Fantasy Hawthorne Academy

Leona trailed after her roommate, pulling her hood up in a weak attempt to somewhat hide. She followed her over to one of the student council members and listened quietly as she asked about Orientation, standing a couple feet behind her and trying to stay out of everyone's way. The first day of school, no matter where the school is, is always so loud and busy. People kept bumping into to Leo and pushing her out of the way, not stopping to so much as glance at her, let alone apologize for running into her. Not that she expected them to, of course. They were all in a hurry to get to their dorms and to Orientation, or wherever else they may need to go.
Lyra, letting go of Maria's hand, turned around to face someone asking for directions. Pointing towards the North Dormitories, she explained, "If you head down that way for about ten minutes, you'll walk straight into the Girls' Dorms!"
Her pointing hand then dropped down to shake the girl's.

"My name is Lyra, Student Body President. If you have any questions..."

Lyra's eyes sparkled as she tapped a finger on the arm band.

"...just look for someone with the arm band!"

Feeling eyes on her, Lyra turned back towards where Johnathon was standing, expecting that he probably left while she was talking to the other students.

Well, he probably had to go find his dorm--

Freezing mid-thought, she was shocked to see him, still standing there. Looking at her. Why? Did he not understand her directions? Was he too embarrassed to ask?

Well, he'd be a lot more embarrassed if she flat out asked him if he was lost...

She'd wait for him to ask her.

Turning back towards Nichole, Lyra finished her greeting with, "Welcome to Hawthorne. I'm in your dorm, room D, if you ever need me."
Lyra's glance told John he had stood where he was long enough. Somehow though, it was reassuring. He'd head towards his dorm for now, then the orientation, then classes. At least, that was the schedule he had received for the day. "Mm, Śpiesz się powoli," he muttered, brushing a strand of hair from his face.

Hands in pockets, John took a few steps forward, turned to regard Lyra one last time, and the girl beside her, Veronica. "A pleasure," he said, and smiled a little wryly at Veronica. Odd words for him to say, for people really weren't his forte, but this could perhaps be a new beginning. At this thought, however, he chuckled, and recalled the last time he had thought so foolishly. No, never again, he vowed, gazing at the towering school before him, edging closer with every step. Lyra may or may not have still been on his mind.

Valentina kept an eye on Leo, seeing as she was already uncomfortable from the chaos and students running everywhere. People repeatedly bumped into Leo, not bothering to say 'Excuse me' or even apologize. Her fists clenched suddenly, gritting her teeth angrily as she watched another student bump into Leo. A jaguar-like loud growl escaped Valentina's lips, startling the person who had bumped into Leo, and a few others. Almost immediately, the person apologized to Leo, and wandered off quickly.

Grinning with satisfaction, Valentina flashed Leo a smile before turning back to the girl with silver eyes.

Lyra pulled her gaze away from Shinji and Calista, snapping out of her thoughts about how cute Calista would look in a French Maid cosplay. She delicately waved towards Johnathon, saying, "The pleasure was ours!"

Going back to her fangirlish thoughts, Lyra grinned. Her fantasy didn't last long. She heard a female voice, asking what time orientation was starting. After she turned towards the girl, she had to strain to keep her jaw from dropping.

Calista was adorable, but this girl was STRIKING! Obviously, Lyra needed her, too.

"Orientation begins in about twenty minutes." the President smiled politely, using every last ounce of her willpower to look down at her watch and not stare at the girl or start yakking her ear off about how PERFECT she would be for the lead in the play she was writing!

"Thanks for reminding me, actually, I have to get ready to--"

She was cut off by a...growl. She raised her eyebrows at Valentina, about to ask what that was all about, when she noticed the incredibly adorable girl with her.

She was just as cute as Calista! Lyra could dress them both up in matching outfits! They would be the star attraction!

But she had to be patient. Shaking each of the girl's hands, Lyra introduced herself.

"I'm Lyra Connerson, Student Body President. And you are?" she smiled.

