Shifting through the dark distorted world around them, the Agrigore would find himself covering ground farther away from the rest of the group. His singular gleaming eye scanned his surroundings like a spotlight determining whatever is tangible and intangible. What's edible and what's not. His long pointed ears swiveled erratically towards any form of unusual noise like radar dishes, keeping alert to the whispers saying what sounded like sweet nothings ringing in the dead wind. The globster meanwhile leaned close to his master's side cautiously doing his own reconnaissance. He wasn't nearly as adventurous but was nonetheless determined to please his master within the current parameters. All the while would they loosely follow the cigar waft left by their target.

Then the wind began picking up, brewing the ash around and forming ghostly entities of the dead. From the gloom, the Agrigore could make out four individuals: two skeletal knights, a coated man with a miniature cannon in hand, and an alchemist prepping flasks of vile substances. He could har them fixed their attentions on only a select few individuals - Zolgen, Naori and Dreayth respectively - swearing vengeance over their assailants. Even Rosette sounded as if she'd gained the energy of malicous hatred course through her veins, being somewhat of an unexpected outcome. Though any entity within the presence of monsters would reveal their dark sides eventually in one way or another.

Yet no hostile spirits seemed to dare challenge the Agrigore.

But that didn't mean they were watching him. The cyclops could feel their gaze flickering over them curiously. They were searching through him, trying to pry the sins locked behind his consciousness. Or so they'd try. Perhaps it was his [Mind Shield F] that helped safe-guard his consciousness from prying eyes. Maybe his recent reincarnation had shed him of major sin that his old form gathered over the many centuries? After all, he was smitten by a holy power. Or if they truly knew who he was - and the amount atrocities he's committed - they feared to unleash the rage and malice dwelling within him, ready to burst out at anyone and anything.

Whatever the case, with the enemies focused elsewhere he currently found himself at a unique advantage.

Using the ashy mist as cover, the Agrigore hastily scuttles forth in a stealthy burst of speed to get behind an archway. The globster would just be able to keep up right behind it, just in time as a skeleton knight was directly on the other side. Though once they got into position, the Agrigore gave several quiet clicks towards his minion, ordering him to stay behind enemy lines. The globster warbles as he separates with his master, morphing into its liquid form as it advanced further into the fray.

The Agrigore creeps up behind the skeleton knight, eying its raised stance and reeking of necrotic energy. Its blade glowed a faint pale light, with rippling laugher emanating madly from it. He knew better not to get himself too close... He'd have to strike from a safe distance. And once he was in range, the Agrigore extended one of his arms and struck the beast twice with a deadly fury of swipes and scratches. He attempted to rip bones from his legs or even an arm holding up his great sword so that he can safely dispatch him properly face to face.

Zolgen

The demon looked around the area hearing those echos. The whole place wasn't unlike when he had to go through that strange fae dimension not all that long ago, it had equally disorientating/distracting things going on in its landscape. Not to mention the air distorting occasionally, and more obviously shadows which were now writhing on the ground, ones which Zolgen half expected to start attacking them. Regardless Zolgen was used to areas which were quite chaotic on account of being a monster which hopefully would help him stay on task here.

Upon hearing the shadow respond Zolgen still wasn't sure if it was him, but based on thee other's reaction he could hope it was, they were just going to have to be ready and hope the place wasn't playing another trick on them.

Maybe a bit surprisingly, the shadows that had been moving about were not the ones to attack but instead a group seemed to appear in the distance ahead of the group.

What he hadn't been expecting was just how personal this lot seemed to be, from who appeared to how they seemed to make everyone feel.

"Watch out for that fluid!" Zolgen called out, he wasn't about to hesitate here, "#You three go! Attack who I Attack!#" He'd say to his remaining three goblins, the instructions were clear enough for them as they'd scramble after him.

Zolgen headed toward the knights. Zolgen felt invigorated, he was a lot stronger since he had last partaken in razing the village these knights were from. The tables had turned and he'd show them all again how he was the true predator.

If it were possible he'd use his first action to Move to D19 with Fast F

Then he'd use his twin blades to attack as many of the arch knights as possible. "I'll gladly kill you all again! I think you'll find I've improved since last time!" He'd let out a paradoxical laugh while he attacked.

Going into a sweeping motion with his sizable blades, for a

Dreayth began to laugh at Rosette as she cursed at the non-living. Her voice lacked bass but the words she said held vigor.

“HAHA yes, let them know little one! Let them know who you are! Make them regret messing with you!” He didn’t expect to enjoy his time with a human like herself. How unpredictable she was quite amusing.

“Now you must back your word with action little one! Death is not enough for these ghouls, show them Oblivion .” The monster would his spear and it would ignite into a burst of purple flames, that would coat his spear in a blaze of fire. “Once I find your daughter I’ll make sure to reunite you with her!”

He looked up in the sky as the volley of fluids and bullets reached the apex of their trajectory and began to fall. His comrades splitting up as they went on the offensive. The monster smirked, gripping his spear tight as he looked up as he pulled his spear back before swinging it in a wide arc.

[Blazing Domination (Fighting Style E, Super strength F, Knockback f, Blight bis F ) E grade Cooldown 1 post - Dreayth uses a wide swing and overwhelming strength.]

His strike aimed to disrupt the incoming bullet storm, however he knew that wouldn’t be enough. After the first swing he would tighten his muscles and with a strenuous groan he would attack again, utilizing [Domination F], and Again.

Dreayth would swing his spear once more, this time at the chemicals In the air. His goal, evaporating the chemicals with his fire before they make land fall.

1. Use Blazing Domination E on volley. (Fighting Style E, Super strength F, Knockback F, Blight: Hellfire F, Range F, Anchor perk: Cleave) Cooldown 1 post - Dreayth uses a wide swing and overwhelming strength to knock back his enemy.
2. follow up attack with Blazing Domination F (Fighting Style F, Super strength F, Knockack F, Blight: Hellfire F, Range F, Energized F, Anchor perk: Cleave) F grade ability - Cooldowm 0 posts
3. Use blazing Domination F + Anchor perk on incoming chemicals

BE Blazing Domination E : Str D (3) + weapon E (2) + Ability E (3) + Superstrength F (1) + follow up= 10

BE blazing Domination F = 9

Anchor perk: Cleave - As long as you wield your melee weapon with two hands, all melee attacks can hit all creatures/objects within weapon reach without use of an ability.

The Coven Battle (Siren) - Darkest Dungeon

The Initial Assault

The moment the Gunslinger’s spectral bullets and the Alchemist’s alchemical rain converge overhead, the battlefield erupts in a torrent of shrieking projectiles and sizzling droplets. Dreayth, bellowing a challenge, whips his spear in wide, fiery arcs—tendrils of purple flame scything through the descending barrage. Though his blows carve away much of the incoming salvo, too many shots still manage to slip past. A series of near-simultaneous impacts rattles his demonic frame, dark streaks scouring his arms and shoulders. He staggers, taking a moment to steady himself, battered but very much in the fight. [Dreayth takes 1 damage to HP.]

