Character Naming Explained
The way the naming works here is that a newborn character starts out with a name that included a suffix of -pup at the end of a chosen, single-worded prefix. Naming stems from what wolves see around them, like trees or flowers or worldly elements. With that said, a wolf would start out with a name, like Rockpup or Treepup, that will then develop into Rockpaw or Treepaw after they reach six moons (months) old, which is old enough to consider a wolf as a teenager. Once a wolf becomes this teenaged age, they are referred to as a pack Omega, with suffix -paw instead of suffix -pup, starting out as the bottom rank in the pack. Rockpup would then become Rockpaw and Treepup would then become Treepaw. Now, a wolf can work his or her way up the ranks of the pack, from Omega to Beta (which is the ultimate rank goal for all the wolves) and even possibly from Beta to Alphabeta if the need for one occurs. However, each pack only has one Alphabeta, as well as one Alpha. Once an Omega graduates to become a Beta/Defender, the pack Alpha will give them their Beta/Defender name, which adds a suffix after their previous prefixed name. For instance, Rockpaw could become Rockfoot and Treepaw could become Treebranch, depending on what suffix you choose for your Beta/Defender's name. The names only consist of two words max, unless your character is a Rogue. if your character is a Rogue, then they can have a single-worded name, such as Leaf, or a double-worded name, such as Wind Gust. A Rogue can even have a Beta/Defender name if their history involves them having been a pack wolf. Any prefix/suffix or other name combination is welcome as long as it adheres to these rules, and as long as it is something the characters would understand. For example, you cannot name your wolf Cartire or Streetpaint, or any other name that is associated with something they would not see in their natural worlds.
