Fantasy ~ FableWood ~

Elena got the first good look at Ward, with his dressings and lack of top. She shook her head to clear it of misleading thoughts, turning pinkish. When she saw the look on his face though, she was immediately comfortable again. She grabbed a chair and took a seat by him. Her eyes wondering from him to the others as well and back.

"Im glad you look like your doing much better.. i know nyr and especially Luness took quite a beating."

She couldnt help but retain her smile, less hollow than before, noticing Wards happiness as well.

"Oh course i would come to see you. Had me worried back at the castle. Id want to make sure you recover fully."

She sighed and shrugged, getting comfortable in the seat.

"Im fine. Just.. tomorrow is a sort of anniversary for me and someone back home who passed away. Ive mixed feelings. If anything, you helped distract me from it. I appreciate that."

Anya had smiled a little at Leia, and agreed to ride back with her. She was thankful no one scolded or questioned her for leaving without telling anyone, she figured she did enough regretting that decision on her own. Luckily everything worked out, so she supposed that was good. When she got back she immediately found a room and went to sleep. She had spent all of her energy a while ago and could not stand to stay up.

Alexander soon made his way back, with the challis returned to it's rightful owner, he thought it time to find Quincy. He came over as Elena was leaving, and offered a semi-friendly nod as they passed each other.

"Quincy?" He said, taking the seat which Elena had previously occupied. "I believe I should return this to you, seeing that the threat seems to have passed." As he spoke, he undid the leather band which he had kept around his arm, and held it out to her. He felt a companionship towards the kelpie, she was the closest to a friend he had ever gotten, and they barley knew each other, honestly. Though, Alexander could tell from her expression that something was wrong, and that was why his face was softer than usual. A small smile was present- though it was not incredibly apparent unless you'd seen his face resting.

@Flutterby

Ward tilted his head as she explained her feelings. "Ah...so it is something you would rather not think about." He understood that.

Giving her a sideways glance he changed the subject. "This 'anniversary', wouldn't be anything like a birthday would it?" He offered her a sincere smile, scraps of his hair falling into his eyes. He brushed them away, moving slowly so as not to disturb the dressings. "Well, I can certainly try to be a good distraction,"

As darkness fell something flashed outside the window. Ward saw it behind Elena's head and motioned toward the frosted glass. "Or that could."

Outside, trailing across the night sky were lights. Masses of green and purple lines twisting through the stars. They shimmered and danced and glowed and the moon hid behind a bank of cloud as if it was trying to give them a better view.

"I believe you have a similar phenomenon in your world...called the Northern Lights?"

Meanwhile Leia was in the kitchens. She had just pulled something out of the oven and the cooks gathered around it, giving it odd looks.

"I've never seen anything like that."

"What is it?"

"What did you put in that again?"

Leia smiled triumphantly at her creation and lifted the plate, preparing to take it into the great hall to share with her friends.

"This my good chefs, is a pizza."

Kicking open the door into the hall she marched the food into the room and placed in on a table close to the hearth.

"You've never had pizza before I'll bet." She said happily to all in the room. "So you haven't truly lived. But I can remedy that right now." She pulled a slice off the tray, sticky cheese stringing in a hot, gooey mess.

"Give it a try." She said as she took a bite of her own piece. The taste was divine, slightly different than the local pizzeria her parents used to buy from, but it was still very much pizza.

Elena nodded. It was not something she wished to dwell on. Finding no better way to put it, she agreed silently with Ward.

"You guessed right," she replied with a bitter sweet grin. She didnt want to ruin the mood, yet she trusted talking to Ward. "Its my twentieth birthday tomorrow. I get to be here for it. Um.. its also the anniversary of my mothers sui- er um death."

She said, trying to be careful with her words. Ward attempted to distract her, but natural causes ended up working best. A strange natural light emanated from the window in the darkened sky. She scooted in front of half the window to get a better look.

"Northern lights.. yeah. Its beautiful. Ive never seen anything like it before." She said quietly, smile softening as she watched the waves of color.

