Paying little if any head to El's following piece Clair proceeded to shake the somewhat quivering hand of Niya. Clair, of course, took note of her odd behaviour but wrote it all down as a response to her previous actions. Perhaps she had gone to far....oh well, what was done was done and Clair had enjoyed every moment of it. With a soft smile, the witch withdrew her hand and as she did so something clicked within her head.

This girl, the one who stood before her was somehow oddly familiar. Her scent, her eyes, that odd yet charming smile.... she couldn't be could she? Clair brought herself closer and closer to the girl's face until all of a sudden she jolted back with a somewhat shocked look "No way! You're the Ki's daughter!" With a saddened tone she took a look at herself in the mirror and sighed "I'm getting old! Nathaniel, I'm getting old! Curse you El Somehow this is all your fault!!!!"

Quertey chuckled, "It seems each of your reputations precede you. How you're able to keep up with that sort of thing completely escapes me." He said, taking a step closer to the two and puting a hand on Clair's head, "You shouldn't worry too hard about that, my dear, you barely look a day over 21. Really, it's a mystery to magic."
Glancing back at Kelly, Quertey holds his chin a moment in thought, "With winter around the corner, I'm sure some of the young ones will wind up catching colds, it always happens around this time of year." He said, putting his hands in his cloak pockets, "I supose I'll take anything, potions for fevers, coughs, sore throats, whatever." He thought for another moment, "Otherwise... most of my students are still learning to draw basic runes, so I won't be needing any potions for supplementary lessons..." As he spoke, the tone of his voice gradually shifted as he evidently became more and more distracted, "We'll need to buy materials for inkgrinding..." His eyes widened as if remembering something important. "Ah, never mind that." He muttered, turning his attention back to Kelly, "Would you mind showing me those potions then, miss?"

El took what’s Althea said into consideration. A well practiced potionmaker who has spent most of her life could use a little versatility. Maybe watching El or Quertey would do more good than harm, regardless of how strange his practice is. The black haired man gave a nod of approval, responding after a bit of consideration.
“You are always welcome at my study, miss Althea. I know I did not make that offer so promising but the invitation stands.” El said with a playful grin, a thin hand counting out coins and holding them towards the silver haired woman to pay for the herbs he found. He needed to create more connections with others anyways. He was known mostly as a weird, shady man, and his personality didn’t do him any favors.
El’s attention went back to his green haired colleague. “I'm getting old! Nathaniel, I'm getting old! Curse you El Somehow this is all your fault!!!!" El propped a hand on his hip and frowned.
“Says the one who gives me grey hairs at the prime age of twenty one, you senile bat!” El said, turning to face her, but a little fast and having a wave of dizziness take over his sight for a moment. This was not unusual for El, who would stay up most nights working and never had much of a strong constitution to begin with. He leaned on a shelf to regain his composure and laughed sheepishly towards Althea.
“Excuse Me and Clair, can be a bit much. Mainly her, as her presence a erm, a strong impact.”

Perhaps Thea would make a trip to El's study once in a while. Just to learn something new. She was curious as to how he worked with his craft. And let's be honest here, she needs to know more people. Around town, Thea is known as a rude homebody since she is rarely seen. Maybe acquainting herself with their coven could open decent networking opportunities for her business.

Thea quietly took the coins El was holding out to her while listening to Clair and him banter. 'They act like children... I love it.' She continued to contently listen to the two bicker, until she brought herself back to her senses. 'I have a shop to run. And restock'. Thea quickly decided that she's had enough socializing for the day, and wanted to go outside. Not outside where various people roamed the streets and traded their money for goods, but outside of Asola where the fresh air was, herbs were plentiful, and very few humans strayed. Outside in the forests surrounding the magical town of Asola was what Thea was thinking of when she moved to put her newly received money away and began to head towards her satchel hanging in the back of the store.

