Defending the Land ~ NotAllThatCreative + xXMissChiefXx

Ambers face turned white. "No..." She whispered. With the army just in front of the church, she looked outside. She gave a blood curdling scream and ran down the stairs, and outside the church. "Where is my sister?! You give her back, and you give her back right now!" She screamed, beating on one of the soldiers arms.

~~

Theodores eyes widened as the girl pounded on Cedrics arm. What a crazy woman, he thought, his eyes flickering to the church. Perhaps this is Justins vengeance, he decided. Either way, this girls behavior now, and with all the stories of what she'd done, had him convinced she was crazy. But if her sister wasn't with her, where was she? And should they continue to lie? Perhaps some of them could start taking her back to the castle, while the others waited for the sister.

Cedric blinked in surprise at that little woman that was hitting his arm and he looked towards her. He had no idea what she was saying and frowned lightly, knowing that she was distressed. Reaching over quickly, he gripped onto her wrists and pulled her hands away, wanting her to stop being so violent. Since he really couldn't speak with his mouth, he just stood there quietly and attempted to tell her it was okay with his hands despite how difficult with his grip on her wrists.

(Where would you like me to put Clarice at?)

(That's fine :)

He can write and read lips but he's used to sign language. I do have a character that can communicate with him if you want me to bring her in for a few posts? Clarice knows sign language so once she's around, there won't be any problem with communicating with him.)

(We could do that

:) )

Theodore pulled the girl off of his arm. "For one thing, he doesn't know what you're saying. He's deaf. Secondly, your sister is already on her way to the king. If you want to see her again, you'll come with us." He told her. Amber looked at him for a moment before bursting into tears. He sighed and turned her around, obligated to bind her wrists behind her back. He turned to Cedric and signed, telling him that most of the men would be on their way back to the king, and that ten men including himself (Theodore) would wait at the house for Clarice.

(Alrighty :) )

Cedric watched Theodore's hands closely and then gave a firm nod in understanding. He looked towards Amber and felt some sympathy for the girl. Knowing that this situation was probably hard for her, he reached over and gently placed his hand on her head as if trying to make her feel better. He then dropped his hand and looked towards Theodore, silently telling him he was ready to go.

Theodore nodded, leading some of the men back to the girls house. He left Amber, Cedric, and the rest to head back to the kings. "Where are they going?" She asked aloud, looking back to Theodore and the others. She was shaking slightly with panic and trying to stop crying, but she wasn't having much luck.

(I'll go back to Theodore when Clarice returns.)

(Alrighty :) )

Cedric noticed what she was asking and reached over, grabbing some paper, ink, and a quill. He dipped the quill into the ink and quickly wrote something down on the paper, showing it to Amber. "To get your sister." It informed and he gave a soft frown, putting it back on the table in front of him before starting to write something else down. "I am sorry but they asked us to find you two no matter what." He lifted the paper back up and let out a small sigh.

Ambers mouth dropped and she tried again to calm herself. But it was dark now, and it was doing nothing for her nerves. She merely focused in walking and focused on her breathing. Clarice is a strong girl. She can handle herself, she told herself. She's never really relied on me for anything, she reminded herself. But she could help but continue to fret.

(Sorry this is short, I'm on my phone)

(You're fine :P

Just lemme know when you want me to enter in Clarice!)

Cedric reached over and gently pat her head, trying to comfort her. He frowned lightly and let out a small sigh, dropping his hand. He wasn't sure what to do to comfort her and just hoped that this situation wouldn't end badly for either girl. Knowing that Clarice's aunt was the queen, he doubted that the girls' punishment would be that bad and they'd live through it.

(Here in a minute :) )

"All right guys, let's camp it out for the night!" A shout came from behind. Amber jolted at the shout, but came to a stop. She offered a smile to Cedric as thanks, and decided just to follow him on this journey. Camp was set up, and a fire was started where many of the soldiers cooked their dinner.

(Sorry about late reply. Went and ate dinner lol)

Cedric looked over and then gently nudged Amber towards the fire with his hand on her back. He could tell it was going to get rather chilly that night with the cloudy sky and the last thing he wanted was for the woman to freeze to death or get sick. Grabbing a blanket, he put it in her arm and nudged her once again, gently pushing her forward.

