Leandra and Manjano trailed into the next room with the group, both pausing at the sight of the immense table before them, both unaware of the type of wood it was. Either way, it looked tough and beautiful to the twins, both of which had a huge appreciation for nature and its beauty. Even if the table meant that a tree had to be cut down in order for it to be made.

Manjano glanced to one of the windows while silence filled the room, cocking his head ever so slightly at the faintly icy-looking windows and chilly setting just outside.

The moment the woman told them to make themselves at home, Leandra was grinning again and sitting at the table near Duik, though she was mindful to leave a seat for Alec. She figured the others who Duik was interested in could sit across from them or at Duik's other side if they wanted to.

Curious to hear about the others as well, Leandra remained quiet at the time being, as she began digging into a sandwich while Luness transitioned from Leandra's shoulder to the table itself.

Glancing at Laohu, Leandra found herself rather amazed by the tiger's appearance in general. She couldn't recall ever seeing a white one and so assumed that he was probably one of a kind for his species.

Now that she thought about it, Luness was probably one of a kind of her own species as well. That is...if they had any other phoenixes to compare Luness to. As far as Leandra was aware, Luness was the only phoenix in existence at the moment.

Glancing back at Leandra from the table, Luness cocked her head slightly and then said, "Stop being so moody, Leandra. You're ruining the moment."

Raising an eyebrow at Luness in amusement, Leandra then shrugged before saying, "Fine, fine."

While Leandra mingled with the crowd once more, Manjano had snatched a sandwich from the table and was quietly eating it while leaning against the wall near the window he'd looked out of earlier. Finding comfort in his solitude, but knowing that Falarion would want to meet the new people or at least be with them, he nodded at the table and a blur of white fur flashed in front of him, as Falarion excitedly scrambled to find a seat at the table.

Sitting beside Leandra for a bit of comfort amongst newcomers, Falarion anxiously began eating at some of the meat provided at the table. While really wanting to shout out his name and meet someone, Falarion felt nervous about doing so. What if someone thought he was weird or too excited?

While sitting still, for the most part, Falarion couldn't help but wag his tail a bit and shift about in his seat here and there.

Amused by Falarion's presence, though she of course had no way of reading the maned wolf's mind, Leandra casually leaned over and whispered to him, "You know, as long as you don't plan on shouting, it is acceptable to speak up and join the conversation."

Grinning at Leandra, Falarion let out a low bark before licking her cheek, resulting in her giggling and pulling away from him to wipe her cheek clean.

Still, Falarion decided it was best to keep quiet, especially when the woman began her presentation.

Manjano continued to silently watch everything and everyone from afar, his eyes seemingly critical of everyone unlike Alec's eyes, which appeared to be more observant than anything.

If anything, Manjano just hoped his sword 'friend' wouldn't try to give him company. At least his sister understood how much he enjoyed his solitude.

As the presentation began and the woman introduced herself as Agent Strong, both of the twins and their companions swiveled their heads in her direction. A unique team?

Leandra cocked her head at this, truly intrigued by it while Manjano scowled slightly, still a bit bitter over the fact that he had to work with other people and companions.

Curious enough to the twins though was the slight pause Agent Strong gave after she'd mentioned the team deal and her job as a recruiter. What was upsetting to her? That she had to lead some kind of ragtag team in a sense? Was she not keen on this job in particular? Or maybe she disliked someone here? Was it Simon? The one she'd given a notable look to in the lobby?

The twins' nearly in-sync thoughts were interrupted by Agent Strong, as she began speaking once more while an image of a large brown bear appeared on the screen. Who was that?

Leandra blinked in surprise at the screen, as her unasked question of who that was, was answered. Boris...and a missing agent. That didn't sound good at all.

Luness perked up at this, the food temporarily forgotten, as she worriedly looked between the screen and Leandra. Pausing to look at Leandra, Luness then said quietly and reassuringly, "I'd never do anything to hurt you, Lea..."

With a worried expression, Leandra nodded at Luness' reassurance, but still felt uneasy about this whole case to begin with.

Manjano furrowed his brows at what the Agent was insinuating with what she'd just now said. A missing agent, Boris, the companion to the missing agent, and a special case. Add that all up, and it would be safe to assume that Boris had done something to his human companion, which was nearly unheard of. At least, Manjano had never heard anything about it.

Hearing Luness reassuring Leandra, Falarion immediately turned his head around 180 degrees before he thought to Manjano, 'No worries, mate! I'll keep ya safe!'

The corner of Manjano's mouth twitched in amusement at Falarion's thoughts, but he thought instead, 'Come on, Falarion. Pay attention to the fancy Agent's presentation. You never know what we may learn from her about this case we're now on.'

Hearing Alec ask what kind of case Boris and his human companion had been investigating, Leandra found herself leaning forward in anticipation. Only to be disappointed when the Agent claimed it was classified. Well, that was helpful. Not.

Manjano cocked his head slightly at the mention of something being classified. Secrets already? That didn't take nearly as long as Manjano had guessed it would. And now they were apparently on a bounty hunt for a lost companion, who may or may not have killed his own human companion? Brilliant.

The moment that Duik asked about Boris' partner, both of the twins simultaneously scratched at the back of their heads, as they already had silently and confidently guessed what the answer was going to be. And they were right.

Both of the twins and their companions instantly exchanged nervous expressions, as much as Manjano could express one anyway, when the Agent admitted to what they'd already assumed to be true. Boris had most certainly attacked his own human companion, but why?

Hearing the Agent's offer of allowing any of them to walk free before accepting the job, neither of the twins nor their companions even flinched. If there was a rogue animal companion wandering the world and threatening others or even beginning some weird kind of spirit animal rebellion, then the twins and their companions refused to leave this room.

It was moments like this, where all four of them would simultaneously think alike without oftentimes even realizing it. Growing up together nearly 24/7 did things like this to people.

Glancing around the room, the twins soon realized all they could do for now was wait to see if anyone actually decided to leave the room.

Shifting his gaze to Simon in particular considering his and the agent's reactions from earlier upon seeing one another, Manjano wondered if he would try to leave at all. Raising his eyebrow in a rather critical manner, Manjano then silently watched Simon from where he was leaning up against the wall by the window.

((Ugh, too early to try to write lol))

Beth and Totus stepped into the room, taking note of everything before sitting down like they haf been invited to. Lea's brother, who did have the same unique looks, remained aloof against a window. Alec stayed apart as well, and she wanted to do the same, but Totus rubbed his beak against her ear and she had no choice but to sit down at the table. She chose to sit at the opposite end of the presentation. Even though it was a little presumptious to sit at the head of the table, it put everyone but Alec in her line of vision. Totus perched on the back of her chair, cocking his head at the food. Beth reached forward, taking a few bits of meat onto a plate. She broke them up into smaller chunks, so Totus wouldnt have to rip them apart himself, which could be very distracting if not disgusting. He hopped onto the table and began to eat, and Beth absently stroked his downy feathers while she took in the presentation.

First, the woman was indeed a recruiting officer. And she didnt seem too happy about it. Beth frowned, knowing that the woman's personal drama was the least of her concern when she hit the button to change the slide.

To a photo of a bear. Beth tensed. To notice, someone would have had to be looking right at her at that exact moment, and she hoped they were all focused on the presentation. Totus stopped eating for a moment. His realization of her feelings was comdort enough to Beth, and Alec's question brought her back to earth.

The response wasnt surprising. But if their job was to find a missing bear, Beth certainly felt she had something to contribute. Totus gulped down the last piece of meat as Druik spoke. His eyes turned to the agent as her demeanor changed slightly, her eyes shifting to the man with the gorilla again. He knew something more about all this..

Beth tensed at the implication of what Agent Strong said. The only reason she could think of to track a bear of a dead person, was if the bear had done it. Nothing could be learned from him, as he was supposed to revert back to bear-normalcy. But if he had killed the agent.. It would be as important to find him, infinitely more important than it was to find any unpaired bear that had a taste for killing humans. Totus looked at Beth as the invitation to leave was extended. He hoped that she would take care of herself for once, and get up and leave before things got too dangerous. He should have listened to her instincts outside..

Beth stayed in her chair, resolute. As Totus knew she would. She could do nothing but stay, when told people needed help or protection. And, if this ran deeper like they thought, it was definitely protecting the people. Beth refused to look down at Totus, knowing he wanted her to back down. He always did, when bears were involved. He always thought her past, her sensitivity, should send her running at the sight of a bear. But she knew that what had happened had no real connection to bears as companions. In her case, the human had been the bad apple. It just so happened that this time, things were reversed, and much, much worse. And, as usual, she wasnt going anywhere.

Zoe paid little attention to the beautiful hotel as they walked towards the designated room. She was now eager to face the truth and was felt prepared, up to the task. She along with the others entered the similar, large room and found herself a comfortable place to stand next to the window, leaning against the wall. She watched as the others entered, some of them grinning playfully, others just socializing with the rest. A hint of disgust quickly vanished from her expression as she watched with stoic expression how they were offered snacks.

" With all due respect, " she started " I would much rather hear your proposal first. I am not hungry, thank you. "

" It is fortunate that we share that bond not. " Eos murmured and her carefully walked up to the others, starting to eat from the delicious food that was prepared. He looked around, trying to find a good place to dine.

" Excuse me, my noble lady. " he said as he found a good place next to Leandra and now listened intently.

As Agent Strong introduced herself it was clear to Zoe that she was not really happy about her current position. It would explain her earlier reaction as well but she was not here to pry such information from her. As the tale went on her fears have been realized: everyone here was recruited to join the Watch as able bodied warriors... a true nightmare.

But what came next was even more dreadful.

" Ferals... " she hissed, hearing about Boris' companion... but she could stay silent no longer. She saluted to Strong and started speaking.

" Ma'am it is clear to all of us, especially to you and me, that this task is perilous to say the least. You probably are aware of the consequences of a companion's death. " she frowned " Finding Boris might be the aim of the mission... but is it not dangerous to disregard the risks? I do not know how much faith you have in this Boris of yours but the potential that he - "

" That is enough, Zoe! " Eos spoke up, surprising his companion who then immediately silenced herself. It has been a long while since she saw Eos this furious... she just frowned and leaned against the wall again. The stag, now his fury vanishing, nodded.

" We understand what thou say - and we shalt answer thy call. " he murmured, looking around " I think I speak about this commitment yet I am not alone - the brave souls listening to thee in this room are probably eager to aid thy friend in need. " he stomped with his hoof " Thy will be done, Agent. I shall join the hunt. "

" You insufferable... " Zoe connected her mind to Eos for just a moment, the noble animal feeling her lingering gaze on him. But this time he snorted, standing firm and resolute. Zoe did remain silent for a moment... but then she spoke up.

