Realistic or Modern Foster Life

".. okay, Amanda... if your baby is born today, that'll make it a birth after approximately thirty-two weeks of pregnancy which is decent - anything below thirty weeks is usually a lot worse and brings on a lot more problems. The baby may not be fully developed, but when it's born it'll be moved into a different section of the hospital and placed into an incubator where he or she can be monitored..." He'd pause for a moment while he scribbles down the details Amanda provided him with. "Thankfully, at this time, the survival rates of infants born after thirty weeks is around the ninety-two percent mark, so I can assure you you have nothing to worry about, as long as it's a steady and monitored delivery everything should go just fine." He says to her reassuringly, looking up at her for a moment and giving a smile.

The doctor is a man perhaps in his mid-to-late thirties - he has pure black hair with hints of grey within it; he keeps himself well-presented and clean, which would obviously be required for working in such a place. He seems like a friendly enough person, but also seems to look quite 'on-guard' and stern most of the time.

**

Jackson would have calmed down fully at this point and merely stays clung to Jack's side, peering over and watching him work through the paperwork in silence, giving the occasional sniffle and wipe of his nose with his forearm. He's not as fidgety as he was before, and now only occasionally moves to stretch his leg or scratch and itch on his body.

(I'll use the '**' to signify a change of what character I'm describing for the time-being to avoid any confusion. As Jackson is in the waiting room with Jack, you can also see the asterisks as a hint for a change of scene as well - this is only to help the RP stay dynamic for those that are involved, but also won't cause too much of an issue in understanding what's going on.)
(Updated. Explained some things above.)

Amanda nods her head and takes a deep breath, hoping that if the baby is born, it'll be fine. "How long will my baby have to stay here if he/she is born early?" She questions, hoping that it didn't have to stay here long.

"It depends on their condition. At most a couple of weeks." He returns, nodding at her. "Let me know of any changes you feel. Do you have any family here with you?" He asked.

Amanda nods her head and points to Wendy. "That's my foster sister, and my foster dad is filling out paper work in the waiting area with my foster brother." She states and groans softly as she gets another contraction.

"Okay. Good. Those contractions feel any different or is it the same feeling?" He asks, scribbling down yet more details onto the paper. He'd soon walk around and wheel some machines over. He'd hook her up to the machines, doing his best not to be too rough in doing so.

"These are just to monitor your heart rate, pattern, and blood pressure if we end up doing a c-section." He explains simply to her.

[QUOTE="Aryn Harris]Amanda nods her head."They feel a little bit more painful..." She murmurs, rubbing her stomach gently.

"Notify me of any bleeding or excessive pain. If the contractions get any closer together and the waters don't break we may have to go ahead with the procedure." He says to her. "Would you like a drink?" He asks her.

He'd turn to one if the of the nurses and nods to her. "Nurse, please get Amanda a glass of water." He says to her. She nods and wanders off to a separate room. She soon comes back and hands the glass off to her, smiling.

"Thank you..." She says softly, taking a small sip of it. She tenses slightly as she has another contraction and she sets the water down on a near by table.

"Are your contractions getting closer together?" He asks her, glancing around the room and then to Wendy, followed by looking back to Amanda.

Amanda nods her head slowly, biting her lower lip. "I think my water just broke..." She says, getting slightly panicked again as she feels wetness seep down her thighs.

"Alright! There may be no need for a c-section in that case. Nurse! Get everything ready!" He yells to the nurse, she would nod and help to get Amanda ready. She'd move Amanda into a more suitable position for delivery. The doctor gets the appropriate tools on a nearby table on wheels and brings it to the bedside. "We'll wait until you're ready, stay calm. Amanda. We're all here to help you through the delivery." He says to her, giving a confident nod.

The Nurse did everything to get Amanda ready to deliver her baby. Wendy did start feeling overwhelmed, going as far as even questioning the doctor in charge. However, he knew more then her...or at least should. Has Amanda even fully dilated yet? Well, obviously Wendy was going to look down there because knowing her, she might faint. Isn't there any medication that can stop premature labor, accelerate the development of the baby's lungs even? Wendy didn't exactly what to do. 'Oh c'mon, I should know these things...' she thought to herself. She then grabbed on to Amanda's hand.

The doctor would proceed onwards by putting on some gloves and checking all the main areas. Would she be fully dilated at this point?

(I'm not exactly in the position to decide the status of your character, lol, tell me how it is and I'll take it from there.)

Amanda nods her head, and watches the doctor and nurse. She squeezes Wendy's hand tightly and breathes heavily.

(Uhm.... 9 centimeters?)

"Near enough fully dilated. Nine centimetres. Amanda, do you feel ready to go ahead with the delivery?" He asks her, readying himself for her answer. A midwife would join them and also ready herself.

Because of how tightly her hand got squeezed, Wendy gasped in pain. Oh well, at least Amanda wasn't berating her, hitting her and pulling on her hair. "Oh, for the love of god..." she cried.

The doctor would stand there and wait until Amanda is fully dilated and would then turn to the midwife who takes the precautions of running some checks on Amanda such as checking Amanda's vitals. She'd look up at her after a few moments and speak to her.

"Okay, Amanda. We're ready to start now. When you're ready I need you to keep up the deep breaths and begin pushing, okay?" She says to her.

Amanda nods her head slowly, and takes deep breaths. As soon as she's ready enough and begins to push, screaming out in pain, and squeezing Wendy's hand even tighter.

Thank god Jackson couldn't hear her screaming. He's begun to panic again and it's not hard to imagine how he'd react if he heard her screaming in agony. Jack may want to do something to keep him calm.

"Keep going, Amanda! You're doing well! Keep going! Deep breaths!" The midwife shouts, continuously checking for any progress on the delivery.
(Anyone around?)

(Sorry. Had to go and get my High School schedule.)

Amanda nods her head, breathing heavily. She takes another breath before pushing again.

"Just keep the breathing steady, Amanda. Push whenever you're ready... We're getting closer now." She says to her calmly, continuously checking on how close she is to delivering the baby. Meanwhile, Jackson finds himself in a state again. He pulls away from Jack and leans forward, covering his hands with face, his eyes tearing up again.

"Keep going, Amanda. You're doing well, we're getting closer. Keep your breathing steady and push when you're ready." She says calmly to her. Meanwhile, Jackson would have pulled away from his foster father and would be leaned over forward, his face covering his hands while his tears wet his cheeks.
After several more minutes of pushing, if Amanda was to do so, the midwife would look up at Amanda, seeming slightly overwhelmed by the urge of the situation but also smiling at her.

"Doing well, Amanda! I can see the head now! Deep breaths!" She calls out to her, her voice slightly shaky although she's managing to keep herself together.
(Anyone around for some rp continuation before I go to bed?)
