Diving Rising - IC

James looked on in horror. His gamble hadn’t paid off at all. Instead, it had the opposite effect. “GAahh!!” He exclaimed as the boy fell forward instead of back. His look of horror was soon replaced with utter confusion as shadows blasted forth from the boy. He stood a bit dazed and confused as chaos broke loose. He shook himself off from the shockwave that blasted forth from the boy. In time to smile at the compliment from one of the ladies near him. He turned his focus to the being that was still attacking people. He huffed angrily at the boy’s insults and spazzing as he ran to his cane. He picked it up and examined it, twisting the gold top of the cane, unlocking it and pulling on it a little. Loosening and revealing a steel blade in the cane. He looked up in time to see the boy rushing forward once more. “Oi!! NEXT TIME I’LL LEAVE YE BE THEN. MAYBE IT’LL CUT YER BLOODY TONGUE OUT YE UNGRATEFUL SHITE!” He blew up now, his accent and voice jumping back to what he was used to with his normal crew. He was confused as to what was going on, and as he continued to scan the room he looked for his sister Alex. Still no sign of her, he was growing angrier by the second. With a huff he snapped his cane shut and sharply struck the ground. Holding it and himself in place as he looked on. If the boy wanted no help, so be it. He would simply stand by and watch. Decapitation or not he wouldn't be helping him out anytime soon. That was for sure, but his mind was beginning to occupy itself with thoughts on his sister and uncle. Hopefully they were safe.

Her hand began to twitch erratically as Fish struggled to remove the dagger. It was not an easy task and she realized that she had not designed the robotic arm for close confrontation. Hell, she did not even know if it was repairable at this point, it was flailing left and right as she struggled. Luckily, she was glad to see that the young noble was finally out of range and that a more... engaging looking woman was actually backing her up. She looked rather exotic, no noble features at first glance which made the tension within Fish ebb once the woman threw her knives with unerring precision.

" Easier said than done, bunny juice. " she said to the woman, finally managing to pull the dagger off from her hand. With a massive rush of stream the girl was plummeting towards the ground, colliding with the gypsy girl as she landed. It was rather a dizzying experience but she was grateful for the intervention.

" Oy, well this was unpleasant. Thanks for the catch anyway. " she muttered, not really feeling her arm " It would seem my usefulness in this insane battle dwindles even further... I would rather hide behind your skirt then fight, are you in for that? Suddenly I don't feel too comfortable having only one arm, I- "

She could not finish her sentence when she saw a hail of pebbles flying their way. Crouching in a protective fashion she covered the gypsy girl from the impact. To be fair they were rather light and did no real damage but boy were they annoying. She looked up and with a furious voice she yelled.

" Watch your god damn aim! It is one thing to escape from lethal daggers, raving lunatics and damn shadow-monsters - if you throw one more pebble I will find you and- "

Just then another pebble shower enveloped her.

" This is why I work alone... " she grumbled, looking at the girl next to her " You 'kay, bunny juice? Nice shots, ey. "

Olivia watched her bullet almost get deflected, and her expression, where once showing a little bit of joy, fell, becoming serious. However, when the knife shattered and the figure snarled and almost retreated, the ghost of a smile came back to her. Her weapon reloaded once more, she started to see if there was anywhere on the figure's body that could disable it a bit more permanently. The answer came to her a few seconds later; its legs. More specifically its knees. If she took one of those out, the figure wouldn't be able to move conventionally, meaning that the rest of Olivia's companions would be able to land their blows earlier. Nikolai would have more of a fighting chance in this case, she thought.

The young lady aimed down at where she thought its knees were. As she was about to pull the trigger, a man approached the creature, quickly. Olivia hesitated; thinking that her bullet could potentially hit an apparent ally. When the burst of shadow appeared, Olivia ducked behind her cover, unsure of the effects this would have. Glancing out after a couple of moments, relief came to her when she noticed that the man was on her side; she assumed the shadow was a by-product of whatever had awoken in him, as this accuracy and the green aura on those abilities were a by-product of what had awoken in her.

Something forced her to raise her rifle again; she aimed at the creature's left knee.

"Incoming!" She called out, trying to warn her two allies closest to the figure before she pulled the trigger. Another bullet launched towards the creature, the signatory green aura surrounding it again.

Ophelia yelped as the creature turned and caught her spear thrust. What was she doing?!

The young woman stumbled back, dropping the spear, as fear roared through her brain.

The sun slipped below the horizon. Darkness fell, accompanied by the sound of a serpent belly on the sand.

Ophelia started as pebbles flew past her, toward the creature and those closest to it.

A flash of fangs, treacherous fangs. She lept forward.

Ophelia realized, that the only explanation was that she was losing her mind. This wasnt real. It was only a dream. How did she wake up? I must have to win, thats it. I have to help kill the beast and then I will wake up, probably inside my carriage.

The air around the black-haired woman began to grow warm, and she picked up the ancient spear again. She watched for a moment, hoping for an opening to land a real blow. The tip of the spear began to glow faintly, as if it had been stuck in the fireplace. As the pebbles rained down, an instance after the pillar of shadow attacked and at the same moment as the shot was fired, Ophelia tried again with her spear, this time taking a savage stab at its side.

