Amber Rowan Brightwood
Cafeteria, lunch
Interactions: open

Amber went through her morning uneventfully. She kept to herself for the most part, but tried to pay attention for anyone that may or may not have been there. Not knowing many people personally, that was not easy. She had more or less given up with individuals by lunch, but still would make mental notes of the supernatural people around her as she noticed her. With magic, it was fairly easy to tell.
The witch set her lunchbox down at a table that seemed empty enough and unpacked her food with a dull demeanor. She made faint note of the girl a few seats down across who seemed to completely disregard her food, instead opting to do her makeup. Amber gave her a concerned look before it occurred to her that recent events could easily rob people of their appetites. She continued eating in sullen silence.

"come on leg we've only been at this an hour. In a week we should be able to ditch the brace. Don't show weakness now!" Pepper's left leg trembled hard as she used her right knee hit a bag. She winced slightly before deciding to push her previous limit. "we got this leg. Just one flying knee then a shower. Then the brace can support you. Limp noodle limb."

Pepper said through her teeth before running three steps and jumping. Her focus shattered as she remembered the weightless feeling of being in her dad's suv as it rolled. She's snapped out of it just in time to improperly knee the bag and slam into the floor. "You okay up there Pep?" Her brother called from downstairs and she sucked in a quick breath holding her slightly swelling knee. "Faa-ntastic just hitting the bag. The floor too but i'm fine."

She wrapped her left leg in the brace and felt the pressure on it lessen a little. Her right knee ached and she sighed wiping her face off with a towel. She tossed it onto her shoulders and stepped downstairs. The attic stairs ended right by her door which made it a great training room. Robert lookedat her a little worried. "Sounded like you landed pretty hard. You sure you're alright?"

"Robert i landed on my good knee as intended. I'm not missing my first day of public school in three years over a welt on my knee. I'll be in the kitchen after i shower and i can assure you more." she responded shooing her sibling off before quickly ducking into her room. She peeled off her now sweaty clothes and jumped inthe shower.

Within 20 minutes she'd been walking out the front door keys in hand and coffee in the other. She drove to school at a speed most would only do if they were cruising.

She'd dressed special for the day. Some denim shorts and a white blouse. No exposed mid-drift bit the shorts wouldn't limit her mobility if somebody tried to bully her. "I actually dare somebody to mess with me. Catch a knee so fast even their dreams will be swimming." she mumbled parking in a handicap space before checking her placard. She noted the week left on it and quickly prayed it wouldn't get renewed. After her little ritual she got out and grabbed her messenger bag checking it to make sure her pepper spray and baton were in there. She was sure she wouldn't need them like ever but they were her final present from her parents.

She turned around to find some guy all up in her way and staring at her hips. "Excuse me can I help you? Pretty sure if you're looking for a piece of meat there's a butcher in town." Her tone was only half serious, but if the guy didn't stop eyeballing her like a piece of meat she'd get annoyed. Her leg brace was already running against her thigh causing the skin to itch. "on second thought you got a pencil? Damn brace is gonna drive me nuts if i don't scratch the itch soon."

"let's see those jockstraps shake this off." Libra said with a grin as he poured a white powder in a locker. He closed the locker and set the lock back on. His father had been a locksmith so he knew how to open basic locks. He rubbed his face glad his new status as a werewolf kept it from bruising. "That'll teach the football team to make fun of my thin figure. Not all guys need to be buff."

Libra went to lunch and looked around hands on his hips and a big grin. He had won this battle for his rights. The conversations in the cafeteria slowly drifted over to him and he followed the accompanying glances. He saw a girl from his grade sitting alone.

"A meal from the free food section. Nuh uh it's pizza day girl. Like the only good thing they make here." Libra mumbled going to the lunch counter. He ended up with two trays as he walked over to the table. He plopped down on the other side of the table and slid a tray over. Each tray had some chocolate milk a slice of cheese pizza and a perfectly red apple.

