Fantasy ~ FableWood ~

She stopped, her eyes filled with anger and hurt. "I am not hungry, I am coming with you. I do not care if you do not wish to endanger me, it is my own fault if I get hurt." She held up a hand, her eyes still angered, hoping that Nyr would understand. "I do not wish to see harm come to you."

She looked at Mira with curiosity in her eyes. Her heart swelled that she wanted to help her but... she still feared her well being. She put her hand on her shoulder, looking deeply in her eyes.

" I have to warn you: I may not come back if I am judged and found unworthy. I very well may perish and if I do so I do not want to bring anyone else with me to the abyss... " she sighed and looked at her. " Are you absolutely sure? "

"Yes." She put her own hand over Nyr's, showing her that she was. "Blue, can you keep these safe, just in case I don't return?" She turned to the said girl and smiled, holding out her book and the necklace. She turned back to Nyr. "Let's go."

Lexi took the book and necklace without words as she was happy to see friends devoted to each other. A touching scene really. 'And I'll be here, being a guardian to this book and probably missing out on the fun...' Lexi thought, feeling unhappy as she secretly plot to follow them but she quickly threw the idea away as she wouldn't want to accidentally get lost in the process. "I'll uh... see you soon I suppose?" she asked, unsure. "Assuming you're alive of course... Um... Best of the Irish luck? I'm not to read this right?"

Nyr sighed and smiled at both of them.

" Very well. " she said finally. " Follow me then if you are ready to go. The dusk is upon us and the time is nigh. "

She turned around and headed to the exit from Brambern. She was glad that at least Lexi decided to remain in the town - it will probably be the best for her... although she had the audacity deep down to ask her to follow them, but she quickly dismissed the idea. It was enough that Mira had to follow her to the danger, Lexi - not doubting about her courage - would at least be able to tell the others why they were missing.

A bit anxious she stepped outside the gates and headed into the forest. She then headed towards a clearing which were supposed to be in the heart of the forest.

"What is this task of yours?" She asked, knowing it would be dangerous, but refusing to care anyway. Her hair had come from the braid, back to it's wild and frantic mess, no doubt going to have twigs and leaves trapped in it soon.

She bowed her head in shame.

" After our initial battle with the army of dark spiders I used the powers of the moon to smite and kill most of them - at the cost of a part of my soul. For cases like that Mother Moon has granted me a vial of her sacred waters: one drop would rejuvenate and restore me but with the battle of the giant the vial broke and its content vanished. "

They delved deeper into the forest, closing to the clearing.

" Now I will lead you to a place where very few have ever tread: The Grove of the Moon, where Mother Moon rests. I have to ask her to replenish the sacred waters and restore my soul... but if she finds me unworthy of her grace she will send me to oblivion. "

"But...you're bringing me with you, not overly by choice, what happens to me if she doesn't find you worthy?" She was concerned for her own safety, yes, but a fair amount of people usually would. "Wait, is this 'Mother Moon', like a goddess?"

She stopped, turned to her and shook her head.

" I know not. Mother Moon is... yes, you may call her a goddess, that term should be appropriate. But her sacred grove is sacred for a reason, very few have ever stepped within it. "

She once again stepped close to her, hugged her and asked one final time.

" The clearing is just before us. I ask you one last time: are you sure you wish to accompany me before the Moon herself? "

"I did not just come here, walk with you through a forest, just to stay here and hope you come back." She slipped her glasses off, her gaze still slightly clear. "I will accompany you."

She sighed. The Moon was already high up in the night sky, lighting the clearing before them. Nyr lead Mira to the small hill in the middle. Seemingly there was nothing there. Fortunately the dread raven knew exactly what she needed to do. Her wings spread wide, her hands and eyes started to burn with white light as she chanted the sacred incantation.

" Ba-fandral so-karr derai! " she uttered in a deep voice. Suddenly the sky split and a flash of thunder descended from the heavens, creating a shimmering, pure white portal. Without hesitation she steppedi nside and she was soon consumed by the whiteness.

Anya couldn't help herself but stare at the unicorn, wondering if all of this was really happening or if the crash had sent her into some kind of coma that resulted in a very realistic dream. As it spoke with her, she nodded and said nothing. She wasn't sure how to respond to all of this, 'they summoned us? Do they have a plan to send us beck, then?' She wondered in the back of her head. When the food arrived, Anya was grateful. She was very hungry, and didn't even attempt to hide it.