As Evelyn moved to safety behind her, what's next was the woman before her that decided to block the blow aimed directly at Evelyn. Waiting for the impact of the woman to be released from the being's grasp, Analette looked upon the destruction and chaos before her. Never in her life had she seen a dream of a dream come to life before her. Her reaction was different than most as she examined the faces of those within with her. It was filled with confusion, horror, anger, frustration, but more so, realization. Analette watched, one by one, as the nobles managed to pick up arms and fight for their life. She wouldn't have believed it if her Grandmother had told such a thing, but here it was before her, hues and glows of light coming from oncoming bullets and spears. Hearing dispute between the two males made her slightly roll her eyes once again, knowing those two were bickering like a bunch of children when they should be working together. Working together, isn't that the goal? As Analette heard the young woman before her, a small laugh escaped her lips as she heard the nickname she was called "bunny girl". "I have hope in your capabilities." She spoke softly towards the woman, as she caught the taller woman in her arms. Raising an amuse brow by the woman, Analette shook her head, laughing louder this time, "You are quite funny, you know? But, I say you have done much as you can and you are not as useless as you think. Not anyone can go infront the face of danger as brave as you have done." She helped the woman up carefully, straightening her as she allowed the woman to lean against her frame. But, before any rest was given to the steamed armed woman, she stood protectively in front of her as pebbles came flying towards them. Blinking back a surprise, a smile appeared on her face as she ducked from the pebbles, gently tugging on the girl's arm, "You do not need to do that. The aim is poorly strung, but in good measure. I am doing fine, worry about yourself." At those words, Analette moved forwards in front of the young woman, grinning, "You wanted to hide behind my skirt didn't you? Why don't you take a rest for a bit? You deserve that, at the least. How's your arm?" She asked her before looking at the scene of confusion before her once more.

Harmerti had looked around to, once again, figure out what is happening at this Expo. What with shadows flying about, green looking bullets being shot, and... pebbles, who knows what would could be happening? Oddly enough this question didn't bother him enough to bother him. His head simply remained silent, no questions continued to bounce around to and fro, nothing keeping him mentally occupied. It's was nice. Perhaps he had finally lost his mind, but that would only matter once things die down, if they die down. Still though, there was this pestering feeling stuck in his gut that he wanted to get rid of. He never felt this kind of lasting urge before, not until this powerful assailant had forced his way into Harmerti's would-be peaceful day. Harmerti had looked back down at the medallion he had dropped. Simply looking at it now gave him a headache and made this feeling he has nearly take control of him. He decided to leave the medallion there and looked back up toward all the people, hoping they are fairing better. Some of them now are fighting the superbeing with their own powers and seem to be doing fine for now. Maybe he could check up on the ones trying to hide, see if they need any help.

Upon trying to take his first step toward the group trying to stay somewhat away from the fighting, he fell forward and hit the ground with a moderate thud, not realizing he still hadn't freed his feet like everyone else. Luckily his feet freed themselves as he fell. He hoped nothing bad happened to his ankles or leg; though, when he stood back up, no pain shot through his body. He seemed fine. Through his second attempt at reaching the somewhat passive group, he was able to fully reach them. They were in the middle of talking something about an arm. As he made his last few hurried steps toward the group, he noticed one of them had a seemingly defunct arm. He just shook his head at the arm before interjecting a rather blunt statement, "Be lucky you even have something that can be fixed or replaced," he pointed at the women's broken mechanical arm. "If you lived where I lived as a child, you wouldn't have an arm, even a fake one, to use anymore," he said as he scratched his scars around his left eye to indirectly point them out, trying to emphasize the assumed violence from Egypt he attempted to convey. A few pebbles had rushed by him, missing him by only millimeters. Harmerti didn't care about her response, and frankly didn't expect a friendly one considering the circumstances. He turned around back to where all the fighting is happening. He truly did wish he could help, but with the being's powers, those fighting it are the only ones that really seem capable. That thought had caused the annoying feeling to urch again, causing his face to scrunch up in annoyance.

Nikolai scowled at the little boy pelting them with pebbles.

"And how you think this is helping us not to die?!" This was followed by something overwhelmingly unpleasant said in Russian.

@Bolts

The creature swung at him, but ill-luck had it miss-step as it slipped on a pebble, slashing harmlessly through the arm of Nikolai's coat with one of the obsidian daggers. Its attention was quickly diverted however by another shadow attack from Alex. It moved with impossible speed, side-stepping the worst of the attack, only to have a second bullet plants firmly in its back.

The figure squealed as both attacks hit. Nikolai shouted triumphantly. "Yes! Zat is it! Attack at once!"

In the wake of both hits the figure slumped, sinking to the marble floor in the heavy silence that followed. Tobias stood shakily, looking with wide eyes from Alex to Olivia.

"W-what on earth did you do? W-what was all that black and green...stuff?!" His mind was still reeling from shock: the shock of being attacked, but mostly the shock from the sheer number of impossibilities he had just witnessed.

Suddenly the figure began collapsing in on itself. The black fabric of its clothes shifted and writhed, as if the flesh underneath was boiling. Suddenly the cloth ripped and hundreds of black beetles poured onto the floor, fleeing in every which direction.

Tobias recoiled and even Nikolai looked horrified, but the insects seemed intent on no more harm, they only dashed for the door in a frenzy of glistening black bodies.

In the next moments Tobias remembered he was holding his breathe and let it out quickly.

Fish was actually surprised that the girl talked to her in a rather pleasant way. She expected nothing of that sort so she was a bit clueless how to respond first. Her twitching arm was pumping steam out of it so she needed to seal it with her palm, staring at the girl with her brows furrowed.