"Well, sorry to leave so soon- kind of, not really- but I don't get much social interaction, and this exchange has been a bit.. taxing on me, so to speak. I will leave my apprentice in charge of directing you to your needed items while I go to restock my herb section." Thea didn't exactly feel bad for wanting to ditch this crew with Kelly. She has done this many times before with other customers, and didn't feel an ounce of guilt for doing it. She wasn't going to regret doing something she enjoyed. That something being being outside in the calming greenery. That being said, as Althea looped her bag over her shoulders, she checked to make sure her miniature dagger was still hidden in her boot before looking up at the customers that remained in her shop.

Kelly nodded at Althea. "Sure, I'll take care of him." As her mistress left, Kelly guided the professor to the display of healing potions. "Here you are, sir. We've got everything from colds to graywater fever covered here. Name the ailment, we have a treatment for it. To your left, we sell some liquid emotions. Joy, hope, love- we even have sadness covered, if you want that for some godsforsaken reason. On your right, you'll find our transmutatives. Want to transform something, or someone? We can make that happen.

So, see anything you like?"

Niya watched everything unfold... Clair complained to Kwurty about her age (“They must be really good friends...”)... some shop business... Niya started to feel a bit impatient. She knew she had to sit through this to be able to join the coven, but wasn’t this taking a bit too long? Still, the girl stayed neutral-faced and decided to continue following the Professor. Not much else she could do, anyways.

Rin moves around the market looking for a bunch of different items for a potion he is planning to make until he sees exactly what he was looking for at a stall a black lotus flower and their are 5 left, basically runs to the stall with "aaaaaaa is that a black lotus flower i was beginning to doubt their would actually be any here their so rare and hard to get how much you want for it." Rin is practically bouncing up and down at the chance to purchase the flowers until the shop keeper names the price which causes Rin to stop in his tracks and the shop keeper to give out a nervous smile. " Just because i really want the flower doesn't mean im available for scams you pest." A few bystanders in the streets look at the scene that is unfolding until Rin pulls out 5 bags of gold . " That is more than enough of how much the flowers are worth and i will not pay a dime more so take it and give me the black lotus flowers or i promise to make your life hell. The shop keeper all but takes the money and pushes the flowers to him, Rin then takes the flowers and smiles then saying " Have a nice day hope to see you again soon, maybe without you trying to scam me." as he then walks back into the streets admiring his precious flowers.

Before leaving, Thea said something to those standing in her store. "If you so wish, I can take anyone to shops they need to go to before I leave. I know where the highest quality, and cheapest items are sold. That's usually in the marketplace." She waited a bit before pulling her green hood over her head and turning to the door.

Althea finally left her shop and walked onto the streets of Asola without looking back to see if anyone were to follow her. She needed something from the market anyway, specifically, candles. She began taking her usual path when there was suddenly a commotion nearby. She looked over and there she saw a young boy insulting a merchant, a greedy merchant who was commonly known around town for deceiving customers. Not only that, but the child took out multiple bags obviously filled with money. So he was either immensely wealthy, or he just spent his entire allowance on... something small. Thea couldn't clearly see what the boy was purchasing, but she did know it was enough for her to roll her eyes in annoyance at the boy for wasting all that money. As per usual, Thea began to form ugly opinions about people without even saying a word to them.
As she continued making her way down the street, she began to make a mental checklist of what she needed to restock on. She soon became distracted and lost in a pool of her thoughts when her body collided into something. A person.

