Futuristic ℋ℮їґṧ: SIGMA (Sci-Fi/Powers/Interstellar Warfare RP)

"On it, Nexus I'm Oscar Mike and coming in hot." I said, rising and grabbing my rifle as I rushed off toward where Morrison and his team was, rushing towards the front and putting away my rifle for my M1911 and deploying my shield so they can press up.

Joachim

I took cover behind the broken wing, the crystal bolts tearing through the thin alloy all around me. A shot whizzed past me, and the sound of a Smierc sniper screeching from extreme pain, and the sizzling of fire could also be heard. That must be our fiery sniper girl, Katherine. I peek out and release half a magazine worth of fire at the enemy strongpoint, to cover Katherine's advance to the barricade, as she puts her rifle up in a stable position.

Miller makes a move, using her 'modernized' M1911, with her IRESS up, followed closely by Dav, who is utilizing Miller's shield, peeking out slightly and firing in short, controlled bursts, very close to her ears. I'd imagine that wouldn't be too good for her afterwards.

Danny couldn't follow me to my position, due to the insane amount of fire that came my way after I came into view. And also because the wing was only big enough for one person. Instead, he's firing madly out from the dropship's wreck, trying to cover my advance further up.

Couldn't miss an opportunity like that.

I sprung out of my cover, making a mad dash for my next piece of cover, the fuselage of a Smierc fighter spacecraft that was undergoing repairs. There is already a sizeable struggle there, as a sickening amount of dead Sabre Corps bodies lie around it, mixed in with the Smierc Knights' bodies. Another 2 Smierc troopers advanced to the spacecraft, but I summarily mowed them down with my LMG from the hip as I ran, the crystal bolts scraping my right hand as it held the gun firm.

I stuck my back to the fuselage, as the crystal bolts ricocheted off the hard carapace. I charge my Legio Ferrum, as I am in range. I bring up everyone else on my comms piece, activated automatically by my generous AI. "I'm gonna do some flame work, occupy those Smierc shooters, Miller and Dav, you move up, toss grenades, the rest move up as well. Carli, when you're done fixing up, rejoin us!"

I then peeked out, my left glove removed temporarily as it glowed a bright red, with a faint blue in the middle, before letting out a condensed stream of something resembling magma mixed with napalm, forcing the Smierc troopers stationed behind the overturned ship hull, as well as a few more stragglers who were moving up to my own position, to duck into cover with panic. Some failed to maneuver out of the torrent of fire in time, and were engulfed in a scorching death.

Katherine

I looked at Joa expectantly to see what kind of fire power he was packing for a cold day, in time to see a stream of fire shoot from his left hand. "I'm impressed." I said, looking at my hand.

A stray bolt shot through my low IRESS, catching my right leg, tearing out a thick strip of flesh out mixed with bits and pieces of KAISYS Alpha fragments. I yelped in surprise, before groaning in pain from what adrenaline couldn't hide from me. A red haze was starting to flood my vision as I tucked my bleeding leg behind the barricade, singeing the open wound slightly to stop the bleeding with a few puffs of fiery breath before wrapping my scarf around it.

A familiar male voice, probably my brother, heavy with alarm and concern pierced through my pain induced fog, "Katherine? You still there? Please don't overdo things."

"Yea. I got hit. Just a scratch," I said through the comms between breaths. "I think I'll be fine. It's going to~" A ripple of pain cut my sentence short. "It's going to scar for a while."

Daelen

Jolly good work done by my friend, nothing like some good fireworks. But there was no time for admiring his masterpiece, as the Smierc kept pouring in more troops, regulars and Mortus alike. They were really putting in some effort separating us from Morrison and his boys. Damn good plan, one must admit. Wave after wave of Smierc came at us, and I began wondering how many did this ship carry. We mowed them down good, but they kept coming. We had to get to Morrison's, the sooner the better. So we kept on pushing, despite being severely outnumbered. And we actually got somewhere, as Miller rushed front with her shield as our spear tip, effectively breaking through lines of Smierc defenders.

Piles of corpses were utilised as effective cover for both sides as the fighting raged on. The death toll was rising seemingly non-stop. Mortus troopers arrived and delayed our push for Morrison's squad, as they mowed down our boys with ease. Obviously, it was hard to fight something of your level. I dashed towards our right flank, narrowly dodging a volley of bolts as I dived behind a pile of corpses. A sergeant joined me. He stood up to fire his machine gun, but the suppressive fire was cut short. The sergeant's body fell heavily, his head deformed with broken pieces of his helmet was mixed with his blood and flesh. These Mortus lads know how to aim, I'd give them that. They didn't spray bolts all over the place like the regular brutes. I rushed forward, zig-zag, and jumped into cover behind a Smierc fighter. I was right in front of a Smierc MG nest. I assumed they didn't see me, I hoped. There, I spotted Kath, struggling with her leg. Well fortunately, it was her leg.