" Yes, I concur, ma'am. " she sighed finally " Your agent needs help so I shall not forsake him. I accept the mission and now I stand ready - unlike some others here... " she looked around swiftly, a dangerous zeal in her eyes.

Eos wanted to retort but he restrained himself. He shall not censor her now. If she brings calamity upon herself then she shall do it alone.

Simon followed after Xaio a short ways as she took off towards the room where it seemed they were being lead. He shouldered his bag once more as Jimbo walked up beside him and let out a small gruff.

"No one said there would be a friggin Tiger."

Simon chuckled a bit to himself. It had always been that Simon and Jimbo had been able to feel each others emotions very clearly. When Jimbo would get freaked out by big cats, Simon could feel the unease. Of course, it worked both ways, and as Simon looked up he noticed a young man walking into the room, with a large white python wrapped around him and a cold chill shot up Simon spine. Jimbo looked in the direction of the young man and then to Simon wearing a stupid smirk.

As the pair walked into the room he heard the Hyena, Duik, speaking to Xaio as they found a seat. Simon was about to find a seat more towards the back when Jimbo continued lumbering forward and pulled up a seat across from them. Simon found this a bit unusual but continued on with them as Jimbo reached for the bowl of food he had been offered and grabbed a fist full of crackers. Simon looked up to see Strong motioning to begin the briefing, causing Simon to sigh.

As he sat and listened to what Agent Strong had to say, Simon couldn't help but raise an eyebrow when she had mentioned Recruiting officer. That was interesting to say the least, and Simon couldn't help but make a "wait what" kind of expression for a moment. The moment passed quickly as Simon listened to the intel. When the picture of Boris came up, he had a moment of recognition with the bear and tried to remember if he had ever met Boris or his partner. But when Strong told them that the partner was deceased, Simon simply sighed and leaned back a bit.

Jimbo could feel Simon's frustration growing, and the gorilla grabbed Simon's ankle with his opposable foot under the table. The pair shared a momentary glance at one another before Simon relaxed a bit more and stood up. It was the first time he had a chance to see the entire group at once. In the lobby they had all be spread out that he had only been able to focus on one at a time, now he could see them all at once. Some looked more prepared than others, the same as before, and Simon couldn't help but feel deja vu setting in. He sighed before looking at Strong, his settling on hers as he crossed his arms over his chest. He wanted so bad to turn around and leave this room and never look back, and Jimbo new it too. But to the big lugs surprise Simon relaxed a bit and shrugged.

"Jimbo and I are in. Granted we are not in for any surprises along the way."

There was a drop of venom to Simon's words, and by the look on his face he had meant for it to be noticed. This only made Jimbo cringe a bit as he stuffed crackers into his mouth.

Okay.... So Ash turned out to be a bit late, sure, sure he was only eight blocks away. But hey! Life is unpredictable, so it's totally not his fault in the slightest! Had he known that he would have met that angel Elizabeth on his way to get some breakfast.... Well he wouldn't change it sure, but he would have been more prepared! If only he had time to buy one rose, though that wouldn't be enough to measure up to even a fraction of that women's beauty, then it wouldn't have taken him so long to convince her to come and eat breakfast with him.

Also! Had the waiter not been on the slow side (though he didn't blame the poor soul for that) then he would have gotten the women's phone number at such a late time. But he was here now! Annnnd turns out someone was dead...wait what? What the hell did he miss?

He came into the room just as the group was told that someone had been deceased, and from the look of the screen, he assumed it was that ferocious looking creature. "Poor creature." He said with a soft tone as he hanged his head and shook it a few times as did Fei (Though he was in the middle of braiding Ash's hair...not that Ash was aware of it). When he looked up he looked around at the others before looking ahead. "Already trying to get people to leave? Well sorry to say but there's no way I can bring myself to leave....especially and such beautiful and unique people will be staying for the mission." He announced after he heard others who declared to stay. And he must say, not only were there a vast amount of unique creatures, but he already spotted...one, two, three, four plus beauties in the room. 'Turly amazing what god and genetics can do.' He thought with a smile before his ear got pulled by the white monkey that had been sitting on his shoulder all this time.

'Pssst We don't know what this mission is about... Shouldn't you wait for the details before saying I do?" Fie whispered with a soft snicker. Ash sighed and shook his head once as he listened to his mischief friend. "No need, whatever it is I shall do it, after all I can't bear to turn my back when so many plan to do this." "..... Did you just..." Ash shrugged and looked ahead. "Just what?" He asked with a smirk on his face making the white monkey sight before grabbing his nose for a few seconds as he jumped to a chiar and then to the ground. "You know what Kehehe. But.... There is free food, I'm so in!" He exclaimed as he hopped on the chairs making a dash for the food.

Once he arrived he sat on the table and looked around before grabbing a plate of small sandwiches which he started to greedily eat. Hope no one wanted those cause he has claimed them as his now.

Rin followed the group along. Once in the next room he found himself not too far away from the gentleman he ran into earlier. "I guess we were bound to meet regardless" He said mainly to himself and Haku. He could read the man's need for solitude, he felt the same, especially before a new mission. He listened patiently as agent strong briefed the group. He stared into his glass, absorbing it all. Looking up only when when a different voice took over. He merely glanced up to see who was speaking now, he noticed it was a younger woman, closer to his age. She seemed hardened for her age, but the same could be said about him. He went to take another sip of his drink when he heard her voice rising, and her attitude sharpening enough to make her words snap like an insult to his very own being. Who was this, this child? And what makes her think she's ready over anyone else here? Rin thought to himself, bristling with anger. He felt Haku shift and rub her smooth scales against his cheek as she rose her head. "Relax, it wouldn't do to start fighting with your team before the mission starts. I've taught you better" she whispered to him as he had stood up away from the wall, his drink already searching for a table top. He sighed, Haku was right as usual. "Besides, her companion seems to have a much cooler head on his shoulders and has already reigned her in some." She added as an after thought. Rin nodded, but his move from the wall was so sudden, he would look a fool if it was for nothing. So he stood straight and eyes the girl anyway. "With all due respect, I don't think you know anyone in this room anymore than you know me. It is unfair, and an insult upon my person to be judged by you in such a manner." Haku rolled her eyes and smiled at the rest of the room, she was hoping he would just stay quiet, keep the attention off of them. But of course, his sense of honor and duty always seemed to conflict with both his, and her instincts.

Totus's eyes flickered around the room as others spoke. Once again, he noted the simmering emotions between the agent and this Simon. The team was no where near cohesive, already the anti-social girl was insulting everyone and one was already rising to the bait, as others soon would, and one unfamiliar male was struggling to keep it in his pants.

Totus began to shift on his talons. Beth had bowed her head slightly, looking down at the table and nowhere else and was clearly not going to say anything. But the owl fixed his eyes on the woman, Agent Strong. Ignoring the fact he was proving the angry girl right, he spoke.

"If the only mission is to find this missing bear, I know why my Beth and I have been sought. But why all these others? This is a lot of people for one animal, and I doubt their skills are all so focused on finding. If this organization is going to be dishonest about its intentions for this team, I would encourage Beth to-"

Beth raised a hand from her lap, placing it on the table and giving one fingernail a tap. "Totus." Her voice held no emotion, but his beak snapped shut. His feathers began to ruffle, making him look larger. "You know me better than that." Beth said simply, smoothing his plumage with a gentle hand.

Their short disagreement was over just like that, and Beth looked around the table, and then at Agent Strong. Her green eyes held for a moment, then she blinked at the same moment Totus did. "My Totus will keep his protectiveness in check until we complete this mission, and any others that arise. He meant no offense; his concern was only for my safety." She said surely, as the embarrassed owl hopped back to the back of her chair. For the briefest moment, Beth's eyes flickered to Zoe, but then they turned out the window as she listened to the rest of the conversation.

They entered the room just in time to hear the presentation. As they watched, Mailk had his eyes drifting towards the large spread of food. Well, until Boris was shown. The small dragon gave a high pitchedsl squeak of horror before falling backwards off of Vera's shoulder. Unable to right himself, he landed upon his back with a audible 'thump' accompanied by a groan.

With a sigh, the young woman crouched down and grabbed his glasses that had flown off of him in the process. Handing them to Malik, he flushed with embarrassment whilst putting them on, the scales on his face hued more of a red then blue. Hoisting himself back up onto her shoulder, they both listened to the rest of the the agent had to say as she returned to a standing position.

It was quite interesting, hearing the various responses. But after most went silent, Vera glanced at her companion who gave her a 'I-am-terrified-to-do-this-but-it's-your-call' shrug.

"Alright. We're in."

At this point, Malik looked at her once more then to the table of food with the eyes of a wanting child. They had been so rushed to get here that they both didn't get any time to eat. Returning his unasked question with a nod, he jumped off of her shoulder and began to fly. Maneuvering carefully as to not hit anyone.

Leandra was surprised out of her thoughts when suddenly the silent woman from the lobby saluted the Agent (Why'd she salute her? Do they know each other or something? Is this supposed to be some kind of military organization now?) and began speaking.

As the woman continued through her tirade, Leandra was initially irritated by her seemingly disregard for how strong or capable anyone else in this room could be. Yet, Leandra soon was merely amused, as the stag seemed to be able to calm down the irate woman despite her verbal lashing at the end. Sheesh, she was going to be a handful in the future for sure.

And with that in mind, Leandra concluded to avoid the woman at all costs. After all, Leandra was proud of her ability to be calm and cheerful in all scenarios, but that woman might very well bring out the worst in her.

Luness walked up to Leandra from the table and leaned forward before cocking her head and whispering, "I wouldn't worry about her, Lea. I have a feeling she's all talk and no action."

Sighing, Leandra then whispered back, "Yeah, I know, but that's the problem. Her talk is going to push all of us to our limits."

This was then proven almost immediately when the man with the white snake stepped forward and reacted to the woman's comments. Great, an argument already and they still didn't even know all of each other's names.

Meanwhile, Manjano silently watched from his place by the window, clearly irritated by the woman's words, though he made no move to say anything about it.

Falarion uneasily shifted about in his seat at the table, his ears folded against his head since he hated it when people argued.

Narrowing his eyes at the woman when she declared that apparently nobody else here was ready for anything, Manjano tensed up and almost, almost spoke up about it. Alas, he still managed to keep his mouth shut about it. He'd prove himself when the time came. He didn't need to build himself up with words or pride right now.

