The world was tilting, ugh, knockout aftereffects were never fun. Not to mention the persistent headache that tugged at the front of his head. Oh well, better dizzy than dead, he supposed.

He heard Daniel apologize for hurting him, but it took a second for it to register. Why should he have to apologize? He helped him more than anything else.
Dax shrugged, trying to signal that he was fine. A second passed before he realized that could be taken the wrong way, so he gave a halfhearted thumbs up to try to get the message across.

Thank goodness, Lena thought as Hitomi collapsed into her. It didn't require any further acting to take a staggering step back and clumsily catch the other girl by her shoulders once more, easing her down to the floor. At least Hitomi wouldn't hit her head a second time now. Lena felt most of her tension drain away and be replaced with a tiredness disproportional to her physical exertion.

"Good job, and thanks," she whispered as she knelt down beside Hitomi, her voice back to her usual, more casual tone. "'Wake up' whenever you want now, but it would probably be best if you pretend you're still dizzy for a few minutes at least." During these pointers, she again shook Hitomi's shoulders softly, then sat back with a shrug and stroked the same strands of hair that had already annoyed her earlier back out of her face. This had arguably gone fairly well, and Hitomi had played her part in their little cheating perfectly. The only concern Lena had left was that if any of the nurses came by, hopefully they wouldn't question the lack of a more severe head injury to go with this 'unconsciousness' too closely.

Hearing her say that made him saddened. The memory of his best friend came back into his mind To be fair, many here probably had similar stories, and it worsened each day. "I guess this gentleman is in a better place by now." So, there it is. She probably had no one backing her up for the past few weeks, month, or even years. Just thinking about this made him feel she was more stronger than she seems like despite her goodness.

Unfortunately, he saw the shadows way too late. His eyes wide opened when they started pushing her. It was like the whole world stop a few seconds, the apple knocking There was a gun in his pocket with a few bullets left, but it was way too late to try something reckless as they were holding Emmaline hostage. With a shivering breath, his hand reached his pocket and brushed his gun, but... Using this right now wouldn't make him any better than them, and her life was at stake. Fueled by hatred, he stared at them. "Let her go you..." Seriously, he had to contain his rage and couldn't do nothing. He may be skinny, he was still a street fighter. Sort of. It was tense, really tense. One wrong move and she could be heavily hurt. The feeling of hopelessness was all too familiar, and there was no way he was going to run away. Thankfully, a man and a woman appeared, directed toward the bad guy apparently named Rey. He tilted his head, was he really trying to give a speech to them? Honorable, still the result wasn't surprising as a knife went toward them. Stuff got pretty awful in such a short time, and too many things were going on right now. But the newcomers looks like they knew each other really well and were close.

After she dismissed her cape, he shook his head and looked away. There was so many things he wanted to ask, nevertheless Rey's thigh was apparently done for with the knife returning back to them. When the girl succeeds in freeing Emmaline, Veneth took the opportunity by kicking him even further away in his already injured thigh and grabbed Emmaline's arm and put her safe behind him. "It's ok, I got you!" Frankly, he felt like he had no other choices, and going straight into them was probably a bad idea but he couldn't let her go, not after he knew she was targeted by the facility. Running away was not a solution with her state, and they were stuck from both sides. He grabbed a knife from his pocket and took a few steps back while using his free arm to back up Emmaline alongside him. He was seemingly close to the thugs. After glancing behind at the woman, he felt like something really bad was going to happen with the woman with the tone of her voice, looking for violence. He could only pray they were some sort of vigilante. He used his powers on the thugs. It wasn't much, but it gave them more chance to escape this alive and free. "Looks like you're popular, princess." He said to Emmaline while trying to step back even further. He was armed and ready to strike back at any thugs, despite a sweat drop falling down. They were more and all armed.
 
Dizziness was the one state Hitomi didn't need to feign. A few moments passed before she opened her eyes and sat up. There was little more to do than wait around for now and there wasn't anything particularly wrong with that. To venture outside of the facility was to risk a lot. She resisted the urge to snicker at the entire ordeal. Sure, threatening someone else with harm had worked in this situation, but what about out there? Perhaps it was the impact of the wall, but she was pretty certain that threats weren't the best motivators as far as cooperation went. For all their threats, for all their torture and for all their superiority, all Kace Milo and the others had gotten were tickets to a show directed by Lena Daubney.

