Fandom Dragon Ball: Limitless!

Tensing at the mention of the last question, Itta listened as each word was spoken. The names almost all the members of the group, the only one he ever met being right in front of him. Would he fight with these people against anything they could come up against. He talked big with his earlier questions, but could he face death for people he hasn’t even met yet.

“ I would.”

The words slipped out before he could form a reason. Quicker on the recovery than the last time, he began his explanation.

“Cause that’s what being in a raid group means to me. That I would stand by my comrades in the thick of things. It is what we Estrella do, even at the cost of our lives. We are a stubborn bunch though. Even weak, we don’t go down that easy.”

His father was the one to teach him to never to be afraid of the front line. That it is where true bravery can be found. With his death, Itta still held on to his father’s words. His mother’s words of endearment to her husband strengthened his respect for his late father. Itta knew that his death would be charging head long into a wall he couldn’t break, but he knew his fate was to be there in the battlefield.

Nei cracked a small smile and jotted a few more notes on his clipboard.

"Very well," he said.

Once he was finished, he set his clipboard down and walked over to Itta.

"Congratulations, Itta Estrella. You have proven yourself a warrior of merit and worth beyond a number on a Scouter. If you have no further Raid Groups you wish to join, you are free to sign the document and make your joining Raid Group 02A official." He said, gesturing to the clipboard he'd set down.

Standing up as well he was finished being accepted, Itta stood wide eyed for as a the shock turned into excitement. He went to shake Nei's hand while thanking him of the opportunity. “Thank you sir. Had a few groups in mind, but nothing compared to this opportunity. You will not regret this”. After the exchanged, he reached for the clipboard and pen left alone on the table. He signed his name in the intended area, rather large than his normal signature, and once completed he handed the board back to his new superior.

(Okay I lied. One last post)

Nei shook hands with Itta.

"Very well then, Itta. As an official member of Raid Group 02A, you must now go and meet with the Commander."

He picked up the clipboard, tucking it under his arm.

"The Commander is likely contemplating the results of our last Raid, in which two of our members were seriously injured and required immediate and serious medical attention. He's likely to be in a somewhat lethargic mood, so do forgive him if he's a bit slow to respond to any questions you have."

He took a moment to glance outside, arching an eyebrow.

"I suspect he's wandered off, or he'd be floating there above the Medical Bay. Use your Scouter to find him. He's hard to miss, with a power of 24,000. Go find him. Consider that your first order." He said.

Itta confirmed his task with a nod and a brief “Understood,” as he finished up his interview with Nei. Exiting the room, he closed the door carefully as to not to slam it in his excited state. He began walking towards the exit of the building, failing to control his excitement. It started as a small laugh, slowly turned into a chuckle before he couldn’t contain it any more. As he walked by the waiting room with the other applicants, his joyful laugh broke the silence hanging over.

Leaving the building, Itta bursted straight into the air. His fist raised above his head as he ascended, shouting “Yes! I’m in!” as he reached his intended height. He through a few punches in the air, trying to cool himself off. He wanted to have a cool head as he meet his new commander. Throwing his final punch, he let out a long breath and prepared to complete his first order.

Bringing his hand to his scouter’s controls, he begun to examine the horizon for the medical facility that Korvaiis was waiting. The excitement of his recruitment cooled off as he began to focus on his task. Thinking soundly again, Itta remembered Nei’s mentioning of why their commander was at a med center. Two of his new teammates were seriously injured from their recent raid. A small worry entered his head that the group started recruiting again cause they thought their members wouldn’t make it.

Finally finding the 24k power level, Itta shook his head of these doubts. It was much more likely for them to be celebrating their success by increasing their numbers for future events. Now heading towards his commander’s readings, another thought occurred to Itta as the wind rushed past him. Would Korvaiis’ mood be sour due to a literal third of his raid group being in critical condition. While Itta did care for their recovery, the more pressing matter to him was meeting his new boss with eighty times his power level in a bad mood and telling him he’s replacing two of his soldiers that could be dying so many Youls below.

Gritting his teeth, Itta kept his pace towards the elite power level. He had a bad habit having having a pessimistic view of things, but an even worse of pushing forward regardless. He was ordered by his recruiter to go present himself to his new commander. If meeting his commander was too much for him, then what was the point of even joining. As a floating figure with one of the largest power level Itta has seen came into view, he prepared himself for his introduction.

Karas lay in bed for an hour or two longer before he received a text message from his superior officer, Commander Lussar, on his Scouter. He opened it tentatively, fearing the worst.

"Karas, you've been an admirable soldier these past few years, always putting yourself into the thick of battle and bravely protecting Saiyan settlements. However, I have received reports that you have been intercepting alien subspace broadcasts and using them for personal entertainment. This is unacceptable. Exposing ourselves to weakling aliens damages Saiyan pride, distracts from practical things like training and--in your case at least--research, and may lessen your resolve on the battlefield. A Saiyan warrior must push himself to his limits and beyond them, and you'll never do that if you put yourself in a position that may have you siding with the aliens we kill. In response, I am suspending you from the Planetary Defense Corps. for 6 months. It would have been permanent, but your accomplishments are too great for that, and I believe you can be redeemed. Goodbye."

