[Heroes of Our Time] Scenario 1: And So Our Adventure Begins

"I'm a bounty hunter," the man says simply. "I don't need brass."

The runner under your foot is squirming a bit, but it doesn't look like he'll be coming free anytime soon.

Jing breaks into chuckles as he sees tears rolling out from Raven and wonders what else could bring tears to a Scion. He turns to Thomas when Raven post her questions, dips another sushi into the soy sauce and big whip of Wasabi, and shoves it into his mouth, taking another breath, holding his tears from his eyes.

He simply shrugged to the man. "I don't care if you're a bounty hunter or not. The nearest cop station will be happy to deal with this guy and do the paperwork."

Thomas sips his tea and shrugs at the question, "If you mean who sired me, I don't know. But I was adopted by Osiris and he has been a better father than both my mortal caretaker and divine progenitor." He pauses and his mouth turns up in a small smile, "Well, at least when he isn't Leading me around the world on false pretenses, but I gather that's a lot like the Godly 'aloha'. 'Hello, I am going to lead you around like a puppet on a string as a way of testing and greeting you. Welcome to your new world.'" He shakes his head affectionately, as if being led around on strings is somehow preferable to other ways a parent could interfere in his life.

"I must insist. Please, give him to me," the man said. His eyes look at you in turn, discerning what you could want with your prey, and then down at your prey.

Meanwhile, the pursesnatcher is squirming a bit more under your knee, still trying to get free. He's trying his best to get free of you, but right now you're keeping him pinned to the ground with nothing to lever himself with.

Raven downs another shot of sake as she contimplats the two other Scions at the table with her. "Well, any ideas on why Fate would have so many of us in one place at one time? Do either of you know of some Titanspawn shinanigans going on in the area that needs the three of us to put the hurt on? If so, lets get it out in the open and see what we can do about it."

Jing swallows the 8th sushi on the plate, take out his laptop from the sling bag, start-up the web browser and turns the screen to face the two. "There has been some anomalies in Nagasaki. Particularly reports on people attacked by something indescribable." Jing clicks through a couple of news pages to show them and added, "They are all staying in the same hospital. This is where we should start- Nagasaki Hospital"

"That sounds like a good enough place to start. Did anyone drive here, or shall we catch a cab?"

"A cab would be good! I must say I am an awesome racer, but I am not too sure of the directions here. Let me take care of the food and cab." Jing raises his hands put a couple of thousand yens on the table, slips them under the cup, and said in Japanese, "Keep the change for your great attitude!"He then keep his laptop, snaps up from his seat, hands waving towards the entrance and asks,"Shall we?"

A bounty hunter. Koyomi didn't trust these people any further than she could throw them. Ok bad example considering her strength. But she still didn't like them. She had read news about them popping up recently and considered them a sign that the PMC thing was making its way in here too. Now they had maniacs here who thought they were Boba Fett, acting barely better than the thugs they were supposed to aprehend. She didn't really like the tone he took with them. He sounded like he was thinkingf of threatening them. Good luck with that.

"You know what ? I go give this handbag back to the owner who's probably too spooked to approach us by now. Afterwards, we'll go to the police post together. If you want the money for his capture or whatever, I'll be happy to leave it to you. I don't exactly need it."

These words said, the idol singer took the bag and went to deliver it back to its owner. Hopefully, her words would act as a suffisant compromise to the bounty hunter.

Thomas nods, "I certainly have no personal vehicle here. Can't even speak the language," he comments leaving money on the table. "I suppose that should have been my first clue that I wasn't really here for a meeting."

Fenric picked up the thief, locking the man's arms behind his back Fenric held those arms together with one large hand. 'I'm not worried about the money, but the story must be told. It was a great chase after all." His eyes looked back and forth to the ladies for agreement.

Raven tosses a handful of Yen on the table to cover her share of the bill and heads outside. Immediately, a half-dozen birds swoop down and begin chattering away at her, telling wild stories about what they've been doing while she was inside eating sushi. "Enough, little ones. Time for us to go. Into your pendant with you." She smiles at the bemused looks that she's getting from Jing and Tomas. "I like birds, and they like me. A gift from Mother." Once all her feathered friends are safely ensconced in the talisman, she turns and points. "There is a taxi stand at the hotel right next door. We can catch a cab there and make our way to the hospital."

"Hey...two of you are too generous. I have already paid more than enough for few days of work. Keep the money, if you like, donate them to the needy." Jing grabs the yen and pass them back to Thomas and Raven. He then turns to Raven and remarks," I believe we have some thing in common, we both loves the sky..." Without further explanation, he hops into the front seat of the cab, and languidly tells the driver their destination,"Nagasaki Hospital"

Thomas raises his eyebrows at the sight of the birds fluttering around Raven until he recalls the nature of his company. It should really be no surprise that a Scion could so easily communicate with avians and yet it had still taken him aback. Conversing in a tea house made it easy to forget that many of his kin had more overt talents than he.