((I love how Lyra is building up her drama club in her head
xD )

Valentina saw the almost mesmerized look in the girl's eyes as she turned towards her, and she grinned sheepishly as a light red blush appeared on her cheeks. Obviously, the girl had heard the growl too, and her eyebrow rose in question. Trying not to show her embarrassment, Valentina cleared her throat and pretended she had never growled in the first place.

"Thank you! I'm Valentina Locke. It's nice to meet you," She chimed, shaking Lyra's hand in return with a now happy look on her face. She stepped a few paces away so Leo could introduce herself. Valentina took note of Lyra's energy and confidence towards everything. She had never seen someone so... Happy about everything. She had to admit, she already liked the girl and she barely knew her yet.

Seamus had awoken late with the heat of the rising sun warming his skin. Everything felt smooth and peaceful along with the songs of the birds but was then reminded of what he had been excited about ever since he had received the letter. Personally created so he may be able to read it, with this sudden realization he hopped onto his feet feeling for his cane and top hat before beginning towards the destination.

After continuously getting lost he soon found the building after following the loud voices of different teens voices which littered the air. Seamus's cane tapped both beside and I front of him as he stepped forward anxious for how he'd survive this year.

Shaking slightly, the redhead nodded to the girl that introduced herself as the Student Body President. "Um... Hi... I'm Leona... Leo... Hi...?" She murmured, slightly terrified from being surrounded by all these loud people that kept pushing her around. Speaking of which... She reached out and gently poked Valentina's hand to get her attention and offered a small smile in thanks for earlier.

Veronica spotted some teachers heading the way to the main building as it got closer in time for orientation. " Hmm. Lyra, you see the teachers? I wonder if that means they are starting soon. We should head inside". As Veronica started to head that way, she noticed a peculiar boy with a top hat and cane. She usually did not trust men and knew that she could not trust anyone she hasn't met before....but...His outfit. It's so... No veronica. Look away. Do not say. anything. She kept walking but could not avert her eyes. Such texture. The slight lace on the arms. And that CANE. Veronica walked over to the boy. "Excuse me, forgive me for the intrusion. I am your vice president Veronica Elizabeth McCarter." Then without hesitation she displayed a fondness for his outfit. "I think I have fallen in love with you.....r outfit!!!" She said awkwardly. Since she was not at all that tall, she bent down to inspect the cane. "Is this victorian style?" She then gasped in amazement. "Pure OAK".

Seamus was shocked by the sudden voice token back silently but ended up chuckling instead. Attempting to place the girls voice he turned in her direction,

"Seamus O'hare." He introduced then was surprised at her sudden shower of compliments, and smiled,

"Thank you, and yes it is." He lifted his cane feeling it's smooth surface.

"You must be Geno, right? Well, I'm interested to see how we get along." He said this with a very straight face. He didn't say they were going to have a good time or that he was looking forward to rooming with him, as that would be a lie since he knew nothing about him.

Mars pointed in the direction the orientation would be held. "Right over there. It isn't for a while, though, so if you haven't you should go drop off your stuff." He looked the boy over, noticing he had nothing on him. "I guess you've already done that, so you have some time to do whatever. Well, Do you have any more questions?" He noticed the boy push up his glasses slightly, probably to hide his eyes. 'We're going to be room mates, so I can talk to him about that later.' He thought that Geno probably was self conscious about his eyes, or they were his actual power. Either way, it wasn't necessary to discuss that now.

Lyra smiled warmly at Leona and Valentina, saying "It's very nice to meet you both!"

Lyra was about to answer Veronica as she spoke, but the Vice President had already hopped off to gush over a boy's fashion choices. She smiled slightly and shook her head, turning her attention back to the girls.

Taking notice of the Leona's shyness, Lyra couldn't help but smile. Her smile soon faded when she noticed people carelessly brushing passed her like she wasn't even there. Rolling her eyes, Lyra said, "Most of these people have absolutely no manners. Don't worry, I doubt they'll be that way for long."

