[Heroes of Our Time] Scenario 1: And So Our Adventure Begins

"Oh no you're not escaping !" pronounced an over enthusiast pursuant.

No thief would escape under this guardian of justice's watch.

2 sux + 2 auto sux = 4

He soon becomes aware of the others that are chasing the thief and smiled a little bit at the thought of a potential pack hunting down prey. "Whoever reaches him last is buying the drinks!" He renewed the chase the excitement thrilling him, the thief's scent filling his nostrils so that he couldn't escape Fenric no matter he might run to. Fenric moved from car to car, using the height advantage to his best ability.

Rolled 4 dice, add Epic Dex and spent 1WP. Total: 5 successes.

Wuming, are you going into the same tea house that Raven and Tomas are at? I didn't want to post anything about you being there without knowing for sure.

Raven was enjoying her conversation with Thomas, but she stiffens up when the sudden aroma of ink and old paper assails her nose, along with the sound of rustling silk. Her hand drifts down to the handle of her .44 as she looks around the room, and mutters, "Another Scion? What are you up to, Mother?" Her raven on her shoulder nudges her head and looks at the new arrival to the tea house, and Raven looks him over. She then suddenly realized that she spoke aloud, and her eyes snap back to Tomas to see how he will react to her slip.

All emotion leaves Thomas' face as reflex takes over. This wasn't the first time a seemingly friendly conversation had become potentially dangerous. Then again, the 'danger' in these situations was usually financial rather than supernatural. The principal was the same, though. Give them as little as possible until you are once again on more even footing. "'Another Scion'?" His thoughts race to process all that phrase could mean. The mention of 'Mother' limited things somewhat; most likely Raven was Scion herself and no significant danger. It would be nice to have a peer to speak to who was such pleasant company. On the other hand, she could also be aligned with the Titans and preparing to destroy both him and whoever this 'other Scion' was. Neither likely nor encouraging, as Thomas could not easily reach his weapon and a Titan's hunter out for his head would not be in this situation without a means of force ready at hand. In either case, the only thing to do would be to continue discussion and hope the facts panned out in his favour.

All this flashes through his mind the time it takes him to cock his head slightly to one side and continue in more hushed tone, "Am I to assume that we share that . . . dubious honour?" I do hope so. It would be such a sad end to such a pleasant talk otherwise. As a matter of course he looks around the room for a clear space that five warriors could appear in. He was unlikely to get the chance if things went south, but it never hurt to look ahead on the off chance.

Raven lets out a embarassed smile. "Um, yeah. I can sense the presence of other . . . people . . . like us. You, me, and that fellow that just came in to the tea house, well, we are all Scions. I've never met him, so I don't have any detials, but I think he's Chinese. Smells like one, at least." She taps the side of her nose with a knowing look, then glances across the room at the newcommer. She takes another piece of cracker from her pocket and slips it to the bird on her shoulder, and whispers to it, "Keep an eye on him for me, and let me know if he starts to come this way. Thomas, I'm sorry if I startled you; that was not my intention. My mother tends to meddle in my life, and so when I sensed you, I was wondering if there is a reason for us both to be here in the same tea house. With the presence of another Scion, it makes me think that our parents are at work behind the scenes, pulling strings for us to meet."

Thomas visibly relaxes and lets out a rueful laugh, "That would make a . . . disappointing amount of sense. I had wondered why my Father had me schedule a week here for negotiation that couldn't last more than a couple hours." He appears to wrestle with something for a moment before blurting out, "For what it's worth, I'm glad our paths have crossed," before turning the brunt of his attention to the new, apparently Chinese (smelling?), arrival.

3 waitresses...10 customers in this tea house... 6 males, 4 female...hmm...2 foreigners

Jing lives a dangerous life, at first by birth and later by choice. He remembered vividly the first time ever when his family was attacked in a Chinese restaurant in Shanghai by the enemies of his gangster father. Evrything seemed perfectly normal, though he noticed the waitors peering frequently at them, he never thought they would later drew their hidden knives against them. He survived that assassination, with a real lesson deeply ingrained in his mind- things are often not what it seems, be ready than sorry. He tends to be abnormally cautious when he enters a scene, developing the habit of conducting quick mental survey of his surroundings. This habit saved his ass on several occasions, and particularly an important one by the virtue of the life he choose to live now.

The two seem to be particularly interested in me...hmm...

As his eyes caught their quick glances, he passes a friend grin, waving his hand a little. He intends to see their responses.

What will they do when they know that I know they are watching?

Raven smiles. "Thank you. I've enjoyed meeitng you, too. I'm glad that I came over to be nosy. So, shall we go join our fellow over there, eat some sushi, and see what brings another child of the gods to this tea house?"