Karas read the message, the rage building and building. He was furious, seething, and devastated. He was out of the PDC. The only military unit that he was good for. What was he going to do now, join the Raid Group permanently!? If this was the kind of man who was his direct superior, then maybe the PDC wasn't such a good fit for him after all.

No, he could fall back on something else. Maybe a job as a scientist? A civil engineer? He began checking job listings. They were in high demand, but the payment was hardly a living wage when he factored in living expenses and taxes. He might just have to check with the Raid Group.

Wait, he thought, the Raid Groups are the most respected people in our society next to the King, so...if I'm going to make the mind mightier than the sword, I have to be an example. That's right, an example of what a Saiyan intellectual can really do! The PDC was largely the same kind of work as Planet Raiding, just a little bit later on in a species' destruction. There's not much difference really. I might just join Raid Group 02A now....No, I can't do it. To join a Raid Group is to go back on everything I've ever stood for. But the PDC commits its fair share of genocide as well...I just don't know.

He continued to think on his career path as the day became night, and finally, he fell asleep as the night gave way to tomorrow's dawn.

((@Kyero, Karas is now on Day 2. I will not post until the rest of the cast has caught up.))

The Commander floated above the city, pondering silently what to do as his Scouter sensed the presence of an approaching power source. He turned his head and saw a young Saiyan flying at him with great enthusiasm written all over his face. It took but a moment for the Commander to size him up and recognize who he was.

"Ah, Itta Estrella. By the look on your face, you passed Nei's questionnaire?" He asked.

Meanwhile, Nei took a few moments to put together a message on his Scouter which he sent out to one final individual who had been on the list. He was near the bottom, mainly because of his position as more of a technical expert than a fighter, but Nei finally made it around to sending him a message.

"Karas Lugroth, you have been selected as a candidate to join Raid Group 02A by Commander Korvaiis Drehden. Please meet me at Sires Plateau overlooking the capitol city tomorrow at midday. We will discuss the possibility of you joining the Raid Group at that time," he wrote.

His Scouter then sent the message to Karas' Scouter, allowing him to see it when he awoke the next morning.

His Scouter then sent the message to Karas' Scouter, allowing him to see it when he awoke the next morning.
Karas woke up the next morning feeling perfectly healthy. It seemed like his injuries had healed earlier than the doctor had predicted. He got up, saw the doctor, ran through a basic physical, and was cleared to leave in an hour. As he was flying home, he checked his messages and found...IT. An actual request for recruitment by Raid Group 02A. He stopped and stood there in the sky, absolutely dumbfounded.

Should he take it? Should he not? He pondered on this for a moment. He had already wound up violating his moral code merely by joining the PDC. The PDC often did cleanup work for the Planet Raiders, and so he already had found himself killing innocent noncombatants on multiple occasions, leaving him with no leg to stand on. There were some times when he actually was defending Saiyan citizens from foreign attack, but few leaders were dumb enough to attack his species unless they had the power to back it up. And the only case of the latter was Inecros.

The fact of the matter was that the PDC had fewer battles under its belt than the Planet Raiders, resulting in fewer Zenkais and lower power levels. When you combined this with lack of funding or public support, you got a recipe for disaster. Saiyans need Zenkais to grow in strength, and Karas was no exception. If Karas wanted the power to make a case for intellectual Saiyans, he would have to be a Planet Raider. Besides, he could leave the baby-murdering to the actually callous people, and just guard ships again.

So it was decided. He was going to meet Nei after all. Karas brought up a map of Metahnn and flew towards Sires Plateau. There weren't many power levels here, mostly people who were training in isolation and a few small towns. But there was one overlooking a cliff, that seemed to be doing not much of anything. He flew there, and dropped down in front of Nei.

"I take it you're Recruitment Officer Nei? The name's Karas, nice to meet you in-person."

Bringing himself to a halt in front of his new commander, Itta floated at attention in front of Korvaiis. Being addressed by name caught him slightly off guard, but was glad that his superior knew his name. The mention of his excited look only furthered his smile.

“Yes sir, as well as the first order given. Itta Estralla, newest recruit to my knowledge reporting as ordered.” he responded standing, well hovering, at attention.

Now face to face with the man who would be leading them in their missions, Itta felt even more at ease. He has been around elites before, but this one gave off an aura of prestige. Not only did this man have the high power level, but the skill to use it to his deadliest. In a fight between the two, well it wouldn't correctly be called a fight. His new commander didn't seem to be the type to play around like the elite from his last recruitment attempt. It would be over in the second, Itta only alive his commander wished it.

Korvaiis gave Itta a once over, and then nodded his head.

"Do forgive me if I seem a bit... distracted. I'm sure Nei told you of Era and Sil's situation, so I won't repeat it. For now, consider yourself on standby." He said, taking a moment to think about something else.

"As well, take some time to think about this question while you're at it but don't bother answering me. Just think about it... 'Does power have limits?'"

He gave Itta a pat on the shoulder, and then turned on his Scouter.

"I have something to look into at the moment, so do as you please unless an order for a Raid comes through on your Scouter within the next few days. Two of our members are down, but I don't intend to keep us on the sidelines if another Raid comes up." He said, flying away.

