Forbidden Love (Dreamer)

((Lol I know, it was just icky xD ))

I looked at Izabelle when the doors opened, offered her my arm, and waited for Mother's cue to start walking. They would follow shortly behind. The people were all watching, so I smiled a little and put a hand over my sister's on my elbow, and made sure I made eye contact with all the right people, for precisely how long I should. It was a game of power and influence, these 'social' balls, and I had learned the rules over the years. It was intriguing and thought provoking, in theory, but in person I didn't like it. I didn't like that people had to play these wicked games with each other, and I didn't like that we had to go and greet the duchess first.

Izabelle-

"Well, aren't you two darling tonight" the duchess cooed. It was more then difficult to not make a face. I curtsied for her, and she grinned, "Did your mother teach you that> Precious" She cast a glance at Mother, who only nodded. I shrugged it off and went as I should. But as we passed, she laughed quietly, "Your parents know this date very well"

((The night they ran))

Reven-

I smiled and said thank you when I had to, gave a little now but just looked after her, puzzled, when she walked away. I looked at Izabelle, knowing she wondered what that meant as much as I did, then shook my head and continued on. It sounded strange, ominous almost, but we had other things to do. "Come on, Iz." I said softly, patting her hand. "Let's go see the baron." He was next on the list.

IZabelle-

I made annoyed noises under my breath. These awful things were boring! As we reached the Baron, I heard other behind us coughing, and sword being taken out of sheaths, "Wha...?". The duchess was within a cloud of green and black smoke, cackling.

"Oh, how nice to be in the castle again!" she stated. But she was no longer the duchess. A woman that was tall, with black hair and dark, flashing eyes.

"My darling Azyala, how nice for you to throw a ball for your mother!"

Reven-

Father wasnt really allow to carry a sword anymore, since he wasnt a knight, but he still put Mother behind him and stood his ground. I looked at Izabelle and quickly started to pull her away, not knowing what was going on. If we could get to a weapon, that would be good, otherwise, we were out of here. We could call in reinforcements.

((Gtg))

((Waaaah))

Izabelle-

I pulled away from him, "Wait! Who is it? Rev-" But he kept pulling, not caring that something was actually happening for once. I stumbled along behind him, arching my neck until I couldn't see the scene anymore. As we went farther into the hall, the guards swarmed past us, either heading to the ballroom, or blocking the doors. When we reached a room, there were several screams heard, and a yelp of, "She's gone!"

The room we were in filled with the smell of burnt pine, and the smoke seemed to seep from the walls, "I know what you found children. You've helped me so very much. Now the Elfins shall be mine!"

((Elfins? xD ))

Reven-

I almost panicked, and backed up with Izabelle behind me, an arm close to her to guard her as best I could, and drew a knife from my boot that I wasnt supposed to have. "Who are you?" I demanded sharply, looking back and forth but seeing nothing but that smoke. "What do you want with us?" Mother and Father were safe, that was good, but now it seemed we were stuck and all I could see was the smoke. What was going on? Where was Uncle Favian when we needed him?

((Idk. My brains cracked out on sunshine and health people cookies))

Izabelle-

I hated how Reven always protected me, I can do that very well myself, thank you! Almost ironically, I slipped a matching blade out of my own boot, opposite side he'd had his on. Pounds were heard at the door, "Mother! You let them be!" I turned to it,. confused, "So that means you're our grandmother?" The voice laughed, "Why yes, darling. Don't your parents tell you anything?" And with a flash, the smoke and voice were gone, and Reven and I were alone.

((lol It's just elves. Or the elvish))

Reven-

I felt a twinge of pride when Izabelle brought out a knife of her own, glanced at her and hoped she would see it before I had to look back again. She was best with a bow, after all, and I always felt like close combat was my area, so when something like this happened I always tried to be first. It was instinct, after all, since I trusted her to have my back even with a weapon she didn't actually have.

Mother was shouting from beyond the door, though, and the smoke was gone as fast as it had come, and the doors slammed open shortly after, splintering in places with the force of the lock being broken. "Father?" He and Mother ran up to us, and I put a hand on his arm when he held my elbow, steadying myself. "What . . . What just happened?"

Izabelle-

Mother held me in a crushing embrace, muttering curses to herself. When she finally released me, she turned to Father, "We're leaving"

"W-What?" I said, still in shock

"We're leaving" she repeated, "The castle is no longer safe. The cabin, Merrick?"

Reven-

Father was nodding and waving the guards away, instructing them to search the entire castle and bring Uncle Favian to us. "You're right, Azyala. Until everything here is secured, we have to go. It's still protected."

I looked between them, confused and worried. "L - Leave home? But why? Where's safer than here?" There were guards everywhere! Bt . . . But I guess Izabelle and I did manage to sneak past them on a regular basis. "Will Rallek and Uncle Favian come with us?" They had to! We couldn't leave them behind!

Izabelle-

"Yes," Mother said, already starting to pack things in a bag she had at her side. "The cabin has the necessities, pack whatever else you believe you'll need."

I looked around quickly, almost at a loss. We'd never really left without packing entire carriages behind us. "Uhhhh," I grabbed Reven's hand, "Good?"

Reven

I looked at Izabelle and nodded. "Good. . . But let's get your bow, and my sword." I didn't want to leave it behind. What if we needed to defend ourselves? Even if it was safe, what if there were animals there?

Izabelle and I hurried out with our hands still linked to go and get our things, and I looked at her with slightly wide eyes as we went, speaking in hushed tones. "Maybe we'll get to ride Rallek!"

((Way to be optimistic Reven!!))