Looking at Valentina again, Lyra said, "It's just pure chaos today...most of them are just stressed and tired..."

Glancing back down at her clock, Lyra gasped.

"Oh my goodness, is it that late already?! We have to go--uh, Orientation speaking and whatnot! I'll see you both there!"

Lyra sprinted off, realized she forgot Veronica, boomeranged back, grabbed the Vice President's collar, quickly said to Professor Crysta as Lyra passed her, "Good morning, Professor!", and then bolted off.

There was another loud tone that echoed throughout the campus, signalling everyone to stop talking and listen.

"Attention all students!"

It was the same strong voice that had alerted you about two hours ago about Orientation.

"Orientation begins in Five Minutes! Please make your way over to the main hall and take a seat. The doors will close at precisely 11:00 a.m. If you are not inside by that time, you will wait outside and listen. Thank you."

There was another loud tone, and the crowds of students immediately started to move in the same direction towards the main hall.

The next five minutes was even more chaotic than the passed few hours. People trying to cram through the doors of the Main Hall all at once, teenagers were arguing over who would sit in what seat, girls flocked together and clogged up the aisles...

It. Was. Chaos.

By the time the doors finally closed, most of the students had made it into the main hall in one piece...only one was sent to the infirmary due to minor injuries!

On the right side of the stage stood all of the teachers.

Xavier Caige, the 25 year old heart-throb who had the ability to manipulate heat.

Giovio Eriwind, the calm healer who gives off a peaceful aura.

Liam DiFranco, the easily excited genius who takes his work very seriously.

Crysta Chime, the beautiful but blind Focus Master.

...and, of course, Headmistress Kinya Weatherstone, the toxic woman.

On the left side of the stage were the four members of the Student Government. President Lyra Connerson, Vice President Veronica Elizabeth McCarter, Secretary Blake Jones, and Treasurer Mars Porter.

Headmistress Weather stone stepped forward, grabbing the microphone from it's stand, and began speaking.

"Welcome to Hawthorne!" she said, her voice making the one that had been yelling over the speaker earlier. Her voice was slightly muffled due to the gas mask on her face, though her words were perfectly understandable. "Thank you all for coming today, for it will be one of the most important days of this school year."

She took a few steps across the stage and continued talking.

"If you read your schedules, today is going to be very busy, but don't fret. Tomorrow will be much easier. I don't have much to say except that I hope you all do well, and I do not expect any trouble...but just because I do not expect it does not mean it won't happen."

There was a small laugh from the audience, and after she put the microphone back, she walked off stage and out the side door. Kinya Weatherstone was never comfortable with crowded places...but that didn't matter.

All of the teachers stepped up, introducing themselves one by one. (For information on the teachers, go to the Roleplay Overview and view the spoiler at the bottom!)

After the teachers finished, the floor was handed over to the Student Council.

Veronica looked out to the crowd with a grin. It was time. She looked back at Lyra, who was standing near her. Veronica gave her a thumbs up and a wink, then turned back to the crowd and sighed. The microphone was a bit tall. It was hard to reach for her. She grabbed a small stepstool from under the podium and stood on it. A few giggles came from the audience. "Hello fellow students of the beautiful Hawthorne academy. I am your vice-president. Therefore, I will serve all my duties to my president and help her as she guides as a leader for this school council. I will serve my duties to you all, to treat my fellow students with respect and to give discipline to those who would take advantage of our wonderful school. I now turn the mic over to our Beautiful, and charismatic president, Lyra Connerson!"

Veronica then stepped down, taking the stepstool with her and making way for Lyra.

Lyra stepped forward, smiling at Veronica as she did. The audience broke into applause, which made Lyra silently mouth, "Oh stop, you!"

She looked over the students, waiting for them to quiet down. Once they did, she began.

"Thank you for that spirited welcome!" Lyra grinned, glancing back at Veronica and giggling. Taking the microphone from its stand, the President began walking across the stage.

