Fandom Httyd: Life after Berk

Ragnar continued in his morning stretch for a few moments before he heard Rose respond to him. "Well that sounds like a good use of time, and yes I had Nibbler keep the fire lit last night" Ragnar told her. He gave a chuckle when she mentioned how tired he looked. "I stayed up last night to keep watch, don't want any dragons sneaking in while we're asleep. I did get a bit of sleep by trading off watches with Nibbler. I'm fine, never felt more energized" Ragnar said before taking a seat on a dusty chair. After more people began to awaken Serenity joined them near the cauldron, Rose asked her sister for a bit of help with the stew as Serenity began to speak about getting two of them ready to head out. "Sounds fine to me" he said with a nod. Ragnar was still itching to get going outside and explore. Maybe they'd even run into dragons they could befriend, that was unlikely but still, it'd be neat. When Yuki came in and said something about seeing dragons Nibbler raised her head and barked in their direction. She scurried over to the cauldron and sat back as if trying to be polite. The Terror sniffed the cauldron before turning around and scurrying into the shadowy parts of the building. Probably going to chase rats again.

Rose sighs "Hey Yuki, we're going in groups of two Ragnar and I go first and after that two others will go" she says "And we nearly got roasted right after we arrived, so we saw a dragon, plus, there's Nibbler" she adds, how had he not seen the Terror at all? "And you didn't give Gabriella and Victoria trouble yesterday after we left to make an alarm system right?" she asks "We're vikings, vikings are capable of protecting themselves, knowing you, you would've want to take charge and protect them" she says ruffling his hair, yet he didn't get the point of this trip at all. "You know, if you wanted to see dragons you could've stayed home" she teases him "Because most dragons we'll meet here are probably going to try to kill us, you knew that when you came on the ship right?", she didn't get to tease Yuki too often, so when she could, she most likely did "Or were you so focused on the seeing wild dragons part you completely ignored dad all three times he gave us the warnings? That does sound like you, getting in situations without fully knowing why".

Victoria chuckles and she walks to the door "Hey guys... remember the ship they left with medical supplies and extra food?" she asks "I think the dragons burned it down" she says, of course, the flames could mean many things, but considering the ship was gone too she doubted that, yesterday she could still see the mast. They were stuck there, which is great, stuck on an island with dragons out to kill them "Guess those who don't find a dragon have to rely on others to get home" she says, she wasn't confident she would find one, but she could always try.

Gabriella looked up at Victoria with a look of confusion that morphed into something that looked like scared excitement before she went to reading what was in her notebook to read what she had already seen and discovered about the place they were staying in for the too long duration of their stay on Old Berk. She was so observed in what she was reading that she had missed most of what was going on around her...until the mention of needing to find a dragon to leave. That didn't sound good, but it wasn't for the loss of extra food or medical supplies: it was how she was supposed to get back. If she didn't find a dragon, she would have to go back riding with someone else, and that was not an option she wanted. Going with anyone would cause awkwardness and she wouldn't be able to handle that. Her hands gripped the notebook just hard enough to turn her knuckles white without harming the notebook itself. That meant she would have to go outside eventually despite what she had planned on doing originally, just saying she couldn't bond with one, but she wasn't close enough with anyone to ask if they wanted to go with her once it was her turn. But she knew there were a few people she didn't want to go with because she knew their personalities were what she was weak against most. She hated things that didn't have obvious solutions. What was she gonna do?

After receiving a bowl of the delicious stew he started eating quite daintily and savoring each bite. He appreciated the taste and the energizing effects of the special herbs. "It really is very good, Rose. Thank you for cooking this morning. I can cook next time if that's alright? I want to be of SOME use on this trip." he said with a smile. There wasn't much he could add to the conversation nor the situation. He didn't really even want to be on this trip but both of his parents and even Gothy told him to go and find his companion. Though, Gothy gave him some advice that he would do his very best to heed and realize on this trip. He hoped that he would not become the true family embarrassment as he had always been told he was.

He watched the three Haddock children interact like true siblings. He honestly wished he could be like that with his own siblings. He was quite envious of everyone here. They all actually wanted to be here while he didn't. He would much rather be out on the cliffside of New Berk with his sketchbook and charcoal. He wasn't a warrior or dragon rider. He was an artist and a gentile person. He didn't like all this adventure but here he was, completely out of his element and relying on everyone here just to get back home safely.