Ward knew what she was going to say. He was glad she trusted him with that knowledge but he was saddened by the fact that Elena had had to live through something so terrible.

"Perhaps making new memories, happier ones will help. " He placed a hand on his chest for emphasis. "I will personally take it upon myself to make them happen."

When Elena went to watch the lights Ward shifted slowly to sit beside her, draping one of the fur covers about her shoulders so she wouldn't catch a chill at the window. They sat together in silence, Ward fighting off sleep which was beckoning for him. He would much rather be right where he was.

"Yes," He said. "Beautiful." He looked up at the night, golden eyes reflecting the aurora's dancing light. But his mind was far from the sky outside.

((Its sappy, I have no regrets :P Goodnight all! ))

(Sorry to interrupt xD )

Quincy gave Elena a nod, watching her leave without a word. She had known the human would return to Ward soon. The kelpie had a feeling Elena couldn't stand to be away from him, whether she admitted it to herself or not. But she didnt sit alone long- Alexander came as she left. She looked up at the sound of her name, giving him a half-smile before taking another drink. She was almost out of the wonderful stuff. The kelpie focused on what he was saying, relief clear in her eyes. “Thank you." She breathed, taking it and putting it back on. “And thank you for accepting it. You did me a great favor." She said, taking a few deep breaths. Her face felt warm, and indeed it was a little pink. “How are you?" Quincy asked conversationally, her gaze flicking to his face. It occured to her that it looked different than usual, but she couldnt identity why.

PhantomNightmare said:
"Should I acompany you to your room?" Zelnite said while scratching the back of his head. Taking an apple with him before anything else. He grabbed his sword, his mind still filled with questions that bothered him. But he agreed with the idea of resting. He didn't have anything else to do or have anything else planned, he might as well give her some company.
"Yeah, actually, that'd be great." Ashley replied when she saw him grab his sword and an Apple. She grabbed a hold of his arm with a clear smile on her face. Hopefully she wasn't being flirty or anything. If something was rubbing him the wrong way, hopefully he'd say something.

Banba looked at Leo as he spoke after her, eyes growing wider and wider. Then Leila dropped beside her, kicking up more snow with the wind spirit. She stayed silent, even through the chat of naming the spirit. She stayed still even after the other two got up and left, not feeling the cold. The shard had felt colder, eatig her from the inside out. When Leo mentioned sticky buns, however, the shifter shot up, beside the lion man in an instant. Shr giggled, walking a few steps ahead of him when she looked up, noticing the sky.

"Leo look!" She gushed, pointing and turning on the spot. "Sky lights!"

She giggled again, dancing around on the snow, staring up at the sky until she was back beside leo. In one jump, she attaced herself to his arm, tail wrapped around his wrist.

"Hey, hey leo. What colour are my eues?" She opened them wide, tip of her tonge between her lips. Slowly, they changed from their usual yellow to a light shade of brown, hardly noticable if one wasn't paying attention.

@zCrookedz

"I am... Good," he says, nodding in response to her thanks. He realizes that his response was actually true. It was not that he was usually bad, or in a negative place, just that he had spent most of his life in a safe, neutral place. "And yourself? Better, I hope, now?"

((Sorry @KattRai , please totally finish your interaction with Quincy, I'll be time-jumping in this post so Lioness can start posting again, just post morning when you wish.))

The sunlight glittered on freshly-fallen snow, sparkling all through the sleepy streets of the little lake town. It trickled into the healer's house through the window and melting the frost on the glass.

Ward had fallen asleep on his bed and lay curled up in a nest of furs and wool blankets. The dressing on his side had come loose leaving nothing but a fine scar. The light bid him open his eyes and he did so slowly, blinking the sleep from them as he stretching his shoulders where he lay. The scent of healing herbs was heady and sweet and the entire house was still warm, even after the fire had died. Ward shut his eyes again, savoring the peaceful moment.

Alta was asleep in her chair, snoring quietly as she sat by Luness' bed. She had thought about disturbing Nyr the night before, who was fast asleep too, but she looked so peaceful the old healer did not have the heart to tell her to leave. The pipe sat long extinguished in one of her weathered hands and a large bag lay by the fireplace which sat full of ash and a single smoking log.