Quertey bought several medicinal potions an tucking them into a small pouch, one seemingly incapable of holding the volume that he placed into it but fit all of them without trouble.
"My deepest thanks for your potions as well as patience." He addressed the shopkeepers with a small gracious bow before leaving. He paused at the door, glancking briefly back inside, "Oh, and miss," He addressed Kelly, "You're certainly welcome to visit our coven at any time."
Exiting the shop, Quertey glanced quickly at a brass watch he kept in one of his cloak's inner pockets.
"Ahh... this late already, where has the time gone?" He sighed, "Let's get going, then," He said to the members of his coven, "I'd like to return home before the sun starts to set. We'll meet up at the usual exit." Quertey then turned down an alley, walking until he reached a doorknob sticking out of a brick wall. Twisting it, a door formed form the stone of the wall. He enters with a single brusque stride and as the door closes behind him, it reformed with the wall, leaving a sheer surface. A tree grew within the building and the walls were lined with glass bottles filled with powders and dried herbs. In the center of the room, a little round old man with a large nose and small eyes looking rather like a mole sat hunched over a wooden desk.
"Professor Meruccio! Still working in this hovel? Truly unbefitting for a magician of your stature." The old witch looked up at him with a soft sigh.
"You credit me too highly, my boy." He said, rustling through one of his drawers and producing several glass bottles of ink in a small range of sizes, "Everything you ordered to the letter." Quertey looked over the inks and placed a bag of coins on the desk. Again, the old man sighed.
"Don't waste your money, Nathaniel." Despite the man's advice, Quertey's smile softened in a way that showed more than words his insistance. "...Fine, I'll accept it this once, but some of that ink you ordered, might I ask-" With a sly, foxlike smile, he put a finger to his lips.
"We'll talk about it later."

Clair blushed subtly when Querty placed his hand on her head and even more so after he complimented her appearance. The whole situation had sent Clair's thoughts to a world of their own and she missed almost everything that followed after, that was until El went and snapped her back to reality with his sly remark! After Querty had left Clair tuned to face El who, unsurprisingly, seemed to be sleep deprived yet again. Clair honestly didn't understand how the man managed to function at all half the time even when well rested he was..... prone to accidents. He always had been. But then again his experiments were anything but mainstream, the error was a given.

With a soft sigh, Clair threw her hands behind her head and whistled a little tune before talking once again to her companion El "So, I take it you were up all night 'studying' again huh. I won't happen to find anything strange in your room when we get home right?"

El nodded as Althea left, his eyes lingering on the antisocial woman a moment longer than he would admit. Of course, it was all in curiosity. She was fairly blunt about why she was leaving (though this was her own shop). Next to leave was Quertey, and El stayed behind, lingering next to his green haired friend. The usual meeting place meant Quertey wanted to go get some materials of his own. The black haired man would most likely find a place to sit and enjoy the limited fresh air, himself. Geez, he already sounded like an old man. He listened to Clair, calling him out for his bad habits. He could see a little pink left in her cheeks from Quertey. It’s like the man was oblivious to what he did to Clair. El’s expression softened.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m a diligent student, you know.” He said with a self assured nod.
His hand ghosted over his sleeve in memory of what he did the previous night. The cut he made was sealed, with only a white line to remember it by.
He was testing the growth affects of his charmed Kudzu when the human body was connected to the plant through blood. El’s body was at a constant, measurable state of cellular degeneration. In a sense, he was decaying without his masters ‘treatments’, which meant he could play his own test subject. The experiment resulted in a little regeneration but mainly hair and nail growth. Though, the kudzu with a growth charm in his lab meant..
“Well I don’t think it’s a mess in there personally but let’s stay away for a bit. I think my garden might be a bit overgrown. I’ll probably have to trim some weeds before I leave tonight.” This translated roughly to, ‘I may or may not be able to get back into my study and don’t be surprised if kudzu broke through my windows’. El smiled sheepishly, a hand gently touching the back of Clair’s arm to lead her out of the vacated store.
“You seemed a little.. more excited than usual, miss star gazer. Is there something you would like to do in town to decompress?” El knew how she got when Quertey was, well his usual friendly self. It’s not the first time a younger girl tailed the man like a puppy, though Niya didn’t seem to be that way. He could tease Clair all he wanted, but he couldn’t help but feel that wasn’t a subject to exploit.

