The last few months hadn't been the best for poor Arthur. The topic seemed to become more serious and Silas took a moment to look away. Arthur was right. There was a chance Silas might never see Lance again. But it wasn't that easy to untangle oneself from there feelings. Arthur probable knew that very well. So Silas leaned forward. Resting his forehead against Arthur's shoulder and letting out a long sigh.

"I... I know, But.. Lets change the topic for now. " Silas didn't want to think about such things. Even if eventually it was a problem he'd need to deal with. So, He stayed quiet for a moment before leaning away. Glancing towards the window. His father would want him and Arthur back at the party. But Silas didn't much care. He didn't want to much deal with that at the moment. Besides, They had atleast presented themselves in front of the guests. Though... Many were probable still expecting Arthur to introduce himself.

Still, Silas looked at Arthur. Musing. "Don't suppose your willing to slip out of this stuffy castle a bit earlier then expected? " He questioned curiously. Though he was uncertain if Arthur would agree. Silas didn't think Arthur was much the type to sneak off. Though he probable wanted to be away from the party just as much as Silas did. Silas then told Arthur. "I fear if we spend to much longer here we might become just as snobby as the rest of those fools in there. " He played.

Silas didn’t seem eager to talk about his doomed crush on Lance at the moment but Arthur could hardly blame him for that, it always hurt to know a crush or relationship wouldn’t work out the way you wanted. Silas instead seemed depserate to escape which….wasn’t surprising. Arthur was unsure to say the least; he’d barely introduced himself to anyone at the party and Rayner would be very annoyed with them if they didn’t return. That being said, Arthur didn’t really want to go back, he didn’t fancy people insulting him more about his marriage, his child, his family and his kingdom. Supposedly there were people that supported his marriage to Caroline, not that he’d really talked to any of them and he bet they were far and few between, he’d likely have to listen to plenty of insults before he got one reassuring comment.

”I feel it might take me a bit longer than you” Arthur teased gently with a soft reserved smile, Silas was certainly at least a bit snobby about slaves with the way he’d examined Kay when Arthur had first received him. “Your father won’t like us leaving” Arthur pointed out although the was well aware that Silas cared little for his father’s opinion, but…Arthur didn’t really want the guilt of Silas being hurt on his conscience as punishment for their abandonment of the party. Again though, Silas had said that Rayner would hurt him most days and Arthur would just be used as an excuse for it.

But, it had been Silas’ suggestion and Rayner wouldn’t like them slipping out at any time, especially since he’d confined Arthur to the castle, plus the party really did feel awkward and oppressive, he would much prefer to go with Silas and enjoy himself a little. Arthur wasn’t an irresponsible person but he had said he should try to be looser. So, he looked at Silas carefully, weighing up the options. “If you’re that desperate to get out of here then we can go” he agreed, if a bit reluctantly. Rayner was going to be furious. Maybe they should come back tonight if they were going to be drunk, Arthur would do a terrible job of trying to protect him but maybe it’d at least numb the pain that Rayner would inflict on Silas. It might be better for them to stay the night in town though, trek back in the morning once they were a bit more sober. Caroline might not be happy with his abandoning her for another night though. ”do you think that guard will charge us extra for leaving during such an important event?” Arthur mused. Gosh he hoped Silas gave him A coat again, it was cold enough in the daytime, let alone at night, maybe some alcohol would keep him warm though, and Arthur wasn’t even sure they were going drinking but it did seem like something Silas enjoyed and Arthur did need to build up his tolerance. And were they going somewhere seedy because was that really safe at night as two princes? but it’s not like they could really bring a guard along, and Arthur doubted Silas would let him nip and get a knight. “I just want to say right now, that if Caroline gets upset with me I’m telling her it was all your idea” which was true enough and probably something Caroline would guess anyway but this was the second night he was leaving his wife for her brother and ever since they’d arrived he sort of felt like he’d hogged Silas a bit.