((I have no idea where Elena is atm, so I'll wait on Bea to post before I move Ward too much))

Throughout her seemingly peaceful sleep, Luness had random flashbacks to her mother's death and her life of solitude afterwards.

At one point, she envisioned her father looking at Luness just after killing Larassa and saying, "Why'd you do it, Luness? Why'd you kill your own father?"

Luness then suddenly woke up, her heart racing as she saw only feathers in her vision. What the...?

Luness immediately went to move her right arm to swipe the feathers away, but was instead met by immense pain. Yowling in pain and fear, Luness decided to be loud instead, in hopes that whatever was on her would move off.

As the dawn arrived Nyr heard noises coming from right next to her. Yawning sleepily she saw that Luness was finally awake and she smiled at her.

" Good morning, ferocious warrior. " she said as she moved her wings to allow the sun to shine on her once more. " I hope you had a good rest. You really made me worried. "

She then looked up to see Ward awake as well.

" Ward! I hope you had a pleasant sleep as well. You both went through a rough battle... but Alta has magical hands, I tell you! "

Leo stopped and turned back to Banba as she gestured to the sky. He looked to the heavens, a magnificent spectacle of lights being displayed across the sky's dark blue canvas. The colors danced across the sky, chasing each other in an playful game of tag. "Ah, such a sight." He turned back to banba. He watched as her eyes changed, almost missing the subtle change. "I believe they are brown." With a big smile he scooped up the little one and placed her on his shoulders as a parent might. He continued on towards the castle.

@Jecklyn

((We should probably catch up with the time skip lol))

((Catch up commenced! Will imply that both went to bed!))

Banba rolled over as the sun struck her eyes, stretching much like a cat would. She sat where she was, looking around curiously. There had been a fire going in the room, but the shifter had put it out as soon as she entered. Now, though, she crawled up to the ashes, pushing them around with her fingertips. Bored, she half stood up, walking to the door on her hands and feet, leaning against the wood to open it, only to trip and roll into the hall. Giggling, she stood up, spreading her arms and running down the steps, into the great hall where the team had had food previous nights and mornings. There was a huge breakfast set out, and, twirling by, Banba snatched up a plate of sausages, sitting in an armchair so that her legs dangled over the side, tail wrapping lazily around her ankles.

Elena had left the healers home after Ward and the others seemed to have fallen asleep. she did not want to disturb them. Sunlight filtered into her own room and she sat up slowly, suddenly regretting having woken up at all today. Her head felt heavy like it was filled with lead. Then she remembered the day.

She got up and found a change of clothing, brushing her hair and heading to get breakfast. Trying to brush aside her headache and memories to put on a happier face.

Leos body sat motionless on the floor in his meditative pose. His glowing green eye set, unmoving as he communed with Lilly. As the sunbeams reached through the window, Leo began to stir. His eye faded back to normal and he shifted his bare shoulders in circles to break the stiffness. He had removed his mantle the night before to clean the melted snow off. He glanced around the room. He had not rested quite as soundly as usual, but he had gained the energy needed none the less. Standing and stretching, he made his way to the door. He followed the hallway, taking notice of Banba's room and the door widely ajar. He padded down the stairs and found the great hall. He found Banba sunk into an arm chair and greated her "Good morning Banba, sleep well?"

Luness made a spitting noise, much like a sand cat, and then grumpily huffed.

When the sun shone on her face, Luness rapidly blinked while her eyes adjusted to the morning light.

Perking her good ear towards Nyr, Luness frowned slightly when her hearing seemed to be a bit off. It wasn't as magnified as usual. Still, Luness listened to what Nyr had to say and then asked Nyr curiously, "Why were you worried about me? I'm a werecat so I'll naturally heal quickly. None of my injuries were life-threatening."

At this, Luness attempted to show that she was fine by sitting up, but she instantly regretted the decision, as her vision darkened and she got hit by a wave of dizzyness. Folding her good ear against her head, Luness felt immense pain from all over body and whined before slumping back down.