Izabelle-

I perked up then, "That... Would make things better". When we had our things, Mother herded us into the stalls. She paused for a moment before mounting behind Father, "This is all too the same"

((Lol he tries))

Reven-

I pulled up easily onto my horse as Izabelle got on hers with Uncle Favian - we couldn't really afford to take more than three. We'd had to change even, into dark commoner's clothes, and Rallek had already been sent up into the skies ahead of us to keep an eye on our progress. As we started off, I tried to keep close to Mother and Father, tried to hear what they were saying.

"I know," he said as we left. "I know. . . We got past it then. We'll do it again." I wasnt sure I wanted to know what 'it' was.

Izabelle-

The look in Mother's eyes turned my stomach, "But who will protect them, as we run in fear?" I realized then she was talking about the people of the kingdom. I had no idea she cared so much. She was far different then any other ruler, but to honestly care about their well-being? It was almost unheard of

Father was shaking his head, and the look in his eyes reminded me of when Izabelle and I were just little children, when the warrior in him was still strong enough to show through the things that made him our Father. He'd softened after us, Mother had said long ago, and now his eyes looked hard again, his grip on the reigns so tight I thought they might break.

"We will not run for long." He said, releasing his grip with one hand to rest if over hers. "We will regroup, and we will return." Without us, I thought, and it was one of the most unpleasant things I'd thought in years.

Izabelle-

I'd fallen into a light sleep on the way, but then felt Favian shake me lightly. "We're here" he said. I opened my eyes to see a simple cabin, with something written above the door way ((Which Dreamer can't remember. Something about good hearts)).

"It's... Pretty" fell from my lips. I turned to see Mother looking at Father in a way she did when he'd done something sweet. "It's the most beautiful place in the world," she whispered, kissing his cheek.

((I like that they'll leave the twins. More time to go find elves!))

((I think it was something like "only the purest of hearts can enter." I don't know. Something like that. But I believe it was on a wooden arch over the road in))

Reven

Father smiled a little, which made me feel slightly better, and then Rallek roared unrestrained from above us and I could see his dark scales shoot by - which made me feel even more like this wasn't such a tragedy. This place was incredible, all unexplored forest and new spaces and freedom. A place we wouldn't be watched every second of the day. A place where we could be as we pleased and not have to put on fake faces for others. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad here.

((lol Time to find Hyrule!! Aaand that's only funny if you play Zelda games -_- ))

((... Blank. Totally blank. I don't play video games, period. I just get mad and then quit. It's baaaad))

Izabelle-

Once inside, I wanted to take it all in. The gorgeous wood, the tables and chairs, the hallways, the windows. A glance behind me revealed Mother, standing in a doorway, looking into a room, an almost dreamy expression on her face.

"Mother?"

She jumped, and turned to me, laughing at herself, "Yes, dear?"

"What is so special about this place?"

She sighed, smiling to herself, "It's where I first truly met your father"

((haha Nice xD I play some Zelda games 'cause I like the adventure and the cinematography and such, and I use a strategy guide/walkthrough online so I don't get frustrated or overly stressed by things :3 Some call it cheating, I call it knowing my limits lol))

Reven

Father snorted softly as he walked by to put what little we'd brought away, and it felt a little better seeing him smiling a bit again. "The first time I didn't want to grab you by the shoulders and shake you, you mean."

I wasn't sure quite what to make of that image, but took Izabelle's hand to look around with her. It wasn't a big place, but it had all the space we needed and felt . . . familiar. Like I'd been here before and couldn't remember. I liked it. It felt like home.

((Oh hey, I just remembered. Didn't they have the one girl before the kids? They found the little magical girl before they had their kids I mean. Marigold? Marilynne? Something like that?))

((Oooooooooh yeah. The little magic girl. Maryanne. Awkward. We forgot about her))

Izabelle-

"I can climb on the roof!" I exclaimed excitedly!

"You must get that joy from your father" Mother mumbled, "He scared me with that so many times"

I laughed and climbed up, ecstatic to not be held back with skirts and hoops and who knows. "Reven! Come look! You can see everything!"

((Uhh. . . Maybe she follows not far behind? Maybe since she's older she maintains the cabin? Since maybe she decided she didn't want to live at the castle))

Reven

I laughed at the I-did-not look on Father's face and just ran after Izabelle, climbing up easily after her and walking along the roof. "I'm coming! I'm coming!" When I got to her, I stopped and just . . . looked. It was just everything, everywhere, so big and so open even though the trees were clustered together and I didn't think the boundaries were as big as the castle land plot but - "It's beautiful. . ." I breathed faintly as I looked, and put an arm through Izabelle's pulling her close and smiling at her. "It's ours." Only ours. With no guards or nobleman to stop us.

((Keeps up the cabin! She is currently getting food stuffs!))

Izabelle-

I let out a squeak, and spun. It was so very perfect. "Nothing to stop us," I whispered, my eyes probably sparkling, "Nothing to keep us from finding new things. Nothing we've seen before." It was all ours to explore. Every nook, cranny and tree. Everything.

((Yes! Convenient loopholes!))

Reven

I grinned widely at her and took a few steps, careful of the roof's slope but balanced enough I didn't really have to worry about it at all. Mother and Father always worried too much about us falling when we climbed things back home, but we never did. "No more courts. No more balls. No more fake smiles." Rallek flew by again, rumbling down at us in not quite a roar, and circled until he could land in the clearing around the small house. I turned to Izabelle after looking at him and gave her a smile full of meaning. "No more guards over our heads." Even the skies could be ours.
