Realistic or Modern DotC High

Kilo had stayed focus, arching his brow as he watched the screen. At least two hits he could block, but the other had knocked his character back, hitting pretty hard. Luckily with his defensive, it didn't take too much health, though as she continued to attack his health was depleting rapidly. At least once or twice he got hits in, though soon found a grabbing attack, and tried to use that one as much as he could. At one point, he managed to grab the other character and pound them a few times, though not for long. Over time he started trying to spam buttons to find moves, testing them out as he was trying to be in defense. Each time his character was beaten heavily, he leaned heavily against his knees, pressing his elbows into the skin. He barely noticed the elbowing, though smiled when she kissed his cheek each time she did it. Near the end of the round, when his character's health was rather low, he had a bright idea. He bumped his leg against hers to get her attention before poking her lightly in the side. Kilo then proceeded to do the combos he knew, attempting to do a special move as quickly as he could. All the while he laughed, knowing that he'd probably not win the round, but that didn't matter to him as much as having fun did.

Korren looked up at him with a half smile. He didn't sound the same as before, which worried her. She wanted to ask what was wrong, but felt it might have been bad timing. With one kiss she brought herself to softly smile at him. "Okay," She moved back to laying down, hissing through her teeth as she laid down against the pillow. Laying down itself was painful to do, especially when it involved her core. She thought about his question, wondering what she truly wanted. All she wanted was to lie down with Sage, but she was getting hungry, and thirsty at that. "Chocolate milk, and some cookies, please," It was a childish request, but it was what she wanted. She smiled at him, pulling the covers up a little. "Maybe some cuddles?" Korren blushed, feeling awkward on requesting that, but also feeling giddy about it. Sure, they cuddled before, but she always struggled discussing in words what they did together.

Winnie was intent on winning. So intent that the rest of the world blurred out of a focus for a moment. She was great at video games, but once Kilo start spamming that grab attack her health was depleting. Winnie was getting desperate, and was struggling a bit, which only made her focus harder. When Kilo bumped her knee, she hardly noticed it, although as he poked her side she let out a high-pitched squeal and dropped her controller as she leaned back on the couch, falling into a fit of giggles as she hugged herself and shoved him with her foot. "You... loser," she snapped through her giggles, trying to sound intimidating although it certainly didn't. Just as her laughter began to fade though she grabbed her controller back and managed to click one button before she realized something: Kilo had won. Winnie stared at the screen in shock, before turning to him with a glare. "You cheater," she hissed, getting to her feet. "I'm going to get you down to your boxers for that," she said, before looking down at her outfit. She did still have her heels on, although those certainly didn't count. Winnie sighed, slipping off the belt to her skirt before smirking. "Let's see how good you do distracted." Winnie slowly slid off her skirt, leaving her in her spandex shorts and her long sleeved black crop top for now. After tossing the skirt over to the couch, Winnie opted to take off her heels as well, before sitting back down, resting her legs in Kilo's lap and crossing them casually as she grabbed her controller, selecting to start round two, purposefully looking over to the television instead of Kilo, hoping he had the intended reaction.

Sage grinned and nodded at her request, pulling her blankets back over her and leaning down to kiss her forehead. "Chocolate milk, cookies, and extra cuddles coming right up for you, love." He headed back downstairs, pouring Korren a large glass of chocolate milk and taking a box of cookies out of the pantry. At first, he was only going to grab some, but after a few moments he shrugged off that idea and instead brought the whole box, although he stopped for a moment, glancing through the house and finding an unopened bottle of whiskey. It looked expensive. Sage took that too. He then carried everything upstairs, setting the milk and cookies down by Korren before sliding in on the other side, popping the whiskey open and taking a large swig. "This bottle is probably more than every paycheck I've ever gotten combined," he muttered, leaning back a bit more before wrapping his arm around Korren. In truth, this wasn't just a casual drink session, it was more of something to numb the mind, to make him forget about how obvious the comparison was between him and Bucky.

Kilo chuckled as she fell into a fit of laughter, finishing off her character unfairly. It was so cute when she laughed. He felt her shove her foot against him, which made him smile. Not that he wanted to be kicked, but he did love her reaction. He only smiled at her as she glared, looking as if he did nothing wrong, even though he knew exactly what he did. He again laughed at her boxer comment, before she proceeded to strip off her skirt. Kilo tried to look away, but he just couldn't. This made him nervous, and was starting to feel heated up. He let out a breath, finally breaking his gaze away when she was done. With women he tried to be as respectful as he could about their bodies, but she seemed rather insistent on showing hers. He leaned back against the couch, laying his arms over top her smooth legs. Now he couldn't think of the game, and surely his mind was sent in a whirl when he was given that little peak of perfection. Surely he would be loosing the next few rounds, unable to truly focus now. The only thing he tried to focus on was calming down before any... obvious side effects showed.

Korren smiled at him, waiting for him to get the snack In the meantime she managed to turn onto her side, laying with her hands underneath her head. For now she kept herself from dozing off. She thought about earlier, about her parents. They had so innocently brushed her off, and it indeed was painful. Did they really send Bucky that message? Did he ever respond to it? She would never know, but with Sage by her side things were going to be okay. The only thing she really worried about was if Bucky were to come by her home.

What she didn't know was that her parents were arranging for them to have a "family meeting" together, starting in a few days. They've noticed Korren's absence at home, and wondered if she was doing okay. Surely she must have been staying with Bucky or her other friends, whomever they might have been.

Her thoughts were cut short when Sage came back. She glanced over with a smile, seeing that he had brought the milk, cookies, and some whiskey for himself. Korren took a sip of chocolate milk, setting it down to curl up beside him. With her she had pulled the cookie box on to her side of the bed, grabbing two cookies. One she popped into her mouth, while the other she brought up to Sage's mouth, in hopes he would take it. The amount of whiskey he was drinking worried her. Even though she's seen him high before, she's never seen him drunk. Drunk people had all sorts of personalities, and she only hoped he'd be the same way he was when he was high: silly and fun.
She shrugged her shoulders at what he said about the bottle of whiskey, not wanting to make any comments on it. It made her feel bad that she had so much, while he had much less. Granted, he wasn't broke, but he wasn't rich like her family was either. Maybe someday she would help his family with funds, but for now she laid with him in comfort. She wrapped her arms around him, intertwining legs together by curling on leg around the other to close any distance left between them.

Sage took the cookie after a moment of thought, taking a casual bite out of it as he sat in his own comfortable silence. He took another drink from the bottle, feeling the slightest buzz beginning to set in. It burned the back of his throat but it was the good kind of burn, that made him feel alive and at home. How odd, that the feeling of whiskey gave him comfort. A few more minutes went by and Sage looked over at Korren, a deep pain in his eyes as the alcohol loosened his emotions. "I'm just like him," he whispered, his words almost inaudible as his hand rested on Korren's cheek. Here was this beautiful, innocent girl and then sitting entangled with her was Sage, a rough boy who had beat the shit out of countless people, who had drained so much happiness from the world.

It occurred to him then, that perhaps she had no idea what he was talking about, and he wrapped his arm around her and took another drink. "I'm just like Bucky." He closed his eyes to hide the tears. Just the realization- especially the drunk realization- made him lose his emotional grip as tears rolled down his cheeks. "I have the same temper- no, I have a worse temper. I'll hurt you. I don't wanna hurt you, but I'll hurt you because I hurt everybody- even Kilo, and he's been my best friend for years." A soft sob racked Sage's body and he took another swig though this time some of the whiskey trickled down his chin and onto his shirt. "I'm worse. I'm worse than Bucky," he spoke softly. "I don't want to be but I am." he couldn't say much more on the subject because his tears were occupying him. He didn't even know he was crying, but he knew what he was saying. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I just want to be good but I'm not. You don't deserve all those cuts, I do. I shouldn't even be alive, I'm so bad." He opened his eyes, looking down at Korren, moving to wipe the tears away though they still fell so rapidly. "I've done horrible things, things you can't even imagine. Things I wouldn't want to happen to my worst enemy but I did them and I... Korren, I slit my wrists once. Just once. Right after Rose got cancer. Winsley found me in the bath tub trying to bleed out and saved me. I wish she wouldn't have. I'm no good for you." He cried harder, setting the bottle down and hugging Korren close, momentarily forgetting about her injuries. "Oh no, I forgot!" He let her go quickly, remembering before she could make a sound of pain. "Damn it I'm so bad," He held his face in his hands, struggling to pull himself together. Throughout this he had only drank more and more Whiskey, and now the bottle was nearly gone.

