I still have the image of the wall with the Nina-shaped blood splatter forever seared into my brain. Gah everything about that episode from the mounting tension as Ed slowly puts the pieces together to the visuals were just done so gosh darn well. Shdbsdbfs poor 12 year old Ed fr had it rough in that early section of the show but man did it make for some pretty dang engaging scenes.

Fr such a good episode with so much tension it keeps you on your feet. I need to re watch fma now that one piece is on a hiatus

I have never actually seen FMA, I only know it for is general plot, disability representation and that reveal. I know Ed isn't going to be too traumatized by human experimentation being mentioned alone but when I thought about playing Kamukura that scene flashes behind my eyes and I went: "Uh-oh..."

Also, ever since I decided to roleplay Sonic, I can't stop watching hedgehog videos. I can't believe Sega saw these little guys and went: "Yeah, that's our cool, heroic protagonist."

Since finding out Classic Sonic likes to nap wherever and whenever like a real hedgehog, I haven't stop thinking about all the little animal things he could do. Sonic bathes with an oversized toothbrush, his whole faces scrunches when he yawns, and he rolls up into a ball when you pick him up. He will stick his face in a tube and run around with it on his head. You can't convince me otherwise.

I LOVE animal-esque characters for this reason.
Ngl I was really tempted to bring an au of Daisuke in, which was about them becoming one of the monsters from the game franchise he's from. (Monsters in universe are basically just animals so I mean)

But yeah, thought about my favorite au of Daisuke, which makes him part Valstrax and it's just sooooo cool. I have so many Headcanons for that guy

I'm still figuring out who I'd want, but being hesitant cuz I kinda wanna do an OC but have had bad experiences with using them in rps like this mostly because people will quickly brush them off quickly. Fhdjfjf lol but don’t get me wrong if Kamukura went into the real nitty gritty of what was done to him, I’m sure Ed would absolutely be appalled. I actually got curious and did some googling and apparently the modern lobotomy procedure as we know it really only got popularized in the 30’s, with there not being a ton of experiments done/papers written on the topic during the 10’s-20’s. I know the messed up stuff done to Kamukura probably goes wayyyy beyond even current brain surgery practices, but I think from the perspective of someone who’s knowledge of human experimentation was basically entirely within an alchemical context, seeing how a world without alchemy still has the capability to mess with the human body/mind in such horrific ways would certainly be pretty dang unnerving 🫨

But oh gosh speaking of Ed, with how much I’ve been struggling to get a post out for him what I think I may have to do is just cut down my current outline by a lot and just try to plop him in a place where he’s caught up with things in the rp. sdhfjshfs I hate doing that since I always wanna take the time to have him give at least some reaction to everything that’s happened but at this point I think it’d be better to get something small and quick out rather than keep grueling over the same post for days.

Sephiroth’s father is a different type of evil than Shou beyond redemption at least Shou started with good intentions though yeah. I imagine Ed would hate professor Hojo for the inhumane experiments and one of them on his unborn son. Seph’s mom isn’t better she accepted the experiments on her son..

What Hinata/Kamukura experienced wasn't actually a lobotomy, that's a misconception by the fandom. I won't go too into detail, I already have a history of posting essays on my blog and putting way too much research into neurological conditions and surgeries that my FBI agent must think I'm a serial killer.

What Kamukura experienced as far as my research goes does not have an actual medical name.

What the Kamukura Project aimed to do was to manipulate cognitive and emotional functions and force neuroenhancements (The ultimate talents) to optimize cognitive performance. If that sounded like a bunch of big word jumble, here a simpler explanation: They surgically removed Hinata's personality, hobbies, memories, and emotions. The reason they even encouraged Hinata to join the project was due to his lack of talent, which left him a blank template they could gut and reform into the Ultimate Hope. Kamukura is meant to be an embodiment of social ideology with no emotional understanding and is incapable of non-conformance.

The only thing I can really put out as a definitive answer was Kamukura had a extended bifrontal craniotomy. A craniotomy is the removal of a section of skull called the 'bone flap' and extended bifrontal is incisions made to the scalp behind the hairline. This is usually used to access the frontal lobe. This is based on his canon scar, that is described to be across his forehead.

A lobotomy was originally for severing neural pathways to alleviate debilitating symptoms from disorders. I'm not trying to say it wasn't unethical, it very much was. We never see what kind of surgeries Hinata experienced in the anime, but Enoshima spoke about how she envied the scientist for being able to perform with steady hands. That's how bad it was.

I finally finished the dang post! There’s definitely some things I think I could have done a better job at communicating in it and there’s some other little things about the post that’ll continue to bug me but tbh I’m just glad I was able to get something out. Sdfbhdfb now I’m off to continue working on Shard’s CS
