Deception [Closed]

"Just be careful on where you step and it'll be just fine." She said to the girl, still looking around. She was amazed and disgusted by all that doing. Really, to do something so gory to someone... the murderer must have had some serious grudge against that guy. "Let's see.. first, we'll have to search for fingerprints." She took from her bag a kit of fingerprint detecting powder and began sprinkling the table, chair, bed, and every object she saw with the powder.

"Hmmmm... yes, but why would a stranger just randomly come and actually be invited inside? If he was hiding, he surely wouldn't let anyone inside." He pointed out and began checking the furnitures. Pretty simple, nothing too fancy. Lukas liked that, for the calm and kinda shy guy he was, simple decoration was just his style.

Ivy stifled a groan as Nelly sprinkled white powder over all of her hard work. "Do you think you'll really find fingerprints through all of that blood." She said instead, her voice shallow. She turned her head away from Ivy and squinted, looking at her through the corner of her right eye. Heaving a sigh she decided it had to happen sometime, although she would rather it was her sister destroying the scene. She wasn't worried because she knew she wore gloves, leather gloves. She learned a lot from OJ and his murder trial, and in a case like this blood soaked leather gloves would probably help her out too.

Moet nodded. "Exactly, which is why in that case the living room wouldn't be a good place for us... unless he was expecting someone else and the murderer posed as that person. There are way too many what if's here." She rubbed the bridge of her nose and sighed as she confused herself.

"Maybe. We never know until we try!" She said cheerfully. After looking for the prints without any success, she sighed in frustration. "Hnn.. no fingerprints. The killer was not dumb, they used gloves apparently, or didn't touch anything at all, which seems unlikely." Nelly put on some thin gloves so she wouldn't disturb the environment too much and took out of her bag a magnifying glass, so she could look for anything suspicious.

"Uhhnnn... right." He nodded and made notes on his little notepad. "There doesn't seem to be any signs of struggles in here... should we go look in another room?"

Ivy let out a chuckle, propping her elbow against the wall and leaning on it. "You sure look like a true detective with that magnifying glass." She nodded at Nelly's hand. Looking at her battered sneakers and deciding that they couldn't get any more messed up she took a couple of steps into the room. "What exactly are you going to use that for?"

Moet shrugged and stood to the side, letting Lukas lead the way once again. She rubbed her arms as if she was cold and sighed. "So, Lukas, you grow up around here?"

"Of course~!" She said with a grin. Nelly started looking around with her prop, then gazed over Ivy. "What I'm going to use it for, you ask? Look for clues of course!" She turned around and kept investigating, searching around every corner. "What if, for example, the killer left a hair strand behind?"

He walked around the room, looking at everything and taking notes on what he found important. "Hm? Oh, well... I don't know actually. After my eight years, I began living in an equestrian center a little far from here. When I turned 15, the horse I was taking care of died, so I decided to go to another place. That's when I met Nelly!" He smiled cheerfully, but then frowned, "But I can't remember any event from before I was 8 years old."

Involuntarily Ivy's hand shot out of her pocket and to her short blonde hair. She had been wearing a beanie, she remembered because she was wearing the same beanie today, but Moet snatched it away. Moet's long black hair was left in a ponytail but it was still out in the open. Even though she didn't participate in the murder one might have gotten loose. Ivy began to panic, something unlike her. "G-good point. Unless the blood soaked the hair and you can't see it." She knew with every fiber of her being that Nelly knew what she was doing and was only comforting herself.

Moet nodded and listened silently. At the very end she perked up and stepped close to Lukas. "Why do you think that is?" She pretended to be inspecting something and took a note about Lukas in the middle page of her note book again.

She kept inspecting the room, looking for pieces of hair. "With the hair, we can eliminate many suspects. For example, the size of the hair. And the color, of course. If we're lucky, we can even run a DNA exam on it!"

Lukas sighed and crossed his arms. "I don't know. Nelly told me that maybe, just maybe I felt some kind of traumatic experience that made me forget everything. It's like my brain locked away that memory. The only thing I remember is being all alone in the street. Then I went to the orphanage."

Ivy cleared her throat and walked closer to Nelly, pretending to search with her. "How easy would it be to get a DNA test done?" She asked. Maybe if it were too hard she and Moet could pretend they knew a guy and pin the blame on some other guy. It was all incredibly risky and would set them back a lot.

