Fantasy Demetrix Academy

Margo sighed. Here was yet another person trying to make it seem like it was so easy to control something as wild and unpredictable as feelings. "I will pass, thank you." He was seriously killing her buzz. She didn't want to train right now, think too much about school or the classes she must take. She knew he meant well, and that was all well and good, but she didn't trust herself to work too closely with anyone, even the most well intentioned people. "I will play a game though. Instead of your battle, the three of us, and whoever comes along, can start by showing a bit of their powers. Each person must then try to essentially one up the person before them. I watched my siblings play this all the time when I was younger." She said cheerfully, wanting a chance to get to know everyone.

Kira stared at Lace, his last words ringing in her head. He thought... he thought she was strong? She numbly followed after him, letting the darkness wash over her and clear her mind. "Lace..." She murmured, catching his attention. "I... I want to..." She let out a frustrated breath, trying to figure out what she wanted to say. "I want to help you!" She finally burst out, racing up to his side. "I want to help you... with your business..." She said, her voice trailing off as she lost her courage.

Nanami smiled. "Then you might want to prepare to lose some bit of hearing." She said, crossing her arms. When she was younger, she made a crater in the ground from a little scream. That was when she had no control though. She laughed a bit and leaned against the tree closest to her. She was ready because she had a natural protector in her ears.

Margo grinned at the challenge. "All right, hold on." She said, grabbing some moss from a nearby rock and stuffing it in her ears. "Alright, you start. Start your screams off small so as to build up a tolerance." She laughed. "Do you scream in your sleep? I hope not. I don't think all the ear plugs in the world could block out any night mare screams you have." She joked.

"I do not care what you say Margo I will help you I'm going to help you"he cover his ears with earth but he can still hear things.

Lace halted in his tracks one of his feet balanced atop the edge of a root which slithered out from within the depths of the dirt. He was a bit embarrassed by what he said, she probably thought he was odd now not that the teen should really care about what she thought. When his name was called he looked back over his shoulder, his blue eyes following Kira as she ran to his side.

"How?" Was all he asked, wondering what she was going to do to help the business he was aspiring to be in charge of one day.

Nanami smiled. "Just hope I don't have nightmares." She said, standing off from the tree. She took a few steps until she was a bit farther away from any of the trees. Her body heated up in about the half a second it took her to take one short breath, her eyes glowing a light teal color. She exhaled, her scream defining the forest floor. And she was holding back. She had purposely aimed for a clear spot between the two. When she had run out of air, she stopped, her natural ear protectors unsealing and the shining teal lines on her skin disappeared as she relaxed again.

Margo fell back, jostled by the sheer force and shook her head laughing. "If you were a super hero your name would be Siren." She told her with a chuckle and adjusted herself. "Alright well, ladies first." She said, taking her turn. She thought for a moment, then looked up, projecting herself out to them so that they each perceived her as their own celebrity crush. She strut around a tree, laughing and finishing off her drink. "I am a big celebrity, howdy howdy howdy!" She yelled playfully, winking at each of them separately.

Kira bit her lip, a bit embarrassed by her declaration now. "Well, I can use my shadows to help you!" She said, a little bit desperate. She had never offered help to someone and she didn't want to be turned away now. Raising her hand, she concentrated hard and murmured a quick aria to help her. "Shadows of the night, hide me from sight!" It started slow but the lengthening shadows on the forest floor slowly began to rise, writhing around her into a cocoon of darkness. Soon she was completely gone, melted into the shadows. Then the bubble popped and she emerged with a smile. "See? I can help you sneak up on anyone!"

"one question what is celebrity and with that it's my turn"he started to focus his eyes growing green the plant life suddenly grew faster and faster and the earth thay standing on starting to look like jello and act like jello

Lace for a moment held no emotion as he always did inspecting her form and the words which seemed to cast her power. When she reappeared it seemed to all finally slip in, he tried to keep his composure. But ever so slightly the right edge of his lips began to twitch upwards until it was curved in a small smirk. He looked away in embarrassment hiding his face when the smirk only grew in an actual grin. His white teeth bright in the shadows when finally he let out a few small chuckles. It all felt so alien and odd, but at the same time it felt natural and right.

