Fantasy Gehenna

Gideon shouted "NO!" But it was too late. As Jazmyne's hand went out into the snow, the force of the storm had caused it to suffer massive amounts of deep lacerations. Gideon had pulled Jazmyne away from the entrance of the cave before her hand could be ripped off. Gideon put Jazmyne down next to Rhialla. The cave began to get dark and sinister as Gehenna shook, "Did I not make it clear.... when I said not to go outside of the cave.....?" He asked Hachi. "If I did, then why did you allow Jazmyne to do what she did?" Gideon glared at her. The entire mountain continued to shaking, rocks falling from the top of the cave they were in.

Rhialla was already tearing strip from her clothes and bandaging the wound tightly on Jazmyne's hand and just hoping it was enough. "Is there anything else we can do? We have two injured children dammit!" She asked Gideon, the fire in the room grew brighter and more fierce and Rhialla took a deep breath to calm herself.

Hachi watched in her familiar impassive way as Gideon grabbed the child and sat her down by Rhialla. As the mountain trembled, keen blue eyes turned on Gideon cold and even. The scent of fresh blood was sharp to her sensitive nose. Inky crimson energy rolled more heavily about the tips of her ears, long thick tail lashing slowly.

"I was not aware that it was my job to play babysitter... Children are prone to do as they will with little regards to risk... It is not my task to ensure their safety..."

As she spoke she moved closer to the cave entrance peering at the snow that seemed to be falling with impossible force. A distant look characterized her expression a sign that she was lost in thought, once again having withdrawn slightly into her own mind.

"Either way if you wish for the children to survive this it is not like they will not know pain... It is good for them... Pain teaches...motivates... It is pain that compels us to live to try harder...to fight..."

As she spoke she lifted a hand nimble digits gently reaching forward. Slowly she allowed the snow to fall across her fingertips and hand, the sharp scent of blood growing. Soon enough she had extended her arm up to the elbow past the cave entrance.

"Without pain... There is nothing at all..."

The woman glanced at Gideon a wry half smile playing on her lips as she pulled her arm back in. The snow had shredded through her skin and all but ripped apart the glove that covered her hand. Blood dripped profusely from the limb. Despite the severity of the injury Hachi felt nothing. She never did. Her eyes flashed Crimson as in mere seconds flesh and muscle reformed, restoring her arm to its original state.

Interesting...

Rin , being curled up on the ground, cringed. Blood, blood everywhere. Screaming, yelling, her father shunning her, her mother on the ground in a pool of blood. A blurry imagery. Herself being seen holding an object with bloodied hands. Immediately after the image sat for a few seconds, Rin shot up from her sleep, shoving herself back up against the wall of the cave. Her heart was racing, sweat dampening her forehead, wuth crazed, fear-stricken irises staring at the area in front of her. She hadnt quite yet noticed the sudden changes in the environment, and thus sat silently trying to piece together what she had seen.

Gideon glared at Hachi. He grabbed onto her by the neck and lifted her up, "If any of you are to survive, you better play babysitter with each other!" Gideon slammed her against the wall of the cave before throwing her against another wall. His hands glowed crimson from negating any resistance Hachi might have from taking any damage. He walked over and stomped onto her, keeping her in place. "You all have a responsibility towards each other! Each person here is the only thing between you and the worst death you've ever experienced." Gideon turned his attention back to Hachi. He was using his own power to keep her a mere human, "Ashuraka was a man of justice and compassion towards those he cared about. You will use that with these people and ignore the fact that the souls in them are Ashuraka's enemies. Just as they will do the same with you. Am I clear?" Gideon pressed down harder on her with his foot.

"Pain in Gehenna is not like pain in the real world." He was now by the fire, away from Hachi. He allowed her powers to come back to her. "Pain in Gehenna does not make you stronger nor does it teach you anything. Pain in Gehenna is something you should all avoid as much as possible. Your body will never naturally heal in Gehenna. Some of you can in fact heal others, you just haven't learned it yet. You will learn how to do so or you will fail and lose your lives." He sat down. "I don't care how you feel, you are all best friends from here on out. Every single soul here was family. So put aside the negativity you might have for each other." Gideon put his hand on Jazmyne's head and a gold glow covered the child. Jazmyne healed completely after a moment, Gideon removing his hand.

For the first time since awakening Hachi smiled, the expression almost foreign on her face. There was a soft popping as the bones in her chest shifted. A light airy sound filled the air as the woman laughed, her arms stretched out on the cool stone floor. Her pale skin was fluoresced with faint bruises from being tossed and slammed about, but she seemed amused rather than angered.

"Family...? Friends...? Survival...? I don't give a damn about any of that or any of this... Everything aside from the objective is pointless..."

She chuckled pushing herself upright before slowly rising to her feet. She cracked her neck, rolling her shoulders as her body healed once more. Shrewd crimson eyes locked on to Gideon, a smile playing across her lips that flashed sharp canines.