Hearing that the ship with the supplies was toast was quite a blow and made him sigh and groan. Of course, their luck would turn out this way. He swore if his luck wasn't bad he wouldn't have any luck at all.

With a nod of her head she took a sip of the stew before smiling and giving a brighter smile, "It's perfect, Rose. It's delicious." she replied before scooping the stew up and pouring some int the bowls. Now that everyone was awake and the food cooked properly, Serenity volunteered to serve it for them. To Yuki's question, she smiled a little and gave a soft giggle before replying, "You fell asleep quite quickly after eating, Yuki." she said while giving him a bowl of the stew after it was finished. "Rose and Ragnar are going to explore first. After they come back another pair will go explore and things will go on like that until the sip comes. By chance, hopefully, some, if not all of us will have a dragon by that time." she explained calmly and then she looked to Rose to almost seeking approval. After a moment she noticed that Nibbler was by the cauldron and she could not help but smile a bit more. She poured a small bit into a small bowl and set it down for the little dragon. "It's hot, so be careful," she said before watching her scurry off to chase and eat mice and rats. "At least we won't have to worry about rats stealing some of our rations." she almost laughed.

After everyone had their bowls, Serenity grabbed herself a small bowl and ate what was left for her. She didn't mind having less than the others as she could find other ways of getting food later if she needed to. "How long do you two want to stay out before coming back and switching out with the next pair? We have to give everyone a chance to find their dragons," she asked the two so that they could have a decent response time if they got lost or were in trouble too far from the call.

The news about the ship being damaged to the point they couldn't use it was a bit distressing but it wasn't like he hadn't she hadn't thought that was a possibility. If nothing else, those that could craft and build would be able to make at least a small shit for them to get back to at least an island that wasn't crawling with dragons so they could make a better ship in relative safety later. "Well, if some or none of us get dragons, we only have to wait for someone to come back when our time here is up. They wouldn't leave us here without some kind of back up plan. We just have to do our best until that time. Right?"

Rose looks at Serenity "But it will take days before they get a new ship here" she says, that is assuming they were going to come with a new ship and not their dragons "Not too long for sure, dad said he'd be back in two days to see who wants to return home, I don't think it's a matter of staying until time is up, without the ship they can't tell who wants to leave and they have no idea where we are" she says, usually she was all for adventure, but all the medical supplies were lost and it would only be a matter of time before the dragons broke down the door, so right now she's worried about everyone's safety instead of exciting, she wasn't worried perse about herself, she had been in plenty of sticky situations, it was the others she's worried about, three of them aren't looking battle ready, Yuki was overexcited and Ragnar was itching to explore, like herself, Serenity's the only one with most common sense in their group.

Victoria sighs and she sits next to Alva "Sorry about last night" she says "I hadn't meant it as an insult, but there's nothing wrong with being who you are" she says eating her stew "And you are like your mother, lean and tall, that your father doesn't want to act like a real father is his problem, we all have our good strengths and bad ones" she explains. She tries to think of an example that would somehow fit his situation "I mean, I'm absolutely no good in a battle, it's not for me and I only have a hatchet with me, now give me something to build however that's a different story, I'll be done in record time" she says "You're an artist and just between you and me, your father tried making statues and selling them, heard they were quite good although no one bought one, he even wrote a book during one of his missions. You'll find something that makes everyone proud of you and if they still don't see it, that's their loss, not yours, remember that. Maybe you could paint the chief's portrait with Rose, they do need one, especially once we bring the old ones back".

Yuki looked at the people talking with a confused look, "ya I just wanna find a dragon" he says in a childish voice, "also do you think any swords survived this long, or maybe some other weapon, I really want a sword" he then looks over at Ragnar while sipping his stew, and then looks back at his sisters, "hmm I wonder what mom and dad are doing right now" he thinks "eh i'm here there there, so no worries" he says to himself.