Falarion let out a small whimper at Manjano's anger and unease, and he quickly thought to him, 'Don't worry about it, mate! Like you thought, we'll just prove ourselves when the time comes. The woman clearly doesn't know what she's talking about.'

Scowling, Manjano thought back, 'Yeah, to hell she knows anything about what she's saying. She'll be sorry that she ever said anything like that when she's down in a fight or battle and I look the other way.'

Lowering his head and shrinking slightly in his seating, Falarion whimpered before thinking, 'B-but...she's a part of our team now. We can't let anyone fall!'

Regaining his composure despite being unable to relax now, Manjano then calmly thought to Falarion, 'She won't be getting any help from me if you, Leandra, or Luness are in danger. Family comes first for me. Team or no team.'

Hoping nobody had noticed how he had been acting during their silent communication, Falarion tried to relax in his seating, letting his ears pop back up and digging into some more meat nearby, albeit he did so rather noisily and messy.

Having clearly noticed Falarion's actions, Leandra sighed and rolled her eyes before leaning over to Falarion and whispering, "What'd he say this time?"

Falarion's ears immediately pinned against his head and he shook his head before eating some more meat and then drinking some water from a bowl on the table.

Shaking her head at Falarion's lack of communication with her, Leandra turned to glare at her brother, but stopped when she heard someone else speak up.

Shifting her gaze to the large man who that woman had bumped into earlier, Leandra blinked upon hearing the venomous tone in his voice when he mentioned there being no surprises. What exactly did he mean by that? Everyone here surely had their own private secrets from whatever lives they had lived prior to this mission. Did he want them all to spill their beans or something? Or was he referring to the Agent holding back information from them?

Letting out a sigh, Leandra began poking at her half-eaten sandwich, as she realized this was not going to be an easy group to get along with. At least Alec and Duik seemed friendly enough. Beth and Totus also appeared to be friendly, if not reserved.

Hearing the large man speak in a confident and dangerous tone, Manjano couldn't help but roll his eyes. What was with all the attitudes here? Didn't anyone here understand that in order to work well together, even if one didn't want to, they had to stop acting like children with oversized egos?

Still though, the man did make a fair point. Surprises would definitely make things harder on them or worse depending on the situation. If they could get all the information necessary right off the bat, then they wouldn't have too much to worry about with this job.

Suddenly, a young man appeared at the edge of the room and seemed to proudly proclaim that he wasn't going anywhere...with rather specific reasons.

Blinking at the reasons for why he was staying, Manjano soon was frowning at this man's clear display of lack of discipline. Yet another difficult person to work with.

Despite Manjano's dislike for the young man, Leandra found herself amused by his proclamation and found herself liking his monkey companion. He had to have a strong sense of humor.

Plus, the man wasn't that bad of a looker either...

Hearing a male voice speaking quietly to him, Manjano's gaze turned sharply to the side only to find the man with the snake standing with him. Brilliant, now this guy thought he and Manjano were friends or something. Maybe if he just ignored the guy long enough, he'd stop trying to make something out of nothing.

Seeing the man suddenly move from his position against the wall after hearing the woman's sharp words, Manjano bristled, because anyone looking at the man would now be able to look at Manjano as well. All Manjano wanted to do was hide from prying eyes at the moment.

Hearing what the man said next though, made Manjano subtly raise an eyebrow. The man certainly made a fair point. Though, Manjano somehow doubted the woman would fully hear his words.

Leandra heard the man standing near Manjano speak up and speak for everyone in the room. Having taken the time to choose to not say anything openly about the woman since that would only add to the tension, Leandra hoped that the woman wouldn't lash out at the man for saying such words, even if they were true.

Yet, before Leandra could even consider pitching in with the man, Totus spoke up and seemingly took the irate woman's side.

Blinking in surprise at this, Leandra then realized the owl was making a fair point, though he knew not what the others were capable of.

Feeling a tad angered by all of this pre-judgement crap, Leandra then suddenly stood up and said sharply, "Look, can we stop judging everyone before we know what they can do? This is just ridiculous."

Luness quickly flew to Leandra's shoulder and then spoke up as well, saying, "Leandra and I are great healers for both animals and humans alike when we're working together or even apart."

Leandra nodded at this and then slowly looked around the room while saying, "If any of you want to say what you're capable of, then feel free to do so, but we have no reason to be fighting amongst ourselves before we even know each other."

Hearing his sister speaking, Manjano subconsciously looked down at the ground, praying inwardly that his sister wouldn't call him out or anything. Luckily, she didn't.

Suddenly, Falarion's thoughts erupted, as he excitedly thought, 'We should explain ourselves, too! I can speak for us if you want! Please! Plea-' 'No.'

Keeping his thoughts calm despite his irritation at the speech Leandra just said, Manjano didn't like the idea of having to prove himself with words alone. 'We'll prove ourselves useful throughout this job. Not with words.'

Sighing, Falarion lay his head down on the edge of the table while he waited for someone else to say something next.

Zoe watched as others entered the room. Now a boy and shortly after his a girl... fascinating, it seems the suicide squad had now an increasing amount of members... these people seriously had no idea what they were talking about, or what they were getting into. She was about to space out and remain silent when a young man with a snake as companion stepping up... and seemingly mocking her. A wide, almost sinister grin appeared on her expression as she grunted.

" Oh but i know much about you, boy. " she said with confidence " I need but to look in your eyes to see the fear within you. You need not to play the hero you know, many who do that die. A gruesome death. "

" Zoe...! " Eos tried to intervene but this time it was she who silenced her companion and stepped forward. As she heard the owl speak she nodded and her eyes met with Beth's. She felt the distrust and ire in her gaze as she nodded to the words of her companion.

" Listen to the owl. " Zoe said " At least he seems to know the truth. At least he has the wisdom to see the folly of this... group mission. "

She looked around, her eyes stopping momentarily at Simon and Jimbo. She nodded to herself, they did seem to be capable, true warriors... but the others...

She turned to Rin once more.

" Tell me, how many times did you face Ferals, boy? " she asked silently " How many times did you go into battle alone, or with your team? How many times did you even wield a gun for that matter? How many times did you feel the cold embrace of death sneaking up on you, how many times did you escape from the brink of destruction? "

She slammed the table with the refreshments.

" This is the real world now. " she said " Here you CAN die as easily just as everyone else! You are no superheroes, you are not invincible, all knowing geniuses: we are but mortal men, we are fragile and if you are reckless or careless you pay with your LIFE. This is no longer an exciting opportunity you know... this is dead serious. "

Her attention now shifted to Leandra as she spoke and to Luness as well. She actually found it pretty brave for the two of them that they are trying to quell this unrest but it was really foolish as well - she just chuckled at the thought of healing.

" You THINK you are ready, don't you? Just because you THINK you are powerful and strong does not mean that you actually are! No amount of healing will save you if you face a massive beast alone, when it goes for your throat! No amount of speed will be enough when you are running away from a frenzied leopard! No amount of tenacity will help you when a bear wants to rip your chest open! "

Zoe stopped for a moment, realizing that she was losing her calmness. After exhaling and cooling down a bit she continued.

" Do you think that I know not what fire burns within your hearts? The hope of youth, the passion of kindness and the will of saving others from certain death? I bet some of you just think that I am talking because I don't think you are good enough. And truth be told - with some exceptions - yes: I think you are not ready yet. Hearing but the details of this mission I can already feel danger lurking around every corner, my instincts tell me that this will be much more difficult than anything you have ever faced. "

She leaned back against the wall, her tone returning to normal.

" In my eyes all of you are just enthusiastic, hopeful children - no matter how offensive that sounds. If I were the leader in this mission and I were the one choosing recruits then I would send one or maximum two of us to battle. The rest of you should just remain here and train. "

Eos finally spoke up, calmly.

" Luckily for us it is not for you to decide. "

" Yes, how fortunate for you. " she said, truly irritated " You rush headlong into the unknown, without the slightest trace of fear. Fear is not bad you know: those who forget how to fear forget how to survive... " she closed her eyes and sighed. This will be a very bothersome mission.

Malik had just landed atop the table when it was slammed, almost toppling over onto a plate of asssorted fruits if not for his tail and wings splayed quite commicly as he fought to keep his balance. The pair had no idea what was going on, with people spewing out thier morals and opinions left and right. It was chaos really. Though something had to be said. The dragon waited for the one ranting to finish before he cleared his throat and began in a small, unsure voice. "W-well, maybe if we all just...settle down a bit...we could..u-um..." He adjusted his glasses, a nervous tick if you will. "Possibly learn...w-why everyone has their s-stance upon the matter..."

If you couldn't tell, he was terrified.

"For s-ome...I can assume that...they have never felt r-real...fear meaning they've never b-been in a dangerous senario or just lack common sense. Others, are t-t-taking way to much of a cau..tious aproach due t-to past experiences...n-no doubt..." Malik trailed off, awaiting a reponce whilst Vera continued.

"Going off of what Malik said, we don't have to be so...strict in what we are doing. Hell some of us don't even know what we are even here for. Being cautious is good, yes. We all have that little instinct that makes us afraid and anxious. Some more then others..." She shot a humerous glance at the dragon who was gripping the end of his tail nervously. "But if we give into it a bit too much, then we get what had just happened here." She gestured to the one who had been screaming. "Some of us may seem all mighty and powerful, but seriously. If that bear walked in here right now, I bet half of you would shit your pants while screaming for help."

Vera finished and awaited for someone else to reply.

Simon turned to watch the enlarging chaos as some of the others seemed butt head. He liked the idea the girl with what Simon assumed was a Phoenix, had suggested about learning more about one another. But before he could agree, the girl leaning against he wall began to go off so Simon waited for things to settle a bit more. Jimbo continued to eat his crackers a bit like someone would eat popcorn at the movies as the girl ranted. Simon sat on the table facing the ones that bickering and simply smiled. The girl had a point, if they only knew what they were getting themselves into.

The girl with the attitude had some very valid points. Simon had seen it as well in many of the new recruits, they were untrained, untested, and many of them looked at this as an adventure to be had. Simon new better, he knew The Watch and he new what kind of things they might come up against. Even more so, he knew the consequences of what might happen to many of them should they fail. He had seen it before, luckily he had vowed to never see it again.

That is why Simon stood up and walked a bit away from his seat, despite Jimbo's gaze telling him to stay out of it.