Silas nearly rolled his eyes at Arthur's words. Yeah, Silas's father would be furious. But when wasn't he mad at Silas? But he found himself happily surprised when Arthur relented. A large grin forming on his face. Laughing gently. "Oh! I might just make a bad boy out of you yet Arthur! " He teased. Though he highly doubted that would be the case. Shaking his head as Arthur further talked. "Pfft.... She'll know it was my idea. Just be disappointed you were silly enough to listen to me. " He told playfully. Caroline knew her brother. Knew what kinda nonsense he got up to. So stepping away. Silas took Arthur's hand. Hoping to lead the other along.

Silas knew these halls well. The best routes to slip past everyone. But he was very much aware that the two's clothing would draw attention. For one. It was hardly warm enough to descend into the cold. And two, It was far fancier then what would be considered the norm in the city. Silas didn't want them to get robbed! So it might be best if they completely changed clothes. Going to Silas's room would be easy enough. But Arthur might have trouble changing. Caroline would be in the room afterall and she'd surely ask questions if she saw him. So instead Silas frowned in thought before saying. "Hmm... I think I have some warmer clothes in my room that might fit you. " He said as he continued to walk.

Now, Silas knew very well that his own clothes would not fit Arthur. Silas was a tad shorter then him. But also much scrawnier. But, Silas didn't just have his own clothing in there. He was sure Arthur could rifle threw everything and find himself something proper. But Arthur might not feel comfortable wearing such things. So, Instead Silas also suggested. "But, If you think you can sneak past Caroline. You can change into your own clothes. Or maybe ask one of your knight friends for something? I just... Think it would be better if we dressed a little less fancy. " He informed. Gesturing towards his own clothes. Plus they'd be able to get something warmer on.

Arthur was uncertain if accepting Silas’ proposal had been a good idea; it seemed to make the other man happy but Arthur knew the consequences were going to be harsh. Even his own father would not be happy at him ditching such an event and likely would’ve punished him, although Arthur would probably not have left the party if he’d been back home. Silas didn’t fill him with confidence either as he confirmed that Arthur had made a silly decision but his hesitation was soon over taken by a slight tingle in his hand as Silas grasped it and led him along. Silas’ hand was pleasantly warm. Things would be fine…ish, they’d have fun and Silas would get to enjoy himself for a bit and hopefully so would Arthur.

”you mean ask one of my babysitters?” Arthur corrected him “they’d stop me in my tracks and escort me right back to the party” he murmured. He did not think the knights would be very helpful. Arthur had shown a recent propensity for running off and getting into trouble, none of them would be happy to endorse that and some may find themselves worried or concerned for him. Those already here didn’t seem to like Silas so would disapprove of them disappearing together and those that had just arrived knew Arthur had been making a lot of reckless decisions lately. Gawain really didn’t like Silas and could probably guess that’s who Arthur was leaving with, he might be concerned for Arthur but he didn’t think he’d help. Percival would not be at all impressed and would drag him back to the party if he had to. Galehaut hardly like Arthur so he’d be no help and the rest of the knights likely didn’t want to risk a scolding themselves if it was found out they’d helped Arthur escape his duties and the castle.

The question was would Caroline stop him though? She might ask questions about what he was doing and why he wasn’t at the party. She might even be disappointed in him but she wouldn’t necessarily stop him. She might actually think it was a good idea for Arthur to keep Silas company, to keep an eye on him and make sure he had a friend. Honestly, Caroline may even want to join them if she was feeling well enough. Arthur had a feeling that she might not feel well enough though and that was going to make him feel bad, if he went into that room and Caroline was poorly and sad and disappointed in him then he’d never leave the castle, he’d probably stay with her or return to the party after apologising to his wife. Probably another reason why he wouldn’t go! But….Arthur had already said yes to Silas. “Best not to chance it” he decided. ”let’s see if you have anything that fits me” it didn’t even have to fit well, it could be baggy on him! And Arthur wondered whose clothes they would be because they wouldn’t be Silas’. Would they be just a random partner of his? Or maybe the clothes had once belonged to Ronan? Maybe best not to ask then.

