Fantasy Fantastic Desolator: Realm of Hrenna

Haruto nodded silently so he could finish his toast and eggs. When he swallowed his meal, Haruto stretched and sighed for a moment.

"Let's go. The sooner we get there, the faster we can kill the dragon."

With no other inconveniences, Haruto led the group out of the cave, past the tundra, and up the river. While Haruto lead the group up the river, he summoned a rune over it to see what would happen.

"Come forth... Nagaremasu..." Haruto spoke to himself as the rune turned blue with water-like details. A spear materialized from the rune, with a blue and silver blade and an intricate flowing water details. "Hey, not bad."

Haruto took Nagaremasu in his hand, spun the spear around for a moment, then let it fade back into the rune from where it spawned. "It's a good weapon. It'll be useful in the future, I assume."

While heading up the river, Momoka stopped for a moment. She pulled out a few bottles from her pouch and filled them with water before putting all of them except one back in her bag. She pulled a small white tablet out of her pouch and dropped it into the bottle. The water began to steam for a few seconds before all the dirt in the water disappeared. Momoka smiled in success and took a swig from her water.

The group continued to walk along the river for hours until nightfall. They all set up camp right were the River flows into the Jungle, so they'd be able to get an immediate start on their next trek after resting.

Haruto helped set up camp and all that before going to his tent and lying on his sleeping bag, thinking about the rest of the journey.

Momoka walked over to Shado and sat down next to her. "Do you know how to find constellations? I've never been very good at it. I can only find Orion, and all other stars just look like they're scattered randomly."

Haruto exited his tent, sitting down a few paces away from Shado and Momoka before summoning Nagaremasu and placing it across his lap. Then, he began to meditate on the weapon, entering a weird, dream-like state where he was submerged deep within the ocean, and a black humanoid stood in front of him, wearing a blue over coat with intricate details made to resemble ocean waves.

"Hello, Haruto. Do you know who I am?" The humanoid asked. He had an empty black face, aside from two blue eyes in a calm, gentle position.

"No. I don't. But I have a hunch." Haruto replied, surprised to see he could breathe in the oceanic atmosphere.

"Then tell me. Who do you think I am?" The humanoid asked once more.

"You're Nagaremasu, the Flowing Spear of the Water." Haruto guessed.

"Correct, Haruto. I am the Spirit of Nagaremasu." The spirit spoke. "There is more to this power than you think. These weapons are the first of many abilities granted by your runes. However, you have yet to see what your powers truly offer you."

"Then tell me. What can I do?" Haruto questioned.

"That is something you must discover for yourself. If you don't mind, Toketsu would like to have a word with you." Nagaremasu said, turning away to walk into the only visible structure in this underwater environment.

"So be it..." With these words, Haruto returned from his meditation, then let Nagaremasu fade away before lying down. I'll enjoy the stars first before I converse with Toketsu. He thought to himself.

After conversing with Shado, Momoka left and went to bed.

There was fire everywhere. Momoka stood amidst the flames, panting as she fought against her enemies. She heard a loud cry. She turned and saw Haruto being struck by a claw.

"Haruto!" Momoka screamed in horror.

She heard a yell and turned to see Shado falling, bleeding everywhere. Her teammates fell, their eyes open in shock, staring at the sky, never to move again.

Momoka fell to her knees.

"No... " She muttered. "Why did it have to end like this?" She screamed at the sky in frustration. "Why?!"

She heard a noise behind her and spun around. She gasped as a sharp pain filled her chest, and everything went white.

Momoka awoke, out of breath. It was just a dream. No need to worry. It's just stress. Nothing bad will happen, she tried to convince herself. She stared at the night sky before closing her eyes and falling asleep once more.

Haruto went to his tent and meditated on his weapons. Having already consulted Nagaremasu, he went to meditate with Toketsu, returning to a frozen tundra that he assumed was part of his mindscape. There, a black humanoid stood there, wearing a white fur coat with intricate snow patterns. The weapon form of Toketsu was sheathed on the spirit's back, and it had icy blue eyes in a cool, focused expression as the only part of its visible "face," for lack of a better term.

"I take it you're Toketsu?" Haruto asks the spirit.

"Indeed, Haruto." Toketsu responded, sagacity in his voice.

"What is it you want to talk about?" Haruto asked again.

"Your power, Haruto. You have more power than you think." Toketsu responded.

"Nagaremasu already told me that. Elaborate please." Haruto returned.

"You can augment the weapons without the need to be in their prime environment. By augmenting them, their runes will be enhanced to greater levels than they are now. You'll be able to do more with that elemental weapon than you thought you could."

"So how do I do that?" Haruto asked the most important question at the moment.

"That is something you must find out for yourself, as us spirits do not now what will be the catalyst for this." Toketsu replied cryptically.

