To Renee, it's a start. Since she never seen James be this nice to anybody. Remember he was struggling on giving compliments to anybody in general. So to hear his say that in such a cutesy way, Renee figured he was having a moment with Lydia.

xD she doesn't see them together that often it seems. Lydia's relationship is like that with Thomas, like he's one of those, "you can't pick on her but I can," types of brothers. Like with that bully in the One-Shot. Frederick is more doting and encouraging of her.

It might be because James and Renee don't really hang out as much. For Renee, she avoids him subconsciously so she doesn't hear his criticism. Even if she does admire his smarts and tries her best to somehow get his approval, she wants to stop hearing him criticizing everything she does or wears.

Same with James. He doesn't spend time with her because he wants to get stronger. Also because he's hanging out with Lydia more often than not. Same with Renee. She's together with Seifer way longer than most of the couples together because they sleep in the same rooms/tents now.

I honestly want the two of them to freaking hangout together as brother and sister, but I think they are still close somehow. I mean he can pick up when she's sad or something way faster then anybody else (other then Seifer) and she knows that he's emotionally awkward. So I think they are still tight, they just don't necessarily have to prove their care and love for each other at all since they can see it through their actions...

Seifer isn't the type to butt in either. XD He only does that whenever a) it's against him or b)when someone attacks what's important to him.