"You always eat the peanut sandwiches? Pretty sure that's the driest thing on the menu. I almost grabbed you a soda from the vending machine but... well I'd rather not get something you don't like." Libra said with a small smile before hearing a boy behind him say something about lesbians. Libra used the tiniest bit of magic and heard the boy yell in surprise. The boy got up with a huge wet spot on his crotch and the laughter started. "Guys stop laughing it's just soda!"

Libra smirked before applying another touch to finish the prank. He made the boy's pants slightly too big causing them to fall. Everybody started laughing a little harder as the boy trudged off. Libra had practiced doing the little bit of magic he knew without having to prepare much or make any real missle gestures.

Hanah was surprised by tray that was pushed to front of her and how girl sat other side of table.
"I don't have money." Hanah said softly, as she expected that girl would want her to pay food. Girl looked nice, little boyish, but nice. Weird was that she looked like she would be at her grade, but Hanah didn't remember seeing her, maybe she just was at different classes or schoolworks had taked her focus, at just P.E. Hanah's focus was normally to survive if there was any competitions that could go physical.

As she reapplied her lipstick, she couldn’t help but notice a girl a few tables away looking at her. Right at her, not looking past her. It drew her attention, as she thought she was doing a good job of keeping her head down for once. Evie closed her compact and glanced over her shoulder to make sure there was nobody behind her that the girl was looking at. She couldn’t help wondering what the girl was thinking about her. She thinks you’re a freak. Evie shook her head faintly, slipping her things back into her bag and preparing to move over. Those were just the paranoid thoughts talking.

Picking up her lunch, she rose from her seat and moved towards the girl’s table. She put her lunch down and pulled out a seat. Although Evie didn't know the girl, even by name, she seemed unhappy and it made Evie's heart ache to see somebody else unhappy. She figured that the girl would rather have somebody to talk to at lunch and maybe they could even be friends, if things went well.

“Hi!” Evie said, brightly, as she sat down, “Sorry, I don’t think I know you. Are you a sophomore? I remember when I was a sophomore. Good times. Well, kinda," She picked up her fork and drummed it against the table rapidly, "I'm Evie. Well, Evelyn, but it's Evie. One of my moms calls me Evelyn but she's the only one. You can call me Evie. Sorry, I'm totally rambling again. I don't do it on purpose, I swear. When I'm nervous, it all just kind of comes out."

She was a bit surprised when the girl picked up and moved over to introduce herself. Amber listened while Evie went on.
‘Yeah, sophomore. I'm Amber.’ She continued eating as she spoke. But good times? Anecdotally, maybe. General problems have been progressively getting worse.’
She didn't explicitly mention the massacre found that morning, assuming Evie had already heard about it. Amber also remained vague on the ‘problems.’ She didn't seem supernatural, but if Evie knew, she knew, and if she wouldn't then Amber wouldn't be the one to shock her with that.

"I don't bite guy know. Not hard anyways. If money is the problem i'll give you some. My mother keeps sending me money but i work so i don't need it." Libra said pulling out his wallet he killed out a small clump of money and dropped it on the table. He then leaned in a little and looked around. "i heard your mom got sent to the hospital last night. Some sort of dog attack? If you need a place to stay you can stay at my place until she gets out. Either way if you want to keep that dog away you are gonna need some wolf's bane. Just keep it in your bag when you aren't out on the town. Some people like me are allergic." he said before leaning back. He looked around and noticed he was gathering attention. He set another item on the table and then got up. "Keep that handy too. Just in case. You seem like a nice girl."

"No i don't have a pencil. You could get my number if you want. I--" the guy said as Pepper started walking away. She felt something brush the bottom edge of her shorts and whipped around. The second she was facing him she gave him a quick jab to the throat. She watched him fall into his ass coughing. "I don't call pigs. Touch me again and i'll kick your ass." she said annoyed before storming off toward the office to get her schedule for her first day of school tomorrow.