"Your a feisty one. That will get you a long way. But don't forget that you can only go so far by yourself. It's going to take a team to get this done, and Agent Strong has assembled all of us here for that very reason."

He said glancing at the girl and the stag. He turned back towards Strong and tried to give her his best approval look he could.

"I believe that The Watch asked for all of your assistance for one reason or another, and Agent Strong wouldn't have asked any of you here if someone didn't believe in you. So I will put my faith in the team."

Simon looked back at the girl and gave her a reassuring smile.

"You should too."

Simon looked to the girl with the dragon and was in agreement with what both the dragon and the girl from before had to say as well. So Simon walked back over to Jimbo and clapped a hand on the big apes shoulder, who nearly coughed up a mouth full of crackers out of surprise.

"I like the dragons idea. How can we expect to work as a team when we know nothing of each other? How about we start eh? My names Simon Sinclair, and this is my brother Jimbo. We run an auto mechanic shop in down town Detroit. This isn't our first rodeo with The Watch. We were field technicians during a mission five years ago. So we keep the mechanical stuff running.

As Simon spoke, his big goofy seemed to dim a bit at the mention of the mission five years ago. But after that, he seemed to perk up and threw his arms in to the air flexing his muscles as he bragged about his technical skills. Jimbo was much less impressed and tossed a cracker at Simon before throwing a couple more into his mouth.

Simon brushed the cracker from his hair and looked out over the other.

"Who's next?"

Beth glanced away from the window, seemingly unaffected by the sudden outburst and response. "Do not misunderstand my Totus. He means well, even if he speaks poorly. His point was meant for Agent Strong; he does not agree with my willingness to participate when the people in charge refuse to give all the pertinent information out front. I think, Miss, that your mentions of "Ferals" is completely foreign to most of us. And I wonder why Agent Strong has deemed it wise to keep it from us when some already know." Beth gave the Agent a glance, taking in her entire appearance for a moment before looking at the others who had spoken. Her eyes settled on the nervous dragon, as Simon spoke, and she gave the poor creature a small smile.

"But I agree, arguing among ourselves is no help when none of us are leaving. We might as well learn to deal with each other. My name is Elizabeth, go by Beth, and this is Totus." She said, reaching up and giving him a rub on the side of his head. "We are trained in search and rescue, until today we were working for the Seattle Police department. Wilderness survival, hunting, tracking, thats our thing. We find people. His natural abilities make us very effective, he's taught me everything I know."

Totus, now over his embarrassment from Beth chastising him, spoke up.

"Beth is also very organized and a fair cook. That might have been the most words she's ever said in a row." He added, in a jovial tone.

The girl rolled her eyes and turned a little red, and in his excitement to be embarrassing her, Totus bobbed his body up and down a few times. Beth reached a hand up, as if to push him from the chair, but he took her finger gently in his beak for a moment, then released it and she rubbed the side of his head again.

Even though the two seemed unbothered by the tension, they both knew better. That young woman, who seemed enraged and under the impression they were headed into full-scale war, she worried them. The fact that this team seemed to be made up entirely of "angry recluses" and "bubbly optimists" worried them. The lack of information worried them. The word feral worried them. They both knew they were in over their heads, but they couldn't back out now. Beth was dead set on helping, and Totus was dead set on keeping her safe.

The minute Zoe began shouting and getting loud again, Leandra sighed inwardly before sitting down with a huff and grabbing the nearest sandwich.

Luness flew back to the table and then began pecking at some seeds nearby while thinking to Leandra, 'Well, she's very outspoken about her own ideas and opinions.'

Grinning at this, Leandra then said quietly in between Zoe's shouting match, which seemed to be more with herself at this point than with anyone else, "You can say that again, Lune. At least we know who the most passionate person is here. Maybe we should designate her as our speech person should we ever need to present some evidence from our job or whatever. I bet if she says the right things, she could help cheer us up in the moment."

Bobbing her head in agreement at this, Luness finished her beak-ful of seeds before pausing while Zoe started shouting about something else again. Once Zoe was done, Luness then said calmly and quietly, "I wonder how difficult she was with her parents."

Quietly laughing at this, Leandra then whispered to Luness, who leaned over to hear Leandra better, "I honestly feel terrible for her parents to have to have dealt with this kind of attitude all of those years."

Hearing Simon's introduction once Zoe was done ranting, Leandra wondered why they would be needing Simon and Jimbo's mechanical expertise. Were they going to get some fancy vehicles for the job or some fancy technology?

When Beth introduced herself and Totus more formally, Leandra found herself resting her head on her arms and leaning onto the table, her eyes wide with interest. Someone with such skill sets would definitely be useful, especially if someone were to get lost in them middle of their job or some fight.

Amused by Totus' bobbing of his body, Leandra teasingly poked at Luness before saying, "Hey, you've done that before, haven't you?"

Chortling in response, Luness then retorted, "I have no idea what you mean, my dear" before promptly bobbing her head up and down a few times.

Rolling her eyes and grinning, Leandra then ruffled some of Luness' feathers with her hand before affectionately scratching her on the head.

Glancing back at Beth in time to see her turn red in embarrassment, Leandra found herself grinning, as all she could think of was how cute Beth looked when she was embarrassed.

Bobbing her head again, Luness then cheekily thought, 'I think you might want to get to know the girl first before you try anything else.'

Rolling her eyes at this, Leandra then retorted quietly, "Hush, Lune. I know what I'm doing here."

Leaning back in her chair at the moment, Leandra mulled over the introductions so far and found herself mostly thinking about Malik, the water dragon. It had been extremely unusual when Luness had bonded with Leandra. How did Malik and Vera meet one another?

Manjano began rubbing his temples in irritation, as a headache began rolling over from all of the excessive shouting. Why was it so necessary to shout anyways? They were all in the room together and it wasn't like anybody was trying to talk over the crazed woman. This was exhausting and Manjano wasn't even involving himself.

Falarion was more than intrigued by everything being said though, as his head whipped back and forth between everyone speaking, his ears perked up and his tongue hanging out of the side of his mouth in a comical manner.

Amused by the way Falarion was looking currently, Manjano felt himself relax slightly, which was a huge benefactor of the two being paired together. Falarion tended to bring out the best in Manjano, as well as help him relax in moments like these.

Listening to Simon's introductions, Manjano wondered what kind of technology they were going to be getting to use for their job. After all, Simon and Jimbo wouldn't have been asked to join them if there were no vehicles or things to fix.

Before anyone else had a chance to offer introductions, Beth suddenly introduced herself and Totus, as well as their skill set. It definitely sounded like they'd be of use on the team if anything were ever to go wrong.

When there was a moment of calm in between the introductions, Manjano glanced over at the water dragon, Malik was it?, and wondered to himself how that pair had come to be. Surely, another mythical creature had been an unusual bonding process for the pair. Much like how unusual it had been for Leandra and Luness.

Glancing back at Manjano, Falarion suddenly got excited and barked at him while thinking, 'Hey! We should introduce ourselves! Simon says we should!'

Raising an eyebrow at this, Manjano's smart humor briefly surfaced, as he thought back, 'I don't like childish games, Falarion.'

Grinning at this and barking again, Falarion's tail began wagging before he responded, 'It's not a game! The large man's name is Simon!'

Amused, Manjano shook his head before repeating what he'd said before, 'We can prove ourselves through actions and I'm not exactly keen to tell anyone my personal details after that scene.' Pausing, Manjano then returned to his neutral expression before he thought, 'You can at least give out our names and tell them that I'm related to Leandra though. That should satisfy them enough for now.'

Practically wagging his butt with his tail now, Falarion almost jumped onto the table before he quipped in right after Simon had asked who was next, "I'm Falarion, a maned wolf to be specific, and some people would say I look like a mix between a wolf and a fox! Oh, and my human companion is Manjano! He's the moody one standing against the wall over there!"

Glancing towards Manjano for approval, Falarion grinned when he saw Manjano facepalming after the way Falarion had described him. Quickly continuing before Manjano decided to stop him, Falarion added, "Manjano is Leandra's twin brother and we've all grown up together since we first bonded with one another!"

Letting his hand drop back to being crossed over his chest, Manjano then thought to Falarion, 'All right, that's enough for now, Falarion.'

Still grinning and satisfied with his introductions, Falarion abruptly sat down on his rump, his tail still wagging, before thinking back, 'Okay!'

Amused by Falarion's introductions for himself and Manjano, even laughing when Manjano was embarrassed by Falarion's words, Leandra then stood back up to introduce herself a bit more formally.

Taking a deep breath and hoping that the Zoe person wouldn't blow up again, Leandra then said, "All right, well, I'm Leandra, as Falarion here already said."

Pausing from her introductions, Leandra scratched Falarion behind the ear affectionately, resulting in his leg kicking out of sheer enjoyment.

Continuing her introductions once more, Leandra said, "If you guys haven't noticed already from Falarion's accent or even my accent, we're all from Australia. Born and raised, more or less." After saying this, Leandra paused with a look of apprehension, as she debated if she should share the foster kid stuff or if it was too early on to bother with such details.

Luness lightly bumped her head into Leandra's side to reassure her while whispering, "You don't have to share something if you're not comfortable with it, dear."

Blinking, Leandra nodded at these words of encouragement before continuing, "Right, well, I met Luness on my ceremonious bonding day, but I actually met her before we ended up leaving for the ceremony itself. I was at school that day and...uh, something happened and Luness protected me. We've been inseparable ever since."

While it wasn't the most detailed explanation, it was better than nothing and Leandra felt like the bonding process with a mythical creature was sure to be a unique one, as it surely had been for Leandra. After all, she and Luness never met until the fight that ended with Leandra's scars and the blinding of both Manjano and Falarion.

Quickly continuing before anyone decided to ask for more details, Leandra added, "I've graduated early from college and have a degree in both veterinary practice and pre-med. So, yeah, I'm a great person to come to or ask for help if you're injured. Human or animal."

Hoping that was a good enough introduction, Leandra then quickly sat down and looked around to see who would introduce themselves next. Hopefully no questions would be asked of her.

Malik's self confidence was boosted slightly when the others began taking his idea into consideration. Though that still didn't do much considering that he was still incredibly frightened by the thought of speaking to a group. Grabbing a cracker and shoving it into his small maw, the dragon quickly few back over to Vera. Landing upon her shoulder, he gnawed on his snack nervously as they both listened to the introductions.