Winnie smirked to herself as Kilo obviously watched her, adjusting her legs a bit, purposefully dragging them back and forth just to remind him they were so close before clicking start on the next round. Once again she got very into it, although this round went faster than the last one since Kilo was distracted. She smirked as she delivered the final blow in record time, before looking back over at Kilo. "Take it off, babe," she cooed, looking over him intently. She was fully prepared to watch, not caring much for his privacy. They were a... something now. A couple? Dating? Friends with make out benefits? Soulmates? People who said I' love you' too soon together? She wasn't completely sure but there was a serious conversation for a later time, and so she'd just enjoy her rare moment of pure, unadulterated fun for now, and leave the messy stuff up to later.

Korren looked up at him, confused by what he had said. Then, almost as if he read her mind, he further explained himself. The thought made her frown. She didn't say anything as he continued on, though looked painfully at him as he broke down. Her eyes turned to his wrists, seeing large marks in the place that he said he cut. Something inside of her stirred as he mentioned his suicide attempt, sending a tear to trickle down her cheek. Before he could see it she wiped it away, reaching for his hand. It did hurt when he pulled her closer, but it wasn't intentional in any way. She pulled the bottle away from him, setting it down on her night stand. Then, she reached up for his hand, gripping it tightly. "Sage," She began, looking at him with sorrow in her eyes. Immediately she felt horrible for ever comparing the two with each other, knowing all along that even though they both had tempers, they weren't alike. "You are not like Bucky. Don't you dare compare yourself to him." It was more of a command than anything, considering she knew Bucky first hand, and they weren't alike, not in the way he thought of it. "Don't you dare regret living. Without you, I would never have gotten away from him. I'm thankful of that, and of you." Korren pulled his hand down so his wrist was exposed, gently kissing it. She pulled herself closer to him, further closing any gaps. Even if she was in pain, she didn't want to show it. Now wasn't the time to be in pain. "You're better than Bucky, a million times better. If I saw someone hurting you, I'd be angry too," She spoke softly, trying her best to comfort him. There was nothing else she could do but love on him, show him her love, and spell it out the best she could.

"You know something you've earned that Bucky never had?" She smiled at him, waiting a beat before answering the question. "You've earned my trust, and my love." Korren moved to sit in his lap, placing her hands over his cheeks. Was she in pain? Yes. Did she care? No. Any excess tears she wiped away with her sleeve, moving to wipe away the whiskey on his chin as well. His breath smelled heavily of the alcoholic beverage, but she didn't care. She leaned in, wrapping her arms around his neck before kissing him gently. It was a long kiss, one that pressed a little more passion at a time, before pulling away at the minute mark. Her forehead settled against his, while she looked him in the eye. To further engrain the idea in his brain, she smiled and whispered to him. "I love you, Sage Vixen."

Kilo had been distracted by her legs the whole game, losing horribly to her. It was only fair that she cheated, but she did it in the worst way possible. At one point he had to move her legs off of his lap, as not to be teased any further. He sheepishly smiled at her, rolling his eyes when she told him to take off an article of clothing. The first piece he could think of was his shirt. He would have started with his necklace, but there was no way he was taking that off. It meant too much to him to take it off in a stripping game. He pulled it off casually, looking at her with a wink. Considering how comfortable he was without a shirt on anyway, this wasn't a problem for him. The only problem would be if it got to taking off his boxers, which made him slightly nervous. He returned to his focused position, making sure to keep her legs off of him. It wasn't that he didn't like her body, but it was that he loved the idea body and it caused his head to go in a whirl. Granted, he wouldn't do anything to her, but he wasn't too shy to looking if she so wished him to see her.

Sage hadn't kissed Korren back this time, or moved to wrap his arms around her. He felt worthless and undeserving. She was so amazing, flawed perfection, and she made his heart pound like nobody else could, but he wasn't good enough for her and he knew it, though her next words were sure to make him think twice. I love you, Sage Vixen. He rested his hands on her hips, looking into her ocean blue eyes and smiling weakly. He could be better for her, couldn't he? He wanted to be. He told himself he would start trying "There is one thing I know how to say in French. I think it sounds a lot prettier in that language," he began, before clearing his throat a bit. "Je t'aime," he whispered, before kissing her forehead and laying back, slowly moving her down with him so she rested on his chest. "Stay here, please. I like feeling you here, I like knowing I have you with me." It was perhaps Sage's most vulnerable moment as he gently wrapped his arms around Korren, needing her comfort as he closed his eyes. "Don't ever leave me, my love. Please don't ever leave me," he pleaded, even as he began to drift off.

Winnie pouted slightly as Kilo moved her legs away, though she didn't dwell on it and instead wolf-whistled as he peeled off his shirt, before crawling a bit forward to kiss him. "Can't wait to see your hot ass in only an apron. I expect a five star dinner, Honey," she cooed mockingly, kissing him once more deeply before immediately starting the next round. She didn't want to give him any warning- and made sure to catch him off guard, wanting to win this round quickly so she could get him in his birthday suit fast. It would probably be humiliating for him, but it made Winnie snicker. She knew Dalton wasn't getting home till late tonight since he was meeting with clients in a big case and talking strategy. Those meetings always took forever. He'd have to lock up the firm too. Winnie tried not to think about that though, and instead started spamming buttons on her controller to beat Kilo so she could get her dinner faster.

Korren smiled at him, nuzzling her nose against his. "Trés bien, very well." A small giggle fell from her mouth, loving to see him attempt to smile. It was a start. She laid down with him, holding her breath as the pain repeated on her abdomen on the way down. Before she fully rested, she grabbed the cookie box, pulling it next to them. She looked him in the eye when he spoke, her smile softening. "I will stay. I don't ever want to leave." Even as he drifted off, she spoke these few words, kissing him on the lips one last time. For a while she laid in his arms, every now and then carefully grabbing a cookie and nibbling on it. After at least a half an hour she drifted off in his arms, fully covering the both of them with the blanket.

Kilo chuckled at her reaction, kissing her back when she crawled over. "Oh really?" His eyebrow raised. Surely she wasn't actually going to go that far, but at this point he didn't feel like she was going to stop at boxers. That last kiss knocked him off of focus as he got into it, shifting to deepen the kiss. He was brought back to reality at the sound of the round starting after she pulled away again. Immediately after his character was slammed with attacks, with health quickly depleting before the round ended in his loss again. He groaned, though still was smiling. "Damn, you're too good at this." Kilo chuckled with a grin. The next piece of clothing he went for was his shoes and socks, deciding to be snarky about it. "You want to see me that bad, don't ya'?" He looked at her with a smirk and a raised eyebrow. Of course he didn't want to strip all the way, since he wasn't necessarily something he'd be proud of.

He scooted to be right next to her, smiling down at her. His eyes tried to stay on her face, since seeing her legs was too much of a distraction. He kissed her cheek, trailing kisses to her jawline and then up to her lips. No further would he go until he was sure that she wanted it, though pretended for now to be teasing her. He turned himself towards her, deepening the kiss slightly. This was more important than the game, and in a way he was reminding her of that without truly saying anything. After a few moments he pulled away, placing one last kiss on her cheek. "Ready to get my ass whooped again by my beautiful little warrior." He winked at her, moving to look back at the screen again. Was it too much to claim her as his? Probably, but he lost his cares when he looked at her. Such an amazing girl, undeserving of any kind of abuse or frustration let out on her. Speaking of that, he was reminded of Sage. Surely he would have to speak with him tomorrow or late tonight, either way they would need to figure things out once the dust has settled.