Thief = 2 successes. Brianne wins by a nose!

The thief has no hope. Brianne had too much of a head start on the other Scions, but Fenric makes it close as she just barely ekes him out at the end. The thief goes down into the pavement, his catch flying out of his hand and onto the sidewalk a few inches from him.

Brianne quickly catches the pursesnatcher, putting one knee firmly in his back and grabbing his right arm and painfully twisting it behind his back so he can't move. "Alright there, boyo...not sure why you thought that was a good idea. Feelin' up for explainin' that?"

Raven decides to take the bull by the horns and goes over to join the new Scion to the tea house. On her way over to his table, she catches the attention of the waitress. "I'd like an assortment of your sushi, enough for three, sent over to that table, and put it on my bill. Toss in a bottle of sake, while your at it." Putting a little swing to her hips, she sways over to join Jing at his table. "Hi! How are you? My name is Renna, but my friends call me Raven. My friend over there is Thomas, and we are hoping you will allow us the pleasure of your company for a while. By the way, we're both Scions and we know that you're one, too." She smiles at the shocked look on Jing's face. "I don't mean to startle you, but I have a feeling that something odd is going on to have so many of us in this place at one time, and I don't feel like beating around the bush."

Well, seemed that she wasn't the only one concerned with doing good today. Some occidental girl had beaten her to the punch and had grabbed the thief all CQC like. Impressive. She'd have to find out in person. She jumped down and landed literally feet away from the thief and his captor:

"Hi !"

Fenric hopped back at the new arrival coming from on high. His nostrils flared and his hand twitched, to grab, something or someone nobody knew for sure. He breathed in their scents, becoming more familiar with them.

"You are both very exceptional ladies. And it seems that I wasn't the only one interested in the chase, but it seems I moved too slowly."

What? 3 Scions! In one place at one time...Gotta me kiddin me...

Nobody less a learned mortal in occult and lore, a God, a Titanspawn or a Scion knows the existence of Scions. Whoever they are, it only means one thing--Adventure is coming his way. Jing is please.

Jing gathers his composure, briefly inspect the two and etches a slight smile, "Yeah...this is interesting no matter how it is going to turn out...Let's talk at your table."

"Guess that means you're buyin' drinks then, yeah?" Brianne smirked at the giant, then looked back down at the pursesnatcher. "I can do this all day, boy. Start talkin'."

Raven heads back to the table she was sharing with Thomas and pours herself a shot of sake. "So! Here we are. I personally belive that the odds of so many Scions being here by chance is so slim its not worth considering. My mother gave me the ticket to come here; I never considered why she might be doing it until now. Well, as I said, this is Thomas, and I'm Raven. What's your name, and what's your story?"

Mother...Who's her mother?

"Call me Jing, Scion of Nezha. And reason to why am I here?" Jing stuffs a California maki, dipped with japanese soy sauce and hell lotta of wasabi into his mouth. Fora moment, Jing's eyes widens and draws in a breath, as the green wasabi takes effect,"me and my father No talk much...it's a typical Chinese tradition. Lest it turns out a quarrel. Well, I pretty much do what I want...mostly." Jing paudes to swallow the sushi in his mouth, and continues," Actually, I am here for sight seeing, and perhaps, spawn hunting."

"Um, I think he's just a standard purse snatcher. Lets just go give back the purse to the owner and find an officer to hand him to. I'll go hand back the purse. Don't worry, I won't run with it."

He shrugged with a smile. "I guess I am. Maybe you can hold your liquor as well as you can hunt." He said to the lady. "My name's Fenric. What're your names?" He looked to them both, flashing a smile.

Raven tears into the sushi in front of her as she listens to Jing. After wiping a bit of soy sause off her lip, she says, "I'm a daughter of Morrigan. She hooked up with my da when he was serving in Ireland. The rest is history, as they say. What about you, Thomas? Who's your 'special' parent?"

Chasers: Suddenly, you are approached by a Japanese man in a suit. He seems simple enough, but there's something in his eyes that seems to hide a ferocity like a coiled spring.

"I will take him off your hands for you," he said.

Hum ? A man in a suit, was he a plainclothes officer ?

"Are you a police officer ? Can I see your badge ?"

There were plenty of crooks around. She had heard of these scans with people passing as cops.

Feric looked him over to check for any identifying features that may identify the man as a Tantei, a Detective. Meanwhile he stretched a little bit masking his sniffing the air as if taking a deep breath after a long run. Fenric wanted this man's scent. This man's a predator, I must be ready. He thought to himself. "That was a great run, but I'm with the lay here."