"I am often asked why I wanted to run for Student Body President, and I've not come up with a suitable answer except to say that I wanted to make a difference...but I'm not here to talk about me. I'm here to tell you what you should be expecting here at Hawthorne."

Lyra stopped walking, and switched the microphone between her hands.

"I can promise you that your time at Hawthorne will either be the worst time in your life, or the best time in your life. There is no in between. You can decide whether to be happy or not. You can decided whether you want to make friends or not. YOU decide whether you want to succeed or not...overall...you decide."

Lyra made her way back across the stage, finishing with, "So how about you decide to make this year a good one!"

There was a thunderous applause, and just like that, the First Part of Orientation was over and students were shuffled off to the Dining Hall for Lunch.

((The First Part of Orientation is in one big post because I wanted this to be as simple and clean as possible
:D Credit goes to Sunasa for writing all of Veronica's actions!))

Seamus felt a hand make contact with his cheek and went stiff, the girl who had been speaking with him before seemed as if she wouldn't do something so touchy.

"Hello...." He murmured out uncomfortably when his name was spoken aloud by a strange women he knew nothing of. About to question who the women was and why she continued to clasp his cheek he was then cut off when she spoke to the girl from earlier. Learning her name was Veronica he still didn't relax, even as his hand was gripped and was dragged to the orientation. A large event which he listened to intently.

(Retroactively speaking)

"Aye, that's me." He said with a sigh. "I'm sure we'll get along somehow, you don't seem sporadic." He looked where he pointed. "Thanks, I don't feel like talking to anyone right now, so I'll just wait there. I suppose you should know that much about me." He didn't wait for an answer and quickly slithered through the crowd. He was one of the few first ones in the hall. People were going to mass here eventually, and he didn't look forward to it, but he enjoyed the quiet, as only a handful students and the occasional teacher went through the hall. He sat down on the closest seat, and looked at his watch. One hour until the orientation.

He woke with a jolt when the loud students barged through the door. His shades slid off of his face and broke on the floor, and he loudly exclaimed "****" before stomping on the remains. One girl in particular was incredibly loud, laughing and shouting to her friends as she made her way to a seat. He gave her the coldest look he could, and managed to shut her up. The small victory made him cheer up, even though he just broke the shades. He was used to getting shunned for his eyes, but maybe he'd fit right in around these people. Still though, he felt a bit bare, and covered his face by bringing up the hood of his jacket.

The orientation was nothing more than he expected, a bit of information about this and that, and some unimpressive motivational speeches. Maybe they were motivational, he wouldn't know, as he stopped listening as soon as he sensed a speech was coming. He stayed in the hall for a while after everyone left, to enjoy the quiet. He'd go to the cafeteria later, when most people were done. Maybe he wouldn't have to deal with someone like that girl again.

Emma had actually managed to follow the crowd. But what she had to do was stand in the back of the Main hall so she was able to peek from her blindfold and look at all the people. Especially the teachers she was able to get a glimpse of. Just as orientation ended, she listened to the shuffles and the footsteps of everyone heading to the Dining hall. But Emma did not dare move untill everyone was out. Thats when she made her way out but this caused her to be lost since everyone in that specific hall was gone. "...Just my luck."

Killua didn't attend the orientation of course, to many people.. He assumed it was just saying have a great year yada yada. So instead killua ran. Killua ran around the school. There was no one around so you know whatever. Killua got a feel of the school grounds then heard the tole for lunch. Maybe I can just grab something and go without bumping into anyone. Killua hoped. Probably not.. Killua decided. Killua sighed, If i'm going to survive I guess i'm going to at least make one friend or acquaintance. Killua shuddered at the thought.

When Killua arrived he was surprised to see he was the first student to make it to the cafeteria. Killua stomach rumbled. Then for the first time that day he spoke to someone. It was a random student. But still, that's almost miraculous for Killua. I hope I don't make that a habit.. Killua thought.