Zolgen and the Goblins attempt to dash out of the worst of the hail, following Dreayth’s partial clearing. But the Gunslinger’s ghostly rounds curve in midair, and the Alchemist’s splintering flasks scatter corrosive droplets far wider than expected. One goblin catches a direct shot square in the chest and collapses in a gasping wheeze. The second tries to dodge left, only to be hammered by a swirl of violet alchemical fluid that eats through its crude armor, dropping it face-first into the ashen ground. The last goblin flees in panic behind Zolgen, but a cluster of ricocheting bullets rips into its side. It, too, collapses in a lifeless heap. [All three Goblins die before they can act.]

Zolgen himself manages to slip through the fringes of the barrage, letting Dreayth’s residual flames burn away some of the spectral slugs. Still, a glancing shot smashes into his demonic bone plating, knocking him back a pace and leaving a smoldering impact wound. It smarts, but for now, he remains on his feet. [Zolgen takes 1 damage to Armor. Zolgen has been inflicted with fear from Skeletal Knight 1 (-1 to base effectiveness)]

Rosette tries to break from the group—rifle at the ready—but the bullets swirl behind her in a deadly, angled arc. An alchemical droplet splashes against her torso in the same moment. She staggers, eyes widening as scorching pain lances across her side. The combined strike is severe; blood matts her outfit, and she’s left reeling, in dire need of quick aid before the adrenaline fades. [Rosette has reached 0 HP. Needs to be healed in the next 3 turns. Any extra damage will knock her out.]

Naori fares the worst. Focused on reaching the Alchemist at all costs, he fails to account for the overlapping center of the barrage. A sudden fusillade tears through his defenses, hammering into his shoulder and hip. The alchemical spatter sets his wounds smoking with corrosive burn. He drops to a knee, forced to brace himself on trembling arms, awareness flickering at the edges of his vision. [Naori has reached 0 HP. Needs to be healed in the next 3 turns. Any extra damage will knock him out.]

By the time the hellish storm subsides, a pungent haze lingers in the air, acrid and charged with malice. The three goblins lie still on the ashen ground, the faint wisps of soul-energy already dissolving into the Shadowlands. Rosette staggers, badly hurt but still defiant; Naori remains upright—barely—fighting just to stay conscious.

The Counter-attack

Skeletal Knight 1 (Facing Zolgen & Agrigore)

Skeletal Knight 1
Knight.jpg
  1. Desperate Guard:
The knight raises its corroded blade, trying to brace the hilt in both hands. Jagged bits of plating clatter as the knight’s skeletal arms strain to repel both Zolgen’s twin-blade onslaught and Agrigore’s elongated claw-swipe from behind.
  2. Shattered Hubris:
A hiss of air escapes its empty jaws, forming words in a voice more reminiscent of a wind-torn grave than a living soldier:
“Your cunning… worthless… demon… We rise again… to exact the price of blood…
As it speaks, the knight edges closer to the broken arch, hoping the partial cover might deflect the worst of Agrigore’s extended reach.
  3. Flicker of Past Valor:
Faint wisps of spectral runes glow on the armor’s corroded surface, the remnants of a knightly vow or enchantment from a forgotten era. The skeleton tries to channel that power into reinforcing its sword arm, forging an unholy stand against the combined might of beast and fiend.

Skeletal Knight 2 (Facing Rosette & Zolgen)

Skeletal Knight 2
Knight.jpg
  1. Armor Up, Blade High:
The knight shifts to intercept Rosette’s close-range rifle shot, half-raising a battered buckler (if any remains) or twisting its torso to let thicker plating catch the bullet. Sparks crackle as ghostly energy collides with Rosette’s bullet.
Your arrogance means nothing here, mortal… Death’s domain bows to no one…
A hollow, scornful rasp rattles from behind its visor.
  2. Necrotic Parry:
In the same instant, Zolgen’s blade arcs in from the side. The knight whips its sword around, bony wrists popping with the strain. Bits of ash cascade off the dull metal, revealing faint unearthly glyphs etched into the steel.
    (clack… clack…) We… will… have… vengeance…
The final words are guttural and broken, tinged with rage at having been outmaneuvered in life—and determined not to repeat it in undeath.
  3. Stagger & Sneer:
Though hammered on two fronts, the knight attempts a lurching sidestep, hoping to avoid being pinned. A feral hate lingers in those glowing sockets, as if willing the rotted sinew in its limbs to endure a little longer.

The Alchemist (Facing Naori)

The Alchemist
Alchemist.jpg
  1. Arcane Shielding:
The Alchemist, still reeling from lobbing flasks, tries to conjure a ghostly barrier of swirling sigils around his torso, scowling at Naori’s bold rush.
Foul whelp… you would see me undone again?
Pale lines of necromantic script flare along his cracked skin, each signifying a different half-finished incantation.
  2. Bitter Accusation:
Despite the danger, he snarls, azure eyes blazing with pained fury:
“My daughter… I never even said goodbye… Because of you!”
A tremor in his voice hints at unresolved grief, fueling the surging wrath that shapes his defense.
  3. Tattered Cloak Maneuver:
At the last second, he snaps his ragged cloak in front of Naori’s dagger, hoping to foul the strike or guide it off-target. Faint sparks fly where blade meets cloth, as though the threads themselves carry residues of old experiments.

The Results

Skeletal Knight 1 reels under Agrigore and Zolgen’s dual pressure. Agrigore’s elastic claw-strike rips through corroded plating on its left shoulder, while Zolgen’s twin blades carve a ragged slash across the knight’s torso. A muffled shriek rattles from its hollow chest as bits of shattered bone rain onto the ashen ground. Though still upright, its once-imposing stance has grown shaky, glowing runes flickering under jagged fractures. Staggering backward, the knight braces against the broken arch for a moment—what remains of its undead zeal all that keeps it from collapsing outright.

Skeletal Knight 2 fares little better at Rosette and Zolgen’s hands. As Rosette’s bullet slams directly into a weak spot near the waist, a loud crack echoes—dislodging a chunk of spinal bone. The knight twists to deflect Zolgen’s blade, but can’t fully parry the demon’s sweeping attack; sparks of necrotic energy fizzle against steel. It lurches sideways, leaving a trail of bone fragments and spectral residue. Despite grievous wounds, it hisses in wordless fury, glowing sockets alight with hatred for the living.

Meanwhile, Naori’s dagger finds devastating purchase against the Alchemist—piercing the swirling magic he conjures in desperation. The blade cuts through his tattered robes and cracks of arcane light flare sharply, leaking ghostly ichor that spatters the ground in sizzling droplets. He staggers back, clutching at the wound. Azure eyes blaze with stunned fury, and for an instant, he seems on the verge of disintegrating. His once-proud cloak hangs in ragged strips, each embroidered glyph half-dissolved into flickering embers of cursed power. Still upright but trembling, the Alchemist glares at Naori, teeth bared in a silent snarl, before he is blown by the wind and his ashes scattered right before the teenager's eyes.