"But should't i pay you flom food?" Hanah was confused and even more when girl gived her money. Hanah stared money that girl gived to her, like she hadn't ever seen money before. Normally she had just couple dollars with her if they had enough to spare to her lunch money, that most times where taked away by her bully at morning. "Thank you, vely much... umm. Who ale you? My name is Hanah." Hanah looked weird thing that girl put on table next to money.

“General... Problems?” Evie paused, curious about the phrasing. If she had glanced at the news that morning, instead of purposely ignoring it, perhaps she would have been able to jump to conclusions. As it was, she mostly appeared confused.

Evie twirled a strand of her hair idly around her index finger, “Does that mean you’re not having a good time? That really sucks. I mean, I understand. Sometimes... Things... are not good.”

She looked uncomfortable for a moment, as memories flashed up in her mind on cue. The things she was referring to were her own problems with her OCD- it sucked. It totally sucked. It was the reason that she’d become a shut-in and then a hospital resident during her junior year of high school. But she wasn’t willing to talk about it right now, not to a total stranger. Evie decided the best tactic was to distract from her discomfort.

“For instance, you’ll never guess what I saw today!” She perked up, “Jackson Andrews pulled a knife in the parking lot this morning. Yeah, it was kinda crazy but people say he’s, you know, bat shit.”

Aaah, so Evie definitely was not aware of the supernatural situation.
‘Wait, who what?’ Amber sat up in her seat a little more. Andrews? Oh, yeah, uh, I have heard he is a little odd. I don't know him personally, though.’ Taking a few seconds to scour her mind, Amber tried to remember if he was human or not. She came to the conclusion of ‘I don't know, but he’s creepy as hell.’
‘Still, if he’s trying to stab people, it'd be wise to steer clear. Don't wanna walk through the ER doors like ‘surprise, I got stabbed!’’
Amber took another bite of food before she continued talking.
Anyway, just… the general area, town’s got problems. Have you seen any local news lately?’

"My name is Libby and that oh innocent one. Is a stun gun. Kids here are like sharks and as pepsi back in Texas once said. Sharks don't like shocks." Libra started shooting Pepper as she walked past the cafeteria. That couldn't be Pepper, could it? I heard some tough ass super hit her and her parents SUV with a semi. That girl is walking pretty well to me. His stare lingered a little longer than he'd intended and pepper glanced at him with a stare that told him somebody new was on her shit list. The thought of angering pepper made him shiver. "See that new girl over there? If you're a nice person she'll help you through hell and high water. Act like a total jerk and she'll probably warn you before breaking your nose. She'd be a good friend to have. I could introduce you. Looks like she'll be staying classes tomorrow." Libra asked Hanah.

Evie, who had still been holding her fork in her left hand, abruptly dropped her fork and it clattered onto the floor. She swooped down to pick it up and put it back on the table, her face hot. Stabbing... The thought made her heart race, bumping along in her chest frantically. She really could've died this morning... It turned her stomach just thinking about it and she stared at her lunch in defeat. She returned her gaze to Amber, who she realised had asked her another question.

"The news?" She shook her head, looking slightly distressed, "I can't- I mean, I don't watch the news. There's too much death, too much dying. It, um, kinda freaks me out seeing that stuff," She leaned back in her chair with a sigh, "If you're about to tell me something really horrible, I'd rather not hear it."

She began to chew on her fingernails, waiting for Amber to speak. There was good reason she avoided the news, as it had great potential to trigger her and Evie reckoned it was better to be uninformed than anxious. She worried that if Amber said anything too upsetting, too scary, she might leap out of her chair and leave the cafeteria. Go to the nurse's office, fake a headache. Already she could feel her breathing speeding up as she sat on the edge of her seat.

God, I'm such a freak. Evie just hoped Amber didn't think she was too.