A bit brief, but Nei told Itta to expect a distracted leader and this was about as distracted and scatter brained as he would get.

The next day, Nei waited for Karas at the Plateau as promised. When he arrived, he gave him a nod of his head.

"The Commander, Korvaiis Drehden, pulled your file and has a proposition for you." He said, pulling out a piece of rolled up paper, which when unrolled for Karas was a contract.

"This is a written and signed promise by Commander Korvaiis, staking his name and reputation as a Raid Commander on the outcome of agreement if it is provided by you as the recipient. Should you accept and join Raid Group 02A, you will be provided with two benefits: First. In addition to all of your earnings for participation in Group Raids, you will be provided with an external supply of funds equivalent to 15% of earned profits from both the Commander and Sub-Commander respectively for the purpose of adding and expanding upon your responsibilities which will be listed in a moment. Second. You will be provided with free and unfettered access to any and all Saiyan resource connections and supplies that Raid Group 02A has acquired over the years since its establishment."

Nei paused for a moment, letting the benefits sink in before providing the true meaning behind the contract.

"These benefits will be granted only if you willingly accept and agree to the following terms and conditions: First. You will not participate, meaning launch, for any 'Purge' or 'Wipe' Raids and participate only in 'Sale' and 'Colonization' Raids. Second. You will accept complete and total responsibilities pertaining to Raid Group 02A's transportation vessels, communication devices, and basic necessity items such as our armor. Third. You will invest wisely and efficiently your time and earnings to furthering the advancement of technology and knowledge of the Raid Group as a whole. In addition to this, you will agree to provide any and all accurate and verifiable information you can acquire about all known planets and their known inhabitants in the Unified Planetary Database to lessen the chances of Raid Group 02A sustaining losses, as well as providing this information to any and all other Raid Groups at the Commander's order should it be given."

He handed the contract to Karas so he could read it himself, but it was kind of a moot point since Nei had memorized it verbatim and spoke it to him aloud just now.

"You have exactly one full day to decide whether you will or will not accept this proposition. Mind you that the second condition means you will not receive payment outside of the Commander and Sub-Commander's percentage on Purge and Wipe Raids, lessening your funds. It also means you will be barred from combat, lessening the chances for you to grow more powerful if your power hasn't already stopped increasing due to its genetic limitation."

Nei prepared to leave.

"If you come to a decision, inform the Commander immediately and meet him in person to deliver it. He will be expecting you to do so, and he will take it as an offense if you merely send him your choice through the Scouter. You do not wish to offend him that way, believe me."

With that, Nei flew away and left Karas to his decision. He'd get paid for all Sale and Colonization Raids, but not for Wipe or Purges. However, no matter what, the Commander and Sub-Commander would provide him with 15% of each of their pay from the Raid so he'd always get something. It was a win-win for the most part. Now it was just a matter of Karas choosing to accept or not accept the offer.

As the commander spoke, Itta absorbed all the information given to him. Era and Sil, the names of the two members who were in critical condition. He was in Standby, meaning he was free to do as he pleases for the most part. Just had to keep his scouter handy to make sure no new orders were missed. The final was a small task, another question to ponder over. Thinking of it as extra credit to his exam, Itta pushed it to the back of his head to think about later. With a pat on his shoulder and a reminder of his standby status, Korvaiis was off.

Left alone in the air, Itta wondered what to do with his free time. His thoughts went back to the question. Does power itself have a limit? It reminded him too much of the question if he has a limit. So much so they he wants to answer no, even though every sayian has hit a limit to their power. The new recruit was sure this was a trick question somehow, and was glad he didn’t have to give an answer. He would still give the question some thought whenever he found himself without anything to do.

But Itta was tired of answering questions for right now. Right now he wanted to learn a bit more rather than being tested on what he knew already. Quickly descending from the air, his feet touched down right in front of the entrance of the medical facility. Entering the building, the sterile air assaulted his nose as he began his search for his new teammates. He was planning just a brief visit to his two new comrades if possible. To be able to see what they looked like, even if heavily injured, as well as to wish them well. He wondered if they were even in any condition to be seen since their commander was waiting outside. Regardless, Itta searched for his first meeting Era and Sil.

Karas listened in stunned silence as the recruiter read out the document. He was barred from participating in Purge and Wipe Raids (which meant that he was under no obligation to commit genocide), he was being given free reign to develop new technologies as he wished (even though it was probably going to be all weapons of mass destruction, those same technologies could be given to the PDC so he didn't particularly care), he was being told to gather information (which meant that Korvaiis probably thought that those intercepted subspace signals were actually helpful, so his former superior officer could go fuck himself as far as he was concerned), and he still was getting paid for Purge and Wipe Raids he couldn't even participate in. Really, the only caveat was that his power would stagnate, but he could just build machines to do his dirty work so that didn't even matter in the grand scheme of things.

In seconds, he had made his decision. He navigated with his Scouter to the roster of his previous mission. Commander Korvaiis was at the top of course, and Karas knew he had to go find him. He took out a pen, signed the document with his name, tucked it away, and set the Scouter to display only the commander's power signature.

in a few minutes, he had flown to Korvaiis' position, floating above him. He dropped so he was alongside him on his left as they both hurtled through air.

