Fandom Dragon Ball: Limitless!

As Kendra exited the ship, it explained the 24,000 of the power level inside the ship. The other 16,000 was still unaccounted for. However, he was able to identify it for the rest of the power for them. Era and Sil. The two women whose power levels that last Itta seen no where near added up to 16k. Granted they were down at the time, but he heard that their power didn’t even break one thousand. Now they were walking out of the ship with eight times that.

Itta knew that being soundly defeated grants an increase to a sayians power level, but never this drastic. Stunned by this development, he couldn’t keep any kind of pose any longer, mostly just starting mouth slightly ajar at the two new medium class sayians. The words they spoke seemed to go through one ear and out the other as the weakest member stood stunned.

Finally coming to his senses, he was able to catch the last words said by his sub-commander. Anyone will be able to access this power? Their maximum level grow over twenty times as strong by just tapping into the warm source inside of him. Limitless power at his fingertips. His father’s handicap no longer being a burden. A smile grew wide across his face as his hope for the future grew brighter by the second.

“The sub-commander is right,” Itta stated, “If there really is an unlimited source of energy that resides in us, we should all be able to tap into it. The potential is unbelievable!”

There is a stigma that men are more powerful than women, but I beg to differ. I’ll show you the power of a Saiyan who is also a woman!

"To grow up alone is a fate unbecoming of a Saiyan, but it has made me stronger than I dared hope. I can only continue to hope, and with luck I'll always have Era by my side to push me to even greater heights."

The Mobile base touched down, with the Commander's Scouter going nuts about a near 40,000 power level within. He slowly powered up to his own maximum just in case the Base had been raided and the girls done away with, but as the doors opened he was shocked to see Kendra walking out first by herself in something of a daze.

"Kendra, what happened in that ship?" He asked.

The power level within the base dropped significantly, but at almost 16,000, it was still a very high power level. Kendra was still in something of a daze, and half heartedly looked to the Commander as her brain finally registered his question.

"I-... I don't know," she said softly.

"What do you mean 'you don't know?' Explain why there is a power level of almost 16,000 in the Base!" He ordered.

Kendra flinched slightly, and turned her head to look at the doors.

"Well sir... That would be the work of Era and Sil." She said quietly.

The Commander's jaw dropped a little.

"Their power levels are 300 and 420 Kendra... You're telling me that they are causing a power level of near 16,000 to be coming from that vessel?" He demanded.

"Yes, sir. They are causing it. Not more than three days ago their power levels suddenly started spiking dramatically. I thought it was a sensor malfunction, but when my Scouter confirmed the readings I..." She couldn't finish he sentence.

"............ Era! Sil'Eph! Come here at once!" He demanded in a loud voice.

It took a moment for the two women to appear, but there they were. Fully recovered as if nothing had ever happened, and far, far more powerful than ever before.

Era's new power was reflected in her vibrant and confident expression, a wide smile plastered on her face. Sil, however, was a slightly different story. Her new maximum potential, a healthy 8,190, brought her no outward signs of confidence. If anything, she looked very meek and unsure of herself. Her expression was more solemn, almost as if she knew she did something wrong.

The Commander approached the two women.

"So... Tell me how." He ordered.

Era's confidence didn't waver, but her expression faded from a smile to an uncertain and thoughtful half scowl.

"Honestly, Commander, I don't know. When I was unconscious, I was dreaming of something strange. It was a new kind of energy I've never encountered before. In fact I don't believe any Saiyan has encountered it before. It felt warm. Infinite. Like it was the embodiment of limitless potential and a lack of borders or boundaries. As I was unconscious I fought to embrace this feeling, and after I did I could feel myself changing. I thought it was all just in my dreams, but when I awoke I found I had in fact changed. There's really no better way to describe it." She said, her smile returning.

The Commander glared at her.

"So you're telling me you acquired this new power because of a warm fuzzy feeling in your dreams?"

She nodded.

"Essentially yes, Commander. I am. But more than that, there is a new kind of feeling within me. It's that energy I mentioned before. It's not Chaotic, Focused, or Concentrated. It's not my life force either. I know all four of them very well. This is some fifth kind of energy, and as I embraced it my body responded and began to release the limitations it was previously bound to. That's really all I can say about it at the moment as I don't fully understand anything beyond that. But I believe that's what happened, and, respectfully, I will not complain or question the result. By virtue of this new potential both Sil and I will be promoted to Middle Class Saiyans when we return to Metahnn. Honestly, sir, I can hardly wait for that day." She said excitedly.

The Commander was silent, taking this all in. Nei and Kendra were perplexed and uncertain of this development, and Sub-Commander Urod seemed a bit skeptical about the explanation as well. But there it was, standing right in front of them. A new kind of power never before encountered by the Saiyan Race had broken the genetic limitations upon both Era and Sil and allowed them to reach power levels unimaginable for Low Class warriors.

"I... am not sure what to think about this." The Commander said distractedly.

Urod came forward a moment later.

"With all due respect, sir, I believe this is a most fortuitous turn of events. Strange as it may be, Era and Sil have now acquired power which should be beyond their grasp. What's to say the rest of us will not be able to do the same when and if we learn of how to access this new type of energy? He said.

The Commander was silent, but slowly nodded his head as he thought long and hard of the possibilities of what this change represented to Raid Group 02A.

When Karas arrived, he stepped off the ship, well-rested, pushing his crate with him. Then, his Scouter beeped. There was an extremely high power level in there, almost as high as Black Comedy's. He saw Era and Sil emerge from the spaceship. Kendra had exited as well, explaining most of the 40,000 units of power. But the rest was coming from Era and Sil.

"Surpassing the genetic limit..." Karas said in wonder. "Theoretically, it should be possible for us to all gain power like that. Though I doubt it's limited to just Era and Sil, we can't rule the possibility out. The Saiyans have existed for centuries, the odds of no-one knowing about this and it only being discovered now seems a little odd."

Denezen said:
“The sub-commander is right,” Itta stated, “If there really is an unlimited source of energy that resides in us, we should all be able to tap into it. The potential is unbelievable!”
"And I bet you'll be even more deadly alongside my latest creations," Karas told him with a smirk. While he did detest Purge and Wipe raids, he exhibited his species' seemingly innate pride in massive amounts of destructive force.

"Is anyone interested in seeing what I've cooked up?"

He flipped a switch on the outside of the crate, causing it to fold open. Inside were two folded-up machines bristling with weapons. He pushed them away from each other, reached down into their backs, and pulled a switch.

The black robot and white robot unfolded and stood up, each possessing a towering height of 8'5."

The white robot deployed plasma blades that extended from its wrists a full 3 feet, with its fists clenched in the classic Wolverine pose. Meanwhile, the black robot raised a battery of guns of various types.

Karas introduced them. "I figured I may as well demonstrate my robots before we get started, so here they are, Commander. The white robot is Comedy, and the black robot is Tragedy. As you can see, Comedy is a close-range robot designed to butcher opponents with plasma blades. What you can't see is that it can electrify its casing to incapacitate or electrocute enemies on contact. In the chest cavity is a heated, weighted net designed to cook an opponent alive. Comedy moves extremely quickly as well, at the cost of toughness."

"Tragedy is a ranged robot designed to overwhelm an opponent with firepower. It is armed with a heavy laser and a selective-fire mass driver, along with recoilless plasma cannons on its shoulders to mimic ki users. The plasma cannons can be used as mortars to hit fortified positions or powerful enemies miles away. It's physically stronger than Comedy, but slower due to the bulkiness of its weapons."

"And then there's their most dangerous feature." He gave them a command with his arm computer, and they moved towards each other, actively reconfiguring themselves into a new machine. When it was done, he said, "This is Black Comedy, their fusion. It has an equivalent power level of 50,000, compared to its components' 20,000. It has all of their strengths and none of their weaknesses. What do you think?"

"Well, I suppose we should get to whatever we were here to do anyway," Karas said.

The Commander glanced to Itta, who's enthusiasm seemed boundless. He then glanced to Karas, seemingly thoughtful as ever. But his gaze returned to Itta, a slight scowl on his face.

"Potential is one thing, Itta. But even potential has limits. But a limitless source of power?... That's beyond dangerous, and only a fool would pursue it blindly." He said solemnly.

Sub-Commander Urod nodded.

"I agree. While the thought of attaining higher levels of power and breaking through our genetic limit is tantalizing at first, I must admit that the thought of going beyond what we've evolved to cope with is nothing short of intimidating." He said.

Kendra had finally shaken off the daze of Era and Sil's power increase, and spoke as well.

"Personally, I think it would be interesting to see if we can't at least tap this potential. Nobody said we need to push ourselves to unreasonable extents, Sub-Commander. No disrespect intended, sir." She said.

Nei was next.

"I agree. We must at least attempt to learn how to harness this ability. If we can grow stronger this way, slowly increasing our powers each and every time we embark on a mission, we could someday become powerful enough to destroy even Overlord Inecros and allow our ancient brothers to rest in peace. As long as that monstrosity draws breath, they will never rest." He said.

The Commander took all of these thoughts in stride, thinking long and hard about the consequences before deciding to break the news to everyone.