Winnie chuckled at his words, shaking her head and refusing to respond, though she didn't have to worry too much about that because soon Kilo had moved close to her, trailing kisses down her jawline. Winnie let out a small giggle and a content sigh, tilting her head slightly as he did this. She couldn't deny that she liked this, and after he kissed her cheek, Winnie rested her head on his shoulder, almost forgetting about the game until Kilo called her his little warrior. She couldn't help but giggle, kissing his cheek. "I'm glad I'm yours," she said quietly, taking his hand off the controller for a moment and squeezing gently. It was nice to have someone who actually cared about her and wouldn't leave her alone. She was getting tired of being alone. She moved to start the next round but then hesitated slightly. As competitive as she was, she didn't want to ruin the moment. Winnie looked back up at Kilo, carefully sliding into his lap and wrapping her arms around his neck. She smiled, nuzzling her nose against his. "You've made me happier just today than I've been in a really long time, and I think it's important you know that." She curled into his lap, relaxing against him for a moment, feeling at home against him.

Sage tended to have nightmares when he fell asleep drunk, and he twitched softly in his sleep as they overtook him. Most of them were of him hurting Korren, though somehow every nightmare would always travel back around to Rose dying. Sage woke up not long after he had fallen asleep. At first he was going to get up, but seeing Korren sleeping on him made him decide against it, and so for now he merely closed his eyes and resting, wrapping his arms around her as a headache began to throb against his skull.

Kilo smiled at her words, squeezing her hand in response. He moved his arms so she could move onto his lap easily. In doing this, he put down his controller, bringing all of his attention to her. His arms wrapped loosely around her waist while he nuzzled her back with his nose. Just by seeing her smile, he smiled wider, since the expression was rather infectious. To hear the words she spoke made his day better than it already was. He had made a change in her life, and made her genuinely happy. "That's extremely important, Winnie." Kilo confirmed, brushing his hand through her hair. "If you ever are feeling sad or lonely, just know good ol' Kilo's right here to help you, always." He kissed her forehead, before shifting to lay on the couch. This took him longer than normal, only because he had a fragile gem in his lap. He laid down fully on the couch, keeping his arms wrapped around her so she could move along with him. His head leaned up against a pillow, that way he could watch over Winnie. "How about this," Kilo whispered with a softness in his eyes. "In a bit, I'll cook that special dinner just for you. You can have anything you want. Then, we can finish up our few matches. Sound good, doll?" Again, he couldn't help but kiss the top of her head, wanting to serve her every need. Honestly, he wanted to just lay there with her, to sleep with her in his arms. This was the real world though, and they'd have to eat eventually, and fulfill their little game. It was the thought that counted, at least.

Korren woke shortly after he had moved his arms around her, fluttering her eyelids open. There was no light coming in from the window anymore, meaning that the day had come and gone. It didn't matter to her what time it was though, not now. She moved her arms to hug Sage, curling up under the sheets as she laid on top of him. Even if she opened her eyes, she couldn't see anything. She could only see the outline of his face from the moonlight. Pain had pinged on her stomach and arm bruises, which caused her expression to contort, and her brows to furrow. She took a deep breath, though tried her best to hide the pain from him. Nothing should ever kill this moment with him, not even her pain.

Just as she thought that, though, there were lights that flashed against the house, with an engine running until the sound was cut off. Doors were slammed shut outside. Her parents had come home. Korren's heart beat slightly picked up, though she only hoped that they wouldn't check up on her. The door to the house opened, and closed. Their chatter could be faintly heard from upstairs, though only muffled words were understandable through the closed door. "...worries... Perhaps she... We'll...contact that psychiatrist." Her mother was talking, setting down bags on the counter as they discussed among themselves about Korren, and their trip to the meeting. Her mother innocently gossiped about other women at the meeting, while her father was more focused on more of the business aspects. Her mother's voice was more upbeat and passionate, filling the house with her cheery tone, while her father was a little more reserved, though was not a quiet man by any means. He had a strong voice, built strictly for business.

Korren looked up at Sage, only hoping that he would see her motioning a signal. The signal was her pressing her index finger to her lips, as if to hush him. If her parents ever found out she was with anyone but Bucky, especially a street rat, they would not ever let her wander outside the house without one of the popular kids as her escort ever again. She would have to face them right now though, rather than them coming to her room. With that in mind, she carefully slid off of Sage, moving to stand again. The only hope for her was that Sage would not go with her, since her parents were too naive and stuck in their ways to understand why he was there in their house. To imagine that they would never let her see him again was horrifying to think of. Never again did she want to return to her hell of a life with Bucky ever again.

Winnie smiled and nodded, laying against him and closing her eyes. She kept her hand locked in his, feeling content and sleepy with him holding her. "That sounds perfect," she whispered, resting her free hand against his bare chest before tilting her head up to kiss him softly. The sound of the video game music drifted off into the background and Winnie deepened the kiss slightly, both hands moving up and tangling in his hair. It was so easy for her to get lost in Kilo, so lost in fact that there was no way she could hear the front door opening and the kiss got more and more passionate.

"What the hell?" A voice yelled, and Winnie yanked away from Kilo, sitting up quickly, panting slightly until she noticed Dalton. Her breath then caught in her throat and her eyes widened. "Dalton, this isn't-"

"Where the fuck is my gun?!" He snapped, his hands patting against his pockets only to find nothing. He scowled, walking towards them, and it was then he fully noticed the fact that Winnie wasn't wearing pants and Kilo was missing his shirt. "OH MY GOD!" He quickly turned away. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY DAUGHTER, I'M GOING TO SHOOT YOU DEAD, BOY!" Dalton yelled, and Winnie got off the couch, rushing to pull her skirt back on, trying to say something- anything, though she was lost for words, stumbling and stuttering and unable to breathe, feeling herself panicking. "D- Dalton, C- Calm down," Winnie stuttered. "Calm down? You're seventeen! What do you think you're doing? Winnie, you're grounded for life," Dalton snarled, and Winnie looked at Kilo, genuinely afraid in that moment for the both of them. Now that she had her skirt on, she rushed in front of Dalton, trying to tell him that they weren't doing anything, but Dalton spun on Kilo without a second thought, his hand clenching into a fist. Winnie squeezed her eyes closed, not wanting to see what was about to happen.

Sage heard some of the words her parents said as they came home and bit his lip, tightening his grip on her for a moment. He was scared of getting caught, but he was more scared for what her parents were suggesting. He knew now that Bucky was the reason her parents thought she needed help when truly Bucky was the one who needed a psychiatrist. He nodded once as she motioned for him not to make a sound, and his grip loosened on her as she pulled out of his arms. He sat up slowly, worried for his love in that moment, though he didn't follow. If her parents believed Bucky so easily then it probably wouldn't be smart for them to find a street rat in Korren's house. Sage got to his feet, grabbing the whiskey bottle and stumbling slightly as he walked into her bathroom to hide just in case. He looked around before sitting down in the closet, hoping he wouldn't get caught. The last thing he wanted to do was get Korren in trouble.

Kilo had gotten into the kiss, abruptly stopping when he heard a shout. His eyes widened, while he immediately sat up. He reached for his shirt, quickly putting it on before falling off of the couch with a thud. As the man continued to yell, he scrambled to try and say something. He kept his eyes on Dalton, not daring to look at his daughter at that point, which was as painful as it sounds. "I had no intention of that, sir, I swear on my life," His words stumbled out as he backed up, startled by Dalton's quick actions. Any punishment he would receive was completely justified, though it didn't sit well to see the murderous look that Dalton had in his eye. He gulped, though stood still. "We didn't do anything more than kiss- we played games and made up a challenge for the loser to take of clothing- fuck, this sounds bad." The last of his sentence, he mumbled nervously. For once his eyes shifted to Winnie, seeing her panic and close her eyes. "It's all my fault, sir. It was a stupid mistake, I deserve any sort of punishment given." He sputtered these words out, not wanting Winnie to suffer any of the consequences. If it meant taking a bullet for her, literally or figuratively, he would do it. Even though he was about to face this man, he stood his ground, facing it with what little dignity he had left in this moment. He kept his eyes open, not wanting to miss a single moment of it. It was what he deserved, after all. Winnie didn't deserve to take the blame, nor should she ever.