Rowan watched the poor guy groggily walk off. Even if he didn't really know him he'd seemed like a good person. And they had come in together after all, he couldn't help but worry a bit. 'I still haven't learned his name though. Or heard him speak for that matter.' He shook his head, he could worry about that later. Right now he had a fight to focus on. If his hunch about his opponent was right, he'd have to be sure to make the first move or things would go downhill quickly.

Putting several steps between himself and Kkachi, Rowan turned to face his opponent. "Let me know when you're ready."

Daniel scoffs dissmissing his quirkiness. He didn't mind the silence between them. In fact encouraged it. After such a heart wrenching battle, he is certain the teen must feel relieved to be alive in one piece. Speaking of being in one piece, Amber eyes search for that scar faced, old man capturing him comforting or so he assumed that same blonde lad. His conclusion: Adrian being Benji's soft spot/ ally.

Lena took to surveying the room now that her own fight was over. Some small part of her still worried about her deception coming to light, but that was just her still too-fresh bad experience speaking. If Hitomi really wanted her found out, it would have made more sense for her to beat Lena and get her into trouble afterwards. From her experience, people would always seek to maximize their own benefit, with very few, very petty, very unreasonable ones being the only exception to that.

Serenity and Adrian seemed to have finished as well, though both seemed fairly downtrodden. Benjamin was talking to them, Lena noted, probably trying to cheer them up. She couldn't fault the two for feeling that way - while she wasn't sure how close they really were, fighting someone you got along with well with the intent to hurt them was never fun.

The boy who had fought Benjamin in the cafeteria before had beaten his far shorter opponent, who seemed in pretty bad shape now, with several burn marks covering his body as he leaned against the wall for support. Lena still didn't know which one of them was Daniel and which one Dax, but the fact that the tall boy had obviously some fire-related power made her glad she had been paired with someone who had a not directly offensive ability like herself.

The last two youths in the room were still only getting started, positioning themselves some distance across each other. Rowan and Kkachi, though again Lena couldn't match the names to the faces. She thought she might have seen one of them earlier in the cafeteria, though. In any case, Lena couldn't help but find it a tiny bit troubling they hadn't begun their fight yet - even though it couldn't have been more than a minute or two since they had received the order, if Milo viewed that as dawdling or reluctance, it wouldn't spell anything good.

She snapped out of her thoughts - not that anyone else's hesitation was hers to mind, anyway - when she noticed Hitomi first stirring, then sitting up. "Are you alright?" Lena asked, hoping her voice was level enough and her smile not too broad to be an reasonable reaction. The one problem with lies and the like was that you had to keep them up until they became irrelevant or everyone had forgotten you told them - which could be sometimes be a long time indeed.

Dax smiled wanly at Daniel’s scoff. At least he wasn’t asking why he didn’t speak. There was no doubt in his mind that he was going to have to answer that question eventually, but for now he could relax. Or, at least attempt to.
His mind kept imagining the way his arm was bent when he woke up, twisted at an awkward angle that wasn’t natural. His fingers slightly pointed toward his palm, like an inhuman claw. He could almost feel it right now...

Nope! Not thinking about that right now! Especially not just because of a dream. Dax steered his mind away from the image, distracting himself with scanning the room, which had, thankfully, stopped tilting. The headache lingered, but it was barely noticable.

The next pair was squaring up, a pale guy who was about the same size as his opponent, and Rowan, but he decided not to focus on the soon-to-begin fight, instead choosing to glance at some of the others who had finished. Three people were huddled in a corner, a blonde guy being brought into a hug by the one who got shocked, who was, if he remembered correctly, Benjamin, and the blonde one’s opponent sat beside them. He hoped they were okay, their fight was pretty intense.
Nearby, two girls were sitting together. One was waking up from seemingly being knocked out, and the other was checking to see if she was okay. He hadn’t payed much attention to their fight, but assumed it couldn’t have been very flashy, considering he never heard much from their side of the room. Granted, shooting of soundblasts made him a bit deaf to the rest of the world.