Once the last pair, Leandra and Lunuss, had finished, Vera began to speak once more. Well, I'm Vera and this is Malik. Yes he is a water dragon, and to save you the details of our bonding I was going to be extremely lucky and get stuck with a pig. Though he flew right in the middle of the ceremony, trying to get away from a small hoard of bees that were chasing him." The dragon grinned sheepishly. "I uh...don't like those n-nasty things." "Anyway, I've been out of college for quite some time, a computer science major so all things technology. Come see me. If you are looking for a nice bit of poetry, see him."

As Malik opened his jaws to start listing off a few authors, she shoved a large Apple wedge in his mouth. He gave her a disappointed glance though began to chew the fresh fruit happily,

Rin bristled at the girl, Zoe as Eos had called. Zoe's words. His free hand reached down for his sword, not of his own will, but something that happens when he feels challenged, threatened, or insulted. His blood was beginning to boil, and he was running thin on patience today. He felt something wet in his other hand. Then a tightening around his sword arm. "Relax, it wasn't too long ago that you were as full of fire and as quick to jump as she was" He heard Haku's voice in his head. Soothing, calming the fire that was rising in him. It wasn't until she spoke that he realized his hand was on his sword. He looked to his wet hand to see that he had cracked the glass and his drink was leaking through. He took a deep breath and looked at the girl, his voice now calm but still firm he spoke. "As I said, my name is Rin Takeda. This is Hakuji" Haku rose from his arm to settle on his shoulders again. Raising her head to be level with his and to see everyone, and to be seen by everyone. She was nervous, people tended to hate snakes. But she was with Rin, and being near him always helps her. Besides, they had work to do. "About me, I am what you know as a Samurai, I hate guns. I am proficient in toxicology and pharmaceuticals. I have worked for the watch for several years now." He resumed speaking, the last bit with a pointed look at Zoe, he would not press her issue further, but he was not one to back down, or take an insult laying down either. "My past is not of much concern but this is not my first rodeo, as the Americans say." With that he finished his Manhattan and placed the glass on a near table. He walked over to an empty corner of the room and sat down, quietly trying to continue calming himself, watching the others. Listening to the others.

((Ok, this is a lot longer than what I wanted, but I felt the need to try and response to as much as I could while advancing the story ^^' ))

Strong’s eyes shifted back to Simon as he replied. His words stung badly and she shot him a warning look, trying not to seem as hurt as she felt by the remark.

@zCrookedz

Well that’s it then. The bear will go feral, without a human partner. It should happen in a few weeks.

Strong regarded him neutrally. “Normally that would be the case yes, but we have reason to believe that Boris has methods to retain is sapience.

Now that was strange. Before he could probe further however there was a large outburst from the back of the room. The young woman who had made the snippy comment earlier was now full-on shouting.

Alec stood in stunned silence, and even Duik’s jaw dropped slightly, looking back to agent Strong to see her reaction to the rude outburst. To his surprise her expression remained completely impartial throughout all of the interactions. It was the civet Calista that began to laugh after the reactions of the others had died down.

What cheek.” She barked in an amused tone. “You’d best learn to control that mouth prissy miss, you won’t make any sort of decent agent if you won’t stop acting like a spoiled child. Moving on; we never said you’d be tracking down agent Boris. We said you’d be chasing a lead as to his whereabouts. Pay attention.

@DawnAntalios

With that said,” Strong continued as if nothing at all had occurred, “I will not guarantee that there will not be some risks. Our human agent wasn’t killed by her partner…

She had addressed Alec’s main concern, though it sounded like there was a ‘but’ coming.

Meanwhile Duik had only just now looked around the room. When Falarion joined them at the table he greeted the maned wolf with a happy nod. He glanced at all of them in turn as they introduced themselves. Alec could have sword he’d seen Rin before…a photo maybe, but for now he couldn’t quite put his finger on it.

@andujarprime

Dude, you are the coolest wolf-fox thing I think I’ve ever seen.” He said quickly to Flarion before standing and putting his forepaws on either side of his bowl.

@Lioness075

I’m Duik. Pleased to meet you all,” adopting a fake British accent he added; “and this is my associate Alec Desrois.” Duik gave a quick check back to Alec to make sure he wasn’t about to say anything he wasn’t supposed to. With a nod from his human partner he continued, though Alec was deep in thought about just what they were being asked to do.

Alec’s a trained vet too, and he’s really good with pretty much any kind of firearm and…well, that’s it.” Duik had picked up on the subtle sign from Alec to stop, which he did. Alec would keep his hacking talents to himself for now. Duik sat back down as he leaned over to Jimbo and grinned at the monkey too. “Nailed it.” He whispered, “and it was bear-ly a chore.

@zCrookedz @Peaceswore

Agent Kelly was killed by animals. Wolves to be precise, according to the forensic analysis of the puncture marks on her body. We believe there is an organized group of them interested in protecting Boris’ current whereabouts. It is possible you may run into resistance chasing the lead out in the Rockies.

Alec started, “I’m sorry, did you say the Rockies?” Strong nodded.

Canada to be precise, leaving immediately.” Calista added.

Now, in winter?

I’m sorry, did I stutter?

Alec crossed his arms and leaned against the wall. This was a lot to take in.

Duik waited for his partner to give some sort of reply. Were they in or not? Not several hours before this Alec had hacked into a weakly-guarded database in the Watch, looking for more clues about this little recruitment scheme. That had told him enough. They were hunting the Rouges, an all animal terrorist group that had found a way to separate themselves from their human partners and keep their intelligence. True, animal partners still didn’t have all the same rights as humans did, but blowing things up was never a successful way to promote a cause, and tangling with them would definitely be dangerous.

No.” Alec said finally, moving off the wall and heading for the door. Duik saw the expression on his face change and knew his answer before he said it.

Come on Duik. I’m just a bond clinic doctor.” He turned back to all of them and gave them an apologetic look. “Sorry, but we’re not cut out for this. I need to keep my partner safe.

Duik didn’t move. He had seen the data as well, but his mind went in the opposite direction. If this really was about stopping an organization like the Rogues then they had to help! And Duik knew Alec could.

We can’t just back down.

Oh yes we can.

Alec, this could be our chance to get in somewhere where we can actually change things.

Alec shot the hyena a look that said; ‘really? We’re having this conversation here?’

Come on man. Where’s the Alec that wanted that?

That Alec was an idiot.” He replied quietly.

Who made a difference…once.” Duik didn’t need to say more, he knew why his partner was reluctant to put them in danger.

We can do this. You know we can.” Alec frowned and suddenly it seemed like all of his energy left him. He sighed and gazed around the room, then grabbed a chair and fell into it, crossing his arms like an irritable teenager.

You win Duik. When do we start?

Agent Strong looked over the room, a hint of a satisfied smile playing on her lips.

Right now.

The corridor that opened up on the other side of the room looked quite different from the rest of the hotel. It was mostly white and not very long, ending in a wide staircase which descended past their view. What surprised Alec more was the fact that the corridor had seemingly opened up out of the very wall.

Strong led the way and motioned for the group to follow her. The steps lead a long way down and turned twice. As they descended Strong spoke:

This system was not actually built for the watch, but as a contingency escape route for the president. It connects to a re-purposed subway tunnel that now leads straight to the airport. Inside the railway shuttle you will find that all your belongings have been stowed for you. One of our jets is waiting to fly you to British Columbia at JFK.

Alec could only whistle at the impressiveness of the system. He had no idea there was anything like this hidden beneath the hotel.

Calista plodded beside Agent Strong and Alec decided to hang back to wait for Simon.

Something tells me you knew about this little gem.” He said as they walked.

@zCrookedz

The train that sat on the rails at the bottom of the stairs was also white and looked borderline futuristic. Underneath the cars Alec could just glimpse that the tram was being held up by nothing at all.

Magnetic levitation.” Strong offered to anyone who was interested. "The cars are suspended in a semi-tube pumped with an electric current that creates constant magnetic force, it also propels the train.

The doors opened with an audible 'whoosh' and the passengers were allowed to step inside. As good as her word their bags were all there, sitting neatly in storage bins on either side of the interior.

Simon was glad to see the others where going with the advice and began to introduce themselves. Slowly but surely Simon began to see exactly why they had been recruited. Each of them possessed a unique skill that made them invaluable in a team situation. Medics, techs, warriors, leaders; each one had their place and would help keep the team working forwards. After the group had finished and Calista spoke up, Simon caught Strong's eye once again and saw the warning in her eyes. He wasn't exactly scared of Strong, but he knew the extent of her skills and that made him cautious.

Simon listened to the location of the mission and he began to think about the bag he had brought and its contents. He was pretty sure the stuff would keep him warm, that of course depending on how cold the mountains were exactly. From the expression of the one named Alec, it was possible it would be very cold. He liked Duik, the little guy had a great sense of humor, although when he leaned towards Jimbo the big lug simply looked down at the hyena and made a short snorting noise.

"Don't mind him Duik, he's a grumpy old man."

Simon chuckled to himself and picked up his bag after Strong called for them to follow her. It was always impressive to see what The Watch had access to. The hallway that appeared out of the wall was definitely one of them. As Jimbo followed after the group and Simon behind him. Simon took in the hallway until he felt a presence near him. He looked over to see Alec had joined next to him. Simon smiled and continued to look about.

"The Watch is full of surprise my friend. Lets just hope that we only get to see the good surprises."

As they entered the tunnel with the train, Simon stopped and his eyes got a bit wider. He jogged over to the train and immediately dropped down to his knees so he could see under the train.

"I can't believe it, they finally fixed the magnetic feedback problem!! Funniest damn thing, when it was in testing, anyone who had metal on them when they stepped inside got a nice burn from heated pieces of......metal"

Simon got giddy about the train and began to ramble about it until he lifted his head to see the others. He stopped and got back on his feet and reached for the door to enter.

Jimbo however, had taken the opportunity to lumber over towards Strong and Calista while the others were loading and Simon was oggaling the train. He let his a heavy sigh as he gave them both a half cocked smile.

"Guy always got so worked up over Watch tech. Listen, sorry for Simon. We all know what happened and we all deal with it in different ways. I just want you to know, Simon doesn't blame you for anything that happened in Singapore. If anything he blames himself more than anyone. He has a hard time dealing with it and can sometimes be a bit stubborn about how he deals with things. Anyways, it was really good to see you guys again."

Jimbo nudged Strong with the bulk of his shoulder as he let the pair behind and followed Simon and the others onto the train.

Hearing the news of Boris being able to remain as he is, with or without his human partner, Leandra felt herself nervously scratch at the back of her head. This wasn't exactly any good news.