(Oh, how dare you? :P Haha. No problem!)

Amber followed him and held the blanket, taking her seat beside him. Despite her situation, something about him made her feel safer. She stayed fairly close to him, wiping some of her tears off her cheek. She just watched the fire, her anxiousness stifling her appetite. After a while, she nudged his shoulder to get his attention and told him, "I need to get to sleep."

(How dare I? How dare you! :P )

Cedric looked over at her when she nudged his shoulder and looked curious. He gave a nod and an encouraging smile, silently telling her it was safe to sleep. Turning back to the fire, he gently poked at it and reached over, tossing a log into the pit to keep it going. He got up and walked to a different part of the camp, having something he needed to do when someone motioned for his attention.

(Oh, I do dare! D:<

:P )

Amber made her way to a set up tent and curled up inside. She lay there for a while, before she peeked through the back and noticed the coast was clear. And with that, she quietly snuck out and made her way through the trees, trying to stay under cover of the dark. She began making her way back for the church, trying to decide how to get back to her sister.

(That's a bad idea... Daring D:<

xD )

"You idiot!" One of soldiers yelled after a few hours when they noticed that Amber was gone and glared towards Cedric in both annoyance and anger. "You let her go!"

Cedric became very embarrassed at the moment and smiled in a sheepish manner. He scratched the back of his head and went in search of his bow and arrows, knowing that he'd have to track the young woman down now.

(Lmao! But it's in my nature... Dare!

:P )

Amber ducked when she heard the yelling, believing she'd been caught. She cringed in realization that she'd already been noticed. She looked around and kept low as she made her way up the hill. They had gotten quite a ways from the church, but she had faith that she could get back, if she weren't caught.

( xD )

Cedric grabbed the quiver of arrows and a bow before starting search around for the young woman. Despite how he may not be able to hear, he could see very well, even in the dark. He had no problem spotting Amber after a few minutes of walking and sighed quietly. Knowing that she'd probably run, he approached her quietly and gently placed his hand on her shoulder, frowning deeply.

Amber gasped and spun around quickly, caught off guard. How he'd been able to sneak up on her like that without her noticing, she had no idea. She looked at him and frowned, not sure how to get out of this one. "Please... just..." She started, but she didn't know how to finish. Tears trickled down her cheeks again, and she didn't know what to tell him, or how to react. He'd made her feel safer with the army, and she knew he was disappointed, but she didn't want this to interfere with her mission to escape or to save her sister.

Cedric pulled his sleeve down and gripped onto it, reaching up to wipe her tears off with it. He dropped his hand and shook his head lightly, trying to tell her that he couldn't let her go.

"I... I am sorry." He managed to say in a rather rough and kind of scratchy tone. It was fairly obvious that he rarely used his voice it sounded terrible and barely understandable. But, all that aside, he was trying to make her feel somewhat better even if it meant trying to use his voice somewhat.

Amber nodded to let him know she understood. Part of her was glad she didn't have to finish her trip to the church in this cold, as she began shivering. She followed him back to the camp, where the rest of the army looked onto the in relief. Amber was certain now they wouldn't leave her alone in her own tent, and she sighed as they arrived. Many of the soldiers glared at her, and she glared right back, not having it this time. She merely stayed alongside Cedric.

Cedric walked back over to the fire and sat down on the ground in front of it. He leaned back against the log he as sitting in front of and crossed his arms lightly. Starting to relax, he let out a small sigh and kept his jacket close as he started to get warm to the point where he was starting to feel a little drowsy at that point, staring at the fire quietly.

Amber leaned against another log, keeping quiet as the soldiers finished making their dinner. The stared up at the sky, wrapped up in her blanket and dozing off. She wondered about her sister, if they'd reached the castle yet. Or had she gotten out? Was she back home? The situation was driving her mad. She soon fell asleep though in front of the fire. She'd grown very tired from the exhausting day, and she needed her rest.

(Sure!)

Throughout the night, the soldiers took turns staying up and watching, two at a time just in case. In the morning, though, as dawn broke, they had one at a time keep watch. Once they finally caught glimpse of her coming over the hill, they took position: two on either side of the door, and a soldier in each entry way. Theodore stood by the stairwell, and they were all ready.

(I'll post Amber after your next post for Cedric xD )
