~Professor Crysta Chime~

Crysta smiled at his thoughts, but winced slightly as she felt the strength of his aura peek out again. It wasn't that it hurt, it was just...intense. Too intense.

"I'm glad, and please, call me Crysta." she smiled, standing up with her untouched tea and pouring it out. Never had she not been in the mood for tea, but she couldn't drink anything now. Turning back towards Aleksander, she said, "Yes, I'm helping you so you can help others. Now, how about we get you to Professor Eriwind now. Thank you for this talk, Aleksander."

After she washed her cup, she took Aleksander's and set it on the table beside the stove to deal with later. Grabbing a pen and sheet of blank, white paper, Crysta scrawled the following note:

"Giovia,

Please pardon Aleksander's lateness, we were discussing transferring him from Liam's class to mine. I need to talk to you later, come to my classroom at 5:00, if you can.

-C.C"

For a blind woman, Crysta had surprisingly good hand writing. It was a little sloppy, but readable. She folded up the note and said, "Let's get you to class."

Rai-Chan updated Hawthorne Academy with a new update entry:

What's Going On #3

Hello, this is your Student Body President Lyra speaking! I hope you're ready for Update Number Three!
Most of the students are either in
Basic Combat 101 with Xavier Caige or Basic Healing and Protection 101 with Giovia Eriwind! If you aren't in class, you'd better get your butt over there!

  • After Mars dragged me into Basic...

Aleksander nodded and sprang up. He quickly headed for the door and held it open for Crysta. He smiled and gave a small bow.

"It is polite to let woman go first yes. Ladies first as they say." He said.

He was excited. This teacher was a bit weird but he also liked her. Now that his talk was over he can go to his actual class and make some new friends. Or they'll just stare at him and brand him as a weirdo for showing up late. That doesn't bother Aleks, he always makes friends one way or another.

~Professor Crysta Chime/Professor Giovia Eriwind~

Crysta stepped through the door as it was held open for her, and she gave a thankful nod towards him. As they walked, she smiled...he thought she was weird eh? That did matter. He liked her all the same, which was really what mattered. Sensing what she named the wow-she's-weird emotion was second-nature to Crysta. Everyone thought she was weird.

As the two arrived at the classroom, Crysta and Aleks slipped inside fairly unnoticed. Giovia was confused for a moment, and then she noticed Aleksander.

"Oh, you must be Aleks." Giovia smiled. "Your evaluation is on my desk."

Giovia gestured towards the sheet of paper, and then pulled Crysta aside to the two could talk.

"You seem troubled. Is anything wrong?" Giovia asked, her expression showing clear concern. Crysta shook her head and held out the note, saying, "No, I'm fine. Please read this note."

And with that, Crysta was out the door and headed back to her classroom.

Giovia shook her head and muttered, "Wow, she's weird..."

Calista was off in her own world, suddenly getting the urge to draw something. Taking out her sketchbook along with her colorful pencils, she started to sketch out a little stick figure, continuously adding in little bits of detail here and there. Once she got the base of her drawing down, she started to darken in the lines that she wished to keep, erasing the left over and darkening in more lines until it formed a person.

Calista stared at her drawing, pleased with how well it was coming out. Blowing off the leftover erase dust, she finally started coloring in the drawing in no time at all. It seemed she only wasted about 5 minutes with drawing the base and 15 minutes with sketching in the drawing. Her speed with drawing out her thoughts were quite surprising and with skillful hands, she was able to draw with such creative details.

When she finished with her drawing, she smiled with joy, her face lighten up as if she was a child excited, proud for getting a gold star. The drawing was a picture of a boy, standing and staring out the window with a poker face. The boy was what she imagine her partner to be, someone smart with a fine appearance. Just like the name, Geno, the boy had a noble-like air around him as if he was a prince from a fairytale or those noblemen in the old times.

