The Briefing

S.H.I.E.L.D. once operated from the shadows, protecting the world from things that it wasn't prepared to see. A number of unfortunate incidents forced S.H.I.E.L.D. out of the shadows and shattered any positive influence it may have had. Now that HYDRA and S.H.I.E.L.D. are synonymous to the press, a ragtag team of heroes must ban together to salvage what's left of S.H.I.E.L.D. and save the world from the threat of HYDRA. Tensions are high and trust is low.

It won’t be easy. The job never was. But if it was easy, there would be no need for heroes.

Requirements

No god-moding/Mary Sues/Etc

This is just a basic rule you should always follow. Make your characters realistic, realistic characters have flaws.

Proper grammar is a must

English doesn't have to be your first language but you must understand how to write it. A few mistakes every now and then are okay but if you write in "txt talk" or just have terrible grammar, you will not be accepted into the roleplay. This is absolutely nonnegotiable.

A minimum of one response per day

This requirement may be negotiated on certain circumstances but it's important to be online often to help move the plot along

A minimum of one paragraph per response

A paragraph in this case is defined as at least four lines of solid content

Being rude out of character is unacceptable

Your partners are your friends. You should bond over the RP, not bicker and argue. In character, there are no restrictions as long as your character has good reason.

Be original

Don't be afraid to stray from the norm. Having a group of characters that are all identical except for their names is no fun.

Know the premise of the show/movies

You don't have to be an expert on S.H.I.E.L.D. or the Avengers. It's not going to be straight out of the movies or shows. We'll carve our own path. Just have a good idea of what you're getting into.

  General Background: Sil is the son of Henk and Geesje Hofstede. Together they live in the Capital of The Netherlands, Amsterdam. Sil went to primary school at the age of 4 and finished high school at the age of 18 (Highest Degree, to go to an University). He did gymnastics from the age of 6 and one time went to the National Championships. He started at High school with working with Computers for the fun. He followed some lectures about Hacking and became quite skilled.
  
  
  He worked at the AIVD in The Netherlands (Secret Intelligence) in the ICT centre, helping Field agents to get their position, information, clearance passes, hacks if needed and maps. At the age of 21 he got an invitation for S.H.I.E.L.D. he moved to America and started working for them.
  
  
  At SHIELD they honored him for his skills in working with Computers. Two years after he started at SHIELD he got his own Command Room to help the Field Agents. He was send one time out to the field when he needed to hack a system which was not possible from his Command Room. The Field mission went good and Sil liked it, but he prefers to stay at his Command Room

  Sil is a person who doesn't make easy good friends. He's social and at school he had some friends. He can get along with nearly everyone. He's good at speaking for a group and giving commands. He gives command as a true leader, being friendly and not "Commanding" rude. He's interested in people, and tries to be always polite.
  
  
  He doesn't like going out and prefers to stay at home with some friends playing games or hacking. He visits two days a week the Gymnastics Hall. His favorite subject is Floor and Vault.

  Sil wakes up by the alarm of his clock. He steps out of bed and walks to the Closet to put some clothes one, for this day it is jeans and a shirt. This is going to be a hectic day, an infiltrated mission of a smaller base of HYDRA. He walks to the eating room and orders breakfast, a glass of milk and two pieces of brown bread with Cheese. He sits down at a table and east slowly his breakfast while he looks at his phone reading the news.
  
  
  He sees it is 10 A.M and finishes his breakfast and walks to the Command room. He greets the men at the Room and starts checking a single run, to confirm everything works. He tries to find contact with the Field agents. The screen before him shows four displays, each the view of one of the agents. When they all react he looks to the Big Boss. The Big Boss gives the command to set everything in motion*

Please read through this entire thread before posting an application. I would like to have a small-ish, highly active group. Relations to or playing canon characters is allowed if you contact me and are approved prior to posting your applications. Characters can have powers as long as they aren't overpowered or they can just be a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. I'd like to get this started as soon as possible so post your applications right away. If you have any concerns or questions, feel free to PM me or reply in this thread and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

I have a less detailed version of this (which will re-cast at the end of the first "act") if you can't meet the length requirement. If you're interested in that, let me know!

  Stephanie Kristen Wang was born to a single mother, who happened to be a SHIELD
  
  agent herself. Her mother, Ling, was a Level 8 field agent. Since, she was frequently on missions or other trips Steph grew up partly at the SHIELD academy. She had a room all to herself, with limited access to the rest of the school. Steph, being a kid snuck out to the other parts of the academy. Which is where she met Royce. Royce, was also a SHIELD agent, she however was a specialist. Whenever Royce was at the academy or not on a mission she would teach Steph different kinds of martial arts. One day, when Steph was seven, Steph was outside of the Academy when there was an invasion. The men came in and tried to take as many of the students and trainees hostage as they could. Steph was one of the ten people taken. She was held hostage for four months, the men there would force Steph to fight other children they had kidnapped. Steph, was going to give up hope of ever leaving when one day, her mom and Royce broke in and rescued her. They got Steph out safe but as they were leaving Ling stabbed by one of the men.
  
  After the day her mother was killed Steph trained to be the perfect SHIELD agent. She
  
  trained with Royce for Karate and Muay Thai. Then she trained with a man named Tanner Holdridge for Jui Jitsu and Tae Kwon Do. Besides martial arts she also worked to learn other languages besides her native Mandarin and English. She learn Spanish and French first before moving on to German and Russian before finally adding Arabic. By the time Steph was 18 she was the perfect Specialist. She worked alone, or if she was forced to have a partner, she would work with Hadley Martin, another rising specialist. They were together the day that SHIELD fell, in a safe house. It was in the safe house that Hadley snuck up on Steph and jammed a dagger into her back whispering "Hail Hydra". Steph still has nightmares about that, after she recovered she made herself the promise that if she ever saw Hadley again she'd kill her.

  Hobbies/Interests: Martial arts including: Muay Thai, Jui Jitsu, Krav Maga, Karate, and Judo. She also loves to just sit down and watch a movie.
  
  
  Important Goals or Desires: Steph is big on trust, if she trusts someone it is completely and she would never betray someone. So one of her important goals is to protect the people she cares about, and never betray any of them.

  Steph is sarcastic and sassy most of the time, she likes to deflect from personal
  
  conversations unless it is absolutely necessary. She is nice and easy to get along with assuming people aren't too defensive. Partially due to Steph being a Specialist she likes to be alone a lot of the time. Especially before missions, she likes to have time to herself to think things through and get her head in order.
  
  Steph is a nice person, but she's not big on PDA. She's not a big hug person; she's the
  
  kind of person who ends a phone conversation without a "Love You" or a "See you later". In her past, the guys she's dated have taken this as a sign of her being cold or removed, but she just doesn't feel she has to say it. She thinks a smart person can infer that she loves them, assuming she does.

  "Hadley, get in here. You have to see what's on the news," I called to my partner as I
  
  turned up the volume on the television that was placed on the wall of the kitchen. The screen displayed the image of three helicarriers falling out of the sky into the water beneath them. I was about to call out for Hadley again, when I felt a sharp, stabbing pain in my back.
  
  I fell backwards, off my stool. I was consumed with pain, my body was screaming at me
  
  every second I remained conscious. Turning, I saw Hadley, she had blood on her hands and a vacant expression on her face. As I fell, I fell into Hadley, she allowed me to lean on her for several seconds before she pressed her face against mine and whispered into my ear.
  
  "Hail Hydra." Then, she dropped me, hard to the ground and walked out of the safe house
  
  and out into the world, leaving me to bleed out on the kitchen floor.