"Next time you wish to have a temper tantrum throw it at someone who cares... Or someone who can feel it... Oh...and one more thing... It seems that pain in Gehenna is not something to be avoided...rather it is all that moves this place... The fear of pain...the desire to end it... But why should I waste my breath expecting you to understand..."

Elijah stepped into the cave from the storm, "Because he is correct about it all..." He stared down at them all. "You will be the first to die with such an attitude." Elijah made the cave seem much much bigger and more open. Glyphs began to form around him. "Lets see what you're made of..." He laughed evilly.

Jazmyne's eyes went wide, looking at Gideon then at Elijah. She tilted her head, but yet had no fear. She slowly got closer to the man, Elijah and smiled. She sat on the floor, and looked up at him with innocence.

Otoko was staring at the wolf lady, and Gideon fight, when a voice floated in from the front of the cave. It was a man with words floating around him, and it seemed he was egging for a fight. Otoko suspected Gideon was going to leave them to this challenge by themselves, as he had left them with the other warrior that attacked him. He moved slowly in front of Rin and summoned his sword, standing in a defensive posture. Now that he was attached to this girl, he wouldn't let her get harmed by some "magician".

"If I am defeated then Death is welcome to take me... It will be a welcome change..."

Hachi grinned cracking her knuckles as she stared at the form that had entered the cave. Her eyes seemed to glow brighter as she uttered a slow rumbling growl from deep in her chest. She bared her fangs at the figure taking a small step forward before she realized that the child was in front of her staring up at Elijah.

The child was fearless, that much she could say for certain and almost seemed oblivious to both pain and danger. It was interesting to say the least. Kairo stood next to the child growling, sensing Hachi's desire for him to guard the child.

"Ah but we can't fight inside Gehenna can we... At least that is what you said was it not...Gideon..."

Rhialla moved Kaname's head from her lap slowly and set it onto the ground gently. She stepped around and in front of her, her hand reaching for her swords only to come up empty and she snarled at Elijah. She wasn't sure if she could summon that whip from before again but she certainly had built up some semblance of her normal strength due to the fire that was still burning. She drew on it more now and it began to flicker dangerously, the light in the cave dimmed and the rubies that ran across her neck and left cheek began to glow a bright red, her soulstone, the largest and brightest, was also now the most obvious.

Even without Lilith's power Rhialla would be faster and have a lot more stamina but she certainly wasn't invincible. Still she planted her feet firmly onto the ground and stood tall, no matter what she'd protect the group, especially the youngest. "Gideon? Please tell me we can fight." She glanced at him through her peripheral vision, her voice was unsure but strong.

(The dice have been rolled. Elijah successfully casts his spell. You have all failed to resist his trance.)

Elijah put them all in a trance, connecting them all mentally. "Gideon is right we cannot fight in Gehenna, but this doesn't count exactly." With everyone in one massive room with more than enough fighting space for them all, Elijah's glyphs continue floating around him. He had placed everyone at least twenty feet away from him as he stood there. "When you defeat me, I will leave you all and allow you to continue on your journey."

He remained there, waiting for them to attack.

(Combat has been initiated, the dice are on standby. You cannot claim you have landed an attack, you can describe the attack and have your character initiate it. Depending on the roll, you will see the effects of your attack on your victim.)

Gideon was of course left there as everyone fell asleep to enter the mental connection. Jazmyne was the only one who was not effected due to the soul she had inside of her. It was almost as if Jazmyne had no need to abide by the laws of reality. He wasn't surprised, all he did was walk over and pick up the innocent looking toddler. "Aww you're just so cute." He smiled, pinching her cheek softly. "Do you wanna stay here with papa or go with your friends and play?" He asked her, still holding and smiling at her.

Rhialla blacked out for a second, her mind was filled to the brim and she held the urge to scream. It was like her very being was being stretched and pulled, like at any second she would snap but she maintained that state, her mind being stretched to it's limits. She slowly opened her eyes and groaned, pushing herself off the ground, she glanced around and saw Jazmyne safe with Gideon and relief swept through her momentarily. Kaname was still behind her and it seemed that the others hadn't regained consciousness....yet. For now she was relatively unaffected by the mental connection due to the lack of consciousness of the others and she summoned her whip, hoping it would work here.

When the leather formed in her hands she grinned and stepped forward letting the tip of it catch on fire and climb up the whip's surface until it encased her hand in flames. She took a deep breath and focused on the flames, trying to make them hotter, larger and she pulled her arm back before flicking it forwards with her wrist. She aimed several fireballs towards Elijah and attempted to wrap the whip around his arm. If it worked, hopefully he would catch fire, otherwise she would need to find some way to unattach it before he could yank her towards him. It was times like these that Rhialla wished she had her dual swords.

