Hunt or be Hunted (DergTheDragon x Myla)

Hector walks beside Sina out of the small hut, through the tunnel and back to the hideout. He lights a small campfire, as there was just enough wood. "Do you think we have enough ingredients left to make more of that soup? Traveling such a distance on empty stomachs would be very unwise."

Sina follows Hector and look at the stuff they have left nodding, "I think so and I agree so, Imma go ahead and start on it." She takes out some of the plants and starts folding them up.

Hector waits patiently for the food, occasionally looking out the entrance to see where the sun was. When it was ready, he sat down and began to ate. he seemed deep in thought, before suddenly his eyes widened, as he realized something that disturbed him. "Hmmm... that would be quite the problem..." Hector looks up towards sina. "I suppose I should warn you.... I just remembered something that may make our journey rather difficult. There are certain angels called Justicars.... their duty is to hunt down Fallen Angels. Since I abandoned my duties, I am most likely considered one..."

Sina did the same routine as last time with making the food and frowns, "That would be quite the problem..." She has a thinking expression on as she voices out her ideas, "What if you fly with my cloak? I don't think they wer stop you, they would maybe just glance at you but I think that's about it... Although I would need to somehow make my wings white and pass off as an angel, but I don't think that would work well..."

Hector shakes his head. "No, I'm afraid that on top of being risky for you, it wouldn't work... justicars always bring an Oracle along when they're hunting a fallen... Oracles are essentially psychics, they can always tell who you really are behind any disguise... we're just going to have to hope we don't run into them. regardless, we still need to get away from here tonight. Being frequently on the move will make it harder for the justicars as well as the wolves to find us in the long run."

Sina sighs, "Hoping is becoming risky as well. We need to come up with a plan." She finishes the soup letting it float to you and sits on the floor. Sina starts slowly eating her soup as she thinks, What to do.. It would be too risky to just hope we don't run into that and not to mention the wolves would see us the moment we fly into the sky.

hector looks down, frustrated... "I know we need a plan, but... how do we plan against that? If we stay above the clouds it'll keep the wolves from seeing us, but it'd be no different then putting a giant sign over my head saying 'here's the fallen angel you're looking for'... angels stay above the clouds when flying as a general rule most of the time. But we can't stay here either..." Hector sighs heavily. "It really looks like we've been backed into a corner...."

Sina frowns and taps her finger against her chin trying to think, "Is there any tunnels that goes near the mountains or any areas that both angels and wolves tries to stay away from?"

Hector's eyes sudden light up with realization. "Wait a moment... give me the map. I think I remember seeing something on there that might just be something like that... we won't know for certain until we investigate, though."

Sina smiles getting up and hands Hector the map, "Hopefully, there is a tunnel. If there is a tunnel, we need to start walking soon since it will take a while on foot to get to the mountains . Unless we are in luck and the the tunnel is wide enough, then we could fly through the tunnel and get there much quicker."

Hector studies the maps intently, looking closely at one speicific area. 'Yes... I thought this part looks strange. Here's the tunnel that leads to this hideout from the forest... and there's a marking here." He points to what looks like an oval with one end cut off, marked on one of the walls in the tunnel. "The only other place I see this marking is here," Hector said as he pointed to the only other instance of that symbol near the mountains on the other side of the map. "What if those are entrances to something? That just might be the lucky break we need. It's pitch-black in there, which is probably why we missed it." He pulls out his amulet, and says "Lumis" and the gem glows brightly, becoming a makeshift light. "Let's investigate this. I do hope my hunch is right...."

Sina nods, "I hope so. I also home it's not a danger zone. We need to prepared for whatever is in that area because if we run into anymore creatures... That might be a bad thing." She ties her cloak around as neck and puts her hoodie on. "Maybe it's an entrance to another hideout or town. If it is, I hope it is empty of creatures, it would help us somewhat and how long do you think we should stay there?"

Hector nods, looking down in thought at Sina's words. "Yes, I hope so too.. As for how long we should stay, I think it depends on what's down there. As you say, if there are creatures we probably shouldn't stay at all, and try and make it to the other side near the mountains as soon as possible. However, if there are none, or even very few that we can avoid well enough, it wouldn't hurt to rest there a few days... especially if we find a decent place to lie low for a bit. We won't know until we get there, so let's go."

Hector walked with Sina back down the Tunel, leading the way with his source of light, looking at the map periodically until they were around the area that he trange symbol was indicating. "Now, we should look for anything out of the ordinary on this wall..." Hector peered at the cavern wall curiously, until he spotted something odd- a symbol on the wall very close to the one on the map. He reached out to touch it, and the symbol recedeed further into the wall as he applied pressure to it, like a button. for a few seconds nothing seemed to be happening, then all of a sudden part of the wall moved to the side, revealing another tunnel heading downwards. "Yes, this definitely leads somewhere... let's find out exactly where, shall we?" Hector reached out to take Sina's hand, peering into the darkness and holding his light source in front of him.