”is this going to become a regular thing?” Arthur asked, two nights in a row they’d hung out together snd this would be their second time sneaking out as well. Not that he necessarily minded, it just wasn’t how he thought this visit would go. “Maybe I should store some of my clothes in your room if it is“ he mused, although that may raise some eyebrows. “Assuming you don’t grow sick of me” he added. He was aware that they had had arguments in the past and that their relationship had been a bit rocky with somewhat of a breakdown towards the end and he also wondered if Silas would grow bored with him, after all he wasn’t sure how long he’d be able to keep up with the other prince. Still, he hoped their friendship would strengthen and persevere.

Silas continued leading Arthur along. Glancing back briefly as they spoke. Seemed Arthur didn't think any of the other knights would cover for him. Though Silas couldn't say he was surprised. Silas hadn't really gotten a good impression from any of them. But he kept his mouth shut on that. So it seemed they'd be shuffling threw Silas's closet to find something that would fit! A soft laugh came from him as Arthur kept talking. musing. "The servants would certainly start talking when they found your clothes. It would be entertaining to see what kind of gossip they'd come up with. " Silas then shook his head. Musing. "As annoying as you can be sometimes. I don't think I'll be growing tired of you anytime soon. " Silas did like Arthur hanging around. They were friends... Or well, Silas thought they were.

Slowing as they reached his room. He easily pushed open his door. Waltzing in casually and heading towards his closet door. Opening it and bending down to pull a small trunk out. Silas then stood up. Telling Arthur. "You should be able to find something in there. Though they might be a bit big for you. Ronan used t- " Silas trailed off. Shaking his head to rid his mind of the subject. Best not to think about that. He didn't want to think about that. They were just old clothes. Nothing more. So Silas then moved away to search threw his own things. Best to get changed. But... Well, He then paused and glanced back to Arthur. Telling him. "The bathroom is right over there if you'd feel more comfortable changing in there. " Sure, Silas had no shame. But Arthur tended to seem far more shy. Though he might also be used to changing in front of knights. So it might not be a big deal to him. Silas still felt it best to give Arthur the option.

He then settled on his own clothing. Once more showing little shame as he casually stripped down. Tossing his old clothes aside before pulling on his new attire. Which probable looked like a drastic change. Being dressed up all fancy to something far more casual. Hopeful to not draw to much attention. Silas then paused for a moment mid pulling on his shirt. Seeming to be thinking before speaking up. "Hey, When you mentioned, Ya know. Teaching me to fight. Were you serious? " He wasn't sure why that had come to mind. But it was a curious thought. Silas knew the basics of sword play. But that was really it. Though Silas couldn't say he had ever much interest in learning more. But Silas had dealt with plenty of life threatening things the last few months. Perhaps learning some self defense would be useful.

Arthur could guess at least some of the rumours that the servants would spread so yeah maybe not the best idea to leave his clothes here. Silas seemed less worried about such talk but that was hardly surprising, people already seemed to talk plenty about his bedroom partners. And oh, how nice of Silas to insist he wouldn’t get bored of annoying old Arthur, it was actually a little reassuring to hear for Arthur generally enjoyed Silas’ company. Arthur seemed to have guessed right that they were Ronan’s clothes but he didn’t really want to linger on it any more than Silas did, hopefully these clothes didn't make Silas all upset though.

He knelt down to search through the clothes for something suitable before pulling out some items and going to undress. Arthur wouldn’t say he was necessarily shy, just a bit more prudish than Silas but he was used to undressing around plenty of men. It wasn’t the nakedness Arthur had an issue with too much, it was the way Silas was more performative with it than functional, seeing a man undressed was one thing, walking into to see two people going at it was another. Plus, like this morning, Silas was teasing with his actions, as always, he was trying to elicit a response.