A sudden pop echoes as the Alchemist’s death-throes unsettle the carefully layered illusions sustaining the flickering streetlamp. Its ghostly glow sputters once, twice—then snuffs out in a silent plume of ash. For a breathless moment, a wave of uncanny darkness expands outward from the lamp’s base, swallowing the surroundings in an inky haze. Where once pale light revealed ashen stone and skeletal limbs, pitch-black shadow now pools, making it difficult to see even the nearest combatants. The absence of that eerie illumination heightens every echo and scraping footstep, as though the Shadowlands itself exhales a foreboding sigh at the sudden loss of its conjured beacon.

The party has the initiative

Naori’s gamble had paid off to an extent, he managed to defeat Thaddeus’s soul. And surprisingly quickly to boot but the risk was still a risk and carried the consequences of such actions currently he couldn’t dally if he died here he couldn’t find the immortality he searched for. If he died here he couldn’t make Hiroshi a construct and provide him with a better vessel. If he died he’d be useless in battle.

Needless to say, for now he’d deal with the consequence then aid the others in combat while he was not in direct harm’s way. There couldn’t be any delay in anything this was one of those situations, places and they had a strict deadline. Fortunately when you experiment with bodies as often as Naori has you pick up a thing or two.

Naori used his dagger to cut off a piece of clothing from his jacket, and would further more use his dagger as a catalyst, using [Medicine [E]] to provide the knowledge for an attempt at some basic healing to get his health up. How this would fair only time would tell.

Actions:
1. Cut off some cloth from his jacket for makeshift bandages
2.use [makeshift healing [E] on wounds
3. Wrap the cloth around the wounds

Ability:
Makeshift healing- Medicine [E], Magic [E] , Affinity [water] [F]- Naori uses a makeshift spell in an attempt to heal wounds only effects one target - E grade- 1 post cooldown

Coupled with Zolgen's strike, the Agrigore was able to deal significant damage to the skeletal knight. Its airy gasps weren't nearly as satisfying compared to lively mortals crying for mercy or even bugs screeching in agony, but it was definitely a sign of it being harmed. It hissed at the "demon's" cunning, calling it worthless and gloated how they will rise again to spill blood one day. Yet instead of continuing to enact his supposed promise, the knight continued to hide behind the arch way as it fought Zolgen opposite of him. The Agrigore hissed annoyedly. An annoying setback but one that can be easily rectified.

Recoiling both of his long and lanky digitigrade legs, the Agrigore hurled himself high into the air and landed atop the archway. Now looming over his prey, he could see the flaring wisps of his runes attempting to solidify his sword arm from being easily lopped off. Clever, but it wouldn't be enough. The Agrigore looked down at the skeleton knight with a nightmarish stare before using his pincer-like tail to wrap around and began pulling with all of his mighty. "#AAAAAAGRIGORRRRRRE!#" the vile cyclops screeched, vowing to dismantle it and add its bones to his bony armor like all the other victims he so ruthlessly dispatched. While he couldn't see Zolgen due to the sudden change of visibility within the lamp's radius, he wasn't too worried about his condition at this very moment.

Meanwhile the lone globster heard several nearby shots coming from close by followed by echoed curses towards allies unseen. It spots the gunslinger from his concealed liquid state and approaches silently. Just like what his master had done with the Sentinel, it attempted to sneakily get right underneath (or almost right underneath) the distracted gunslinger to prepare for an ambush. Once in position, the globster's sticky form latched onto his prey's feet and began rapidly ascending up his legs and torso in an attempt to restrain and smother him. Its goopy body attempted to stick his arms and legs to his body, as the pudding man's putrid face peers from the top most part of his ascent with a gurgling moan. It then proceeded to wind his head back and attempt to bite at his foe's head with its jagged teeth.

Agrigore Actions:
  1. Jumps ontop of B. Arch with [Jumping F]. [C19].
  2. Grapples Skeleton Knight 1's sword arm with his long pincered tail. = [Elasticity F]
  3. Begins pulling on sword arm to detach it from foe. [Elascticity F] + [Superstrength F]
Globster Actions:
  1. [In Change State: Liquid] Moves "silently" behind the gunslinger. [D24 --> F24 --> F23]
  2. Grapples Gunslinger with ooze slowly trying to encapsulate victim's body and restrain him.
  3. Attacks Gunslinger with a [Slobbering Bite F] to the head.
Slobbering Bite F - [Natural Weapons F, Fighting Style (Globster) F] - Globster lunges forth to bite its opponent. It can reach an additional 5 feet due to its viscous form.

Searing pain filled Rosette's world. Yet, she witnessed her rifle shot blowing a part of the skeleton away. Then just before the lamplight snuffed out she witnessed Naori killing the Alchemist.

...Thank goodness.... Her thoughts echoed loudly in her own mind as her vision began to darken around the edges.

Every breath she took was filled with pain, and her body felt so terribly cold. She felt so tired that she just wanted to lay on the ground and sleep. She had never felt so much pain in her life, not even when her mother had Lilibeth stab her in the kidney so that she could practice fighting while injured. She now wished she had taken the time to learn healing from her father. What a mistake she had made she thought, and now she could only feel remorse for having scoffed at his offer. a small sad smile formed on her blood flecked lips.

...Healing? hahahah, Papa, I use a gun...when will I ever be close enough to get hurt.... Her words to her father had been filled with mockery and now that same mockery was thrown at her in her own voice.

She didn't know whether to laugh or to cry. She couldn't see the skeleton knight, but she knew he wasn't dead. She couldn't see the gunman, but he was so much more dangerous than the knight. She couldn't see Master Destieen nor Master Zolgen within the deeper darkness that had descended with the loss of the lamp's light. She knew Master Dreayth was safe somewhere behind her, but Young Master Agrigore was nowhere to be seen. In that moment she felt so alone, and so lonely. This was the fate of man, to die lonely and alone. She felt the bitterness of life biting into her like a savage animal.

Naori's warning came back to her in this moment....If you die It's on you....

Rosette's smile widened some; becoming a just a bit more beautiful despite the blood staining them a deeper crimson. She took heart from those words, and from the strength of her companions. They had survived many thing and she would do the same. Her hands, trembling in pain, brought her rifle to bear once more.

" Master Zolgen, I shall join you in the Dark!" she shouted in a voice tainted with pain and weariness.

She took a few deep unsteady breaths. She summoned the full of her will. She was a competent and well trained combat maid after all. Even her Grandmother had said so. Now, she would try to prove it, even if only to herself. Silently she apologized to the Masters for misjudging her combat skill and causing them trouble. Then very resolutely she began to move forward. She would attempt to attack the skeleton she had already shot. She knew his last position and if she was quick she would catch it before it moved. No doubt it could see her coming she thought. Therefore, She would feign that she could see it, and would rush forward in a dash. If she felt the barrel connect with that nasty armor or it's creepy bones she would fire and if not she would brace for the inevitable sword strike that would end her life.

1. Rush forward from e16 to e19 or e18 whichever is the appropriate one for the described action
2. If she makes contact she will use her entry team ability ( Entry Team - Marksmanship F, Range F, Insight F, Accurate F, Steady Hands F, Incurable F - Allows Rosette to make super fast, accurate, and deadly shots at very close range and while moving with out needing to stop to aim- Grade F - 0 Post Cooldown (picture some John wick type shit) - 10ft range- base effectiveness: 8 )
3. if she doesn't make contact she will act as defensively as a person unable to see can attempt.