"Thank you," Anya told Leia, taking the plate. "I'm Anya, by the way... you are?" After she asked the question, she proceeded to consume the honeyed apples, and had a piece of cake or two before looking through the food for something of more substance.

When the princess spoke, Anya looked at her, "Armour? Weapons? Wait, I can't fight! What am I supposed to do with weapons?" Anya looked a bit worried. The princess's spell must not have been very picky when it came to choosing who to summon. Why wouldn't it summon olympic athletes or trained fighters instead of... well, her?

She stepped out from the light, finding herself in the familiar moon garden she visited so many times before. She carefully walked through the moonlight filled waters next to her and the undescribably beautiful scenery. She felt both at ease and was nervous, she hasn't visited Mother Moon in quite some time. She looked behind herself only to see no one. With a sardonic smile she pressed onward.

" It is maybe for the best. " she told herself. She would not want to sacrifice anyone for her recklessness. As she walked on and on she finally saw a throne carved out of pure white marble, shining brightly in the light of the moon. and upon the throne sat the one she revered and feared: Mother Moon.

Lexi began to walk to where the castle should be and one of the maids guided her inside to the princess who was having a nice feast. She sat silently as bread and biscuits was served to her. She was tempted to chomp all of it down but retained her manners and munch quietly as one woman begin to protest in some way and she watched, displaying to interest with the book and necklace still clutched in her hands.

She gave up on thinking things through, she dove in after Nyr.

"Bugger the consequences."

She ran after Nyr, hair streaming behind her. She called her name, trying to find the Dread Raven.

Nyr, trembling, knelt down before the benevolent goddess who now looked down on her with curious eyes.

" Nyr, my child. " she said with a booming voice as she descended from her throne. " It has been a long while since we have met. "

" Indeed it was, Mother Moon. " said the frightened raven, not looking up.

" I sense fear in your heart, my child, did something happen? " asked the deity with a surprised voice.

" Dear Mother, I... " she was interrupted by the flickering portal behind them. Before she knew it Mira stepped into the glade of the Moon Goddess.

The Moon Deity looked at the newcomer with widely opened eyes. She then looked at the Dread Raven and the human in surprise as she started walking towards Mira. Her face did not show any emotions, she just looked at her. She stopped before the newcomer and gazed down at her with her intense gaze.

" Welcome, mortal. " she said with a booming, eerie voice. " Who you are to enter my sacred glade when I am conversing with one of my daughters? "

"I'm s-sorry, I....I was making sure Nyr was safe...I'm sorry if I did something wrong.." She looked at her feet, her hands gripping the sleeves of her jumper. "Please don't hurt me..."

She raised her eyebrows when she heard the name of the raven.

" You are the companion of my daughter? " she asked, turning to Nyr. " Is that true? "

" Yes, Mother. " said Nyr " She is my ally... my friend. "

The expression of the goddess softened upon hearing those sentences. She turned to Mire, now smiling.

" That also explains how could you use the portal, for only the ones with pure soul may be able. " she said, as she walked back to her throne. " Any friend of my children are the friends of mine. Come, little girl. "

"Thank you." She gave a shaky smile and followed the deity.

It's not everyday you meet a goddess.

She stood next to Nyr, finally letting out the breath she hadn't realised she had been holding.

She sat back on the throne and looked on the two girls.

" Well then, why did you seek an audience with my, my child? " addressed she the question to Nyr.

The Dread Raven pulled the shattered vial out of her pockets, placing it on the ground. In that moment the goddess jumped up from the throne, her expression changing to angry and menacing.

" You have disappointed me, child. " she said with a voice of rising anger. The very sky darkened as her fury rose. " I gave you a gift... waters from my own pool of life... and you come back with the ENTIRE vial expended and destroyed? "

Nyr could not say a word, she just trembled in fear as the goddess looked upon her.

" I want answers. Now. "

Her eyes widened and she grabbed Nyr's hand, not in fear, but for comfort, for both of the girls.

The thought flashed through her head.

I seriously wish I was telepathic. I want to speak to her...

The raging goddess now turned her gaze to Mira.

" You, mortal. " she thundered " Do you know anything about this heresy? "

Nyr stepped between them, protecting her with her body.

" No, Mother. " she said, looking deeply in the eyes of the deity " Leave her alone. This burden is mine. "

" You insolent little child! " she yelled at her, blasting Nyr with pure moonlight, but she stood her ground. " Do not dare to tell me what I can and can not do! "
