Oh yeah... that's like a good idea. instead of basing their attacks off of their actual spells, they could imagine just whatever and you can roll to see if it's successful based on if it's in one of their good categories.

For example, Lydia is primarily fire and her conjuration what... is a nine? But she could summon a blizzard instead and still use the same skill?

Lydia is probably only imaginative when it comes to magic and even then, not very. xD it's part of why she always had issues casting.