"The Scouter says you're Commander Korvaiis. I've accepted your offer, and if you stop I can give you my contract."

The Commander tilted his head a bit to see Karas, and slowed to a stop mid-air.

"I am," He said in response to the inquiry of the the fact that he was the Commander.

He took Karas' contract, looking it over and checking the signature. He was satisfied.

"Very well. Welcome to Raid Group 02A Karas." He said, reaching out to offer a handshake to Karas.

"For the time being I will be waiting for a good Raid opportunity to surface and assign us to, so you and the others will have a few days to yourselves. Because the contract was signed after this Raid, I cannot allocate any funds to you yet, but I can give you the codes to Raid Group 02A's Supply Storage if you wish to gain access to what little technology we do have at this time and start working on upgrading and repairing what's in need of repairs." He offered.

Itta made his way through the white halls of the medical facility. The healthy clean air irritated his nose, much preferring the smell of the fresh wind outside. The narrow corridor he walked through was lined with doors, all closed preventing him from seeing if any patients were resting from their injuries. Reaching the end, the hallway opened up to a small circular room with two half circle kiosk taking up a majority of the space. The room was buzzing with activity, most likely medically personnel busy helping the wounded warriors from the same raid that caused his allies injuries. Approaching one of the members who was only typing on a computer, a long black haired woman who was wearing a doctor’s coat and large circular glasses, Itta cleared his throat trying to get her attention.

“Excuse me, doctor,” he finally said after failing to get a response after the indirect methods.

“Yes,” she tore her eyes from the screen for a moment to see who was talking to her. After she saw the short saiyan, her face turned right back to the screen again as she continued. “... sir. How may I help you.”

Always one to keep eye contact with the person he is talking to, Itta’s face tightened as the doctor continued to work at her computer. Feeling slightly ignored, he swallowed those feelings knowing she was just doing her job and helping people recover after the fight. Continuing, Itta asked, “Do you know where Era and Sil of Raid Group 02A are being taken care of? I was just brought in to the group and wanted to check in on them in my free time.”

“Ah, one second,” the doctor replied before looking around the room for a few seconds. She didn’t seem to find what she was looking for though as a frown found its way to her face. “She returned to starting at the computer as she began again.”These kind of questions are usually meant for the nurses, but they all seem to be busy currently. Give me a second while I pull up their information.” Itta could just make out the screen’s reflection on the doctor’s glasses change from black to white as she pulled up different information than before.

“Raid Group... 02... A,” she muttered to herself as she worked on the machine. “Ah, here it is. Era Niir’lana and Sil’Eph Niir. Both are resting in stable conditions in room 43C as a 14 hour treatment. They are currently on life support however, so you won’t be able to enter the room, but you can see them from the window if you just wanted to see them to wish them well. Going to be like that for the next... three weeks it says.” The monitor on her glasses went back to the black screen from when they started. “The room is down the north hallway, take the second left, and should be the third door down on the right.”

After thanking the doctor, Itta followed the instructions given to the room. Reaching the window without incident, he peered through to finally see the injured saiyans. Most of their bodies were covered with a blanket with wires running under it, most likely to check their vitals, so Itta only got the just of their body types. Their mouths were covered too, a breathing mask fixed to their faces for their life support. The rest of their heads were the only things Itta could make out. He wondered if they were sisters with how similar they were. The body types were almost the same under the cover, and their fair face and long hair could easily be mistaken for similar genetics.

Putting all that aside, Itta continued to watch his Raid members recover. He was no stranger to the hospital as a proud reckless fighter, but not to this extend. Remembering the doctor’s words, they were taken care of for fourteen hours and will be out for the next three weeks. This is the kind of danger you put yourself in with Raids. Fear and excitement coursed through Itta’s veins at the thought of being in a raid himself, and if the commander finds one, it might be soon.

There is a stigma that men are more powerful than women, but I beg to differ. I’ll show you the power of a Saiyan who is also a woman!

"To grow up alone is a fate unbecoming of a Saiyan, but it has made me stronger than I dared hope. I can only continue to hope, and with luck I'll always have Era by my side to push me to even greater heights."

The ticking of that infernal monitor was maddening, but there was nothing to be done about it now.

Era's consciousness was ablaze with activity despite the fact that the doctors were keeping both her and Sil on life support. She was supposed to be out cold, but she was awake. But she could not open her eyes. She had no energy left to do so. But her mind was energetic and working overtime. It was a vidid, lucid experience... But not a fun one.

Pain was searing through every muscle fiber, every nerve ending in her skin, and every major organ. She was acutely aware of every injury from the small to the large as she lay on her back with that blasted mask over her mouth and nose. Her eyes were fluttering slightly, moving behind her eyelids as her mind went every which direction as something changed within her.

What is it? She thought to herself.

It's warm, but what is it? She thought again.

It was indeed warm. Something within her chest was warm and soothing against the searing pain throughout her body. She had never noticed or experienced this sensation before, nor did she know of the fact of its existence. It felt so familiar, and yet so foreign. Like it had never been there before, yet had always existed somewhere within the core of her being. She was trying to reach out to it. Trying to connect with it. But it was elusive.

