All I'm going to say, since I've been here for a while, and because I was unjustly rude to DWiz when we shut down the onsite chat, is that DWiz does care, and he's doing his best, and if all you care about is the chat settings, and that this is just another forum to you, not a place that you actually care about, with hardworking members like DWiz and Mordecai that you care about, then perhaps it's simply not the site for you.


Perhaps you should do more than simply think of only your own circumstances, eh?


Anyhow, like I said, it is all I'm going to speak of on the matter since I am just another member, it just saddens me to see someone more worked up over features than another person's health.

While I appreciate both everyone who is trying to put in their opinion on how the site could be its best and everyone who is defending RPN and all its lovely operators, I hope that we can de-escalate any conflict here. Let's all give Mordecai a huge thank you for all the amazing things she's done. I'm so happy we're coworkers now! ( :P )

The chat was where I made connections here on this site. What I have enjoyed about RpN was the ability to chat with and collaborate with people in real time. It is what made this site different and impactful to me. I do not find it very easy to transition into RPs very easy, and the chat made that easier for me.


So yes, I am going to be bothered by the fact that what made this site different and helpful for me is now gone. I am going to be bothered by the fact that people are telling me that "Oh, you must not be fit for us then, because you are sad that this thing is gone". I am also going to be bothered by the fact that you are now attacking me because I expressed my feelings.


edit: anyone from chat who I was friendly with should please contact me.

This. I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt that way, though I did meet a lot of my fellow RPers on there and it was nice to get a hold of them outside of the site.

I'd like to encourage you to make use of our general and personal discussion forums, as well as OOC threads and interest checks! (EDIT: Ooh, also, PMs.) Because chat has just been shut down, the use of these places is going to explode. It should be quite busy and fun. If you still want an off-site chat client, you can definitely exchange Skype contact info with everyone you collaborate with.

I hope the fox gets better soon. A smart move is always to tactically withdraw. Take as much time as needed to recover.


As for Discord going out, there goes our backup...


I'm taking this as a sign things have gotten more serious and as people say these days, "it just got real". Here's to hoping things don't go from bad to worse.
 
It's very sad that Discord is gone, but the staff on this site work tirelessly to create and maintain the best possible experience for its users. Trust that there will be new exciting things (like Dwiz outlined) and remember a chat platform doesn't make this site what it is, the users do.


RpN is a roleplaying site above all else, after all.

This actually breaks my heart for two reasons


1. I love mordecai so much like a sister and now I'm worried about her. I'm so going to have a talk with her. She always seems so strong and unmovable. So I don't know how to feel.


2. RPN's discord was an escape for me from all the crap, even though not a whole lot of people were in it. I could always find my friends and new people there. Though it wasn't so popular that you couldn't see crap, it still was a home to me and so precious to me so close to my heart.


I cried when the old chat dissapeared, now you guys are making me cry again.


Now I need to add all my friends to my discord friendslist and try to get them into one server together which probably will be impossible because I've tried before to get them into my server so that we can hangout without a bunch of strangers, never ever worked out.


Everytime the chat is gone it makes me feel so disconnected with everyone, it makes my life feel more grey.


So I honestly am extremely sad about this.


@Mordecai *Hugs* Also I hope you'll be okay Morde, please keep me updated on how you're doing, infact PM me whats going on maybe I can help at all.


You're my sister, I will always be there for you.

Perhaps you could try a Skype group instead? Skype is a more popular platform overall and seems better equipped for what you seem to be talking about.


Either way, sorry to hear all this, but as things are presently it wasn't very feasible for us to keep Discord, and like we said, we are looking into a suitable replacement for the site.

I don't have Skype and never want to get things like Skype and team speak they look complicated and on top of that I don't want to accidentally turn on a voice chat. Also I have problems with installing programs to chat to online friends.

I know you guys are looking into a suitable replacement But I just wished you kept discord until you found a replacement so no one would feel so disconnected or heartbroken because i know I'm not the only one the chat meant alot to.


Sorry I'm just honestly really sad right now.

*paps you* Skype takes a little getting used to. It took a while for me to get the motivation to make my own, but eventually I did and I found that it really wasn't really that tricky to figure out. Plus when you first install it, you'll find that there's a lot of tools to test things out for. If you just play around with it a bit, I'm confident that you can figure it out.


Our original plan was to leave Discord up until we found such an add-on. Unfortunately, circumstances could not allow that. We didn't mean to pull the plug today, but it was necessary for us to make sure we can keep our users safe (our top priority), since a lot of our staff don't have enough time in the world to moderate both the site and a separate chat client.
