I know I wasn't there for the last bit however it was a nice cancer-sludge of a chat that salt men like me thrive in. may the discord chat be remembered for the funtimes
 
I do have to say that I really liked Discord, and I made a lot of friends on there (which made the site less intimidating) and I'll be sad to see it go. However, I do understand why you're saying too many people are using it for RPs, though I haven't actually seen that. I liked that on Discord, I could hide in another lobby to privately talk with someone, and I could also start private chats if I made a friend. I especially liked the voice lobbies though (even though the often turned into American Idol) and I've made friends there too. I'm sad about having to leave Discord behind, though I do understand why, because I actually got to know the people I'm roleplaying with as people, which was much better than any other RP site I've been on. I think that if the new chat also has seperate lobbies for chatting and voice (maybe video?) And if one can open chats with only certain people, like to discuss an RP or send pictures or something like that, I'd like the chat that way too. Also, I think the chat would need to be mobile friendly. If I'm not on my computer, I'm on my tablet, and my tablet cannot support discord as either an app or a website, and if something is put on the site that goes on every page you are on, then my tablet wouldn't be able to support RPN either, which would make me a sad wittle klover.

They should put it back to where you could customize the color scheme. Good times.

You have been amazing as a staff member. I am positive that your absence will be felt, by the staff in an observable and tangible way, and by the entire site population, though they may not know the cause. My prayers are with you. Really. Hope to still see you all over the threads. ;)

I completely support the dismantling of Discord, despite its obvious elegance and idealistic location off-site so as not to draw the site down. I also appreciate and sympathize with all of the though and consideration that you have, and continue to, put into considering our options with regards to chat. I'm in your camp in that I loved the chat bar, in spite of its failings. I trust that you'll be working on a solution for us all. My simple mind likes to imagine that more robust hardware would render the chat bar safe and functional, or perhaps more efficient and straightforward coding, or a restriction of functionality to the basics. Regardless, I'm excited to see what you and the staff come up with next with regards to real-time chat. I only offer that it is, in my opinion, a huge benefit to the site to have it and that even though we may function without it, the site will lose quite a lot of appeal for many of there isn't some form of chat reimplemented eventually.

Best cosmetic add-on ever, it's a shame it wasn't stable enough. It was affecting load time for the site and the script was causing the site to crash for a lot of people. :/ But do drop us a line if you think you've found an add-on that the admins might be interested in!

No idea! I wasn't staff at the time. Anyways, back on topic.
 
I know that the Discord server was closed for good reason, but could you at least keep it up and if you can't moderate it, don't? Because I think a lot of people enjoyed the discord server. Maybe when people join you could give a warning that it is not moderated, I think that would work. All in all tho, I think it would be great if we kept the discord server.


Also, get better @Mordecai.

Mobile app is still under development, yes. People were kind enough to give us their money to fund it. That isn't a project that we're just going to abandon.

The server would still be under our name and a reflection of our community, and we don't want to see something like that degrading into some pseudo-4chan free-for-all where we don't put any effort into protecting our users. Additionally, if we took a laissez-faire stance on that server connected to our site, then people would start to be dissatisfied that they could not behave the same on the actual site and/or forget the distinction and accidentally bring that same behavior over here. In the meantime, we offer people go privately make connections via other platforms, which many of our users have gone ahead with doing so.
 
*Trills* An interesting day this is, with @Mordecai no longer being Administrator and Discord being...retired.

Actually, Regal, skype doesn't need to be downloaded anymore! Although the downloaded version is faster, you can now launch skype from the download site instead, and you only need to install an addon for your browser if you want to use voice or video :)
