The Grand Fleet is a massive legion of space cruisers, billions of immensely powerful machines, each the size of a galaxy, all connected by a system of enormous bridges and elevators to create a tightly structured civilisation. Before the creation of the Grand Fleet, the universe was filled with life, spread out to every corner. Each planet had it's own unique civilisation, but they all had one thing in common, a great fear of "Bad Town", the centre of the universe. This fear was not based on any specific information, but simply the enormity of this dark planet, the unknown. Until, the birth of the Huntsman, the first beings to leave Bad Town in search for sustenance. At that time, the universe's fear became concrete.

News of the Huntsmen devouring planets spread throughout the universe, and civilisation as a whole began to break down. After millions and millions of years of the Huntsmen constantly feeding on the souls of Mortals, finally, the universe itself began to feel broken and unbalanced. With this, an event occurred, all at once, the souls of Mortals combined together to form new beings, Immortals. These beings had immense power, compared with the Mortals they were created from, but, it was still not even close to the strength of a Huntsman. As soon as the Immortals were born into this world, the Huntsmen could smell them, a new type of soul, a much larger, and more delicious one. Immortals were hunted down systematically and eaten by the Huntsmen.

In this new era of Immortals, opinions became divided, were Immortals a good thing for the universe, or were they a disease that needed to be wiped out? Many people believed that "God" created these Immortals in order to protect the Mortal race, but, others suggested that Immortals were mistakes, due to the pressure put on the universe, it was a natural reaction, like an immune system, but because the Huntsmen are completely unnatural, the Immortals did not serve their intended purpose, and should therefore be wiped out. To most people, Immortals were evil beings that locked billions of people out of their lives, just to serve as an easy target for the Huntsmen. The aggression towards Immortals grew over the years, until a group of Mortals decided to do something about the situation. They started an organization, based on science and respect for Mortal lives. They would go on to be called the "Sentinels".

Over many years, they attempted to increase the power of Mortal men, until, they discovered a way to increase the power within a soul. The organisation would demand that civilians donate a majority of their soul's energy, a pure, ancient energy, more powerful than any other, now known as "Aether", and have it injected into the Sentinel's souls using advanced technology. This would create "Artificial Immortals", that had power equal to that of an Immortal, but required no sacrifice of Mortal souls. As a result of energy loss, donators would show less emotion, until years later when their energy regenerates. The Sentinels were successful in wiping out the majority of all Immortals, and in doing so, greatly reduced the frequency of Huntsmen raids. They decided that an orderly, government driven society was the only defence against Bad Town. The Sentinels planned to create a mobile colony, with complete control over the universe, and also serving as protection from the Huntsmen.

Soon after, a "cleansing" took place, in which their giant space cruisers scoured the universe, drilling, salvaging, and destroying anything that got in their way, until they had acquired the necessary resources to create "The Grand Fleet". Today, the Grand Fleet travels around Bad Town, making sure that the Huntsmen don't leave, and keeping an eye out for new civilisations that may emerge and spawn Immortals, so that their cruisers can make quick work of any remaining Mortals that are not already part of their organization. This may seem like a safe and well-maintained society, but the Sentinels are not as they seem. After the removal of the Immortal population, the Sentinels were still not satisfied with their power levels.

To this day, they require energy donations from civilians to increase their power. Now, they are more than "Artificial Immortals". The small group leading this organization, have reached a higher level of power, on par with the Huntsmen they seek to destroy.

Grand Fleet Structure:

The map below is a rough desciption of the Fleet's structure, however, keep in mind that the scale is very large. The Control Section and Residential Area may appear close to eachother, but that are actually several lightyears apart.

Outer rim - The Fleet is surrounded by the "Outer Rim" a series of smaller starships that create a powerful shield, protecting the bulk fleet. Each of these starships are protected by security personnel, and if these starships are destroyed, the shields will be disabled.

Main Gunships - In the front section of the ship, there is a series of large gunships, that are used for mining resources and destroying planets. These ships are manned by military personnel, and overseen by a handful of Sentinels.