"All well and good opinions, everyone. I'm glad you feel safe speaking out. But I'm afraid our quest for power will have to wait... We were sent on a suicide mission by Command, and meant to die on a world half the galaxy away in the opposite direction from this one." He said.

Kendra and Nei both arched an eyebrow.

"Who would dare attempt to send us on a suicide mission?" She said, a slight growl in her voice.

"I have no answer to that question, but it's the truth. I had just enough time to speak with an ally I have inside the higher ranks, and he confirmed for me that someone has been sending more and more of us out to die on suicide missions these last several months. Also, he informed me that there are rumors of a power level which 'cannot be measured' approaching Metahnn from beyond our galaxy's edge. But the fact that this power can be detected by our satellite power sensors is proof of the fact that it is not just a rumor. Our Scouters are not powerful enough to detect it, but I saw the images of the results of the readings myself... I fear it's him." He warned.

"You believe Overlord Inecros is approaching Metahnn? But how? There's no way he could have found us. Our ancient brothers made certain of that!"

The Commander nodded.

"So I thought too, Nei. So I thought too." He mumbled.

"If it is true, then Metahnn is doomed. Inecros' power is beyond comprehension, and nobody can defeat him as it stands now... Sir, I believe our course is clear. As dangerous as it may be, if we are to survive and save our race, we must all access this power Era and Sil have since unlocked and continue to fight and raise our power levels as high as possible. It's the only choice we have."

"He's right Commander... Kara, Itta. What do you think?" She asked.

After the commander slightly reprimanded one of his newest members for his eager words, Itta’s bright face fell. With the added words of the Sub-Commander, he finally began to wonder the true consequences of unlimited power. However, they were talking about unimaginable power. The kind almost every sayian dreamed of pursuing, Itta included though in a slightly more focused approach. How could they not see how far this limitless power could actually go. The remaining officers seem to think along this line as well.

But before Itta could voice his support on the way the conversation was going, the commander finally informed them of the reason they were on this planet. If it were any other topic, he would have wondered if Korvaiis was just trying to change topic. But it was a suicide mission. Itta couldn’t believe it. His first raid, and it would have been his last if his commander didn’t have his foresight. As the news kept coming, it became only graver. No idea who could behind these death raids. For seven months the death toll has been rising. And the final news, their destroyer had found them.

Itta’s face has lost all composure. What just moments ago seemed like he could finally become as strong as he wanted, he now faced certain death. The monster from two centuries ago, who his people are still trying to recover from. Overlord Inecros had finally found them and was somehow leading raid groups to their deaths through some kind of high up traitor. Even with the throught of unlimited power, how long before they could even hope to match the genocidal mad man.

When Kendra faced the two newest recruits and asked what they thought, it finally clicked in Itta’s head. His mouth slowly turned into a smile as a chuckle escaped. Eventually the weakest saiyan was holding his knees as he was laughing too hard. Finally catching his break, he spoke what it was he realized.

“This is a joke isn’t it? Some kind of twisted initiation for the newbies? First you tell us the power levels of the two members in a coma are in the hundreds when they are 8 thousand each, then you come up with a raid just to have them wake up to display their full power. Have them give some impossible dream with unlimited power. And just when we think we have the key to the power everyone has ever dreamed of, you tell us are grim reaper is heading towards our home right now.”

Itta takes a few breaths with some laughs as he catches his air from the small rant. After about two or three breaths, he straightened up his posture and continued with a serious attitude.

“Is this still part of the initiation? The questions about limits on strength and power, and then presented with limitless potential on the first raid? And the one about fighting alongside all of you on the front lines? Is this still a test by putting us up against an unbeatable foe?! I stand by my answers. I will continue to grow strong, even if my power never raises. And even if this is all true, then I will stand and fight against Inecros. Every sayian alive wants a chance of revenge against him, and if he is the raid we are taking then I will gladly take my chance with this group.”

Finished, Itta stood tall staring at the other members. Test or not, Itta said what he thought. Unlimited power, the Overlord returning. It was so much. But he was a sayian, and more than that he is an Estrella. There was nothing that was too much for him. He would explore the well of unlimited power, and use everything he found to fight against the one who slaughtered his ancestors.

"He's right Commander... Kara, Itta. What do you think?" She asked.
Karas was all ready to show off his newest creations, when the commander began getting to the actual purpose of the meeting.

The entire department was being sent on suicide missions this whole time...? Karas thought. This could be the work of a dissident of the Saiyan war machine, but it's more likely that it is a traitor.

"There is another option," Karas said as he unboxed his crate, since he didn't get a chance to demonstrate them before. "Within this crate are two robots with power levels of 20,000, capable of fusing into a robot of 50,000. And these are the first generation. If the Saiyan Empire falls, which it sounds like it will, I won't have the resources to make, say, an army of them, but..."

He then pulled back the bodysuit on his left arm, revealing his prosthesis. "...my left arm, though robotic, contains artificial ki pathways, a technology that allows prosthetics to draw ki from the torso into the limb. This meant that as my power increased, the arm's durability and strength changed to reflect it. Because it has no ki of its own, it slightly lowers the power level of my whole body, but that's a small price to pay for an arm that can strike with a time and a half again of my power level and can use ki attacks. Now imagine someone with the steadily-rising power levels of Era and Sil in a powered exoskeleton running on this technology. Effectively, we can create a cybernetic fighter that is greater than the sum its parts. If Era, for example, gets her power to 50,000 or so, in an exoskeleton with the efficiency of my arm that equates to an effective power of 75,000. As I continue to improve the technology, I can create ever-increasing power multipliers, potentially great enough to hold its own against Inecros."

Karas' face grew dark as Itta went on his little rant about this being a joke. "Do you seriously think Korvaiis would be joking about something like this? First of all, I was actually on that last raid with Era and Sil as a temporary. Their power levels really were under 500, just like mine. On top of this, the average power level of that planet we were on was about 10,000 to 20,000, with elites of around 30,000. We only succeeded because the moon was full the day after the battle. We had to resort to getting the Elites into Ozaru form for that raid. Korvaiis isn't lying."

"And second, there's no point in trying to take him out right now. While power level doesn't mean everything--hell, I built one of my robots around that principle--it's still important, and gets more important as the gap increases. An opponent like Inecros won't even react to your blows. According to my data files, Era's fighting style doesn't really rely on raw power either, and she wound up comatose from fighting a superior opponent! What do you think Inecros would do to you and I? We need to properly prepare before facing him."

The Commander listened to Karas and Itta, and was slightly irked that Itta thought it a joke. But then again, Overlord Inecros was something of a boogy man. A tale to scare children into training harder. But he was real. Since he was always in the backs of their minds the real potential of the threat had eluded much of the Saiyan race until that point. But now the threat was coming to their door, and it was time to make a decision which tore the Commander's heart clean in two.

"... We must abandon our home," he said calmly.

Urod was less than pleased, but more shocked than anything else.

"Commander. You cannot be serious! I understand the threat Inecros poses and I mean no disrespect sir, but abandoning our home and our race? Could there be a more cowardly way of dealing with this situation?"

Nei and Kendra voiced similar complaints, but the Commander tuned them out until they were finished.

"I have analyzed this course from every angle, and if we are to survive we must stay away from Metahnn and never return. If my information is correct, Inecros is due to arrive in approximately seventeen days. I brought us here to spare us the pain of seeing our kind and our home world destroyed and us along with it. Perhaps the warrior's code says "death before dishonor," but what honor is there in dying, I ask? Really? What honor is there in dying Urod?" He asked, turning to his Sub-Commander.

"An honorable death means more than a coward's turning tail and running."

Korvaiis arched an eyebrow.

"You dodged the question, Urod. Tell me what honor there is in dying and how it benefits you or your legacy when there is none around to know you ever existed? The Saiyans isolate themselves from the rest of the universe, only engaging in business with others when it suits our purposes. If the Saiyan race is wiped out, nobody would know. Nobody would care. Where is the honor in being wiped from all existence as if you never existed at all?" He asked.

Urod took a breath, but chose not to speak as he released a sigh of resignation.

"Overlord Inecros will destroy Metahnn. There's nothing we can do about that. Our kinsman will die. Our home world will be lost. And there's nothing we can do... Yet." He said, turning to Era and Sil who were looking heartbroken at this news.

"Era... How soon can you teach everyone here how to harness that power?"

She blinked.

"I... I don't think it's something I can teach, sir. From what little I understand about it, it's already there inside all of us. It's just dormant. Waiting."

"Waiting for what?"

Era shook her head.

"I don't know..."

"A lot of help that is to us Era. Knowing that we have it, but don't have it." Urod snapped.

Era flinched.

"Sub-Commander, that's enough sir. It's not her fault she doesn't understand a power she never knew existed." Kendra barked.

"Be silent!" Urod shouted.

"Sir, please. Calm yourself." Nei said, standing between them.

"You dare stand before me in such a threatening manner?!" Urod shouted, as Nei's posture did mean he was ready for a fight.

"That's enough, all of you!" Korvaiis shouted.