"Carley, bring that medkit up here when you're done with grandpa. Give Kath a hand." - I spoke into comms, before pulling the pin off a grenade on my belt and tossed the whole belt into that MG nest. There was quite a boom, and a lot of shrapnel. Crystal shards, the MG nest's munition boxes, I assumed. Another wave of regular brutes were charging at us with their arm-blades, supported by some sort of armoured vehicle. Without thinking, I planted some charges on a large piece of debris and set them to set off on impact.

"OUT OF THE WAY!" - I yelled, startling some handful soldiers going for a push in front of me, forcing them to duck, before I lifted the large debris with my hands and threw it towards the vehicle, shaking it. The charges set off, and a handful of Smierc were completed ignited by the explosion, or killed by the rubble and debris. I screamed in excitement as I pushed the Sabre Corp soldiers aside and rushed towards the surviving Smierc while hip-spraying my Dzida.

I held firm as reinforcements came, someone firing shots over my shoulder like I wasn't even there. I didn't move, though, I really couldn't. I moved and our defense was mire permeable than is already is. I saw a spike on the channel though I couldn't hear what was being said from my ringing ears. I shook my head and took aim, firing a shot at one of the last few brutes on my end. "Shield's dropping, get to cover!" I shouted, a lot louder than I really needed to, but I could barely hear myself either way. I dispersed the shield, sending the shield blasting down the hall and knocking some poor Mortus down the rest of the hall and into a wall full force.

I ran back to Katherine and slid down next to her. "Are you ok?" I shouted, that ringing wouldn't fucking stop, I think my hearing is shot for now. "You're gonna have to speak up, some fuck was shooting right next to my head." I added on, still pretty loud despite my efforts to quiet down. Another explosion rocked the hangar and I had to steady myself on the ground. The ringing was now starting to dissipate a small bit, but it was still loud and heavy in my ears, and it was still hard for me to make out any conversation.

(yea I'm gonna drop out. Someone message me when there is free time. Or a better place for me to insert my character.)

(In that case, you can break into the hangar, as it is a bit hectic for the Smierc Collective. Several RPers are currently engaged in battle in the hangar, and you should be able to interact with them)

(Alright. Will do)
John listened to the radio chatter, a hanger is being boarded in a nearby Smierc ship. He decided he would make some more money today.
He drove the escape pod towards the ship being boarded. Aiming to the hanger doors. Slowing down, entering the hanger. The pod crashing and rolling stopping on the very far left of the hanger. Only being stopped by another ship.
John kicked the hatch open as soon as it stopped and grabbing a grenade and preparing to throw it in. The direction of gunfire.

As Fireteam Nexus began to clear the hallway leading to the enemy hyperspace generator, I slowly noticed the growing lack of Mortus Troopers trying to defend the location. In fact, for the past few meters of battlefield space, there was only a single team of Mortus Troopers, mostly from the Knight class, trying to vaguely defend the area from our onslaught. I find that a bit nerve-wracking, as I led the rest of the Fireteam down the increasingly foreboding hallway.

"Sergeant Amis, get the new guys into that corner. Let me and Corporal Ingris scout out ahead. Our AIs should be able to coordinate should the situation get hairy."
"Roger that. We'll standby and get the perimeter secure."

I led Ingris down the darkened portion of the hallway, trying to make out any enemy units through our KAISYS armor's thermal scopes. Even so, we ended up finding nothing of substance, which did not help with my sense of apprehension about trying to destroy the hyperspace generator alone.

"Captain, are you sure about proceeding? This place is giving me the creeps..."
"Ingris, I know what you're thinking. But we do have a mission to do..."

Despite the obvious dangers, I decided that the mission still had priority, as a normal Captain should in these situations. I signaled Sergeant Amis to lead the new guys over here to start the trek down into the generator room proper.

That's when the attack started.

All of a sudden, the entire hallway became engulfed in pitch darkness, forcing us all to switch to our thermal scopes to try and get a hold of our selves. Out of the walls themselves, several strange creatures descended on Fireteam Nexus. These creatures resembled plague-infested slimes, all with haunting skull-like faces dotted with creepily glowing eyes.

That did not help, as the new members all began to scream in sheer panic and fear and fired towards the incoming creatures blindly, without any sense of discipline.

