"I may be... Forceful, but that doesn't mean I want to watch over the two of you every waking second." Halciet explained. "To be fair, what's not to gain? I'll even offer my vampires as soldiers to Callum's army if he'd ever need them."

Emmalia thought about it for a few moments. What was there to lose? She could have good human blood whenever. She could be with Callum. He would be safe. Their kingdom would be safe. But What about if Halciet decided he didn't like sharing her? The moment she let her guard down, he would capture her again. "I don't think I trust you," Emmalia said finally.

Halciet stepped closer. "I would have nothing to gain from that, my Emmalia. I assure you I have no problem fulfilling every aspect of the deal." He stepped close up to her. "Accept my offer Emmalia."

Emmalia looked down at the floor in thought. Halciet was a dangerous and terrifying man, not to be defied. So the fact that she managed to swiftly bring her sword up and gut him when he was so close was quite impressive.

Halciet had so much belief in himself that he was still smiling when Emmalia dug her sword into him. Only a moment later did he realize what had happened, and his grin went away. He dropped to his knees, barely able to make a sound as he collapsed to the ground in front of Callum.

With Halciet practically defeated, there was nothing left for Emmalia to fear. She pulled her sword out of his gut and cut off his head, then went on to stab his body out of frustration. She heard movement on the stairs leading to the dungeon, and grabbed another sword before running to attack the incoming guards.

Callum felt completely useless in his current state. He wanted to help Emmalia but by the way they let his blood just flow, it was like his veins and arteries needed time to dust off after such a lack of blood.

Emmalia was on a rampage. By the time she somewhat came to her senses, she had killed most of the guards and a large number of the healers. She stumbled down the stairs and to Callum's side, then sat down heavily next to him and rested her head on his shoulder. She was too exhausted to move much more for the moment.

Callum wasn't faring much better than Emmalia, and could only rest against her as well. "Please tell me..." He said, seemingly out of breath. "You're okay." That was the only thing he cared about.

Callum nodded, knowing he needed a bit to recover too. He could actually feel his blood refill his arteries, it was unnerving to him. "Did he hurt you?"

They rested down there for what could have been an hour, could have been three hours, there was no way to tell. Finally, Em got up and freed the human prisoners, then helped Cal stand.

Callum slowly stood with Emmalia, trying his best to support himself although he had much trouble. When they got out to the courtyard, Callum said, "I don't think I can walk all the way back."

"I'm sure there's carriages and horses here..." Em said.

Two of the men who had been captive approached them. "You, vampire. We'll help him, since you saved us. Where shall we take him?"

Em hesitated, then said, "Can you get him to a carriage? We need to go to Cross Castle."

Callum felt odd trusting these strangers to help, even if they were on the same side. Everyone recently had wanted something from him, but he hesitantly went with the other humans to be brought to a carriage not too far away.

Emmalia followed to the carriage, then informed the men, "If you come to Cross Castle in the coming weeks, we will give you much to help you rebuild your lives." The men smirked at each other and said, "We're going to raid this place, and that should be more than enough. Thank you, though."

Em and Cal started the journey back to the castle, with the two of them sleeping most of the journey.

They exchanged very little dialog between themselves. It was a trip mostly just to relax from their constant anxiety for a while. When they got back to the castle, Callum had enough strength to at least walk on his own. Once there, a guard came up. "Sir, thank god your safe! We had no leads as to where either of you went."

Emmalia hid her face under the large hood of a cloak. "Guard, summon a healer and Lady Camilla to our room, immediately. Put the castle on high alert, in case of an attack. Be swift, I beg of you."

The guard nodded, "Yes, m'lady." He went off to send out the message to his men. Meanwhile Callum and Emmalia marched to their room, where Callum collapsed on the bed. The first one to arrive was Camilla - who was mortified by the sight of them,

"Oh gods, what happened to you two?" She asked, coming up to inspect her brother, and then Emmalia.

Em let Camilla push back her hood and reveal all the new wounds to her face, and the slice across her neck. "A lot.... A lot has happened to us," she mumbled, then sat on the bed next to Callum.

Camilla wasn't sure what to say, and only gasped. "You, what... Who did this to you? Is that why the guards are all setting up? Is something attacking us?"

"I think I killed most of them," Emmalia said. "I killed their leader, and most of his upper ranks. I dont remember much." Camilla would surely recognize that Em was on human blood.

Camilla nodded slowly. She had guessed the second she came in that Emmalia was on human blood, but didn't know if Callum knew anything about it, so she made no comment. Soon the healer entered and began to work on Emmalia first.