Everyone looked to him, but Urod's insistence that Era's lack of knowledge made her discovery worthless sparked another argument which the Commander was drawn into.

All the while, however, Era's eyes were closed and she was completely relaxed. She focused inward on that power within her body, feeling it out until she locked onto it once more and let it's warm embrace engulf her from head to toe. Her power level slowly started rising, having been sitting comfortably at around 1,700 and slowly rising to 2,400. Everyone's Scouter's were informed of this change, and they all turned to look at her as her body glowed with a subtle crimson light with her hair waving about gently and elegantly behind her.

She becalmed her flowing Ki, her power dropping back down to 1,700, and the glow fading from existence as she opened her eyes.

"I believe I just discovered a method of helping everyone unlock this potential. If you would, everyone, join hands with Sil and I. I cannot 'teach' you how to unlock this power, but perhaps I can 'share' it with you. Maybe feeling its presence within me will help you lock onto it within yourself?" She suggested.

"... Well, it's worth a try I suppose." Korvaiis said calmly.

"Ridiculous..."

"Urod. Please."

The Sub-Commander grumbled, but relented.

"Nei. Kendra."

The two of them nodded.

"Karas. Itta." He said, looking in their direction.

An opponent like Inecros won't even react to your blows. According to my data files, Era's fighting style doesn't really rely on raw power either, and she wound up comatose from fighting a superior opponent! What do you think Inecros would do to you and I? We need to properly prepare before facing him."
Itta flinched slightly at being called out on trying to make light of the situation. But it was impossible to fully comprehend. His first raid mission, and it was already the extinction of his race. As the mechanic continued, the reality of the situation sunk in even deeper. There really was nothing they could do in this moment.

Kyero said:

And then the commander said it. Leaving the race to their fate, turning tail, and living to fight another day. Itta would of voiced his objection with Urod, but felt he had already said enough. He sat in silence as the commander made the impossible decision to leave his race to its second extinction so that their group could survive. Itta would of refused adamantly if it was just to run off and start over again like their people did two centuries ago, but this time they would eventually be able to fight back.

If everything he has been told is true, than at least there was a silver lining to all of this. Unlimited power, or at least a way to bypass their genetic limit. Who knew how far the seemingly bottomless pit of potential actually went. But still, his entire race for this opportunity was a deal he would never make, but at least they got something. Stepping forward into the forming circle of 02A, Itta move his hands outwards to those who would with into this new age.

The two of them nodded.

"Karas. Itta." He said, looking in their direction.
Truth be told, Karas hated the vast majority of Saiyans, and the society he was in. The Saiyans stole from everyone, had no allies, traded with no-one unless it suited them, were almost completely insular and simple-minded, heavy on tradition to the point of stifling their own culture (he was looking at you, Commander Lussar), bloodthirsty to the point where there was a shortage of civilians to keep the species alive (which was absurd, but true), committed genocide on a daily basis, and in general were savages compared to the aliens he had met on those space stations and whose broadcasts he intercepted. Karas wouldn't miss Metahnn, that was for sure.

And while Saiyan aggression was for the most part innate, it was amplified by their society, which was fundamentally built around aggression. If Inecros wiped everything off the map and he survived with his Raid Group, he might just be able to create a better society in the Saiyan Empire's place. Inecros might just be the best thing that had ever happened to the Saiyans.

But back to the matter at hand.

"This is absurd, but I suppose it's worth a shot..." Karas trailed off as he stepped into the circle and held hands with Itta and Era. Itta's palm was sweaty. He hoped it was over soon.

There is a stigma that men are more powerful than women, but I beg to differ. I’ll show you the power of a Saiyan who is also a woman!

sil_eph_by_kumoriryuu-d9d6u7n.jpg

"To grow up alone is a fate unbecoming of a Saiyan, but it has made me stronger than I dared hope. I can only continue to hope, and with luck I'll always have Era by my side to push me to even greater heights."

Everyone in the group joined hands, and Era nodded.

"Okay... Now, everyone please listen to the sound of my breathing. Synchronize your breaths with my own, and close your eyes. Allow your minds to empty of all thoughts, be they positive or negative, and focus only on the sound of my breath." She said.

She closed her eyes and began to breathe slowly. A deep breath in... A deep breath out. Deep breath in... Deep breath out.

One breath at a time, she breathed over and over. One breath at a time, she used to calm and still her heartbeat. As Sil listened, she breathed at the same time as Era. It was a kind of odd and embarrassing thing to try and breathe at the same time as Era like this. It felt silly. But as she continued to do so, she found herself lulled into something of a trance-like state.

Was this the kind of peace of mind Era was always in?

It was completely foreign to Sil, who's mind was always moving.

... No wonder she always defeated me before. If she's always this calm and clear minded... She thought.

But then even that thought drifted away, and there was only the sound of Era's breathing in unison with her own.

The same was true for the Commander, Sub-Commander, and Kendra and Nei as well. If it was true for Karas and Itta, she couldn't tell. But it had become true of them all before long.

Era's breathing technique had them all in a trance. Their hearts were calm... Their minds open.

It was then that Era began to concentrate on the sensation of that new and special power resting within her. She allowed it to grow, increasing her power level slowly and letting the warmth of it overflow. It was wondrous. A feeling of security unlike any she'd ever known. A power dwelling deep beneath the surface waiting to be unleashed. She could feel it. She could feel all of it. The sheer magnitude of the potential locked away...

... It was waiting.

And sure enough, as Sil continued to hold this trance-like state, she felt something new. It was a warmth from Era's hand to her own, slowly creeping up her arm. At first it nearly made her flinch, but as she relaxed herself she found it entering her chest where it began to almost dance with that warmth from her own body. That warmth from Era and Sil passed through her other arm and hand to Kendra, who now could also feel that dancing warmth of spirit and power within her as it passed to Nei, then to Itta, Karas, Urod, and back around to Korvaiis in a perfect circle of unified power.

Within all of the Raid Group, a new sensation previously unknown had made its appearance. That same power which rested within Era and Sil now ignited within the others, releasing a sensation of unbridled potential and overwhelming power hiding just beneath the surface forever out of reach until it was needed.

Along with it came a sense of understanding... This power was always there, and would forever remain. But it was not going to be as simple as reaching down and grabbing hold of it. This power needed something from them before it could be put to use. It wanted something they could not give by themselves. Before they could taste of its splendor, they'd have to pay for it in the only way the Saiyan body knew how... A Zenkai.

And finally, after a few more minutes, Era released the hands of Korvaiis and Sil. The chain was broken, but now it was truly out in the open that this new power and potential was all their own. Each of them had now released the genetic limitations which had plagued their race for so many eons.

Now... They were free.

It was certainly the most interesting training Itta has taken part of. It couldn’t even rightly be called training even though it was to gain more strength. It was more of a ritual. A circle of warriors holding hands and breathing together all to unlock unlimited potential. It was by far Itta’s strangest day. Soon, all of them seemed to be in unison, but nothing seemed to be happening. He wondered if he was the only one growing tired to see if the two could actually pass on their powers.

Then, he felt it. A surging heat started to pass through his arm and towards his body. As it reached his chest, he let out his breath with the group shakily as the warmth consumed his being. He didn’t feel himself growing in strength as the two others, but he the burning sensations seemed to changed him even as it started to make its way down his other arm.

As he felt the power pass to Karas, Itta took stock of the changes to his body. Even after it passed, he felt his power still stagnant at 275, but it was different. The only way he could subscribe it was that his power was in a larger container. His body that was once full at his current level now only had a drop in comparison to what it could now contain. Still standing in the circle, holding hands and breathing with the others, Itta waited as the others before him before the ritual to end before he could explore his new potential.

Karas paid attention solely to Era's breath. In, out, in, out. He had heard of this. Zazen? Mindfulness? Meditation? They were all concepts from a faraway species called the humans. They were similar to the Saiyans in some ways, but also much more peaceful and sophisticated. But he was losing concentration by thinking this, so he went back to listening to Era's breath. Eventually, he felt something. A great power, manifesting in himself, reaching from his left arm to his right and up out of his skin. It felt electrifying. He reveled in this new feeling, before the circle was broken.

The first thing Karas did after letting his hands fall to his sides and opening his eyes was scan himself. 2,600...nice! Not as much as I had expected, but certainly helpful.

@Kyero

"Well...that was exhilarating. I feel like I could fly across the galaxy in a second!" Then Karas took on his usual serious face and turned to Commander Korvaiis. "So...we're going to need an HQ and supplies. I think I know just where to go for the latter, Commander. I often visit alien space stations for parts, and I have some connections among the other species as a result. I also would suggest as a money-making operation we have some of our number take up bounty hunting. It'll help our power rise and serve as a source of income."

Korvaiis looked at his hands when the event was over.

It was... exhilarating.

The rush of what could only be described as a limitless potential and container without a lid passed through his mind. He could fight as hard as he wanted, and raise his power level beyond even the Super Elites before long... If only it was enough for defeating Inecros.

Then, Karas mentioned supplies and a money making opportunity. The Commander thought carefully on it, and then nodded.

"Agreed." He said, taking a moment to check this thoughts.

