Fantasy Cursed Island

Shuffle and Fia lifted their heads and looked over for a moment before registering the offer of food. They smiled before hurrying over to get their share.

Erina looked over as Jerry spoke. “Ah, yes. I saw you and Adran coming back to camp earlier and... Well, it looked bad. Him being blindfolded and you being half dressed, the both of you returning from the woods together. I was just hoping for some clarity.”

Nyah smiled and shared out treats between the two. "Don't make yourselves sick," she warned. She'd made sure nothing in the treats could be fermented into anything bad if Shuffle ate it, so that wasn't a worry.

Jerry raised an eyebrow, "I've been working on something for Asta, and I needed Adran's spells for it. It's supposed to be a surprise."

Shuffle looked at Nyah as she ate. “Is that possible?”

“Ah, I should’ve guessed. Alright. Thank you for clearing that up.”

Nyah nodded, "Your tummy can only hold so much, and if you get sick it's hard to keep food down."

"Well I have something I need you to clear up," Jerry sighed, "Earlier, when you were measuring Asta."

"I've never had that problem either, I don't eat."

"Yeah," Jerry nodded, "I hope it's just a misunderstanding, but it looked like you were getting very... feely with him."

Shuffle and Fia giggled, taking that as a joke, before Fia spoke up. “Have you tried? Or can you just not?”

“What? I wasn’t. Not intentionally, at least. I was simply measuring him.”

"I don't have a stomach, and I'm made of smoke." Nyah shrugged, "I live on mana."

Jerry nodded, "Alright, I trust you, but Asta got the feeling and I'm trying really hard to make up for lying to him for so long, so I'm watching." If it turned out Erina had been giving Jerry relationship advice for her and Asta and then turned around to go try and get with him, one of them was going to end up on Veo's table near death.

“That’s cool. And kind of sad, too.”

Shuffle nodded. “Eating’s a lot of fun.” She looked down at the snacks, a bit sad she could t share them with Nyah.

Erina nodded. “Of course. You have your man and I have mine. I don’t intend to change that.”

"It's not bad, at least I don't think so," Nyah shrugged, "Even if I didn't live on mana, my form isn't solid enough to hold solid matter for long enough to digest."

Jerry smiled, "Good. I'd hate to have to stab you over that."

“Digesting isn’t the fun part though. It’s tasting it.”

Erina chuckled. “And I’d hate to be stabbed. Glad we’re on the same page.”

"I'm sure you find it so."

Jerry rolled her eyes, "Well if you need me I'll be in my tent." She turned to walk off and go back to her tent and organize some things.

“Mm... I hope someday I can find a way for you to taste something.”

Erina nodded and got back to work.

Back at the training yard, Asta panted as there was a pause in his training.

"I'm sure I could simulate taste with magic, but I don't really want to," Nyah shrugged, "It doesn't help me do my job."

Joanne was likewise tired. "You are quite energetic," she noted, sitting down with her sword across her lap.

“Mm, alright.”

Asta chuckled as he likewise sat down. “Sounds like you’re talking to Shuffle. I suppose I do have a lot of stamina though.”

"An abundance of energy is very helpful in many applications," Joanne agreed, "You might find uses for it in surprising places." Jerry had originally tamed this chimera for protection, and now that Asta was learning to protect in his human form as well, that protection would likely only advance to many places more.

Asta gave a nod. “Yes, I believe you’re right...” His mind jumped back to what little he remembered of the drunk night, but he shook his head to dismiss the thoughts. Now was not the time.

Joanne smiled, "I believe that is enough training for today. Rest your limbs, you will need them when we continue tomorrow."

Asta nodded as he turned off the blade. “Right.”

Elsewhere in camp, Corona was entertaining herself by twirling her spear around. She was actually really good at it.

Joanne nodded and went to where armor and weapons were stored and started to remove her armor to go bathe.

Elsewhere, Emfa had resumed her deforestation efforts, dropping trees for firewood at probably a much higher rate than she should have. She didn't even realize Corona was there until a tree had a critical existence failure and dropped to the side, dropping the blind between them. "I am so glad you weren't in that direction," Emfa noted when she saw the centaur.

Corona looked over as the tree fell over, still spinning her spear as nodded. “Me too. What do you need the- ow.” She decided to stop twirling as whacked herself with the butt of the spear. “What do you need the wood for?”

“Ah, that makes sense.” Corona rubbed her head as she spoke. “I usually just twirl my spear, but I do that when I’m bored, too.”

'Yeah, well, Urodor broke my horn, and I can't grow it back for another six years." Emfa shook her head, "So i destroy things."