" The last gal who told me that I was 'funny' ended up with a broken jaw. " she said, trying to dampen the hissing sound of the arm " But I'll make an exception for ye just this once 'cuz you helped my arse to land on something soft and nice. "

When she heard about her arms she frowned.

" It's just a scratch... An ugly, gaping, steam-venting, arm destroying scratch but a scratch nonetheless. I lived through worse so- "

She was interrupted when an interesting looking fellow gave her his 'advice' about how lucky she was. Her eyes narrowing Fish almost wanted to just outright ignore the guy but in the end she decided to reply with a coy grin.

" Well lucky for me and my arm that I have nothing to do with that dismal place you described boy. But do believe me - not everything is as bad as it sounds, you could have been living in a noble district where your 'worry' was that you did not get enough apple juice for all I know. "

Returning her attention to the girl Fish grunted.

" Ya know, bunny juice, I am not one to just waltz away from the fight and nor do I need a rest. All I ask is- "

She was stopped in the middle of her speech as she heard and seen the deafening sound of their enemy exploding into bugs, the little things hurrying outside of the building as fast as possible. Fighting down her fear and shock Fish stomped on the ground in anger.

" That's it! I knew it was a waste of time to come to this lunatic town! Ancient enemies? Monsters? Giant Bugs? MAGIC? " she stared at everyone, especially at the phased Tobias, pointing at him with her finger accusingly. " You lunatic nobles and your fascination with history! Look what you have done! This place is beaten up, the people ran away in terror - and even my arm is in disrepair now! All because of your 'amazing fascination' with history! "

She let out a frustrated sigh as she tossed herself on the ground, inspecting her malfunctioning arm. Trying to reach in her bags to find some temporary solution she grumbled in herself.

" Stupid man... stupid exhibition... stupid nobles... "

Olivia watched the bullet slam into the figure, and while it didn't hit the intended target - something she mentally cursed - it did apparently cause the figure to crumple to the floor, again something she cursed. As the silence settled, the ghost of a smile that had tugged at her expression vanished. Slowly, she reloaded the rifle and approached the collapsed form of the figure, rifle raised as a precaution. Her eyes narrowed into a glare as she stopped about twenty feet away, watching for any sign of movement.

"Careful, it might get back up."

Tobias seemed to be in hysteria: Olivia felt she should have been as well, yet her stance and expression appeared calm. She took a glance at him; her expression regarding him with almost pity.

"You ask that as if I actually know." She paused for a moment before sighing, "If I knew I would tell you."

As the figure exploded into hundreds, if not thousands, of beetles, Olivia let out a Finnish curse and took one shot into the swarm before she rounded on the girl, who was now complaining about "lunatic nobles."

Olivia reloaded the rifle and distanced herself from the girl, "Your ranting isn't helping. If you want to be helpful, try and get one of those beetles. Or even better; be quiet so the grown ups can figure out what's going on."

Moddy watched in glee as he annoyed both parties. He was getting more reaction from the nobles and others more than the creepy fellow attacking them all. When Nikolai yelled at him with the question of how it was helping, the black figure slipped on a well placed, and lucky, pebble. Oh come now! See, I'm helping Mister. Just having a laugh is all. He said with a voice giddy and full of malice. Soon after the small interaction, the figure bust into bugs and skittered away. Well, it did want us to be godly and such. I guess this is how ants are compared to gods! At least it knows its place now. He said confident before jumping to the ground and picking up stray pebbles for later. I gotta say though. If I had my broom on me, it would have been swept up in my amazing-ness before the first blow even happened. Yikes kid, could you make any more of an ass of yourself? A voice giggled in his head. Huh? Moddy replied to the air before his backside started to develop a growing pain. Underneath his clothing, a donkey's tail started to grow. Moddy made a small yelp from surprise but came out as a neigh. Shocked and horrified, he looked around. He had noticed a few people had some weird magics, Alex in particular, about them. Why was it getting him now!? W-W-whaa?! He said as he forced his hands to is backside. I'm just horsing around, Kid! It's not like I... Mule-tilated you! HAHAHA! The voice in his head rang out with an un-godly sinister tone.

Once the pebbles stopped firing as she heard a roared Russian male angrily yelling at the boy who had been throwing it, Analette shooked her head before turning to the woman. Listening to the woman before her speak of unpleasant cirucumstances of her having to hit someone for calling her funny, Analette shook her head, grinning, "I would have done the same if I was in your position. Especially if someone called me "funny"-looking. Though, I am glad you would not do that to me. Plus, I would not have helped you if you had not helped me, really. So, we are even." She said, shrugging her shoulders as if it was nothing. However, Analette's attention went towards the tan-skinned man as he approached them. Raising a slight brow, she stared at him slightly, taking in his appearance before hearing his blunt words. "And pray tell, where did you reside from? Surely you are not from Britain or France, judging by your skin tone." She took in his appearance a little more before looking over at the woman, amused by the banter and remarks she had spoken. But, before the woman could say anything else, another noble lady came by,  the one who had been shooting the green bullets, stopped and harshly spoke to the woman she had been helping. Taking this small moment to divulge into what came to play, Analette saw a shadow near the fake noble, seeing it moved sort of with him yet not with him. Was it his shadow or another entity he was controlling? Nevertheless, the green bullet the noblewoman had shot was also something to be concerned about, yet Analette never found herself what's the word? "Freaking out" by these circumstances. However seeing the young boy growing a tail or turning sort of animal-like, it merely brought her curiosity on an all-time high and her amazement of what's happening became more fascinating.. However, hearing the young woman she helped blame the nobles of their fascination for history and culture, she merely studied the tanned skin male. Egyptian, perhaps? She thought to herself. However, before she could think any longer, her eyes widened as the figure managed to transform into beetles, coming at them as they looked for a window exit to escape the enclosed room they were all in. As the beetles left the premises, Analette re-positioned herself into a more comfortable stance as she turned to the noblewoman, "It seemed when you touched the gun, you had memories of holding a gun? Like reflex?" Analette questioned, musing at the outcome of how the noblewoman used a gun as if she had done so before, though her hands showed no markings of ever holding a gun.