"I have a mind to make this planet our H.Q. for the time being. Nobody back on Metahnn knows about it, as I never reported its discovery when I found it the first time around. Inecros will not know to look for us here." He looked around, searching for a place to transfer the Mobile Base to make it a makeshift home for them.

"I'll set the Mobile Base on that plateau overlooking this plain. We'll set up our living quarters there. It's going to be cramped until we get our hands on more materials for shelters, but for now it will have to do."

He looked back to Karas.

"I will leave you in charge of our supplies, as I had indicated back on Metahnn during our initial meeting. Do what you must to bolster our communication and defensive capabilities. As for acquisition of said supplies, get in touch with whomever you can as fast as you can. We need to set up as thorough a network as possible before Inecros does away with our home worlds. We'll worry about the exact nature of our relationship with these connections of yours at a later time."

He turned to Urod.

"Urod, I'm putting you on watch. Nei, Kendra. You're on food detail. Get us a meal for the night. This planet is over 85,000 Ticks in diameter, making it nearly four times the size of Metahnn so you have plenty to choose from without fear of depleting the population counts."

He looked to Itta.

"Itta. I want you to wait for me out in the valley to the East. You should see it the moment you take off and clear the tree line. You and I are going to train to give you your first taste of this newfound potential you've unlocked." He said.

He looked back to Era and Sil.

"And you two. I want you to concentrate on getting used to your power. You both have a vast potential to draw from, but are only used to a small percentage of it. Train. Meditate. Do whatever you must to get used to your new powers as quickly as possible. I want you both at 100% before we move to our next stage of survival against Inecros."

Era saluted.

"Already have several ideas in mind, sir. Leave it to me." She said.

Sil was a bit unsure of the whole thing, but nodded anyway.

"All right. Time to get to work everyone. Get to it!" He ordered.

Urod flew away to establish a perimeter. Nei and Kendra flew away to hunt. And Era and Sil flew away to find a place to implement Era's strategy for adjusting to their newfound powers.

The Commander, meanwhile, made his way to the Mobile Base to move it to the plateau. Inside, he checked the console and inputed the code to change the coordinates, and as he punched the engine it fired up and the base flew up and over to its new destination. Once settled, the Commander left the Mobile Base to follow Itta to their training grounds to the East.

Zooming is a moderate speed a single Sayian ship was going through space. Kezmen Hazz'aso waited in this ship looking out the glass he saw stars rushing past him. Kezmen grew drowsy as he been flying for a while without rest. "There's got to be a Sayian conquered somewhere around" He thought was he typed on a small hand sized keyboard. Right after he typed in his code a small hologram screen appeared infront of him "Guess I can do a raid, I think there's a few in this area" He kept thinking to himself as the silence surrounded him. After having no results Kezmen closed the small window in his face. He then sighed as his eye lids became heavy. Drifting off to sleep the Sayian kept moving through space. As he rushed through space Kezmen meditated training his mind and his Ki flow so he can be ready for a fight, if he have to.

"Yes, sir." Karas said, saluting and then walking back to his ship. He always carried parts of every kind, the better to fabricate things in the field. Subspace transmitters, mobile computers for programming purposes, as well motors, structural parts, et cetera. He was under orders to bolster defenses and communication, but for now he could use his ship as a communicator itself. He got into the modest cargo bay and took out a basic mobile computer from its container in the wall, plugging it into the data port for the ship. The data port was normally used for routine OS updates, such as resolving autopilot glitches, updating star charts to compensate for major spacial events such as galaxy collisions and runaway black holes, and of course improving security algorithms. He sat down on a swivel chair bought from a human trade planet (it had a magnetic locking mode to prevent it from moving around during spaceflight, which was obviously disengaged), placing the computer on a shelf jutting out of the wall. In the hands of an expert like Karas, the data port was the key to ship modding, and more importantly electronic warfare. In 3 hours, he had programmed a virus to get past the primitive Saiyan security algorithms on his species' ships.

He needed Saiyans who were in transit between planets, going to Planet Raids and the like. He needed powerful fighters who wouldn't have obligations to defend Metahnn if he contacted them. The virus wouldn't do anything malicious. Rather, it would add a secondary encryption algorithm of his design, with no backdoors and with a ridiculously high number of bits of entropy (somewhere on the order of 2048-bit encryption), to each ship it encountered. Karas and the rest of the Saiyan survivors would then be able to communicate freely on this encrypted channel, enabling him to bolster the group's numbers. He went to the pilot's seat, extended the subspace transmitter, and back on the computer released his virus throughout the cosmos. It would exclusively latch on to Saiyan ships, ignoring anything not of Saiyan make unless he specifically sent it to people he wanted to contact.

@Denezen

The virus wouldn't be visible to anyone until he articulated his message. The virus' code raced along the subspace frequencies, and it would infect over a thousand Saiyan ships over the course of the day. But soon, he would have Commander Korvaiis get sympathizers to go along with his plan. Even the king feared the Commander's charisma and intelligence, knowing that Korvaiis had a large following. Korvaiis and Urod could get anyone to reinforce their little resistance.

@WhyNot

Kezmen's ship was infected with the benign virus, waiting for its creator to begin broadcasting.

Next, he knew that they needed a workforce to keep the bloodthirsty reinforcements alive on a large scale, construct fortifications, et cetera. With his arm, he could translate thoughts to programming, making it much easier to do his task. He had the parts around to make a few basic robots. They wouldn't be strong or tough like Tragedy and Comedy, but they would mine, gather firewood, hunt for food, and grow crops.

In about another 9 hours, he had built a team of five relatively fragile worker drones roughly based off of foreign blueprints he took off the subspace and made of spare parts. They were just guts right now, with no outer casing. He would have to fabricate a good casing later. However, they were fully coded (it was easy to repurpose the basic navigation code from Tragedy and Comedy and add some additional tasks), and as long as it didn't rain they would work perfectly. Like with his two pet projects, he could send them orders with his arm.

By this point, it was night, and Korvaiis and Itta had certainly finished training. Karas, for his part, was starving. He cycled through his business partners on his Scouter, debating who to contact before going outside to eat.

He decided to contact an old friend from the Zy'leth Confederacy. The Zy'leth Confederacy was a loose group of Zy'leth factions that worked together to protect their interests. The Zy'leth were known for their aptitude in commerce, and a Zy'leth trader could usually get you anything, for a price. And with his latest Raid job pay burning a hole in his pocket, he could probably pay that price.

"Hello?" the Zy'leth asked, his gurgly accent audible through the Scouter's speaker.

"Hey, this is Karas."

"Oh, Karas. What's been happening, friend?"

"A lot. Got kicked out of the PDC, wound up getting approached by a Raid Group, and now we've found out that Inecros is coming to Metahnn!"

There was silence for a short bit as Karas let the news sink in.

"I...I see. That's horrible! But what are you contacting me for? I'm a businessman, not a fighter!"

"Well, Metahnn is doomed, but a few Saiyans and I have a backup plan. I'll tell you through our little secret."

"Understood. Standing by for your transmission," The Zy'leth joked.

Karas ended the call and wrote up a text message on the computer from earlier, sending it to the businessman through a private channel using the viral encryption algorithm. Karas wanted the Zy'leth, Xol Gan, to act as his base's supplier, giving them extra parts, building materials, and basic necessities and tools that they couldn't otherwise get without compromising their secrecy, along with anything else they asked for. Xol accepted on the condition that the Saiyans owe him a favor for helping fight Inecros. Knowing the intergalactic opinion of Saiyans, the favor was likely going to involve killing something.

With that, Karas wrote back, thanking Xol for his help, and flew over to the Mobile Base, waiting on Korvaiis and the others to come back.

Era and Sil flew out for a long time away from the main base of operations which the Commander had since established. Sil, flying behind Era, began to wonder just where she was being led. Did Era really have an idea to expedite their progress in acclimating themselves to their new powers? Or did she just want to speak to Sil away from prying eyes and ears? She noticed that Era had turned her Scouter off shortly after departure, so the latter option was likely. But what was there to talk about? The Commander gave an order. It was their job to obey, correct?

The two flew in silence for over an hour before Era finally stopped and floated down to the surface, turning to wait for Sil to follow. She was cautious, but followed. When she touched down, Era gave her that smile and Sil knew that something was either making her happy, or it was making her excited. Either way, it never ended well for Sil.

"So, Era... Do you really have a way to acclimate ourselves to our new powers?" She asked.

Era gave a playful shrug of her shoulders.

"Then why are we way out here?" She asked.

Era's smile widens slightly.

"To test the limits of our bodies of course! I can't pass up the chance to see what my body can do. 1,700 is comfortable, and as we shared the sensation of the limitless potential residing within ourselves I felt my power increase. I'd estimate around 2,400 or so, and it was a little strenuous to hold it there but I felt I could go farther if I had to. I want to see just how far I can push it before it becomes unbearable and too dangerous to maintain any longer."

Sil arched an eyebrow.

"That doesn't sound wise, Era. It's not like you... Are you sure this power isn't going to your head a little?" She asked.

Era laughed.