Once Killua got his food he sat at a corner table away from everyone else, and proceeded to try to enjoy his lunch.

The booming announcement perked the ears of Johnathon Szczyz, dragging his head out of a typical state of gloom. He ruffled his hair, sighed over an empty pack of cigarettes, and pushed the door to his room wide open.

He made good time from Dorm E to the Orientation, fighting the crowds along with everyone else, although he was given some leeway due to his complexion. The crowds truly aggravated him, made him consider forcefully dispersing them. A lot, if not all, of the girls were wearing mini skirts, so if he dropped the temperature using his Thermal Manipulation, it would surely grant the desired effect. He may have actually done it if he hadn't already been pushed into the large auditorium, forced into a seat by a fat macho kid, and stuck between two girls who couldn't stop yelling out the names of passing students.

Then the Orientation started. John didn't care for much of it, scoffed a little even. The head mistress begged a little of his curiosity, but nothing more. The other teachers hadn't much of an effect either. Veronica's speech reflected his current view of the Student Government, which he had mixed feelings about, and when Lyra took the spotlight he wasn't surprised. Her speech was better organized, more thought-out, than her rambling he had the privilege to witness, but overall it gave the same effect. He found it mildly amusing, and joined in the applause with a light clap. Now, time for food.

Leo got pushed and shoved in the wave of students going to Orientation, managing to get separated from Valentina in the process. This made the poor girl even more terrified than she had been before. She escaped the throng of students the first chance she got and stood by the doors during the entire Orientation. Once they were dismissed for lunch, Leo was one of the first ones out of there and she made her way quickly towards where the food was. She hadn't eaten breakfast that morning (sick with nerves) and she was famished!

Matt made his way to Orientation when he had heard the loud voice from the speakers. His heavy bag was still on his back and he made his way toward the hall to hear the information that should help him through the year. It was a miracle that he didn’t lose a paintbrush or two when he made his way there, with all the people pushing around.

When all of the information was given Matt made his way toward his dorm, maybe his room mate would be there as well, and he could finally get the bag off of his back, before he would have to go to some of his first classes. It was quite the relief when he finally pushed it off his shoulders.

He claimed the first bed he came across and sprawled down in the soft covers.

Lyra smiled at the emptying room. She had done fairly well...considering that she had totally made up her speech as she went along. Of course, she was an actress! Improvisation was one of her many (useless) talents! Just like she could pop her arm out of it's socket to gross out her friends, but that was besides the point.

After the room had pretty much cleared, except a few strays that had hung around to chat or do something else, Lyra threw her arms around Veronica and said, "You did great! I'm so proud!"

Of course, Lyra was probably squeezing out Veronica's inside's with this crushing hug, but she didn't care. She was too happy for words...almost like this was all really happening.

Grabbing Veronica's hand, Lyra walked down the steps that lead up to the stage and up the aisle, making it out the door.

As soon as the two got outside, it was pretty obvious that someone was lost. A girl, wearing a...blindfold? Was she blind?

"No, she's not." Crysta said, crossing her arms and standing behind Lyra. "I don't know why she wears it, actually. Strange."

Lyra jumped at Crysta's words. The teacher was always sneaking up on people and scaring the crud out of them...

"You two get to the dining hall, and good job." the teacher small, shooing the two.

On their way to the dining hall, the girls got multiple compliments on their speeches. After they arrived, Lyra immediately got in line for her food.

Crysta placed both of her hands on Emma's shoulders, stopping the girl from wandering further.

"You know, it would be easier to get around if you took that off." the teacher smiled, guiding the girl to the dining hall. "I could sense you...peeking. I won't tell anyone, though, so don't worry."

Emma wasnt fazed due to feeling the movement of the girl before she even touched her. "I do not dare take this off. Only to wash it without anyone around." she informed Crysta. She followed her, listening to her footsteps and feeling which ways she moved "I only peek to have a mental picture. But I make sure to do it without people looking at me. Other then that, I walk around perfectly fine. There are things I rather not speak of conserning my eyes, so please, do not ask."

