Fantasy Hawthorne Academy

First day of school, first day of a new life, but not an extremely notable day on Johnathon's calendar. He meandered his way towards the school, having walked the entire distance from the airport, and stopped to stand in awe outside the gates. Students were everywhere, by the hundreds- no, the thousands it seemed, and that was no exaggeration. People were not John's forte, he had to admit, yet when society blasted you in the face, what could you do? The welcoming group at the gate certainly caught his eye. They looked pleasing from a distance - very quaint - but, John figured, that was there job. He wasn't about to place any hopes in a welcoming smile anyways.

Taking the smoldering cigarette butt from between his teeth, John purposefully dropped it to the ground and casually smashed it with his shoe. Then, hands in pockets, hair untidy, he walked towards the opened gates. He wasn't ready for what lay ahead, didn't even know what to expect, so he just walked straightforward, casting side glances at people and things as he passed.

Lyra stopped for a moment, turned back towards Aleks, held up her index finger and said, "One second!"

She pulled her small notebook from her pocket, along with her favorite fountain pen, and quickly scrawled her cell phone number down. She tore out the page and handed it to Aleks.

"If you're interested, text me later and we can talk after Orientation is done!" she grinned. "For now, I should probably get back to work. Thank you for your time!"

She was about to go back to her place by the gates, when she remembered the girl that she had just sent Blake over to. She turned towards the two, the girl looking as if she was about to have a panic attack. Quickly making her way over to them, Lyra reached up, standing on her tip-toes, and flicked Blake on the forehead.

"I told you not to scare her." she scolded. "Oh well, you found her."

Turning to Calista and still holding her notebook and pen, Lyra said, "Hello, I'm the President of the Student Council! It's nice to meet you! I apologize, Blake didn't mean to scare you. I just sent him over because I think you should join my drama club! You don't have to answer right away, actually, I need to get back to work, but if you'd like to text me later that would be great!"

Quickly scrawling down her number once again, Lyra tore out the page and handed it to the girl before she could say anything.

There was a short pause, and Lyra smiled.

"You know, you're really pretty." she said softly. She glanced up at Blake, then back at Calista, and said, "He's really not that scary. He's a big old teddy bear when you get to know him."

That moment of calmness didn't last long, because within seconds, Lyra had given her goodbye and marched back to her place at the gates beside Mars.

"I'm back!" she sang, automatically shaking the hands of random students and introducing herself repeatedly. Grabbing the large hands of someone's whose face she could see right away due to him being much taller than she, Lyra froze. She looked up at his face, with both of his hands in hers, and said, "I'm Lyra."

She had seemed to forget the 'Student Body President' part. There weren't many people who could intimidate Lyra, but for some reason, this guy did.

(@magikarpfever14 @DeijiiChan @Akihito )

If there were a cigarette in Johnathon's mouth at that moment, it would have dropped. He stared blankly as a girl fluttered towards him, took his hands in hers, and shook them like they were her own. Her face was sunny and bright, but a cloud seemingly passed over it as her eyes connected with his. Silver eyes met silver eyes. "Uhh . . ." he began, not entirely sure what to say, but groping around his head for the proper words. Again, people were not his forte. "Johnathon Szczyz." He acted casual yet semi-professional - a weird hybrid between the two. In such a situation, he didn't know how to act towards the girl. Perhaps he'd just wait until she did something.

Even when the girl straightened herself it looked like she was doing it out of fear. In fact her whole composure seemed to be on the verge of breaking down. Her eyes were getting watery and she looked down at the floor like it was her life line. When she introduced herself and asked his name Blake knew it must have taken a lot of her just to tell him her name and make simple conversation. Though the way she called him sir made him want to roll his eye but for the sake of the trembling’s girl mental state he decided against it. He did however catch her staring at his eye patch, no surprise there. She definitely looked curious but tried not to show it, prompting him to sigh and run his fingers through his hair.

"My name is Blake and I see your curious about what happened to my eye, well I'll humor you with an explanation if that’s what you want."

It's not like I'm going to tell her the whole story, I’m just telling her just what happened to it...maybe easing her into conversation will make her stop her cowering, if she continues like that she's going to have a panic attack and I really don't want to deal with that.