Calista was quite proud of herself but then heard the sound of chattering. Coming back to her senses of reality, she gasped remembering that she was in class still and was suppose to be making friends at the moment, feeling miserable for missing out on the conversations among her classmates, Calista got up and tried to start a little chat with her classmates but with her timid and low confidence in herself, she decided to sit down and continue to hide herself in the back of the class, worried she would be judged as a loud mouth or something along that line.

She felt so weak but then she heard a little voice, a sweet voice that sang a song of sweet melody. Turning her head towards the voice, she noticed a girl with long brunette hair tied up and her black-rimmed glasses just like Calista's but they suited her quite well and were a bit bigger. The song the girl sang was cute but it was short as she continued to write down some things in her book, guessing that she was writing a song,"What a beautiful talent." Calista praised.

While she was taking her seat, a male student, quite taller than her came into the room. His prince-like image and friendly atmosphere was a warm sight to see and made Calista feel a strange feeling of calmness swept over her,"What a nice feeling." Calista thought, surprised that her sense of feeling low of herself being washed away just from seeing a guy she never even met before.

----

Shinji felt his heart stop when Geno confirmed that it was his Calista, many questions going through his head why they didn't get partner together instead and why she was in the protect group when she had a disadvantage in her powers,"Calista is with this guy... that I only met for a few minutes." Shinji stated into his mind, trying to process that Calista was partner with this guy.

With a huff, Shinji nodded and slightly glared at Geno,"I happen to know her quite well and I advise you to keep a close eye on her for me." Shinji said, not letting some guy that he consider a friend be let off so easily. Even though Geno was a very interesting guy, Shinji still didn't know him well enough to take Calista as his partner and working together with him. The thought of them together made Shinji worry, just like a father letting his only daughter go to get married off with some man.

Aleksander bowed and thanked Giovia. Before Crysta left he called to her.

"Thank you Professor. I look forward to your tea and your class."

He went to his other professor's desk and took his evaluation. Aleks then realized that there was a classmates all behind him. He gave a small wave and smiled.

"Hi"

Aleks took his evaluation and sat in the only empty seat, which was probably his. It was a bit weird to enter a classroom late. Aleks has never been late before and always had perfect attendance. He knew it wouldn't affect his schooling but it sure did feel a bit awkward as everyone stared at him, wondering who was this happy-go-lucky boy who entered their class late.

Nichole blinked and looked up moving her black hair behind her ears."t-thanks." Blushing slightly. she smiled and said "I love writing songs." Nichole nommed on a small piece of chocolate and looked up at the girl. "Did we meet before?" Standing up and then looked out the window again. "Ooh birdie!" Nichole smiled and went to write something about a birds and freedom. "Hmm lets see.." thinking. She tried to think of a good beat for it. "Eh I'll come up with something in music. "

Geno saw a feeling of trepidation sweep Shinji's face, but decided not to ask, instead he turned back to look out the window. "I happen to know her quite well and I advise you to keep a close eye on her for me." Geno looked back at him. His thoughts wandered back to the last time he was paired up with someone in a dangerous situation. "While I admire your protective feelings, I don't think I'll have to keep a close eye on her. Sounds to me like you'll do that already." He scratched his hair and leaned back in his seat. "But if it makes you feel better, I won't let a teammate down as long as I live, but other than that, you said you know her, so you'd know better than me how she'll do."

Geno didn't instantly put his trust in anyone, but if this girl was a friend of Shinji, then he felt even better about the situation. Shinji didn't strike him as someone who'd pick sporadic, unreliable friends. However this whole protection thing had him a bit bothered. He didn't know Shinji well, so he might just be overreacting, but if this girl needed protection, it would seem rather peculiar the she was supposed to be protecting him.

He sneezed. It surprised him, because he wasn't feeling ill. That thing people say about someone thinking about you came to his mind, but he quickly dismissed it as nonsensical supersticious gibberish. He mumbled "Excuse me.." to anyone close to him, and then continued to Shinji "Is your partner anyone I know?"