Arthur folded his clothes neatly as he removed them and grabbed the trousers, about to start getting redressed when Silas spoke. Arthur turned to Silas in slight surprise as he enquired about the training. Arthur let his eyes flicker over the now visible bruising on Silas before his gaze raised to meet Silas’. Arthur did have a recent injury himself, a new scar on his side from his fight with Loth but nothing as noticeable as Silas. “If you’re interested, then of course” Arthur promised. Silas was teaching him to be freer and more loose, he could teach Silas how to defend himself, win-win. ”maybe you’ll even get some muscle in the end” Arthur murmured. “Although I think you suit looking delicate” he teased slightly with a small grin. Next to Arthur, Silas looked a bit like a China doll but Arthur thought it might really put his mind at ease if Silas could fight a bit better. “I don’t have to teach you how to use a sword better, we can just focus on hand to hand combat or knives” he suggested, after all it wasn’t like Silas usually walked around with a sword. Arthur was more used to fighting with a sword but he was trained in boxing and wrestling and other hand fighting styles, and obviously other weapons, a knight wouldn’t always have their sword. “If you want, I can just teach you self defence rather than anything offensive” Although it might be good for Silas to learn how to fight properly, he could understand if the other prince only wanted to learn how to defend himself. Still, learning attacking moves might help Silas better counter them when defending himself.

Arthur turned back to the clothes, going to pull them on and they were a bit big but not ridiculously so and it probably lended to the look they were going for that Arthur wasn’t wearing perfectly tailored clothing. “What do you think? Inconspicuous?” He asked Silas, turning back to face and oh…would it be painful for him? Although the clothes might be generic enough to not trigger many memories although they were clearly in Silas’ room for a reason so maybe they had plenty of memories attached. “I’m ready for some fun” although he did sound slightly nervous and apprehensive. This was a foreign city though and he was about to be led along to do who knows what by a rather wild prince, he was also excited though, this would take him out of his comfort zone hopefully into something a bit new.

Silas was a bit surprised by how quickly Arthur agreed. Though he was soon squeaking. "Hey! I'm not delicate! I have muscle! " Yeah, No. Silas was a bit scrawny. Especially when someone compared him to Arthur. But Silas had never trained in the same way Arthur did. Shifting uncomfortable. Silas then told Arthur. "I... Would like to be trained in self defense though. " Silas didn't want to hurt anyone. He never had. Still, He should be able to protect himself. Lately that had become more and more obvious. It seemed then that Arthur was finished dressing and Silas turned around. Studying Arthur quietly before grinning. "Better, Though I doubt there is anyway we could really hide you around here. " Arthur simply looked different compared to many of the locals. Paler skin and Lighter hair tended to be more common. Didn't help that Arthur was also rather handsome. But maybe the more average clothing would help a bit.

Silas luckily didn't seem affected by his clothing. Or atleast, If he was he didn't show it. Musing to Arthur. "Honestly, You look better like this. The dressing fancy doesn't suit you. " He told playfully. Or perhaps Silas was just used to Arthur dressing casually. But it seemed the two were soon ready to go and a soft laugh came from Silas at Arthur's comment. Teasing. "Alright, C'mon. Lets go find some trouble to get into. " He then walked towards his door. They hadn't been gone from the party too long. But Silas did spare a moment to peek outside and ensure no guards were searching for them.

Once certain the coast was clear Silas stepped outside. Expecting Arthur to follow as he began leading the way. He was heading towards the same exit the two had used before. Walking threw familiar hallways until they reached the servants entrance. Seemed it was a favorite exit for Silas. Once more a guard stood guarding it. Luckily the same they had encountered once before. Glancing up. The man frowned a bit as Silas approached. "Now, I don't normally ask questions. But aren't you two supposed to be at a party? " He said. Studying the princes. Silas though waved off his concerns. "Indeed, But the party was exceedingly dull so I figured we'd go have some fun. Care to join us? " He said, Though he already knew the answer would be a no. Silas was then pulling out a few coins to pass the guard. But the man hesitated.

Staring at the coins for a moment. He then looked up at Silas and said. "Are you sure? " The king would be furious. The guard knew that. Though that was not unusual. Still, He seemed to want to give Silas one last chance to back out. To go back to the party. But Silas just nodded his hand and the guard sighed. Accepting the coins and making no more attempt to stop the prince. Murmuring. "Be safe you two. " But Silas just grinned. Scoffing. "When have I ever played it safe? " He joked before stepping outside. Nodding for Arthur to follow.