Whatever this entity or sensation was, it was powerful. There was a sensation of power emanating from it which almost frightened her. It was as if it was the embodiment of limitless potential. It made her almost jealous to feel this strange sensation within her which existed but was not yet part of her.

She wanted it.

She found herself craving it.

That sensation of limitlessness... She needed it now.

She could sense its presence, and knew now of its existence. She wanted it. She needed it. And she would do whatever she had to in order to acquire and claim it as her own.

The fact that it was right there, within reach and yet so far away, was maddening to her. But within this vivid experience, Sil'Eph too experienced the same sensation and the same feelings. She too felt this odd sensation and entity within her embodying limitless potential, and she too craved it. However, unlike Era who was ready to challenge it and do any and all to acquire it, Sil was wary. She wanted it. Yes. But she wanted it to become part of her on mutually beneficial terms.

Whatever this sensation was, she felt that it was waiting for something. Waiting to show itself. Waiting to connect with her. Waiting for her to prove her worth. She knew she would get there eventually, but she wanted to take her time. The idea of limitless potential was overbearing and frightening. The thought of not being able to hit a ceiling of power and find stability and finality... It was terrifying.

But both women now knew of this strange existence within themselves and wanted to taste of its miraculous essence. But the question was... would they be able to?

In the meantime, the monitors continued to display their abnormal brainwave patterns as they continued to flirt with this presence in their own unique ways to try and coax it into sharing its mystical energies and limitless potential with them.

Standing watch over the resting bodies, Itta contemplated his next move. Most of his affairs were in order, his only main task today accomplished of now being in a Raid Group. He had plenty of rest on the trip over to the planet, and even with all this excitement he did not yet feel up to his afternoon training just yet for some reason. As he mulled his thoughts over, the answer finally came to him. Not from his head, but from his stomach. A low growl reminded the new recruit that he hasn’t eaten since his landing on the home world.

Finally leaving the sleeping women to rest in peace, Itta backtracked his way out of the medical center. Back in the fresh air, Itta kicked off the ground and took off to the sky. Wondering where he could find a large cheap meal in this world of sayians, Itta began to check his scouter large gatherings of warriors in hopes of finding some kind of food place. He hoped the food was cheap, running low on his starter funds since the start of his journey. Hoping to find a raid group sooner than this, he had to take up some odd jobs here and there or just go hunting himself to keep himself fed.

On his third attempt at finding a group of power levels, Itta seem to have struck gold and found a place to eat. It was a bit more than what he wanted to spend on food, but it was all good and there was a lot of it. Depending on when the next raid was, he was going to be tight for credits for the next while, but he felt he needed to treat himself with how well the day was going. Sitting at the table as he finished the last of his food, he let out a content sigh between bites. He felt truly relaxed.

"Thank you sir. It's an honor," Karas said as he shook his new commander's hand. The commander seemed like a very imposing man, dignified, even fatherly, more than worthy of his status as the leader of a Raid Group, if not an even higher position. In fact seemed a bit too dignified for his position; the vast majority of Planet Raiders he had met were overconfident, sadistic, brash, and overall very unpleasant characters. Then again, the kinds of people who signed up to wipe out entire species probably weren't the most pleasant people, especially if they did it for the money or the respect. Karas reasoned that it takes a dignified man to keep order among a rowdy group like the Planet Raiders.

"So, is there anything else I need to know before I leave or will you send me the details over Scouter?"

The Commander gave Karas a nod of his head when Karas said it was an honor to meet him.

"I will send details over the Scouter. Until then, remember these numbers well: 12A4-C5. That is the combination to Raid Group 02A's storage unit at the Launch Facility. All that we have is there, although I'm afraid it's not much. We have a few older model ships which you are free to either upgrade or scrap for parts if you find they can be used to upgrade what we have currently. We also have a few old model Ki Concentration Blasters used by the Saiyan military during the time of our ancestors. They're relics now compared to what we can do with our own Ki without the need of devices, but back before our kind migrated here they were how we concentrated Ki to higher and higher levels for attacks. Perhaps there will be some kind of gem hidden within their circuitry you can make use of?" He said.

The options for what could happen were just guesses on the Commander's part. He was no engineer. But if Karas could salvage anything from the otherwise junky stores of Raid Group 02A's tech then all the better for it.

"Now, I must be leaving. I have pressing business to attend to and will leave you to your work. I will contact you when and if we have a new Raid Assignment. Farewell," he said with a salute.

With that, he was off. He had to speak to someone important about something... Things were not as they seemed. The Raids were getting harder and harder, almost as if they were deliberately being handed out as suicide missions for everyone involved. More than 50% of all Raid Groups across all 17 home worlds had lost at least 30% of their numbers over the last six months alone.

So it was time to have a chat with a certain someone in charge of dispersing Raid Opportunity Information.

Finished with his meal, Itta stood from his seat, stretched slightly, and left the building. All goals out of the way and his stomach full, Itta didn’t really have that much left to do. Contemplating what to do next, he returned to his ship which he left parked in a rather secluded opening on the planet. He wanted to get to get out of the ship after his trip from Singu where his last recruitment attempt was. So much so in fact he landed the ship in the nearest clearing rather than look for any kind of port for the ships. Not that he wanted to pay to keep his ship at one anyways. His vessel was already weather worn, that another night couldn’t hurt.