~Lyra~

Lyra's heart (and thoughts) were racing as the scene unfolded between Johnathon and herself. Of course, they went pretty unnoticed by the class, who were busy reading over their evaluations, asking questions, and talking to eachother. Lyra was thankful for that, or the overall situation would probably be so embarrassing that she'd have to go crawl into a hole or jump off a bridge. Though seeing his cheeks matching the color of hers made her feel slightly better...but just a moment ago when he had put his hand over hers, even though it was obviously unintentional, she couldn't help but feel her heart jump at his touch.

She still didn't know why.

Then, Lyra had a revelation...sort of.

Johnathon controlled temperature, which was hot and cold, and hot and cold in German was heiß und kalt (some of the few words Lyra managed to learn before she violently quit German). Heiß und kalt start with "H" and "K". The "H" stood for "He's". The letter "k" makes the same sound as the letter "c", and the "C" stood for "Contagious"...

He's Contagious?!

It was so obvious! Johnathon was sick, and he was giving whatever he had to Lyra! That would explain why they were both all red and jumpy!

[/QUOTE]
Johnathon reconsidered his actions for a moment, realizing a little too late how 'out-of-character' he seemed. Sure, Lyra had only known him for an hour, but--

Wait, an hour? They had only known each other for an hour, and already things had devolved to this? John mentally face-palmed. I am so doomed. I can't even keep calm with this girl for an hour. A measly hour. His socializing skills were, evidently, down the drain already, and quite possibly his personality as well. Again he told himself not to care, but somehow this was different. He did want to care about this particular instance, though practically everything beforehand - throughout his life - he hadn't.

He stopped thinking as the door to the class clicked open. A student walked in, a teacher by his side at the door, and Giovia came to greet them. Actually John was extremely thankful for the diversion, allowing him brief rest from his own thoughts.

The boy was tall, handsome, and rather outgoing on first sight. A good impression on the class, John thought, leaning somewhat back in his chair. For the moment he had diverted his gaze from Lyra, and that helped him feel a little better. John, oddly enough, began to wander what other types of powers students in the class possessed. Initially the appearance of the new student had perked this question, and the more he thought about it, the more he wondered. At any rate, the new student sat down nearby, within reasonable speaking range, so he could ask himself if the chance arose. Absentmindedly, he looked back down at his evaluation papers. He read over the words again without really giving any further thought than he had initially. "Mmm," he mumbled, resting his arms behind his head.

~Professor Giovia Eriwind~

After Giovia spoke to Crysta, she took a moment to grab the fresh pack of yellow sticky notes she had gotten for the new year. Tearing off the plastic and tossing it into the garbage, Giovia grabbed a pencil and quickly wrote down:

After Aleksander had read through his evaluation, Giovia decided that the class had better start with introductions. She clapped her hands together and said, "Alright, quiet everyone!"

The room actually quieted down fairly fast, which Giovia was pleased by.

"Now that everyone is here, we can begin with the introductions!" she said, taking a seat at her desk. "You will simply come up to the front of the class, state your name, age, and two things about yourself--
Not. Your. Power."

Last year, she asked the students to state their powers as well, but that didn't go well. It turned into a
who-has-the-best-power competition, resulting in a horrible mess that she had to clean up. Last year was a very bad year.

"Lyra, you can go first." Giovia smiled, almost devilishly. She knew that Lyra was good at handling being put on the spot...and anyway, nobody would volunteer to go first.

~Lyra~

Lyra looked away from Johnathon upon seeing...no...it couldn't be...it was!

The gorgeous Italian boy! What was his name, again? Aleksander...DiCaprio? Was he related to
Leonardo DiCaprio?! She knew that he had star quality! She had given the boy her number that morning...she would just wait a bit longer for his answer. She had to be patient...

Lyra's thoughts were interrupted upon hearing Professor Eriwind trying to hush the class. Listening quietly, Lyra was about to drift back into a fantasy about how great the drama club would be once he said yes to her invitation, when she heard her name.

Well, apparently she was going first.