A smile that hid his hurt covered his gentile face, "It's alright, I'm used to it, so don't worry about it." he replied and almost chuckled sorrowfully to the mention of his parents and their similarities to him almost made him laugh. "He's not the only one that thinks I don't fit with the family. I may somewhat resemble my mother barely but even she says I don't fit with them. I should have turned out more like my younger siblings but I turned out like this and disappointed both sides of my family. It's nothing new. Thanks for saying so though." he still wasn't quite immune to such jokes or taunts but he often put on a mask and tried to brush them off like everyone else. He did his best to just play it off like he was fine as he always was.

He had overheard Rose's worries about their supplies but he agreed with Serenity. The island has plenty of natural resources that they could use and he worked under Gothy so he could very well be the one to find and use medicinal plants and such. He turned his attention back to Victoria and chuckled again, "Sure, I'll be the one he asks to paint the portrait. I should be so lucky. My sketches and paintings aren't up to the par they need to be."
1587279879427.png
"Days or even months, we'll be alright. We're all here together and we are smart enough to survive and stubborn enough, no matter what or however long. Besides, you really think this island is bountiful. Remember that father and mother and all of our ancestors were born and raised here. They started here centuries ago and had even less than we do. Are you going to tell me we can't do better than them?" she grinned and touched the younger girl's shoulder. "Don't worry so much, Rose. We'll all look out for each other and get home safely and make our people proud. Okay?" she was doing her best to be encouraging and comforting so to give back the other girl's confidence and will to explore again. "While you and Ragnar are exploring, I'm going to have to ask you to be on the lookout for a few things that we might need to gather later, okay? Just make some notes about where you go and some pants you recognize. You don't have to be too observant or even really pay much attention but just some things that stick out and things you might be able to spot right off. Understand? I'm going to tell Ragnar the same thing since you two might get split up at some point. Also, if you DO get separated and you can't find one another quickly enough, come right back here where it's safe and regroup that way, okay? And Yuki, I don't think there are any usable swords left. We checked the forge last night but, on your shift, if you want to can go look for them, just be careful, yeah?"

So no ship anymore, Ragnar supposed that made little difference. He spent most of his time back at home exploring wild areas so he knew he could go out hunting if they were ever in need of food. He nodded along to conversation as he ate a bowl of the soup. It was pretty good, Rose must've been taught well. He tried to keep half an eye on Nibbler, just so he could make sure she didn't slip outside. He wasn't quite certain whether or not he was going to bring the Terrible Terror with him when he went out exploring with Rose. If they were to run into any other dragons while they were out she'd probably sour the mood or distract Ragnar if it came to a fight he'd be distracted by making sure Nibbler didn't kill herself by trying to help. "I think we'll get along just fine without the ship, it complicates things but so does an island full of dragons and we're dealing with that regardless. "I'm ready to head out whenever you are" Ragnar said, nodding to Rose before he took a seat not too far away where he took out a stone and sharpened his axe. A bit of plan making might be in order before they headed out but Ragnar personally disliked talking about things for too long when the could be out doing them.

Gabriella looked at everyone with surprise. They were all super calm about this, which she guessed made sense she guessed. They were all superior Vikings, unlike her. She had a soft smile as she looked down, thinking how amazing everyone else was. She just couldn't be like that. So, she went back to looking through Victoria's notebook and making mental notes about what each individual detail meant and where it was indicated. She would look at those areas closer to see if she could find anything the other girl missed, though she highly doubted it since Victoria was a lot better at looking at things with a precise eye than Gabriella was. She was just good at reading and remembering things. But that didn't mean she didn't want that to stop her from learning everything about something new, so she was gonna try as long as she was here; whether she liked it or not. She would just wait until Rosemarie and Ragnar left so there would be less people to distract her by causing her to look everywhere else than where she was actually wanting to look. It would be awful to be snuck up on, after all.

"ya i'll be careful" Yuki said in a childish voice, course that's the way he was he was always acting like a child until things get serious, he started to look through Serenity's bag and found blue prints to a suit that looked like their fathers, he then took a sketch book out of his bag and compared the two he then jotted down some notes and a sketch with his photographic memory, "hey sis" he says while looking at the blue prints and the paper that had everything that was on the blueprints, "is this a good copy, of all that, I just drew it encase it fell apart" he said in a childish tone.

