Fantasy ~ FableWood ~

"Do not harm her!" She screamed at the goddess, hating her for hurting Nyr. Her eyes were steely, but almost glowing with rage. "She is one of your 'daughters', yet you treat her like something lesser! You are a horrible creature!" She wasn't sure where the boldness had come from, but soon, one fo her hands flicked out. She knew what she could do.

Her voice was low, but melodic, her body shook and suddenly shockwaves hit the harsh goddess.

The deity was interrupted by the sudden wave of force. Surprised she shoved the raven out of the way, stepping in front of the mortal.

" You... " she hissed " How DARE you tell ME what to do with my children? How DARE you intervene when she needs to be punished, appropriately? She disobeyed my commands, she disrespected my wishes and she will pay the price for that! "

"NO SHE DOESN'T!" She screamed, unafraid of the goddess.

Her eyes were almost glowing again, when she spoke, her voice melodic, similar to a ritualistic chant.

"You are no goddess, you are a heartless bitch. You will not harm my friend."

She pushed her away, the shockwaves being the cause.

(Sorry, just hated Mira being powerless.)

This time she actually felt a mild shock wave, disrupting her. Being tired of the little mortal, she raised her hand in the sky. A white thunder descended and empowered her palm as she looked at her in rage.

" You have earned my ire! " she thundered as the rumblings in the sky intensified and she prepared to strike her down. " Your sentence... "

Her hand, full of the power of the heavens have struck down Mira.

Or would have. But instead she placed her palm gently on her shoulder. Her face was now bright, shining in the full moon as she caressed the cheeks of the girl with her other hand.

" The sentence is obvious. You have passed your trials, my child. " she said, smiling at her.

"What do you mean 'trials'?" She tried to hide her tears. The touch was...motherly.

How long has it been since I've felt something like this?

She answered her own question.

Too long.

Nyr walked up to them, a wide smile on her face. She folded her arms together, as if she had just won a bet.

" I told you, Mother. " she said to the goddess " She is special. Even for a human. "

" Indeed, my child. " smiled the goddess, still looking at Mira. " And you were right, she is indeed powerful. "

She took a step back and patted Nyr's head gently.

" You have done well Nyr. Yes, I believe she is ready. "

" Earlier today Nyr had contacted me, telling me about a girl with untold potentials. " the goddess explained " She said that she had felt sympathetic and that the human had been through same hardships like she was. "

She looked at Nyr who nodded. The Deity continued.

" She asked if I could bestow my blessing onto you. I agreed if you have passed three trials.

The first was of daring to face danger. You followed my daughter into the unknown, proving your bravery.

The second was the test of humility. You have shown me respect - and some fear as well, proving your kind soul.

But most importantly: the test of tenacity. You stood against all odds to protect your ally... your friend, proving your loyalty and strength.

And now I shall do as my daughter asked. Please, kneel, Mira. "

She knelt, her head spinning at all of this. She had never thought a goddess would think her worthy of their blessing.

I'm going to have to thank Nyr after this.

The goddess raised her hands, bathing Mira in the pure white moonlight that emanated from her. Nyr also fell to her knees, observing the ceremony.

" I, Lumman'Ar, Goddess of the Moon and Guardian of the Pale Sister shall grant you my blessing. Your magical abilities shall ever be more powerful and will crush your foes as long as you use them to protect the ones you love. Guide the light of the moon, use it to smite down those who oppose you. Pray for help and know that the Moon will always answer to your call. "

The light enveloped Mira, infusing her with the mystical abilities of the Moon. Her eyes lit up in the pure white light before it dimmed away.

" It is done. Rise, Mira, Child of the Moon, Guardian of the Light. Forevermore you will also be my daughter and I will always welcome you in my sacred glade. "

The Goddess stepped closer to her and embraced the girl with a hug. She then looked at Nyr while holding Mira close to her.

" Nyr, I have prepared the vial for you. This time, please do not break it. "

The raven nodded at her.

" Please, can you leave us with Mira together? " the goddess asked the raven who then bowed before her and exited the portal.

