Jumping from shadow to shadow, Vienna focused on finding others. Especially other shadows. If they had anywhere near the sense of pride and duty she expected in them, they'd have been fighting this entire time as well, somewhere around the city. If they decided to hang back and be lazy, well... they'd better hope she doesn't find out.Vienna considered herself the leader of the Shadow graduates. While being the top in her class technically did not make her in charge of the others, throughout the year she had shown not only remarkable diligence and talent in hunting, but also that she would not take thier crap during exams and other times they had to work together. She was normally seemingly emotionless, but something about her comrades slacking off, making poor or overly reckless decisions, and the like angered her to no end. Besides that, she had proved herself a capable and strategically sound leader for the most part, so most of the other nine shadows trusted her judgment. There were a couple of guys in the group that didn't agree with her, but they ended up in the infirmary a good amount of the times they went off to fight Hirudos 'without a girl half our size ordering us around.' As far as Vienna was concerned, they were just idiots... anyone that would judge and downright despise someone for petty reasons like that were.
Finally, as if they had somehow heard Vienna's brooding, bitter thoughts about them, a group of 5 more shadows appeared. "Where the hell have you all been? And casey-" Before the lecture continued, the girl named casey interrupted. "I feel fine. I've been fighting despite the wound well enough. I'm not going to sit and slack off while you guys are out here fighting, especially with vince worse off than I am." Vienna wordlessly nodded in understanding of where Casey was coming from. She thought maybe it was wrong to try and keep her back... part of her knew Casey would keep fighting anyway. Vienna just doesn't like her comrades being injured... they normally end up slowing you down, and even though she'd rather not admit it, she honestly wouldn't forgive herself if one of them died. Shaking these thoughts from her head, reminding herself not to show any weakness or trepidation around her allies, she moved with the group towards the next concentration of soul essence she sensed, moving through the shadows.
As the numbers of Hirudos dwindled thanks to the combined efforts of all 70 hunter graduates, the last of them seemed to be hiding... perhaps even though they seemed to mostly be weaker ones, they had some sense that they were slowly but surely losing this battle. Unfortunately for them, retreating was not an option. Vienna wasn't going to let any of these menaces get away. Coming upon a group of several larger Hirudos, about twice the size of the average human, which there were 3 of, Vienna wordlessly pointed and signed for the others to take thier positions, then began bending the shadows around them to bombard the creatures with attacks, focusing her mind on the battle. Vienna found that fighting Hirudos was the only way she could truly clear her mind, focus on just the happenings around her instead of her thoughts, which often bothered or distressed her. Even though it was dangerous work, it was kind of like an escape to Vienna, in a way...