"THIS IS FIRETEAM NEXUS! WE'RE BEING AMBUSHED BY AN UNKNOWN ENEMY. I REPEAT, WE ARE UNDER ATTACK BY AN UNKNOWN ENEMY, OVER!!!", I yelled out in the emergency frequency.

Katherine

"Daelen. I'm. fine." I whined with the indignation of a teenager with added choppiness while I try to suppress another groan through clenched teeth at a fresh wave of pain rippling through my leg, though it was considerably less than before.

I must have some sort of 'healing factor' going for me because when Carlison came to check it out, it was now a small shallow cut, puffy and slightly dark from the singe. The edges were scarred giving proof of the wound, but overall fine. "See? It's almost like it wasn't there."

I peeked up from the barricade, still holding my rifle up for taking revenge, setting off the last enemy sniper's magazine and then spreading purple tinted flames, its anger mirroring my own, to his body, ripping off each of his limbs with a shot and then a shot through the center of his neck, leaving him to die a horrible death.

More enemies were coming by the hundreds, with knifes and shotguns, though that didn't seem to bother Daelen, doing a warcry as he shoves his way through the pack of allies to finish off an enemy squad. Limbs and chunks of charred flesh flew towards and bounced off harmlessly of the barricade.

"Adrian? You think they have some sort of cloning machine? I don't think their ship can hold this much. At least without using their~ Oh shit."

A sphere-like pod crashed off in the starboard side of the hangar according to my maps, drowning out inaudible screaming in the background, watching as a man kick open the door, clutching a live grenade.

The only part I heard from the channel was, "~UNDER ATTACK BY AN UNKNOWN ENEMY, OVER!!!" I looked at Ashley and then Joachim silently asking for orders.

I ducked my head as the pod came crashing through, then relaxing as someone came out that was human, but tensed once more as I caught sight of the grenade. My hearing had returned enough to hear Adrian's call for assistance, albeit it being muffled. "Kath, round up some of our boys and go help Nexus, I'll deal with the newcomer and be with you as soon as I can." I had said, quieter because I was forcing myself to be. I popped up, aimed at the man with handgun, then moved around the barrier to get a better look at him. "Safely dump the grenade and put your hands where I can see them, now!" I shouted, keeping my gun raised. After recent events I was worried of another Michael, and this guy could very eaisly be one of them.

As I continued the (literal) firing, a sphere-like pod crashed into the hangar, not far from me. As I finish a burst of fire that incinerates a Berserker as its Bio-Field fails, with its machine gun discharging crystal bolts all over the place, catching a fellow Smierc Knight in its line of fire, I turn to look at the figure that stepped out of the pod. Seems to be a Smierc escape pod.

I could barely make out Miller approaching the man, yelling something about dropping grenades and hands where she can see them. I squint further, as crystal bolts began pouring at me again. He doesn't look like a bad guy. My AI came to my aid, quickly bringing up his profile in the Lone Wolf archives. My AI opens the comms, and I talk to Miller.

"Hold your fire, that's a friendly Lone Wolf. He's on our side... for this battle." I then switched to the man, who has been identified as John. "John, I need you to provide cover fire for us. We're going to break them soon."

I look to Katherine, who is shooting glances at Miller and then to me, probably asking for orders. I get the hint, as another dropship crashes into the hangar, conveniently crushing half of the Smierc defense lines, and clearing a door. The pilot is still semi-awake, but is gunned down by a Berserker, who stood on the thing and fired directly into the cockpit.

Angered, I summon a Claymore, partially powered by a smoldering fire next to me, and throw it with my might. The Berserker turned around, just in time to get impaled by a flaming sword lodging itself into the thing's torso. Its Bio-Field gives way, and it chokes in pain, before being cut down by fire from both Parkins and I.

John (our Fireteam's John, not grenade holding John), reports in. He had "procured" a new battery pack from a fellow Sabre Corps soldier, who is sadly KIA. His IRESS is at half capacity, and he can fight decently now. I tell him to lay down covering fire for Danny, and John does so almost immediately. The kid has dedication. Gotta admire that.

Danny takes refuge in a mound of bodies. Well, I guess a "mound" is an exaggeration. A pile of 3 dead Sabre Corps members, strewn across each other, with 2 Mortus Knight corpses lying on top of them, and a Dziki-wearer slumped over on his knees, serving as just enough cover for Danny, laying prone, hoping that he doesn't add himself to the bunch. He sticks his assault rifle through the small gap between the Dziki corpse's legs, and begins firing in bursts, making for a morbidly funny sight. I had time for a slight smirk, with a quick exhale from my nose, before opening up comms.