Niya watched everything unfold around her, growing slightly more bored and impatient. She even found her fingers tapping against her own body, a behaviour she usually tried not to do. Quertey left, and like a duckling, Niya followed. He said something about getting home before dark and meeting up at an exit?? Niya had no idea what that meant. She looked back and forth between the Professor, the Celestial Watcher, and El with a sort of lost expression. What was happening? When Niya saw that Quertey was leaving, she quickly followed, partially because she didn't know what else to do and partially because she had interest in what the Professor did. Besides, there was no reason to stay with... the others. No matter how brilliant Clair was.

Niya followed the Professor into an alley (she found herself clutching her knife while walking along there), and watched as he opened a door that blended into the wall. Inside the hidden room was a tree and many bottles. Was this a potion shop? The man in the middle... Professor Meruccio... gave the Professor inks of all types. The Professor paid, which the other man took after some insistence. Niya looked over the ink, though she found nothing interesting about it. She knew next to nothing about ink.

Wake Wake

Cat was jolted out of her idle walking by some else bumping into her. She quickly recovered, to her credit, and was able to put a name to the other woman's face.

"Hello, Althea. It's nice to see you get out of that musty old shop for once. What brings you out here this fine and glorious day?" The summoner had a bright and cheery smile on her face- she'd just found the last item she needed for her ritual was preparing to head for home, and earlier than expected, too. It just seemed to keep getting better and better for her.

As Rin exited the admiring his new found prize he saw 2 people talking in the middle of the market normally he wouldn't consider it odd but they looked strangely familiar to him he started searching through his memory and was able to figure out that one of them was Althea Maria Till a herb and potion seller and the other one he couldn't quite place his finger on wait he recalled seeing a picture of her that involved the Delacroix family too bad he didn't look that deep into it. Rin then starts to wonder what a member of the Delacroix family be doing here alone. Rin then looks at the black lotus flowers he just bought still admiring their black petals, until he recalls other things he needs mostly herbs . Rin then thinks that maybe he should reserve a order for the herbs he needs or just ask if she has the he requires and starts to walk up to them looking at his Black Lotus flowers nearly drooling over the precious sight.

Thea was brought out of her reverie when she looked up at the person she suddenly bumped into. It was Catherine Delacroix, a rich witch that comes from old money. Thea didn't know Catherine on a personal level, but she was acquainted with Catherine through some business a while back. This Delacroix helped Thea maintain her shop when she was just starting out. Without her help, Thea would probably be a hobo on the streets by now. This being said, Thea always made an attempt to be friendly whenever the two would met.

"Hello, Althea. It's nice to see you get out of that musty old shop for once. What brings you out here this fine and glorious day?" Catherine seemed overwhelmingly happy today, and Althea didn't exactly understand why. It was just an average morning after all. "I do enjoy getting fresh air every once in a while, Miss Delacroix. But being as I'm not the kind of person to randomly take a walk outside with no purpose, I am out to purchase candles and will be heading to the forest to replenish my stock of herbs." Thea sublty adjusted the strap on her satchel. "What brings you here this morning? You certainly look content with your day so far."

Upon leaving the old man's shop, Quertey glanced down at Niya smiled kindly.
"Were the others so boring that you felt the need to tag along with me?" He asked halfway jokingly, "Well then, walk with me, miss Niyah. We'll wait for the others by the exit." He said as he began to stroll down the alley at a casual pace. "You seemed interested in inks, no? I can talk about them all day." He said as they reached a smooth wall and placed the things he held on the ground next to him. Then, pulling out a pen from his cloak, one with a tip of what looked like an opaque hardened sap, Quertey began to draw. "If you want to look at the vials, each one is ever so slightly different, in viscocity or color or opacity and whatnot." He said, glancing briefly at Niya, "It varies depending on what's in it and an ink's components can change the properties of the spell and one of the most important parts of creating a spell to serve a specific purpose is choosing the ink. Naturally, it's important for a witch to be able to grind their own ink, but there's absolutely nothing better than the artisan stuff!"

Clair took to lean back against the counter top as she awaited El's answer all be it more likely falsified to suit his needs. Clair had to hand it to him though, every day he seemed to have yet another story to tell, each as amusing to her as the last and each as misleading too. This time was no different......