‘Exactly. That’s what I mean by “general problems.”’ Amber quickly finished her sandwich, but took note of Evie’s entire shift in demeanor. Maybe she wasn't clueless? The witch was too tired to give it too much more thought. Still, Evie’s reaction evoked something like pity. Sorry if that scared you. But for real, avoid him and stay away from spooky stuff. And probably the woods.’ Not that there were many changelings in the local Court, but she still wouldn't want someone to get whisked away by the fae.
Though Amber was younger, a little bit of her felt like she needed to protect Evie; she was quite obviously lacking supernatural self-defense. Most human people here weren't, anyway. But still.
'Also, are you alright besides that? You didn't look like you were eating.'

"Those who ale my fliends get hulted." Hanah said sadly, there had been couple kids before that had been her friends, but either bullies pushed them away from her or when her dad was still around all that was needed was one time to them come to Hanah's house. Hanah taked money and tazer, putting them inner pocket of her schoolbag, hoping that her bullies hadn't noticed that she had get money. Her schoolbag was just old red backpack that she had get as kid, there was holes at it and it's straps had been fixed multiple times as they had snapped or cutted. "Alen't you scaled that you could get hulted because you ale with me?" Hanah asked from Libby.

"Don't worry, I don't go anywhere near the woods," Evie laughed at the thought of being anywhere near brave enough to go somewhere so scary. She couldn't even go to non-scary places most of the time, let alone the woods. Amber's tip to avoid things made her grin. Evie had been the overly cautious, avoidance freak for as long as she could remember. Or at least since... You know. It had been a long time since anyone had advised her to stay out of trouble.

Amber questioning whether she was alright made her grin fade a little. Oh, God, she totally knows you're crazy. Hold on. She couldn't just jump to conclusions. She decided to play it as cool as she could.

"I'm okay," Evie smoothed down her hair, "I'm just... I guess, I'm working through some personal stuff. No big deal," She shrugged her shoulders and focused on something else Amber had said, "Hey, what do you mean by spooky stuff exactly? You mean like ghosts and demons and stuff?"

She made the sign of the cross in front of her without sparing it any thought, almost out of habit. Although she wasn't too sure about whether any kind of supernatural did exist, Evie was wholly Christian and firmly believed in warding off any kind of evil. Sometimes, she got a tingling feeling that something could be out there- like when she imagined that girl having fangs that morning- but she'd been to enough therapy to know that it was probably her mind playing tricks on her.

"Nah i live life dangerously. Just put itching powder in the football team's uniforms before i came here. Plus i know a person who can help if i get in trouble." Libra said with a dorky grin pointing on a pair of goofy purple glasses. He turned to walk away before looking back to Hanah and making the cover for ears motion. He bumped into one of the cool kids and used the distraction to toss a firecracker under the table. As he walked toward the door it went off and a voice came over the PA system. "Will one Libby Fallson report to the office please. One Libby Fallson. We could hear it from here Libby." the voice sounded very annoyed but Libra just smiled. The second he stepped out of the cafeteria he got socked in the arm.

He struggled to swallow anything. Truly did. The news he saw this morning had thrown him off the course completely. Remy came here to hide from those bastards. What were they doing in here? This was supposed to be his safe space. But here he was, without a pack to protect him, a bunch of bloodsuckers and hunters surrounding his weak self. Popping from every corner like daisies in spring. He felt unsafe, alone.
Shoveling some food inside his mouth, he was trapped in his own thoughts. Remy was new in here, he did not really know how anything worked. He still had to figure out the hierarchy and how the society worked in here. He'd have to either completely isolate himself and hope to survive, or make allies. He hated that way of thinking, but this was indeed war. Okay, well, perhaps everything was a tad bit dramatized in his teenage mind.
Even he himself would acknowledge that.