Dreayth stood his ground as the remaining debris crashed into his frame, the chemicals from the liquid along with shrapnel of metal cutting and severing his skin, he’d steady his footing once again before grinning.

Not enough power, more..I need MORE!

The calmness he had possessed began to wane as he felt the need for blood rush into his mind. The purple in his eyes began to glow, the monsters dark vision igniting as he peered through the dark shadows.

“Found ya!” He smiled as he bursted into a sprint utilizing [Fast F], the bastard needed to reload. Unless he had another weapon, he wouldn’t be able to attack soon providing a small window. He rushed past Rossette and into the fog, disappearing as shadows wrapped around his body. From inside he would roar, Don’t die yet..child… followed by maniacal cackling.

He continued his movement without a wasted until he was on the other side, his senses honing in on his target until he was right in front of him.
In a burst of flames, Dreayth emerged from the black fog. His spear in two hands as swept it through, his trajectory set on cleaving right through the the gunslinger.

While Zolgen had attacked feeling stronger than last time when everything was said and done, many of his allies just got injured pretty badly on the battlefield, thankfully only his armor had been damaged, but still it hadn't felt great, the hit being stronger than he had assumed it would be, the goblins were outright dead too, which wasn't the end of the world there'd be more in the tribe which he could bring along later, but Rosette and Naori took real beatings it seemed from the attacks of their adversaries.

Worse yet, while Zolgen got his attacks in, it didn't finish his foes off, and even if albeit briefly he felt the same feeling of concern when he had dealt with the group of five guards with the spears in their living form, when he wasn't entirely sure what he was going to do to block them when he had five of them coming at him with much fewer options to defend himself..fear? What a joke, he had to get it together, if he was concerned about his well being and survival over foes as weak as these how was he supposed to get really strong and take on even greater foes?

He wasn't going to let them make a fool out of him nor have their vengeance. And now that his allies were insistent in moving inward to attack in the now darkened space, Zolgen knew better then to try to swing around himself violently in the Aoe, particularly with the young lady saying she'd join him in the dark.

"Very well! Join me in battle! But don't you go losing consciousness on me now! We have a fight to win!" He'd proclaim, impressed somewhat with Rosette's desire to defeat their foe

"As for you both! #Resistance is futile! Your Demise is inevitable!# " He'd exclaim the last bit in monster, still brandishing his blades doing his best to not let his concern show, he'd attack in the respective directions of where he had been fighting the skeletons now that the area was dark.

First he'd swing with greater force at Skeletal Knight #2 who he and Rosette had been dealing with prior with a Demonic Twin Strike II

If one of his blades connected, then he'd follow up with the other one quickly after.

He'd then attempt for a follow up strike on Skeletal Knight #2 with a Demonic Twin Strike I

Zolgen then went for another Demonic Twin Strike I on Skeletal Knight #1, Pivoting toward them to attack, hopefully taking advantage of Agrigore's successful interference.

The Coven Battle (Siren) - Darkest Dungeon

The Assault

Skeleton Knight 2 Falls

The second skeletal knight, already weakened, endures a final dual assault from Rosette’s close-range shot and Zolgen’s sweeping twin-blade strike. In the darkness left by the snuffed lamp, the rifle muzzle slams against the knight’s battered plating, and a sharp crack resonates where ghostly energy shreds bone. At the same moment, a wide slash from demon-forged steel connects along its spine. Shattered fragments of bone clatter against ashen ground; the undead menace collapses in a heap of corroded metal, its necrotic aura flickering out.

Skeleton Knight 1’s Devastating Counter

Meanwhile, Agrigore and Zolgen converge on Skeleton Knight 1, which appears tottering from previous wounds. Despite missing chunks of armor and bone, the knight channels a powerful surge of necrotic strength. Shifting position against a broken arch, it swings its sword in a wide Cleave:

  • Agrigore’s extended limbs clash against a burst of pale runes. A sickly wave of force knocks the cyclops away from the arch, sending him crashing into a nearby ruin. Broken stone rattles down from above. [Received 2 damage + 1 from the impact. Natural armor breaks, takes 1 damage to HP]
  • Zolgen, caught in the trailing arc, is also hurled backward roughly fifteen feet. [Received 2 damage. Natural armor breaks, takes 1 damage to HP] The impact clips Rosette, who ends up prone on the cold ground, her rifle straining beneath the sudden weight until a piece of the mechanism snaps. [Rosette's rifle takes 1 damage, being brought down to Grade E]
Skeletal Knight 1
Knight.jpg

In the aftermath, the knight remains upright, tattered yet stubbornly intact, spectral runes rippling along its blade in grim triumph. Its skeletal jaw grinds open as it rasps in a wind-blown, hollow voice:

“Struck us down once… never again… your monstrous might fails you here…”

The words scrape across the ashen air, heavy with the echo of old oaths and bitter memories. An unearthly glow flares behind the knight’s empty eye sockets, and it stands poised to continue the fight despite the damage it has endured.

Gunslinger Overcome

On another front, Dreayth and the Globster assault the Gunslinger simultaneously. Attempting to reload or conjure new bullets, the undead figure raises its revolver, only to have it wrenched off-target by the Globster’s tar-like form. A final shot discharges into empty air, and then Dreayth’s flaming spear lances through the Gunslinger’s torso. Ghostly essence sloughs away, leaving only a brief flicker from the ornate revolver before it vanishes into drifting motes, its curse undone.

Naori’s Makeshift Healing

Naori, wounded but upright, cuts a strip of fabric from his jacket. Using practiced technique, he binds an open wound, halting the worst of the bleeding. The immediate danger of collapsing from blood loss is staved off, at least for now. [Naori heals 1 HP and is not on the brink of passing out any longer]

Darkness and the Last Stand

With the alchemist’s remains already faded, the flickering lamp extinguished, and two foes destroyed, only one threat endures: Skeleton Knight 1, battered yet fueled by residual wrath. Pockets of near-total darkness shroud large swaths of the battlefield—broken only by faint sparks of necrotic residue and the occasional flicker of spectral embers. Pieces of rubble, shattered bones, and corroded metal pepper the ashen ground. A sense of ominous tension grips the air as the final undead champion stands ready to continue its grim crusade.

[Rosette - 2 turns to pass out. Currently prone, 1 action to get up.]

The Counter-attack

Skeletal Knight 1
Knight.jpg

  • Action 1: Necrotic Surge
    • The knight grips its corroded blade in both hands and channels a crackling wave of pale energy through the hilt.
    • Faint runes etched in rusted metal pulse brighter, as if drawing upon the remnants of its spectral wrath. A thin radius of ash stirs around its feet, hinting at built-up necrotic power, empowering the knight even further.
  • Action 2: Forward Lunge
    • A low rasp spills from the knight’s maw: “All your struggles… wasted…”
    • It pushes off the broken arch and strides into the darkness, guided by its Darkvision. Observing who among the living is most vulnerable, it picks two targets—Rosette on the ground and Zolgen still reeling—and closes in with a measured, predatory gait.
    • Armor plates rattle against one another in a hollow cadence; each step crushes bone fragments underfoot, as though an echo of its own decaying condition.
  • Action 3: Sweeping Cleave
    • Upon reaching striking distance, the knight swings its weapon in a broad arc—aimed at both regaining momentum and battering any foe within range. [Targeting both Rosette and Zolgen]
    • Pale sparks skitter across the sword’s edge, wisps of necrotic power trailing behind the blade in a ghostly afterimage. Ash swirls around the slash path, marking a horizontal streak in the dark.

