Fantasy ~ FableWood ~

Luness' ears flickered towards Leo one more, as she listened to what he said before he left. She didn't look at him though. She found Leo to be both irritating, and yet deeply caring. Luness wasn't used to being cared for after spending so many years on her own, so it was hard for her to accept anyone's offers of help or kindness. Of course, Leo hadn't given her much of a choice earlier. Her thoughts shifted back to the healer though, as she recalled the lullaby she had sung to Luness earlier. Why did it sound so familiar? Then the realization finally dawned on her. My mother used to sing that to me whenever I got hurt or was scared when I was younger.

Swiftly turning around, Luness' eyes skimmed the healer's tent, as she tried to find her and ask her where she had learned that lullaby.

"Left?! But why would she go without us?" Ward set his expression.

"I will rally the others, we'll comb village, if we still cannot find her then we should prepare to leave immediately."

With that he set off at a jog, knocking on doors and asking the inhabitants of the quiet village if they had seen their friend.

He told anyone he could find and not long after most of the villagers were looking as well. Everytime he met one of their party he asked them to search and then join him in the great hall.

After a little while Ward returned to the main hall himself, unsuccessful.

"I fear you're right Elena." He said gravely. "She must be out there." He looked beyond the wall at the blinding white. With the snow on the frozen lake's surface he couldn't even tell where land ended and sky began.

"I hope she is all right..."

((That's it for me tonight, catch ya later guys!))

Ethan frowned, hearing the others. He stood up, listening in on the conversation. He stood up and approached them. "Anya is gone?" He asked, concerned for her well being out in the cold - a normal person couldn't hardly stay out in it, and not alone without protection against the wild animals. To Ethan, Anya seemed as helpless as he was himself.

Nyr thanked the hospitality of the healer and the love of others then left the tent, taking a walk in the snowy wastes. So much has happened since they have arrived and she was happy that everything turned out fine so far - except for Anya missing. She was a bit worried but somehow she thought that she would be safe and that they would find her really quickly.

She found a nice spot at one clearing and she sat down on a tree trunk, looking at the horizon. This cold icy wasteland reminded her of her home in the mountains but she did not really care about that place any more - her home was with the others now. But this memory also made her remember the dire warning of her father. She was sure that the princess would be able to organize a defensive force to protect Branbern but still...

Tears poured from her eyes knowing that her kin, those who gave her birth were now threatening to kill not only her but everything she loved. She did not know how but they had to be stopped, but she wondered: will she be strong enough to kill her own father for the sake of everything?

Banba turned her head to Leo as he called to her in the great hall. Standing up, she simply walked over to him, face set as if she were trying to remember something. But it was gone in an instance, and she was giggling again, walking around dopily, swaying as if she were drunk.

"Excitement. Dairy. I'm all... Tipping! Dragons and cakes and grass and excitement!" The words tumed out of her mouth, before she grinned, dropping to the floor in a poof of smoke. Banba scampered up to Leo's shoulder as she returned to the white furred creature form once again. When Ward and the others came looking for Anya, she stood on her hind legs, raising a tiny paw.

"I can fly to find her!" She stated, straight faced.

Quincy's expression didn't budge at his question, but there was visible relief when he consented. “I wouldnt have given my charm to Luness if I didn't have a back up plan." She murmured, stabbing at a piece of fruit moodily. Giving up the magic bridle made her feel sluggish and irritable, but it would pass. His voice sounded in her ears again, causing her to look up at last. The scarf that usually hung around his neck was in his hand, and she reached out uncertainly to take it. “You give as recompense for my bridle?" She asked, hiding her delight behind confusion. “I haven't been given a gift in a long time. I cannot accept it." She ran her hand over it, studying the color with a hidden smile. She reached up and put it around his neck again, tying it carefully. “You are very sweet, Alexander. I am lucky to call you a friend. But you must be warm too. Consider your friendship gift enough." She said, gently pressing a palm to his cheek with a joyful smile.

Leo watched Banba make her way towards him. He noticed her expression and how she was carrying herself until it changed suddenly and she seemed like her old self. Leo became concerned. If the Lowes of the chalice worked like they did on the sane minded, who's to say it wouldn't work backwards on some one like Banba. "Banba, come with me for a moment." He motioned for her to follow him to window that he had jumped out of earlier. Before she went traipsing off into the wastes to look for the missing group member, he wanted to talk to her.

