"Peggy is with Lafayette. She'll be up soon." Alexander comforted her.
She looked down. She didn't expect Peggy to come visit her after what she did.
Peggy came up about twenty minutes later. "Eliza?" Peggy said softly.
Eliza looked at Peggy. "Sissy..."
"Right here, Eliza." Peggy said softly. Her skin was paled and her eyes were tired. Two of the most important people to her had both been hit by cars, and it was taking a toll on her.
Eliza was crying. She reached out towards Peggy. Her baby sister. "I'm sorry sissy!"
Peggy hugged Eliza tightly. "Shhh... I'm here."
Eliza cried weakly. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" she repeated.
"It's okay." Peggy whispered.
She hugged her sister and wept. "I can't move or talk."
Peggy shook her head. Two of the four people she loved were hospitalized. "I still love you." Peggy whispered.
"Why?"
"Because you're my sister, and I'll always love you."
"But I'm bad. Bad sissy, bad girlfriend."
"you are a wonderful sister. You are the best sister. You are the best girlfriend. We love you."
She shook her head and cried. "No." A doctor walked in.
"Yes you are!" Peggy and Alexander said in unison.
The doctor told Eliza everything that was wrong with her. She would never walk or move properly again. She would always struggle to speak. Her eyesight may be damaged.
Peggy sobbed weakly. Alexander just held on to Eliza's hand tightly. This was too much for him.
Eliza sobbed as well. She would never have a normal life again. She looked at Alexander weakly and wept.
Alexander kissed her cheek lightly. "I'll always love you, Eliza." He whispered. "I promise you."
Eliza was utterly terrified that he would abandon her. If he left her for someone better she likely wouldn't recover. "Daddy?" she said softly, wanting Phillip.
Philip had gone to work, and Alexander frowned. "He'll be back soon, Eliza. He's at work." Alexander whispered to her.
"I want him." she cried. "I want him!"
"Shh, Eliza, shh now, he'll be here in a few hours." Alexander kissed her cheek.