As the Agrigore's tail lashed out at the skeletal warrior, his foe would counter with a wave of necrotic energy that burst from its runes. He could feel the resistance pressing against him with its cursed magic, denying his chance to finish the killing blow. Then the energy burst outwards in an arch and slams into the monster's chest with violent force, feeling as if it was being eaten away by the vile magic plaguing it. "#GRAAAAAAAAAGH!#" it screeched furiously as it was forced off the arch. The wave sent the Agrigore flying into the ruins several meters away to the right with a thunderous CRASH!.

Pieces of armored bone and spines upon his back and shoulders broke and shattered upon the harsh impact, unravelling his long period regeneration from the acid bath back in the bug cavern. He also felt bits of his essence escape him, dripping from his mouth, chest and back. Had he not been able to regenerate said armor the mighty Agrigore would've most likely fallen in battle; a black splat against the wall. The Agrigore let out a gurgled groan before falling to the ground, only to be covered by broken rock falling from above. It too caused further minor damage to his back and head, chipping off a ragged horn and slicing off a tip of its ear.

Covered by debris, it seemed to the others nearby that the Agrigore had fallen by the skeletal warrior's hand. It gave a triumphant victory speech before returning to the inky void to engage Zolgen and the others. The air now was still... nothing stirred from the rubble for several seconds.

Then a clawed hand burst from the pile and the monster proceeded to rise from his "grave" in a slow yet ominous reveal. His limbs mangled back into place, his claws tensed, all while his single eye squinted angrily at his position. Despite his battered visage, the Agrigore was not out of the fight yet. And he was most certainly pissed.

Howling Roar

Once out of the rubble, he howled into the inky black sky with rage in his eye and breath. It bolted towards the inky abyss with animalistic fury, galloping on all four lanky legs as his [Dark Vision F] attempted to pinpoint where his skeletal nemesis was. Once finding him, the Agrigore was dead set to eliminate him by his own hand. With a terrifying screech he leaped into the ait and attempted to pounce on the knight and rip into its boney mass.

Meanwhile, the globster had successfully subdued the gunslinger and with help from Dreayth they were able to eliminate the pesky opponent. It gave a positive gurgle towards the giant demon man flickering in and out of the dark lamp's visage followed by an award-winning smile of his mangled teeth. It was quite pleased that it was able to help. Yet as he heard his master's cry to arms his whole body turned to see him running straight into the inky black cloud... to where there final victim was ready for the slaughter. And so it too would make its way into the pitch black abyss...

The pitch-black darkness made it hard for the globster to see through, being barely able to follow Dreayth and the sounds of battle. It'd simply keep pushing forward in the same direction to try and assist his master. Yet suddenly the mass thought it saw something to the right... a twisted metal post with a faintly glowing orb flickering in and out of existence. A curious sight indeed... but something seemed to draw the curious pudding man in. It approached the lamp with aching curiosity, wrapping its body around the metal post as its singular congealed eye observed the flashing orb. It then begins harassing it with its arms, trying to make it move or do anything before beginning to gnaw and suck on it like a baby to a chew toy.

It had to do something... right?

Rosette had been clipped by a powerful attack, most likely from the other skeleton knight, though she couldn't see where it had come from. In her weakened state she fell hard on the cold ground. Pain welled up from her wounds. Vomit mixed with blood burst from her mouth as she felt the rifle crack under the weight of her fall. Her vision dimmed briefly and she felt as if she might black out from pain and loss of blood. Her body was so cold and she could feel her life slipping away by the second. She would not live for long she knew and so while her body could still function she had to make use of it.

There were other enemies they had to defeat. Her body trembled as she began to drag herself to her feet. The words of the Skeleton warrior, bragging over her and over her companions, filled her with anger. Anger that pushed the pain to the side. Anger that fueled her body's movements. She quickly felt for the broken places on her rifle, smiling to herself when she found it still serviceable. This skeletal sinner needed to be culled like chaff from the good wheat, a job fit for a capable maid. Therefore Rosette, part time angel of death, would send this skeleton to the tentacle beast even if it cost her life. The sound of it's corroded armor, and it's raspy voice allowed her to roughly guess it's location.

She dove to a new position performing a tactical roll to land close in to where she could hear the skeleton knight moving. In this way she hoped to accomplish three things. First to catch the skeleton knight off guard. The second would be to avoid any incoming attacks from her target. Lastly she wished to avoid both her allies incoming attacks as well as prevent herself from harming them with her own. There would be no friendly fire on Rosette's watch. At least, if it was under her control in even a small way.

Her tactical roll would hopefully leave her kneeling before the skeleton knight where she would thrust her rifle into it just as she had the last one. If her rifle made contact with the skeleton warrior she would fire on it with her close-quarters battle ability. If it connected with anything she feared might be an ally or if it didn't connect with anything she would not fire even if it caused her to be wounded. Rosette was keenly aware that her companions would be eager to savagely attack this mouthy ghost and with good reason. It had fucked around and was deeply in need of finding out, at least that is how her mother would have put it. These were the thoughts that motivated her as she came out of her movement and thrust forth her rifle, committed fully to sending this specter into oblivion.

1. get up from prone
2. tactical roll to f18
3. use close-quarters battle skill if described conditions are met. Dreayth roared into the air as the gunslinger fell, his immediate bloodlust satiated. The monster would toss the gunslingers remains to the side, allowing for it to burn away into nothingness. The battle still raged on behind him however as he turned around, his eyes glowing purple as he peered into the darkness. Zolgen seems to have sustained damage and Rosette was lurking at deaths door.

“You guys aren’t allowed to die.” Dreayth smirked, he had sustained damage too but it wasn’t nearly as fatal as his two co-workers. He’d sprint once more, utilizing [Fast F] and closing the distance. His long strides and deceptive speed would find the monster in between Rosette and the Skeleton. Protecting a human, how soft I’ve grown.he scoffed to himself as he moved into combat range.

He’d pivot his feet in one swift movement as he turned to the skeleton. Gripping his spear, Dominatus, with two hands. The monsters muscles tensed as he ripped the weapon in a wide arc, smolders of purple flames burning off into nothingness as the spear sailed through the air.

He wasn’t done yet, his aim was to overwhelm this knight, destroy it limb from limb. After his initial attack, the monster would rip his spear once more. Aim on landing more than one attack.

The good news was that Skeletal Knight #2 couldn't deal with them working together to deal a good deal of damage, as it finally had to give up it's crusade for revenge which made Zolgen feel more inspired. "You sound confident for someone whose comrade was just killed a second time over again!" He'd taunt.