As the witch continued to explain to Clair the debatable current state of his house she felt her will to leave town all that more lacking. 'Hecate why can't he go one single day without doing something so, so god damn...' Just as Clair was about to finish her inner monologue El pulled her by the arm and swiftly guided her out and into the main street. It was shocking, to say the least, just two minutes ago he was practically falling over and now he was rag dolling her about. But why?

'You seemed a little... more excited than usual, miss star gazer. Is there something you would like to do in town to decompress?' Oh, that was why.

Clair's look of shook slowly came to fade as did the slight pink shade in her cheeks, it was good to be back out in the fresh air and it was a nice feeling to know El had been paying attention to her, he truly was a good friend when he wanted to be. Not that Clair would ever tell him. With a smile, Clair proceeded to walk alongside her companion and as she did so she both spoke softly and examined the stalls and shops with a wandering and giddy eye. "Hmmm, do you think so? Well, I suppose Sigil did congratulate me this morning for my part in that witch hunt incident last week. Apparently, he was only twenty-two, imagine he was practising necromancy at twenty-two! What is the world coming to? Anyway, he's set for public burning sometime next week. It's sad to see someone so young burn for such a heinous crime. It sad to see someone so young burn at all. But it did feel good to be congratulated."

Turning to shoot El a quick sly smile Clair Quickly changed the topic "Speaking of Sigil and my time with them this morning. Your little experiment, The one with that spiky plant thing. You know the one that cut and hurt one of the local farmer's sheep. I managed to smooth it over....your welcome. Oh and try not to do it again, please... It cost me a favour to clear it up the very same favour I would have earned for that witch hunt"

"Oh, I'm just enjoying the day. Things are going well, business is up- why wouldn't I be happy?" Catherine had always been on good terms with Althea- she enjoyed helping other witches, and the potionmaster filled an important role in the community. "Well, I'm done for the day already, so I'll lend you a hand. Looking for anything in particular?"

As Clair started speaking about her work in the Sigil, El’s smile dropped. He couldn’t imagine what it would be like to be the one who punished those practicing taboo magic. A young necromancer, who was only a year older than El himself probably had a lot he was expecting to accomplish. He realized a while ago that Clair doesn’t get to pick or choose the people committing these crimes. Which meant, however old or whoever cares about them, they would have to face the consequences. Though, necromancy was one of the worse crimes, in El’s opinion. Bringing someone who should be dead back to life or keeping someone alive past their expiration date had some pretty depressing, morbid effects. El knew first hand.
“I’m glad you got a little praise. The sigil shouldn’t pawn their dirty work on someone with other people to manage, in my opinion, but you work hard.”
He replies, his voice a little soft and airy but he meant it. To El, it was hot outside and it seemed to worsen his fatigue, though he swore the weather was nice when they went out. Anyways it’s was his idea to lead them around a bit. It wouldn’t be fair if he gave up quite yet. He lead them over to a stand with a collection of parchment, and picked out a few rolls that suited what he was planning to work on within the next few days.
“As far as those plants, I still don’t know what the big deal was, Drosera Spatulata is a known carnivorous plant. Sure it gained some sentience and spread it’s seeds outside my lab..” El paused, a little red flushing his cheeks as he realized his mistake. “Oh right well, thanks for covering that incident. I believe I figured out what went wrong.”
El averted his gaze and said the last bit looking away. He gestured over to a food stand, as a way to quickly shift the topic.
“You said you were hungry earlier, and I have some of Querteys coins on me. You want something or did you just want something from Nathaniel?”

Niya followed her elder out of the shop.

"Were the others so boring that you felt the need to tag along with me?" Professor gave Niya smile.

Yes.

"Well then, walk with me, miss Niyah. We'll wait for the others by the exit."

