Escapists (1x1) [Telios & Azimuth]

Scarlet and Magnus looked at Nathan. "maggy, think he's delusional?" Scarlet asked Magnus. "it's Magnus. And I'd be careful what you say in case he can understand us." "what ever, maggy. You can stay here with dumb and dumber while I go find s-......." she stopped talking, and stopped walking towards the tree, as she had been. High up in the branches of the tree, was perched about a hundred owls, talons agleaming as they donned their battle claws.

"I'm not delusional..." Nathan said before looking up at the owls. "Not good. Magnus, Scarlet, a bit help?" He said, stunned in place.

Two snowy owls landed on branches lower than the rest. "friend or foe." a male voice called. "that depends. Which option let's us keep our feathers and freedom?" called Scarlet. "that would be the 'friend' option." the male snowy responded. "we'll take that option then." Scarlet said. "you travel with one of the others?" asked the female snowy. "one of the others?" Scarlet asked with tilt of her head. "the thing to your right." the female Clarified. Scarlet looked at Nathan again. "oh, that thing? That's just my human." Scarlet responded casually.

"I'm friendly..." Nathan answered, looking up at the owls.

"I am glad to hear that. However, we can't simply leave you unattended. Do forgive us, but we shall post guards to keep an eye on you... Human..... We have also discovered another of your kind. It is wounded, but we are tending to it." as a great Gray landed by the snowy, Scarlet asked "you specified only he will get guards? What about us?" "you all may stay, but we can't provide food for the humans." replied the female. "we simply can't spare that much. They will have to hunt for themselves." "they can do that. So, may I see this other human? Maybe I know them." the female is the one to respond again, as the male is preoccupied talking to the great grey. "you may. But to avoid damage to the great tree, your human must stay by the base." she said. Scarlet based waddling towards the tree, muttering. "great tree. Sounds like something Azimuth kept going on about." "uh, Scarlet? Do we really want to go towards the owls with weapons?" Magnus asked. Scarlet ignored him while the female turned around. "there is no threat here. You may return to your chaws." only a couple of owls flew back into the tree. Most of them stayed, just out of curiosity. "take a picture, it'll last longer." Scarlet would say. The female snowy spoke up again. "you all have tasks to complete. Go complete them." now the majority of the owls flew back I to the tree, leaving only the two snowy owls and the great grey.

Nathan just sighed and sat at the base of the tree.

(You should go to bed. And i will make my owl tomorrow.)

"you there, we shall take you to the other other." the female snowy said to Scarlet. "it's a human. Get it right." the male grumbled. "we shall take you to the other human while twilight keeps an eye on this one." the great grey, twilight, puffs up a little. "bruh, get cocky around a human and it'd flatten you. Not a threat, just a friendly warning." Scarlet then flew upwards to the two. "Maggy, you coming?" while the great grey was stunned by scarlets 'warning', Magnus flew up to follow the snowy owls, and Scarlet. "it's Magnus." he mumbled.

"we must be careful anyway. If you require anything, perhaps something to hunt with, ask twilight he will send for someone." then the snowy and short-eared owls flew off, deeper into the tree. Twilight flew to a slightly lower branch after snapping out of the trance he seemed to have been under.

"I can hunt on my own."

A black owl chick, known as Perdo, suddenly dropped from the tree, seemingly heading towards Nathan. Nathan spotted it and caught it gently, afraid of hurting it.

"my name Is Borren. And this is my mate, Barran." the tree was a bustle of other owls flying about, tending to their business. Scarlet dodged and weaved to avoid oncoming owls, where as Magnus struggled. "I presume you've heard the tales of Ga'hoole. To have flown this far, and to wait for the oth-... Human, to swim here would take much dedication to keep going." Borren said. "we didn't fly or swim. We simply appeared. Don't ask how. We don't know." Scarlet responded. Borren spun his head around and began to ask how, but caught himself. "the human is just down here." the two snowy owls entered a small dive.

Perdo looked up at Nathan and tried to back away, even trying to claw him. Nathan sighed and let him go. Perdo flapped his wings as if he wanted to fly.

Twilight hopped down towards the spotted eagle owlet. "hay there, Perdo. What are you doing out of your hollow." he landed in front of Perdo. And Perdo would certainly know twilight was no threat to him, as it was twilight who had rescued him.

"I tried to fly..." Perdo answered, looking up at him. "But I can't." He said, looking away.

"Perdo, your flight training is literally ten minutes away! You couldn't wait that long? Unlike what I had, you have others willing to teach you. Don't pass up a chance like that! Let's get you back up to the hollow before the nest maids find out you're missing." he said, with his usual gusto.

The elf owl, and apparently blind snake that was the nest maid, stared at Perdo. There would be a worm on the owlets wing, but this was standard medical practice. "Perdo, I thought you would have known better than to try and fly before you are ready." said the nest maid. He head swayed towards twilight. "thank you for bringing him back, dear twilight. I'll deal with him from here." "he was just eager to fly, that was all. I shall say again that branching is only... Say, eight minutes or so away. Just stay here until Ezlryb comes to retrieve you." twilight then took off, back to his post as human watcher. The nest maid tisked at Perdo. "come and lay back in the down. I brought some vole with me. Fur and bone. The only way Ezlryb allows his chaw members eat." she murmured her next line. "why he's making you eat it now when you're not is his chaw is beyond me..."

Perdo went quiet when Twilight left and was left alone with the nest maid. He doesn't like her, but that doesn't mean that he hate her at all. He followed her and and started to eat.

The elf owl, Perdo's hollow mate, nudged him. "I told you you should have just waited." she said. Mrs. P, not to be mistaken for plithiver, tended the nest, ensuring the down was nice and fluffy. "you should have listened to chip, young one.... I can't help but notice you still don't like me all that much."

Perdo looked up at Chip. "I know I know..." He said tiredly. "I wish I'm not haunted by it." Then he looked over at Plithren. "I only have came here for a week. I can't really fit in yet..."

"you'll adjust eventually." just then, the old screech owl landed on the branch just outside the hollow. He locked his perpetually squinting eyes on the spotted eagle owl. "are you both ready for your first branching?" he said in a gravelly tone. Plithren slithered up to Ezlryb. "I'm afraid chip is still unable to start her flight train yet, Ezlryb. Her feathers are still singed beyond use." she explained as she coiled up. "well then, I suppose it's a one on one lesson. None of the other owlets are ready yet. Come on. Follow me." with that, he turned and took off from the branch.

Alright... Calm down. Just keep calm and nothing will stop you... Perdo mentally prepared himself before running after Ezlryb and dove off. Starting to glice, Perdo then tried to flap his wing to keep his altitude.

Perdo would be narrowly missed by two owls, right off the mark. One was a barn owl, who flapped a little harder to get ahead of Perdo, while the other, a short-eared owl, nearly clipped his tail feathers. "careful!" the short-eared owl called back as she continued on her way. Ezlryb landed on a branch and watched the event.

Perdo almost lost his balance when the two owls flew by but he luckily kept it. He almost reached the branch that Ezlryb was on until a flashback of when his parents got killed suddenly came out of nowhere. He lost his balance immediately and began to fall. "No no no..." He mumbled as he tried to regain his balance and glide but that didn't happen.

Seeming to have appeared from nowhere, the barn owl flew ahead of Perdo, as did the short-eared owl. "wings to full extension!" called the barn owl. Perdo may begin to feel a drag as they fell. The ground was quickly approaching.