It didn’t help much. When he turned to glance forward again, he paused, thinking for a second that his arm was once again rendered completely useless, but it was fine. He was fine.
He still scratched his arm subconsciously, just to make sure.

Kkachi angled his body and danced on the balls of his feet, holding his fists in a loose guard at about chin height. Invisible to the naked eye, misfortune manifested around Kkachi's hands, a single touch would stick to the receiver's body like a leech and alter their chances of success, in everything they did, for the worse, only disappearing once the misfortune ran out. The only indication of this manifestation was kkachi's irises shifting from their usual brown color to a dark purple, bordering black.

"Come at me", he mocked to his opponent and potential ally, "Show me what you've got".

Rowan smiled, quite ready to respond to the taunt. He positioned himself facing Kkachi, his muscles tensed, his face serious, his gaze sharp. One second of silence passed. Two seconds. Three.

Rowan charged. Before he'd even finished his first step, a haze of green light exploded out of him, instantly covering the entire sparing arena. Full Sprint Rowan went for Kkachi, closing the short distance in just over a second. His fist raised, the ring glinting, Rowan brought down a swift first strike. Except, just as physical contact was about to be made, Rowan exploded. It hadn't been Rowan at all, but an apparition without substance or mass. The Rowan-illusion broke into over a hundred wisps, each their own distinct color and roughly the size of a fist, following and swirling Kkachi's body at every angle. Reds, greens, blues, purples, pinks, teals, tans, limes, violets, yellows, Maroons, browns, oranges, turquoises, Magentas, and every color in between surrounded Kkachi in a maelstrom of color. Ever shifting and infinitely moving. Sometimes the wisps came close, sometimes they circled a few feet away. Over a hundred flying lights dancing through the air with a whirlwind's ferocity.

And beyond this maelstrom 6 figures appeared, simultaneously and from apparent nothingness. Each bore Rowan's appearance, each one as solid looking as the real thing. In their hands they wielded a bladed weapon. Some an Axe, some a sword, but each weapon had a blade of red light and a handle of yellow. If it was possible to detect through the maelstrom of flying colors that surrounded Kkachi, the yellow handles glowed brighter than the red blades which was surrounded in a heat haze.

The real Rowan, meanwhile, was camouflaged. As soon as his green light had covered the arena, he'd swapped his real body with the illusion and covered himself with an array of light matching the scenery behind him. At first he'd continued to sprint, just as the illusion had, though he changed direction to end up roughly 5 meters to Kkachi's initial left side. This was to cover up the Illusion's steps. He could only control the light and appearance of his surroundings, meaning none of his wisps, Fake Rowans, explosions of light, Light-weapons, would make any sound. Rowan stopped himself just as the first Rowan exploded into a rainbow Maelstrom around Kkachi. From this point on it was crucial to remain silent. Kkachi was easily within the range of his ability, which gave him complete control over the area. But that also meant he couldn't back off to too safe a distance without his control weakening. More importantly if Rowan was allowed to focus undisturbed on fine-tune control over the area, his fakes with their Burning-light blades would be practically indestructible. On the flip side, if Rowan's location was discovered or he had to continually evade Area-attacks, reforming his fakes and their weapons would be much more difficult, let alone his control over the maelstrom of colored wisps. Well, if that happened he had other tricks up his sleeve. For now he needed to focus on staying silent and doing as much damage as possible before Kkachi realized the only the red blades could burn him. The rest of the light-based illusions were as insubstantial as the wisps.

Keeping his breathing to a minimum, Rowan commanded each of the six fakes to attack. And attack they did, Each Rowan moved forward raising their blades ready for combat.
 
"Never better, " Hitomi answered. She'd spoken just above a whisper as she was prone to do. It seemed everyone was almost finished with their battles. On to the next challenge She thought with a sigh. Even in a place as structured and strict as this one, there was still no telling what that would be. Life was that way in or out of a world plagued by poison or ravaged by war. There was a distant time in which that fact comprised much of life's appeal, but it was fading.

