Vulkan Lives
Primarch of the Salamanders
Name: Lanius (no this is not the legate from fallout)
Nickname: Dragon of Agnhiem
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Fandom: Dungeons and Dragons
Age: Early 30s
Gender/sexuality: Male, straight
Species: Dragonborn (D&D)
Appearence:
Personality: Lanius is a bold, usually kindhearted dragonborn. In his younger days, he was clumsy, awkward and even a bit shy at times, although he has mostly grown out of these, though he can still seem clumsy and bumbling at times. While not being a genius, he is also not the idiot he was when he first begun adventuring, having grown and matured much throughout his travels, partially due to experience and partially due to those of draconic blood typically being fairly wise. Often he is found protecting those too weak to do so themselves, though he has grown wise enough to encourage those very same people to learn how to defend themselves without him, even if he can't manage to teach them. Lanius is also incredibly faithful, and much like a dwarf, making friends with him grants you a friend for life, unless extreme circumstances force him to break that friendship. Lanius very often finds himself in the middle of one crisis or another, and these repeated trial by fires have taught him to be calm and collected in battle.
Backstory: Lanius is a rather peculiar case when it comes to dragonborns, having been born to a clan of black scaled dragonborn, practically the opposite of his golden scales, both in appearance and temperament. His mother would often tell him that he was shaped by the draconic gods in his egg, a lie to hide the truth of her being less than entirely faithful to her chosen mate. He was commonly the target of insults and bullying by his brothers and sisters, due to not only his radically different appearance, but also personality traits that, among those with black scales, would be considered stupidity and weakness, as blackscaled dragons are often sadists and liars, two things Lanius was not. As soon as he came of age, he left is clan, and began wandering, eventually coming into the employ of a duergar, a hill dwarf and a human, all of which were far from reputable. Those 3 were in turn, hired by a tiefling crimelord in the city of Agnhiem, and thus began his first great adventure.
Two years later, after the deaths of both the tiefling and duergar, and many other less important comrades, the group eventually split, after defeating a secret society within Agnhiem. By that point, Lanius had matured greatly, and was known throughout Agnhiem, becoming a local legend due to his incredible prowess in combat, and his noble behavior, especially in contrast to those around him. After that, he would find himself thrown into several more adventures, often times not even remembering how he first got involved, or if he was even in the same world anymore. Gladius seems no different to him in that regard, although its wonders are far beyond anything else he had ever seen.
Skills: Lanius is a monster in melee combat, towering over any non-augmented human by a very far margin. He is a skilled duelist, having his abilities honed by over a decade of constant battle against a wide variety of foes. He is able to wield weapons that men would need both arms to wield in one hand effectively, and on top of this, he is surprisingly quick on his feet, making him an incredibly dangerous opponent.
Powers: Lanius is unbelievably strong, being able to match all but the strongest, non-giant opponents he could come across in Gladius. On top of this, as a dragonborn, he can breathe out fire in a wide cone, scorching everything in his path should collateral damage become irrelevant. On top of this, he as gained another ability (this coming from a homebrew someone did in their campaign that he was in) that allows to shatter the ground beneath him, sending out a damaging shockwave to all in a 30 foot radius. This ability is extremely exhausting, meaning he can not use it more than once inbetween a long rest.
Weaknesses: Lanius lacks any ranged skill what so ever, and even if he were to pick up a gun, it would be nearly useless to him unless it was something suited to close range combat like a shotgun. His skill and knowledge with these weapons is so bad that he currently can not even reload a gun. On top of this, while he isn't an idiot, he is no Thrawn, and can be outsmarted by more clever and experienced fighters, so long as they can survive the opening moves of the fight.