Korren watched as he stumbled in to the bathroom, standing up afterwards. A short gasp passed her lips, though she bit them to keep from making any more noise. She carefully walked to her clothing closet across from her bed, pulling it open to find a different sweater, a turtle neck sweater one for the winter. It was a light gray with the Harvard symbol printed on the front. The sleeves covered over her hands, only showing the tips of her fingers. She pulled her hair into a ponytail, moving to the bathroom to grab a ponytail to keep it in place. Before she exited, she whispered out to Sage. "I'll be back, I promise." She leaned heavily against the counter, knowing she would have to use all of her strength to pretend that everything was okay. With that she took a deep breath and exited the bathroom. Cautiously she walked down the stairs, smiling at her parents when they looked to see her.

"Oh, there's our lovely girl! How has school been today, hun? Learn anything new today?" Her mother chirped up, with a wine glass and wine in hand. Korren nodded, lying completely. "Great, it was great. Uhm, not really." She moved to sit down at the table, not wanting to stand for any longer. Her father was skeptical of her for a moment, though shrugged it off. "Oh, but of course. Our little peach is the smartest. You got that from your father, you know." Her mother winked, walking past her husband and sitting at the table with her. There was something they both knew, but decided to trip her up about it. Earlier they checked on her grades, seeing a dent in them that wasn't suppose to be there. Instead of having a one hundred in English, she had a 94. This was not something to usually happen. Besides, they were told by Bucky that she had been acting strange lately, and wasn't talking to him about it. "So, sweetie. Have you been on any dates with Bucky this week? Do anything special together?" Korren had a flash of panic, though it was not noticeable. "Uhm, no, momma. I've been studying a lot, lately for tests."

The conversation continued on, until her father looked through his liquor cabinet to find his whiskey was gone. "Honey, where's the whiskey?" He asked, raising an eyebrow at Korren. In response, her face went white. "Uhm, well, I was feeling sick and restless, so I used it to make a hot toddy." She looked down at the table, then back up at her father. Still his expression had not wavered from questioning his daughter. "I- I thought it was expired, it tasted bad. So I... threw it out." The answer to this conjured up story was a sigh, though he believed it for Korren to make such a mistake. In their eyes she may have been academically achieving, but she wasn't the smartest when it came to common sense. "Alright, we'll get more, sweetie. But don't do it again."

Korren sheepishly smiled, only hoping they would just go to bed. This wasn't the case, though. "Your mother and I are concerned, though. You haven't been talking to Bucky, have you?" She looked at him with a surprised expression, though at this point there was no avoiding the truth. Instead of continuously lying, she slowly nodded her head. Her father sighed, giving that glance at her mother that almost said 'you were right'. "We'll discuss this in the morning. I suggest we go see a psychiatrist. Distancing yourself isn't good, sweetheart. He's worried about you, you know. He loves you." No he doesn't. She almost replied, but bit her tongue. "We'll discuss this tomorrow afternoon, hun. We're gonna have a family meeting, and you can tell us what's wrong. For now, though, your mother and I are going to go relax in the hot tub. We love you, sweetie."
There was a pause before Korren spoke, faking a smile again. "Love you too." Internally she was panicking. Every time there was a family meeting, they always included Bucky. Her parents walked off, as clueless as ever, to get dressed and bathe in the outdoor hot tub. Thankfully they would be out of the way, but Sage and she would have to be extra careful. She stumbled to the stairs, each step feeling heavy as she climbed the stairs. A forlorn look was on her face, as she was not prepared for the family meeting to happen. It scared her to be seeing Bucky in her house, to know that he played the hero in front of her parents, undetected whenever he did something to Korren. She opened the door, shutting it behind her and locking the door. With that she wandered over to the bed, climbing on to it and curling up under the sheets. "You can come out now." She spoke up with a quiet tone, not bothering to move. Everything hurt again, just as bad as when she had gotten hit. The pain caused her to whimper, wanting to cry her eyes out. A tear fell down her cheek, while she bit her lip in attempt to drown out the pain.

Winnie's eyes opened as Kilo took the blame for everything. She was a bit shocked, that he was so willing to take the hit for her, knowing that it could cause any number of consequences, especially with Dalton who almost always threatened bullets to the head. Her jaw went slack and she struggled to even comprehend what had just happened. Before Bronze had become an alcoholic, even he wouldn't take the blame when she did something so incredibly stupid. She watched as Dalton raised his fist to punch Kilo, to put him in his place, and all at once she rushed into action. She couldn't let him get punished for something that was her fault. "Dalton, stop!" she snapped, running in front of Kilo and holding her arms out, a frantic look in her eye. Dalton hesitated, now that Winnie was in the way, and lowered his fist. "I'm not letting some rat come into my house and-"

"It was my idea, okay? It was all my idea. Dalton, I wanted to have a little fun, I wasn't trying to get pregnant or anything," Winnie insisted. Dalton twitched slightly, glaring down at Winnie, which only made her shrink back a bit, though as Dalton realized he was scaring her, he let out a deep sigh and shook his head. "Look Winnie, I'm well aware you can kick anybody's ass in video games, but I better not hear about you playing some strip game again," he hissed, deciding it was better to let this go. As much as he hated the situation he walked in on, he knew Winnie really needed Kilo and the fact that he was willing to take all the blame and all the punishment had to mean he cared about her. Dalton looked between the two for a moment. "And since you both are a couple now- which by the way is stupid enough considering you've only known each other for two days- I'm setting some ground rules." He cleared his throat, trying to think of them as Winnie leaned back against Kilo, sighing in relief.

"First off, any room you go in- doors are always open. Second off, Kilo's not allowed in this house if I'm not home." Dalton added. "But Dalton you have such weird-"

"I know I have weird hours, but I don't care. Sit in the front yard together if you want but he's not allowed inside- -or in the backyard, if I'm not here. Also, I have to meet your family to make sure that it'd even be okay for her to be at your house, Kilo, so tomorrow night your parents can come over for dinner. If I like them then Winnie, you can go to his house, too, but again only if there's a parent there."

"Dalton, I'm seventeen. I'm basically an adult. You can't just treat me like a kid." Winnie persisted. "Winnie, you can barely stay awake when you see your own shadow. As long as I have to worry about your panic attacks and everything else wrong with you, I'm treating you like a patient and you're going to deal with that," he growled, and Winnie closed her mouth and looked down. She wanted to be upset at how blunt Dalton was being, but she knew he was right. Winnie wasn't a very capable person on her own and even with Kilo around it wasn't always going to just be okay. "Also, you're grounded over the weekend. Which means you can't go out. I'm off Saturday though so if Kilo wants to come over he can, but grounded means no tv, no video games, no phone, so you guys really can't do anything fun anyways." Dalton shrugged and Winnie bit her lip. "Okay, my lecture's over. I'm assuming you're going to be making dinner, right? I expect something good." This was directed at Kilo, because whether he liked the situation he was stuck with or not, he did love Kilo's cooking.

Sage walked out of the bathroom after Korren called for him. He could tell she was in obvious pain, and he crawled onto the bed, kissing her gently. "Want some more medicine, love?" he asked, smoothing down her hair and sitting in a more comfortable position next to her as he did so. "Maybe a heating pad would help, too? I could get it for you if you have one around here," he offered, taking her hand in his and kissing her knuckles. "And then maybe we could talk about what just happened with your parents," he added, his voice quiet as to not alert them that he was there in the house as he continued placing light kisses on her hand, looking down at her with nothing but concern in his eyes. He loved Korren so much and he wanted to take care of her, to suck out all her pain and suffering and only leave her with happy thoughts and feelings. He knew that would be difficult but he was determined to succeed.