"Well I did find something in the forge last night, remember how I saw Gronckle Iron? The blade is broken but I can fix it if I can get the forge going again, it's around the same as what Gobber has at home, so it shouldn't be a problem to get a fire going" Rose says "And if I can't I'll make it a knife, simple as that. It's true this was their home for seven generations, but back then they had dragon raids, not a full blown pack of wild angry, aggressive dragons", not to mention that they couldn't stay in the great hall forever, how safe it may seem at the moment and even if it stayed safe, you could only stay stuck with each other for so long before someone starts going crazy. She nods at Ragnar, checking her pouch for everything she needs "Ready to leave, so do we head straight to the forest or explore the town first?" she asks throwing her knife at a table out of everyone's way, going to retrieve is afterwards, at least that was sharp enough to at least protect her a little bit. She narrows her eyes seeing Yuki go through Sefenity's bag and she gets even more annoyed seeing him take something from it, so she walks over and snatches the drawing and blueprint away from him "It doesn't matter where we are Yuki, you do not go through someone else's bag, that's not polite and an invasion of privacy, do it to the wrong person and you will get hurt" she says "If I manage to find a dragon today I will start of dad's old home and you are not welcome until you learn to behave" she says putting her brother's sketchbook in her pouch and handing the blueprints back to Serenity "We're vikings, not barbarians" she says grabbing her bag from Stoick's old chair before she walks off to the door "And she would've shown us if she was ready to, let's go Ragnar, the less time I spend with Yuki the better, he thinks he's allowed to do anything, you guys don't hesitate to put him in his place, his childishness will get someone killed here", and with that she slips through the door, her good mood gone and she doesn't wait for Ragnar as she heads to the forge, she needed to be alone right now even though it was against what they discussed.

Victoria sighs "As I said you will make them proud one day, maybe not with brawn, but with other skills and my father always has a spare room if you have to get away from it all, he probably wouldn't even mind it if you moved in permanently" she says with a smile "And hey, we're not around our parents, you can be who you want to be" she says putting a hand on his shoulder. There were plenty of people who could be themselves, Rose wouldn't have to worry about the unavoidable conversation, Gabriella wouldn't have to worry about people bullying her, Alva could be his artistic self without being judged by his family, she guess not much would change for her, Serenity and Yuki though "Well since we're stuck here we might need to repair some houses after all, how about we work together on that?". She frowns in disappointment at Yuki's action so she hugs her bag close "And I would prefer we start now, maybe Gabriella wants to help, hey Gabriella, wanna help Alva and I work on some house designs, we could move some tables to make different corners in the hall.

Thanks, Victoria. I really do appreciate it. I may take you up on the offer when we get home if things get too bad." he still had that apologetic smile on his face as if to say that he was sorry for causing her to worry or concern herself with him. It was nice though, having someone stand on his side for once. Having someone not think that he came from the wrong family. Maybe the Ingerman family was more like the family he should have been into. Was that why his parents were so hard on him and doting on his siblings instead? Possibly, but still, Victoria was the first one to truly reach out to him and he would not turn that hand away.

When she suggested they work on their own blueprints for building houses, he smiled. That was something he could do and would gladly do. "Sure. That sounds like a great idea."

Things were just starting to set off as she watched her little sister head out the door with confidence. Of course, that single moment of pride in her little sister was taken away by her little brother's question and what he showed her. "YUKI?!?" She almost shouted and went over to him and gently knocked him on the head with her fist to discipline him. "I was saving those! I wanted to show you, Rose, father, and mother together." she then grabbed him by his neck and started to give him a noogie, messing his white hair further in the process, "Who gave you permission to go through my bag? Huh? You little snoop." she then laughed as she hassled him playfully before letting him go and taking a look at his renditions. "They're pretty good. You've missed some minor things but made up for it with the notes. Good job. Next time, ask before you go sniffing through my bag, huh? What if I found a surprise for you and was saving it for Snoggletog? Hmm? Then you'd get nothing." she carefully folded up the blueprints and put them back in her bag carefully. "Now, can you promise me not to do that again? If you do, I'll see if I can find you a sword on my trip out. Deal?"