"Oh come now, Sil. What's wrong with a little curiosity. I'll admit that I'm a bit excited to have this new power, but all I want is to test my limits. We'll focus on acclimation afterwards." She said happily.

Sil wasn't convinced, but released a sigh of resignation and relented to Era's request.

Era nodded, and released a breath. She began to slow her heartbeat, and powered up very slowly afterwards. Her power began climbing at a steady pace. From her original 300, she powered up to 500, 800, 1,200, 1,500, 1,700... 1,800, 1,900, 2,000, 2,100... Era began to feel a slight twinge of pain shoot through the back of her neck down her spine. It was more like a pinch, actually, now that she thought about it. But that was the first sign that she was approaching her limits. 2,200, 2,300, 2,400... A sharper, more pronounced zing shot through her arm from the base of her neck to her fingers, and then another from her hip to her left knee.

"Era?..."

She could go father. 2,450, 2,500, 2,550... A serious jab of pain struck her head like a piece of metal, almost knocking her off balance.

"Era!!" Sil shouted.

Era's eyes shot open and her power level began to drop off at a rapid pace all the way down to her original 300. She dropped to one knee and panted heavily, her head aching, ears ringing, and her exterior limbs growing subtly numb and sore. Sil kelt down next to her, helping to hold her steady.

"I said it once already Era, but I'll say it again... This is not like you. You've never in your life wanted to push your limits in such a rash manner. What's happening to you?"

Era closed her eyes and kept breathing slowly as the pain began to subside, and stood up.

"I told you Sil, I was just curious. We've never had power like this before. Or, rather... Never had such potential before." She said softly.

She turned on her Scouter and directed its focus on herself. The scanner showed the same thing it usually did.

Maximum Potential: 7,713... Current Power Level: 300

She sighed, turning off the reading but leaving the Scouter on in case anyone tried to communicate with them. Turning to Sil, she gave a soft smile.

"Sorry Sil. I don't mean to act rashly. If my excitement got the better of me, it's my fault so I guess this experiment wasn't a total waste. I know where my limits are now, and I can focus on acclimating to them now." She said.

Sil nodded.

"I'd have preferred that first, you know."

Era chuckled.

"I suppose it would have been more prudent to try that first. But what's done is done. We can get to work now. Let's get started." She said, walking away a few steps and taking a seated position.

Sil sat down across from her.

"During the course of our lives, we acclimated to our powers whenever they increased in about a day or so. But that's because we never had such a massive increase before. With such a massive increase, it's probably for the best that my power stops around 2,500. Given that my body has never experienced this before, and it's only been around three or four days since our awakening, anything more would likely have done serious damage."

"So what do you think we can do about this?"

Era closed her eyes.

"It's only a theory, but I think it has a chance of working. Our bodies evolved to cope with new experiences. If this kind of increase in power happens again, it will likely take less time to acclimate then it has for this increase. If that's the case, I think there's a way to help our bodies adjust to the increase. It probably won't help very much, but any help would be better than none. So what I propose is for us to do something similar to what we did with the others to help awaken their potential. We shall link hands, and close our eyes. If we power up together, slowly. When we reach a point where one of us cannot go further because of those twinges of pain I experienced, we stop and let our bodies hold that level for one hour. That should be time to acclimate just a bit and maybe push a tiny bit further." She said.

"It sounds rational, but still risky. This means we have to stop the instant even a slight twinge occurs."

Era nodded.

"Agreed."

Sil reached out and held hands with Era as they both closed their eyes and synchronized both their breathing and their power levels. Keeping them dead even by feel, they slowly powered up together. The first moment of discomfort and a pinch of pain came on Era's part when her power hit 2,100, just as it had last time. They stopped immediately, and allowed their power to simmer and hold steady at that level. As time ticked on, one or two more small pinches of pain occurred, but after a short time they stopped completely and Era suggested they move on.

They pushed their power a tiny bit farther. The next zing occurred in Sil as their powers reached around 2,250. Again, they stopped and simmered until the twinges of pain vanished before pushing further. Era was next, at only 2,300. Again, they stopped and simmered. They rinsed and repeated this process for over eight hours before they reached the end of their endurance and had to stop. Both of them were sweating profusely and their breathing was labored.

When they checked their Scouters, they were disappointed in their progress. They stopped at only 2,700, just 150 points after era's previous pain limit. It was a slight increase, but not what Era had been hoping for. She'd hoped to at east acclimate to 3,000. But no such luck this time.

Together they stood up and calmed themselves by controlling their breathing and their heartbeats. As they regained their breath and their energy, they began flying back to base. They were done for today, and would get nothing more from pushing themselves. Progress was progress, and a good night's sleep would help increase their acclimation a bit further as well. But at least Era's method had proven effective. It was time to share the information with the others.

As soon as the ritual ended and the circle broke apart, their commander started giving them their orders. The mechanic was tasked for setting up the infrastructure of what was soon to be their rebel group, the other officers were tasked with watch and making sure they were all fed at the end of the day. The two near sisters were to start exploring the depths of the power they discovered, while Itta... well he was going to do the same in a more hands-on approach. He was going to get to fight the commander.

Instructed to head towards the valley in the east, Itta took flight towards his next arena as soon as the orders were given. The planet was huge, the gravity pushing the sayian down as he flew. He just got used to their home planets weight, and now they were stuck on a new location four times the size. Even so, Itta was still able to fly rather unhindered towards the location his commander had given.

Landing in the middle of the valley, Itta began his stretches. Mountains loomed to the north and south while a forest stretched almost endlessly if he continued east. Remembering just who his opponent is going to be, Itta began to think of some kind of strategy to help tackle the elite. The last match against someone even near his commander’s power ended with a single strike. Sure, Korvaiis was probably going to fighting on a smaller level to aid in the training, but Itta was going to go at him with everything that he has. Finishing up his stretches as he watched the mobile base start landing in the distance, Itta came up with a plan.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Korvaiis stepped out of the base, satisfied with the new location for his raid group’s home. After a quick scan with his scouter to confirm things are where they should be, he took off for his spar with Itta. But, as the valley came into, his partner wasn’t in the valley as he last saw. As he went to check his scouter again, his trained ears picked up was his scouter did a few seconds later. The sound of a rushing foe.

Itta rushed his commander from below, his fist blazing with his star. Believing he hadn’t yet been noticed, Itta dropped his right arm in preparation for an uppercut only to be caught near the last second as Korvaiis looked straight down at his attack. Too late to stop the attack now, Itta yelled loudly as he threw his punch only to be caught by the commander’s open palm. The defending hand squeezed down on Itta’s fist, destroying the star energy and continuing to crush his hand, though in a safe and controlled manner, thereafter. In retaliation, Itta brought his other fist towards his leader, only to be blocked in the same way.

The Commander smiled.

"Not a bad strategy, rushing a more powerful foe from a position that's hard to se. However, as you may have guessed, Itta, I am no fool." He said calmly.

The two men furthest on the chain of command floated opposite each other in a small stalemate. Korvaiis was on top, continuing his tight grip on his underlings fists as Itta struggled to get away. Though the attack failed, Korvaiis was impressed. To show his approval, the commander decided to break the grapple. But the match had only just begun.

Korvaiis reset the distance between them, and put one hand on his hip.

"Fighting you at my full power is a waste of both of our time, so I'm going to make things more interesting for both of us."

Korvaiis powered down, his Scouter reading his strength falling at a rapid rate down to 1,500.

"That should be about right." He said calmly.

With that, Koraviis flew forward delivering a double kick to Itta's stomach region which sent him flying to the ground.

Falling through the air, Itta tried to make sense of the exchange. After his star was so easily stopped, he was barely able to recognize what his commander was doing as his hands were being crushed. He was able to tense his stomach before the blow, but the the kick still took the wind out of them. Thankfully for their altitude, Itta managed to get a hold of his descent, slowing down considerably before still smashing into the dirt. On his hands and knees, Itta was in a coughing fit. A still shaking hand found its way to his stomach, but the only visible injury was a crack in the armor. Staggering to get back on his feet and glad he didn’t see any blood in his spit, Itta saw the Commander descend to stand before him on even ground.

Summoning his star energy again, Itta’s fist shone red as he prepared to start again.

Now on the ground, Korvaiis was satisfied how things had begun. No further words needed to be exchanged at this time, but there seemed to be an understanding between the two now. This had evolved from a simple training exercise to a fight. A real fight designed to push his subordinate to his limits against an impossible foe. With the thought of Inecros so fresh in his mind, this would be the only way to train as it was soon to become his reality. As Itta glowed red before him, Korvaiis raised his right hand and gathered some energy himself. He fired off a couple of standard ki blasts, dropping his strength further to around 500 to test Itta's condition after his last attack. As he expected, Itta was able to block the blasts by knocking them away with his energized red fist. With Itta's durability and defenses confirmed, the Commander rushed once more.

Itta struck at the blast as they came flying towards him. Each blast he hit felt like hitting a rock, even while energized by his star, but he was still able to send them off. Even as the blast flew off to explode in the distance, he kept his eyes trained forward on the sender. Though deflecting the ki was priority, he had to be prepared for when the next move was made. After the last shot was fired and Korvaiis began his chage, Itta was prepared. Instead of deflecting the last shot away like to rest, or back to the Commander who effortlessly deflected it, having raised his power back up to 1,500, and so Itta struck the ground between the two combatants. The ki exploded the same as the others and filled the air with dust.

