Quick question regarding the Wardsmens barrier's. At higher tiers is it plausible that a wardsman could create a barrier zone with additional effects for example heightened gravity within the barrier?

Grimm may need to knock down a few people for calling him shrimpy :p That way he can pick on someone his own size >:)

Sadly, no. Gravity manipulation isn't something a Ward can do.

However, there are other creative ways he could use barriers to accomplish something similar. For instance, he could create one underneath a target that's blended with the ground so they don't feel it being created, lift it up ever so slightly (by like a millimeter so it's almost undetectable that their standing height has changed), and then yank it out from under them like a rug sending them tumbling to the ground. Or, if he forms one on the ceiling he could call it down at speed to give them a nice hard whack on the head.

Am I right to then assume that he would have the potential to alter the sizes, shape and move the barriers as well as what is and isn't negated by the barrier effects (I.e. Negate physical damage but no effect on magical damage and vice versa)

Hi there.

Thanks for the interest in the RP.

Looking over your character's CS, a few adjustments are in order before I can accept it.

First is that a Speechmaster must, by nature of the Ability, speak their Skills in order for them to work. Otherwise, they accomplish nothing.

So, if you want her to be able to write things down and have them take effect she would need a different Ability more suited to written charms. Off the top of my head, since no current examples exist in the lore page, something like "Charmer," "Charmsman/woman," or something along those lines would be more appropriate to what you have currently written for this character. And we can definitely add something like that to the RP for the sake of not having to change her too much.

Second is how the bodily modification would work since I hadn't planned on such a thing being part of the RP before. There are certainly Skills which are designed to enhance or debuff the target. But not in a way that physically manipulates the matter which makes up the target's body. They're more meant to be invisible to the naked eye and only visible in the end result, such as someone moving faster after receiving a speed buff/enhancement from an ally. However, thinking about it now it is kind of cool. And I'm game for adding it to the RP.

This is just my opinion and a random idea of mine that I'm throwing out as an option to flesh it all out, so feel free to ignore it if it doesn't interest you. But I think it'd be really cool if the corruption Ersatz is suffering from is the cause of the body modification effects she's now found herself able to perform. Under normal circumstances she would be just like every other support Ability user in that her charms would simply have an effect, but otherwise not be visible. But after being corrupted, and after some experimentation, she's now found herself able to perform this bodily modification which no other such Ability user before her has ever done which makes her truly one-of-a-kind as far as whatever new Ability you give her. Additionally, perhaps this could also factor into her demotion. The Guildmaster and other Guild officials were concerned/scared of what she was able to do after her corruption and thought her too dangerous to allow her to advance beyond F rank. Hence the demotion along with a promise/threat that she'd never rise above it, and that she's better off either accepting her fate as a permanent F Rank Adventurer, or quit the life of an Adventurer altogether.

Additionally, because these Skills are born of corruption, they are, for all intents and purposes, temporarily corrupting the target whether they're an ally or an enemy. So, there's a bit of risk involved. If she does it too much on her allies, or if she uses a Skill that's a bit too powerful in terms of potentially being an AOE skill which her allies could potentially get caught up in, she could corrupt them permanently which may or may not have adverse effects on them in the long run.

Again, this is all just an idea. So, if you're happy with what you're with feel free to disregard my ramblings here. But I really think that this kind of thing could go a long way towards not only her own personal backstory, but also potential future storylines between her and some of her soon-to-be new allies.

I gave your character a look see, and I like it so far. I do have a concern about the Skills though as there seems to be a little bit of potential for them to become OP without some kind of drawback or quirk to help balance them out.

So, here's my thoughts:

Freeshooter - This one could easily become OP if he were freely allowed to rapid fire spam it, ya know? So, something I think we can add to this one to balance it out a bit is to make it so he has to have the target in his line of sight for the Skill to activate properly.

Arc - It probably goes without saying, but to put it in black and white the object in question would need to be something he's actually capable of throwing to begin with.

Bounce - I think the best way to balance this one would be to say that whatever surface the object hits must be durable/strong enough to cause a ricochet in the first place. For example, if he threw a throwing knife with a 2" blade that landed in thigh of his target the skin and muscle it embeds itself in isn't something it would bounce off of naturally. So, Bounce would not take effect here. It would need to actually strike bone to activate the Bounce Skill upon impact. Also, the trajectory of the bounce is subject to the angle at which it strikes the surface. So, if he threw a knife into the throat of one target and struck deep enough to hit the spinal cord to activate Bounce, he would have had to throw it just right for it to Bounce out of there and strike another target. If he was off in the angle of the throw, he'd miss the intended secondary target.

I think it's kind of a given so I'm just saying it as a formality, once an object leaves the Throwers hand there is no controlling its path.

However, since I want there to be freedom to do cool stuff like hitting multiple targets, I think an inherent part of being a Thrower could be a sort of 6th sense about the trajectory of a held object. The Thrower would perceive it in a similar manner as a gun sight IRL while the sight is shining through a misty/smoky environment. Only they can see this line, and it adjusts in real time to the angle they're at, the angle the object they're aiming for is at, and accounts for Skills like Bounce and shows where the ricochet would lead if thrown right this moment.

What do you think?

a charmswoman would make a lot more sense as a section of ability, yeah! i wanted to do something like that and i figured that speechmaster would be fairly adaptable to it, but it does make sense that it would be restrictive to using ones voice lol
im glad you think its cool enough to adapt yourself to it! it was kind of spur of the moment, considering her usual abilities dont really work in this setting.
hmm. i will say, it definitely is an interesting concept, and it would change the direction i was taking with the character. though it definitely is interesting and something worth thinking about! the direction i had in mind definitely was pretty vague, so im certainly open to taking it in that kind of direction. for now ill just change some things around to fit the charmswoman ability class!

The main purpose of Freeshooter is because I want Rosaire to be more of the quickdraw trickshooting type of fellow. I don't mind having that line of sight restriction active, because Freeshooter doesn't actually enhance his throwing power/speed beyond what a 'basic' attack would be. It just allows him to do that shit quickly, subtly, and in unorthodox manners.

Arc and Bounce changes/clarifications are fine; I wasn't too certain how 'unnatural' the capabilities of Skills were meant to be, so if Bounces can only occur off of sufficiently hard surfaces, it iz wat it iz.

Having an inherent sense for trajectories and such works for me. Probably wouldn't be using the sight lines metaphor in my own writing though. In any case, while Throwers can't control shit that has left their hands, one of my ideas was to further alter trajectories by throwing shit at other objects while in midflight. Stuff like sending out an Arc toss and then using the 'descending' part of that parabolic arc as a surface with which to Bounce another thrown weapon off of. Dunno what level of skill one would need to pull that kinda stuff off though.

Apologies for the late reply! Long story short, a routine drive home on Wednesday turned into an extra 4 hours on the side of the highway courtesy of car troubles and a near miss accident. All's well and everyone is safe but my week has been weird. Also for some reason RPN hasn't been showing me notifications for new OOC posts...

I've just realized, I've added a length to Grimms smoking pipe / make shift metallic bludgeon/staff / bop you on your toe stick.
His Buyokiseri is 18 inches which is 45cm. His height of 3ft2 is around 97/98 cm. So his smoking pipe is half his height XD