Veronica smiled at Lyra as she stated her compliments. Even though it hurt a bit, Veronica hugged Lyra tightly. "Thanks big sis. I'm sure you won the hearts of those students!" As they both exchanged their compliments, the door to the cafateria was opened and it was time to eat! Well for everyone that could eat of course. Veronica usually refused to eat and took along a simple lunch of just tea. Of course no one knew there was blood in it. Magic was pretty useful for disguising blood as earl grey. Veronica sat down and pulled out her thermos she used and poured it into a small and cute teacup. She then looked at the lunch line to see Lyra standing in line. Veronica did get compliments on her speech and so did Lyra but there was a feeling at the pit of Veronica's stomach that made her feel as if she was being taken for granted by the students. She felt almost jealous of Lyra.

The blood stirred in the cup as Veronica took a few sips and felt power resurge into her body. She then looked down in sadness. Something was really bothering her but she couldn't really put her finger on it.

Killua finished his food, he was starting to develope a headache from all the noise. Killua looked through the crowd, all he saw were the usual annoying screaming girl or jockey boy. How do I even make a friend anyway? Sis and me never had to do any of this social stuff.. We were just friends from the start.. Killua thought solemly. He was coming onto one of his moods again, the ones were he completly lashed out with lightning at anyone who bothered him. There were a lot of people bothering him right now..

~Crysta~

Crysta gave a soft smile, feeling the girl's insecurity. She would not press the issue further.

"I understand." she sighed, adjusting her blind fold. "Though I advise you to speak a bit more respectfully to your Professors. I'm willing to be a bit...more understanding because I can feel what my students feel, but others like Liam won't be so kind."

~Lyra~

Lyra tapped her foot impatiently. Why was the line so long? Their one hour for lunch would be over by the time she reached the plates!

Thankfully, most of the students (mostly the boys) let Lyra cut in front of them, so she had her food in a matter of about five minutes. Of course, this kindness wouldn't last all year...but it was nice anyway.

Her tray was absolutely heaped with food. Two plates, one piled with pasta, fried chicken, eggrolls, mashed potatoes, two hot-dogs, macaroni and cheese and pickle slices. All of it was topped it with super thick gravy. The other plate had a tower of desserts on on. A base of chocolate ice cream and bananas, three vanilla confetti cupcakes, a slice of devils food cake, ten lemon squares and a giant swirl of whipped cream. For a small, thin girl, Lyra ate like a horse and could probably beat any guy in the school in a hot-dog eating contest.

Scooping up a spoonful of her savory mess, Lyra grinned. She opened up mouth, and then noticed Veronica was being strangely quiet. Putting down her spoon, Lyra asked, "What is it Veronica? Bad blood?"

Maria, leaving... Wherever orientation was, was terribly irritated. The yelling, laughing and applause left her dazed, dizzy and having difficulty hearing. She walked along, trying to cling to whatever she could to keep her balance. After trying to cling to a wall and having little success, she tried grabbing something else - And found herself grabbing the edge of a woman's top... Or maybe it was a skirt - To keep her balance. Maria let out a gasp of surprise upon noticing what she was doing, stumbled back and let go of the edge of... Whatever it was and fell backwards, landing face-up and laying down.

Maria moaned. "Why won't the world stop spinning?"

As the speeches ended and the students poured into the cafeteria, he reflected a bit. Lyra's speech was okay in his opinion, nothing special. Seemed to rely on the students hopes. Still, everyone else seemed to like it, so I guess that's what mattered. Mars headed into the cafeteria, picking up a bag he had stashed behind a garbage can earlier in order to avoid lines. He had brought a simple sandwich with a bottle of water, nothing special. Noticing Lyra and Veronica at one of the tables, he decided to congratulate them on their speeches. Of course, he wouldn't say anything negative unless they asked. "You two did pretty good up there. Definitely got the crowd excited." He pulled up a seat by the two of them and started eating his sandwich.