I heard a small broadcast from Adrian, something about an unknown enemy engaging him. That's bad news. I broadcast to everyone. "Alright, people, we can do this! Nexus is in trouble, we have to link up with 'em! Dav and I will provide fire support," I smirk at the unintentional pun, seeing as I just torched about 5 guys with my left hand's fire torrent, "... you guys push up! Kath, John, provide accurate fire, take out targets of opportunity, while the rest of you guys, push up!"

I prove my point, as I let loose a suppressing burst downrange.

"Gotcha. Running low on ammunition, but there's a lot around here. As well as here too." Carl runs towards the stern to tend to another injured squadmate in excruciating pain, while I flicked my hand towards a distant Smierc dropship, concentrating my power until spontaneously combusting it and spraying pieces of sharp, high velocity alloy shredding through unarmored Smierc forces.

"Might have to get into a little bit of slashing at this rate." I could hear someone trying desperately to sneak towards me. Adrenaline shot through my veins again, as I quickly unsheathed, running the Smierc's face through, before sheathing again. "Nice try, but no dice."

Aliens yell in a gibberish of words that I don't understand, and several of them come after me. I guess I was that high a risk. A Hunter came rushing up to my face, arm blade drawn, attempting to thrust. I instinctly ducked, right as a shot rang out behind my back, and the Hunter let out a high pitched screech as it fell to the ground, covering me with black goop. Probably its fluids. Ewww.

I picked up the fallen Hunter's pistol, emptying a magazine into a Knight coming in with a shotgun. The pellets crashed through its armor, leaving more black goop spilling out through the quarter centimeter wounds. It let out a similar shriek, though much lower in pitch, cutting it short by slashing him across its neck. The rest of his 'blood' spilled out across the floor, leaving me in much more of a mess.

I threw myself at another barricade further up, transferring my rifle into my waiting hands, before standing up, firing bolt after bolt into the crowd of Smierc coming forward. Seeing their comrades heads being blown to a pulp, they headed for cover, before returning fire, at me specifically, with no one else firing at the others. Strange.

I lowered my handgun and moved back behind the barrier and relaxed. "Copy that. With that out of the way, Nexus, I'm on my way with a team." I told them, then stood up. "Corporal Jacobs! Acting-Sergeant Jackson! Katherine! Fall in on me!" I shouted, and Jacobs and Jackson ran up next to me. "Captain, I thought I was Sergeant because Davids died, Ma'am." He asked. "Well Davids was an acting-sergeant as well, and so are you since Parkins is waiting for clearance, no more questions, bitch at me when this over!" I said. I then motioned for the two to follow me to where Nexus was at, only to find it pitch black.

"Switch to thermal..." I said quietly, my hud lighting up with several heat signatures that were friendly, and several more that weren't. My A.I. adjusted the signatures to differentiate friend and foe. "Team have your A.I.'s identify friendlies and open fire on any foreign signature!" I order, proceeding to fire my sidearm at the hostiles.

Katherine

"Err, Ashley, I still have a whole squad after me." Bolts continued to fly through the air over my head. "Sending my drone out to tactically map out the rest of this ship." I slid the briefcase towards the hangar door, remotely powering it out and swapping to space mode, using its tiny thrusters to position itself to the midsection of the ship.

I continued firing my rifle, picking off key targets marked on my map, before advancing for the next barricade. I felt a cold chill run through my blood, giving me a sense of something bad was about to happen. I reloaded, dropping an expended mag, shoving a new mag into the receiver, "Joa, remind me to find a way to belt feed this rifle." I said, remembering our mod talk.

I launched myself over the barricade, dashing my way for the poorly lit hallways, footsteps following after me as I make a sharp turn for a pitch black hall. My vision focused and I could see some sort of floating skull, with strange glowing eyes. Moments later, I can see several members of FT Nexus, and then several members of FT Omaha. I keep my voice down, careful not to spook the crap out of Nexus and get shot up with bolts. "Okay guys, I'm here. Look for my eyes."

My brother always told me that the red glow was soft in nature, and somewhat soothing at times. I really hope they don't shoot at me though.

John tossed the grenade in the direction
the majority of crystals we're coming from. "I'd focus on the smierc. Because I can tell you that I'm being paid to help you not die!" He says reaching into the pod and pulling out his standard issue Halo rifle. Heavily modified and painted red, he loads it up and starts firing the direction of the Smierc
He quickly takes a crystal to the forearm, he yells out in pain and yanks the crystal out.
"You lot really fucking hit the hive didn't you! Can't get more than 4 shots off before I end up like a voodoo d-" John is interrupted by a high powered crystal shot. Going right through the pod and hitting him in the chest piece. It lodged the crystal right into the thick plate "Do you people even have a plan!!!"