Before the Calista could answer Lyra walked over to them and flicked his head. Facepalming at everything she said Blake sighed, Lyra could get on his nerves, but at the same time he couldn't really say anything bad about her or retort....most of the time. Well it was more like Blake couldn’t find the heart to be mad at her, sure she got irritating and he wouldn’t not say anything if she got to rambunctious but he did admittedly care for her… she was like a little sister.

Leo smiled again at her roommate. "I... guess I kinda control electronics... Sorta..." She shook her head. "I can also make a sort of electric spark in my hands..." She held up her hand to demonstrate, small bright green sparks dancing over her fingers. She looked away, blushing lightly. "That's about it..." She murmured, glitching a few times as she stared down at her hands folded on her lap.

As Mars continued to nod at the students walking by, occasionally answering any questions, he noticed one seemingly nervous fellow standing in front of the gate. It wasn't the hair that caught his attention, as Mars wasn't one to judge by looks, but the cigarette. From what he knew, smoking was either a result of high levels of stress, peer pressure, or just simply not caring about anything. None of these reasons were very good to Mars, as they all showed how easy a person caves.

He noticed Lyra returning from her recruiting escapade and immediately heading up to the smoker. 'I don't think her personality is going to gel very well with his' was his immediate thought. Sighing, he headed over to the both of them, keeping a straight face. "Hello there. We are representatives of the student government of this school. If you have any questions, feel free to ask." Mars felt that a more formal approach would be a better idea. He gave a slight look at Lyra, trying to hint to her to let go of his hand, as it wasn't making the guy anymore comfortable.

John's head snapped to attention at Mars' approach, a kid seemingly a year or two younger than he. The kid caught his attention fairly quickly, red hair and all, and for the moment he forgot the girl in front of him. Comparing the two greetings he had received, literally in the span of a few seconds, the second was far more formal, approachable, and what John had initially expected. Ironically though, despite the girl's immediate awkward turn, he liked Lyra's intro better than the other boy's. To him, the boy was putting on an attitude that said, 'Move along.'

"Hey," John replied to the boy, neither looking him up or down nor blinking, but facing him directly. What he was really thinking was, Student government? Sounds . . . discriminatory. The best thing he could do though, and he knew it, was just to roll along and get started. But, perhaps he was being too rigid and unappealing? "No questions," he then said, glancing back down at the girl. She still didn't seem any more comfortable. He shrugged, then brightened some. "Actually, I do have one. Where are the dormitories?"

Lyra swallowed hard, dropping her hands to her sides upon hearing Mars' words and staring down at her feet. She quickly looked the smoker up and down, stood a bit straighter. She didn't know why...perhaps to make herself seem a bit stronger. There was tension in the atmosphere around them, but she wasn't going to let that stop her from doing her duty as President.

She looked back up at him as he addressed her, asking a question. She blinked for a second, for some reason taking a while to process his question, and then pointed sharply towards the South Dorms.

"If you head down that way for about five minutes, you'll get to the Boys' Dormitory." she said, not looking him straight in the eye for more than a few seconds. "Just enter through the front door and look at the dorm layout, you should find your room fairly easily."

Almost reflexively, she gave him a small smile.

That was the strangest thing! Nobody scared Lyra...NOBODY! Even when she first met Blake, she didn't have a single fear! But this guy was somehow...different. She couldn't explain it, but there was something different about the earth he walked on. She could feel it. Of course, different didn't necessarily mean BAD...but how could she be sure if it was good?

She couldn't. Maybe that's why he frightened her.

Valentina watched with amazement as green, glowing sparks danced over Leo's fingertips, disappearing into thin air in a matter of seconds. She had never seen anything like that before, nor had she heard of someone who could control electronics.

"Wow.... That's amazing!" She exclaimed, a bright pearly smile appearing on her face once more. Standing up suddenly, she looked at Leo with a now mischievous grin.