"Banba, I hope you can understand this, but are you feeling alright? Does anything feel......strange in your mind, unlike normal?" He spoke slowly and softly to try and emphasize his words to her.

At the next opportunity to rest, Ashley obviously took it. She had to enjoy it while she could, since there was going to be a lot of fighting sooner or later. And she needed to have as much energy as she could possibly have. While taking a nap in one of the tents, she was shouting in her sleep and would wake up screaming due to a horrible dream, in other words, a nightmare.

Banba stared out the window as Leo asked about her. She grinned, but it was obvious it was hard to keep it there.

"Your name is leo." She pointed at his chest, still looking out the window. "And my name is banba. And the gryphon is ward and the dragon is Alexander and the Werecat is Luness and the kelpie is Quincy and the living egg that is not an egg is ashley." Her smile faltered, and Banba brought her hands up to her face, pushing the scaly flesh around randomly.

"I don't know... I never know much. But I know I am fine." She said it with as much conviction as she could, still rubbing at her face. "And our friend may not be fine, so let us focus on her, yes?"

@zCrookedz

Leos eye went wide. It was the first time she had ever said something since being in the forest that was remotely coherent. This was the proof that cemented his theory. He was both happy and concerned for Banba, but he knew she was correct. "You are right, we will help to find our friend. Then we will focus on you. Ok? How about we do a survey over the town. Got anything in your bag of tricks big enough to fly us both?" He smiled at her. He didn't want her to see the concern he had.

A grin spread over Banbas lips just before she herself escaped through the window, summersaulting as she hit the ground until she stood up, a winged horse big enough to carry Leo in her place. She trotted around in a circle, flapping the wings experimentally before looking back in the window at Leo, tongue out.

"I am a dragon, my warmth is not a great concern." He told Quincy, smiling a touch awkwardly. "But I suppose I cannot force a gift upon you. I will keep my promise, I've never failed to do keep my word before, of that you can be assured." He looked down at the leather band in his hand, and decided to wrap it up his arm and latch it for safe-keeping, that way it could not get stolen or fall out of his bag without him noticing. He had yet to figure out what he would do with it when he transformed, but he decided to worry about that later.

Leo laughed. Just one of the things that he was able to do again since leaving the forest. Banba usually had a great deal to do with that. He climbed to the railing with his back to the ground and let the cold wind blow through his mane for a moment. Looking back through the open window he saw Ward "Banba and I are going to do a scout for Anya. We will return shortly." With that he let himself fall backwards off the railing plummeting to the ground.

Anya had left late that night and headed out across the frozen lake towards where she could feel herself being pulled. She knew that's where it was, and she knew they needed to get it quickly. Those were the only thoughts that had filled her mind when she left. Because of the gusts, her snowy foot prints had long been blown over except for where the wind had been blocked by barriers. She walked all through the remaining hours of the night, slowing here and there for rest. The further from town she went, the more worried about being cold and alone she became. 'This was a terrible idea, what were you thinking?' she snapped at herself in her mind. 'That something needed to be done, and you were to nervous to tell anyone what you were feeling.' She considered turning and heading back, she knew the way, all she had to do was imagine herself with the others and she knew how to get to them, but something in her wouldn't let her return, so she forged ahead through the bitter cold as the sun rose, pulling her cloak tightly around her.

Quincy have him a doubtful look. “Even dragons must feel could in such a horrid place as this." She said, but her smile stayed. “It gives me greater peace of mind; I have my cloak, you need your scarf more than I would." She reassured. Then, as she returned her gaze to her food, in the most nonchalant manner, “You should smile more. It makes you more handsome." By the way she said it, it was obvious she didnt understand the implications of compliments to most people. To her, it was a simple statement. The kelpie broke a berry in her mouth, letting the juice wash over her tongue. A soft hum sounded in her throat, simple happiness at the sweet taste.

((There are some surprises leading to the castle and inside it too, but feel free to imagine whatever obstacles you wish, I'll catch up with you all when I can.))

In the dark depths of and icy chamber something opened its eyes. With a crack of ice a slender figure broke free from his frozen sleep, stretching and making his way to the stairs.

"Well well, she told be there would be company, but it may be arriving earlier than I thought." The voice was like an un-oiled door. The figure made his way upstairs, spindly, skeletal limbs draped in fine blue and grey fabric.