Kilo held his breath, fully prepared to be hit. Just as he was about to, Winnie stepped in front of him. He almost protested, almost told her to step aside. Surely he was the one that needed to take the blame, and yet she still stepped in. He held his tongue as they spoke, eyeing Dalton all the while. As the rules were laid out plain as day, he nodded in understanding. Even though Winnie leaned against him, he barely touched her. The only form of comfort he gave was placing his hand on her shoulder, making sure she knew that he still was there for her. Dread filled in his stomach for the punishments given to Winnie, and he bowed his head to look at her. Surely this would be painful for her, and since he'd have to go home he wouldn't be able to contact her. He rubbed her shoulder, trying to lighten the load that was thrown onto her. His attention was quickly turned to Dalton, though. It shocked him that he was expected to stay and make dinner. At first he questioned if this were a test or not, but he saw that Dalton was completely serious and intent on having dinner. This confused him, but he shrugged it off. If it meant he could stay, then he would do it. "Yes sir." He half-smiled at the man, brushing his hand over Winnie's shoulder before walking to the kitchen. It would have been too early to kiss her, but he would wait for it, for her.
He searched the pantry, looking for ingredients to put together that extra special dinner, one that would be much better than the simple stir fry. Finally he found all the ingredients, and decided to make his mother's famous quesadillas, pozole soup, sided with homemade guacamole and tortilla chips. Once the ingredients were gathered, he turned to look at Dalton and Winnie. "This might take a while." He spoke truthfully. If they wanted a good dinner, he was going to take his time making just that. Then, he got to work. At first he started on the tortilla chips and guacamole, since they would be appetizers. Making the tortilla chips took at least 20 minutes, with an extra minute of carefully sprinkling the right amount of salt onto them. After they were done, he began the guacamole, wanting it to be freshly made. Then, he set the appetizers out on the table for the two to consume before he could make the main course. For the next 30 minutes he would be working on both the soup and quesadillas, making sure they would be perfect.

Korren looked up at him, nodding her head. "Yes, please." She whispered, inhaling with a shaky breath. "It's in the bathroom closet." These were directions for the heating pad, since the thing would be extremely helpful at that point in time. She had a ghost of a smile, truly trying to be happy, but there was no point in forcing it. As he continued to kiss her hand, she closed her eyes, taking yet another shaky breath. "They're on the backyard patio, they'll be there for a while." Her voice didn't go above a whisper, feeling like if she spoke in a normal voice, they would hear her, even though they were outside. A tear fell down her cheek when she closed her eyes, fearful of tomorrow. She wanted this not to be her home or her family, or even her life. "They have good intentions... but they don't listen. They don't believe me, they don't want to believe me. I can't tell them the truth, they'll flip out." Korren stuttered through her words, clutching on to the covers. There was nothing she hated more than the family meetings. Each and every single one always ended horribly, with her opinions never truly being broadcast to be heard or discussed. Whenever she did try to speak up, she would always pay for it, even if her parents didn't believe her. Her lip quivered, while she slowly but surely began to shake. "I don't want to have a meeting. I don't want to go. Please don't let me go." She pleaded with a shaky voice, on the verge of crying. Every part of her feared the meeting. She felt like a little kid pleading not to go to school, as if she had a choice in the matter.

Winnie shook slightly as Kilo walked away from her, something Dalton noticed. He sighed, shaking his head. "You're going to get too clingy and scare him off," he said quietly, resting his hand on her shoulder. "Darling, I'm sure he cares about you but you need to be able to live without him always holding your hand." Dalton glanced up as Kilo said it might take awhile, and shrugged. "That's okay, kid, I don't mind," he said, before gently guiding Winnie to sit on the couch. She sat, looking up at the man who had been forced into being her father for the past four years. "I really don't mind you having a boyfriend, Winnie, if you can handle it, but I know for a fact you can't. I can't make you break up with him, but I can advise it." Winnie huffed, shaking her head at Dalton and crossing her arms over her chest. "I love him," she said simply. "You're only furthering my point. You can't love someone after a day of knowing them." With that, Dalton walked upstairs to change out of his suit and into more casual clothing, and Winnie let out a shaky breath before heading into the kitchen and sitting at the table just as Kilo set the chips and guacamole out. She took a chip, dipping it in, and taking a bite. It was amazing, though Dalton's words kept her from having the right kind of happy reaction about it. "I'm pretty clingy, you know," she said out of nowhere, looking at the bowl of chips instead of at Kilo. She was a little to used to looking down. "Like extremely, so if you can't deal with that you probably shouldn't be with me." She ate another chip, trying to crunch away the reality of Dalton's words.

Sage watched as the girl he loved broke down in front of him, and his heart broke for her, for everything she'd been through. "Hey, I'm not going to let anything bad happen to you," he promised, kissing her cheek. Sage quickly got the heating pad for her, plugging it in and gently resting it over her stomach, offering her half a pain pill this time, with her chocolate milk to drink it down. "I promise you, I swear to you, I'm going to keep you safe. You don't have to go to that meeting tomorrow, love. I'll take you far away from this place. Just me and you. We'll have a nice, relaxing day. Doesn't that sound good? We can go out wherever you want, drive for hours, not even look in the direction of this neighborhood." He leaned down and kissed her temple. "I'm always going to keep you safe, and if you're going to feel unsafe then there's no reason for you to be here tomorrow." He set the glass aside on the night stand, and laid down next to Korren, wrapping his arms around her and humming gently, hoping to calm her down so she wouldn't cry. It would break his heart even worse to see her cry- and especially if it was because of her family, the people who were supposed to make her feel safe.

Kilo had been working on the quesadillas, glancing back at Winnie when she entered the kitchen. He softly smiled at her, though she didn't seem okay. The thing that stopped him from working on the food was what she said. He put down what he was doing, walking over to crouch next to her. It was such an odd thing to admit, but she did it. He sighed, folding his hands together. The only way he was held up was by the balls of his feet, holding this position as he thought. Instead of telling her it was okay, he decided to share his flaws blatantly. "I internalize my emotions, every single one. I smoke, I drink, and I don't hold back in a fight when the people I love are put on the line. Not for one second do I hold back. I've done some regrettable shit." Now that his flaws were laid out plain as day, he took a deep breath, looking Winnie in the eye. With one hand he reached for hers, holding on gently as he spoke. "If you can't deal with me, I won't make you. I do want to be able to care for you though, Winnie. I may not be the best person, but I don't give up on those I care about. I want to help you, but only if you let me. I promised you that I would protect you. Nothing's gonna break that promise, doll." Kilo lightly smiled at her, placing a kiss on her forehead. He lightly squeezed her hand before letting go, moving to continue preparing the food. It wouldn't take him too long. Each little detail of the food was taken care of. Every now and then he glanced back at Winnie with a light-hearted smile, wanting to keep her happy. It made his day to see her smile, and broke his heart to see her upset.
After 20 more minutes, he finished the pozole soup and quesadillas. He pulled out two plates and bowls, each for Winnie and Dalton. Neatly he placed two quesadilla pieces on each plate, before pouring the soup into the bowls. He placed them out on the table when he was done, doing so neatly. After all, he was proud of the food. It filled the house with an aroma like no other, filled with spices and vegetables, as well as chicken. Not only was the food well prepared, but it was also healthy to a point. He grabbed his own plate and bowl. taking less than what he had given the both of them, since they both deserved the most. Besides, he already had eaten more pizza than he needed to earlier. Before he went home he'd have to go to the gym, but for now he didn't worry about it.

Korren clutched the heating pad against her stomach, taking the pill and some of the chocolate milk. She nodded to what he said, mouthing "okay" as she tried to calm herself down. Each breath was drawn out and shaky. Without realizing it she had been clutching her glass of milk to the point where her knuckles were white. She let go, letting Sage relieve her of the object. Immediately when he laid down next to her, she scooted closer, though kept her knees tucked up so that she was curled up into a ball. She clutched on to his shirt, holding on to the fabric. Her head placed against his chest as she laid there. The shaking was slowing to a stop, and over time she loosened up. Her legs pulled away from her chest, though she still stayed half-curled into a ball. She closed her eyes, though she couldn't sleep at that moment. Korren scooted closer until she was fully against Sage, with her arms wrapped around him. The heating pad and medicine eased her pain up as time went on, and she was beginning to relax. Her breathing began to regulate, though she felt horrible for the trouble she was putting him through. Apologizing would do no good, though she did want to do something to thank him, or at least apologize for all this horrible drama she was putting him through.