Luness cocked her head at the news, certainly curious now as to how Boris was capable of doing such a thing. Glancing towards Leandra, Luness then asked her, "Do you think there's some scientific explanation behind this? Genetic mutation or even someone performing experiments on spirit animals?"

Shrugging, Leandra responded, "I haven't the faintest idea."

Overhearing the weird cat thing responding to Zoe's outburst, Leandra immediately found herself giggling, as she couldn't agree more and found it amusing that someone was called out as a spoiled brat like that. On top of that, the cat thing pointed out that Zoe had missed a big point they'd made about their job. Ouch.

Hearing Agent Strong speaking up again, Leandra and Luness both simultaneously looked right at her in time to hear her mention that Boris' partner hadn't been killed by him. That was definitely not a good sign.

Hearing Duik complimenting Falarion brought a grin to Leandra's face and Luness shook her head amusingly before muttering, "Don't let it get to his head, please. We'll never hear the end of it."

Hearing that Alec was also a trained vet, Leandra found herself smiling, as it was always plenty of fun to learn someone had shared interests. Perhaps they would make a great team down the line if more than one of their spirit animals were injured in a fight. Plus, Leandra could share her limited knowledge about phoenixes with Alec. Surely he'd be interested in such a topic if he was a trained vet...right?

Luness chortled at Leandra's inward ramblings and then said out loud to her, "Have you considered asking him that in person?"

Blushing slightly at Luness' bluntness, Leandra then stuttered in response, "I h-have no idea what you mean, Lune. Shush."

Glancing away from Alec, Leandra focused on Agent Strong instead and tried her best to listen to everything that was being said.

Manjano continued to keep his thoughts to himself, as he silently listened to what everyone was saying now that the bickering had died down.

Hearing the mention of Boris being able to retain his sapience, Manjano tensed up. That would make this whole job that much more difficult if they were going up against rogue spirit animals that weren't returning to their feral counterparts.

While Manjano was thinking this all through, Falarion finished off his plate full of meat only to start glancing around the table with his head cocked to the left so he could see better out of his right eye.

Distracted from whatever the Agent was saying at the time, Falarion's attention was brought back to those around him when Duik gave him a compliment of all things. Excited again, Falarion grinned at him and gave him a short bark before quieting back down when Duik began introducing himself and Alec.

Hearing what the agent said about Boris' partner made Manjano even more uneasy, as he realized that meant that Boris probably wasn't the only one going rogue. Did that mean there were other agents or humans that had been killed out there?

His thoughts were interrupted though, as Duik began his introduction for himself and Alec. Considering the way Manjano silently communicated with Falarion, it wasn't difficult for him to pick up on the unsaid words for Duik to stop saying things when he cut himself off after mentioning firearms.

Amused by Duik's faked accent, Falarion cocked his head at the hyena with his tongue hanging out sideways. Perking his ears towards Duik when he whispered something, Falarion found himself grinning and laughing upon hearing the pun.

Despite being curious to know what they were keeping hidden from the team, Manjano knew better than to push it since he didn't want to introduce himself. Perhaps he could get Falarion to casually ask about it later to learn more about who his teammates really were.

Upon hearing Falarion's thoughts about Duik's pun joke, Manjano rolled his eyes and scowled at the hyena's attempt at humor, even though Falarion thought it was hilarious.

Hearing Falarion's sudden burst of laughter, Leandra was more than startled and nearly choked on the water she'd just taken a sip of.

Narrowing her eyes at Falarion for this, the wolf quickly shut his muzzle and nonchalantly looked at Agent Strong, as if he suddenly cared deeply about understanding their job.

Hearing that other animals had indeed killed Boris' human companion, both of the twins exchanged a silent, knowing look. This was definitely going to be a dangerous job and whether or not they liked it, they were going to have to work with those on their team.

At the mention of the Rockies, which meant specifically Canada, Leandra groaned and let her head hit the table with a thud.

Surprised by the sudden action, Luness flew up from the table before landing again and shaking her head at Leandra in amusement.

Slowly raising her head, Leandra then said, "Great, I hate cold weather."

Amused, Luness then said proudly, "It's a good thing I'm designed to make fire then. I can keep you warm, my dear."

Sighing, Leandra muttered, "Gee, thanks. That makes this only slightly better though."

Upon hearing that they were going somewhere cold, Falarion whimpered, as his kind was originally from South America and not quite used to the cold at all.

Glancing over at Luness, Falarion then asked, "Hey, is that fire something to be shared? Because I'm definitely going to want in on some of that heat."

Bobbing her head and body a bit, Luness then responded cheerfully, "Of course, my dear. Plenty to go around. I can even help start a fire to be shared by the whole team if need be."

When Alec made a move to leave, even saying that he wanted to keep his partner safe, Leandra felt disheartened and furrowed her brows on top of frowning. Was Alec serious? Surely this wasn't nearly that dangerous with so many talented people on the team?

Yet, after a brief back and forth between Duik and Alec, the decision was changed and Leandra found herself grinning again, relieved that they hadn't already lost two of their teammates. Especially since one of them was hot and the other had a strong sense of humor.

Luness merely watched the argument with a sense of amusement the whole time, not once seemingly concerned that Alec and Duik were actually going to leave them so soon.

Thinking briefly over the argument that Alec and Duik had just had, Leandra suddenly realized that they'd mentioned something about their past in the middle of it. What did they say again? Something along the lines of Alec having made a difference once before? What was that about?

Curious about Alec's past, especially when he acted in a defeated manner by plopping himself into a chair nearby, Leandra wondered when would be appropriate to ask about it. Probably not now.

While Leandra had been overly concerned about Alec and Duik leaving, Manjano could've cared less. After all, his sister had the medicine stuff covered and they seemed to have more than enough combat-efficient teammates here. They wouldn't really need Alec and Duik if they left, would they?

Yet, Falarion let out a whimper and even let his ears droop before he lowered his head while looking at Duik. They had just become friends! How could Duik be leaving already? It wasn't fair!

Luckily though, Duik was able to convince Alec to stay, which Falarion immediately responded with by barking excitedly and jumping up in his chair.

Hearing that they were leaving immediately, Manjano wasted no time in thinking, 'Falarion, to my side now.'

Still ever so excited, Falarion scrambled out of his seat and, without vision in his left eye, missed the soup bowl near him and struck it, resulting in it spilling and some of it landing in Luness' plumage.

Exasperated, Luness held up her slightly dampened wing with disgust and shouted after Falarion, "Seriously, Falarion!?"

Chuckling by the time he was at Manjano's side, Falarion turned around and was about to drop down like a puppy and taunt Luness to chase him, but decided against it when Manjano began to walk after the agent instead of sticking around to chat with anyone.

Leandra quickly grabbed a napkin and did her best to dry off Luness' plumage before holding out her arm for Luness to land on. After all, the group was moving again and they hadn't a moment to waste.

Sighing, Luness climbed onto Leandra's forearm and then proceeded to silently admire the view for now.

As the agent led the group through a corridor and down a staircase, the twins and their companions were mostly quiet for the time being. Mostly quiet.

Falarion couldn't contain his excitement though and kept bounding a few feet ahead of Manjano, who was around the middle of the group, and then stopping to turned around and drop down on his forepaws and arms like he was a puppy again. Though, Manjano was pretty sure that Falarion would never grow out of his puppy antics.

Noting how the corridor had been hard to see at first, Falarion shouted in his head to Manjano, 'Woah! Did you see that? It's like we just walked through the wall! Does that mean we're secret agents now? Hey, look! Big stairs!"

Letting out a low groan of annoyance, Manjano couldn't do anything to stop Falarion as he excitedly sprinted down the stairs ahead of the agent now. Maybe he'd get lucky and Falarion would wear himself out before they got on the plane.

Leandra, Luness, and Manjano all did their best to pay attention, as Agent Strong explained their method of travel. Railway first, then a jet. Fancy.

Glancing around in awe, Leandra soon forgot about asking Alec about his past in this moment, as she was now distracted by the train sitting before them.

Hearing about the train itself, Leandra found herself unable to understand anything being said beyond the fact that the train was essentially not touching the railway directly. Again, fancy.

Luness immediately flew ahead of the group, catching up to Falarion, who had already sprinted ahead and was now anxiously waiting by the doors, his tail wagging hard behind him.

Landing on Falarion's back, Luness curiously peered up at the doors in time to see and hear them suddenly open with a whoosh, surprising her enough to make her fly back to Leandra and perch on her shoulder. Ruffling her feathers, Luness then muttered, "I knew it was going to do that...I just wanted to rejoin you is all."

Grinning at this, Leandra then responded, "Sure, whatever you say, Lune."

Meanwhile, Falarion jumped to his feet and barked at the doors when they opened before sprinting onboard without waiting for anyone else to join him. Finding Manjano's belongings, Falarion then abruptly sat down on his rump beside all of it and let out a loud bark to announce to Manjano that he'd found something of use.

Sighing at Falarion's antics, Manjano brushed past everyone, including Simon without a second thought, as he reached Falarion's side and furrowed his brows before thinking, 'Why'd you run off without me like that? You know better, Falarion.'

Whining and looking a bit downcast now, Falarion thought back, 'I was just excited. Plus, I found your stuff and look, we're on a train!'

Unable to stay serious with Falarion for too long, Manjano sighed before glancing around the train and wondering if they would be able to have their own separate rooms or if they had to share a car together until they got to the jet.

Hearing Simon's sudden excitement over the train, Leandra giggled in amusement and then walked up to join his side to enter the train while saying, "Y'know, there's no reason to be embarrassed by whatever you're passionate about."

Zoe did not even realize how much did she need to vent, how much did all this weigh on her shoulders. Suddenly, even though it seemed that her speech was less effective than she anticipated, she felt a sudden surge of calmness and serenity rush into her mind - the welcome company she usually had every day. It appeared that no matter how she tried to warn these foolish people she could not convince them at all.

She looked at Simon, the war weathered engineer spoke the truth... but she knew that already all to well. The others, Rin and Beth have revealed that they had some past, some by the Watch, some by the police... she was still not convinced. They still did not know what they accepted.

When the civet audaciously silenced her she could barely hold back from drawing and arrow to impale the little rascal - but in the end her cold blood finally prevented her from doing a fatal mistake.

" Introductions... " she whispered, annoyed " I guess they are avoidable at this point... "

" Yes indeed, I think it is time for us to introduce ourselves. " Eos prodded the girl as she sighed heavily.

" The name is Zoe, but I was always referred as Ghost. " she grunted " My job was to fight, kill and hunt down the Ferals and the instigators who threatened us all. That is all you need to know."