Harmerti couldn't help but chuckle to himself at the banter the woman had said. He didn't exactly expect her to mention apple juice so he thought it was a little funny. Still though, she had seemed to insult his home land and that irritated him slightly. "Ah yes, apple juice. I seem to have left my only basket of apples in one of my five mansions, thank you for reminding me!" he said playing along with the whole apple juice joke. He didn't have any mansions and honestly didn't like how big they were. Frankly the wooden cabin he had built barely fits him and his falcon, just as he likes it. He then heard another woman ask him about where he lived. He looked around him and remembered that before the fighting had started, people had wandered around the Egyptian exhibit of the Expo. "As for my 'dismal' homeland, girl," he mocked the other woman calling him boy, "You're standing in it's old achievements. Egypt, my dear. Yes it may not be a safe place to live, but there is no other place I'd call home."

Suddenly beetles! When the woman that had bantered with him had started stomping around and screaming, calling everyone lunatics and history fanatics, Harmerti had turned around to see the bugs skitter toward the exit. His stomach flipped a little when he saw them crawl around. He almost immediately remembered some disgusting stories from Egyptian children talking about beetles digging into people's skin. He didn't believe the stories, but it did cause his skin to crawl. The stories in addition to the fact that the superbeing seemed to have just dissolved into the beetles didn't help the pestering feeling he had gotten a little bit ago. Trying to ignore this constantly irritating feeling, he leaned over to the woman who had just ask another about guns and memories. After her question had finished, he remembered one of the others talk about how everyone is fascinated with history and said to her, for no particular reason, "You know, I've never really been interested in history."

Ophelia let out a yelp, as the creature was hit and fell to the ground, and dropped the spear in her hands. She turned and looked at Tobias, her mouth about to frame a few similar questions, when the shape on the floor writhed and turned into too many beetles to count. She let out a disgusted cry and moved away quickly, feeling a little annoyed that her nightmare had taken such a turn.

Once the bugs had disappeared, and she seemed to be safe, Ophelia found a bench to sit on and sank down, watching the people around her. Once seemed to be infuriated with the nobles, blaming them for the event. Two other women seemed to have their heads on straight, while a little boy was having some issues with remaining entirely human. Distantly, she heard the darker-skinned young man speaking about Egypt, and her heart gave an uncomfortable jump. Or two.

"This has all been entirely horrible," She announced softly, to no one in particular. After all, this had to be a dream, so these people didnt matter in real life, right? Her gut gave a twist, telling her that something was wrong with that logic even though she desperately wanted it to be true.

"Well. If Im not going to wake up and find that this was a extraordinarily creative nightmare, I would very much like a cup of tea to settled down." After a pause, she added, "Or perhaps a brandy."

As if realizing she seemed to be talking to herself, she looked around at the people again and smiled uneasily. "I dont know any of you and you possibly just saved me from that horrific monster."

@everyone!

Tobias looked at Fish, surprised and slightly offended. "This isn't my fault. I just showed up, same as you. I didn't just decide 'oh! this is a lovely day to get ambushed by a strange black magic incarnation of an insect collection', I think I'll make that happen." He brushed past her to examine the clothes on the floor, nudging them carefully with the toe of his boot.

@DawnAntalios

"You all seem rather calm about the fact that we were almost murdered by a supernatural being." He noted, as Olivia absolved herself of responsibility for the strange green power. He flinched as she took one more shot at the fleeing beetles.

@Baconhands

Something rolled against his heel and he looked down. And elegant fountain pen lay on the floor, it was solid black with gold trim and set upon the cap was the small gold silhouette of a monkey with a short, crooked tail. Tobias picked it up, frowning at the object, he suddenly had a strong urge to keep it.

Ophelia drew his attention away. He sympathized with her greatly. "Yes, something much stronger than tea, I agree with that." He pocketed the pen, turning to the buffet table that had been laid out in a corner to look for drink of that description.

"Looks like brandy is out, but I have found a small bottle of red wine." He poured several glasses and gestured to all to come calm their nerves.

@Flutterby

Nikolai, sure now that the attacker was of no more danger to them crossed the distance to the young boy who seemed to be in some distress. The child let out a bray which caught the big man off guard. He gave Alex a sideways glance.

"You did zat to him?" He asked, though keeping his distance lest the youth repeat his shadow magic at Nikolai.

@Peaceswore @Bolts

Suddenly a clattering of boots echoed down the hallway and three policemen rounded the corner and poured into the room. Something happened then, something incredible. There was a flash of light, which seemed to emanate from the three broken stones in the center of the floor. When it died the constables were frozen in mid-step, their faces fierce and determined, but completely unmoving, the clock face on the wall was also still and a flock of pigeons were suspended in the air just outside the window. It seemed like time itself had taken respite. Tobias turned back slowly to the stones and his eyes widened. There, floating just above the ruined tablets were three glowing figures, one above each shattered piece.