Winnie listened to his words, looking into his icy blue eyes, soaking in everything he said and nodding once, more to herself. Nothing he said or did could turn her away from him anymore. As he squeezed her hand she felt a little better about everything, though when he let go and walked away she just couldn't bring herself to say or do anything for the longest time. She tried to smile when he smiled at her though she was sure it didn't come off genuinely happy. "Nothing I haven't dealt with before," she finally said, after he had placed her food in front of her. Bronze holed up after their parents' death and had become an alcoholic. Of course she could handle that Kilo smoked and drank and didn't talk about his emotions. She lived down the hall from someone just like that, and dealt with it every day. But hearing all these things, she wondered if it'd be easy to be around those types of issues not only at home, but out of it. Winnie shook the thought off for now, though, not wanting to dwell on it. She let out a sigh, trying to think, to put her thoughts into some type of coherent sentence. "What if I told you you can't hang out with your friends anymore because I need you more than they want you? Doesn't that sound ridiculous?" She knew it did, but she also knew there were days before Bronze started drinking that she demanded he stay home with her. "After my parents' accident, football was the only thing that kept Bronze sane. I made him stay home for three games. He missed seven practices and nine days of school because I told him I'd have a panic attack if he left me and so he stayed. I made him really unhappy. Some of his alcoholism is my fault. I don't see how fighting for people you love is worse than fighting against what they need." She sighed, running her fingers through her hair. "I'm just warning you that I get to really bad points and if my own brother couldn't handle it then I don't see how you could."

A beat went by after she finished speaking and that was when Dalton walked in. He had a pair of sweatpants on and an old tee shirt with grease stains. He smiled at Winnie, who didn't smile back. Maybe he shouldn't have been so harsh on here, but it was too late to change his words now. He wondered if she had in fact broken up with Kilo, and that's why her eyes looked so dull and she only stared at her food instead of eating. Dalton took a chip and dipped it in some guac, smiling as he chewed. "This is really good, boy. Seems to be your most redeeming quality," he added jokingly, completely over what had happened a handful of minutes ago.

Sage held Korren in his arms, continuing to hum until the tune had run out. Then he tilted his head slightly and kissed the tip of Korren's nose. "Korren Csholm, I love you with all my heart," he whispered, thinking hearing this would help boost her morale a bit. "And I will happily take care of you, Harvard, because you are the cutest, smartest, most amazing girl in my life. You make me so happy, you know that?" He smiled, kissing her gently, his fingers resting on her sides. He wondered if laughing would hurt, if tickling would hurt, and so he opted not too. He kissed her again, instead, his hand resting on the small of her back while the other brushed through her deep red curls. He pulled back a bit, gasping for air obnoxiously. "Damn, you just took my breath away again," he said, trying to make her laugh, or at least smile.

Kilo frowned when he was turned away from her, at that one phrase that made him regret ever telling her his flaws in that moment. There was nothing he could say that could take back what he said though. It was the truth, as horrible as it was. He wasn't some hardcore drunk or druggie, but he did smoke and drink when given the chance. Then she asked that certain question, causing him to stop what he was doing, only for a moment though. He picked up his plate and bowl, carrying it over to the table, sitting across from her. Every word she spoke, he listened. He heeded the warning, yet all in the same he wanted to help her all the same, to help her get out of this cycle of panic attacks. "Winnie, you're going to get through this one way or another. I may not be able to be here every day, but I'll help every chance I get." He would have added more, but it didn't feel right. Purposefully he avoided her hypothetical question, since surely they both knew that wasn't possible. He'd have to help her with small steps, since her condition couldn't handle leaps by the look of it. The only time he looked away from her was when Dalton walked in, wearing the most casual outfit imaginable. "Thank you, sir, but the credit should really go to my mother for the recipe." His voice was quiet spoken, yet humbled. He picked up his spoon, digging in to the pozole soup, which by far was his favorite soup. Almost every week he would beg his mother to make it for him when he was a kid. Every time he would have to do three chores just for her to make it, but it was all worth it. He took a bite, eating at a casual pace. He was trying to think of what he could do to cheer up Winnie, though it seemed like there wasn't much that could cheer her up. The poor girl had taken all of the blame, and was heavily punished for it. Usually the silence was comforting for him during a meal, or anytime really, but this time it was... awkward, and rather out of place. It didn't feel right, especially when he couldn't just hold her in his arms and comfort her that way. Words were much more difficult and less helpful in his mind. The only way he was use to speaking was blatantly telling how things were, but with her he needed to be extra careful, though still tell how it was in a simplified way. He didn't mind doing so, but it was just difficult to do.

Korren listened as he hummed, nuzzling her head against his chest once to get into a more comfortable position. She had closed her eyes up until her nose was kissed, causing her to open them again. A small smile peaked on her lips, though it was discreet. Blush coated her cheeks as he showered her with compliments, leaving her to avert her gaze momentarily, before looking back up again into his eyes, his dark brown eyes, the ones she fell in love with. Nothing but love was given to her through words and gentle kiss, which she in turn gave back to him. She smiled almost as brightly as usual, though not as brightly. By the touch of her sides, she slightly jolted from the light touch on her sides. A faint giggle fell from her before being greeted with another kiss, which she had sunk into up until he pulled back. The sudden gasp made her jump with worry in her eyes, before she soon realized it was a joke. She half-smile, quietly whining to him about the spook. "You scared me," Korren said with her smile spreading, helplessly giggling afterwards. In the midst of her giggling, she lightly slapped at his chest, with no intent of ever hurting him, if she could ever even do such a thing.
She was growing tired, though didn't want to sleep at that point. Two reasons accounted for this: One, because of her parents being awake. Two, because she was enjoying her time with Sage. She leaned up, brushing her lips against his for a moment, though hadn't gone in just yet. Korren lingered there for the longest time, giggling slightly as she stuck there. Not once did she go in, wanting to see what he would do about it. Her cheeks reddened while she waited, pent up with slightly nervous energy, the good kind. The kind that made your stomach flutter around a crush and skip a beat when your lover smiled at you. "I love you." She whispered, helplessly repeating this phrase, even though she already said it earlier. Still she lingered, playfully and innocently teasing him with the one thing that they both loved that was right there in front of them, yet Korren didn't act upon it just yet.

Winnie stared down at her food for a long time, before looking up at Dalton. They met eyes and Dalton watched as tears swam in Winnie's deep purple orbs. He knew then he shouldn't have told her to break up with him. It was miscalculation on her his part that only hurt her. "I'm... I'm not that hungry," she said weakly, before pushing out her chair and getting to her feet. "Winnie, Darling, wait," Dalton said, getting to his feet as well, though she had already rushed off. Dalton sighed, falling into his chair and slouching heavily. He looked over at Kilo, shaking his head slightly. "This is my fault. She's not stable enough for a relationship, Kilo, and I advised her that it wasn't a good idea but... but God, she looked so heartbroken." He ran his fingers through his hair, resting his elbows on the table. "She needs to be healthy before she can be in love, you understand that, don't you?" He looked over at Kilo. "It's like telling an anorexic girl she's beautiful just the way she is, and so she keeps starving herself because she takes it the wrong way. " He looked up towards Winnie's room, towards where she would be over thinking and crying and hating herself because Winnie did self-pity like no other could, but her life was so tragic how could he blame her? "Think you could go cheer her up a bit?" Dalton asked. "And take Winnie her food, please. I know she's hungry. The girl eats like a starving dog." He nodded towards Winnie's food, hoping Kilo would take him up on the offer.

Sage melted into Korren, chuckling as she claimed he scared her, getting lost in the feeling of her lips just barely brushed up against his own. He felt heat stir within him the longer they stayed like, and his breathing grew thick with his own desire as he waited it out, expecting her to do something about it. When she didn't, his feel grew red faintly, as if blushing from the teasing. She told him she loved him, and Sage felt his emotions and his feelings collide. "Je t'aime," he said back quiety, before connecting their lips in a deep and loving kiss. He pulled her closer against him, feeling himself losing his sanity and control little by little, as if he was holding onto a rope but the weight on the other end was causing it to slip through his fingers. He carefully pushed her onto her back, hovering over her as he placed his hands on either side of Korren. He knew she was in pain, and he knew he couldn't do much else, and so his grip on the rope tightened as he began to trail kisses down her neck, and he opted not to go any further, because she was so important to him, and the last thing he wanted to do was cause her pain. She'd been through enough pain.