Moet nodded and patted Lukas elbow once. "I'm sorry." She said. It was true that when people went through something terrible at a young age their mind locks away the memory so they don't have to carry it for the rest of their life. Or they develop and attachment disorder like Ivy did, and people can hurt or kill at the age of 6 without remorse. They can't trust any one or give love not to mention accept it. She was glad Lukas had taken the other route, because Ivy was hard enough to deal with as it is. "Anything suspicious in here?" Moet asked. She could find nothing herself and didn't feel the need to look.

"..Not too easy.." Nelly sighed. "Sure, a blood test would be ridiculously easier, but it would be hard as hell to spot any other blood other than the victim's in this mess." She kept looking, now getting under the furniture to take a closer look, being careful not to disturb the crime scene.

The boy sighed softly and smiled. "Thanks. But it's alright now, I got Nelly." He scratched his head and frowned, "And honestly.. I think it would've been worse if I did remember the incident.. or whatever happened.." Lukas's life got a turn to the better when he met Nelly. She sure was like a big sister for him, always taking care and looking after him. And he was glad that Nelly felt the same; she had told him about how he almost filled the gap left behind by her brother's death. Sure, he couldn't really replace him, but it really was something. "Oh, um.. No, not any sign of struggle. Whoever the killer was, they didn't kill right away. I suppose it was a premeditated murder since if they came without the intend to kill, they would have had some kind of fight before the murder happened, so probably there would have spilled drinks, broken vases, or things like that."

Ivy heaved a relieved sigh and kicked herself. That might have been taken the wrong way, and she was ready to insist that it was an annoyed sigh. "Is there anything you want me to do to help out?" Ivy asked, stretching.

"The cops were right, this guy is pretty good." Moet said and made her way to the table in the living room. On the long wooden dining table which was sloppily covered with a crocheted tablecloth a mac laptop sat. She opened the laptop and turned it on, only later did it occur to her that she should have worn gloves or something. She shrugged, muttered an "it can't be helped", and was glad to find that there was no password on the laptop. Grinning she looked around for a seat. There were no other chairs except for hers, and the table was pushed against the wall anyway. "I guess you can kneel next to me, we'll hack together. So how did Nelly and you get so close? Chemistry?" She turned in the seat and crossed her hands on her skirt, inspecting Lukas.

"Hmm... ah, I think it's best to leave it for today." She sighed. "I'll see if the foreinsic party will figure something out... but I think we should call it for today."

He smiled as he watched the girl. It would be useful to look inside the archives, maybe there would be some clues.. even if it was intruding, it was still investigation based. He kneeled next to the girl and blinked at her. "Oh, me and Nelly? Well.. she kinda took me in, you know..." He scratched his head and smiled at that thought. "It's as I said, she took care of me when I needed someone, and she somewhat made the role of big sister, some people even say she's motherly."

Ivy nodded in agreement (and relief) and turned to open the door, stepping to the side so that Nelly could go through first. Ivy looked down at her feet and avoided Nelly's eyes. She was thankful that Moet suggested they do this because Nelly was no joke. She was good at what she did in a carefree way and Ivy couldn't imagine how Nelly would react if she found out the truth. A strong urge to wrap her hands around Nelly's throat passed through her but she just clenched her fists. "Let's find the others." She stated gingerly.

Moet grinned as her fingers tapped the keyboard. The movements were light and jerky, as if her fingers had minds of their own and just drank a lot of coffee. She looked down at Lukas as he spoke, pausing her tapping momentarily. She had found out about a website made up of computer geeks and was currently trying to get onto the website. The code was a series of phrases and numbers that she had taken to memory and she figured she wouldn't forget it just talking to Lukas. "She does look like you, besides the hair and eyes of course. She isn't old enough to be your mother though... I hope. I can't really tell with that white hair." She stifled a laugh and hoped that didn't seem rude.

Nelly sighed in disappointment and walked outside, thanking Ivy for stepping aside. "Oh man.. I sure hoped that we could figure this out today. But it seems like we'll have to try harder." She nodded. "Right, we have to ask them if they made any progress.."