The spacecraft was an older type, a hand me down from his old trainer Beet who has since upgraded. It was the same type his father flew in the 12B Raid group, and Itta treasured the ship. Besides the wear and tear of time, it was reasonably well taken care of, the only new scar being a blast wound over what was once the 12B marking on the side. Itta marred the ship himself after being thoroughly rejected by the group. It was an embarrassing outburst, but it helped him with venting his steam.

While quickly inspecting the ship for any damages in the few hours he’s been gone, Itta wondered where a hanger was for his ship. His mind then took the next jump in logic and wondered where he would be staying the night as well. Did the raid group have some kind of barracks for him to call home until he found more permanent housing? He formed a quick message with his scouter and sent it off to his recruiter, not wanting to bother the commander with such questions, hoping he would get a reply soon with the coordinates.

While waiting for a reply, Itta thought he could take opportunity of the empty space he had found for himself. Metahnn was a larger planet than both his home planet of Ferohn, so the gravity of the planet felt nice to push himself against. Like wearing really weighted clothing. He began a practiced routine of iron body and power training to pass the time, hoping this would be sparring with other members in the near future instead of by himself.”

Five Days Later

The Commander sat in a chair across a table from Sub-Commander Urod as they poured over the information they'd received.

It was troubling indeed.

The Commander's connections had provided him with the knowledge that the one in charge of handling and distributing Raid Opportunities had indeed been deliberately choosing the hardest options with the highest expected mortality rate. Someone... what's worse, a Saiyan... Was trying to thin out the herd, so to speak.

But why?

This was that question which the Commander and Sub-Commander were pondering when Kendra walked into the room.

"Pardon me, Commander. But we have received a new Raid Assignment, this one mandatorily chosen for us by the King himself."

The Commander rose from his chair and took the document from her hands. It only took a single glance for him to arch an eyebrow and look up at Kendra with a stern expression on his face.

"We're not accepting this Raid, and I don't care if the King says it's 'mandatory.' This is a suicide mission, and I will not have any of us killed to satisfy that blowhard's whims."

"What shall I respond with?"

"You can respond however you wish, but make sure that whomever you report to that I am the one who made the final decision. If they try to pin this on you, report to me immediately and I will handle the situation."

"Very good, sir." She responded with a salute.

"Commander, what shall we tell the others?"

"Send word to all on the team that we are accepting the Raid."

"Yes, Com-"

She stopped

"Um... Sir?"

"You heard me. Tell everyone we accept, and have Era and Sil'Eph transferred from the Medical Bay to our Mobile Base."

"Ooh, I understand sir. Right away."

With that, she departed, sending the following information to the team's Scouters:

This is Kendra of Raid Group 02A. The Commander has accepted a Raid on Planet M34 Sector E-3. It is a one month journey, so prepare anything you need for the trip and rendezvous at the Launch Facility in exactly 4 hours.

With the message sent, the Sub-Commander walked up to the Commander.

"Are you sure telling them we accepted a Raid is a wise decision?"

"Yes. I will tell them all the truth when we arrive at our destination."

"Very well, sir."

And with that, the two men parted ways to prepare themselves for the trip.

Meanwhile, at the Medical Bay, Kendra spoke with the doctors about Era and Sil's circumstances and had them transported to the Mobile Base of Raid Group 02A. The Mobile Base was essentially just an enlarged personal travel vessel capable of housing five people comfortably and eight with some mild discomfort. But only Era, Sil, and Kendra would be aboard the vessel for this trip as someone needed to keep an eye on their condition.

Everyone else would be on board their own ships, and would be put in stasis by their ship's life support system for the duration of the journey until they were within one hour of arrival.

By the time they did arrive, Era and Sil would have recovered and be joining them properly for what the Commander would tell them.

Karas had listened to the commander intently, and flown off. Over the next five days, he had trained about 3 hours each morning, started upgrading some of the ships, Scouters, and other such things, and most importantly was working on his personal pet project, his most ambitious creation since his arm.

Two robots, Tragedy and Comedy. Each one a powerhouse on their own, even more dangerous with their unique fusion ability. They had power on par with lower Elites, and their fusion, Black Comedy, was among the most powerful Saiyans alive.

4 hours later on the day of the Raid, Karas, unclear whether he was supposed to launch or not (his contract specified he was barred from launching for Purge and Wipe Raids, but the commander had contacted him anyway), showed up at the Launch Facility, his ship's small cargo bay filled with various equipment and essentials and a relatively large crate.

He walked up to Korvaiis and asked, "Commander Korvaiis, am I supposed to launch or not? I showed up anyway, since I created a pair of combat robots for Purge and Wipe Raids I want to demonstrate, but should I stay here? The ship can deliver the robots on autopilot. I'm only asking because of the contract, you didn't make it abundantly clear what kind of raid this was and you contacted me anyway."

Getting use to Raid Group life over the past week, Itta was getting a bit restless. His shipped was moved into the hanger, he was moved into some housing, and he has been getting into a routine of training and eating that fit him on the new planet. However, he just couldn’t wait until his first raid. He knew the group recently returned from one, but still waiting for his first and his commander words of finding one as soon as they came up got him fired up for it.