Kilo had been eating, stopping when Winnie finally spoke up. His heart shattered when she had rushed off, watching in utter regret. He completely paused from the meal, the pit of his stomach dropping. By that point he lost his appetite, unsure of what to do. He looked at Dalton, nodding his head to his words. Yes, he understood, but it didn't settle right in his stomach. There was no way he could show her that she loved her, not without causing problems. He grabbed her food, nodding his head. "I'll do what I can, sir." His voice was quiet, solemn. It humbled him to truly realize the extend of her condition. The more he treated her like any other girlfriend, the worse she was off, and yet if he left her she would be just as bad. Kilo paused at steps, looking at Dalton once, before looking up the steps. From there he took a deep breath, climbing the stairs casually. Every step felt as if gravity was dragging his feet down. Majorly he had screwed up, to make her think that she was in love with him. How could he do that to her? It was just as bad as lying, even though he didn't know what he was doing was wrong.

He shifted the bowl to balance on the plate, holding them under one arm as not for it to collapse and leave a stain on the carpet. After a moment, he knocked lightly on the door. "Winnie?" There was a pause before he calmly spoke up again. "I have delicious Mexican food for you, authentically made from Pedro himself." He tried to crack a joke, hoping it would lighten the mood. If it worked, what would he tell her? What could he say? Could he just hold her, or would that be taken wrong? Caution was something he usually never came across, so he wasn't sure what to do.

Korren giggled as he repeated the french phrase, followed up with a deep kiss. This didn't really surprise her, though it did shock her with the insistence. It wasn't forceful, though. It was loving, with no intent on forcing her to do anything. She smiled in between kisses, wrapping her arms around his neck when she was pulled against him. Before long she was pressed on to her back, deepening the kiss a little bit more. It was infectious, and she couldn't help but continue on. She had short and quick breaths when he pulled away, moving to trail kisses down her neck. In response she giggled slightly, though had not held back a singular suggestive sound, though it was rather quiet. Not one bit of her was proud of it, but she couldn't help it that time, since he had caught her completely off guard. Her cheeks immediately flushed as she bit her lip, but she still liked what he was doing. Just barely she tilted her head, with no real control over her actions. Her heart was beating a mile a minute, unsure of whether to stop or not. It would be for the better if it ended, though. Out of nervousness, she had giggled at times, though the final time she had, it ended with an "ow". By that point she tapped his arm, trying her best to let him know it was time to stop while words had failed her. Her face had looked like a tomato at that point, a little overwhelmed by the moment.

had rushed into her room and slammed the door shut, locking it as tears started to fall. She wasn't even sure why she was crying but still those tears came. She sighed, walking over to her closet and changing into her leggings and one of her brother's tee shirts. They were always so big on her, since he was six foot four inches of muscle, and she was a whole foot shorter and much scrawnier. She trudged over to her bed and sat on it, staring at the wall as she cried and trying to think of what her reason for running off was. She didn't have one. She just couldn't handle the atmosphere, but was that even a reason? Winnie laid back, closing her eyes, hearing her stomach growl as she laid in silence. She normally didn't mind the silence but now she couldn't stand it.

It was when she was building to a point she thought she would scream that there was a knock on her door, and Kilo asked to come in, making a joke that dragged the smallest of smile onto her face before it fell all over again. She slowly pushed herself up into a sitting position, not saying anything. After a moment she stood, walking over to the door and unlocking it, thinking for a moment as she wiped her tears away and yet the evidence still stained her face as she opened the door. Winnie looked up at Kilo, and felt herself breaking all over again. "I'm sorry," she said quietly. "I'm sorry I'm so over dramatic. Dalton just made me think in a way I didn't want to and I got scared and I... I'm sorry, Kilo." She looked down at the ground, wondering if he would accept it or get mad or throw something or just leave her. She bit her lip, waiting for whatever reaction he would have.

Sage had smirked to himself at how easily he made her melt, and was a bit excited about maybe pushing things just a little further, but then heard that small ow and he immediately pulled back, further moving back to her side as she tapped him. "Sorry," he mumbled, moving to make himself a bit more comfortable next to her as he took her hand in his and kissed her palm to apologize. He looked over into her deep blue eyes, truly feeling bad. He hadn't meant to cause her pain. He had gotten too stuck in the moment. He should have paid more attention, but he wasn't going to dwell on that right now. He leaned forward and kissed her tenderly, his hand resting on her cheek before he pulled back. "I love you, Korren Csholm," he said with a small smile, excited to say the words to her. He'd never get tired of it.

Kilo waited outside her door patiently, unsure of whether she would come out or not. After a few minutes she finally came out, with reddened eyes and tear stained face. She looked terrible, and probably felt the same way. All at once she began apologizing. He put down the plate and bowl on the floor. When he looked back at her, his eyes softened. "Hey," He spoke quietly, placing his index finger and thumb under her chin, slightly tilting up her head in a gentle way. "It's alright, Winnie." Kilo smiled at her, trying his best to cheer her up. What else could he say that was comforting? The only thing he could think of was empathetic, so he had to try it. "You're having a hard time right now, and that's okay. Rome wasn't built in a day, you know. Romans worked long and hard, but they never gave up. They made a beautiful city in time." He held that warm smile as he looked down at her, looking down at her eyes, which compared to that of a water color painting, abstract and holding worlds of wonder in them. This was the best way he could think of comforting her, since he truly just wanted to see that beautiful smile. Things would get better, and she needed to count on this. "Do you want to eat downstairs, doll?" He soon asked, truly wondering about it. "I can carry you," He paused for a moment, turning to look down the stairs. His voice raised, just enough so that Dalton would hear him, but he wasn't shouting. "That is, if Mr. Clifton is okay with me carrying his daughter?" It was clearly a question directed at her father, wanting not to cross any boundaries that shouldn't be crossed. It was enough that he had been so dumb earlier when they had been walked in on practically making out, so he felt as if any move or gesture he made towards Winnie would be stepping over the line.

Korren smiled when he pulled back, feeling bad about having to stop it all. "It's okay, I just laughing a little too much. You're too silly." It was a light hearted compliment, even though it might have been out of place. That didn't matter when she had to confirm that it wasn't him that hurt her. From early it felt needed, since he had been so upset over it. Not once did she want him to feel like things were his fault. She smiled when he kissed the palm of her hand, chuckling a little since it tickled. In returned she kissed him back, while her smile widened through every bit of it. Since he spoke in English, she traded off to speak in French. Her accent was fluent, almost as if it were her native language. "Je t'adore, Sage Vixen." With his name, she pronounced it in an obnoxious way, pronouncing it as 'Sahj- Veek-seen'. When she was done talking, she stuck her tongue out playfully, looking into his eyes. They were sharp, intimidating yet focused. With her though, they were inviting, softening as she looked at him. It threw her off, caused her to loose her train of thought. She sighed without even realizing it, smiling all the while. There was nothing but admiration for the boy in front of her. No matter how rough and tumble he was, she saw through it all. She leaned in and kissed him, wrapping her arms around his neck. It was slow and concise, calculating each movement. Not once did she pull away, but she didn't push it farther than it needed to be either. This was her favorite thing to do, after all. This display of affection, the one she rarely had gotten until she met Sage. With Sage it wasn't ever forced or used to manipulate, but rather show that they truly were in love. She scooted a little closer, tangling her legs with his, folding them together as she laid there with him, showing nothing but love to him. Thankfully her parents would be outside in the hot tub for hours, so they had some time alone.

Winnie nodded slowly as Kilo asked about her eating downstairs, and found herself taking a step forward to hug him, her arms wrapping around his waist and squeezing gently as he called out to Dalton to make sure it was okay for him to carry her. "I don't care, just don't have sex!" Dalton yelled back, and Winnie giggled quietly, cuddling up against Kilo. "I wanna make you happy, Kilo." She took a shaky breath. "I'm really scared I won't be able to do that," Winnie admitted, closing her eyes. She definitely wanted to be carried. She felt weak and exhausted from her own mental struggles. Dalton's words brushed in and out of her mind like the tide, going in and out, soaking the sand and leaving the smallest memory of its existence before rushing back in. Maybe she couldn't handle a relationship right now, but she really did love Kilo, and she wanted to be able to handle him because he meant the world to her. He actually took care of her and made her smile unlike the rest of the world, and she never wanted to lose that, though Dalton's words made her think she would.