She then turned to the girl and smiled.

" You, my child, are destined for great things. "

"Great things?"

She tilted her head and scratched the back of her head.

"I never expected a lot of this to happen...meeting a goddess, pushing her with shockwaves, getting her blessing and her hugging me. I think I've had enough great things happen to me."

" You are here in this world for a reason, my child. " she smiled at her. " The darkness consumes Fable Wood, and only you and your allies are powerful enough to stand the tide of shadow. Hopefully with my blessing you will be able to do so. "

She walked back and sat back on her throne.

" Farewell, my daughter. " she said to her " Know that I will always watch over you. And please, guide Nyr if you can. She has a kind heart, but her past constantly haunts her. She needs more than allies... she needs friends. "

"Farewell, Mother. I will try." She bowed slightly and exited through the portal, hoping to see Nyr.

"The tide of darkness, but what about balance? You cannot have Good without Bad, Light without Dark."

She thought aloud, her hands running through her hair.

Nyr stood at the outside of the portal, waiting for Mira to emerge. She was happy that this journey went better than expected.

When she was the girl exiting from the portal she smiled at her and bowed her head.

" You were amazing. " she exclaimed. " Mother was never so impressed like this time! I am happy that you are with me... sister. "

She embraced her, wrapping her wings around her as she watched the moonlight portal close behind them. She then looked at Mira and asked.

" Sis, now that we are done... do you fancy to soar around Branbern? "

She spread her wings, eager to fly. She would love to bring her new found sister around for a flight... only if she wanted of course.

Smiling at her happily Nyr transformed into her true form, bowing her head so that Mira could mount her. After she was certain that she was all right she lifted off and they soared through the night sky.

The Moon was their guide and guardian and even now Nyr felt the smile of her blessed mother upon her and her sister. She enjoyed the freedom as they flew above the forest and eventually back and around the bit city. The inhabitants were still quite awake and were busy working and they looked in awe as the two of them at the miles away in every beat of wing. Eventually she landed near the gates of the town where she transformed back to her human guise. For the first time in a very long time she felt truly happy. She finally had more than just a mother - she now had a little sister to look after.

Mira had loved the experience, the wind tangling her hair and the idea of having a sister.

How long have I been without one?

She answered herself aloud.

"Far too long."

"That was amazing!" She hugged Nyr again. "I love you, sister."

((Holy cow, when you guys post, you really post! That was intense, but an awesome bit of writing xD This is why I make these rps. All that has been added in the updates for those who need the TLDR))

"I'm Leia" she told Anya as she helped herself to some cucumber sandwiches. "I've seen a lot of crazy things since I got here but, we've got some pretty good friends. Don't worry, rest up, you can think about whether you want to come with us or not. I can't say it will be entirely safe though, but, we can do things here...as humans I mean, we aren't normal." For emphasis the air spirit appeared again and draped itself about Leia's shoulders, its translucent, serpentine body glinting in the sun.

"I think I can actually call this guy, he saved my life when we got attacked by a giant this morning." Leia did a double-take on what had just come out of her mouth...it sounded insane.

Ward caught site of Nyr and Mira as they flew over. He waved to them. He would fill them in when they met up again, which he hoped would be soon because they would need to leave before long. The sun was slowly falling to the horizon and he wanted to reach their destination before the last light faded. It was a good thing there would be a full moon tonight because he couldn't see at all well in the dark.

The armoury was detached from the palace, a stone building with elegantly sculpted stones which were stained pitch black around the forge chimney that sat to one end of the red tile roof. Ward could feel the heat of the forge fire on his face as soon as the door was open. The cheery clank of hammer on metal bounced off the walls. Inside was much larger than it appeared on the outside, no doubt a magic in the stonework. The walls were cluttered with tools and half-finished swords, axes and pikes.

The source of the happy clanking was a soot-stained and sweaty dwarf with a long red beard. He scowled intently at the dagger he was re-shaping, a brilliant sapphire embedded in the hilt.

He looked up as they came in and his eyebrows lifted ever so slightly.