An explosion of chaos and color filled the ring as Rowan exploded, engulfing Kkachi in a myriad of colors. It was near-overwhelming as his eyes winced at the bright light which now covered him. As his eyes grew used to the brightness, Kkachi found himself surrounded by several Rowan-clones, each wielding either a red or yellow weapon that glint in the light.

Cloning? He thought. Was that even a possible ability? And even so, could that even cause him to fabricate weapons like that? Perhaps a creation or crafting ability, but you can't create life, especially not of this level of realism.

Kkachi ducked as the first clone took a swing at him with an ax. Mere inches from his face allowed him to feel the heat that radiated off its blinding surface. Heat? He thought. A pyromancer of sorts?

Kkachi stumbled forward as he made a counter-attack at the ax-rowan, grabbing at nothing but air with a graceless fall.

He couldn't touch him, he couldn't even interact with him. What was he, some sort of ghost-clone? That's when it hits him... "Illusions?" Asked Kkachi, now with heightened confidence. "I'll admit, I have no clue how you're doing the heat-thing, but now it makes sense".

Tsk, he'd figured it out quickly. He needed more practice with controlling the fakes, not being able to see from their point of view was a problem. Well no matter, that just meant he could move without pretense now.

Twirling his finger -a meaningless movement but one done out of habit- The maelstrom of colors froze. A hundred orbs of light floated around and above Kkachi, the stillness as sudden as a brick wall. Wait- no it WAS a brick wall. The orbs of light morphed together, trapping Kkachi and the 6 fake Rowans inside a cube of visually impenetrable red light. Heat radiated from every surface, a blockade of burning light. The Fake Rowans morphed. No longer resembling the one controlling them, six bipedal spider-like things stood around Kkachi. Each with six extra limbs protruding from their back, totaling 8 arms ending in long, burning red light spikes. Their bodies, no longer resembling the intricate realism of the human form, were a solid blue light.

Wasting not a second of Kkachi's fall, The six Spider-men converged their combined 48 burning spikes upon their target. Stabbing, swinging, swiping, cutting through the air in a frenzied rush to overwhelm his ability to dodge or to force him to fall through the red-light wall. Rowan knew his ability through and through. Not having any mass might be a substantial limitation, but it was also one of its greatest strengths. You could not defend against what could not be touched, the only option would be to avoid the parts that could cause damage. If one could overcome all of their survival and fighting instincts, the burning-red spikes might as well be floating in open air. Dodging through a non-red part of an illusion wouldn't produce any damage after all. But Rowan knew this, and he also knew there was more than one kind of damage. Those blue-light bodies weren't for show. Intensified blue light produces tiredness, relaxation, and calm. Dodging through a blue light body certainly wouldn't do something like put him to sleep, but an instant command to relax would come over any body part in contact. Confusing his body as it attempted to focus on continual dodging and become loose and relaxed at the same time. Losing focus when the enemy was in full attack mode could prove fatal, not that Rowan was planning on killing anyone.

Still, Even as Rowan seemed to have complete control over the environment, he stayed on guard. He still hadn't worked out how Kkachi's power worked and only had the vague guess that it had something to do with luck, a risky assumption that could easily be proved wrong given the chance. Outside the Red-light prison cube he'd placed around Kkachi and the illusions, Rowan stood perfectly still. He'd kept only the absolute minimum level of control over the exterior of the cube in order to keep himself camouflaged. He'd made the walls of the cube opaque and consequently could not directly see the action inside. Without having to create intricate illusions and maintain the maelstrom of multicolors though, he was able to shift his focus to shadow radar. Shadow radar was simple in concept, but required a deal of focus to pull off. In essence, because there was no light on the inside of Kkachi's body, there was a consistent hole in his area of control. A place his light couldn't reach, a shadow. With practice Rowan was able to replicate the scene in his mind through his senses of light control. There in his mind's eye he could see the inside of the cube, where his six 8-armed soldiers of light struck at this creature of darkness. If he had not been able to picture this, his soldiers would have amounted to nothing more than flailing about at random.

'Now choose,' Rowan thought, Will you take a full body burn and escape through the wall in an attempt to find my hidden real body, or will you attempt to evade until your energy is depleted and your reflexes overwhelmed? The clock is ticking...'