She saw Rose get worked up over Yuki going through her bag and finding the gift she was planning to give but Serenity just shook her head with a sorry smile, "It's alright Rose. We both know he didn't mean any harm by it. He was just curious and he wanted to make sure if the originals were somehow destroyed, that we had a backup. So, it may have been untimely, but it's beneficial. Be safe out there, Rose." she pats her little sister's head softly and encouragingly with a warm smile before letting the younger girl go and head off.

Turning to Victoria's idea she nodded her head a bit, "It could be beneficial, but we don't want to get too comfortable here. We're, hopefully, not going to be here too long, but individual areas do sound quite useful. Okay, I guess Yuki and I will take stock of what we have in the way of food and ingredients so we don't go hungry these days to come."

What was with these people? Gabriella couldn’t make heads or tails of what was going through their heads. Everyone else on the island either made fun of her or ignored her because that was easier than being nice. But the people she came with? Nope! Just be all smiles and sunshine to the girl who didn’t deserve it. Victoria was nice and all, but she didn’t want to impose on what they would be doing. She isn’t an artist nor was she could at designing things....unless they wanted input? But that didn’t make any sense either seeing as Gabriella was the last person they should be asking. But....since she didn’t know how long they would be stuck here, then it would be an even bigger inconvenience to be around a mopey shy girl day in and day out, and she didn’t want to make anyone’s lives harder than they had to be. If they all got their own living areas for the remainder of this trip, she wouldn’t have to worry about bothering anybody!
That realization got the teen to her feet, clutching the notebook the other girl had leant her to look through. She had already memorized the contents, so she should probably give it back before she ended up ruining it, as she tends to do. “I-I-If you don’t....mi-mind that...someone like me...is get-getting in your....way, then su-sure.” She stammered our, her voice still quiet and barely audible. She didn’t have to worry about her bag getting raided like the other girl seemed to fear either, since it never left her side. There had been too many pranks ending in the demise of her stuff, so she had learned to keep it close at hand....unless someone wanted it, then she gave it. “A-also, here.” She held the notebook out towards the other girl once she was closer. “Th-thanks for letting...me look through it....sorry if I....got it di-dirty.” She added, her shoulders hunched and her gaze directed at the ground.

Ragnar stood by sharpening his axe as the Haddock siblings had a bit of conflict, Ragnar had never had siblings but he imagined fights were common. He noticed that Rose took off and asked him to follow. Ragnar shrugged and got to his feet. Nibbler scurried over but Ragnar stuck a hand up. "No Nibbler, I want you to stay here" Ragnar told the little Terror. "You could get hurt", or make it impossible to befriend any dragons we run into, Ragnar didn't add the last part but it was equally if not more important then the first one. Nibbler chittered disappointedly, her little foot stomped and she looked up at him like she was about to throw a tantrum. "No, I can't watch you and for other dragons at once. Serenity, please make sure she doesn't follow me" Ragnar asked the oldest Haddock. She seemed to be the most dependable person here, Ragnar pointed at the little Terror who opened her mouth and sang out a coughy melody as Ragnar slipped out of the hall. Ragnar, now outside noticed Rose speeding over to the Forge. Ragnar sighed, he wanted nothing more then to drift around and explore alone but it'd been established this island was way too dangerous to do that. "Hey! Wait" Ragnar called over as he sprinted after her. He stopped once he caught up. "I don't think going on your own is a good idea." Ragnar told her looking around to make sure they weren't being stalked.

Victoria smiles at Gabriella as she takes the book "It's fine, it's an old notebook, so a little dirt doesn't matter, besides, if that was an issue I wouldn't have giving it to you to read" she says putting it in her bag "And we should make some areas, two for sleeping, one for guys and one for the girls, although Rose will likely sleep in the chair again, than we can have the middle area for cooking and eating" she says already thinking of how they can divide the space "One corner for food and other supplies" she says "We should keep the food away from the door since that'll make the chances a dragon will barge in a lot smaller" she says and she thinks for a while "Unless of course there are people with objections to that, we also need some place to change clothes, but than again, who got much spare clothes in their bags? We'd also need to wash our clothes, because as Rose said, we're vikings, not barbarians".

Mending clothes wouldn't be an issue, she knew how to fix them, she even knew how to make then if they really have to "What do you guys think Dragon's Edge is like?" she asks standing up move some tables.