"I'm sorry if I scare you with my power. It takes some time for people to get used to it," Valentina said, before claws shot out of her fingertips and she was forced down onto her hands and knees. Her spine arched, curving into a more... Feline-like shape. In a matter of seconds, Valentina had shifted into the form of a jaguar, her spotted tail twitching as she stared at Leo. However, she couldn't talk while in this form, yet you could tell she was happy by looking at her gleaming orange eyes.

Her muscles rippled underneath her spotted, shiny coat as she stood up and prowled around the dorm, letting Leo take the time to get used to the fact a jaguar was standing in their dorm. Shifting back into her normal human form, Valentina collapsed on the bed and smirked.

"I don't show many people my other form. People always freak out, and it makes me self conscious about it, ya know?" Valentina sighed while collapsing on her bed once more.

Maria woke only a dozen or so minutes after falling asleep. Her eyes fluttered open and she let out a little moan, then sat up and looked at her alarm clock. "Ugh. Not this again," Maria said with a sigh and slid off the bed. She stood up and smoothed her dress, which had a few wrinkles on it from her tossing and turning in her sleep. She let out a little yawn and walked out the door of her room, closing and locking it behind her. Maybe there's someone interesting to talk to here, Maria thought. She walked out of the dorms and wandered for a while, just a little too nervous to stop someone and talk with her.

"Lyra, Lyra! " Today was not Veronica's day. She ran to the entrance to greet Lyra and the other student government students. She pulled out a small clipboard and conjured a pen that was lying simply on her left ear. "Sorry I'm late. Had to make sure that everything was set completely for orientation. Also, here are those student arm bands. I'm excited. They look wonderful!" They were indeed wonderful. A simple arm band for each student government member to wear around their arms, signifying that they were here to help. She handed one off to the other members and put hers on right away. Veronica turned to Lyra and presented her like she was presenting the next fashion show model. "might I say, Lyra you do indeed look ravishing!" Veronica then turned to the other student government boys, and eying them down like a hawk, declared sarcastically, " and you boys. look.....Handsome"

But now is not the time for compliments she thought. Veronica stood by the gate watching as students flooded in. With a fast writing speed like lightning, Veronica checked student's names off as they arrived. "Today is going to be a wonderful day." She expressed.

The 'Smoker' was eager to find his dorm and crash after all that walking, yet he told himself leaving such a tense situation with nothing but a nod wouldn't serve him well. In fact, if these people were the 'Student Government', giving off a first bad impression could, and would, only come back to stab him. Most likely they were appalled by the fact he had just been smoking a cigarette. Not that he cared what they thought, but he felt the necessity to say something all the same. "Thanks," he conjured the means to say, short and frank as it was. It was only then did he slip for a moment as his brain fumbled for something else. "S-Student government, you say?" He turned to Mars, directing the question at him, but glancing back at Lyra to ensure she knew he was also speaking to her.

His thoughts were cut short as another girl ran up to them, only she appeared acquainted with the two members John was speaking to. She even called one of them out by name. Lyra, it seemed, and Johnathon could only assume the girl who stood before him. A name was a handy tool to know. If the right time arose, he could use it; his 'ace in the hole'.

Leo blushed slightly in embarrassment at the compliment, then proceeded to stare in wonder as her roommate transformed into perhaps the most gorgeous feline she'd ever seen. "Wow... I've never seen a jaguar before..." Being unusually brave, Leo looked straight into Valentina's eyes when she turned back into her human form and asked in a surprisingly strong voice, "Is your fur really as soft and smooth as it looks?"

Valentina smiled cheerfully at Leo's compliment towards her. Not many people were brave enough to even be a feet or two near her. Most people started screaming and bolt for the nearest exit.

"As weird as it sounds, I think it's softer than anything I've ever felt. I make sure to clean it daily so I don't smell like I just came out of a swamp." She giggled slightly, returning Leo's gaze. Her strong voice surprised her for a moment, but at the same time, she was happy. That just meant Leo was getting closer to her.

Lyra blinked at Johnathon again, still for some reason taking an extra second to process his words. She glanced around for a moment, and then said as confidently as she could, "I am."

She looked up at his face, again only looking right into his eyes for a moment.

Suddenly and out of nowhere, the Vice President made her entrance. Lyra took a silent sigh of relief. She always felt more comfortable with Veronica around, since the two were pretty much best friends.