The awakening begins. They said in unison, their voices echoing in the minds of all present. Ask you each one question, for we can spare no more time. The darkness comes, and you must be ready.

@everyone present

Fish was not really interested in the insult of the noblewoman, talking about "grown ups". She had seen such behavior, oh too much of it - just because they have higher education and a rather pompous nature they think they can do everything. No wonder, she looked quite handy in combat but was still just a noble. The same went for the egyptian boy who seemed to be really proud of his nation.

" Oh right. Those were their deeds, what, like few thousand years ago? " she said " Wake up, sand worm, those times are gone. We are in the REAL world now, you know. Technology? Choo-choo trains? Life moves on! "

She was certain that she was not making friends in this "group", nor did she intend to at this moment. She tried to fix her arm or at least make it somewhat functional to just get the hell out of this bunch of freaks. Frankly, the only person she did tolerate was the strange girl who caught her. Hearing her words she let out a smiling frown and nodded.

" Finally a gal who understands how things work. We helped out each other, bunny juice, that is fair and square. I am glad that you- "

She turned her attention to the boy named Tobias who made up his defense against Fish's outrageous claims... which, to be fair, had some relevance... But still the girl remained adamant in her state.

" Ahha, sure. Then why were your friends shooting lazers and shadow everywhere? Why are people evaporating into bugs? Why are these people talking to themselves? " she asked grumpily " Look, I had a plan but now I just want to get away from you incredible weirdos. The last thing I want is- "

She turned her head around as footsteps were to be heard. Her eyes widened in fear as she immediately recognized the uniforms.

" SHIT! Cops! " she felt true horror washing over her once again, trying to scrape her arm together " Shit! Shit shit shit shit shit... " she tried to move but suddenly something else happened: a light, piercing and bright coming from some strange figures blinded her, needing to blink once or twice as time seemed to freeze.

" For the love of... what now? " she cried out loud as they began their monologue. She found it strange that she could still move and thought that in this chaos would be the best to make her escape... except that her arm did not move. The items were all froze in time and humans as well except for the small group and Fish could move every inch of her body except for her robotic arm which, apparently, refused to flow with the time, essentially shackling the girl to the floor.

" You can't be serious... This must be a bad dream, right? I took too much from that stuff that shady figure was selling in the alley... yes, that must be it... this is lunacy... "

She hated things she could not explain - and this thing outright drove her crazy.

Finally the BS was done, whatever the hell that thing was, was now gone...sort of? Maybe?   Hopefully it was seeing as all those bugs scurried off to get away from them.  "Repulsive thing."  Alex scoffed as he put his pipe back in his boot.  Now that the fighting was done he found himself facing another huge problem, namely trying to put logic with that he just saw.   His thoughts were swarming and he was struggling no body's business to put one and one together.  As he tried to put logic to this miraculous event he watched the others in silence only letting out a snort when Tobias said they were all calm.  Alex had to admit it was weird that the others were freaking out about this, but you could be damn sure he was freaking out.  Just...internally, really it was taking a lot for him to not show his immense confusion and frustration to the others.   As he continued to think and ignore the exhaustion and soreness his body was starting to feel, he was suddenly snapped out of it when he heard the sound of the donkey.     Moving his eyes over to Moddy he blinked several times at the sight and rubbed is good eye once more to make sure he was seeing straight.  "..............?????"    He didn't even know where to start his line of question for this sight.   When Nikolai spoke to him Alex shot a glare at the man.  "Me?  Like hell I did, what on earth makes you think I have the capabilities to do that?'  He asked as he pointed at Moddy.

Before he could get a response however he heard the sounds of feet rushing toward the room.  "Crap, time to leave."  He muttered as he adjusted his coat his eyes moving over every which way to find the best escape route.  Before he could however the cops came in, though that didn't worry him just yet.  Only three and they would have to deal with this BS so they should give him plenty of room to leave.  However before the men could so much as shout, they stopped moving.   At first he thought the stopped moving in shock at the sight before them.  But that wasn't the case in the least their faces and body poster gave that away.  "You got to be kidding me."   Now moving toward them he waved a hand in front of their face and got no response.  "Yaaaaaaaaaa I'm just going to be noping out of here."  He said as he waved a hand careless to the others.  "Hope to never see you fucks again."   He barely took a step when the voices reached him.

He didn't look over his shoulder to see where the voice was coming from, since it seemed to be his own thoughts.  However hearing this only made him scoff.  "Must be ready?  Darkness comes?  Hahah no. I have no interest in whatever the fucking shit hell this.  Only thing I'm ready for is going back home and forgetting all of this."   He placed his hands in his pocket and was almost at the door when he stopped due to that voice from earlier talking to him again.  'We are curious, ask them a question.'   "Really who the hell are you?  I just want to go home, or wake up this isn't something I want to deal with and m head hurts to much to even want to attempt to deal with it."   "You, ask a question."   "None of this makes a lick of sense.............. I'm not arguing with something in my head."  He said out loud though in a quiet tone.  'Stay.  This could be worth it, just ask one question....you know what you want to know'  "Hm...worth it huh?  Fine."   Still standing close to the door he turned his head and looked at the figures standing over the tablet.

  "One question each?  Well fine then.  I want to know what am I getting out of this BS?  Hm?  Darkness is coming I get it really I do."  A smirk when on his lips and he shrugged.  "But to be frank I don't give a rats ass, I want to know what I get out of this because no way in any plane do I do shit for free.  Especially whatever in the hell this is."  He said keeping himself calm finding that he wasn't freaking out as much anymore, almost as if someone else was with him helping him keep a clear head.