Rose enters the forge carefully and tosses her bag on a hook, she was not leaving that building for a while, it seemed dragon free anyway, the keyword being seemed, they hadn't checked the back room yet "True, hey Ragnar, do you think I overreacted?" she asks taking the about to break Gronckle iron sword before walking to the back room at a slow pace "Besides, I need a better weapon than my knife, so I'll join you in the forest later" she says, without Nibbler they couldn't check the room without enntering "And we don't have to tell the others we didn't stay within earshot of our horns, which would really only draw the wild dragons towards us. It's just... I need to be alone for a while if you don't mind", the room is dark, but when some light shines in she freezes "Ragnar, why would dragons be napping here?" she asks quietly, she could make out several dragons and they were all thankfully asleep, so much for making herself a new weapon, guess they'd go to the forest after all, oddly enough though shd only saw nocturnal dragons "Let's go before they wake up, we can always split up in the forest", but there wasn't a dragon near the forge last night, she takes some leather from her bag and wraps it around the sword, putting said object in her bag to take with her, sure it was sticking out a little, but she's not leaving it behind again, although right now she's glad she did leave it last night, with Yuki wanting to find a weapon and a dragon, even though he doesn't take anything seriously, he should've stayed home, there were tame and mildly aggressive dragons there, they were more afraid of humans anyway.

As she leaves the forge she feels eyes on her, so she stops walking as she turns around "Odd" she mumbles, there was something, but they couldn't see it, she knows it's a dragon, so why isn't it attacking them like the previous one they met did? Maybe it was waiting for them to split up?

Things seemed to be going pretty smooth right now. Everyone started working together and getting along. No judgment and no prejudice and no one really fighting one another or comparing one to another. This was just so strange but it felt..... comfortable. He could breathe here easily, even with the threat of being attacked and killed by dragons. This place was almost paradise, compared to home. He almost didn't want to go back.

Serenity watched Yuki climb up and fall asleep quite quickly. She giggled a little and watched over him while he slept. When he woke up he seemed disoriented and she laughed a bit seeing him get a bit stuck. "You've only been asleep for half an hour. Don't worry, just jump down. I'll catch you." she called to him and held out her arms for him as she had always done. Whenever her siblings needed her she was always there to catch them. Back them up. Gabriella listened to Victoria's ideas and wondered why she hadn't been more in charge when they first got here. Though, that's what she thought for the rest of them too, seeing as they could all be very capable leaders. She continued to watch her in awe before snapping out of it to follow her lead to move tables wherever Victoria had wanted them to go. Gabriella didn't have a problem with it, after all. She made sure she was okay with anything so she stood out less and wasn't as picked on as a result. She then figured that they were being nice because they have to be. And then, once they were on Dragon's Edge, she'd go back to being the village target for their stress relief. But she wouldn't say that, since it would only cause them trouble if they knew she knew what they were thinking, so she only said "Scary."

As Ragnar caught up to Rose he cocked his head curiously at the girl. She asked if she'd overreacted, he assumed that she was refferring to how she'd yelled at her brother for that piece of paper. Personally Ragnar didn't understand why she'd done that but he shrugged. "To me that was just a piece of paper, I assume it had some kind of meaning to you so... I don't know" Ragnar said with a shrug. He raised his eyebrow when she said they should split up and lie to the others about. "I understand you need some time alone and I respect that, but this isn't Berk. Predators normally wait for a group to split up before they attack, it'd be unwise for us to split up and give them what they want. We don't have to talk if you do not want but we should stay within earshot of each other at least" Ragnar said trying to make a compromise.

Ragnar was then aware of the dragons inside the forge. "I imagine it's a warm place, it's also got stocks of iron. Don't some Boulder Class dragons eat minerals, I imagine that would be the main reason" Ragnar whispered before taking a few silent steps backwards. Ragnar felt a pair of eyes watching the two of them. "I believe we're being stalked" Ragnar whispered taking his axe off of his back and taking a look all around them.

