Harper King
En Route to Harper's Apartment
~ Islington, London ~
Harper willingly followed Jeremy to the car upon him demanding her too. He'd mentioned that lookouts had seen her and while normally she would have been more worried about it, she couldn't find it in her to care. None of it was going to matter if she allowed herself to get worse. Clearly, Jeremy was upset with her and she allowed him to be as he turned to look at her once they were safe inside his car. Harper didn't turn her whole body to fully look at him, instead just turning her head slightly, meeting his eyes from that position. En Route to Harper's Apartment

When he said that she was going to sit there and listen for once in her life, Harper weakly nodded her head. She was too tired to argue and she knew that he was only trying to help her in the end so there was no point in fighting him. Hearing that he was more upset about her not trusting him was interesting...she was sure he was going to be more upset about the fact that she had snuck off and she'd basically made it so that he'd have to have it out with Bruce and Spencer. The fact of the matter was, she didn't trust anyone anymore...at least, the people she had in her life since the beginning. While she didn't 100% trust her estranged father...he still opened himself up to her and gave her choices on whether she could leave when she wanted or not.
Jeremy stated that he wasn't her brother and that he'd known what it was like to not know his parents. Harper hadn't really thought about that. Yet another thing they almost annoyingly had in common. While Harper had known Jeremy for so long...it was almost as though she really didn't know him. He'd always been on the quiet side, not much of a mushy person who liked to share their backstory up until recently. So any reminder of information about his history always threw her off.
She straightened up slightly as he pointed out that if she told them, they would have been able to do this all differently. "Well I hate to break it to you, but before you are my friend...or whatever you are now..you work for my family. You really willing to stand in front of Bruce and Spencer and tell them I was right to visit the man that supposedly killed my mother?" Harper finally spoke up, though her voice was void of any sort of her usual attitude.
Jeremy brushed her shoulder with his hand and Harper didn't move to force it away like she normally would. "I shouldn't need to go to meetings, or rounds or any of it!" She said, slamming one of her fists against her knee hard enough to hurt. "I shouldn't be like this -- everyone expected me to turn out like her, that woman that didn't even stick around long enough to know me. All of the kids at school who picked on me for years! They were right, here I am, addicted to pain pills because I was unfortunate enough to survive that explosion." Harper growled. Jeremy had mentioned that he trusted her to make the right decision and Harper scoffed, "Don't speak too soon, Jere." Was all she said before looking ahead out the windshield, tears slowly crawling down her face.
There was a moment of silence before she sighed, "I'm sorry...for sneaking out. I just don't want to put you in the middle of my battle with my family. Even though I didn't know him, I think Trevor is trying to do right again...but my family is never going to believe that after what he did, huh?"