Olivia turned to face the brunette; she had a point, the rifle felt natural in her hands, though somewhat not exactly what she wanted. She looked the woman up and down, studying her for a moment before she turned entirely to face her, "No memories no. But... it felt instinctual; not holding the rifle but the... my apologies, the English term escapes me: metsästys. Hunt, I think. Everything about that seemed... natural to me. I guess," she glanced down at the rifle in her hand, "I think whatever... awakened as that beetle swarm said... made use of the tools at its disposal." She finished the sentence questioningly; all of this was alien to her, but she didn't want to panic or freak out, if she did, she thought she would be useless.

After that thought, Olivia took a glance at Tobias, regarding him with pity-filled eyes. She opened her mouth for a moment, as if to respond, but inevitably, she did not respond to his comment. Her attention, instead, fell to the three policeman who rounded the corner apparently without an understanding of what the word subtly meant. Suspicious of this, Olivia's rifle raised. Something told her to stop; something had told the world to stop.

She didn't dare lower the weapon, even as she turned to face the floating figures above the tablets. Like the creature had mentioned earlier, they too spoke of an awakening. They offered one question to each of them. One. That wasn't enough. How could she find out everything she needed to know with just one question?

The girl from earlier seemed shocked and confused, one of the men asked about what he had to gain from this after promptly insulting everyone else in the room. Olivia was confused, but wasn't close to panicking.

Olivia mused for a moment before she looked one of the figures in the eye, lowering the rifle slowly, "One question, and I guess I'll have to ask the obvious one. What exactly is happening to us?"

Harmerti squinted at the young woman who he had been bantering with after she called him a 'sand worm.' Interesting insult to say the least. She's definitely creative, if nothing else. However, he didn't exactly have much time to respond as a stampede of boots started their direction. Upon realizing that they are policemen coming to do their duties, Harmerti felt a little relieved. Finally some authority has come to help the people. They took their sweet time, though. The guy who was attacking already left, but at least they are here now.

A bright light at some distance distracted Harmerti from the guards. Their sources were a little strange. The stones? Harmerti grabbed notice of the Egyptian stone, barely able to recognize some of the markings on it. Were some of those markings the same ones he sees on some of the walls of the Egyptian temples? He kept this thought in the back of his mind. After the lights had died down, he looked back toward the cops who had now seemed frozen in their steps. This made Harmerti look twice at the cops only to be again distracted by some more glowing things. This time there were people or some form of being floating and glowing above those tablets. They mentioned something about an awakening, perhaps its a theme going on now. Whoever these unusual beings are, they really want to wake whoever they can up. Then they spoke. It wasn't audible, per se, but he still heard every words they said. Just like all those questions that swarmed his head earlier, as if he simply couldn't rid them, as if they aren't his own. No more mind games. These voices started to irritate Harmerti with every word they spoke. Luckily, they didn't want much, but a question. Boy does he have plenty of questions to get rid of now, but they would only take one. He listened to the questions asked before him, noting two of them asking the 'what' questions. Perhaps he should ask something else. Perhaps a 'why?' He stood for a second, before speaking out and asking the beings, "Why us? What makes us more special than the rest of humanity? Some of us don't even seem to understand the basic concept of respect and you three glowing beings clearly want all of us to be a part of this... 'awakening.' So why us?"

James stood stock still, his mouth open slightly in amazement at what unfolded before him. He had seen a lot of weird and and inexplicable things in his travels. But this topped the cake. He stepped back when the creature dispersed into beetles, a look of disgust on his face. He didn't like bugs, not one bit. He attempted to stomp one as it scurried close by but evidently missed. With a sigh, he turned his mind elsewhere now. On his sisters whereabouts, and his uncle. He missed Tobias' invite for wine and took a step towards the exit of the hall when he heard the scuttling of boots outside. He let out a sigh of relief believing the authorities would help clear things up and maybe locate his sister. That thought however was very short lived as everything went deathly quiet. Time itself seemed to stand still, then he heard a different voice in his head. Confused he turned around, trying to find the new source. He laid eyes on the three figures above their respective tablets. "One question...damn." He began to think, what did he want to know? What could they even tell him? Was his sister okay? What was going on with them? What would the others ask so that he wouldn't waste his question. He sighed, most of what he needed to know could be found out logically. Surely the others had similar questions to his. He would get his answers when they asked. Otherwise, he would just have to wing it. Like he usually did when travelling, and he was okay with that. He looked at the figures with a curious thought. "What, what is the meaning of life?!" He asked jokingly, not really expecting an answer.