Rose narrows her eyes "It does hold meaning to me, that was one of dad his old blueprints, Gobber never made them" she says scanning the area, which area was dark enough to hide a dragon "I don't think it's any dragon that's stalking us, there's only one stealthy enough to hide during the day that I know, as long as it has places that are dark enough", she has seen Toothless hide in plain daylight, except this wasn't Toothless "We should go", she starts walking to the forest, not taking her eyes off the forge, too bad she couldn't spot it with the entire forge dark, moving the worn down curtain had given them enough light to navigate, so she tears it off, but she still doesn't see it "Dramillions can camouflage, but they wouldn't wait for us to split up" she says so she goes back to walking to the forest, too bad she couldn't fix the sword, at least than she'd have a weapon that might help her out.

Victoria looks at Gabriella "Hey Gabriella, you realize only those with a dragon get to go right?" she asks "So if we're lucky it'll be just us" she adds "Oh maybe the chief will show us where it is, they're the one who found it after all", she wasn't well equipped for battle, but her hatched was sharp enough "No one ever made it to Dragon's Edge before, we'd be the first after Hiccup and the gang, imagine all the dragon's we'll find". She understood why Gabriella was worried, but those jerks would never be allowed on the Edge "Wanna know a secret?" she asks looking at the girl "Threaten to burn them alive next time" she whispers "They're terrified of dragons". She thinks for a while and smiles "Or you could spend time with me, there are plenty of notebooks you can read, most are about different types of dragon, others are of the adventures my father and his friends had, you'll like it".

Gabriella let out a dark chuckle, though it was quiet. Victoria thought that she was afraid of those who she hung around with coming to the Edge? Either she was good at acting, or she actually hadn't meant any harm by it. And Gabriella didn't see that intention in people, so she just went with good acting. But the teen didn't let her doubt show, since it would only cause problems with the remainder of their little makeshift team, and they couldn't have that since they weren't sure how long they would be here. And there was the fact that she seemed certain that Gabriella would tame a dragon, but the timid girl knew better. No dragon would willingly bond with someone who was an obvious target, so that was out. But again, Victoria didn't show any signs of lying, so Gabriella was inwardly impressed by her acting. It's the best show she has seen so far! But, since she knew the falsely kind girl expected a response, she played along with the notebook part, since that did excite her too a certain extent. "Wow, really?" She asked, her voice slightly higher in volume due to her unconcealable excitement. Even if it was an act, her family was known for being the collectors of knowledge on the island, so being allowed to read those writings? It was a treasure cove of knowledge that Gabriella had found a small hope to discover and store in her never forgetting memory. "That would be...fantastic. Thank you!"

"You know... I'm not stupid and a terrible actress" Victoria comments dryly "You're not your typical viking, neither are Alva and I, so I learned not to hang around those who don't like the fact I'm different, maybe you should do the same", she didn't even understand why Gabriella was hanging around them in the first place, it was also a wonder th group now on Berk had only seen each other, but not spoken, sure her father often discussed inventions with Hiccup, but Rose was often too busy making her own, or hiding somewhere, Serenity usually worked in the forge and Yuki was well... Yuki. "Hey Gabriella" she says turning to the girl "Considering we're both kinda friendless, do you want to be my friend, most don't even look passed the fact I'm a bookworm", her offer is genuine, but with how Gabriella's so called friends treat her she wouldn't be surprised if she failed to see that "I know, I found a beautiful area back home, do you want to see it when we get back? It's quite a climb though" she says "We can geek out over things others find boring and maybe build a tree house", she's really happy that she found someone as interested in books and history as she is "I can teach you how to make a basic hut if you want to".

Outside the wind starts picking up and it makes Victoria realize something "Uh guys, it's devistating winter, as my dad called it, storms come and go in this weather, shouldn't we call the other two back before it gets worse?", she had heard from different people that devistating winter was way worse than normal winter, but since they only had winter on New Berk they never knew the difference.