Unflinchingly, Korvaiis stormed into the dust to face his opponent. Both were blinded by the debris, and this wasn’t the first time he had to fight blind. As the two approached, the commander realized an even bigger advantage. Itta’s own weapon turned against him as the light from his attack was a dead give away to his location. The two finally met in the cloud and begun an exchange of blows. Itta seemed to be taking full advantage of his environment, throwing punches wildly at the commander. With the dust and red Ki, Korvaiis’ vision was simply red as he blocked and dodged all the punches coming at him. It seemed to last ages, but eventually, the speed of the punches slowed. A little too much in his experienced opinion. Seeing through the ploy at the last second, he grabbed the starless fist of the Low Class Saiyan and pulled him into a punch to the stomach.

His hopes of catching the Commander off guard were dashed as soon as he felt the tight grip around his wrist. He had hoped Korvaiis would be too focused on the obvious star attacks to notice the hidden fist. The Commander twisted the arm and pulled Itta towards him to land a blow with his free hands in the opening of the armor he made earlier. The struck Sayian gasped as air and blood escape his mouth.

"Not bad," the Commander said.

Pulling back his fist, his recruit’s starless hands went to cradle his stomach. Watching him stagger back, Korvaiis wondered if he would be able to continue as he let him get his space.

After the punch to his stomach, Itta wasn’t able to see straight. The sayian was barely standing as he backed away from his opponent. Compared to the last blow from an Elite, his commanders punch was magnitudes stronger than the knock out chop. He could feel the blood trickle from his mouth as he tried to pull himself together. His mind was blank except for the words his opponent spoke. Not bad? He hadn’t even landed a blow in the fight yet.

The Commander cracked his neck as he walked forward and picked Itta up by the back of his armor to a standing position.

"Come, Itta. That can't be all you've got!" He demanded, throwing another punch to his chest and sending him flying backwards into a pile of rocks.

Itta coughed, a few more trickles of blood escaping his mouth as he half heartedly wiped it with the back of his forearm. Staggering to his feet, he tried to get his breathing under control. Slowly, breath by breath, he recovered from the shock of his Commander's attack. Now back up to snuff, he shook it off and began to focus his star energy into both hands. The Commander's smile was, in some ways, insulting. He gave him props, "not bad," but just as easily seemed to be silently mocking Itta's lack of landing a blow. Itta rocketed forward and threw a flurry of punches at the Commander, all of which were either dodged or passively parried before the Commander landed a spinning kick to Itta's midsection on his side, sending him flying away. However, Itta had managed to see this blow coming, and braced himself for it. It felt like getting struck by a large metal bar, but this one was less impactful than the initial punch Itta'd received earlier.

Shaking it off and correcting his flight path before hitting the ground, Itta flew up into the air and began charring another attack.

Korvaiis, meanwhile, prepared himself for Itta's incoming assault and began to power up just slightly to 1,800. Itta came charging down, and as he lashed out at the Commander he managed to slip by the incoming parry attempt and landed his first blow to the Commander's cheek on the left side of his face. Korvaiis was a bit stunned, but smiled nonetheless as he pushed his head against Itta's fist.

"That's more like it," he said.

The Commander then rapidly landed a short series of three kicks to Itta's stomach, chest, and then the side of his head, sending his sprawling to the ground. This one really shook him pretty good, especially the blow to the head. His vision was blurred, and as he shook his head to try and set his vision straight he felt the Commander's hand on his shoulder.

"If you want to clear your vision, shaking your head will only make it worse. When you are stunned like this, you must concentrate on centering your vision on a single object which can be discerned in the haze. Make your vision return to normal, don't wait for it to do so." He said, standing up and backing away.

Itta tried it. It was a bit difficult, but he was able to focus on a single rock just ahead of him despite there being three of them at first. As he focused on the rock, it became two, then one, and then the rest of the world fell into place. Giving one shake of his head for good measure, Itta stood up and brushed himself off. The Commander nodded, taking a stance and gesturing for Itta to come at him again.

Itta obliged, flying forward as fast as he could with his star energy prepped in one hand and the other prepared to block or parry if he was fast enough to do so. As his energized punch came forward with his right hand, the Commander parried it and pushed it across Itta's chest towards his left side. Using his free hand, the Commander grabbed Itta by the throat, stopping him dead in his tracks and making his breathing very uncomfortable.

"If you're going to throw a punch, and you know it's being deflected, turn with the block to renew your assault with continued momentum on the other side or prepare a new block for an incoming counter from your opponent. Never just let a block like this happen. The moment I cross your arm in front of you like this, you are at my mercy." He said.

The Commander let go of Itta's throat and shoved him away, resetting the playing field.

"You've got to think more carefully, Itta. Do not just rush in for an assault. Plan it. It's like a game. A constant game of who can think the furthest ahead in an exchange. As you gain more experience in battle, you'll start to see these exchanges unfold in your mind like a simulation. You can then learn to better predict what your opponent might do based on the actions you plan to take, so even if they are more powerful you can take advantage of something they do and gain an upper hand."

He took another stance.

"As Nei and I are fond of saying, 'Raw power isn't everything.'" He said, gesturing for Itta to come at him again.

However, this time, the Commander knew that it was time to end this training session. But it wasn't just going to come to an end. Itta needed to get stronger, and despite the hurt the Commander has laid on him thus far, Itta was relatively unharmed and would receive little to no benefit from these "injuries." It was time to bring some real pain to help the young Saiyan grow in strength.

As Itta charged forward, the Commander powered almost instantly to 3,000. Itta's blow landed directly on the Commander's nose, but it didn't cause so much as a flinch or even a blink. The Commander laid into Itta, landing blow after powerful blow. He was careful not to shatter any bones, but he did cause a few fractures and minor damage to several muscle groups. When it was all over, Itta was unconscious and face down in the dirt. The Commander grabbed him around the waist and flew him back to base. Setting the unconscious Saiyan down on one of the beds, he had his Scouter examine Itta's body for the extent of the injuries.

In total: 7 hairline fractures, 6 fully broken ribs, 1 shattered vertebrae in his back, and 4 major muscle groups damaged.

A bit more than he had been trying to deliver, but Itta's body would recover quickly so long as he remained in bed for around three days.

When Korvaiis, Era, Sil, and the unconscious Itta arrived at the Mobile Base, they could see Tragedy and Comedy standing guard at the entrance, with Karas' ship nearby. The two robots seemed to analyze the three before Comedy said in a synthesized voice, "Face recognized. Access granted." The two robots then stood aside, letting them in. When they entered the Mobile Base, they could see Karas reclining on a chair, watching something through his Scouter, with five other robots around him. Each robot did not seem to be armed, and actually had no casing, revealing its circuitry and metal frames.

"Hey guys. So while you were gone, I contacted a friend of mine in the Zy'leth Confederacy--a trader. He says he'll supply us for free as long as he gets a favor. Knowing what the Zy'leth think of Saiyans, it'll probably involve killing something. He said he'll forward me the job soon enough."

"There are three other things I did. The first is set up Tragedy and Comedy as doormen-slash-sentries. The second are these five robots. The fact is, we're going to want a workforce to mine, farm, and build fortifications, so I made some laborers for us. They're based off of generic worker drone blueprints and made out of spare parts. They have no casing yet, as you can see, but they are fully programmed, largely with the code from Tragedy and Comedy. Once the supplies start coming in, I'll get to work on a casing and start making more of them."

He sat up, clearly excited. "And the third thing requires you, Commander. You see, not every Saiyan will end up killed by Inecros, and we'll need all the reinforcements we can get to fight him. The problem is sending out a signal without letting Inecros trace it. So I decided to repurpose an encryption algorithm I use to discuss private matters with contacts. I upped the security and released it as a benign ship virus that attaches the encryption algorithm to ships of Saiyan make. I can see the names of everyone whose ship is infected, so we can choose to, say, not contact the King of Metahnn so we can avoid punishment for desertion. And you, Commander Korvaiis, have a substantial following, so if you initiate communication on the viral channel, we should be getting Saiyan reinforcements within a month. What do you think?"

EDIT:

Then he saw the commander setting Itta down. "Wow, that's...that's some serious damage. I hope his power starts rising at least. How long should Itta be out?"

The Commander listened to Karas' explanation of what was going on and what he planned to do, and nodded as he dragged Itta inside. He looked to Karas as he asked his question.

"Despite what it looks like, he should recover in approximately three to four days. When he does, we will see just how much stronger he gets. By the "wisdom" of our ancestors, his power should not rise at all. But if Era was correct and if she succeeded in sharing with us that new potential, then we may yet see Itta shatter his previous limitations." He said calmly.

He stood up and watched as Era and Sil landed, somewhat shakily, in front of the base and walked out to greet them.

"Ladies. Progress?"

Era heaved a breath, and gave a slight nod.