Unfortunately, somehow Skeletal Knight #1, despite being relatively damaged, was able to rally a great deal of necrotic power, and use it to repel and counter a good deal of their attacks which was surprising to Zolgen and almost made his feeling of nervousness now feel justified. This was particularly true because he was forced back 15 ft, against his will. This in combination with his bone armor breaking, and him taking real damage which felt painful, as well as Rosette and Agrigore getting countered, only motivated him further to absolutely crush the knight.

"#I'm done with you!#" He'd call out in Abyssal attempting to counter attack any would be attack thrown his way by the skeleton by using Demonic Twin Strike III
The compromised vision made it feel like it was too risky for Zolgen to use more area attacks so he did not go all out there.

Instead he'd focus on trying to hit the knight again, using less risky attacks that would reduce the chance of friendly fire, so if it seemed like he could hit possibly he'd follow up with a Demonic Twin Strike II, bringing his two blades down again consecutively, before following up with a less powerful variation yet again Demonic Twin Strike I, bringing the two blades down yet again. The overly aggressive behavior reflected Zolgen's emotions as of current, that he wanted to utterly destroy this opponent so that they wouldn't ever be able to trifle with hm again, even in death.

The Coven Battle (Siren) - Darkest Dungeon

With the pitch-black gloom still gripping most of the battlefield, the Globster’s curious prodding of the ruined lamp post proves unexpectedly fruitful. In a wet slurp of movement, the creature nudges a twisted metal joint or gnaws at a flickering rune. Suddenly, the orb sparks back to life. Dim, ashen light washes through the chaos, revealing every ruined arch and shifting shadow once more.

A Final, Furious Onslaught

Illumination returns just in time for the last Skeleton Knight to face a barrage of attacks:

  • Agrigore, fueled by rage and pain, lunges at the knight from across the rubble. His massive shape appears in a blur of motion, limbs unfolding into a savage pounce.
  • Dreayth charges in from another angle, hellfire licking around his spear, its baleful glow casting jagged silhouettes on the collapsed stones.
  • Zolgen, still stinging from necrotic damage, shouts an abyssal war cry as he brings twin blades down in overlapping arcs, seeking to carve the knight’s undead resolve to pieces.
  • Naori, newly bandaged, darts forward with a poison-laced dagger, the corroded edge aimed squarely at whatever remains of the knight’s vital core.
No matter what brutal Cleave or last shriek of undeath the knight attempts, it cannot withstand the coordinated strike. Under a hail of slashes, stabs, and spear-thrusts, its body splinters further—until necrotic runes sputter and die. The knight’s skeletal form crumbles in a muted clatter of bone shards and rusted metal, all of it swiftly turning to grey ash that the wind drags into the Shadowlands’ swirling haze. One final clang resonates in the sudden hush: its corroded sword drops to the ground, the lone relic of a once-fearsome champion.

Rosette’s Near Miss

Rosette, having rolled across the debris to set up a point-blank shot, comes face to face with nothing as the knight dissolves mere heartbeats before her rifle can find purchase. A faint swirl of ash glides past her, remnants of the knight’s dissipating form. Though wounded and bloodied, she remains on alive, but still in need of medical attention. [1 turn until she passes out.]

The Aftermath

A tense stillness settles over the battlefield. Two pairs of skeletal remains lie scattered in corroded piles; the Gunslinger’s revolver is gone to dust; and the Alchemist’s twisted cloak is nothing more than a smear of glowing residue on charred stone. Only the tingle of acid burns, shredded armor, and scorched terrain remind everyone of the brutality just witnessed.

From beyond the edge of newly rekindled lamplight, footsteps echo in the distance. They’re faint at first—barely a suggestion of movement amidst the swirling ash. Yet the sound grows steadily, one step at a time, suggesting another presence within these haunted ruins. Whether foe or friend remains to be seen, but after the carnage of this battle, any newcomer is greeted by an uneasy hush.

For now, the last champion of vengeance lies defeated, its sword left behind as testament to a final, futile stand.

The sounds of footsteps were accompanied by clapping, palm against palm, the ovation echoing in the emptiness of the Shadowland.

With the exhaling of smoke, the eyes behind the glasses peered towards the group for quite a few moments, darting between broken armor, blood-stained clothing and the corpses of goblins nearby.

“You guys look like shit!” Hiroshi said without preamble, letting out a loud chuckle. His gaze would dart towards both Dreayth and Naori, eyebrows furrowing. Something gnawed on the back of his mind, but he wasn’t able to quite know what it was. “Don’t I know you two?” Crossing his arms, he began tapping his right foot against the ashen ground.

A faint tremor ripples through the ash-covered ground, accompanied by a low-pitched hum that seems to resonate in the chest rather than the ears. From the edges of the hazy gloom, the ominous door pushes its way into existence—much like it did back in the hive cavern. Its fleshy surface seems to exhale in a slow, unsettling rhythm, as if it were some living thing forcing open a rift in the boundary between realms.

Pale runic veins pulse along the door’s frame, converging on a single, lidless eye at the center. That eye cracks open, revealing an iris of swirling amber and violet. A wet, organic shudder runs through the door—like sinew stretching under worn leather. Then, with a quiet, viscous slurp, the door’s halves pull apart.

Ash stirs at its base, curling in lazy tendrils around the threshold. A thin draft of cold air spills forth from beyond, carrying with it the scent of incense, old parchment, and flickering torchlight—a sharp contrast to the sterile, dusty stench of the Shadowlands. The doorway itself stands like a wound in the fabric of this realm, an invitation—or warning—to those who gaze upon it. The rhythmic thumping at its edges echoes the distant beat of an unearthly heart, a subtle reminder that any passage through comes with a price… and that the door does not wait idly for those who linger.

Hiroshi removes his sunglasses for a moment, looking directly at the door with his naked eyes. “What the hell is that?” Clear suspicion, mixed with confusion, are etched in the lines of his face.

Finally after all the attacking after the group had taken so much damage, and allies had been killed, they'd been able to fend off against the shadowland enemies. He'd look around the battlefield and let out a dark chuckle. It felt very satisfying to see the foe who he'd killed in life collapse in undeath, unable to fulfill it's desired revenge, forced into a slumber again from what he could tell.

"I will say they were stronger after dying, but not strong enough..there's the desire for revenge..but that only get you so far I know that from experience that while it can be a powerful motivator and get you through situations where you otherwise might die..they needed true strength and power if they wanted any chance of finally putting me to death.."

"On that note thanks for helping.."
He'd look to the others.

"And...you all alright?" He'd inquire, maybe Naori could help heal people up if It was necessary, even Zolgen had taken notice that he didn't really have functional armor at the moment not to mention the wound which had been presumably inflicted on him by the skeletal knight, thankfully not being a grievous one, but still a wound was a wound.

Zolgen then looked to the corroded sword which was left near it's remains, he snickered a bit, and made his way over putting away His 2 Demonic Cleaver Blade #2 before he'd appraise the sword with: Appraisal- Appraisal D + Energized D ( Grade D ability 1 post cooldown (Energized) ) If nothing was flagged during his appraisal as being harmful to the person wielding it, then he'd pick up the sword and hold onto it.

After this whether he was successful in taking it or not, it or not, Zolgen looked to the direction of the footsteps, wondering what was going on, cautious, that was until he saw the person who looked Kinda like that silhouette earlier with the smoking everything. Zolgen chuckled some again at hearing the comment about them looking bad.