Security Halls - This is the second layer of defense, where soldiers guard the inner sections, and prepare to engage in battle. It consists of smaller starships, connected by intricate bridge and elevator systems, to allow for easy transportation when enemies are detected, soldiers will be able to reach the security breach easily.

Military Barracks - This is where military training takes place, and where soldiers come to rest or do other forms of work. There are also a few civilians that do work here, such as gunsmiths and other forms of construction, related to military hardware.

Residential Area - The most protected area of the Grand Fleet, where civilians go about their daily lives.

Control Section - A series of highly advanced ships that are responsible for maintaining much of the Grand Fleet's technology.

Commands Ships - These are the personal ships of the Sentinels, the Grand Fleet's core engine is hidden within one of these ships.

Walking down the pathway with her boots making a ringing sound each time they hit the floor, Cynthia observed the docking bay. Many men and women were similarly walking or running around with different ranks, from captains of ships to cargo lifters. White hair flowing behind her, Cynthia travelled past a couple ships. Mainly cruise ships, but there was a single other battleship next to the empty docks.

Cynthia folded her hands behind her back to help straighten her posture. She didn't want to seem unprofessional in front of others, especially in front of her new subordinates. Her assistant, who was following right after her, was holding a black briefcase. Inside that case were four different syringes containing Aether for the crew that were to be promoted. Cynthia heard that they fought a fierce battle, and it made perfect sense to reward them.

She came upon the empty dock that the ship was supposed to come into. Keeping silent with a straight face, Cynthia patiently stood still with her assistant on her right hand side. Now was the wait for the crew to arrive. Cynthia secretly hoped that they would be experienced and obedient to her, which they most likely will be since they were trusted enough to go explore the newly found region known as the Red Zone.

As Acantha's ship neared one of the numerous dockingbays of the Grand Fleets vanguard Fleet she yawned. Docking procedures are always so boring "we're almost there!" She typed a few things into the console. "This is scout Acantha preparing to dock in station 14, i have two other officers inside with me blah blah blah" the ship quickly veered into one of the smaller docks. Although, she seems to be going a bit fast.

When Acantha's ship arrived at the docking station, the starship seemed to go on red alert, alarms and sirens going off, activating a tracking beam that brought the ship safely down into hangar. "Acantha! We've already caused enough problems, we don't need you bothering the higher-ups even more." Theon pinched the bridge of his nose, pulling his cap back on and preparing to exit the ship, when he heard: "All recon squadrons are hereby disbanded, proceed to your nearest Captain in an orderly fashion." from the loudspeakers. He wasn't surprised, things were going to be very different around here, now that the Fleet is going on a major operation.

Her eyebrows furrowed in disapproval as the alarms set set off, signifying to the driver of the ship to slow down. Perhaps they weren't as professional as Cynthia thought. Not reacting in any other way, she stayed silent as the ship eventually landed in the docking bay. The assistant was notified of the message from the vanguard, and relayed that message to Cynthia. So, Acantha is the one driving the ship? pondered Cynthia in a rather negative tone after seeing the alarms set off. If she had the power, Cynthia would take away Acantha's promotion just for speeding into the dock. It was dangerous to go so quickly in, they could've crashed if they didn't have a good driver. But it was The Grand Fleet's orders to give them the syringes, so she wouldn't make any interventions. They should be coming out soon, as the speakers deigned.

As the ship got dangerously close Acantha slammed the breaks and did a few unusual maneuvers and did a dead stop at the exact destination. "Well that was fun wasnt it?" She jumped out of the cockpit and opened the ship doors walking out with a smug smile. The entire deck stared at her with distain as she walked non-chalantly through.

As soon as Cynthia caught sight of Acantha she knew she was not going to like her. The way she smiled and walked after almost destroying the ship was enough to put off Cynthia, not even an apology came out for setting off the alarms could help Acantha redeem herself. Even the people on the deck knew that the woman wasn't acting the way she should. But the way she managed to stop the vanguard did impress the captain. Making no expression to show her discontent with Acantha, Cynthia waited for her and the other crew members to come to her. Her eyes stuck onto the crew members, expecting them to come over in formation or at least with some recognition.

