Peggy smiled sadly at him. A tear fell down her face and she wiped it away quickly. She didn't want to look weak in front of him.
"Hey Peggy?" Lafayette asked weakly, holding her hand. The morphine was taking effect.
"When did you first fall in love with me?"
Peggy thought back. Then a smile came on her face. "It was the third day of school. Alexander was ranting like only Alexander can... and you jumped in... you spoke about how unrest leads to anarchy... I already had a crush on you, but hearing you speak so eloquently and about something you care about... I fell head over heels."
"I'll be here when you wake."
Lafayette smiled, and held her hand.
"If I die, my only regret would be leaving you."
She struggled against it but she fell asleep.
"No, the train has been delayed for anther hour."
"Don't talk like that." Peggy whispered. "You aren't going to die."
Alexander smiled and kissed her cheek. When she was asleep, Alexander ended up writing an article for the school paper.

Eliza woke up after a few hours and looked over at him. She held his hand.
Alexander stopped writing and smiled a her. "Hey, love." He said gently.
"Don't talk like that." Peggy whispered. "You aren't going to die."
Alexander smiled and kissed her cheek. When she was asleep, Alexander ended up writing an article for the school paper.
"The train left.." Thomas yawned.
"But it's always a possibility." Lafayette said with a hopeful smile. "I love you.."
"Then I am taking the next one."
"Hi." she said softly. She looked at him and sighed softly. She was going to stay strong for him. She saw now how much he needed her.
"I love you too." She whispered sadly.
"How'd you sleep?" he asked gently.
"Okay." she said softly. She squeezed his hand. "I love you so much."
"I love you more." Alexander whispered.
She kissed his hand. She wanted to shower affection onto her boyfriend, trying to bury her own problems by helping others.
Alexander smiled gently, his free hand going to his stress ball and squeezing it tightly. "How do you feel?"
"Don't worry about me. I want to help you feel better."
"But it's always a possibility." Lafayette said with a hopeful smile. "I love you.."
"Then I am taking the next one."
Alexander squeezed the stress ball tighter, his knuckles turning white. "I'm on medication now. I'm okay."
"Clearly you aren't okay." she murmured. "Are you still going to move?" she asked, choking back tears at the thought of him leaving.
"I don't know. I have my psych evaluation at two..." Alexander looked at the ground. "I don't want to leave you like this."
"If you want to leave I won't stop you. I'm done being selfish." she said, a tear falling down her face.