"You do realise your saying you'll help," he paused a view more light bits of laughter slipping out, "you'll help an assassin." Sage even seemed a bit token off guard by the new appearance of a Lace which expressed his feelings.

"Ugh, neanderthals." Margo muttered, even as the ground shook and shuttered beneath her and her feet slid in. "Ewwww." She grumbled, then wondered where everyone else was. Her roommate seemed cool but the more company the better. "Go, Siren!" She laughed, pulling herself out of the goo by grabbing onto a low hanging tree branch and hauling herself up.

Nanami smiled and reached up, pulling herself out. "You want me to scream more, or do my siren giz?" She asked. She could make them zombies, which wasn't her favorite, and she wasn't very good. "Well to bad." She said getting in position. She started to sing, her voice carrying out over the place. She began to bend the sound waves, under control of the two of them.

Kira grew serious at his words but her determined expression didn't change. "I am already one with the night, Lace." She said, sounding more serious then she had ever spoken to him before. "I know of all that happens under the blanket of darkness. Death is no stranger to me. I wish to help you, Lace. Not because I don't know what you are. But because I know exactly what you are - and you are like me." She looked down, her cheeks flushing slightly as she took in her own words. However, she didn't take them back. "We are kindred spirits, people who have so many walls between them and the outside that no one can ever get through. But the thing is, people like us? We need someone that we can let those walls down around. And usually, that person turns out to be someone else who has walls just like yours." She spoke softly in the rising darkness, her form and figure blending into the night, seemingly without her noticing. Shadow made himself know on her shoulder, two glowing blue eyes fixed upon Lace.

Laces smile instantly vanished feeling so foolish for revealing such a happy but useless side of himself. Walls, he didn't live within walls in fact he stands outside of them outside of many. For ever since birth he was an outsider to anyone, in his situation walls where just tools you can break down both verbally and physically to get what one would need. The males teeth where slammed into one another unnoticeably, his jaw clenched and tight as he slowly extinguished his flame of agitation.

"We've only know one another for a couple hours, don't tell me who I am." Lace mumbled his bangs hiding his gaze as he began walking in what he knew wasn't the direction of the party. But Sage had left his shoulder he knew and she now sat before Kira her wise eyes awaiting the girls next move.

Startled by his fierce reaction, Kira just watched as Lace walked deeper into the forest, away from any hints of civilization. Sighing, she sank to the ground, just noticing that Sage had remained behind. Gently reaching out her hand, lest she scare off the animal like she did the owner, she let her own walls fall in the company of the two felines. "I thought I had finally found someone who would understand..." She whispered softly to them, caressing their fur softly. "I thought I had found someone who could find use for me, for my skills..." She let out a deep sigh, closing her eyes and bowing her head. "I suppose I was wrong. Lace, you were wrong too. These shoulders aren't strong enough... I'm not strong enough." Letting the darkness envelope her, she slowly drew her knees to her chest and silently began to cry.

Lace stalked through the woods his hands swatting away the wild life which interrupted his undetermined quest. Solitude, was all he wished for. It was the only way to think as if the aura which came off of Kira was to dense to breath and made his mind a muffled mess. He couldn't think under such conditions, to the point in which his foot somehow became caught within the tangle of unnoticed vines. The teen took in a sharp breath as he hit the ground forcefully to the point that he lost one of his contacts. Rather then standing up or removing his foot from the black berry bush he merely sat there. He'd think here.

Sage curled up against where she believed to be the girl her warm body giving off heat like a generator. A useful tool during the cold night.

Slowly Kira realized that tears were pointless. Feeling sorry for herself was pointless. In fact, feelings in general were pointless. She had opened up to Lace, shown him parts of her that were better off hidden in the darkness. And he had looked at her weaknesses and struck. Slowly letting the darkness around fade away, she looked at the three-tailed cat that had curled up beside her. "I'm sorry Sage." She whispered softly to the feline, giving her one last stroke. "I thought you and Shadow could be friends, but I think your owner just told me that he doesn't want me around. I suppose he has a point, I went too far, I showed him -" She took a deep breath and spoke past the lump in her throat. "I showed him me and he deemed me... unworthy." Her hand lingering over the warm fur, Kira found it hard to leave. Heaving another sigh, she continued petting the animal, resigning herself to another night alone in the darkness with no one but the two cats for company.