Taking the arm band, Lyra's eyes sparkled.

"Thank you, Veronica! These...these turned out better than I hoped!" she exclaimed, forgetting momentarily that she was supposed to be petrified. She immediately slid the arm band on and gasped.

"It's stunning, Veronica! Oh, you've done it again!" she giggled, modelling the arm band. Of course, both of the girls would have to force the boys to wear the arm bands, but for now, it was just fun to have them.

Then, Lyra remembered who was standing beside her.

Turning bright red, the President faced Johnathon again and stuttered, "I'm sorry...uh...um..."

((Just realize he already told her his name xD ))

The green eyed girl smiled again and nodded, posture slightly more relaxed than it has been since Valentina arrived. "Wow..." She murmured again. Suddenly, her body was taken in a really powerful glitch that knocked her to the floor. Sitting up, she kept her head bowed, face bright red. "S-so-sorry..." She stuttered out, trembling slightly. God, Valentina was going to think she was a total freak now! She hadn't seemed to notice her glitches so far, but there was no way she could have missed that one!

Mars turned his attention to Veronica as she handed him his armband and gave her sarcastic comment. "Why thank you, I do think I look rather handsome today." His reply was dripping with sarcasm, kind of mocking her previous joke. He grasped the armband in his hand, then turned away from the smoker and Lyra. "Well, should probably get back to greeting the rest of the students. You can handle the rest of this, right Lyra?" He waved over his shoulder as he returned to his position, nodding to passing students and answering questions. He wasn't too sure she COULD handle talking to the smoker, seeing how she seemed intimidated by him, But now that Veronica was here she could help her with that.

"I am."

Those words resonated with John for a moment. They were not the words he was expecting, but the tone the girl produced especially surprised him. At least she wasn't gawking at him any longer. Yet then, as if to contradict his very thoughts, the president, Lyra, put on an ultimate feat of girlishness. It caught a chuckle out of John's mouth. He also figured this opportunity was perfect for his chance to be on his way. A mild sense of awkwardness had seized him standing in front of the gate, chatting to the greeters while other newcomers and veterans alike brushed past.

As he began to be on his way, he heard the not-so-familiar question, 'what is your name?' He turned to regard Lyra, and said with a smirk, "Johnathon Szczyz. A pleasure, and no, don't try to pronounce the last name." He had the formality to add: "And you? What is your name?" Though he already knew the answer to his own question, bonus points were awarded for asking it yourself. The only amusing thing about the situation was the fact John had no idea just how much his Polish accent had acted up.

Veronica looked beside Lyra and noticed this dark looking man that she was talking to. It was obvious that Veronica was mistrusting of the man. He seemed rather...Rebellious. Sometimes it was just that. Veronica could admit that she could sometimes be very sexist. She believed of men to be mistrustful and always up to something. The reason she has kept it so long is probably because no other man has ever proven her wrong. So she stands to what she believes. Veronica then looked out to the distance of the school and noticed what was seemingly a younger girl in a lovely dress. Veronica looked down at her clipboard and then back up at the girl. "My roommate... Maria" Veronica put her clipboard to her side and looked up to Lyra. "Forgive me for interrupting. I'll be right back"

Veronica then walked over to the young girl maria around her age and performed a small curtsey. "You must be Maria. You'll know me as Veronica Elizabeth McCarter, Your vice president of the school government system. You may call me Veronica though. It's nice to meet you."

Veronica tried to come off not too strong but still responsible as to show her leadership roles. Veronica almost seemed cocky. She then tried to ease the tension by making a remark. "That's a beautiful dress. May I ask where you got it?"

Valentina nodded, returning Leo's warm smile. She saw Leo's body suddenly jerk, causing her to fall to the floor. She stood up in alarm, prepared to help Leo up, but she was already sitting on her bed, her face turning bright red.

"Oh, Leo. Don't apologize." Valentina said comfortingly, a smile on her face as she leaned down and sat next to her on the bed. She didn't think Leo was a freak in the least. Actually, it did the opposite effect.

"It's part of your ability. You shouldn't be embarrassed about that." Grinning once more, she turned her attention to the waving jaguar tail behind her.