"Gryphon." He said in a curt fashion, then his gaze shifted to the others who had intruded on his work.

"Princess sent ye to get equipped then? Right, follow me."

Ward stepped through the doorway. "Ah! Not you!" he froze immediately. "You know the rules bird, outside, and wait until they're done."

Ward sighed and nodded, slipping past his companions to sit in the grass outside the shop.

Leia looked from the dwarf to Ward in disbelief. "What the heck was that about?" She demanded.

"He's a gryphon. Can't look at anything shiny without bad things happening. There's a lot of precious gems and metals in here. He stays outside."

The dwarf scowled at her. Leia scowled right back.

"Your name must be Grumpy then." Leia stated irritably.

"What sort of stupid name is that?" The dwarf barked. "Trindle." He added. "I'm Trindle"

Leia leaned over to her companions and spoke softly "Grumpy suits him better."

"Right! Come along then!" The dwarf led them through the forge room to a brighter room, with windows and white walls and...racks upon racks of every weapon imaginable, each beautifully crafted with intricate carvings animals, forests or battles. On the far wall was armour of every description; from leather to chain mail to something that looked much to light and airy to even be armour.

"Take your pick, these weapons are special; they know how to do battle and if you let them; they will train you...oh, and if ye are travelling with him," The dwarf poked a grubby finger out the window at Ward. "do yerselves a favour and
don't pick anything that shines."

Leia sceptically picked up a bow. It was fairly plain compared to the rest of the pieces there, a dark wood with a green leather hand grip. She slipped on the arm guard, which was studded with reddish metal bolts. On the outside was a solid plate of the same metal carved into the shape of a stooping falcon.

The string notches on each end of the weapon were reinforced with red metal too and carved into falcon heads, on the beaks of which the string was to rest. Leia took an arrow fletched in green feather and notched it experimentally, pointing it back into the forge room and clear of anything living. She could feel a small tug at her shoulders, coupled with a feeling that she wasn't doing it quite right. She shifted position, her back becoming straighter and her shoulder blades shifting closer together and her elbow falling level with her shooting arm. Suddenly the sensations were gone and she let fly.

The arrow rocketed into the forge room and Leia winced as she heard a loud "kethuck!"

She rushed into the room to see what she had hit. The arrow jutted from the direct middle of a target board that had been placed on the opposite wall.

"Whoa." was all she could manage.

Anya looked amazed and impressed when Leia had shown off her ability to call the spirit to her. She said little, but shook her head and mumbled "Giant? You can't be serious." To herself.

In the end, though, she decided to follow Leia to the armory. She'd never actually been in any sort of actual armory, and wanted to see a glimpse of what she'd be getting herself into. Besides, her brother would love it if she could bring a real sword back for him... If she ever got back. She shook those thoughts from her head and as Leia tried out the bow, she asked the dwarf "Gryphons like precious gems and metals? I thought that was dragons?" She knew very little about mythical creatures. She examined some of the things in the room as she spoke, she'd tried archery in school a couple of times and learned that she was no better than average at it- that is, average for a group of 7th and 8th graders who had never even tried archery before. As the dwarf replied, she hesitantly reached Bright silvery sword with jeweled inlays, but in her hand it felt much too heavy and cumbersome, and just... generally not right. She set it back down, then decided on something lighter. She reached for a set of daggers, longer than a knife, but shorter than swords. They had beautifully carved handles and the blades had a dark pattern on them, like long hair curling towards the tips. These felt right in her hands, not that she thought she'd know what to do with them.

(I'm gonna add a picture, if you don't want it here, just tell me and I'll delete it :)

Elena followed along quietly and obediently with Leia, now Anya, and Ward. She fell way too easily back into a quiet and lonely temperament. Not much to go about it, so why fight the quiet seclusion. Maybe because she was over the shock of being there, her depression was making an ugly return.

She came to an armory, watching the gruff redheaded dwarf. She watched in amusement as Ward was kicked out. Before she could ask why, her question was answered. The book in her hand, she soon realized it became like a part of her, she figured there was no reason to be there. Instead she just looked upon the weapons with interest.