Lace laid on his back in the dirt staring up at the star scattered sky, the dazzling lights resembling lanterns.

"Are you, are you coming to the tree where they hung up the man they said murdered three," he began the soft lullaby for although on the surface it was something confusing and unsettling if you thought about the lyrics they grew in beauty.

"Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it seem. If we met up at midnight at the hanging tree.." Lace took his time with the song taking small breaths to calm himself before sitting up. His now blurred vision not much help as he attempted to work around the vines to free his foot. The whole time he had felt the sharp needles dig into his skin but was far to used to pain to be effected. Once freed he could see the small trails of red lingering down his soaking into his sock but didn't think much of it standing quietly before walking back without sound recalling his earlier steps. Finally when he came within the vicinity of the girl he finally made himself known by leaning against the tree she sat at but on the opposite side.

"I've never really had to apologise to anyone before," Lace murmured looking straight ahead.

"But I've never really had a companion either, so I apologise for my irrational words Lady Kira."

Taking a deep breath, Kira spoke. "I must apologize as well. I spoke without adequate knowledge, making a fool out of myself." Taking another deep breath and hardening her heart, she murmured softly. "I suppose this means you accept my offer of help then?" Then, despite herself, she smiled. "I'll take payment in time spent with Sage. She's a beautiful creature." Rising to her feet, she took a few steps to the side until they were leaning side by side, staring up at the sky. "I have perfect night vision." She said suddenly, glancing at Lace. "I didn't say that before. But I can see as easily now as though it were day."

Lace let out a small sigh an odd sensation of relief washing over him at the girls words.

"Now if you are to commit treason the fitting punishment will be death you must know." He informed the girl to make sure she was still sticking to the idea of helping him. As Sage curved the trees trunk and elegantly climbed the vertical plant life, her claws clinging to the rough surface before jumping to Laces shoulder and making her home.

"Thank you. And that could easily become a useful tool in the future," he stated referring to her night vision.

"My power is a tool. I'm glad that someone finds it useful." She murmured softly, glancing down before flicking her gaze to him. "Lace, you won't be able to stop me from helping you. Not only are my powers perfectly suited to your line of work, but..." Here she hesitated before taking a deep breath and letting it go. "I've killed before. One of the nights I sneaked out like usual, except... someone had seen me use my powers and cornered me in an alleyway. He told me that if he wanted me to remain quiet, I would have to give him something..." She swallowed hard before continuing. "I... I struck out with my powers, I was panicking and I didn't know what to do... He died... and as I stood over his body, all I could feel was relief..." Letting out another deep breath, she felt oddly lighter, as though sharing that memory had lessened her load.

Lace listened to the girls tale and it caused himself to reminisce on his own past decisions things he'd never share. When she concluded the story he stated lightly as he turned around,

"Strong shoulders," before beginning in the direction as planned earlier his body and expression having returned to its past composed and serious state.

"Now this will be a companionship, right now your acting like my servant who wishes to prove themselves and don't do that." Lace spoke orderly by habit.

Kira let out a little giggle, Shadow gripping tight onto her shoulder as she stepped out after Lace. "I'm not trying to be a servant, it's just that I'm not quite sure how all of this..." She waved her hand in the air. "All of this assassin business works. As well as this partnership thing. I've never done anything like this before. I want to learn from you." She concluded simply, not at all intimidated by his tone or demeanor. Even if he didn't admit it, those were his walls and she didn't have a right to tear them down.

Lace rose a brow of amusement at the girls statement,

"You want to learn from me." He repeated her last couple words quietly under his breath as his hands where held behind his back as he thought about it. What did he have to bring, she seemed to have a strong hold over her own abilities and a bit of her mental state so what was he to teach other then the association and it's order of doings things.

"Like what? What do you want to learn?" Lace asked a bit interested in what she'd say in response.