Lukas was amazed with how fast that girl could type! Holy crap! He looked at the site and tilted his head a little. He wasn't too good with that sort of thing, so he just stared at it with amazement and confusion. When Moet spoke, he looked at her and chuckled at her comment about Nelly's hair. "You think so? People say that sometimes, but I think that's because we're always together." The boy shrugged, "But no, no, she's only 2 years older than me. She's 19 and I'm 17." He said with a smile.

Ivy looked up, getting over her sudden frustration and going back to stupid old Ivy. "You could figure a case out in a day?" Ivy muttered and closed the door behind them. She filled her lungs with clean air and patted Nelly on the back a little harder than she wanted to. "Glad to get out of there, huh? Let's go." Ivy ran ahead of Nelly, down the hall and to the living room where Moet was sitting with Lukas. Moet was nodding and about to open her mouth to say something but Ivy laughed a hearty "Ha ha ha!"

"What's this all of a sudden?" Moet snapped, throwing a glare at her sister. Without waiting for an answer Moet began typing again. "Lukas looks like he's proposing. Or about to." Ivy replied and hummed Here Comes The Bride. Moet pressed enter and the website opened up as she jumped out of her seat. "Don't be an idiot. Here, Lukas, see if this website says anything about hacking into email accounts." She stepped away from the chair and walked to the bathroom, bumping her shoulder against Ivy's as she passed.

"Don't pee on any evidence!" Ivy yelled after her.

Nelly nodded. "When it's a rather simple case, yes. But this one doesn't look that simple.." she sighed and looked back at the room. "It sure is a lot better to be out of that room. It smells." said Nelly with a frown. She felt it a little odd that Ivy wanted to get away from there as fast as possible. Then again, that room wasn't very pleasant to stay in. She shrugged that thought off and walked to the room, then giggling at Ivy's statement.

The younger investigator looked at them with surprise, a light blush taking place on his cheeks. "Wha-whaaat???" He looked at himself and scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "Y-yeah, I am kneeling and all.." He quickly got up and cleaned his throat, trying to regain his composure. "A-ahem.. let me see.." He sat on the chair and began inspecting the website, and Nelly walked to him and looked at the site as well.

Ivy wrapped her arms around both people and rested her chin on Nelly's shoulder. "What kind of site is this?" Ivy asked, squinting at the screen. It had a computer icon on the top and the name of the website was so nerdy that Ivy blocked it out of her mind instinctively. There was a list of threads under one huge forum, which is probably what the site was. Every time there was a new post the thread that was updated the most recently zoomed to the top of the list. There were countless numbers of topics and Ivy sighed. "Try and see if there's a search box."

Lukas stiffened with Ivy's arm, but tried not to demonstrate his awkwardness. "U-uh, well, it's a site that teaches how to hack things, apparently." he said briefly. Nelly noticed his nervousness and smirked, but remained quiet. It was kinda cute to see him like this; he had never really been someone comfortable to much contact, except from Nelly, who was like a big sister to him.

Nelly tilted her head and blinked. "Oh, this little thing right here.." She got the mouse from Lukas's hand and clicked on a little box to type into. "That's a search box, isn't it? Let's see..."

"Search if there's something teaching how to hack email accounts." The boy told Nelly.

"What if we find something personal?" Ivy asked and pulled her new investigation partners closer to her. "Like sexts... only with emails." She whispered. Suddenly a hand slammed against the back of Ivy's head and her blonde hair was pulled roughly. Her hair began to feel like needles against her head and she hissed in pain as her head was brought up by her sister. Moet pulled Ivy closer to her, still holding her hair, and growled in her sister's ear quietly. "Get serious about this. We'll talk later, I have an idea."

Moet filled the space left by her sister and sighed, composing herself. "Sorry about that..."

Both investigators frowned at the thought of finding something so.. outrageous. Well, nothing wrong with it, no, but it would be a lot embarassing, that's for sure. Lukas looked at Nelly with the corner of his eyes and grimaced, and she couldn't help but make a brief giggle of his reaction. The two of them almost had a heart attack when Ivy was attacked by her sister. Gosh, that was something they would never do to each other. "O-oh..." Nelly began, "I-it's alright.."

Lukas looked at Moet and nodded to the computer screen. "Here, we're finding some useful things.. you probably understand this better, so do you want to take a look at it?"