Sina nods, "When we get there we have to set up a few things such as: Fire, a place to sleep, a place where we could look out without being seen and so forth. Hopefully, some of those things we don't have to set up out selves." She holds holds her breath when Hector presses the button hoping nothing goes wrong and looks at the wall curiously as it slides open. Sina holds onto his hand, "Let's just hope it leads us somewhere safe." She glances at the tunnel and doesn't mind the darkness, in fact she feels a bit more comfortable in it. She shakes her hoodie off her head and does a small smile towards Hector, "Alright, let's go."

Hector smiles back, and starts heading down the tunnel, lightly holding Sina's hand. The tunnel went on like this for a while. For hours there was nothing but blackness in front o them, and the narrow walls surrounding them. The darkness bothered hector slightly, but having Sina by his side made it easier to ignore the fear building inside him. After a while he felt like he needed to be closer to her in order to keep going on. He slowly let go of her hand and reached up and put his arm around her shoulders, and seemed to have newfound courage despite how long the darkness went on. Finally, after hours of walking, the tunnel opened up.... it was another underground city, even larger than the last. It was lit by numerous plants with blue glowing bulbs on them, and lanterns hanging on the doors and in the windows of the buildings. "Wow, would you look at that..." Hector took the place in. "If those burning lanterns are any indication... we may not be alone here...."

Sina stays holding his hand, but becomes a little a surprised when Hector puts his arm around her. She doesn't mind it though, Sina actually welcomes it taking comfort from it. After a few hours of walking, Sina leans against Hector's side being tired. She wasn't sleepy, but Sina was tired from walking for so long. She thinks to herself, This tunnel goes on and on and on.. Never ending. She huffs to herself being anxious to get out the never-ending tunnel, but when she thought it wouldn't end, she sees the tunnel. She smiles looking at the place fascinated, "It's so pretty. I love the plants and the lanterns. And I agree with you, I think people actually live here, but the question is who?" She bites her lip a bit nervous and hopes that these people aren't like the blue creature, "Hopefully, they don't hate demons as well..."

Hector smiles as he looks towards sina's expression of awe at this place." She then brought up a valid point that brought a worried frown to his face. "Yes, hopefully not... even if they do, I will protect you just as vigilantly as I did from the other creature. But we must remain hopeful they they are more accepting, if indeed we come upon other life here." With that, Hector begins walking farther into the city, looking all around. It didn't seem like there were other sentient beings around just yet. A few of the buildings were open and seemed similarly built to the hut they staying in the night before. "Let's investigate these unlocked buildings... be wary and tread carefully." With that, Hector proceeds towards one of the unlocked doors to open it.

Sina nods looking at Hector being a bit anxious again thinking about if these beings would accept her, "Alright, I hope so." Sina follows close behind him and looking around, "I don't know if it's a great idea to go into them, but I'll be careful." She follows him quietly making sure he doesn't make a sound. She hates going into buildings with there might be unknown people in it. In a way, she feels like she trespassing into someone's home, but in another way she feels like that it's pretty risky.

Hector slowly opens the door, stepping inside. There was a figure sitting facing the fireplace, thier back to the door, shadow dancing with the light of the flames. On closer inspection, it was a white-winged woman with long blonde hair- an Angel. She was holding a staff in one hand, the end of it firmly planted on the ground. Without even moving, her back still towards Hector and Sina, she spoke, her voice soft, precise, and calm, almost void of emotion. "Ah, Hector. I knew you would come here, at this second, in this hour, on this day. And you as well, Sina. Indeed, I know your name as well, noble demon. I have been watching as both of you traveled here.... very touching, the bond you've begun to share." Hector froze, and whispered towards Sina. "She's an Oracle, Sina... I think we've stumbled-" "into a trap? No, quite the opposite. I have come here to free you both of the justicars' pursuit," the woman interrupted. "That is, if you will hear me out." The woman slowly stood and turned. Hector's eyes widened as he saw her face, bright blue eyes and a kind smile adorning it. "M-mother?!" The woman simply nods.

Sina tenses automatically and pales the moment she says that she knew their name and where they been all this time. She thinks to herself, Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap! This is not good. Sing clutches onto the back of Hector's shirt and frowns when the lady says that she's there to free them. "That's not posibbl-- Wait, did you just say mother?" She looks at Hector and his mom a bit wide eyed.

Hector noded towards sina, remaining in stunned silence, with a bit of fear and trepidation but also some hope. His mother was always kind and understanding towards him, and he had a feeling that if an oracle found him, it'd be her. But why is she here? She'd never lie as far as hector knew, but should he really believe she wasn't here to turn him in to the Justicars? As if hearing is thoughts, because that's exactly what she did, she smiled and shook her head.