Did the Professor smile because he too wanted to show himself as a nice, agreeable human being? Niya couldn't imagine any other logical explanation for his needless expressions. The girl had already dropped her nice act. She'd pick it back up again when she found it necessary.

"You seemed interested in inks, no?" Professor asked. "I can talk about them all day."

Niya opted to just go along with it all.

"If you want to look at the vials, each one is ever so slightly different, in viscocity or color or opacity and whatnot." He said as he drew with a pen taken from his cloak. "It varies depending on what's in it and an ink's components can change the properties of the spell and one of the most important parts of creating a spell to serve a specific person is choosing the ink. Naturally, it's important for a witch to be able to grind their own ink, but there's absolutely nothing better than the artisan stuff!"

Interesting. Now that Niya thought about it, she'd learned once how ink was made. But there was no need for her to make ink. It was supplied to her by another family... or maybe it was some distant branch of her own... Niya wasn't too sure. As someone who grew up using various methods to give objects their magic, she didn't put too much thought in ink. To her, just getting the runes right mattered. But Niya could see now why people cared so much about their ink.

"How do I know what ink would be best for me?" Niya asked. "Without wasting my money."

Wake Wake

Quertey finished drawing the spell, but left a gap in the circle around it then pocketed his pen again, leaning against the wall,
"Well, it's not so much finding the ink that will allign with you as finding the ink that'll serve the spell better." He began explaining, pulling a few ink vials from the bag, one with thicker ink, one of an ashy grey color, and one thinner, slightly translucent ink of a faintly greenish color, "These are some of the most common ones, this one allows for the spell to last longer, this is waterproof and this one glows in the dark. Naturally, there are far more than this, I frequently use an ink that incresed the potency of water-based spells. It all depends on the sort of spell you're casting and in what situation you'll be casting it. Once you begin to develop a magic style of your own, you'll probably wind up finding an ink that suits it well without thinking about it." Lectured Quertey. He looked down at Niya with a slightly more stern, teacherly expression. "Out of the many components of magic, one of the the most important is it's fluidity, even something as simple as changing the ink can create a spell for a completely different purpose."

As Thea listened to Catherine's reply, she examined her surroundings. The marketplace was bustling with people. She was surprised she didn't crash into someone sooner. When Thea responded, she seemed disengaged in the conversation. Her eyes were watching the people around her and her mind was wandering.

"I'm just looking for more candles. Care to join me...?" Something caught Thea's eye. More like someone. Despite the numerous amounts of people around, she spotted someone familiar. It was the teenager that was previously bullying a merchant, except this time, she got a better look at him. 'Is that... Rin?'. She recognized the boy as he was walking towards the two women, and in the desperate hopes of Rin not seeing Thea, she pulled her hood down over her head even more. She didn't want to converse with more people than she had to.

Clair let a slight giggle slip loose when El finished his piece and ultimately ended up moving a hand to her mouth in order to silence anything that followed. With a nod and a quick spin on her left foot, Clair practically dragged El off toward the stall he had suggested. Said stall was small in size but surprisingly held quite a selection of consumables, mainly assortments of bread loves but a wide selection none the less.

After a few exchanges between herself and the stall attendant, Clair decided upon a sweet loaf soaked in honey. Admittedly she was a sucker for sweet food and well honey soaked bread was a favourite of hers. Clair paid the man from her own pocket and afterwards packed the sweet loaf away within the confinements of her hat, which like Nathaniel's bag seemed to boast an incredible amount of storage seeing as she next withdrew a broomstick from it. With a soft smile, she gave the broom a twirl and with a whistle, it came to hover just waist height alongside her "Well El, Let's get you home before you keel over and die... up ya pop, I'll drop you right off at the door. And while I'm at it I might as well help you with your 'weeding'"

"Of course I'll join you, Thea. I could use some company myself." As Rin came over, Cat winced a little bit. The two had never liked each other, and she made a point to avoid him as much as possible- which of course made him seek her out more. Still, it couldn't hurt to be polite. "Hello, Rin. Good to see you as well."