"Listen up, you're Hiroshi Nakamura right? What you need to know is that yes, you know those two. We look like this because we've been fighting through this realm to find and retrieve you from this place so that we can bring you back to live, as strange as that might be to hear."

Zolgen then looked to the strange pulsing door that Hiroshi pointed out, welp he knew what was likely to happen If they hesitated, not to mention it was more dangerous to do it in the shadowland.

"Anyway, It'd be great if you'd follow us through that door so we can get out of this place, you remember what the Lady said everyone right? Dangerous to hesitate, so unless you wanna get grabbed by tongues or something worse happening I say we grab whatever we're taking and head toward the door with Hiroshi now." Zolgen declared. He wasn't sure if Hiroshi/Hiroshi's soul would be willing to go along with it, but he hoped that he'd understands much that going with them would be better than wandering around this dangerous wasteland forever.

(Note if appraisal D not allowed cause still doing cooldown I'll do energized Appraisal E)

Naori walked over to Rosette, who seemed injured he did huff. “I told you. If you die it's on you” he told her.

Despite the emptiness of tone and aggressive wording behind it, Naori pulled out his dagger. And begin using the ability [Medicine E] on Rosette to patch up her injuries. This time Rosette was the target. “But you did decent on the battlefield. Take that as a reward.” He had added to his previous sentence.

As soon as he heard Hiroshi’s voice he turned his head.

“Yes, you know us. That’s Dreayth remember? Your brother-in-law? And I’m the kid who you pretended to be the dad of for cover. Now.”

He grabbed onto Hiroshi’s arm. Or tried to. “I suggest we should go through there now unless you like tentacles.”

Naori would attempt to drag Hiroshi through the door.

1. Attempt to use [Medicine [E] on Rosette
2. Talk to Hiroshi
3. Try to drag hiroshi through the door

The world tilted wildly as Rosette came out of her tactical roll. Her vision was fading as her life leaked out of her side. The only sound filling her ears was the gentle thrumming of her heartbeat. Then suddenly light exploded into her vision, the lamp having fired back up somehow. Her rifle shot forward into what had once been darkness, but as her eyes began to adjust a cloud of swirling ash was all that greeted her. The Skeleton soldier having died before she had even set her eyes upon it again. In her now light scarred vision she could see her companions. They were like the bold knights in the story books she had loved as a child. Battle worn but victorious they cut proud figures in her wounded mind. A small smile crossed her lips as she looked up at them from her crouching position.

Beyond the lamplight. Beyond her brave companions. Amid the swirling shadows a lone figure stood out to rosette. It was the first time this place had showed her anything that she could recognize. There stood a stately gentleman with carefully coiffed white hair and a broad handlebar mustache. He wore a dapper tuxedo and slung across his back lay a rifle of similar make to Rosette's own. The gentleman gave her a deep bow and though she could not see it's mouth moving the man's words still reached her ears.

Rosette...My sweet poppet....You've done a fine job....

Before she could react. Before her mind could even really process what was happening Naori had appeared and blocked her view. Knife in hand he knelt and went to work on Rosette. He gently chided her and at the same time gave her praise. Rosette let out a small giggle, careful not to interrupt his work.

" Thank you Naori." She would state softly so that only Naori could here it if he wanted " I like you too."

Then as he moved on to other business Rosette would carefully stand, her eyes scanning for the gentleman. He had been her grandfather in life, the man who taught her the rifle, and who had passed away on her 14th birthday. Yet, no matter how hard she looked this place offered her no other glimpse, and for this she was glad. She had missed him terribly and she was not sure she could resist the allure of this place if it were to keep presenting this person to her. With this in mind she turned her gaze to the portal home.

" I think it's time to go then, My beloved boys!" She stated loudly as she started to make her way toward the gate. " No tentacles for this little lady! Besides, this Rosette is in need of a tune up right alongside her rifle. So grab that ghost and let's go!"

Incredibly, the Globster's harmless carefree fiddling of the mysterious lamp post would bear fruit as it manages to turn on the crystal within the unleash a bright light in its general vicinity. It recoils against the sharp yet dim brightness as the dark fog surrounding it and the rest of the group would rapidly dissipate. It gave out a pleased gurgle before looking bearing withness at a viscous scene playing out just in front of it.

Everyone was dogpiling on that final skeletal knight, punishing it for the audacity of it living longer and causing agony to the monstrous group of misfits. The Agrigore for one had him pinned while ripping and tearing into its bony anatomy, all combined with Dreayth's spear piercing through, Zolgen's heavy hitting slashes of both blades, and Naori stabbing a poison-laced dart into its hallow core. Needless to say, it stood no chance before crumbling to ash and blowing away into the wind. Even Rosette was about to stab into it right before it poofed. The battle had been won and they could now finally rest.

"#AAAAAAAGRIIIIGOOREEEEEEEEEEE!#" screeched the cyclops with outstretched claws as it's victory screech echoed across the shadowlands, as if proclaiming a new master to its domain.

The battlefield had now resorted back to an uneasy tension as Zolgen gave a speech over their victory. Despite their vengeful enemies being moderately stronger then they were in life, they wouldn't be enough to kill them. Not today. In addition, the bone-headed humanoid also thanked the others for their assistance. The Agrigore gave a gurgled chuff as they gave a wide yet damaged grin. The regeneration had been kicking in as they began to slowly regrow his teeth and damaged armor. He'll be fine.

Rosette was the worst off, looking as if she'd lost a lot of blood. The "Pudding Man" globster slowly waddled to her with a pensive gurgle, unable to heal but determined to see them get better. It seemed to... care for her. She was the only individual to show them kindness after all. It would be a shame to see them die. Backing off as Naori administered healing, it would then return to its master and look up with its dopy eye with barely a thought in its head. The Agrigore's singular eye fixated on him with an ominous squinted stare thinking with what only could be inhuman thoughts racing through its head. All before releasing his tension.

"#Aaaaaagrigorrrree....#" he hissed back, acknowledging and congratulating the globster's achievement. It's expression brightened. It did good... surprisingly so. Perhaps enough to give it an "elite" status for the future... when it can evolve into an Aggregate Warrior itself. So long as it's unique conscious could live long enough to see that end...

Then at last, their quarry would finally reveal themselves. They finally found Hiroshi Nakamura. While his personality was brash and a bit rude, it wouldn't phase the monstrous Agrigore in the slightest. His appearance didn't do anything for him. If anything he already had a substantial reward. The bug corpse. This was just him helping as a bonus at this point. Nevertheless, the Agrigore would find himself seeing these newfound partners as valuable tools should he ever on a red moon need them.

And each of them would make fine future editions to his ever growing army...

Once the infamous tentacled door revealed itself, the cyclops clicked rapidly as if to encourage the others to leave while they still could. Then it reached out a lanky clawed hand towards the globster, signaling that its usefulness for the time being is up. "Pudding Man" glanced back at the rest of the party one final time, its gaze looking the longest at Rosette, before waving a gooey tendril goodbye. Then it fused the the Agrigore's arm and ultimate throughout its entire body... flooding the Agrigore with its memories and visions of what it had seen throughout its endeavor against the echoes of the fallen.