" And I am Eos, her faithful companion. " the stag spoke and bowed courteously.

Now that this was over with Zoe continued to observe her so called team as the Agent and her rodent explained the details of their mission and the fact that they are to depart now. Somehow this did not bother her at all... perhaps the cool wintry wind will clear her head... or bring back loads of unwanted memories. It has been nearly two years now since she had visited the cold north... she was not really keen on doing so again but if their mission led them there then so must she go.

She closed her eyes and as soon as darkness embraced her for but a moment she heard the echoing cries... the rending howl in the distance... the painful echoes reverberated in her mind as she struggled with her memories. When she opened her eyes moments later she realized that she was shaking and that Eos watched her carefully with anxiety in his eyes.

" Are you all right? " the voice of the stag boomed in her mind.

" I am fine. " she replied but Eos continued.

" You always say that... but I see that something troubles you. If it is about the new recruits..."

" It has nothing to do with them. " she snapped, turning away from him quickly, composing herself. When the secret passage was revealed she was not really surprised. Back in the old fortress they had a plethora of escape routes similar to this one... it was still very useful for many reasons. The dark descent into the depths felt like an eternity for her... suddenly all the events of the past were rushing back to her, she felt like just the rookie as the others around her did now probably. The enthusiasm, the excitement - probably these motives burned in the heart of those who were not already involved with special tasks with the Watch. Yet even those she now knew that have worked on the battlefield were different from her. She felt like an alien here, a vagabond somehow mixed up with everyone here. No matter how much did she rant previously and how did she berate the newcomers - it was she who did not belong here, she was the one standing out... and it felt strange.

Like everyone else she silently followed their recruiter down the dark corridor, reaching to a train station where their transport awaited them. Seeing how everyone was busy climbing on board she turned to Eos.

" Go ahead. I have something else to attend to. " she said, her companion gazing at her intently. Seeing how he was still troubled she added: " I will not die from either a mental breakdown or from exhaustion. I just want to talk to the Agent before we depart. "

Eos finally nodded and prepared to board. She glanced towards the enigmatic woman, seeing Jimbo talking with her. When the gorilla finished talking he walked up to Agent Strong and saluted respectfully - while carefully paying attention not to look at the civet. After a brief paused she spoke.

" Ma'am, I must apologize for my outburst earlier. " she remained in the pose of saluting " As my superior I will defer to your wisdom when it comes to recruiting - though my opinion still stands from before. Nevertheless, I shall pay close attention so that this will not happen again. "

With that she bowed and headed towards their transport, climbing up next to her faithful stag, sinking deeply in her thoughts. It has begun once again...

Beth and Totus fell solemn again, as the civet and gent Strong spoke again, finally giving the information that really mattered. The information was surprising, to say the least. But Beth felt a small thrill at the thought of spending time in the Canadian Rockies, even in the unbearable winter. Her thoughts were cut short as one of the most resolute, Alec, made to leave. It seemed the thought of Canadian mountain winter was too much for him. The twins also expressed trepidation at the cold.

"Im sure our new employer will provide the proper attire for a trip like this," She said, with a look at Agent Strong.

And then they were moving.

Beth cast her eyes about the vast, mostly white space, listening to Agent Strong despite Totus's insistent whispering. Quite an interesting history. But it ultimately made her uncomfortable to be traveling in such "style." She preferred traveling on her own two feet or her beat up Volkswagen. But a floating train and a jet? Really?

Totus had leaned close to Beth's ear. "A group of wolves with enough sentient thought to assist a bear who may have had a paw in killing his own partner? The ability to remain intelligent after being separated? A trip to the Rockies in the winter with a bunch of strangers who can't even be in the same room?" His voice was low, but his pitch had risen with his distress. "This is crazy, Elizabeth. The Watch won't tell us everything, some of these people are downright unstable, and it is simply too dangerous to be chasing wolves and bears who are killing people! Our work is not here. It is back with Sergeant Keller, in Seattle. We need to drop this now! Please, turn around. Don't get on that crazy train."

Totus finished speaking as the door opened noisily, and as Beth was giving Simon a smile and an interested nod over his gush about the technology. She was grateful they had fixed the problem he mentioned- she didnt fancy being burned by the metal on her belt or backpack. As she stepped aboard, Beth tilted her head to speak to Totus.

"Totus. We are doing this. Your objections are noted and I will keep them in mind. You're right, this is bigger than us. That's why we are here. This could affect every person on this globe. Who could take our place on this team? No one that would leave their current jobs, you know that. I know you want to keep me safe. But if this isnt stopped, I have a feeling no one will be safe." She kept her voice very low, not wanting to broadcast their conversation to everyone else. But her tone was firm. The girl reached up a hand, and Totus loyally stepped onto it so they could be face to face. "Relax. It might be dangerous, but this is what we are meant to do." Beth smoothed Totus's chest feathers lovingly, and the owl reluctantly stopped his ranting. As her eyes slid away from his round, white face, they caught something else. To her surprise, even though Beth had only brought her backpack, there was a very familiar purple duffle bag in the storage bin. Totus hopped off her arm just in time. Her brow furrowed, and she snatched the bag up. Pinned to it was a note in a familiar scrawl.

'Beth, I was just informed of the nature of the job offer that you left the precinct for. Please be safe. Watch your back, and keep your wits about you. Xior sends his deepest respects, and whatever is in this bag. He wouldn't let me look. And I send my best wishes, and hopes of dinner if you are in Seattle again. -Ben'

Her face fell into a frown, and her green eyes went back to the beginning a few times. She probably shouldnt have been surprised that Ben would eventually get to the bottom of her situation, but the intervention of the griffin was a little shocking. Beth had stopped in the middle of the train car, bag in her other hand, to read the note, unaware of how easy it would be for someone to read it over her short shoulder.

Rin and Haku followed the group along. He wasn't very surprised by the secret passage, there were similar ones in almost every room, in every corporate building. And even more so in his home. The magnetic train however, that was a sight for sore eyes. "ooohhh, doesn't this look familiar?" Haku said aloud to him, knowing how much he enjoyed riding the secret train between his family's bases in Tokyo. "Hush now Haku." He retorted as he began to make his way onto the train. He found a seat near the rear of the train, silently watching and waiting for the next step. "Great, back to Jfk" He thought, as he closed his eyes and tried to focus on his breathing. His emotions were still stirring, and he knew this would be a long mission. But it wouldn't do to have him on edge. He placed his sword across his lap and felt Haku slide down and coil up in his lap. He smiled at the familiar feeling as he slowed his breathing. ((Sorry for the short lame post. Way too tired T_T))

Wednesday sighed, and glanced at her phone again, it was that same number. They didn't leave a message last time, so why should I answer it now? She thought to herself, before setting her phone back down again. She looked over to Cerci. Of course she is still asleep. She's always sleeping. She shook her head, her loose blonde hair falling around her face as she did, then she got up to finish getting ready.

She glanced at her phone again before going over to the mirror. What a dumb face, whatever, maybe I can do something with my hair and trick other people into thinking I look human. With that thought she gave another small sigh and spent few minutes messing with her hair, pulling it up this way and that before deciding to just leave it down today, twisting her bangs out of her face and pinning them behind her ear.

After this she brushed her teeth, though as she began to mentally go through each of the bones in the body- a study technique she used during college and now decided made more sense than the ABC's- her phone buzzed loudly on the table. This time it was a text message. She sighed and moved to catch her phone from falling off of the nightstand.

It was a text message from the Watch. That was weird. She didn't usually get texts from anyone in the watch unless they were requesting she put in overtime or something to that nature. She wasn't even sure why they had her number. Her eyes scanned over the text as she absently moved her toothbrush back and forth.

They want me for some sort of team? Of investigators? That can't be right. They must have a wrong number. With that she sat the phone back down.

After brushing her teeth she finished getting ready, ignoring several more texts before finally waking up Cerci.

"Why are you getting me up so early?" Cerci asked with a yawn, displaying all of her sharp teeth.

"Late, come on it's time to go." she answered, and was of course met with a small roar from her bear.

"What?! Why didn't you get me up sooner?! My fur is a mess!!" Cerci cried, a bit of a growl in her voice.

"Relax, it's not that bad." Wednesday replied smoothing down Cerci's fur by petting her before putting on her own jacket and heading to work. Cerci followed, clearly frustrated with her human but she knew arguing wouldn't really help.

((@Hel, you and @Sleipnir can have your characters meet us at the airport. Agent Strong will know you're coming.))

"Well well, if it isn't ol' ham hands." Calista greeted Jimbo playfully, landing on Amber's shoulders with a deft leap. "Still playing wet nurse are we?" She flicked her head toward Simon who was examining the train with a good deal of energy.

Amber gave him a regretful look. "I know where he's coming from. Trust me, there's nothing that happened back in Singapore that I don't blame myself for. I screwed up Jim."

Amber suddenly looked exhausted, but she had so far hidden it well under a composed and professional mask.

@zCrookedz

She spoke aloud to all of them next:

"You will all be outfitted once we reach the outpost in Kootenay, I'll pass along the dossier shortly."

She turned to Zoe then and listened to the girl's apology.

"You shouldn't be saluting me." Amber told her without emotion. "You're not an agent of the Watch, and I'm no one of consequence." Then she added, "Keep your opinions Zoe, but keep them to yourself. What makes a good agent is the team she works with, and how well she can work with them." Amber didn't meant to sound harsh, but she saw a lot of herself reflected in the arrogance that had just been shown her. She was cocky too once, thought that everyone needed her and it hadn't turned out well.

@DawnAntalios

Duik stepped onto the train, nodding in approval. The purple dufflebag had caught his attention because it was purple, but couldn't help but read the note automatically when he saw it. Then it was snatched up by Beth.

"Who's Ben?" The hyena asked slyly.

"D, are you reading people's personal messages now?"

"It was an accident...sort of."

Alec gave Beth an apologetic smile. "Never mind him. D never knows when to keep his big nose out of something."

Duik was already rummaging through the bags for his own.

"Hey Alec, you packed my iPod right?"

Alec sighed, "Yes, I packed your ipod."