(Gideon and Jazmyne are the only ones not in the trance. So they are not linked with the others, they are awake in the cave.)

(The dice have been rolled. Attacker is successful!)

Elijah's glyphs were able to protect him from the fireballs, seven glyphs still floating around him. Rhialla's whip wrapped itself around Elijah's arm, upon doing so his dark robes caught fire. Elijah jerked his arm at the whip, attempting to pull Rhialla forward and onto the ground.

She grins at her success and begins to stumble with Elijah's pull, her first reaction is to roll forwards with the whip to loosen it's hold on his arm. She leaps forward and manages to regain control of her whip, springing back onto her feet steadily and whirling the whip around to keep momentum. Within seconds she thinks of what to do next and grins sadistically.

She steps forward and tries to wrap the whip around Elijah's neck to strangle him. If the maneuver worked she would try and encase her whip in flames again, melting the skin around her whip. "I could get used to this." She mumbled to herself, momentarily forgetting the reason she was fighting in the first place.

(The dice have been rolled. Attacker is successful!)

Elijah's eyes widened as the whip suddenly wrapped itself around his neck. The flames burst stronger than Rhialla expected. Elijah's form dissipated slowly as he was defeated. Elijah broke them out of the trance and grunted as he came back to the real world. He stepped back slowly, entering the storm and vanishing in the blizzard.

Gideon saw the Elijah was defeated and he raised an eyebrow, truly impressed. He looked over at Rhialla, seeing her come to sooner than the others. "That was damn impressive..." He chuckled.

Rhialla huffed and slumped to the ground, her heart hammering in her chest. The light of her rubies dimmed and her whip dissipated for the moment. She looked up to Gideon and smiled weakly."Thanks...is everyone else okay?" She remembered the others and was by Kaname's side in a flash, for some reason she's grown attached to the helpless girl. Her eyes were drawn next to Otoko and she let out a breath she hadn't known she'd been holding. "Thank the heavens everyone seems okay." She mumbled softly.

Gideon looked around, "Yeah you all just passed out." He chuckled. Gideon was petting Jazmyne at the moment. He seemed to care for her more than any of the others. He looked back at Rhialla, "So, tell me what happened. How did you defeat Elijah so fast?" Gideon scooted closer to Rhialla. He figured the others were fine and would wake up on their own time.

"I....I don't know. Something came over me, it was just like...like I could take on anything, do anything I wanted. It was amazing." Rhialla told him, a smile creeping onto her face at the memory. Rhialla certainly felt strange after the battle, it was like she was too tight in her own skin, stretching it out from the inside. Absentmindedly she scratched the skin of her chest and blinked for a moment. "I just knew what to do and how to do it. It's like...I was someone else." Her eyes widened and she looked down at her hands. Were these the changes Gideon had spoken about before? Who was she? She certainly wasn't the same person who'd woken up on the side of a mountain, shivering and alone.

Hachi rolled onto her palms pushing herself up and moving blankly towards the cave entrance. Silver fur spread along her neck and back, moving down to her arms as she leaned out the cave door her body convulsing as she heaved into the snow. Her head was pounding from the intense invasion that had been being linked mentally to both that creature and the others. Sinking to her knees she heaved again, claws scraping across the stone as her frame trembled slightly. She hated it when anything happened that let anyone else inside her head. Panting she spit into the snow, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand.

Gideon watched as Hachi went out into the storm. Seeing someone basically get ripped to shreds and regenerate rapidly the way she did actually threw Gideon off a bit. "The further we go the more you will understand. I think we should all just get some rest. Hachi, come back in here before you kill yourself. You're wasting too much energy." Gideon lied down beside Rhialla with Jazmyne and Rin. The heat kept everyone in the cave warm.

(There will be a time skip within twelve hours. Make whatever posts you want until then. Once the time skip happens it shall be morning. And yes the storm can still rip you apart until that time)

Rhialla was beyond exhausted and before she even had the chance to lie down she had fallen unconscious. Her whole body was burning up and anyone who wasn't immune to fire would burn their skin with just a touch. Her breathing was laboured and her heart hammered in her chest. To everyone else it seemed like she had a fever but in actual fact she was only regaining her strength, she'd pushed it to the limit by saving everyone. She was positioned uncomfortably, her neck in an awkward position and her arm beneath her, she wouldn't feel in the morning for a while if she stayed that way. Nevertheless she slept, dreaming of unknown, yet familiar faces and hazy images that just blurred together.

Gideon heard Rhialla fall down. He reached over and moved her over so she would be in a comfortable position with Rin. Gideon continued resting, hoping everyone else would find some kind of peace during the night.

"Death would be a relief..."

The female retreated back into the cave collapsing and curling up on her side. Shoving a hand into the pouch on her hip she removed a small round blue capsule, popping it into her mouth and biting down on it. As she swallowed the pill Kairo came to snuggle against her, licking her cheek a few times.
