Fantasy Cursed Island

Fia looked over at Nyah and smiled. "Yeah, that'd be great! Thanks!"

Shuffle tilted her head. "What you mean by take care of her feathers?"

"Well," Nyah conjured an image of a bird, "When birds are taking care of their feathers, they use their beaks to pick out shed feathers, grime, and stuff." The image of the bird started preening its feathers, "Sometimes bird beastfolk struggle to do that, because they don't have a beak." The image changed to a humanoid bird beastfolk, "But they usually have thumbs to serve that end. Aarakocra have both," she conjured an image of an aarakocra to elaborate, "But harpies like Fia have neither."

Fia nodded. "And if I don't pick that stuff out, I won't be able to fly as good. Usually I have to find a stick and hold it in my mouth."

"Oh. I'm glad I don't have to do that with my fur."

Shuffle nodded and lifted her arm to look through her fur. "Yeah. There's nothing in it now though. Just moss."

Nyah started up another story to keep Shuffle and Fia occupied until dinner, during which time Adran and Jerry finished their individual projects and came out from their workspaces. Adran had made a new quiver, which had an extremely weak fiend attached to it to retrieve lost arrows, and the arrows themselves, being fletched with phoenix feathers, had the contents on fire, but didn't burn anything, Adran wasn't stupid. Jerry in turn had taken her tools to the stylus and made it more like a pen, using her spider sprite to make amore comfortable grip and create a holster for the stylus and eraser.

Veo seemed to have relaxed on her fear that Emil may lose consciousness again, and now was looking for something to do. She'd ended up bothering Corona to see if she could do anything with the centaur's hair.

Corona blinked at Veo's offer. "My hair? Mm, I've never tried to style it before. I guess I wouldn't mind." She took a moment to lay her equine half down so it would be easier to reach her head.

Veo smiled and then rushed back to her tent to go get her hairbrush, coming back with it and setting to work. Due to dungeon and lack of hairbrush, Corona had a lot of knots in her hair.

Corona made a face every time a knot had to be pulled. She was at least glad she hadn't said "it couldn't hurt." She could appreciate looking good though, so she endured.

"Sorry!", Veo winced at every face Corona made, "At least we should only have to do this once, right?" Once the knots were worked out, straightening the hair was much easier, as was styling it into the thick braid that came out. "You have beautiful hair," Veo noted, "You should take better care of it."

"I try, urgh, some times. I just don't usually make the time to stop and mess with it much." Her was naturally somewhat straight, so that part at least was simple enough.

"Well, if you don't make the time, you'll brush your hair one day and go bald," Veo chuckled, "A lot's already come out, you've got thick hair."

Corona grimaced. "I don't think I'd look good bald... Ugh, and I'd lose the streak that's there, too."

“Thanks. That’s natural, by the way. A lot people think I put that there myself, but I was actually born with it.”

"You'd have a bunch of dye to touch it up, if it wasn't," Veo chuckled. "There, I think that's the last knot." She passed the brush through a few times to make sure as she finished straigtening.

“Well, that’s good to know. I hadn’t realized it was quite so knotted. I’ll have to see about getting a travel brush.”

"Maybe," Veo shrugged, "I carry my brush everywhere. My vines don't make it easy, but..." She started separated sections of hair for what she was going to do with Corona's hair. "So would you like anything in particular?"

“Ah, not really. I’ve always just left it straight and loose, so I don’t really know how anything else looks.”