Then the message that he has been waiting for came through his scouter. Four hours? It gave him enough time to finish up his training, shower off the sweat and blood, and get a quick meal in before he had to be there, so he continued his practice with renew, wishing that time would move faster. Finishing up with half an hour to spare, Itta made his way way to the launch facility where his partners and ship wait.

Five minutes left, he landed outside his destination, making the rest of the trip on foot. He found his Raid groups next to their ships. The other newest member, Karas he believed, was talking to Korvaiis about something. He heard mentions of robots and purge and wipe raids, but wasn’t able to pick up much. It was just then that it hit Itta that he still didn’t know what type of raid this was. He didn’t particularly care, a job was a job and he would do it the best he could, so he figured this information would be given in due time and just stood and waited.

Korvaiis and Sub-Commander Urod waited for everyone to arrive at the appointed time. Once everyone had, Karas approached the Commander with a series of questions related to his involvement.

"You will accompany us on this Raid. That is all you need to know for the time being. Pack your robots however you wish, and prepare to launch. We depart this platform as soon as Era and Sil have been loaded onto the Mobile Base." He said.

That was really all he wanted to say, and Sub-Commander Urod stepped up to fill in a few gaps.

"This Raid mission is... unique, and carries with it circumstances which will take further explanation which sadly we do not have time for. We must launch immediately, so please get your affairs in order and prepare to depart. Era and Sil will arrive in ten minutes." He concluded.

True to his word, Era and Sil did arrive ten minutes later with Kendra and Nei piloting the transport vessel. The two unconscious women were loaded into the Mobile Base, with Kendra staying behind with them and Nei boarding his personal vessel. The Commander and Sub-Commander did as well, and the team was launched the moment they were all set to do so.

Their coordinates had been set, and their life-support systems in place. As the team entered the depths of space, their ships put them to sleep while supplying them with nutrients intravenously. It was standard procedure for deep space missions.

Along the way, twenty days into the trip, Era's eyes fluttered in her sleep.

Something's... calling me, she thought.

It was that feeling again. That warm, familiar feeling. Was it her life force?... No, that feeling was known to her very well. This was new, and altogether different. The sheer volume of potential from this radiance was soothing, yet subtly terrifying. But nevertheless Era embraced this new sensation and at long last felt a connection being made to it. Her body was flushed with new Ki, tripping the sensors of her life-support and awakening Kendra who promptly checked the equipment for failures. Remarkably, there were none. Only a spike in Era's power reading. It had grown from a mere 7 due to her condition to over 255, and was still climbing.

As Kendra watched the power readings, she was relieved when it stopped at Era's typical 300. She let out a sigh of relief, and brushed a strand of Era's hair away from her face.

"That could have ended poorly... You may be asleep, but you're still fighting something aren't you?" She asked the unconscious Era.

Within her mind Era was at peace. She had embraced this feeling and had changed because of it. Within her core she felt a new potential... A limitless potential.

It was as if all inhibitors within her body had been removed, and she was finally free to grow beyond the limits which her ancestors had claimed she'd never breach. Everything seemed possible now, but then again this was a dream. Wasn't it? It seemed the only explanation.

Meanwhile, Sil had experienced the same thing. She too had embraced this feeling and discovered a sense of limitless potential within herself. It scared her. She knew that power was a double edged sword, so what would this power do to her? What would it do to Era? Somehow she knew that Era had experienced the same thing, and was changed because of it. She didn't know how she knew this. It was almost as if she could "sense" it.

But what did it all mean?

The remaining time for the trip concluded around a week and a half later, and the team was all awakened from their slumber by their automatic life-support release system. Now awake and ready to land, they all descended to the planet's surface. The Commander was the first out of his ship to wait on this new foreign world, but it was not so new to him. This was in fact a world he discovered years ago before he attained this rank and post, and it was one he used for special meetings like the one they were all about to have.

Sub-Commander Urod was next to exit his ship, and he stood beside the Commander as the others landed and prepared to exit their ships.

It was time to provide proper answers to questions previously asked by Karas and certainly those unasked but fresh in the mind of Itta as well should he choose to voice them.

Also, the Mobile Base landed a moment later and the Commander's Scouter was picking up a new reading from it... A very powerful reading of almost 40,000. Just what had happened on the journey over here?

Itta stood at attention as he listened to his superiors words. His first raid was apparently going to be quite a unique one, something they couldn’t quite explain in the time they had. Biting his lip to hold his questions back for the time, Itta followed his orders and and went towards his ship. He loved his ship for its sentimental values, but couldn’t help but notice it was really outclassed by everyone else's. Especially that tinker Karas. He wondered if he would help with some much needed upgrades once he got the credits for this raid.

Sleep took over as the ship took off from the bay, the autopilot programmed with their intended destination. His dreams where the same as they usually are when in this deep slept. He was fighting various shadows of enemies of foes he barely remembers. Always fighting to try and prove himself to something, but he doesn’t know what. It wasn’t the same type of pride when he was awake, to prove his blood of his father was strong. It felt more like he was trying to impress something. The dreams only happened during his deep hibernation while traveling, and usually slipped out of his mind before he can remember any details.