Going first with what? Lyra wasn't really paying attention. Getting up, the girl awkwardly made her way to the front of the class. She looked at Giovia with a confused look.

The teacher rolled her eyes, and mouth out, "
Introduction".

Lyra nodded and turned towards the class, smiling. She took only a few seconds before she spoke. When she did, she said cheerfully, "Hello! My name is Lyra Connerson and I'm 17 years old. I'm President of the Student Council, I play the piano, and I love the dramatic arts!"

Lyra listed off the three things about herself on her fingers, and then smiled. After the girl returned to her seat, Giovia scanned the room for her next victim...

"Ah, Aleksander, why don't you go next?" she smiled.

~Professor Xavier Caige~

Letting out a long groan, Xaier sat up, taking his feet down from his desk. He looked over the room. Things seemed to be going fairly well...I mean, it WAS the first day and class was only lasting an hour. It's not like he could really do anything productive with them. Checking the clock, the teacher was surprised to see they only had fifteen minutes of that hour left.

Well, they might as well do some introductions or something.

"Alright, since I have nothing better to do with you for the last fifteen minutes of class, why don't you all take turns coming up here and introducing yourselves?" he suggested, letting out a yawn. "Shinji, you can go first. Say your name, age...whatever, I guess."

Aleksander looked up, a bit surprised he was asked to go up right after he sat down.

Oh introductions. I see. Should I put on a clo- wait no. That's not proper. Yes, no cloth. Aleksander thought.

He got up and walked to the front of the class. Aleksander was still learning English so he quickly recited everything he was going to say in Italian so he could try to translate it.

"Okay then. Hello! My name is Aleksander Denucio. With a C, not a Z. It's weird but I like it. Well, I have to like it since it's my last name but I digress! I am 17 years old and I recently moved here from Italy where I was born and raised. I come from a pure-blood line of Italians that have been traced to ancient times."

Aleksander paused for a moment, trying to think of something else that was interesting.

"Ah yes. I am still learning English but I can speak fluent Italian of course. I came here to learn how to control my power and help others. I am not much of a fighter. What is it that you say.. Ah! I am a lover, not a fighter. Well in my case, I'm a protector. I am no good at instruments unfortunately, ha ha but I am always willing to try again. My ultimate goal is to make many friends and be able to protect them all with my shield and my life. It's a...pleasure ah yes, that's the word, it's a pleasure to meet you all and I look forward to hearing more about you."

Aleksander gave a small bow and went back to his chair.

~Professor Giovia Eriwind~

Giovia cringed upon hearing him briefly mention his shield.

Please nobody compare powers, please don't argue, PLEASE don't repeat last year!

After a short silent, Giovia let out a sigh of relief. She nodded at Aleksander's introduction and said, "Very nice, Aleksander. I'm sure you'll be just fine here."

Looking over the class again, Giovia smiled.

"Calista, how about you go next?"

After Leo had calmed down a bit, she heard Valentina ask her about who she was partnered with. Only she made it sound like she was supposed to have more than one...? Shrugging it off, she turned to her friend, smiling a bit. The redhead only had just enough time to quickly tell the other girl that she'd been partnered with a 'Mars Porter' before the teacher stood up and spoke. Introductions?! He wanted her to go up and stand in front of a bunch of people and tell them about herself?! Well, on the bright side, at least she wasn't picked to go first... Maybe if she was lucky, the others would take a long time and class would be over before Professor Caige realized she existed...