@Flutterby

Laohu, surprisingly, was big for a white tiger, a rarest of his kind. Or perhaps it only seemed like he was bigger than most since Xiao Hui was smaller than she seemed, in stature, as he was half Xiao Hui's size in height. Entering the room, they were greeted by a mahogany table filled with food on top. Her attention went towards the Agent as she invited them to sit and eat. Xiao Hui gave her a small smile, showing her gratitude and consideration. However, as they entered, the group seemed to dispersed everywhere into the room. Some sat by the tables and others leaned away from the group by the walls. Soon, another voice gained Xiao Hui's attention as Laohu's ears perked. Judging the tone of the girl and her posture, Xiao Hui observed that she looked more stoic than most of those among the group she would be meeting and getting to know. However, Xiao Hui couldn't help but feel as if it was wrong . . for a youthful person to have such a sense of ferocity and sternness to them. But, how can she judge? She was in her shoes, perhaps still is, though another facade was put up, hiding behind a mask, as she became a foreign person. She wasn't Lady of the House of Lao, no, instead, she was just Xiao Hui. She liked that, thought it was foreign to think about. Laohu looked up to his companion, searching for what it is she was looking at or who and thinking about, that is, until Duirk's voice reached his ears as he found himself walking next to him. On the other hand, Xiao Hui decided to follow them, sitting down next to Laohu as Simon and Jimbo sat across from them.

Responding to Duirk's question, Laohu's tail swished back and forth as he sat next to the hyena,
"You have a keen eye, we aren't." He spoke, quite impressed, or perhaps it may have been the accent both he and Xiao Hui carried with them. "What about you and your human companion?" He asked, that is, before Duirk began to feast into the bowl of snacks before offering it to him and gorilla. Laohu made a face of disgust as he scrunched up his nose, seeing that there were germs from the hyena and the gorilla. It wasn't as if he had anything personal against him, it was the mere fact they placed their own germs into the bowl that made him gag inside. If there was one thing to know about Laohu, he's truly a picky person. "No, thank you." He said politely, urging them on to take the snacks themselves. However, feeling someone looking at him, Laohu glanced over, seeing a young woman with silver hair along with her pure-white pheonix. He was curious, seeing such a rare animal among them was a treat, especially since it looked to him like she was the last of her kind, as well. Soon, an exact replica of the young woman approached, though the person was a male with shorter silver hair, with a wolf. . ? dog.. ? like animal as a companion. Stranger and curious creatures. Soon, however, the lights dimmed in the room as the slide were being displayed on the presentation. Laohu turned away from the two twins and the young woman with the owl next to her towards the screen.

Xiao Hui had stood near the entrance door, to the left side, away from the table, wanting space to take and process the information that'll be given to her during the presentation. Her eyes scanned her surroundings until the Agent spoke, introducing herself and why they are being recruited. She only heard about the Watch through stories her grandfather had told her, but its been a long time since he's been gone. But, for them to want to recruit them? Surely, there's a reason for it. And soon enough, her answers were sort of answered. However, Xiao Hui didn't miss the tone of the Agent and her expression when she called herself a "recruiter". Listening to the woman go in more detail, however, upon hearing that one of their agents, a bear named Boris is missing, Xiao Hui stared blankly, hearing that the bear's partner was deceased. This caused an uproar in the room, making other's head turn, startled, or some didn't even show any signs of emotions. Whether the case may be, Xiao Hui heard Laohu's voice,
"Hui, don't tell me you're thinking of joining are you?" He warned, as he looked towards his partner, jumping down from the chair, making his way over. Xiao Hui didn't respond, calculating and processing the information in her head. If the human is deceased, then what of the bear? Would it not turn feral and lose it's humanity and became as wild as the next bear they encounter on a safari? However, judging most of the group she was with's expression, they assumed the bear had killed his human partner, since the bear can't be found. At the same time, there are rogue animals on the loose, seeing that Boris is under the radar, not able to track. "Laohu, if there's rogue animals on the lose. . and they managed to kill an agent. . they're not one to be reckoned with or underestimated against." She responded to her white tiger, keeping a blank expression on her face. Laohu knew there was no arguing with her, but for her sake he pleased, "Hui. . " This caused Xiao Hui to look down, her hardened expression slowly dropping slightly as she gently pet Laohu. "Humans. . animals. . there's no escape from death, blood, and . . massacre is there?" She asked rhetorically to him. Laoh's ears drooped, "I'm here to protect you, not the other way around." He said, growling at just the thought of hurting his. . family. Nodding, Xiao Hui bent over slightly, kissing his head lightly. She didn't believe that the bear could kill his human companion, but she couldn't real it out until she had clear facts. She and Laohu have been inseparable since she was a baby, despite not being bonded to him until she was a teenager of fifteen. However, soon Xiao Hui's eyes shifted towards Simon, wondering what his input was in all of this. He knew more than he lead on, judging from his appearance. Some of them wanted to be here, quite excited for an adventure, such as herself, an adventurer yet at the same time, there was more to it than she led on. However, there were others who were here for a mission, while some were here because they wanted to be. But, soon, Simon spoke, saying he was in, however, he too, including Agent Strong were both being cryptic, trying hard to maintain secrecy. It was as clear as day the two know each other, judging from Simon's hostileness and Agent Strong's expression of guilt, Xiao Hui concluded there must have been some sort of mission gone wrong, the details, she didn't know.

However, Xiao Hui was brought out of her calculations when she heard the same hostile high-pitched voice across from her. Her attention turned towards the young blonde-haired woman. She didn't expect such a sharp tongue to come out of the young woman's mouth as she listened to her speak, clearly stating the honest fact, quite rudely, if she must state an opnion. But, nevertheless true, however, the young maiden's last words would surely cause an uproar, assuming it is she who is ready while the rest of them are not. Xiao Hui knew this would cause tension, hearing that others may take offense. Laohu eyed the white stag, seeing it's regalness and wisdom, however he was brought out of his stupor when another young maiden and her owl spoke up, wondering why so many of them were called for the mission if they were looking for a bear. However, soon two more late members came upon the meeting: one aloof male, that seemed to have hormones for eyes as another young maiden carried a small dragon with glasses with her. Xiao Hui was curious about the dragon, wanting to actually go and talk to the animal herself. But, another voice resonated as Xiao Hui's eyes looked over, seeing a young man, carrying a sword to his side, however, his animal companion made her shiver slightly, but regardless, she didn't express her discomfort. Laohu, on the other hand, nudged against Xiao Hui, providing more comfort. But, due to the male's backlash against the hostile young maiden, she sensed a dispute arising. And soon, enough, what she predicted came true.

Laohu bared his teeth, growling slightly at the commotion that was being brought as the young maiden went off on the whole group, letting her anger roll of with her words, her voice getting louder and louder, each time she spoke. However, Xiao Hui remained calm, shhing Laohu down, not feeling the tense pressure radiating through the atmosphere. But, it was loud and clear to Xiao Hui that the woman had something against "ferals", the way all of them presented themselves, and her assumption of all their naivety of blindly agreeing to a contract or job they know less to nothing about. She spoke of truth to a certain extent semeingly that she knew next to naught about the company she was with, especially if she were to judge based on their actions and appearance. However, through her words, Xiao Hui felt familarity as the young maiden spoke, as she was speaking through experience. Nevertheless, Xiao Hui wasn't phased by such a commotion, having to deal with bickerings most of her life. Soon, the young maiden with the dragon spoke, speaking between two different groups that appeared in the room: one with experience and one without. As the talks went on, Simon spoke up, assuming he was a Veteran, Xiao Hui wanted to hear his response. Only to find herself nodding and agreeing to his answer. Teamwork always gets the job done and if all of them were being recruited, it must mean all of them have valuable assets to contribute. Soon, the group ended up introducing themselves and their specialities. Laohu sat down, loosening his protective stance that he automatically got into when the tension in the room caused Laohu to become overprotective.

With this distraction, Xiao Hui began to write and make mental notes of everyone in the room: Simon and Jimbo had stated it wasn't their first time, as they said they were mechanics of the team. Elizabeth/Beth and Totus has the ability to track, search, and hunt for objects or people or creatures. Leandra and Lunness are practicing vet and human medicine. Vere and Malik are sufficient and knowledgeable in technology. Lastly, Rin and Hauji are master swordsman. Xiao Hui smiled at such diversity and difference between the group. However, she realized there was one other person who had yet to speak besides herself, the male twin of Leandra, however, she wouldn't push the subject. Soon enough, Agent Storm took back the control of the room as she made continued on explaining why the Bear isn't feral since it seemed that the animals were able to maintain sapience through a sort of method. Soon, Xiao Hui let out a breathe she held in, hearing their agent wasn't killed by her partner, but rather wolves. Laohu's ears perked at such information, relieved. However, it seemed Duirk, the hyena took control of the talk, introducing himself and Alec as a vets too. And later on, the young maiden who seemed to make an outburst was Zoe and Eos, who's job was to hunt down Ferals and instigators.

Soon, they were off to apparantly, the Rockies and judging by everyone's expressions, Canada was considered a winter and cold country at the time. Xiao Hui wasn't shocked by the secret passageways since she felt it was a must have when it comes to mission such as these. As she followed the group, Agent Strong continued explaining where they would be going and the history behind the corridor. Laohu walked besides Xiao Hui, keeping up to the pace of everyone else. Soon they arrived on the platform of the train, using the first mode of transportation. Soon, Agent Strong spoke some more giving instructions that they'll be getting fitted once they got to Kennedy. Soon, Xiao Hui hopped up on the train, watching as everyone piled in. As soon as she took notice of everyone, making sure she didn't have to speak again. She moved around, catching everyone's eyes and attention. Her walk was one of grace and poise as her posture straightened as she gave a polite smile to all.

"I'm sure some of you guys may know me as 'the clumsy woman who fell' the first time you may or may not say me," she began, speaking to them, letting out a light laugh, to ease some tension, "but, it seems I have yet to introduce myself. I'm Xiao Hui and my companion here is Laohu. It's nice to meet everyone and to work with you all." She said csincerely before making her way back to where there was an empty seat. However, she stumbled upon the woman, Zoe. "Oh, hello," She said, in a friendly tone, "You were quite brave to state your opinions. But judging from your words and your expressions, you seem to bear a burden, deep pain, and guilt in your heart, don't you? Perhaps? Or am I wrong?" Xiao Hui asked, tiling her head, before her lips formed a thin line, "Do we all not have our own burdens, guilts, and pain to hide away? We may not wear our heart on our sleeves, or are as brave as you are to expose yourself, but we are here of our own choices. We were all chosen to become a team together. So, I hope, we'll be able to get along and become a team." She finished, nodding her head at Zoe before moving off,a way from the young maiden to give her some space. Laohu stayed quiet as he followed Xiao Hui to a seat, sitting down, leaving some room for others if they wished to sit next to her if there aren't any other seats opened.