As these thoughts rumble around his head and the taxi arrives, he absently opens and holds the rear door for Raven and then gets in behind her. As he surfaces from his ruminations he casts a pointed look at their driver before turning to Jing and Raven, "When we arrive, I should like to make sure we are on the same page before we speak to the doctors. It won't help to give them repeated or conflicting information." If he was lucky both of them would get the hint, if not it probably wouldn't make much difference. But it was planning and preparation that got him through life so far and Thomas felt no need to trip over his new allies' in any arena, social or physical.

Best to be open about their talents and know how to work together before some Titan's pet attacked them rather than try to figure it out on the fly. Of course since he had lacked the foresight to bring this up before they got their cab it would have to wait until they didn't have to talk around their driver, unless one of his friends had some way of shielding their words.

Raven thanks Thomas for the coursey of holding the door for her as she climbs in. As they drive, she looks out the window as the city slides past. "I would think that the people we would need to talk to is the paitents, not the doctors. If they were attacked by some kind of Titanspawn, do you think that they would tell the world about it and be labled as a nut?" She shakes her head. "I wouldn't, if I were in their shoes. Saving face is a huge thing in Japan. Having the shame of being thought to be a liar or just insane would go a long way to keep them quiet."

Thomas winces and looks at the driver, certain that the man would at least take note of their strange conversation. Then realized that the driver's English probably wasn't good enough to follow such an odd line of discussion. Somewhat bashfully he clarifies, "I had meant to subtly request time to discuss our respective abilities before we went into the hospital. I . . . forgot for a moment that the language barrier works both ways." The sheepish hint of a smile decorates his lips as he declares his talents first, "My talents lie more in the social arena than combat, for all the good that does me here. If we can find someone who speaks a language I do, I could turn on the charm and do a fair bit. Otherwise . . ." He shrugs, "I suppose I could frighten someone with a mean look. Not much more than that.

"And we do encounter a Titanspawn, I can call my Guard to fight for me and make some small use of my blade, if I can get it out here in time to make a difference." He punctuates this last by hefting his attache case. Looking in turn to Raven and Jing, he says, "But if I am going to coordinate with you and plan for what may come, I should like to know what talents each of you possess."

Thomas is making sense. I suppose it can't hurt for me to reveal some secrets, especially if we're going to be working together. "I'm more of an action junkie, trained in both melee combat and ranged fighting. I'm good in a fight, and I'm a lot stronger than I look. Plus, I heal quickly, making me a hard target to kill, if I ever get hit at all. I did leave my katana at the hotel, but I like to rely upon my trusty pistol more, keeping me at a distance from whateve Titanspawn that I'm trying to take down. My birds make a good set of spies in the sky, since most people don't pay attention to a few birds sitting on a telephone line. What about you, Jing? What do you bring to the party?"

Jing turns his head around from the front seat,"Hey, it is unsafe to presume the cab driver who is a Japanese doesn't understand English!" Jing gives the cab driver a grin and asks," Do you understand me? " The driver just gives a silly smile and a nod,"So...so" Jing turns back and said," Well... I guess not much...And Raven we are very much alike."

Jing, Raven, Thomas: The trip to the hospital is relatively quiet. You do see a band playing in a local park, but that's about it. The taxi driver, however, has taken a rather distinct interest in your conversation, although what his reaction to this talk of Titanspawn and abilities is somewhat veiled.

When Raven and Jing tell Thomas of their talents a part of his mind sets into motion developing possible tactics and contingencies that would likely never come up, but can't hurt to have on hand just in case. Other parts of his attention look to his surroundings, listen and talk with his companions, and- hello. Seems their driver wasn't as ignorant as he seemed to be.

On the one hand, if he understood all they were saying, he could do a lot of damage even if he wasn't in bed with their quarry. On the other, if he understood them well enough to pose any kind of risk, he understood them well enough for Thomas to talk to.

As casually as if he was talking about the weather, Thomas turns to their driver (catching his eye as best he can in the rear-view mirror) and asks, "And what do you think are chances are, sir? Don't be shy, you clearly have an interest, and I would love to hear your opinion." A hint of menace enters his voice at the end of the sentence. With any luck, that will get a reaction I can read something from.

Attempting to get both a readable reaction from the driver and possibly startle an admission of whatever his interest is out of him. Both of which gain an extra success from Epic Attributes.[/OOC]

The Chasers: Fenric can't make neither heads or tails of the man's intentions, but Brianne can.

Nice roll. You discern the man is lying about being a bounty hunter, and that he suspects the man of some other wrongdoing beyond that of snatching some random woman's purse. Whatever he wants him for, however, is a mystery.

The Passengers: "Oh, it's nothing, really," the man says, trying to wave it off. "I just sometimes think that there are other creatures in this city, maybe even in Japan proper, that have sort of wormed their way in somehow. My wife thinks I'm crazy, but..."

The man is now rather unnerved, mostly due to your veiled threat. You do catch flickers of his eyes travelling towards the three of you, and he's certainly knows more than he's letting on about the situation at hand.
