[Heroes of Our Time] Scenario 1: And So Our Adventure Begins

Koyomi came back from having handed the purse back to the victim and assuring she was alright.

"Okay people, got the purse back to the owner. How about we find an officer now ?"

Thomas softens his tone, his focus shifting to comforting their driver now that it seemed he was no threat. "But you know what you've seen," he finishes for their driver. "And you know, I think, that even though the three of us are human, we are on the same level as the monsters you have seen." He tilts his head to one side appraisingly, once more meeting the man's eyes, "You have a duty, you know. To your wife, to your co-workers, to your city itself, and I think you know that. You have the opportunity to make a difference for them, right here and now, even if they never know it. Tell us what you know. I won't ask you to put yourself at risk in any way, but if you talk to use, we will believe you and we will keep you safe."

Shifting tactics now that he has his response. Attempting to learn whatever it is the driver is hiding, and completely sincere in his promise to protect him. Again, one bonus success from Epic Charisma.

Her eyes narrow as she looks at the man fully, then shakes her head. "I'm somehow doubtin' that you want this boy for just stealin' a purse." She gives the thief a little jab in the ribs with her elbow, still looking at the man. "And...if you're a bounty hunter, than I've got a seat waiting for me in the House of Lords."

He looked between them all and just shrugged and started to walk off with the thief toward the nearest police station. "He can take it up with the authorities." He said over his shoulder.

The Passengers: The man seems to relax, defusing the situation somewhat. "Well, it's just that...I heard stories about this sort of thing happening before. This was years ago, though, back in the 80's. I'm trying to remember, what was it, 198...6? Sounds about right."

If nothing, the man appears to be rather biddable.

The Chasers: As Fenric leaves, suddenly, things take a turn for the worse. As the "bounty hunter" tries to stop you leaving, the thief suddenly grumbles something in Japanese, probably something not nice (well, kind of expected). But then, the man's face suddenly cracks, his jawline now colored like stained glass. As if to make matters worse, a pair of...well, something appears up above Fenric, attempting to clamp down on the Scion's neck, just barely beyond his perception.

Roll Perception + Awareness, please.[/spoilers]

Raven asks, "What makes you think that what has happened is something out of the ordianry? It could just be some sicko that gets his jollies off by attacking people. You seem sure that this is not the case. Why?"

Raven: "Stranger things have happened in Japan," the cabbie says mysteriously. "A lot of us believe the world still has magic in it..."

Further conversation, however, comes to a halt as you draw up to the front of the hospital. It seems normal enough, but considering Fate put three Scions together in the same teahouse, you can't be sure it's going to stay that way.

Fenric: Looking up, you can see a strange sight. It looks like two drops made of glass, no bigger than the size of your head. Suddenly, like a pair of hornets, they jab right at your neck. A second later and you'd have been struck, but you've caught it just in time.

Fate likes you. He only rolled one success on the attempted ambush and two on the attack roll, so your DDV saves you.

Roll Join Battle, folks, its battle time!

A titanspawn, right in the middle of the day. That thing was most daring. Koyomi immediately took a combat pose and yelled to the others:

"Everyone, get to safety. I'll handle this thing !"

Raven thanks the driver for his service in getting them to the hospital so quickly, and takes care of the fare and tip. She climbs out and looks over at Jing. "I have a feeling that we may be depending on your services to translate, since I don't speak more than a word or two of Japanese. Gentlemen, shall we?"

Jing scratches his head and gives a silly smile, "Sure! But no 'Shakespearean' or poetry allowed!"

Raven laughs. "No poetry? Not even, 'There once was a woman from Nantucket'?"

Yes, you are currently in control of the grapple on your new foe.

At the Fight: The "bounty hunter" didn't appear to be ready for this at all. And given that two things from nowhere just almost pierced a guy's neck, most of the civilians are already running, trying to clear out before they get caught in the melee.

Tick 0: Fenric

Tick 2: Brianne

Tick 4: Titanspawn?

Tick 6: Koyomi, "bounty hunter"

Fenric quickly dropped the creature back head first by falling backward, and as soon as they impacted he used the momentum to flip over the Titanspawn and lock up the monster's arms and legs using his own in the process.

Because you're grappling him, his DV is currenly 0. Go ahead and roll damage for a clinch attack.

Activating Crushing Grip Knack for 1 Legend to do Lethal damage. At least Clinching does piercing damage.

Thomas steps out with a nod of thanks to Raven. At Jing's request, a mischievous twitch shows on the left side of his mouth, "Just the poetry is off limits? An it please you, t'would be narry an affront to mine person, nor a trouble to be had to crow and natter in archaic vernacular, with naught a verse within." He double checks his pockets to ensure his soldiers are still there and turns toward the hospital, waving good bye to their driver. Pausing for one final moment to take in the exterior of the building and account for it in his plans, he politely asks, "Shall we?" before walking steadily toward the entrance.

Raven wrinkles up her nose at the smells of the hospital; disinfectant and sick people. One disadvantage to having better-than-human senses. She decides to let Jing take his lead here. He is the native of the reigon, and seems to know where they are going in the hospital. Perhaps I should learn how to speak Japanese. If Mother is going to have me running around the islands it would be useful.

Fenric: The thief gives a shout in Japanese at getting slammed into the ground, still trying to struggle out of your grasp.

Tick 2: Brianne

Tick 4: Titanspawn? (Inactive)

Tick 6: Koyomi, "bounty hunter," Fenric

"Get to safety, she says..." Brienne smirks at the young Japanese girl as she drops the illusion from the pistol at her side and points it dead at the Titanspawn. She doesn't take the shot just yet, though; Fenric seems to be holding it for the moment.

Aiming!

Raven, Thomas, Jing: The hospital looks smells like all the others: an austere place smelling heavily of cleaner and medicine, with linoleum tiles and inoffensive beige walls. Nobody gives you a second look, except for the receptionist at the center of the lobby.

"Konnichi wa," the woman says politely in typical Japanese style. "How can I help you today?"

Brienne, Fenric, Koyomi: The Titanspawn continues to struggle in Fenric's grip, unable to do much in the Scion of Loki's grasp. It almost seems surprised by this revelation, although it's still trying to break free.

Tick 5: Brienne

Tick 6: Koyomi, "bounty hunter," Fenric

Tick 9: Titanspawn (Inactive)

Titanspawn's inactive, so his turn is skipped. Your move again.

Raven looks at the receptionist and kicks on the smile. "Hello! We're here to visit a few of your paitents. Could you give us directions to their rooms?" She shows the girl the list of possible victims of Titanspawn attacks. Perhaps one of them could give the three Scions some answers.

Jing attempted to translate everything Raven says,"Kon'nichiwa! Watashitachi wa anata no paitents no ikutsu ka o hōmon suru tame ni koko ni iru. Anata wa jibun no heya ni watashitachi ni shiji o ataeru koto ga dekiru"