Being awoken as the planet came into view, Itta stared at his destination. He didn’t recognize the coordinates at take off, and he sure doesn’t know the world he was now looking at. Wondering if this was the planet the raid was to take place in, Itta glanced to the sides of his cockpit. The only other ships around were that of his Raid Group. Was the raid unique as it required only on group? His mind burned with questions as his ship went in for a landing.

His ship was one of the last to touch down, only the mobile base still landing as he exited his craft. With one jump, he exited his seat and landed next to the other members of his group and began his wait for an explanation. The commander too seemed to be waiting for everyone to arrive, but soon turned his head towards the base as it touched down. Half a second later, Itta’s scouter picked up the large power level as well. The power level wasn’t anything they have left with, and it was coming from the base itself. He tightened his fist and prepared to show the truthfulness of his answers from his recruitment if the power proved hostile.

There is a stigma that men are more powerful than women, but I beg to differ. I’ll show you the power of a Saiyan who is also a woman!

sil_eph_by_kumoriryuu-d9d6u7n.jpg

"To grow up alone is a fate unbecoming of a Saiyan, but it has made me stronger than I dared hope. I can only continue to hope, and with luck I'll always have Era by my side to push me to even greater heights."

The Mobile base touched down, with the Commander's Scouter going nuts about a near 40,000 power level within. He slowly powered up to his own maximum just in case the Base had been raided and the girls done away with, but as the doors opened he was shocked to see Kendra walking out first by herself in something of a daze.

"Kendra, what happened in that ship?" He asked.

The power level within the base dropped significantly, but at almost 16,000, it was still a very high power level. Kendra was still in something of a daze, and half heartedly looked to the Commander as her brain finally registered his question.

"I-... I don't know," she said softly.

"What do you mean 'you don't know?' Explain why there is a power level of almost 16,000 in the Base!" He ordered.

Kendra flinched slightly, and turned her head to look at the doors.

"Well sir... That would be the work of Era and Sil." She said quietly.

The Commander's jaw dropped a little.

"Their power levels are 300 and 420 Kendra... You're telling me that they are causing a power level of near 16,000 to be coming from that vessel?" He demanded.

"Yes, sir. They are causing it. Not more than three days ago their power levels suddenly started spiking dramatically. I thought it was a sensor malfunction, but when my Scouter confirmed the readings I..." She couldn't finish he sentence.

"............ Era! Sil'Eph! Come here at once!" He demanded in a loud voice.

It took a moment for the two women to appear, but there they were. Fully recovered as if nothing had ever happened, and far, far more powerful than ever before.

Era's new power was reflected in her vibrant and confident expression, a wide smile plastered on her face. Sil, however, was a slightly different story. Her new maximum potential, a healthy 8,190, brought her no outward signs of confidence. If anything, she looked very meek and unsure of herself. Her expression was more solemn, almost as if she knew she did something wrong.

The Commander approached the two women.

"So... Tell me how." He ordered.

Era's confidence didn't waver, but her expression faded from a smile to an uncertain and thoughtful half scowl.

"Honestly, Commander, I don't know. When I was unconscious, I was dreaming of something strange. It was a new kind of energy I've never encountered before. In fact I don't believe any Saiyan has encountered it before. It felt warm. Infinite. Like it was the embodiment of limitless potential and a lack of borders or boundaries. As I was unconscious I fought to embrace this feeling, and after I did I could feel myself changing. I thought it was all just in my dreams, but when I awoke I found I had in fact changed. There's really no better way to describe it." She said, her smile returning.

The Commander glared at her.

"So you're telling me you acquired this new power because of a warm fuzzy feeling in your dreams?"

She nodded.

"Essentially yes, Commander. I am. But more than that, there is a new kind of feeling within me. It's that energy I mentioned before. It's not Chaotic, Focused, or Concentrated. It's not my life force either. I know all four of them very well. This is some fifth kind of energy, and as I embraced it my body responded and began to release the limitations it was previously bound to. That's really all I can say about it at the moment as I don't fully understand anything beyond that. But I believe that's what happened, and, respectfully, I will not complain or question the result. By virtue of this new potential both Sil and I will be promoted to Middle Class Saiyans when we return to Metahnn. Honestly, sir, I can hardly wait for that day." She said excitedly.

The Commander was silent, taking this all in. Nei and Kendra were perplexed and uncertain of this development, and Sub-Commander Urod seemed a bit skeptical about the explanation as well. But there it was, standing right in front of them. A new kind of power never before encountered by the Saiyan Race had broken the genetic limitations upon both Era and Sil and allowed them to reach power levels unimaginable for Low Class warriors.

"I... am not sure what to think about this." The Commander said distractedly.

Urod came forward a moment later.

"With all due respect, sir, I believe this is a most fortuitous turn of events. Strange as it may be, Era and Sil have now acquired power which should be beyond their grasp. What's to say the rest of us will not be able to do the same when and if we learn of how to access this new type of energy? He said.

The Commander was silent, but slowly nodded his head as he thought long and hard of the possibilities of what this change represented to Raid Group 02A.