"I know you've many questions hector, but answer this one yourself before I explain. What is the other duty of we justicars, that outweighs bringing fallen angels to justice in my eyes?" Hector had been told this by his mother many times, so his answer was near-automatic. "To give soul mates a chance to- wait..." Hector found himself looking towards Suina wide-eyed, then equally so back towards his mother. Her smile widened. "Indeed... I have seen into both of your hearts, and they ring true. You both are meant to be... I have known this since I did your future-reading before you became a full-fledged angel...I knew your soulmate was not one of our kind, and I worried for you..." Her smiled faded for just a split-second, before returning. "But if seems I've no need to worry... on top of meeting her away from the persecution you would have faced from our kind, you kept your integrity even before then. You made the right choice even though most angels, even your father would scorn you for it, on that day..." Hector's mind was suddenly flooded with images of seeing a demon being put down, not resisting, insisting his intentions were pure... and then whisking his would-be wife to safety. Hector nodded in understanding. "So... mother... why are you here?" "I have come to free you, as I said. I wish the best for you, even though it means I may never see you again..." The woman looked down in sadness for a second, before looking back up. "I have told the justicars you are somewhere else entirely... at the other end of this city is an exit out into the mountains. If you go there, and fly through the mountain range to the other side, the justicars will not find you. That is, you trust in me, and leave now."

Hector nodded, but with a look of confusion and doubt on his face. His mother spoke up again. "You know the significance of what i've reveal to you about you and Sina... you do trust that I want the best for my son, and the woman he is meant to be with,do you not?" Hector nodded again, but frowning now, as he realized something. "But, mother... if they find out you lied to them-" "I know full well the consequences, but I am willing to give my life that my son, the purest, most honest of our kind that is meant to be nothing but, survives. you cannot dissuade me, and i am prepared for this." Tears began to stream down hector's face. 'Go, Hector... please.. it is my last request... they will find you soon.' Hector looked back to Sina. "Sina... I know you have no reason to trust her, but... do you trust me? I know she would never lie... she is giving us this chance, not leading us into a trap, I know it... will you follow me, whatever I decide?" Hector looked towards sina, eyes tearing up, a hopeful gaze in them.

The moment Hector's mother said they were soulmate, she sucked in a breath in shock and thinks to herself, It isn't possible.. It's too rare to meet your soulmate, let alone an angel and a demon to be paired up. Especially, in a world so dark that differences just tear it apart. But... could it be true? Could it be that we are indeed that one rare pair that's of a small group of soulmate who are opposites?

One glance at Sina and anyone could catch the small of hope growing inside her, All I ever wanted was a family, but having a soulmate is just as great and maybe even better. She looks Hector and his mom, If we are mates, is she leading us to our death? Into a trap? I just got Hector, I don't want him taken from me anytime soon. I don't trust her.. But I do trust Hector. Sina looks at Hector again with trusting eyes filled with hope and nods biting her lip as she wipes his tears, "I may not trust her-- No offense-- but I definitely trust you and would follow you whereever we nwe'd to go."

Hector's eyes fill with gratitude and adoration as Sina expresses her heartfelt trust in him. "Then it's decided..." He looks back towards his mother, who smiles reassuringly towards him, a single tear running down her cheek. "Go, my child... I see great things in your future. The bond you and Sina share will serve a wonderful purpose... but only if you escape in time." She turns away, obviously very pained by having to say goodbye.

Without a word, hector gently takes sina's hand and steps out of the building, spreading his angelic wings. he looked up towards the other side of the massive cavern city, and there was a path that zigzagged up towards a faint source of sunlight, the exit to the mountains. Being speechless right now, he simply motioned to his wings and began to glide towards the exit, looking back and hoping for Sina to follow.

Sina gives his mother a comforting smile and says before leaving, "Everything will okay. Afterall, we all need some good to balance out the bad in our lives." On that notes she holds onto Hector's hand following him being filled with a newfound hope for the future.

Sina sees the faint sunlight and thinks to herself, Well here goes nothing. Sina spreads her wings. They were a dark grayish- black. They actually look like normal wings instead of the sterotype many seem to have in their minds. They were smal compared to hectors, but they were the perfect size for her body. Sina sees him gesture for her to follow and she began moving her wing gliding behind Hector following him.

Hector pushes of the ground and begins gliding towards the exit. As they came closer to it, hector felt a wrenching feel in his gut, an immense guilt that without hesitation, he was allowing his mother to die. Sadness also filled him, and he began to cry silent tear as he neared the exit. But then, all of a sudden, these thoughts stopped. An image of Hector's mother appeared in his mind, another ability of Oracles, and she spoke to him through this image. "Hector, do not falter, as much as this pains you... do this for Sina's sake, and constantly remind yourself that you are doing this to keep her safe, and that this is my wish, whether it be yours or not." Hector tried to block the image out of his mind, but as expected he was not able to until he grudgingly thought Yes, mother... I will do as you say. With one last, tearful smile she disappeared from hector's mind just as he and Sina reched the entrance. he landed and caught his breath, looking through the entrance to reveal a snowy landscape or rolling hills. The exit led out into the wilderness, and was well hidden. He looked back to Sina, making sure she was alright. "Where do you think we should go from here?" He asked, trying to keep his tone even although it was still choked by guilt, and slight fear that they may not get away in time, or be spotted.