It was clear: Stay away from the spikes. Illusions can't be touched but the red spikes most definitely burned at the heat of a thousand suns. The box around him didn't help either.

Kkachi had few options left, specifically three. There was no way Rowan could keep up such an intricate illusion for long, so he could try his best to outlast him. He had the upper hand of not using his ability yet. Alternatively, He could manifest his bad-luck into a projectile and aim outside the box, which could result as anything between Rowan tripping over to his whole Illusion coming undone. Unfortunately, this would not be much of an option, since Kkachi didn't even know where his opponent really was. His last option was dumb, ridiculous and would most definitely get him hurt, but if it worked it would reap great benefits.

Of course, it was option 3 that Kkachi stuck with.

Manifesting all his bad luck into one ball, he drained himself of any misfortune and threw it as far away from himself as possible. While the misfortune ball was invisible to the naked eye, his irises changed to a dark-purplish color.

By this, Kkachi's Fortune had improved by at least 50%. If he couldn't bring Rowan's luck down, he could at least bring his own luck up.

Arachnophobia was the worst thing to have at that moment, but The knowledge of its illusionary nature was some sort of comfort. Taking a run-up, Kkachi dove and slid underneath the behemoth's legs and out behind it, coming face to face with the burning wall. If his chances were ideal, then this wall would be somewhat weaker than its 3 siblings.

A quick breath,

A moment of focus,

Muscles tensing,

Like a professional track-racer, Kkachi took off as quickly as possible and dove head first into the heat, Gritting his teeth and screaming in agony as the burning sensation embraced him.

Through his shadow radar, Rowan's mental eye followed Kkachi as he dodged past the spider-soldiers. One strange movement caught his eye, a moment in which he almost seemed to fling something away from himself. None of the spider-soldiers had been in a position to push away, so it didn't seem like a reflex. Rowan had a feeling whatever it had been about was important, but he didn't have any information on what the reasoning behind it could be. Better to focus on what came next.

He'd chosen to take the burns and escape. Well, try to escape at any rate. Rowan wasn't letting him get away that easily. As Kkachi took off -a lucky timing considering he just barely missed being skewered by about 12 spikes- Rowan's cubed morphed along with him. Just as he was passing through, all but the 4 ft by 7 ft rectangle he was running through inverted itself. A new box was created, this one much smaller, only allowing a few inches between Kkachi's sides and head and the new red-light walls. It was however several meters long to ensure that despite his sprint he'd stay inside for at least a few seconds. Inside the new box was filled with a blue light, the same kind that had made up the spider soldier's bodies. Only this time Rowan had turned up the relaxant effect up to max -three of the spider soldiers had vanished so he could make the blue light as potent as possible- sending waves of relaxants upon his foe. Every second spent awash in the blue light muscles would become more despondent, reactions slower, senses become sluggish. And it was surrounded by yet another wall of red light.

Outside the new box the three remaining spider-soldiers took new positions. One at the end of the tunnel-like box and one either side. Kkachi's trajectory out of the initial cube had been out of the side closest to Rowan. Thankfully not directly at him, Rowan was still several meters to Kkachi's right, but it had definitely been the best of the four sides. Rowan moved as silently as possible, backing away from the tunnel-box with one of his soldiers directly between him and Kkachi.

.... Damnit, this is BS.

Kkachi hissed as he found himself in yet another hot-box. "Alright, Row, I see what you're doing here, but... it ain't... gon...."

He shook his head as he began to feel drowsy. Had he already used up his stamina? no, it has to do with this weird blue light, that was for sure. "Man, I think I get it, Red means hot light and blue means.... sleep light? or something? Geez man, what's brown light? I'd hate to see that", chuckled Kkachi. If he could just get some kind of indication where Rowan was hiding, He could at least get some kind of advantage going for him.

Kkachi ran his mind, trying to formulate a plan. Sooner or later he'd get too tired to think.... unless. The box around him was red, heat. He was covered in a sleep-inducing blue-light. Another dumb idea came into Kkachi's head as he stuck his hand directly into the firey walls. A piercing shriek came from his throat, like nothing that could have been human, but it worked. The pain triggered a fight or flight response to counter the drowsiness.