"It wasn't much, sir. We were only able to acclimate ourselves to a few hundred extra points of our new power." She said.

He nodded.

"That's more than you had when we arrived. Good work. Just get inside and rest. I can tell that your bodies are in need of rest, so try to get some sleep. Night is falling anyway." He said, looking to the darkening skies above.

"Well, I hope it does increase," Karas said. Then his scouter beeped. "Ah, here comes the favor now." He pressed the button on the side of the Scouter and his eye scanned the text in front of him.

"Oh. This...this is awful. The Au-Rath crime family is holding my contact's offspring hostage in order to coerce him to smuggle weapons for them. He knows the Au-Rath will retaliate violently if we only rescue the hostage, so he wants us to kill every member of their organization. Fortunately, the Au-Rath are holed up in this sector. Given the coordinates he's found, they should be about two days away at top speed. Three with my specific ship due to the extra mass. After we do this job, he'll begin supplying us for free. We're going to need this to get our base up and running. Do you accept?"

The Commander thought about the job Karas needed done, and closed his eyes to think.

"... I'll send Nei and Kendra along with Sub-Commander Urod to do this job. The rest of us will remain here."

He turned to Urod, who had since returned who nodded with a salute.

"We shall not fail, Commander."

Korvaiis nodded.

"All right. Karas, forward all information Urod needs to finish this mission to his personal vessel's database. Your ship will remain here with us to save the extra day. The three of them will be more than capable of finishing this on their own." He ordered.

He then got on the Scouter, contacting Kendra to come back with the food she'd collected thus far. When she returned, she was disappointed with her haul, calling it "small," but having over eight massive beasts tied together on a long cable stretching over sixty Leid (feet) from one end to the other. Korvaiis arched an eyebrow at the "small" comment, but then again their Saiyan appetites were quite famous. Korvaiis had more or less a handle on his, but the others? He didn't yet know that.

Kendra, Nei, and Sub-Commander Urod prepared to depart, and did so later that night. With a few helpful tips from the Commander about how to handle the situation, they were off into the vastness of space armed with Karas' information.

Korvaiis, meanwhile, sat Era, Sil, and Karas down by the fire as the food was just starting to cook.

"Everyone, here's what we're going to do. While Itta is resting, Era and Sil will continue acclimating themselves to their new power. Karas, you will continue doing what you're doing with the drones and improvements to the base and ships in whatever manner you see fit. However, I ask that you allow me to borrow your two robots Tragedy and Comedy. I myself would like to train and test my power now that my genetic limit is supposedly lifted, and I think they'd make excellent sparring partners for me. Is that acceptable? I promise not to damage them beyond your ability to fix them, but if they aren't already I'd like to ask that you input a safety command. If training goes sour for me and they take too much of an advantage and I find myself not able to fight back, I want to be able to stop them without fail. Can you do that by tomorrow?" He asked.

Sil waited to give Karas a chance to respond before asking the commander a question.

"Sir, question. Do you want Era and I to train as well, or do you want us to focus solely on our acclimation to our power?" She asked.

"Concentrate on acclimation for now. Your new power is of no use to you if you can only access a fraction of it. If you build it up further, then you'll be even further behind on what you are truly capable of."

She nodded, satisfied with his response.

@Kyero @Denezen

Karas quickly navigated through his Scouter's UI and forwarded the document to the Scouters of Urod, Nei, and Kendra. He was a little upset that he couldn't take part in the fighting himself, though. He knew he would have to start getting used to his power eventually, and he couldn't stay at 2,600 forever. He didn't want to be left behind by his fellow Saiyans, not with the ability to surpass his genetic limit already in his grasp. He didn't say anything, however. He knew he was necessary to get the resistance on its feet. Once the base could run without him babysitting it 24/7, then he could start training in earnest.

Then Korvaiis mentioned his two doormen. He swallowed a large mouthful of food and replied, "Sure, I can set them up for training. In fact, why stop at a safety command? I can set them up to have different combat settings. Right now, they're programmed to kill opponents with extreme efficiency, which isn't ideal for training. Also, there's the fusion into Black Comedy to consider, and the fact that even unfused they have a higher power level than you when fighting together. That's a lot of work, but I think I can do it."

Karas bit into a haunch of meat again, and after swallowing, inquired, "On another note, when do you want to begin broadcasting? The longer we wait, the less time we have before Inecros attacks and all Saiyans get recalled to defend the Empire. Ideally, we should wait until the supplies start coming in, but given that it takes a month to get here from Metahnn I recommend we broadcast as soon as possible."

"To grow up alone is a fate unbecoming of a Saiyan, but it has made me stronger than I dared hope. I can only continue to hope, and with luck I'll always have Era by my side to push me to even greater heights."

Korvaiis took in the information, and smirked when Karas mentioned their power levels being higher than his.

"Broadcast as soon as possible. I want as many Saiyans clear of Inecros' wrath as possible. The sooner we get them to a safe place and gathered together, the better off we'll all be by the time the inevitable conflict against him comes around."

He stood up, cracking his neck.

"Don't worry about the robots, by the way. Their power may be higher than mine, but I'm not an Elite Saiyan Commander for nothing. I'll be fine against them. Just program them however you can by tomorrow morning when I wake up. I want to train at first light."

He finished eating and walked inside the base, content to go to bed for the night as Era, Sil, and Karas remained outside.

Sil broke the silence first.

"So, Era. What do you propose we do tomorrow? More of the same as today?" She asked.

Era nodded, slurping down a hunk of flesh.

"The more we get used to it, the better off we'll be. It might not be as physical as we'd hoped, but it is our best option. I'd rather we get used to it this way than any other way now that I think about it." She said.

With that, Era had a sudden thought.

"... Sil, tell me something..." She said, slowly turning towards her crimson haired friend.

"Yes?"

"When we were meditating together and synching our powers, could you feel me, in any way?" She asked.

Sil thought about it, and shook her head.

"No. I could feel our connected power, but nothing more. Why?"

"It's just... Never mind." She said at last.

Sil tilted her head.

"What is it Era?"

Era shook her head.

"Nothing. Forget I said anything."

Sil wasn't convinced, but she let the subject drop all the same and continued eating.

Karas listened to the commander's orders. "Every Saiyan, sir? Contacting certain ones, like the King or any of the top brass, may result in a punitive expedition to this planet. I suppose we have no choice if we're to fend off eventual extinction by inbreeding, but it seems problematic. Anyway, I'll set up the robots tonight. Good night, Commander."

As he continued eating, he noticed the exchange between Era and Sil. He did want to get to know them, but not right now. The more time he wasted, the less time he would have to sleep tonight. This was going to be another night fueled by pick-me-ups and willpower. He called these "Wrench Nights."

He finished eating, stood up, and told the two, "Well, I'm going to get to work again. Good night." With that, he walked back to his ship for a long night of coding. Eventually, he finished. He sent the list of commands to Korvaiis, along with instructions on how to start the training program. Literally Korvaiis just had to walk up to one of the two robots and they would both respond to his commands. With that, he collapsed into bed.

The commands were:

--> STOP (immediately stop the training program, treat Korvaiis like an ally)

--> FIGHT (begin training in this location, treat Korvaiis like an enemy)

--> WAIT (do nothing until a new command is issued)

--> FOLLOW ME (exactly what it says on the tin)

--> LOW FORCE (go easy, lowest difficulty setting)

--> MEDIUM FORCE (initial force level, normal difficulty setting)

--> FULL FORCE (don't hold back, highest difficulty setting)

--> PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT (try to minimize collateral damage)

--> RECKLESS (stop caring about collateral damage)

--> I WANT TO FIGHT COMEDY (exactly what it says on the tin)

--> I WANT TO FIGHT TRAGEDY (exactly what it says on the tin)

--> MAXIMUM POWER (fuse into Black Comedy and continue training program)

--> TEAM UP ON ME (unfuse and have both Comedy and Tragedy fight Korvaiis together)

--> SEPARATE (unfuse and stop the training program)

--> GO BACK TO GUARD DUTY (return to their posts)

--> AGGRESSIVE (doing damage takes priority)

--> DEFENSIVE (causes them to keep their guard up and try to outlast Korvaiis)

--> EVASIVE (attempt to dodge attacks rather than block them)

--> BALANCED (default tactics setting, equal combination of AGGRESSIVE, DEFENSIVE, and EVASIVE)

--> AGGRESSIVE-EVASIVE (also known as "Ninja Mode," dodge attacks while attempting to fight offensively)

--> DEFENSIVE-EVASIVE (give equal priority to dodging and blocking, attempt to outlast the opponent. Best described as "Wall Mode.")

--> AGGRESSIVE-DEFENSIVE (give equal priority to defense and attack, with minimal dodging. Best described as "Tank Mode.")

(OOC: @Kyero, I give you control over Tragedy and Comedy for this training session. Have fun fighting my deathbots!)

When Karas got up in the morning, he immediately got into his ship's pilot seat and switched to the viral frequency, bringing up a grand list of all of the infected Saiyan ships and computers via a heads-up display.

He chose to contact all of them via a pre-recorded audio message. Around a thousand were infected so far, it was a start.