Veronica was taken aback by such an strange argument. Not just with a classmate but also a fellow student government member."I'm sorry to tell you, but working solely on offense instead of balancing both is detrimental to the fighting side. Besides, if you were to go over to combat, it would mess the balance up, making you alone and without a comrade to help beside you. You are also leaving Leo behind. If she was to be attacked and killed, her blood would be on your hands. While the opposing side has a defender and a combatant, you are left with two combatants. One probably dead already. It's not about going in with full force. It's about balance and logic."

mCAlrb9.png

Logic. That word brought Mars back from his pride-damaged state and to his normal, calculating self. If he were to think about the situation logically, he was trained to be a fighter and know the ins and outs of the battlefield. However, this lended itself to protecting, as one needs to be able to read the battlefield in order to properly assist your partner. If he could anticipate what the opposition would do, he would be able to adequately protect his partner before they even made their move. There was also the possibility that his partners ability would be worse for protection than his, so a swap wouldn't make any sense. As for defending with offense, that technique only works for certain scenarios, and is very limited in its uses. Mars still wasn't happy with being put in protection, but thinking about it logically, he could see how it could work. He was about to thank Veronica for getting him back to his senses, but he noticed she had focused elsewhere, so Mars decided to read more of his physics book.

As Mars was finishing reading up on the 'pressure' section in his book, Giovia announced that introductions would begin, so he put down his book and listened. Lyra went first, nothing he hadn't heard already, and then this new kid was called up. Aleksander was his name. Mars didn't particularly like this kid from what he heard. He reminded him of his previous room mate; way too cheery, and always trying to help others. He didn't exactly enjoy those type of people, as he found them very illogical thinkers and jumping into situations without thought. Mars glanced down at the evaluation sheet he had, looking at his partners name. "Leona, huh. I wonder what she can do." He was hoping she would be a long range fighter and at least semi competent, as that would probably suite his powers the best.

Calista could have swore that the boy just waved at her but she couldn't really tell, keeping her hands to her side. She didn;t want to embarrass herself and wave when he must have been waving at someone else, feeling her cheeks lightly heat up in embarrassment on what to do. She was a jumble of mess and her eyes seemed as if they must have been swirled in circles from her confusion but it soon stopped when Professor Eriwind annouced that since everyone was here now, they would have an introduction of themselves,"I-introduction?! In front of the class?!" Calista panicked in her mind, her fear of being in front of people, being seen, being judged, it scared her greatly.

Watching as the girl from before, the President of the Student Council raised to be the first to start. After her little introduction, the new boy went up next. Watching as he got up and stood in front of the class. Calista couldn't help but giggle at his cute accent, also laughing how he used the word "lover" in an adorable way. He truly was a great guy, more than a prince, he was more of a knight in shining armor willing to protect anyone with his strong might.

After he was also done with his introduction, Calista sat there and await for who the next person who shall take a stand to speak in front of the whole class, hoping it wouldn't be her.

Then it came, her name being called out, desperate how hard she tried to hide in the back, she was still able to be seen by Professor Eriwind,"Sharp eyes." Calista thought and felt like she was dying at the moment. Gripping at her chair, she tried to calm down her fast heartbeat and bundled up all the courage she had, she slowly getting up from her seat. Taking a deep breath, Calista made the effort to make it to the front, her feet feeling like bricks with every step she took to make it there. Eventually, she made it in just a few minutes, standing there with stiff shoulders, she felt her throat going dry at the sight of how many people were there,"Stay calm Calista! You can do it! All you have to do is say your name and three things about you... not so hard right?" Calista reminded herself, gripping at her over-sized jacket.

Looking up at all her fellow pupils, Calista cleared her throat and tried to give the best smile she could muster,"H-h-hello! M-my name i-is C-c-carrot!" Calista gasped at her ridiculous mistake, waving her hands in the air,"I mean Calista! Calista Vance! I-i'm 15 years old... N-n-ice to m-m-meet you!" Calista corrected herself, her face completely beet red and if you looked closely, it seemed like stream was coming off of her. Her whole body was trembling just like a newborn foal.

She felt like dying now, so much that she wanted to cry, behind her fogged glasses were beads of tears that Calista desperately tried to hold back. Tightening her grip on her jacket to even make her knuckles go pale white, Calista continued on,"I-i-i... E-england i-is my h-homeland and I-i like to draw." Calista stuttered,"Okay just one more and I'll be done!" Calista cheered herself on,"A-and I like B-b- Book!" She cried out loudly and quickly ran to her seat but tripped over her own shoes, falling to the ground with a loud thump, face planted to the ground.