With a slight brow raised, Analette heard him call her "girl", which was surprising, since she was going to assume he would refer to her as "gypsy", but, no, just girl. She didn't mind being called, girl, it made her feel young, well, younger and innocent, in a way. A small smile escaped her lips as her assumptions was right, though she never voiced it. "Home." Analette repeated out-loud, as the foreign word slipped through her lips. "I wonder, what it is like to call a place, home, as you said." She added in as a second-thought before nodding in acknowledge of him not really enjoying history too much. Hearing the young woman whom she helped and whom helped her, Analette's smile became a little more wider, wanting to hear more of what she had to say before she got distracted by the nobleman. However, hearing a softer voice speak up, Analette looked over to the porcelain-like woman, before seeing the unease, confusion in her eyes and statement. "I do not like owing people, however, I do not have tea nor brandy to offer. Though, perhaps if there are some answers you seek beyond what you have seen before with the creature, perhaps I can give you insights." Analette's silky, sultry voice resonated the room as she spoke to the woman [Ophelia]. However seeing the nobleman that was fascinated with history, it seemed, as well as the one who perhaps touched the "magic" item that started the whole facade [Tobias]. At the mention of red wine, Analette shook her head, "I would have to pass on the alcoholic drinks." She simple stated, not giving any reasons for not wanting to drink it, aside from the fact she wanted to abide by the customs and her culture, even if some she did not agree to. Then again, she did sneak off without permission. However, hearing the sound of steps, Analette turned, her eyes widening at seeing the police. On high alert as her heart beated erratically, her breathing became staggered as she looked around for an escape and a way to hide. She couldn't be found with anyone, especially here. Analette hadn't done anything, but she knew better than to believe authorities. But, before she could escape a bright flash of light appeared only for her eyes to close slightly, not wanting to be blinded by the light. Once the light grew dim, she blinked, staring at the police, frozen like a statue. Who? What? How? Analette mused to herself, slightly taken aback as she couldn't believe what was happening today. Would her Grandmother believe her? But, seeing three statues repaired, glowing before her and the others with her, Analette took a step back. The darkness comes and they must be ready? Furrowing her brows at the riddle, Analette's head started throbbing slightly, trying to figure out everything that was happening as the scenes of what happened to then replayed like a flashback in her head. At hearing the curses of the "fake' noble, whom she decided to lay her eyes on for the time being to mask the headache forming in her head. Hearing those around her ask questions one by one, Analette stood there, listening and observing. She couldn't believe it, but she agreed with what the "fake" noble said, she wouldn't do anything for free, especially if it means. .  facing the same creatures without answers and what they were dealing with. But, hearing a nonchalant question of what is the meaning of life, a small laugh esaped Analette's lips as she turned to wink at the man [James]. "How is this possible?" She spoke out-loud, looking towards them in question and curiosity, "I have never experienced something as unfathomable as this."

Ophelia followed Tobias to the buffet, gratefully taking a glass of wine. "Cheers," she muttered, giving the glass a half-hearted raise before taking a (slightly un-ladylike) gulp.

She turned to look at the woman who spoke to her, noting her dress. "Gypsy" was the word that most people would use, but her father had once admonished her for using that term. While she hadn't paid close enough attention to remember what he had provided as an alternative, she did remember his insistence. She opened her mouth to respond, but it shut rather quickly, as her eyes did, when a blinding light filled the room.

It seemed to come from the tablets that had been broken, and when it faded, the sight was enough to cause Ophelia to drop her glass. Red wine splashed the hem of her dress, and she regarded it with a gasp, and then a bolt of regret. The first sip had been quite nice; it wasn't cheap. Wine aside, there was still the issue of stopped time and glowing figures to deal with.

The three figures, she assumed there was one from each stone, spoke in unison, inviting them all to ask one question. Within a few seconds, it seemed like most of the based were covered. What's going on, why us, how is this possible, whats in it for us? And of course, the meaning of life. While she appreciated the way that man took advantage of the opportunity (after all, glowing figures coming from broken ancient stones were probably the best people to ask), she figured she should ask something a little more immediately pertinent.

"What is this darkness?" Her voice came out steadier than she expected it to; she hadnt had enough wine for that, had she?

Tobias glared at Fish as she continued rudely, then decidedly focused on something else, mainly the glowing light that now filled the room. Upon hearing the apparitions speak he tipped back the glass of wine and set the glass back quietly on the table. When he heard a shatter of a glass next to him he withdrew a silk handkerchief, though could not bring himself to tear his eyes away from the intimidating figures.

He listened intently to the questions being asked and kept his mouth closed while the first few were answered:

@DawnAntalios

The three beings turned on Alex, there was no disapproving glance, they barely had visible faces but the feeling that crackled through the air at the selfishness presented them was almost tangible.

The fate of your world hangs by a spider's thread. If this world falls so do you, and everything you love. Your reward is your life, and the lives of every living thing, mortal and divine.

@Peaceswore

Next it was Olivia's turn and the figures turned to face her. You are beginning to awaken. Every one of you who houses the divine, you can feel the power stirring inside you. Even as they spoke Tobias began to feel strange, as if something within him began to resonate with the gentle hum of the voices in his head. He glanced at the pen in his hand once more. The power will protect you, and help you fight the forces of darkness that would rise up to meet you.

@Baconhands

The next person who asked was the Egyptian man Tobias had noticed earlier, his amber-toned skin growing slightly paler in the light of the apparitions. We cannot justify the choice of those who chose. We know that you are worthy, that you possess strength that is needed, beyond that you will come to understand in time.

@Yahaga

The beings then looked on James and answered in a very straightforward tone: The meaning is different for all points of life, it is up to the one living to give it meaning, but that meaning will be lost if the world is consumed.

@andujarprime

The realm of possibility lies far beyond mortal perception. You will stretch this perception as you aid those in need if you. This was for Analette. The spirits were doing a thorough job keeping their word.

@crucialstar

The final question had the apparitions turn  to Ophelia.The entity you fought was an agent of chaos, a being that would see all life in your world reduced to ash and bone. Its master is a great serpent and master of destruction...a giant serpent.

@Flutterby

Tobias felt a connection fire in the back of his brain, a name floated to the surface of his mind and he had no idea why, but his eyes shifted to Harameti when he spoke.