"This is a message to all Saiyans. If you are hearing this, know that as of right now this communication cannot be traced. I won't mince words. Inecros is coming to Metahnn, and there is nothing any Saiyan can do to stop him. Metahnn is doomed. However, we have a backup plan. Come to Planet M34, Sector E-3, if you desire the secret to potentially limitless power, to survive Inecros' wrath, and most importantly a chance to take the head of our great enemy."

Kezmen would be able to hear this message in his ship.

(@Kyero, going ahead with the broadcast, I want @WhyNot to get his chance to join, I'll edit it based on Korvaiis' response to my previous pos)

"To grow up alone is a fate unbecoming of a Saiyan, but it has made me stronger than I dared hope. I can only continue to hope, and with luck I'll always have Era by my side to push me to even greater heights."

The next morning, the Commander awoke before dawn. He went about his usual routine of cleansing his body, donning his clothing and armor, and going outside.

Greeting the early morning air before the sun rose, he took in a deep breath and let it out on a hiss through his teeth. He checked his Scouter, reading through the commands list and committing them to memory before floating slowly into the sky and preparing to warm up.

He allowed his power to surge, running straight to its maximum of 24,000 before flying off. He started slowly so as not to wake any of the others unnecessarily, and when he was far enough away he let his white aura flare and rocketed off at full speed around the planet. He made sure his trajectory avoided the camp so as not to send any concussive waves of air at the base, and flew around the world 10 times at maximum speed before returning to the base and landing before Tragedy and Comedy.

"Follow me." He said, simply.

A moment of compliance from the robots, and they were off.

Korvaiis led them away from base off to the far north where he had seen and made a mental note of a vast mountain range complete with a series of plateaus which could serve as good cover for their more stealthy methods of combat. Once they reached their destination, they landed and Korvaiis turned to face the two robots.

"Low Force. Fight." He ordered.

Tragedy and Comedy recognized the orders, activating Low Force mode and immediately engaging Korvaiis.

As expected, they fought easily and with great reservation. Korvaiis used this opportunity to get used to how they moved. Analyzing every facet of the techniques they were using against him, he made mental notes of how their joints worked, the angles they favored when using attacks, and how quick they are to respond to changes in his direction and altitude.

Impressive Karas. You have outdone yourself with these two... He thought.

Korvaiis continued to get used to the two robots before testing their mettle a bit further.

"Medium Force." He ordered.

The two robots complied, changing their strategy and their force of attack to adhere to the change in intensity.

It was almost night and day. The two of them moved faster, struck more quickly and with less wasted motion, moved interchangeably with one another like a real team, and applied a much greater amount of force with each strike. Korvaiis initially had trouble adjusting to them, taking a few good hits and even one which put a small crack in the lining of the stomach area of his armor from Tragedy. A good shot to be sure, and one which middle rattled the Commander as he continued to fight with them.

Time ticked on. Ten minutes of combat against them at Medium Force was proving about as much as he could handle. He wanted to try Full Force, but that was a fool's errand. He may have the wind knocked out of him and get himself killed if he tried that now. If he couldn't get the wind to speak the command to stop, they'd keep fighting until he was no longer an obstacle. Karas did indeed outdo himself with these two, and the Commander had to accept the inevitable that even at only Medium Force they were proving, as a team, to be too much for him to push any further.

But oh how he wanted to try Full Force.

Someday, but not this day... He thought.

"Stop!" He yelled.

The two robots instantly responded, ceasing their attacks and returning to a neutral posture and floating there waiting for further orders.

Korvaiis wiped his mouth, finding a small trace of blood out of the left side and smiled to himself.

Well done indeed Karas... Well done, he thought.

"Go back to guard duty." He ordered.

The two robots turned away from him and flew back to base leaving the Commander floating there in silence.

It was a good warmup to start his day, and admittedly he had been pushed himself a bit further than he thought he would. He'd always had confidence in his skills and his talent as a fighter, but Tragedy and Comedy were proving beyond the shadow of a doubt to be every bit his match and, had they gone full force, his superiors.

One day he'd be able to fight them evenly at Full Force, but not today. He would need to build his power up for that. Today he pushed just far enough to get a good workout, but he would wait to challenge himself physically and push his power until he knew that Urod had completed his mission. But they wouldn't know for another two to three days depending on how Urod handled the mission. But Korvaiis had every confidence in his old friend, and knew he'd return with good news.

The Commander made his way back to base, landing outside and waiting for the others to awaken.

Era awoke not long after she heard Tragedy and Comedy return to base. The sound of their landing was soft, but just loud enough to rouse her from her slumber. The violet haired beauty rose from her bed, knocking her head against Sil's bunk. She forgot what cramped quarters the base had at the moment. She rubbed her forehead and stumbled out of bed... She was not a morning riser. Her hair was messy, her clothing half heartedly worn and half falling off, and her eyes a bit droopy from still being half asleep.

She made her way to the bathroom, washing her face and taking a shower before returning to her "room" and getting dressed. Sil awoke just in time to see Era half naked and getting dressed, causing her to chuckle at Era's lack of modesty.

"Don't you have any shame Era? Getting dressed in front of me like that?"

Era cast her a sleepy glance.

"Not really. You don't like it?" She joked.

Sil laughed.

"I won't dignify that question with an answer." She said as she too stumbled out of bed and went to take a shower.

Era finished dressing herself and put on her armor. As she walked outside the sun was just beginning to peek over the horizon. As her eyes adjusted to the light, she saw the Commander standing there with his arms crossed in front of his chest and a satisfied smile on his face... She had to admit, he was wonderfully handsome. The lighting especially made him seem extra handsome this morning. Still, she had work to do so it was time to get started.

"Good morning Commander." She said with a salute.

"Good morning Era. Ready to get to work?"

She nodded.

"Good. Then wait for Sil and find a quiet place to get started. If you can reach an acclimation of 3,000 or greater, consider your day's work fulfilled." He said.

She nodded, floating into the air and turning to face the base waiting for Sil. A few minutes later, her old friend emerged and joined her in the sky. The two of them flew away, finding a nice quiet location in a forest clearing near a gently flowing river and sat down.

"Ready Sil?" She asked.

Sil nodded affirmatively, and the two of them joined hands and closed their eyes. Their breathing synchronized, and in no time they were attuned to each other's power levels. As they powered up to the maximum that they could stand, they were both happy and proud to know that they were capable of reaching almost 2,950 right off the bat. Reaching the Commander's 3,000 would take no time at all.

The two women let their power simmer at 2,950 for over an hour before pushing further into their new limits. They were forced to stop at 3,200 a short time later, and simmered there for over two hours before moving on. By the time they finished for the day, over ten hours later, they had pushed to a power level of almost 3,700. Well above the Commander's request. Both of them were satisfied with this number, and eager to get back to report their success.

... However...

Something else had been taking place during that time.

Era, unbeknownst to Sil'Eph, had been practicing something new. Her question just yesterday about being able to "feel" Sil, or vice a versa, had provoked a theory in her mind. She toyed with the sensation, the whole time adjusting her power level also focusing on Sil's presence. It was a new kind of feeling, being able to actually "feel" Sil sitting there while her eyes were closed. It was almost as if Era could feel the presence of Sil's Ki. A strong, almost forceful presence sat before her. It was definitely Sil.

But just what was happening to her?

Era was able to feel Sil's presence, but what did it mean? Was it her Ki? Her aura? Her breath? What was it? Something about Sil allowed Era to actually physically perceive her presence without touching her or seeing her. When Era felt Sil's presence, she was able to compare it to the power she felt within herself. Era decided to put it to the test, and judged Sil's power to be around 100 points higher than hers. When she checked the Scouter, she was right. Era's power was now at 3,600, and Sil's power 3,700.

So just what am I doing? She thought to herself.

As they landed, she began to form a theory about what was going on and what exactly it was she was doing. And it came at a good time too, as the Commander was waiting for them and asked them about their progress upon their return.

They reported their progress, but Era kept hidden what she had discovered as she still wasn't entirely sure what she was doing or how it worked. She'd wait to report on it until she had figured it out completely.

Meanwhile, while the girls were off training, Korvaiis waited for Karas to awaken before addressing him.

"Yesterday you asked me about communicating with 'every' Saiyan. Last night before I went to sleep I compiled a list of Saiyans I want to remain off of the list and out of communication. I have since sent that list to you, so please look it over carefully before broadcasting again today." He asked.

On the list included the following individuals to leave out of communication:

* The Rulers of all 17 home worlds as well as their closest advisors

* Commanders Keeldh of Metahnn, Commander Aleks of Igliis, General Nelher of Kiirien, and General Bramos of Myende

* Scientist Yearnes of Metahnn's Ki Research Division

The list included many others, but these were the primary individuals to leave out and to their fate. The Commander's logic was that they were either in league with what was going on, or they were simply too engrained in the old ways to be good for the future of the Saiyan Race. Perhaps it was not his place to make these kinds of decisions, but he knew who his allies were and he knew who held the kind of hatred for Inecros that would make them listen to the Commander's plea to escape from the impending disaster.

As for who responded beyond those whom the Commander knew about?... Time would tell.