"I can't control my power either. Sometimes I shift into a jaguar and I can't even stop it, and trust me," She burst into a laugh as she recalled the last time she couldn't control her ability.

"Turning into a massive predator in the middle of class is very, very embarrassing." Valentina made sure Leo knew she was going to be comfortable with her no matter what. She wasn't the type of person to judge after all.

Lyra began to protest at Veronica leaving, but before she could the Vice President was gone.

Traitor.

Looking back at Johnathon, Lyra locked her hands behind her back and said, "My name is Lyra Connerson."

And then, she noticed. The accent...the incredibly amazing, foreign, gorgeous Polish accent. Unfortunately, she had a weakness for such accents. Lyra stuttered for a moment and asked, "Are you from Poland? That's so cool! I wish I was from somewhere interesting...well, Germany might count as interesting, though I hardly think so because I can't speak a word--"

And she was off, rambling like she usually would. Once she caught herself, she stopped.

"Lyra Connerson." she said, answering his question again and bowing her head.

"Oh," Maria muttered almost involuntarily and turned to Veronica. Veronica, Maria thought. My roommate, I think. "It's great to know I can still make dresses as well as I used to - I made this myself." After a moment of letting her mind wander, Maria recalled not seeing any other bags besides her own in the dorm. "I don't mean to pry, but where did you put your luggage? I could take them back to the room if you'd like." Maria gripped the hem of her dress with her hands nervously, but smiled still.

First day of school. Eugh. Geno didn't even want to be here, but he knew he had to. He looked up at the sky just to get stung by the light of the sun. A black tear ran down the side of his face. He quickly wiped it off and put on a pair of shades. Like it wasn't enough that people freak out at the sight of his eyes.

He noticed the student government greeting people by the gates, and walked in a wide circle around them. He couldn't be arsed with talking with people now. "The south dormatories... Room C..." He made his way to the dormatories, and left his things in the room he was supposed to. No one was there, so he just moved on.

Moving back to the area where the student government were talking to people, it had gotten a bit more crowded. He looked around, trying to see where he was supposed to go for the orientation. Spinning around in the crowd, he bumped into some student larger than himself, and was sent flying into some red-haired kid about his size (That's Mars). The guy who bumped into him said "Sorry" in passing, but disappeared in the crowd before Geno could exact any kind of revenge. So instead he got off the ground, and turned to the kid he had tackled in his flight. "My bad, some guy bumped into m-" He realized that the guy was part the student government. Oh great, I already got important people on my bad side, He thought.

"Made by thyself!" Veronica was astonished. The patterns seemed quite intricate. Beautiful though, She thought. Then Maria asked about the Luggage. "Absolutely not! It's my job as a student government vice president to uphold duties. And one of those duties is helping others. My luggage is currently in the dorm halls. I came early at the break of dawn to make sure everything was in order for your safety and convenience." Veronica then looked down. Almost seemingly sad. "I'm rambling again, aren't I? Please forgive me. I tend to ramble when it comes to the order of the school". Veronica looked up at the many clouds that were covering the sun and shielded her eyes from the rays that were coming through the clouds. Damn big ball of fire in the sky isn't gonna ruin me today. No sir. She also wasn't about to scare off her roommate by revealing her vampirism just yet. "I'll make sure to get settled in the dormitories soon. Why don't you come with me? Orientation is going to start soon. Might aswell meet your new president."

Veronica walked over to Lyra and motioned for Maria to follow. Veronica then met beside Lyra and looked to the man she was talking to. "Again sorry to interrupt." Veronica then Made a sign with her hands to Lyra that they both knew that sunlight was near. Obviously being Veronica's weaknesses.

Still blushing brightly, she glanced at Valentina, though she couldn't bring herself to meet the other girl's eyes. "Sorry..." She wasn't really sure what she was apologizing for this time, but her motto was 'When in doubt, apologize,' so... She nodded a bit and even cracked a small smile. "Yeah, I can see how that would cause a few problems..." It was hardly noticeable (except for when it was very noticeable) but Leona was actually always glitching, at least a little bit, though most of the time it was just her fingers (except for when it was everywhere else).