Adrenaline pumped through Kkachi's veins. "Bad move, Light-boy".

Hm, Rowan hadn't had anyone go with that solution yet. Kkachi taunt seemed misplaced to him though. Sure the pain would keep him from being forced into a slump, but that meant he had to be in perpetual pain. And perpetual pain meant perpetual damage. Rowan doubted Kkachi was about to continue to stay in his position and keep burning his hand until it was nothing but a shriveled stump just to stay awake. Maybe he was trying to get Rowan to respond out loud, he was still camouflaged after all. Rowan did want to taunt back, but he knew better.

Instead, he shifted the potency in the cage. Lowering the power of the blue light and strengthening the heat of the Red-light. He also had his remaining Spider-soldiers make their move. After taking a moment to aim for maximum area coverage, the 18 red spikes launched from their host;s "bodies" through the air. With the approximate speed of a baseball pitch, the spikes tabbed themselves into the smaller box. Meanwhile Rowan had continued to move backward silently, stopping once he'd once again put himself at a safe distance from Kkachi's location inside the box.

It was unbearable, the pain, he couldn't do this forever, but at least he had a plan now. The searing sensation gave him a bit of a boost. He had one more trick, one last trick that he could use to turn the tide in his favor. It would be risky and would put him out of commission for a good while, but he had to try.

All the bad luck left in him was beginning to build up again and needed somewhere to go, so why not let it go everywhere?

A guttural, animalistic scream rang out as something happened within the box. Dark rays shone from the confinement and exploded out of Kkachi's chest. He felt as though he was being torn apart but this would prove to have profit.

A dark wave spread out throughout the room, spreading Misfortune everywhere like an EMP. Without a doubt, this would hit Rowan, cause him to trip up or something.

With heaving breaths, Kkachi attempted to move. "Show yourself"

Just as the spikes plunged into the box, a horrible screech and a wave of dark energy came bursting outward, surprising Rowan into instinctively raising his guard. Dropping his camouflage, he raised a solid wall of blindingly bright yellow light in an attempt to block the dark energy before it could reach him. It did not work. Rowan stumbled back a step as the dark energy appeared through the wall, crashing over him without a moment's notice.

It didn't seem to have hurt him, not physically at any rate, but he doubted it had been harmless. What had it been about? Judging by the Shadow radar he hadn't physically transformed in anyway. He was starting to move though, which meant he hadn't been taken out by the impaling red-light spikes. he quickly re-formed the spikes on t he spider-soldier's bodies. They moved closer to the box, ready to burn him as soon as he tried to leave. He also dropped the ineffective yellow wall, wanting the excess energy in case he needed it in an emergency.

As all this was happening to prepare for Kkachi's next move, it had slipped by Rowan's mind that he'd forgotten to put his camouflage back on.

It worked. Kkachi felt like he was being crushed inside but it worked. There stood Rowan, visible and in the open, as luck would have it, though Kkachi seemed to find himself in a new predicament: Stuck between a wall and a sharp place.

There was no way Kkachi could fight his way through another fire-wall, his only option now would be to hope that the bad luck wave would cause something to happen in his favor.

Rowan realized his mistake too late. Kkachi had forced his way out of the box again while he'd been distracted, and worse he'd dropped his camo and was now visible. Well no matter, he could simply put it up again. Green light once again filled the area, and Rowan faded into the background. At the same moment, the box-prison of light Kkachi had just escaped morphed back into the three spider-soldiers Rowan had given up to create it. Kkachi would find himself once again surrounded by six 8-armed untouchable adversaries. They began stabbed and slashing at Kkachi with a new level ferocity, clearly trying to overwhelm him as fast as possible.

As the spider-soldiers turned the area around Kkachi into a frenzy of burning-light, Rowan shifted his position as fast as he could without making noise. All he needed was for Kkachi to shift his attention to the imminent danger of the 48 blades attempting to turn him into a pork roast. Then as long as Rowan could stay quiet, his presence would once again be lost. Silently he moved clockwise around Kkachi, keeping the same several meters of distance between them.