With this done, Calista couldn't hold it in anymore and started to let all the tears she held back, sobbing softly to herself,"How terrible! How horrible! I'm such a klutz!" Calista yelled in her head, feeling useless and embarrassed to say anything anymore and only wished to die now.

Shinji just shrugged, letting Geno be excused for his sneeze,"Blake Jones. Little Secretary boy is my partner." Shinji said until he was suddenly called out by Professor Caige to be the first volutneer to introduce himself,"How sweet of you Exploding Caige. To call me out of everyone." Shinji sarcastically mumbled and got up with Kuro in his arm. Standing in front of the whole class, fog could be seen coming out of his mask as he breathed,"Shinji Aramaki, 17 years old and this is Kuro." Shinji said holding the cat up so everyone could see.

Kuro stared at all the people with curious, glowing yellow eyes, mewing at Geno's direction. Squirming around in Shinji's grip, Kuro jumped onto a student's desk and started jumping from desk to desk over to Geno's lap, hissing at everyone who stared at him,"Oh... I forgot to say that he hates being in crowded places." Shinji added and glanced over at Geno then back at everyone else,"Hope you guys survive this year." Shinji added and turned on his heels back to his seat, not caring if he was a bit rude to everyone.

Taking his seat back in front of Geno, Shinji turned around and tapped on his desk,"Seems Kuro found a liking for ya." Shinji stated with a grin playing at his lips.

-Gahhh! This post is soo long @-@ I had to shorten Shinji's post because of it DX-

A hand went down to Calista's and with a handkerchief, wiped her tears away. Aleksander gave her a warm smile and held out his hand.

"Come on, you're not hurt are you? Stand up! You did wonderful! I learned a lot from you and all good things too!" He said, smiling brightly at her. He helped her up and gave her his handkerchief. "Here, you could use this. You shouldn't cry you know. People don't look beautiful when they cry. I like it better when you smile. Don't be nervous, you are who you are and that's all there is to it. I think you were awesome up there. So wipe those tears away and come sit back down. Do you want to be friends?"

Leona stared in wonder at the gorgeous black cat that had accompanied a gas mask-wearing boy in the class. Her desk hadn't been one of the ones to be jumped on, but she'd watched the entire thing with something like adoration in her eyes. She'd always adored cats... She used to be friends with one, when she was young. Sadly, her mother had said that they had to get rid of the brown tabby... Leo had quite literally cried about it for days. She wished she had the courage to say hi to the cat that was in her very own classroom, just a few seats away. She didn't want to coddle or smother it, she knew he (she was assuming Kuro was a 'he') probably wouldn't like that... She'd been staring for a long time, and some part of her in the back of her mind wondered if anyone had noticed, but couldn't bring herself to care at that particular moment.

Veronica looked down to her hands as they were holding her protection evaluation paper. Her hand seem to be shaken. Was it what she was experiencing before? Was it worse? She grabbed her hand, tight and tried to stop it from shaking. She felt really really strange. She then felt the pain again, in the middle of her chest. As if something was hurting her heart. But it felt so strange. Again, like spiritual pain not physical pain. She tried to massage the top of her collarbone to help her relax. She then looked back to the teacher. "Miss, can I talk to your privately?"

Geno looked boredly at the cat skipping towards him. Of course he liked animals, but the author is tired of having him flinch, as it shouldn't be in his nature. It jumped into his lap and he raised a hand to pet it. He'd always had some sort of animalcharm. Even as a kid, sometimes he fell asleep in his garden, and woke up surrounded by the family's animals (3 tame tigers, which is AWESOME) and a bunch of birds. "Seems like he does.." Geno responded to Shinji. "I recognize Kuro from one of my language lessons, but probably not from any of the successful classes since I'm unsure.. It's a shot in the dark, but isn't Kuro japanese for black?" Geno lifted Kuro out of his lap. "Oh yeah, I'm from a rich family, so I've had private classes in lots of things, for example 18 languages.. 10 of which I actually learned.."