He walked past the room where his prize was kept. A large cup decorated with bounding wolves. The snarl that came from the room made him grin.

"Hello pooch." he laughed as the wolf lunged at him, stopped by a thick iron collar and chain. There were many more dangers between the humans and Chalice too.

The figure giggled as he stepped up to the throne in the center of a great hall. An orb glowed silently by the gilded and icy throne.

"Let's give them a little more to worry about shall we?" With that the sorcerer rubbed the ball, enticing storm clouds to grow inside it. The churned angrily, broiling in a flurry of snow and hail. Around the castle the clouds began to grow dark.

"Now fly true and off you go! Bury our friends in ice and snow!"

With a thunderous crack the storm was released.

Nyr looked at the sky and noticed something was off. The usually clear blue sky was now filled with dark clouds, but somehow she had the feeling that these were not normal ones. Her suspicion was further confirmed when the anguished wind came to her with despair and fear, signaling the incoming danger.

She jumped on her feet, her scars still aching a bit, and flew high in the air only to see the clouds coalescing at the city.

" A dark wind is blowing... " she muttered to herself and then the sudden realization struck her. " A storm is coming, death is coming... "

With determination she started to fly back to the castle, only hoping that she was not too late already.

When the storm picked up, Ashley was greatly worried. Even though she was naturally warm all of the time, she still admitted that it was cold as all hell. What else could go wrong? Hopefully they'd find that Ice Castle soon. Her thoughts turned to her baby, whom she's been having many vivid dreams about. Were those dreams normal? Hopefully. Hopefully Anya would be found soon. The Young Mother was genuinely worried for her.

"I-thank you." Alexander said In reply to the compliment. He took a snack from the table, too- nothing too sweet, as he did not favour sweets, but something with the taste of lemons. Alex, too, felt the shift in the air. He glanced outside and said, "The weather seems to be deteriorating quickly."

With conercen for Anya and now Nyr, Elena left the town. She wore the thick fur coat and had her book in hand, when she travelled out. The dark formations of clouds werent too worrying. If she was able to manipulate ice once, she could do it again. Drawing in her new medium of choice there, she continued on. It wasnt as strong as the vines but given time it might be.

Her feet trudged onward through the snow, hoping Ward would know and follow. A lot of groups seemed to be scouting, anyways. The cold wind bit her skin in a way no coat could protect. It sent a shiver up her spine in fear. It was as though she was facing an enemy, its the same rush. Looking around, she couldnt pinpoint it, so she moved off, tugging at thefur coat for protection. Then she realozed something weird about the cloud formations. They came from a designated area. Not from a direction but more like from a point. Getting an idea, she followed it.

The kelpie tilted her head, confused by the sudden change. She looked outside, wondering why this storm felt strange. “It is not a real storm. I mean.. not natural." She corrected, glancing at him quickly. “Something bad sent it. We should check on the others." Before waiting for a reply, she stood and started making her way to where she last saw the group, near the healers home.

Nyr finally arrived at the castle, still panting from the fast flight she had to make. It was very taxing flying against wind which bends not to her call. She entered the great hall to find people there and as soon as she spotted them she looked worried.

" I presume you felt the chill wind blow. A storm is coming " she said " Anya is gone and this nefarious storm rages on... I am afraid there must be some connection. "

She looked around and despair struck at her heart.

" Where is Elena? " she almost cried out in panic. No... not her...

The snow was hitting hard now, as well as some ice. Elena kept a hand above her head, ice turning to a single solid form as it came down upon her, and flowing like a liquid away from her body. This power became less taxing and easier to manage. She decided catching up to a lost girl would be easier should she run, so Elena picked up the pace and yelled.

"Anya!! Anya! Can you here me?!"

She shouted, feeling lost until she spotted footsteps. They were fading fast from the snow build up but they were definite. She ran in their direction, so they would not be lost. It seemed Anya was moving in a similar direction.

"Anya!!"

She heard a growl and pulled out her sword and maneuvered the ice around her in response.

Before Quincy could leave the hall, the raven swooped in. “Anya is one of the humans?" She asked, still unfamiliar with all of their names. “Elena did not come here with us. I assumed she stayed with Ward or Leo." The kelpie's concern deepened. Even for the hardy creatures of this realm, this storm would be too much. What would it do to two wandering humans? “We must find them."