After a few minutes of his neuroticism reaching its peak, there were loud sounds echoing in the cafeteria. Firecrackers. That's what they were. But in Remy's mind, it translated to guns. What a nice way to trigger him on his first day. He had grown up in a literal favela, this sound was not uncommon but it always signaled someone's death. The boy dropped his fork on his plate loudly, freezing up and staying like that for a while. When it was all over, he struggled to control his trembling hands. Remy tried to pick up the fork, failing every time.
Muttering foreign curses under his breath, he wiped his face with his shirt and gave up. It wasn't like someone was there to feed him every time he spontaneously froze. Remy ran his fingers through his hair multiple times to calm himself. He was safe in here. Everything would be just spectacular and brilliant. He'd fit just perfectly in here.

The loud 'bang!' caused Evie to leap to her feet involuntarily, setting off her fight, flight, or freeze instinct instantly. Stammering an apology to Amber, who hadn't even gotten a chance to answer her question, she bolted in the direction of the door. An anxious person by nature, it took the smallest thing to set off Evie's fears. She would've made it out of the door in seconds, if she hadn't stumbled directly into a boy at the table behind them in her panic. She tripped over her own feet and ended up right on his lap, face burning. She thought she might die of embarrassment.

"Oh my god, I'm so, so, so sorry!" Evie squealed, hating that the ruckus had caused people to stare at her, "I'm sorry! I tripped, I wasn't looking where I was going. Shit," She pushed herself off the boy's lap and stared at him in horror, realising she'd almost crushed a complete stranger, "I'm so sorry, I need to- God."

She bounded out of the cafeteria, only half-realising that nothing bad had happened aside from the 'bang!'. It was only once she'd made it out into the corridor and collapsed against the wall, sliding down so that she was sitting against it, that she truly realised that she wasn't in danger. She was safe. Nothing bad had happened. She hadn't died. It had just been a loud noise, nothing dangerous, and now she'd made a fool of herself. Everybody in that cafeteria was probably laughing at her right now.

"Way to be normal, Evie!" She chastised herself, lowering her head to rest on her knees, "God, what a freak."

She sat across from him hoping she could help. "Je ne comprends pas ce que vous dites, mais je serais heureux d'apprendre." She stated before translating just in case he didn't understand her French. She laughed a little at her own error of slipping into French. "I do not understand what you are saying, but I would be happy to learn. Sorry i tend to respond to foreign languages in French." She blushed a little embarrassed that she'd slipped into French.

He was just about to leave for his own good before he encountered a force to be reckoned with. Just as he was standing from his seat, he flew right back, crashing back down on his backside. He sucked air in through his gritted teeth, closing his eyes in pain as he threw his head lightly back. Remy was about to start complaining before he noted that there was some type of a weight on his lap. At first, he furrowed his brows, then slowly raised one of them up as he lifted his head. Lucky for him, he was staring down a girl who was awkwardly positioned on him. She looked like a deer in headlights, and he responded with a similar gaze.

It took him a few seconds to register what was happening. Once his brain was done staring at the girl like he was about to snap her neck, the embarrassment settled in. He nervously looked around himself, noting that many people were staring, whispering and giggling under their breaths. His face softened and unfortunately reddened too. He blinked a few times, finally understanding what was going on as she started apologizing. The boy tried to catch up with her fast and mismatched words.

"Huh? I-It's alright," he covered his mouth as he realized that he had stuttered. It was a bad habit from his childhood that would occasionally persist whenever he was in a very emotional state. It wasn't every day that someone decided to take R. Kelly's words too seriously and believe they could fly straight to someone's lap. Suddenly she cursed and pushed herself away from him, leaving him with that confused look. Girls were so weird. But he couldn't blame her, he was escaping the loud sounds too.

Just as he was about to leave, once again, someone interrupted him. Another girl. She introduced herself as Pepper. It was a rare but fun name. He nodded as a way to acknowledge her, his face going back to its tan self. She responded to him with French. He didn't speak much but could recognize the language anywhere, anytime.

"Pleasure to meet you Pepper. I'm Remy," he was a bit hesitant to reveal his name. People really loved to link his name to the cartoon of that cooking Rat. The fact that this lady seemed to speak French only reinforced his belief that he would have to live with the nickname 'Ratboy' for another few years. He was still in that awkward I'm-not-sitting-down-but-not-standing-either pose, pinning Pepper down with his gaze like a hawk.