~Professor Giovia Eriwind~

Shaking her head at Calista's weak and nervous introduction, Giovia sighed. Of course, it wasn't a sigh of malice or contempt, but one of pity. When Giovia was younger, she was just as nervous and ditzy as Calista. Remembering those days almost made the teacher smile. When she saw Aleksander comforting her, she crossed her arms with a smirk.

"Alright, Johnathon Sc--Schee--Scheze--Johnathon why don't you go next?" Giovia said, not being able to pronounce the boys last name. Was it spelled correctly on the sheet? Maybe not...oh well.

Just then then, Veronica approached her and asked if she could speak speak to the teacher privately. Nodding, the teacher stood up and said, "I will be back in a few minutes. Aleksander, you're in charge of the introductions."

Leading Veronica out in the hall, Giovia wondered what could be wrong. Closing the door and looking at the girl, she asked, "What's wrong?"
((Aki is taking over Xavier until further notice))

~Professor Xavier Caige~

Xavier yawned but clapped quietly. Bored but at least he'll show a little interest.

"Good job, okay Geno.. Friar. You're turn. Do your thing..whatever."

(Posting on behalf of RAi-Chan)

Johnathon, still leaning back in his chair, arms behind his head, watched Lyra go up and introduce herself. Much like the speech at Orientation, he thought, scratching some stubble under his chin. This time, however, he didn't find himself smiling. He was still somewhat at war with himself, and could not, could not for the love of buxom Polish ladies really know why. It was like a gap in his mental understanding, an empty space with a large 'X' over it. For the time being, the piano bit had flown over his head.

The Italian kid was next, John saw. He watched him move to the front of the class, a familiar and friendly smile on his face. John didn't know how to take the kid. The smile, hair, and twinkle in his eyes almost made John expect him to walk right on over, outstretch his hand, and ask to be friends. No, actually, that was exactly what he'd do! This guy he had figured out. He was one of those stereotypical foreign students with a righteous sense of justice - the kind that had a knack for stealing the girls first day. "Tch." John found himself sneering under his breath. But, as another foreign student, one out of many actually, he had no right to judge. Poland and Italy? He found himself chuckling slightly as his sneer disappeared.

"Calista, how about you go next?"

At this point, Johnathon wasn't even paying attention. His eyes weren't even open.

"M-my name i-is C-c-carrot!"

John's eyelids shot open, revealing the amused silver eyes beneath. Carrot? he repeated, nearly snorting. The girl before him at the front of the class was timid; extremely so. Though what began as an amused smirk dissolved to a frown as some genuine sympathy for the girl amassed in John's chest. He felt awkward and cold quite suddenly, mimicking how the girl, Calista, most likely felt. Someone help her, someone help her, he silently chanted, shutting his eyes to cut off the image of the girl looking so terrified. He heard her shout out 'book' then dash for her seat. What followed was the painful thud of the girl falling. John opened his eyes again to see the Italian, Aleksander, bending over her with a hanky. His eyes widened. I knew it! I was totally right about this kid! He glanced around the class to see if anyone else came to the same conclusion, but their faces weren't hopeful. Everyone was more worried about the girl, and John found he was too.

Another thought - memory, more like - then strolled down John's head and placed itself before his eyes to see. Amidst the Italian and the girl, Calista he remembered, he thought of what Lyra had said near the end of her introduction. It was something about . . . the piano! A little butterfly fluttered up his stomach as he leaned forward in his seat to come to terms with the thought. Mutual love for the same instrument? John couldn't help throw a sideways glance at Lyra (after all, they were sitting next to one another).