"Apophis." He said gravely.

There was a feeling of affirmation in their minds.

He is but one of the masters working to destroy you.

Then Tobias stepped forward. It all sounded insane, but something inside him was urging him to trust the strange apparitions.

"My turn then." His voice echoed off the glass walls in the silence of the frozen second. "What do we do now?"

The figures seemed to blur for a moment before returning. When they did their voices seemed more urgent.

You are running out of time. You must reach the hearts of the three dynasties and master your powers. There will be many enemies who will try to stop you, those who are not housing the divine will be given strengths to help.

"'The three dynasties'? What do you mean?"

There was no verbal answer, just a thin arm lifting to point to a wall. On the wall was a mural. A map of the known world. Suddenly three bright points lit up on it, made of the same intangible light as the apparitions. Greece, Norway and Egypt.

Tobias felt a pull toward the map and his eyes fell to the Egypt point. Something connected him to it.

"We need to go to these places?"

Olivia's eyes narrowed into a glare; the answers only seemed to stir up more questions in her mind, and this started to unnerve her. She'd never read about anything like this before, heard about it from stories or seen anything referencing anything like this before in the wealth of knowledge that had been available to her. To add to this, Olivia felt suddenly self-conscious; was this divine with her now? Had it been with her all her life? What exactly was this divine that the figures were referencing to? To her annoyance, Olivia had only been granted one question, and when she was answered, she simply had to bow her head humbly and hope that the others had questions that would answer her's. This did not seem to be the case, and when one had asked what the meaning of life was and another asked what he stood to gain from this, Olivia's expression became that of a scowl.

A thin arm pointed to a wall, depicted on it, a map of the known world with three points brightly lit on it. Two of them, Greece and Egypt, were clear to see and they made sense to her in a strange way that she could not describe. Greece seemed to have a particular affinity with her. Why the figures wanted them to go so close to the Ottoman Empire was something Olivia wanted to question, but she thought better of it after a moment; an inkling told her that she had to go there.

The third light was in the North, in the frozen wastes and mountains of the North of Sweden. Olivia had read about this place in a book, a place that had, 36 years ago, been a part of Denmark and had lost its independence many years ago: it had been referred to as Norway.

This third light puzzled her but a glimmer of hope found itself in her mind: her home in Finland was nearby, she could visit it on her way to this place. She smiled to her self for a glimmer of a moment before she turned to look at the figures, "How do we get started?"

Alex Wyght

Alex listened to the beings speak and felt the tension in the air, however he didn't seem amused or worried that much.  "My life is my payment?"  He asked before scoffing and shaking his head as he waved one hand carelessly.  "That's not payment in the least, people die, its going to happen.  Honestly you telling me this, doesn't want me to save this shitty world... Rather I feel more inclined to do things I never thought about doing.  You know, since the world is ending and all that lovely stuff."  He said as he put his hands in his pocket.  "I'm sure you can handle this without me, no reward no me."  He said as he started once more to walk to the door ready to leave this place.  He was getting accustomed just a tad to what was going on.  But even so its going to take more than the your life reward to make him want to do anything for these mythical beings.   Just as he was about to leave his eyes moved away from the door and to the map that was being shown.  Landing right on Greece, he knew about that place but looking at it now it made his heart beat against his chest in...curiosity?  Excitement?  Whatever the reason the feeling was interesting to say the least.    "Fucking cross roads, to do or not to do that is the question."  'World ends I could go and have the time of life before it does and die without regrets.... OR I could play along and go with them, and figure out what these feeling is, as well as figure out what the hell is going on with me and my head.'

Analette listened carefully to the three figures, deciphering their words as one by one, they responded to the questions with ease. However, the urgency in their voices with them running out of time made her furrow her brows. Regardless of being rewarded or not rewarded, she knew that she was placed her for a purpose and one of those purpose were to help these divines awaken. Taking a glance around the room, she eyed the noblewomans (Ophelia and Olivia), sensing they were part of the divines that were rising. If her perceptions were going to grow and become more broader beyond mortal perception, how far can she go? And how would she be of help? Her divinations? Feeling her head aching once more, she hissed at it as she saw the three glowing light on the map. Norway, Egypt, and Greece. That's where they must go? She was a traveler, so going through different countries wasn't the problem, however how would they get there? Walking? "How many divines are awakening? And what means do we travel by?" She asked the three figures out-loud. Did that mean she had to leave her family? A part of her felt freedom, but a part of her felt fear. Fear of the unknown, especially when it comes to her. But, to others, she felt resonating auras within everyone in the room, especially the three figures before her. However, what made her more curiouser and curiouser was the fact that the people within this room are entities, sleeping, it sounded like. However, hearing the out-lash of the "noble", Analette turned her attention towards him, before slightly scowling at the frozen police within the room. The police unnerved her, but as she made her way towards the male, a gentle hand was placed on his shoulder. Seeing the array of emotions passing through his eyes, Analette oberserved the male before hearing if he should to it or should not. Speaking softly, Analette looked at him, "You and I have no business to ever pass by, at least, not until this moment and this happened. However, are you not curious as to what is happening? Why there is that shadow near you and what is going on? Do you not wonder if you have a "divine" in you and what it must mean to you?" Taking her hand off his shoulder before taking a step back, Analette looked at the map once more, her heart racing and yearning for an adventure beyond what she knew. She wanted to learn how much she could stretch beyond her abilities as well as get to the bottom of what was happening and how what laid before her was possible. It was truly intriguing.