"It's Portuguese. Brazilian Portuguese." He smiled as he answered and slowly stood up. Remy could not take any more of the stares he was getting and had to escape. He made that awkward head nod again before taking his leave. It was a tiny bit rude, but he had to do it for his own sanity. What a great way to make a first impression.

Once he was out of the gazes of those predatory highschoolers, he could finally exhale. Remy had yet to figure out everything in this school, including the halls, classrooms, and most importantly, people. This must have been his lucky day since he almost immediately spotted the girl from before. Pondering and weighing his options, he decided to clean his now tampered reputation and apologize to the girl too. Who knows, maybe he could make use of their awkward first encounter. He stood a few feet away from her, regretting his choice already. "I, umm, hello. Sorry about the earlier. I didn't get to apologize," he waved, but upon noticing that she was too busy staring at her knees, he masked it as tucking his hair behind his ear.

God, she was so stupid to think that this year was going to be different. She couldn't believe she'd bought into that "new year, new me" crap that her mom liked to talk about and that she'd just expected everything to be normal. A few therapy sessions and some time in the hospital wasn't just going to make everything go away. Just because she was capable of doing a lot more stuff now didn't mean her anxiety just vanished. Just because she could leave the house now and didn't have to flick the light switch six times every time she entered a room didn't mean her OCD was gone. And now, Amber probably thought she was totally crazy, along with everybody else that had witnessed her display. Not to mention the guy that she-

A voice cut through her internal thoughts, startling her, and it was almost a relief because she could feel herself starting to spiral. Tears had even started to form in the corners of her eyes, which she blinked away quickly so they vanished into the fabric of her jeans. Evie hadn't expected anyone to follow her out, let alone try and talk to her. Lifting her head from her knees, she quickly recognised him as being the same boy who she'd fallen on top of a few moments ago. And he was trying to apologise to her. Before he'd even finished his sentence, she was shaking her head and offering him a small smile. He looked just as utterly freaked out as she felt. Actually, she realised that he'd been exhibiting the same horror as she when they'd stared at each other in the cafeteria. Maybe he was sort of... A kindred spirit. Someone like her.

"You don't have to say sorry, it was totally my fault. Though, I mean, I kinda tripped up so I guess it wasn't entirely my fault. It was mostly an accident. I'm sorry, anyway, though. I don't usually go around throwing myself into people's laps like that. Not that I have a problem with people that do that kinda thing but it really was just an accident. I'm blabbering. That happens sometimes too," Eventually, she had to pause to gulp some air and she combed a hand through her long hair, hoping she didn't look too dishevelled.

For a moment, she looked him over and took him in, before she continued, "I didn't mean to freak you out or anything, so I'm sorry if I did. By the way, my name's Evie. I mean, it's Evelyn but Evie is totally fine because I guess we're friends now. Are you new here? I wouldn't ask but you've got that I'm-totally-freaking-out-because-I'm-new kinda vibe."

He could smell the salt, had she been crying? Remy instantly felt a bit bad about it. He was listening to her talk, the corners of his mouth tugging upwards slowly. It was kind of funny, kind of adorable. The kind of feeling you get when you watch kids trying something for the first time. He bit his lower lip, looking to the side with an amused face. What? Blabbering was kind of funny. He often stumbled over his words too, but not this hard. When she signaled that she was done blabbering by fixing her hair, Remy paid attention to her once again.

He accepted her apology with another acknowledging nod. He figured that if he tried to clap back and say sorry again, she'd go on another rant. So he just faintly smiled with his eyes. She introduced herself as Evie...Evelyn...no, Evie it was then. He laughed a bit under his breath. She already had dared to call him her friend. Although it was a bit mean, he still didn't think of her as such. To him, a friend was a stronger bond. For now, he knew her name. Trading names meant acquaintances.
"Hey Evie, Evelyn, Evie." he made a funny remark to try and break the ice. If she wanted to be friends, then she'd have to deal with these kinds of stupid remarks a lot.