Moet could tell that she had made things awkward by hurting her sister, but the damn girl wouldn't listen to any one unless she was hurt. Determined to make up for it she leaned down and began to scan through the laptop. She looked past the warning, which only consisted of how to avoid being detected by the police. Lukas and Nelly could cover for them, if anything. She also skipped over something that gave instructions on what to do if you had never been in contact with the person. Finally, at the end of the long decorated post, she got instructions on how to do it if she had the person's laptop. The first instruction was: "Make sure their email isn't remembered by the computer, idiot." Moet closed her eyes and sighed, feeling exactly like an idiot. She checked and the email wasn't up so she continued reading, but it looked like it would take a while.

Ivy rubbed the back of her head and groaned weakly. "This is child abuse, right guys?"

The boy looked at the screen as Moet was reading the instruction. "Do you think you can make it?" he asked quietly to her, curious about the contents of the emails. He couldn't help but hope there was some dirty secret in there. That would at least help in the investigation.. right?

Nelly looked at Ivy and scratched the back of her head. "Well.. that was a bit harsh.." She kinda agreed with her; in her belief, siblings shouldn't fight each other. They had to be supportive and nice! Well, that's what she thought, anyway..

"I don't know..." Moet replied, ignoring Nelly but getting the message completely. She did feel a little bad but remorse is useless when you're dealing with a girl whose sister can't even fathom the idea of it. "Thank goodness whoever wrote this thinks highly of himself, he's writing this like he's talking to 5-year olds. Lucky for us right?" She understood much of what the nerd had written and she followed his instructions in finding the history and pressing a series of buttons on the keyboard. "This is pretty easy, you wanna try?"

"I wish you were my sis Nells!" Ivy exclaimed, going to the living room and plopping down on the couch. Some movement out of the corner of her eye made her sit up straight and she very briefly thought it was a ghost. That's stupid. Ivy thought but let a shiver run through her anyway. "I found his cat, guys."

"Ah, no thanks.." Lukas said quickly. He didn't understand much of the hacking system, so he'd rather let Moet do it. He looked at Ivy and smiled, "Nelly is indeed a good sister." he said from his experience. Since he started living with her, Lukas had been treated like Nelly's young brother. She took care of him when he needed the most, and that's why they had a great bond.

"Aw shucks..." Nelly scratched the back of her head and smiled, a faint blush appearing on her cheeks. "Thanks.. You're making me blush!" she watched Ivy sit on the couch and blinked in surprise when she told them about the cat. "You found it?? Where is it?" she asked, walking over to Ivy and letting Lukas and Moet on the computer. Lukas didn't follow her to Ivy, but he watched their movements, as he was curious about the cat as well.

Ivy jumped up from the couch and approached the cat, who was sitting in the corner. Once it noticed her coming it turned it's blue eyes sleepily in her direction and Ivy stopped walking, looked away, and pretended she wasn't interested in the cat. The cat looked away and licked it's paw. Ivy took this chance to advance and she and the cat went back and forth this way for a while until she got close enough that it hissed at her. There was some red on it's nuzzle and not the rest of it's black and white body. When it hissed it's teeth showed small bits of meat. "OH GRODY YOU GUYS!" Ivy cried, reeling backwards. "The damn cat ate a piece of her owner before the police got here!"

Moet slid back into the seat she was sitting in before, now alone with the computer. She managed to bring up a small black box with different symbols and letters in white. With the instructions on the other tab she managed to edit some of the symbols and add letters of her own. It was going to take a while judging by the length of instructions she found, but her fingers worked quickly and Moet managed to unlock all accounts owned by the victim on the computer. "Booyah." She breathed and opened the man's email account. Her excitement quickly faded when she heard what Ivy had said. She turned quickly, her hair smacking the computer screen like a whip, and she leaned forward to try and see the cat more closely.

Lukas watched Moet figure out thise things with an amazed expression. Boy, she was good..! If he tried to do that, he'd end up sending an email to himself, or getting a virus inside that computer. He really wasn't good with those things, he only knew basics of computers. Nelly was also bad with them, so he didn't have the chance to learn it from someone.

When Ivy said those words, both investigators looked at her with shock and disgust. "WHAT?!?!?!" the female yelled in shock and frowned. "EW EW EW EW!!!!!!" Lukas said in disgust.