"Around the village with all the buildings and rubble I imagine just about any dragon could hide itself if it had the mind to" Ragnar said looking behind them as they moved into the forest. Ragnar was no expert on Dramillions either, in all honesty he couldn't even muster an image of what that specific dragon looked like. He should've spent more time reading the book of dragons back on new berk but it was too late now. Even though he wasn't an expert he still doubted that any dragon wouldn't have the intelligence and foreplanning to wait for its prey to split up before attacking, if lesser animals such as wolves could do it he didn't imagine any dragon wouldn't have the brainpower to do the same thing, but he didn't say anything about that. As they entered the forest he kept his eyes peeled for any sort of dragon that may be following them or perhaps one that looked docile enough to approach. Suddenly Ragnar felt a chill, "did you just feel it getting colder as well"? Ragnar asked Rose. Wait, Ragnar suddenly remembered something about old berk. He'd done a bit of research about the non-dragon parts of the island before he'd left. If he remembered right winters were worse on old berk then they were on the new one. He shook his head, that didn't seem right. Why would the chief send them to old berk during a bad winter? Surely he would know about this. Whether or not that was the case it was definitely getting windy.

Rose pulls her cloak better around herself as she rubs her arms "Devastating winter, the storms are unpredictable" she mumbles and she feels another chill, not from the icy wind this time and she taps Ragnar on his shoulder before looking up and pointing up at the trees "I found whatever's stalking us" she says quietly, two sapphire blue eyes are staring down at them from the trees, two familiar sapphire blue eyes and when Rose stares at them long enough she remembers where she had seen them before "No way" she mumbles, but she takes a few steps back anyway, it didn't look like a happy dragon "Remember how I said I was looking for a dragon I met before?" she asks. Sure the Night Fury seemed harmless as it was now, observing the two quietly, but if this one was anything like Toothless that could change in a split second, why was that dragon even there? It didn't make sense since Toothless was really protective of his youngs, her included most of the time "H-hey girl remember me? The kid you used to play with?" she asks when the dragon jumps down and landing in front of them. She faintly remembers her mother laughing that she named a dragon she would never see afterwards, but can't remember the name "Ragnar here won't attack until you give him a reason to", wild Night Fury, a wild unhappy Night Fury, of all the things they could run into, granted it could be a Monstrous Nightmare attempting to roast them like when the first arrived.

Gabriella looked at Victoria with a confused and disturbed expression before it returned to it's nervous and scared default. If it really was a devastating winter, then what did she expect those inside to do? They didn't know how far the two of them went, or if they even stuck together like they were told. The teen didn't really know the two who left well, but from her limited knowledge of the two, they were both act first, think later sorts of people. They were more eager to explore than prepare for the worst, which could stem into the thinking that they could discover more if they went their separate ways as long as they were both back in the time that they were given. It also wasn't a smart move to head out which would run the risk of them losing track of another if things did take a turn for the worse or tragic outcomes. The two who left were smart, so they would find shelter, or so Gabriella assumed since one of them was the daughter of the chief. Of course, that wasn't really saying much since she didn't know what the girl had learned from her father, but Hiccup was known for exploring and thinking out situations; finding the answers and best routes to take if he didn't freak. There was no way he didn't teach his kids how to survive in case a situation took a turn for the worse. So, after thinking this all out, Gabriella just opted to staying inside out of the most possible of danger's way.
This, however, meant she was forced to think about what the other girl had said before. She first started off making fun of her friends, or why she hung around them. That kind of infuriated the timid girl, but it was quickly replaced with a sense of defeat. She wasn't one to get mad, seeing as even Gabriella had wondered this. But that didn't mean it was something she liked hearing from someone who didn't understand the entire situation. But then, she...offered friendship? And, if her attitude toward her was any indicator, she was offering something that was different from what she had with her current friend group. Gabriella wasn't sure how to take that, or if she should even believe it for that matter. She hated this; not knowing what someone was trying to say to her. Gabriella had figured out how to read everyone who had approached her on New Berk, seeing as they fell into two groups: ridicule or beratement. Being confronted with something different, even if the timid girl didn't believe it to be genuine, was hard to swallow. So, she gripped the strap of her bag as her face heated up in both embarrassment and a high level of confusion. "Um...uh...I...I don't...I'm not..." she mumbled out, unable to think of what to say. What was there to say? Was she supposed to say yes? That was what was expected when someone asked this kind of question, after all. Would she be looked down on if she were to answer no? She didn't want that when there wasn't anywhere she could go to hide. "I can't...answer..." she whispered, just barely audible. She then retreated from the girl, going to fit herself into a corner of the building so she could both calm down and try to think this unknown situation out. She just wasn't sure what to do to ensure her survival.