"I'm Remy. Alto Remy." he introduced himself too, placing his hand on his chest. He felt a little awkward when he had to constantly look down to talk to her. He was surprised at how quickly she found out that he was new. Was it so...obvious? "Oh! Um, yes I am. I'm kind of surprised that you noti-" he didn't finish the sentence. Of course she would notice. He acted like a complete newbie throughout the day. Sitting in the corners like a creep, it was surprising that he didn't hiss or growl at every passing person.

"I guess I am," he admitted as he offered his hand for her to grab and pull herself up.

Remy seemed nice enough, even though he seemed to find her chattering amusing. She supposed she couldn't blame him for that. She'd been teased for being a chatterbox for as long as she could remember but nobody seemed to dislike it about her. Another thing she noticed about Remy was that he seemed thoughtful, as if he was considering every single word she said; Evie liked that about him. Despite her talkative nature, she was a very thoughtful person herself and she could understand how somebody spent a lot of time in their own head.

"Oh, thanks!" Evie took hold of his extended hand and got to her feet, "New kid, huh? I promise this kind of stuff doesn't happen a lot. Cleora is pretty much like every other town and this high school is pretty much like every other high school. Not that I've ever lived anywhere else," Her words came out less rushed now, a lot less manic and a lot more ordinary, "If you like, I can show you around town later. Though I can't promise you a ride unless you want to hop on the back of my bike."

Already, Evie knew that she would not be able to go back into the cafeteria today. Not unless she wanted to start OCD-ing the heck out, right here in the hallway in front of her new friend. Even looking towards the entrance made her feel a bit odd, so she turned her back on it and focused her attention on Remy instead. She couldn't help but wonder where he was from but it seemed rude to bring it up- Evie didn't want to come across as one of those people that demanded to know what country people were from, when it really wasn't any of her business. She had been on the other end of those conversations too many times, repeatedly explaining that just because her last name was a Spanish one didn't mean she was Spanish.

"So, what do you think of Cleora so far, new boy?" Evie asked.

He grabbed on her hand and pulled her up. Remy automatically took a step back and let her hand go immediately to avoid any awkward misunderstandings. He wondered if he should do one of those 'woah, you are so heavy' jokes or just behave like a normal human being should. Choosing the latter, he kept his mouth tightly sealed. For now at least. She was nice enough to tell him lots of things about Cleora. For instance, how boring this town started to sound with every word she spoke. He let out a defeated sig when she mentioned that nothing interesting really happened here. At least he would be saf- hold on. Are murders considered 'ordinary' in here? Is she just clueless because she's a human being? No...it was in the news too.

That was how he interpreted her words. She also revealed that she had never lived anywhere else before. Such a shame, she didn't know what she was missing then. He shook away the news from before, his face getting more serious. As if she had just mentioned that her mother died in a car crash, even if she was just talking about bikes. That word immediately piqued his interest. Was she talking about the old average bicycle, or something more interesting?

"Maybe when you're older, you could try other places. All little towns have their little charms, I know, I know," he started, already calming her down by placing his hands up as if he just surrendered. "-but there's a whole world out there. I was born in Brazil, but I got to travel a whole lot. Honestly, nothing beats that." He looked quite happy before realizing he's been revealing a bit too much. "By the whole world, I mean Texas," he laughed as he took a jab at himself. Remy wasn't quite telling the truth, but then again, he did live in Texas for a whole lot of time.

She asked him what he thought about Cleora, and he pondered a while before trying to answer. "How can I answer anything if I don't know anything?" He jerked his head towards the entrance that she had been looking at before turning away. "Are you the skipping type? I've got a bike too," he smiled again, gesturing the whole 'revving up motorcycle' deal to give her a hint of what kind of a bike.