"Right, thank you for your time anyway." Haruto nodded as he prepared to return to the normal world.

"You're very welcome, Haruto. Now get your rest. You'll need it." These were the last words Toketsu spoke before Haruto returned to the normal world, choosing to go to sleep afterwards.

Momoka woke to bright sunlight streaming through the trees. Seeing that her teammates weren't awake yet, she quietly crept away to the farther side of the river and began to bathe. She hummed as she washed, thinking about what to make for breakfast.

Hm, so we'll need to be on the go right away, so eggs and toast again? No, maybe waffles and eggs? Oh! Waffles, eggs, and bacon. Yeah.

She finished bathing and began to dress again before brushing her ebony locks and putting on her cloak and headdress and setting to work on breakfast. As the waffles and bacon looked just about done, and the eggs had finished, she set them on some plates and set them down.

"Guys! Breakfast is ready!" She called out to her friends. When she turned, however, her left leg began to ache. Momoka ignored it, wincing only slightly when the pain first arrived.

Haruto climbed out of his tent, completely shirtless due to having woken up in the middle of the night to take care of something and losing his shirt. However, he didn't seem to notice, and walked over to Momoka, yawning.

"What's on the menu today?" He said sleepily, his eyes still half-shut and his hair completely messed up.

"Oh! It's waffles, bacon, and-" Momoka turned to her friend, stopping when she noticed he was shirtless. "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!" She turned red and slapped him. "PUT ON A FUCKING SHIRT!"

Haruto took the slap, but didn't seem to affected. He was still half-asleep and looked down.

"How did I lose my shirt...?" he muttered sleepily as he looked down and registered the fact that his bare, muscular upper torso was on full display. "Oh right, I was going to shower bathe anyway..."

He walked over to his tent, grabbing a few things before walking away to where Momoka has just bathed.

"I'll be back, I'm going to bathe!" He yelled out to Momoka as he walked away sleepily.

After approximately half an hour, Haruto returned in his usual adventuring attire, still sleepy and yawning. He sat down at a random spot on the table and looked down at the meal. "This looks delicious. Thanks for the meal."

And with those words, Haruto began eating his meal, albeit slowly; as if his energy had been taken away while sleeping.

Momoka was eating in a normal speed. She glanced over at Haruto. "Thanks for putting on a shirt this time. What were you thinking?" She shook her head and laughed, before noticing his slow pace. "Are you okay?"

"I'm tired that's all... I remember... waking up. In the middle of the night, like something called to me. My shirt must've gotten lost while I was doing whatever. I felt like I was in a trance... I looked up and saw a blood-red moon... I saw ashes falling from the sky like snow... I saw rivers of blood and molten magma all around me... Then I saw a dragon fly at me... When I woke up, I snapped out of this trance... It felt like some lucid dream, since I was able to control a few things around me..."

Haruto set down his fork and knife for a moment to talk.

"The lava flowed into my hand and formed a pair of single-edged longswords, akin to a Katana. The river of blood formed into a demented version of Nagaremasu. The ash fell into the form of some unholy variation of Toketsu. The Moon shone beams of bloody light, and a twisted form of Zangetsu descended upon me. The ground below me morphed into one large war-axe, two-handed from what I could remember... A dark wind blew around me, taking up the form of a strange scythe embedded in the ground."

Haruto then took up his silverware and ate his meal slowly once more. "It was as if this dream is foretelling something... but I'm not sure what..."

Momoka dropped her utensils in alarm. "F-foretelling something?" She asked, unsure. She nervously picked up her utensils and shakily began to eat again.

"I couldn't be sure... all I saw was demented weapons scattered around me, a dragon about to attack, and a dark, desolate world..." Haruto replied quietly. "Let's just eat breakfast for now, I can discuss this dream later."

And so Haruto went back to eating his meal, his vigor slowly returning to him with every other bite.

"I-I see..." Momoka trailed off and went silent throughout the rest of the meal, thinking back to her own dream that night.

Shado sat quietly, hearing the conversation about fortelling something. Since she didn't sleep much, she didn't know much about such dreams. She sat quietly, unsheating her sword and sharpening it.

"What do you think, Nashiro... should I show them? It seems they care somewhat about me..."

Momoka quietly finished her meal and began to silently pack up her stuff. "...We should get going soon." She muttered quietly.

All Shado heard from the wolf was a soft bark, "I know Nashiro... I just... I find it hard not to trust them..."

Another bark came from the silver she-wolf, "I guess. Now come, Momoka says we need to go."

Haruto finished his meal as the other woke up to eat. He avoided interacting with everyone else, then suddenly felt hot as sweat dripped down his face.

"Does anyone else feel hot? Or is that just me?" Haruto asked as he packed up all his items into a rune.