Theon crawled out of the ship, shaking his head. "Acantha!" He hissed, beckoning her to come back to him. "We need to see the Captain!" He looked over to see the woman, seemingly waiting. He recognized her, she worked in security in this parts, but he never spoke to her. He made his way over to the woman, hoping that his Gabriel and Acantha would be following behind him. Where they to be put on security duty? It'd be an interesting change of pace, for sure. He thought it'd be incredibly healthy for someone like Acantha. "Vice Captain of Recon Squadron, reporting for duty." He stated with a salute.

@Gabriel Forfax

By the time they got to the Grand Fleet, Gabriel covered her infected leg with a layer of bandages, not wanting to set off a biochemical alert before she makes it to the medic. Stepping out of the ship and feeling slightly dizzy from the maneuver, the Officer followed Captain Otrov, standing next to her superior as she saluted, ignoring the pain in her leg before a such important person. "Officer of the Recon Squadron, at your disposal".
@Cheryl

Acantha walked next to 'the Gabe' and gave a salute as well. "I'm with them" she pointed at the two. "Private Acantha of the 34th division of the recon squad." She gave a look at Gabriel's leg. "Shes injured."

Gabriel looks at Cynthia, quick to deny "It's not life threating, ma'am". The Officer stole a glance at people walking around them in two distinct, orderly directions, the sound of their boots echoing in the massive dock hall as they were going about their business.  A group of mechanics parted from the crowd, bypassing them as they were making their way to their ship that started up the alarm. There were so many people, one of them could accidentally brush against her leg enough to get infected, and because of that the Officer noted to herself to pay extra care.

She curtly nodded her head as each crew member said what rank they were, but simply looked at Acantha as she spoke of her position. At least the white haired woman saluted, it showed that she had some sort respect for her uppers. However she didn't exactly spoke the way she should've, forgetting the 'captain' or 'sir' at the end of her sentences. "Sheridan, Captain of Security." returned Cynthia, skipping out her first name. It was so that her subordinates didn't consider her as a friend, but look at her with more respect. She glanced at the officer, and took note of his injury. "As you heard, the Recon Squadrons have disbanded for now. You are a part of the security team for the while." she repeated, saying what the speakers in the ceiling have said.

The man on her right flicked open the briefcase and handed out a single syringe containing the clear Aether to each of the crew members. "As a result of your hard work you have each been promoted with a syringe of Aether." said Cynthia.

Acantha slumped at the news of becomign part of security. Great, static and boring. At least scouting is more unstable and fun. But then her expression turned back to attentiom as she heard the promotion part. Good thing i chose to be a scout, i doubt the other 'professions' would get me here this quickly. "Much appreciated ma'am" She slightly bowed and eyed the mechanics running by, that ship better be in one piece.

Theon nodded curtly and collected his syringe, it was a large metallic contraption, filled with a bright, glowing substance. This was the Armoured form, he assumed. After an injection this large, most Artificial Immortals would reach a new form. This would definately help with his combat efficiency. Though he wondered at which point he'd be able to use it, he had his doubts that the Immortal population would put up much of a fight, so he assumed the only fighting he'd be doing would be in the final strike against Bad Town. A part of him wanted his vengeance on the Demons, but he had to admit, Bad Town was terrifying. "I look forward to serving under you, Captain."

Acantha followed Theon grabbing the syringe and fighting the urge to use it at that moment and walked next to Theon examining every millimeter of the thing and completely disregarding the captains presence. "I wonder what my soul armor would look like" she said under her breath enough for him to hear. Then she shrugged the thought away and leg go of the syringe with it flying behind her and holstering it via string on her back somewhere.

Gabriel nodded at that, grateful for such an early promotion. Security team isn't as dangerous position as being in a reckon squadron, but it has its advantages. The Officer sought for more time to refine her skills, and with this movement closer to the Grand Fleet she certainly got it.
She made a step forward and took a syringe, remembering how scared she was of them as a child as she inspected it for a moment. Taking a step back she bowed slightly, recalling the face of the immortal that murdered their previous Captain as she spoke "I'll serve you to my dying breath, Captain".