Then the moment shattered. Johnathon visibly groaned as his name was called out. Okay, he did admit to its insane pronunciation, but no-one had ever butchered it this much! A darker feeling shoved the butterfly back down his stomach as John nearly threw the teacher a contemptuous look. In response, he gracefully slid out of his seat, straightened his tie, and stalked to the front of the class. With how unruly his hair was, unkempt too, many strands fell in front of his face. He almost looked hungover. "It's Johnathon Szczyz," he said, one hand rubbing his chin while the other was in his pocket, evidently more 'awake' than a hungover human would be. "Sscheesh. Hey." Silver eyes shifted from face to face around the room, as for a brief moment he took in the present company and gathered his thoughts. "I'm eighteen. I smoke, play the piano, and have a knack for cold and heat." Perhaps that was uncalled for, but he couldn't help it. A fiendish grin parted his lips as the last bit of his introduction was meant as a thorn in the teacher's side. Payback.

With that, he returned to his seat; just as carelessly as he had done his introduction.

The tears kept coming nonstop, wanting to stop her tears, Calista just continued to sob but then something warm was placed over her eye. Her tears were being wiped away by a soft fabric, looking up to see Aleksander being the one to wipe her tears away. Her pale cheeks were tinted with a light pink hue, being helped by such a guy made Calista happy that he came to her aid. Letting him wipe all the tears away, he helped her up and tried to cheer her up, staring at him, her eyes glossily from tears.

Staring at him for a bit, Calista let out a "pft" and started to laugh, a true smile she was giving to the boy unlike the one she was trying to give earlier. The way his accent was and how he randomly asked to be her friend made Calista happy that he was in her class, wiping the remaining of her tears, she gave him a genuine smile in return of his kindness,"Thank you Aleksander." Calista said, not stuttering this time and nodded enthusiastically happy that Alksander wanted to be her friend,"I don't mind being Aleksander's friend! Thank you again Aleksander." Calista said and gave him a quick hug, not sure what to do to show how happy she was.

Letting him go, she quickly went back to her seat and sat down, waving at Aleksander. All her worries and embarrassment were all gone just from Aleksander's kindness, the blush still hung over her cheeks,"Such a sweet guy." Calista thought, praising him for his kind personality and from time to time glanced over at Aleksander's direction, a silly smile played at her lips. Her chest hurt and filled to the brim with sweetness, she couldn't describe what she was feeling but it was a nice, warm feeling, a feeling she would like to share with Shinji once classes were over.

Shinji chuckled deeply, taking Kuro back from Geno and placing him on his lap,"You're quite smart, yes, Kuro means black." Shinji said and looked down at Kuro with affection glinted in his amber eyes,"I named him that because of his fur of course. It's easier to remember too." Shinji explained the reason of the name,"Seems you have a tough life, to learn 18 languages, expected of rich folks." Shinji said, rolling his eyes a bit at Geno's comment.

Shinji knew that Geno wasn't trying to brag or anything but being told that he was from a rich family tipped Shinji off, not because he was jealous but because of a different reason. Memories of the past coming back into Shinji's mind, shaking the thoughts away,"They deserved it. It wasn't my fault." Shinji told himself over and over, calming his anger down. Looking back at Geno, he grin and waved him off when he was called up next,"Good luck." Shinji cheered.

"Miss. I think there might be something wrong to my well being". She looked to the teacher, seeing her concerned eyes and pulled her arm up to show the teacher. "I seem to be shaking in my hand. I also am having strange pains in my chest. I have thought about the infirmary but the hurt didn't seem to be physical but something....magical." Veronica made sure that the teacher would help her. Especially the healing and protection teacher.

Geno sighed and made his way to the front of the class. He muttered a thanks to Shinji as he passed him. He looked at the class with a bored facial expression. "Ugh.." He let out, before sliding a hand through his hair, moving the hair out of his face and assumed a more neutral expression. He grabbed his hands behind his back, and routinely started "My name is Geno Friar, 17 years old and from England." He stopped for a moment and tried to think of something else to say. When nothing came to mind he grunted "I can't take myself seriously... I enjoy long walks on the beach and dimly lit... Aaah never mind." He finished, and walked back to his seat to observe the birds flying around outside the window again.