Once that was done, the Agrigore stomped into the portal and back to civilization...

A sensation of lurching vertigo envelops everyone as they step through the fleshy door—its wet, pulsing membranes inhaling and exhaling around them like a living corridor. The transition ends in a flash of incense and candlelight, and the party abruptly finds themselves back within the Crimson Lotus. Shadows of twisted architecture lurk just outside the walls, reminding all that Crimsonharbor remains as surreal as ever.

Madame Vex’s Cryptic Greeting

The hush in the establishment breaks with a slow clap of bony fingers. Madame Vex, standing behind her lacquered counter, inclines her head in something that is neither a bow nor a nod—more a reserved acknowledgement of success. Three distinct shadows on the floor behind her curl and twitch in silent concert.

Madame Vex
Madame Vex.jpg

“I see you’ve returned in one piece—well, most of you,” she remarks, eyes lingering on the group’s torn armor and bloodied clothes. “I trust the Shadowlands put your resolve to the test. Good.”

An attendant in a featureless porcelain mask glides forward, offering the group warm towels, though the creature shies away from the Agrigore’s towering form and from Rosette’s still-seeping wounds.

Hiroshi’s Soul – A Grayish Tinge

Madame Vex gestures with one spindly hand, and a stoppered vial floats from beneath the counter. Within the glass, churning wisps of slate-gray luminescence swirl and coil in slow eddies.

“The body’s in your possession—now here is the soul. I would’ve waited longer, but it insisted on hurrying to you.” Her lips curl in what might be a knowing smile. “Pour this over Hiroshi’s remains, and he will walk among you again.”

She extends the vial to Naori, the swirling mists inside flickering in dim silver pulses.

An Ominous Purple Soul

With a twitch of her free hand, another wispy spirit-capsule emerges, this one tinted a deep, violet hue. Within it, faint arcs of intangible lightning dance against the glass. Madame Vex narrows her eyes at Dreayth.

“I believe this one… followed you back.” A pause, heavy with implication. “Why or how, even I cannot say yet. Keep it hidden until you understand what it’s meant for.”

In a low, rasping tone, she adds an admonition to hold the second vial carefully. For a moment, the swirling purples inside reflect in her odd, mismatched eyes—gold and amethyst swirling ominously.

A Specimen from the Hive

One of the masked attendants then steps forward, cradling a small crystalline case. Inside lies a jagged fragment of chitin, its surface slick with some caustic secretion. Tiny ridges along its edge suggest it once belonged to a high-tier insect warrior—possibly the Hive Guardian or another formidable brood member. The attendant offers it to Naori.

“A piece of your rampage,” Madame Vex notes, her tone halfway between jest and warning. “It was delivered to me by… let’s say another interested party. You’ll want to handle it with caution. Its venom-laced resin still clings to the surface. Might be of research value to you.”

The masked figure steps back, head bowed, as though uneasy about being so close to the bizarre artifact.

The Moment of Aftermath

Madame Vex rests her palms on the counter and allows a thin smile. Her gaze flicks from each battered adventurer to the mysterious items they carry now—souls in glass, dripping shards of monstrous origin, and the aftermath of a second brush with death.

“You have my congratulations… and my condolences. Some prices, after all, are heavier than gold.”

A lingering swirl of incense hangs in the air, reminding everyone that not all is well or finished. Time ebbs steadily away, even here in Crimsonharbor’s eternal twilight, and the final step of Hiroshi’s resurrection looms—pouring that swirling, gray-tinged soul back into its battered vessel before the clock runs out.

Dreayth smirked, “nice job not dying shit heads.” He’d give Rosette a pat on the head, she looked worse for ware and surely would wake up black and blue all over but he was impressed by her resolve. His hand was abnormally large around the small humans cranium, if he wanted with [Super Strength F] he could crush her head like a grape.

Alas, he would save it for another day. As he returned back to the land of the living, the foggy thoughts would resume. it was nice while it lasted he thought to himself as he could feel his mood begin to sour. He’d turn his gaze to Hiroshi, “just for the record, I only came down here because Whizzie would be upset without you. You fuck with him and I’ll make sure to hand you over to the bugs promptly.” He groaned in annoyance, However it was short lived as the old hag handed him a vial, as he placed his hand on the vial his eyes would gloss over slightly.

“I see.” His response, oddly cryptic. Even he was a befuddled by What was in the vial. It teemed with life yet stunk of death, all in the same breath. Dreayth would push his curiosities to the back of his mind as he turned to Naori.

“Well go on then, bring the son of a bitch back before he rots away. I’m tired of seeing his ugly mug like that.”

Zolgen

Zolgen was glad It seemed like the others were at least were well enough to go through the door without waiting too long, and that it seemed those who knew what Hiroshi looked like seemed to confirm that this was likely his soul they had infact retrieved from the Shadowland. Agrigore seemed to be in a pretty good mood at this point as did Dreayth, whom he couldn't blame considering that had been a tighter rougher fight than any of them had probably been planning for.

Also, thankfully it looked like everyone made it through the door instead of getting tentacles. Once again Zolgen found himself greeted with the scent of incense and the sight of candle light, right back at the Crimson Lotus.

The demon then found himself looking over to Madam Vex, hearing the bony fingers clapping.

"Might have put up a better fight than I was expecting, didn't matter though we still came out on top, and for most of us, there's more of them where they came from." Zolgen asserted positively in response to her.

Zolgen grabbed a warm towel and wiped his 'skull' down before also wiping where there might have been any of his blood up on the site where he had taken HP damage during the fight. "Heh thanks." He'd let out softly.

He stopped wiping and saw the strange vial which apparently contained Hiroshi's soul which somehow got transported into it upon their arrival in this odd realm? Zolgen supposed stranger things had happened before.

Zolgen nodded in agreement at what Dreayth said, "Yeah boy, you've helped get us this far, and since you know him so well you do the honors."

He looked to the strange ominous soul, "Something from the Shadowlands then?..Interesting, I wonder if it'll be of any value.." He'd comment matter of fact looking to the purple vial.

"Thanks for your assistance...I'm sure I'll manage just fine." Zolgen chuckled darkly, he'd know who to blame if the price ended up being too high for his liking, and who he'd be coming up after too now.

He took notice of the Hive specimen too but it didn't really concern him, being something more of Naori's interest instead more than likely. Now all they had to do was finish this off and get out of this place back to their own realm.

“I’m doing it. I’m doing it. This kind of thing I’ll need to be careful with. I don’t want to screw up his corpse to much like I did to my siblings. Now shh and let me focus.”
Naori answered with a nod.

He accepted the items, he examined the vile and the box. He’d do research on the appendage later, for now he had a job to focus on. If it was any time to constructize someone it was now. He kneeled before the body, taking out his toolkit he uses his knowledge to repair damaged, broken or decomposing areas of Hiroshi's corpse. Replacing them with artificial pieces he has on him. [Constructlize! [E] ]once he completed the alterations to Hiroshi’s corpse he pours the soul over the body once more…

Hopefully his research so far was enough to complete this task and pave the way further down the road towards the research of immortality.