After the crew members had inspected their syringe and done what they did with them, Cynthia saw that they were worn out and desperately needed some rest. They had just fought a fierce battle, of course they would have wounds and achy bones. "Go find the nearest medic and have them check up on you. For now you may rest, but you will have your patrols soon enough." ordered Cynthia, concerned about the officer's bandaged leg. If it was badly wounded or infected then he had to find medical help quickly or they might have to go to more extreme measures. As for the other two, their souls were most likely tired out and the security team can't have exhausted members. As for Cynthia herself, she'll just observe their personalities for now before assigning them their patrols.

The virus within Gabriel's leg had gone dormant at Nanautzin's command. Instead of spreading through the body and soul quickly it remained just within her leg burrowing deep into the flesh and soul energy. He had remained dormant while Nanautzin was recovering, but now that he was on the move again the virus 'woke' and began doing as it was programmed: spread, evolve, assimilate.

With the time it had to settle itself within Gabriel's the virus wouldn't be spreading through the surface of the viral membrane but through the blood and soul. Getting back to its purpose the virus feed on the soul energy within Gabriel's leg to spread throughout her body aiming to find the heart as quick as possible. From there the rest of the body would be easy. This move by the virus would bring immense pain, but other than a very sickly look there would be nothing to give away that something was happening.

@Gabriel Forfax

Theon tucked the syringe away in his coat, watching what the others were going to do with theirs. "Well, I think i've had enough time to recover. I'm going to explore this section of the outer rim, I haven't been here much before, so we'll need to get accustomed to it all." He looked over at Acantha, there was something in him that worried about her. Knowing the effects of Aether, there wouldn't be much time left for this Acantha that he knew. Things were going to be much more serious from here on out, and he didn't know if Acantha had it in her to go through with it. "You know, this is your last chance, Acantha, once you take that stuff, you'll lose a part of yourself. Of course, you'll gain a 'new' part, but.." He scratched his head, looking around. "Hm, it'll probably be good for you, really."

@Petroshka

Gabriel looked down at her syringe as Captain said so, pondering over the side effects. It took decades for her parents to smile again, but this put the Officer into a position of living that way for the rest of her life. Following the logic of Grand Fleet, she quickly concluded that she wouldn't be able to experience happiness with Immortals still being alive.
There's no better moment than now, Gabriel thought as she moved the syringe closer to her arm.

Acantha glaced at Theon with what could only be described as a little girls pouty face. "Well then i guess i'll just use it when i need it" then she looked at Gabriel. "Are you really sure about that?" She said in a almost mocking tone. "You'll probably forget that revenge plot for sir captain sir."

Theon nodded and placed his hand on Gabriel's shoulder. "I'd recommend keeping it as your last resort, Gabriel. It's a good way of making your opponent underestimate you, and then showing them your true power." He would do the same, it was definately a small advantage the artificials had over Immortals. While Immortal's transformations occured randomly, they could tactically choose when to make theirs.

Gabriel looked at the Captain, and nodded, finding it reasonable. The Officer lowered the syringe, placing it in the inner side pocket of her jacket. She stole a glance at Acantha as her voice was close to mocking, the young soldier almost flaring at her. "I've made that my mission, and I will fulfill it one way or another", the Officer replied, appreciating the comic relief and witty comebacks that the Spider Queen provided at vital moments, unfortunately this not being one of them
@Petroshka @Rurnur

Acantha stretched her arms. "Welp! Time to get some rest! Although are you sure you can get to the medbays with that leg by yourself gabe?" She started to walked toward the hanger doors. Pausing for gabriel to answer. Am i gaining a heart? She gave a small chuckle to herself and all for it to disappear.

Gabriel sighed as she said her farewells to the Captains, following Acantha like a puppy. "I guess that we're about to find-" , her sentence was cut off by her own scream, holding onto Acantha as the virus jump-started itself all of the sudden, starting to spread uncontrollably. "We need yo hurry..." , she seethes trough her teeth.