" There-there. " she said, gently patting Luness' head with her hands " I know you are strong, Luness, about that I never had a doubt. But aren't friends are for to worry about the other should they have even the smallest of injuries? "

She reached for her phial and dropped two additional drops of moonlight on her fur.

" I wanted to thank you for what you have done for me. " she said silently, addressing both Ward and the werecat " I was... weak to give in to my wrath, to my anger. If not for you god knows what I would have done. "

Banba watched Leo sit down, then offered him the plate of sausages.

"'Morning!" She said, if a little loudly, before breaking down in giggles. She turned over in the chair, stretched oddly out.

"I slept well. I think. Sleep is a fickle thing. How do you know you've slept at all? What if you've just jumped forward in time?" She stopped herself from going on anymore, a dopey grin spreading across her lips as she turned to Leo. "And you?"

Elena walked into the Hall and went to get breakfast. As usual, she avoided anything with meat, or lack of sugar. She noticed Banba and Leo, giving them a nod and weak smile.

"Banba, would not time have to jump forward for each person separately then? And what about those who didn't get sleep?" She said, happy to hear the other talking in riddles. She was worried after the fight yesterday that they might lose their normally energetic shifter.

"Morning Leo."

She didn't touch her assortment of fruit as much as she thought she would, but Elena was still sure her smile was convincing enough.

Ward jumped at the sound of Luness panicking. He shot up, heart racing. Bleary-eyed he rubbed his forehead and yawned.

"There is no need for thanks." He told the dread raven happily. "You would have done the same for me." He paused as the memories oof the night before filtered back into his mind.

"Oh! Its Elena's birthday today." He remarked, pulling back the furs and going in search of his shirt. "We should do something special."

Alta opened her eyes slowly when Luness yowled, and when she insisted she was fine Alta laughed as she found she wasn't.

"'fraid not even a young blood like you can heal from those wounds in one night." She rose from her chair, her bones complaining loudly and put more logs on the fire.

She then went to fetch two cups of healing tea and handed one each to Luness and Ward.

"I feel fine, really." Ward tried to protest. "Drink it." Alta snapped and her tone brooked for no arguments.

The liquid was bitter and he made a face, but swallowed his complaints with the tea.

"I've heard tell, there is a rare flower that grows on the slopes of the mountain just next to here." Alta began.

"The Glaciem Star, said to be the most beautiful of treasures here in the North of FableWood."

"Wonderful! I shall fly up and acquire one."

"Its not that easy!" Alta laughed, "The downdrafts off the mountain walls are much too strong to fly through, I've patched up dragons that've been dashed against the rocks. The only way to get to it is to navigate the ice caves."

Ward listened intently.

"The caves' entrance is just behind the village, good luck getting through without some form of magical tracking though."

Ward thought for a moment. Now that the treasure was more difficult to obtain he felt even more determined to obtain it.

"I will most definitely need help then."

Nathan had been awake for a short while. He left his room, heading for the dining hall to eat breakfast, looking a mess - his hair wasn't brushed and he still looked half-asleep. He sat down - or rather collapsed into - one of the chairs, staring at the food bt not yet picking anything up. He stifled a yawn, then looked at his companions. "Did... Did you get the chalice?" He asked sleepily, to no one in particular.

(Before Time-Skip)

Zelnite didn't mind the touch Ashley have, it didn't really matter to him since all he needed was rest. They walked till they finally ended up in her room. Looking out the window, he saw the beautiful lights in the sky. "Wow, they're really pretty" he said while smiling.

(@Shimakage Thunder we should probably keep up with the timeskip lol)

Leo smiled to the company, "Good morning Elena, how fairs our leader this morning?" He had kept Ward, Luness, and Nyr in his thoughts since they had returned. The amount of damage especially to Luness was worrisome. But he was confident that the healer would be able to fix her. He turned back to Banba, her riddle inquiry now had him thinking. "I believe Elena is correct little one, it would be hard for individual time jumps." Leo eyed a plate of meat, snatched it from the table and began his breakfast.