Sage smiled as Korren spoke that beautiful phrase in French, chuckling at the way she said his name. He wasn't exactly sure what it meant but he figured it had something to do with another way to say she loved him. As her lips brushed against his, Sage met the kiss with the same gently touch she offered, his hand resting on her cheek, thumb brushing over her cheekbone as he fell into the sweetness of the kiss, never once trying to push it. He liked this, even if he didn't come off as the gentle kind of guy. He appreciated it, and all the meaning it could give. It took him quite a long time just to make the decision to pull away, but once he had he smiled at Korren, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her a bit closer. "You know what I think we should do tomorrow, Harvard? Get some ice cream, go see a movie, pig out on some burgers, really let loose," he said jokingly, nuzzling his nose against hers.

Kilo smiled down at Winnie, chuckling quietly as she did. "Yes sir," He responded, confirming what he probably figured they wouldn't do anyway. Loosely he wrapped his arms around her, smiling as he hugged her. What she told him made his smile falter, only for a moment though. Instead of directly responding in a cheesy line, he ran a hand through her hair, speaking in a quiet tone. "Winnie, all you have to do is smile. It makes my day to see you happy." Sure, it sounded dumb, but it was true. "We're gonna take baby steps now though, okay? I want to get to know more of that beautiful mind." This didn't mean he was breaking up with her, if they were truly together in the first place. It only meant that they would take it slow, give it time. "C'mere, I got you." He spoke while he moved to lift her up, holding her up by hooking his arm under her legs, while keeping his hand on her back. Before they went anywhere, he dipped down, shifting her in his arms to grab the plate and bowl. "Hold this, okay?" Once he was sure she had her dinner in hand, he lifted her back up with a grunt and carried her carefully down the steps, wanting to take his time with his precious cargo. Once they were downstairs, he carried her over to the table, shifting so he sat her down in her seat. He smiled at her, ruffling her hair once she was sat down. "Young lady, your gonna eat every last bit of your food before you leave this table. No ifs or buts!" While he spoke he shook his finger at her, grinning all the while just to make sure she knew he was joking. Kilo winked at her, wanting her to smile. Even if Dalton was there, he wanted to be comfortable and make sure she was comfortable. It was an honor to even still be in the house after the major screw up, and since Dalton seemed to move on from what happened, he decided to let it go as well.

Korren brushed her hand over his cheek during the kiss, keeping her eyes closed all the while. Slowly she had pulled away when he did, smiling brightly all the while. She kept her eyes locked with his even as she was pulled closer. Her hands moved up to his hair, playing with it while he talked. There was a certain addiction to playing with his hair, since it was soft and yet spiky at the same time. She combed her fingers through it as she processed his words, pondering them. "Hmm, let me check my schedule." Korren tapped a finger on her lips, looking up at the ceiling to authenticate the joke. Of course she had nothing to do, and so she smiled in the end. "Looks like I'm free, Greaser." She winked at him, returning to play with his hair. Part of her was playing with his hair just because it was so soft, but another smaller part wondered if he would react the same way he had at the beach. It was a little test, but if it was a constant result from playing with his hair, it would be interesting to retain such information about him. Korren sighed, smiling as she looked at him. She wanted to tell him again that she loved him, though felt at this point that it was repetitive.

Winnie held onto the food as Kilo carried her, kissing his chin as they headed down the stairs. When he set her down in her seat, Winnie set her food down on the table, giggling at Kilo as he told her to eat her food. "Yes, sir," she purred, before finally taking a bite of her food, smiling at Kilo as she did so. It tasted like heaven. Dalton watched the two interact, a small smile on his face that he quickly tried to hide. He was glad Kilo had made Winnie laugh and smile so soon after one of her little break downs. It was assuring, in a way, to know she had someone in her life with that type of capability. She certainly deserved to smile. Dalton casually continued to eat his dinner- the best one he'd had in years, watching Winnie as she continued to glance over at Kilo, obviously happy with his presence.

Winnie tapped her foot against Kilo's under the table, hooking their ankles together so she would still be able to have some type of contact with him, and glanced over, smiling at him as she did so. She wasn't much for slowing anything down, but she wouldn't trying to speed it up anymore if Kilo didn't want that, which he didn't seem to. It flustered her a bit, to think he wanted to slow down, but she tried not to dwell on it. He hadn't broken up with her, he hadn't cut her off, he just wanted to know more about her- but what if once he knew even more that what he did he was scared off? It made her smile falter, though this time she tried not to show it. "This is really good, Kilo. I could eat your cooking every day," she said brightly.

Sage let out a quiet moan as Korren's fingers ran through his hair. He closed his eyes, relaxing against her touch, leaning into it even. His fingers curled into a fist against the blankets, and a small shudder ran through his spine. As she continued to play with his hair after pretending to check her schedule, Sage finally opened his eyes, gently grabbing her wrists and moving her hands away. "Listen up, cute little Cherry Pop, I can't have you keep doing that," he told her, his voice a bit weak as he tried to sound like he was joking even though he obviously wasn't. He kissed the back of both hands, before resting them on the bed as he smiled at her. "Don't get me wrong, it's nice, but it's also a bit overwhelming. I'm still a little drunk," he told her, wanting her to keep that in mind. It was supposed to dull the senses but for some reason it only sharpened them. He kissed her forehead, trying to let himself calm down.

Kilo chuckled, taking a large bite into his quesadilla. He felt her foot tapping against his, and in turn he hooked his foot with hers, moving his foot up against her leg occasionally, as if to comfort her. While he ate, he sent small glances to her, smiling between chewing his food. She spoke up, and complimented the food. He smiled, speaking when he swallowed his food. At first he raised a brow, but still smiled at her. "You'd be eating a lot of Hispanic dishes, but okay. I'll be happy to serve." He shrugged, chuckling to himself before continuing to eat. It didn't take long to eat, since he had less food than the both of them.

When he was done, he took his dishes and cleaned them off in the sink, making sure to set them in the empty dishwasher. There was no way he was going to spare any trouble of leaving out dishes for them to clean, especially since he had cooked the food. While he was over there, he put all the ingredients left that he had pulled out in the first place away, leaving nothing to waist. Any extra vegetables he left in bowls, making sure to wrap them with clear wrap, since he was use to doing this. The rule in his home was to never let anything go to waist, since food was so expensive these days.

The thought of money popped in his mind, and when he was turned away from the two, he frowned. The extra hours that he could have worked the other day could have greatly helped. Even though he had left work for a good cause, it was painful to know part of his paycheck would be taken off. He refused to show his worry though in front of them, and set a neutral expression before he turned back to sit down. He returned to his seat, moving his leg to hook back with hers again, though his hands were stuffed in his pockets. Casually he ran a hand through his hair, letting out a breath. Just by looking at Winnie though, he smiled again. There was a content silence, one that filled the room and settled ever so casually over them. He was never really one for conversation, so he wasn't sure whether it would have been right to speak or just let them talk. At the moment he couldn't help but think about his financial situation, which held him in silence. The single thought made him want a joint to calm his nerves, to drown out any strong emotion he truly felt about the predicament. None of his friends were with him, though, and he surely keep any joints on hand.

Korren blushed at the sound he made, complying once he had grabbed her wrists. She folded her lips together, embarrassed and shocked by the reaction he had to such a simple gesture. She awkwardly chuckled, though she knew he wasn't joking. It wasn't bad that he had reacted that way, it had just surprised her. While her lips were folded, she slowly nodded in understanding, moving to brush her hair behind her ear. She had made a mistake and she knew it, taking a mental note for any time she would try to mess with his hair. In a minor way it disappointed her, since she did enjoy casually messing with his hair. It was soft and felt nice, though perhaps it would be best to save for when she was ready for intimate relations, which probably wouldn't be for a long time. "Sorry," She whispered, shrugging to herself, still red as ever, her face radiated heat from being so embarrassed, though she tried to get her mind off of it. In order to do that she reached for the cookies, grabbing a couple and nibbling on them. Eventually she scooted closer to him without looking him in the eye, still nibbling on cookies. Crumbs fell on the bed and on to her sweater, but that didn't matter.