Just a little more and I'll be good- Thud. Something on the floor had caused Rowan's foot to slide bringing him falling quite audibly down onto one knee. "Shi-" he started to exclaim before clamping his mouth shut. He'd managed to keep his camo up this time, but the thud and his exclamation had been distinct, especially since there wasn't any sound from his light spider-soldiers to mask it. He just had to hope he'd get lucky and Kkachi hadn't been able to pinpoint the direction of the sound while having to deal with all those burning light attacks.

Kkachi was totally able to pinpoint the exact direction of the sound.
"Interesting thing, about illusions," Kkachi said, hoping the tiredness didn't show, "They only work properly if the person you're using it on doesn't realize it's fake"

The heat was unbearable, sure, but what was there to fear but light?

"I'll admit, you've put on an impressive rave party, but let's see you deal with this"

Kkachi's vision blurred and he had virtually no more misfortune left, but he had enough for one bullet. Curling his fingers into a gun shape, he aimed toward the thud sound.

"Bang"

Yushin got lucky again, the 'bullet' striking Rowan in the middle of his invisible right shoulder. Immediately he felt the same hair-on-end sense that something bad was about to happen. It didn't seem to be nearly as potent as the wave from a moment ago though. Comparatively it felt like Kkachi was pulling on the dregs of whatever stockpile of this energy he had to create it. Still, no matter how potent it had been, the last few moments had taught Rowan two important details of Kkachi's ability. Standing up, Rowan dropped his Camo. If he was right, which he was sure he was, he'd just keep accidentally giving himself away anyway. Better to use the energy for more practical purposes then.

With an exasperated sigh, Rowan faced his opponent. "Kkachi, No matter how accident prone your ability may make me, you cannot win this fight. My soldiers may physically be illusions, but the heat from their blades is as real as it gets. Every moment you wait for the misfortune to take its toll on me is a moment you receive yet another burn from my weapons. And for all the damage you will rack up waiting, I will continue to stand here unharmed. Simply because your energy waves and bullets can't do direct physical damage to me. But even that's not the real difference here. What you don't understand is that this is not everyday life. You are not dealing with an everyday person. You are in a battle with an opponent who has been developing their skills ever since a young age.

Don't insult me by thinking you can overcome years of hard work, training, and experience with nothing but pure luck! If you want to cut me down to size, use your own two fists to do it!" Rowan shouted the last two sentences, raising his fists and taking a fighting stance.

The six Spider-soldiers jumped away from Kkachi and formed a line between him and Rowan. All 48 burning spikes were pointed outward, causing the humanoid figures to resemble a spiked wall. Around Rowan too formed several more glowing-red spikes. Free floating, they would not restrain themselves to imitating the bodily movements of the spider-soldiers, but could attack from any angle. And on top of it all two large orbs of yellow light formed behind Rowan, glowing far brighter than the blue or the red light had. It was not unlike staring into overly-large headlights .

Yeah, Kkachi knew it. He was "technically" outnumbered, his ability was inoffensive and he had never had any fighting experience. But He didn't care about winning. He got what he came for.

"Alright then. You want a fist fight? I'll... give... y-"

The exhaustion overcame Kkachi. He had over-exerted himself and the burning walls took out too much of him. Collapsing to the ground his body felt heavy, like lead. The pain subsided but his vision started to fade.

Rowan didn't move as Kkachi fell to the ground. He'd expected him to force his way past the spider-soldiers and come straight at him, hence the goading. But here he was on the floor in apparent exhaustion. Had the burn damage finally caught up to him? Maybe using his powers had a heavier toll on his own body than Rowan had anticipated. It had been true years ago if Rowan had tried to manipulate light at the level he was today he'd have collapsed too. Everything about the scene told him Kkachi was down for the count and the battle was over. But Rowan had learned years ago not to trust his eyes. He was a man of illusions after all, and if his enemy had power over luck taking risks wasn't something he could afford. Best to make sure.

Without removing any of his guard, Rowan began a 10-count. Saying each number clearly to ensure that if Kkachi was awake and faking, he'd know that if Rowan reached 10 the fight would be considered over.

"1... 2... 3... 4... 5... 6... 7... 8... 9... 10."
